kind of unfortunate that so many fantasy epics are also war novels because i will be honest i just do not like war novels that much... the grand clashing of forces is compelling obviously but it requires characters to talk about so much practical battle strategy and while i can get my brain to comprehend all these fantasy maps and kingdoms and borders and battalions and front lines and army movements it takes up. so much space in the book. feels like i'm fighting a war of my own trying to get through it sometimes

okay, yeah, barton is generally violent towards the staff + occasionally the other patients in arkham, BUT there are also times where he'll just be a minor nuisance. like him talking about how much he misses burgers while in arkham at 2 am in the morning and telling his bunkie that the first thing he's going to do when he escapes is get a REALLY greasy burger + then asking them what they're going to do when they get out. and sure as shit, the nearest burger joint is going to see barton walk in there the instant he gets out of there because he is consistent... sometimes LMAO
