blog introduction!

hello! finally, after a long time of wanting to, i finally decided to make a blog! as i am still planning and putting everything together, i thought that i may as well post an introduction post!

my main focus for this blog likely will be for writing some original work and mainly fanfic writing, and likely some chronic illness/disability content!

my inspiration to create this came from my longtime longing to write and share my own work as i have been an avid reader, especially of fanfics, and i have many, many, ideas living in my head. i originally started planning out a few (a lot) of multi chapter stories, both fanfics and original work/ideas, and i had everything planned out thoroughly, however since i had never committed to writing something to that extent, i thought where best to start than with one-shots and short stories!

besides the writing, i also was inspired to post about and make content about chronic illness and disability as it is something that i live with and is a big part of my life, and when i first started my “journey” of learning how to live with these things, i felt very alone and craved to have somewhere where i could relate and feel less alone in my experiences, so my hope with this blog is to be a place and resource to do such a thing that i, and likely many others would seek out.

about the person behind the blog!

you can call me mae, and my pronouns are she/her, and i am eighteen years old

some of my interests include, reading, educating myself on pretty much anything i possibly can, but especially science related things, writing, poetry, baking, gardening, photography, knitting (attempting to) and crocheting, sewing, and would also love to get into pottery!

i love listening to music, with some (but not limited to) of my favourite artists being david bowie, the smiths, hozier, taylor swift, phoebe bridgers, tv girl, mac demarco, mitski, and big thief! (inspo for some of my writing)

as my writing/blog progresses, i will be making a navigation post that will have links to important information like my blog rules, masterlists and etcetera, but i thought that i might as well include some info here so you know what to expect!

I love urban fantasy/sci-fi shows, but specifically that bit where the characters are investigating a new case, and they're like "okay we have to keep it a secret and on the down-low, the public will panic if they knew the truth" and then immediately they start to ask around town like "excuse me sir/ma'am, have you noticed anything strange around here? cold spots, paranormal happenings, mysterious lights, telekinetic powers, ghostly wails in the night?"

If My Wishes Came True

One thing to know about Dana Scully: she didn’t believe in wishes- you know, the throwing pennies in pools and all that. She may have believed it once; but the belief had disappeared as quickly as Diana Fowley waltzed in and in a way, took her place.

She sighed, and looked across the shopping center, where large groups of people were enjoying their Saturday. How ironic; there was a fountain- and people were throwing pennies in it.

Scully had never fully understood the weight of the sentence ‘he told me to wait outside’ until today- when Diana had suddenly interrupted her and Mulder’s lunchtime (maybe not Mulder’s, but certainly her’s) because of this case that they had wanted to ask the owner of a jewelry shop. Which was a minute away from the cafe where Scully was trying to enjoy her lunch.

Actually, it was Diana who told her to wait there instead of Mulder, but the fact that he made no retort hurt- much more than she’d expected. 

So here she was, sitting at a lonely seat without any appetite now; glaring at the sandwich in her hands. 

Might as well check out the fountain. Scully thought as she rewrapped the sandwich and stuffed it in a particularly large coat pocket- then grabbed the sides of the coat, tugging it close. 

Yes, she was cold on an eighty-something degrees day. Something that might have been the effect of being... excluded.

She realized that she could have simply followed them there, or expressed her desire to help with whatever case they were currently badgering a jeweler for, but she didn’t want to. 

Scully didn’t want to sound desperate. 

That was one of the reasons why she tried to seem like she had some amount of social life, even if it was seeing some friends from med school every few months that she didn’t exactly want to see- because she wanted to seem like she was interesting. 

Interesting enough to have things going on outside of work. 

At first it was for other people to see; when she had just been transferred to the x-files. People like Tom Colton, who she desperately wanted to prove that she wasn’t just Mrs. Spooky. Wasn’t just someone who followed her partner around on strange cases. 

But after a few of Mulder’s chickadees (on cases and in other places) later, it started to change. She didn’t care about whatever other people in the FBI thought- she cared about what Mulder thought. She didn’t want to be ‘that-partner-who-had-zero-social-life-and-wasn’t-even-fuckable’. 

Scully snapped out of her thoughts and realized that her feet had led her to the fountain; the one in the center of the shopping center. How long had she been standing there for?

“Aren’t you going to throw pennies in?” A little blonde girl- about the age of Emily, if she were still alive, asked. 

“N- Maybe.” Scully replied, surprising herself. 

The girl glanced at the fountain- no, past it, with a faraway look in her eyes. Scully briefly wondered if she had heard her response. 

“They say that if you throw them in, you’ll get a wish.” 

Scully nodded, and looked into the water. Tens and maybe even hundreds of coins had been thrown in, including a few quarters and nickels. There were probably dimes in there as well. 

When she turned her head away, she noticed that the girl was gone. Scully sighed again, and reached into her other pocket; pulling out three pennies. 

She was still deciding whether or not to throw in the pennies when a sudden “Scully!” shocked her- and she dropped them into the water, making a small splash. 

It was Mulder- which wasn’t exactly a surprise. The surprise, however, was that Diana was nowhere to be found. 

“Scully, what were you doing?” Mulder asked, as he didn’t see the coins fall into a fountain. 

“Nothing- nothing at all.” 

But a few months later, after Mulder showered her with kisses and fell asleep next to her, she briefly wondered if it were those pennies that she had accidentally dropped into the fountain that day...

No, it couldn’t be, could it?
