Winged heart au (I remember Kyle)
Kyle: WALLACE RUDOLPH WEST I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!?
Wally, about to eat dinner: and there goes my peaceful dinner, what do you want Rayner. Hey Conner.
Conner: hey Wally, got any extra? Long patrol and Kyle wouldn't stop for dinner at least.
Wally: in the kitchen, help yourself dude.
Conner: thank you!
Kyle: I can't believe you asshole!
Wally: what can't you believe, that I'm pretty? That your art sucks? That you are lucky to have a friends and shouldn't annoy them when they're trying to live their civilian life.
Kyle: You're ugly, my art is to far above your understanding, and you're lucky to have me as a friend, but that's not it, you have a new annoying hero best friend! Nightwing of all people!!
Wally: I didn't ask for anything, I moved here because it was cheaper and my bios wouldn't step foot here!
Kyle: and you couldn't tell him to fuck off? You tell me too fuck off all the time!
Wally: I did! He didn't want too... Tho I did fed him so that could be the problem, cat woman did say something about the bats and birds being like strays.
Kyle: you got kidnapped by cat woman!?
Wally: it's Bludhaven! I get threatened to get stabbed on a daily basis here, getting kidnapped by villains is all you heros fault from using my windows as a front door!
Conner, eating: it's cheaper here.... How cheap?
Wally: for this two bedroom and two bath apartment, about 100 bucks a month, 67 bucks if you don't have a high paying job.
Conner:
Conner, taking a sticky note Nightwing wrote "call me handsome xxx-xxx-xxxx": look up apartments in Bludhaven area.
Kyle: forget about the apartment, I'm taking you back home so I can be the only person who annoys you!
Wally: Bart literally exists.
Kyle: THE ONLY PERSON WHO ANNOYS YOU THAT AIN'T FAMILY!
Wally: is uncle Hal and Ollie a joke to you?
Kyle: damnit boy I'm gonna strangle you.
Wally, turning back to eating: kinky, but not my type.
Dick, who was there the whole time: so who is your type?
Wally: black hair, blue eyes, could destroy me.... In blue.
Kyle: what the fuck, where did you come from!?
Dick and Wally: always been here.
Wally: do the rest of the bats and birds want to speak up or are you enjoying my suffering.
Jason: man, you ain't fun no more, why ain't you scared of us?
Wally: went away as well as my will to tolerate this bs. Grab a bowl I made a lot.
Duke: well... If you insist.... Please never go away.
Stephanie: definitely who else will feed us when Agent A leaves us.
Bruce: I can—
Batfam and Wally: don't.
Bruce, who burned down both the manor and Wallys first apartment: it was only two times....
Kyle:
Kyle: well then, I'm staying, because I'm not getting out annoying again! Never again!!
Wally: should have never asked for uncle Hal's help moving in here.

Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Green Lantern / Kyle Rayner
Kyle Rayner was a young illustrator and graphic designer who worked at the Daily Planet newspaper of Metropolis. Although a talented artists, Rayner felt stymied in his work creatively stuck.
Meanwhile, Aben Sur of the Green Lantern Corps had been assigned to protect Sector 2814. He was attacked by the rogue Lantern Sinestro who had obtained a powerful yellow power ring and was waging a one-man war on all Green Lanterns When Sinestro slew Sur, the fallen Lantern's ring detached in search of a new host. The ring sought out Kyle, detecting his creative potential and indomitable will.
Quite suddenly, Kyle was bestowed with the awesome powers of a Green Lantern. Yet he was inexperienced at using these powers and was ill-prepared when Sinestro hunted him down and attacked.
Fortunately, Superman interceded and was able to keep Sinestro busy whilst Kyle learned to tap into his creativity to better utilize the power ring. Kyle’s vibrant imagination enabled him to manifest elaborate and powerful constructs form the green energy. Having tapped into this potential, he and Superman had little difficulty in defeating Sinestro.
Afterwards, Kyle was sent to the planet Oa to be trained by the Green Lantern, Katma Tui. Katma’s former pupil, John Stewart, had finished his training and returned to Earth so to take on the duties of protecting Sector 2814.
Actor Michael P. Greco provided the voice for Kyle Rayner with the young hero first appearing in the seventh episode of the third season of Superman: The Animated Series, ‘In Brightest Day.’

Part 3 of my unnamed au
Tim warned him that being on this new earth might make him forget the previous world. Wally fought daily to remember how things used to be. And even had forgotten his own children. So on his first night on this new earth. He went to the nearest store and grabbed some art supplies.
Kyle Rayner had taught him how in what felt like eons ago. And even though his schooling had always been chaotic. He had kept up the habit.
Clark couldn’t even draw a circle. So he had always been pretty proud of this one skill he had over him.
So on his first night back on earth he drew the face of everyone he had ever cared about.
Because he was one of lucky ones who managed to claw his way back.
He remembered and he was not allowed to forget.
He drew Ma and Pa first. The duo sitting on a porch holding hands. The embodiment of unconditional love like he remembered.
He drew Chris next. The child and the adult. A hero in both form with Mon-El beside him. He didn’t know how the future would work. But he hoped he had made it.
The Supergirls were next, Linda, Mae and Cir-El flying through the night sky.
Then came his fellow members of Young Justice. He did a group shot of the entire team of Young Justice back at the Mountain. Anita, Greta were gone and Slobo had been replaced with a daughter named Crush. But in this picture they were here where they belonged.
He did another for his fellow Titans as well. Aquagirl, Kid Devil, Kid Eternity, Static, the numbers of missing titans felt endless. But still he drew.
Even Match got a sketch.
He wrote notes on the back of each of them to make sure he never forgot his relationship to any of them.
Littering the apartment with heroes that no longer were.
The next day he looked up the others that were alive.
And that somehow managed to be so much harder.
He found her first.
Tana. Younger than one he remembered. This one looked barely out of high school. But alive and thriving as a intern at a news station in Hawaii.
Whatever they had been…most days it was too hard to describe. But she had been his first love that much was clear. Killed out of revenge and given a second chance. Who was he to ever darken her door again?
Roxy had become a influencer with her dad as her manager. Her face slapped on billboards. She seemed happy.
Lori was one of the hardest to find. His cousin was the one flower that blossomed from the dirt of the Luthor name. Lex had buried her existence deep. It took Tim to finally track her down to some to exclusive boarding school in Sweden as a full time student. Compared to the girl who lived for her mom in Smallville. She hadn’t seen any of her relatives in years. Not that he could blame her. This Lena Luthor didn’t seem to fall far from the tree.
But she was safe.
And that’s all that mattered.
He drew all of them too. Because even if they were alive and even if they didn’t remember him, he could not forget.
Their ghosts could not stop haunting him.
He wouldn’t let it.

