Major Book of Bill spoilers!!

Okay I know a lot of people have talked about the implication of the book that Dipper and Mabel’s parents were fighting and possibly on their way to a divorce.

But what I haven’t seen enough people talking about is how the book implies that the kids parents sent them away to Gravity Falls for the summer to get them away from that environment, while they either worked things out or made divorce arrangements. So basically the parents sent their kids away to get them away from that fighting toxicity…

And then 2/3 of the way through Summer, Dipper and Mabel were arguably in a very similar environment, but instead of it being between two parents, it was between two uncles. Arguing, fighting, implications that one would be kicked out of the house, all for the kids to overhear or piece together on their own.

It’s just painful irony…

Sirius Orion Black was many things. 

He was loud, messy, and spontaneous. He put no effort into a lot of things, but baking French pastries? He was pretentious about them.

On this particular occasion, Sirius had been explaining how a good, properly handmade, French choux pastry differed from mass-produced store-bought ones.

“Look at the texture, Remus! Look at it! Can you not see the obvious difference?” Sirius said, shaking the two pastries in his hands in Remus’s face frustratedly. 

He had been trying to convince his boyfriend that they were different for the past hour, but if you asked Remus, he would have said that they were practically the same.

He said as much to Sirius. “Padfoot, they look the same. What are you on?” 

Okay, so maybe he was trying to rile him up. Sue him, but Sirius was hot when he was mad, alright?

“Moony!” Sirius said indignantly, waving the pastries around like a madman. “Look closer! There’s a huge difference in the texture, see?” He tried to point at the one in his right hand. “See the way this one flakes? Like, delicately? And with layers?”

“No,” Remus said. “No, I don’t. Besides, it’s a pastry, Sirius. It doesn’t matter if it’s flaky or not, what matters is that it’s sweet. And if it has chocolate then that’s even better.”

“Moony,” Sirius whined, finally throwing his hands up in defeat. The pastry in his left hand slipped out and flew into the fireplace, probably boosted by Sirius’s magic. That was the store-bought one, after all. “You don’t get it! It’s called being cultured and appreciating the finer things in life.”

“Mhmm. Well, you’re pretty fine. Can I appreciate you?” Remus asked, smirking. 

Sirius gaped at him. “Dude, your pickup lines are absolute shit. What the fuck was that?”

“I don’t know, but please never call me ‘dude’ again, Pads. We’re dating,” Remus sighed. 

“Not until you learn the difference between the pastry textures,” Sirius harrumphed, sticking his nose in the air like the posh rich kid he was born as. “Pal.”

“That’s even worse.”