DC Legacy
The basic premise of this is that the time has come for older heroes to step down and the next generation take their place. Clark Kent is now the editor and owner of the Daily Planet and vows to lead them into the future while keeping their dedication to the truth. Diana Prince is now Queen of the Amazons and has relinquished her title as Wonder Woman though she still joins the Justice Society when needed. Bruce Wayne has become mayor of Gotham City and intends to use the power of the office to fight crime at the root. However the intensified spotlight means he must give up the cowl. Others such as Oliver Queen have stepped down from active duty to become teachers to the next generation, passing down their skills and knowledge. JLA: Tower of Babel
Martian Manhunter is taken down by a group of assassins led by Talia Al Ghul. J'onn is targeted first as he can communicate through telepathy which would ruin Ra's plan of stopping all communication throughout the world.
J'onn is hit with nanite that keep him on fire when he is exposed to open air, fire is J'onns biggest weakness. While on fire he flees to the Black Forest in Germany which he sets alight drawing the attention of Flash, Wally West, and Wonder Women who realise it is J'onn after temperately putting him out.
At a United Nations meeting Aquaman and Plastic Man reveal that they are also being targeted by Assassins which right after they arrive League of Shadow Assassins hit Plastic Man with liquid nitrogen. While protecting Plastic Man, Aquaman is hit with a modified fear gas to make him scared of water. When Arthur is knocked down Plastic Man is shattered with a hammer while in his frozen form.
The justice league minus Batman and Green lantern, Kyle Rayner, gather in the Watchtower where Plastic Man is put back together by the Flash, which i can only imagen was really gross, J'onn is put into a tank with water to stop his skin from setting itself on fire and Aquaman is working himself through the fear gas. They discuses two details that being that the Justice League is under attack and the Assassins have a deadline. Batman is made aware of the attacks but does not join the rest of the league as his is tracking down his parents dead body's which were stolen.
Ra's gets ready to enact the main part of his plan and Clark returns to the daily planet, there Perry throws a newspaper at him which he opens just as Ra's main plan starts. On opening the paper he only see's random letters on the page and after looking outside he realises that it isn't just the paper that has messed up letters.
Wonder Women and Flash, Wally West, break into Kyle, Green Lanterns, apartment because he won't open the door. In the apartment they see Kyle sat on a stool completely blind.

Connor has called Ollie solely "dad" since Quiver why is he calling him "Ollie" now 😭😭😭
This is mean but I laughed out loud when Connor said Tim was the first person he talked about when he was figuring out being ace years ago. Lol. Lmao even. Tumblr really gaslit that poor writer into thinking Connor and Tim had an actual friendship with all their clamoring about him being with the wrong Bat huh. "Where were you?" GEE I didn't know you had to give daily updates to that one kid you teamed up a few times and had some friendly banter with. I love queer solidarity and the whole thing about us finding each other before we even know we're queer but. NO Connor would not have talks about his sexuality with Tim. Cmooooon you're telling me the first person he'd talk to about being ace wouldn't be Kyle "you can tell me if you're gay, Connor" Rayner?
At least that "this is just another thing me and Ollie don't have in common" anxiety is something already established. Like, that's basically the same thing he says to Roy when Roy takes him to that strip club even if it's an issue by Winick (do you ever stop to think about how unintentionally well laid out Connor being ace is and lose your mind a little bit?)
I'm just. Really sad about how Ollie and Connor's relationship is being presented to this new generation of readers. It's like we regressed to the time Ollie was dead, ya know? And I don't like Connor solely for his relationship with his dad, I want him to be a character on his own. But I can't help but being saddened by how he is losing his relationship with everyone that matters. For better or for worse, at least the new GA series is gonna have him interacting with his family (but what about Kyle, Eddie, Jansen and Moonday, ya know?)
The thing is that the story is good and I like its message. It just... Could be with any other character
im tempted to post this without an "answer" because its really well laid out and deserves to be a post on it's own. but i just rlly like ur points and want to interact with them so.
i think there were a few times between quiver and now where he interchangebly used dad and ollie but i get what you're saying, referring to him like hes estranged still was odd.
i totally agree, the idea of queer solidarity is important and should be shown, but i think this was a weird choice to go with. i think the most intimate (from my memory, i havent reread connor's run in a while) question connor ever asked tim was whether batman was his dad (at that time the answer was still no, as jack hadn't been killed yet). and that was only asked because connor was still his charmingly-awful-at-secret-identities-self. the part of their limited friendship that was interesting was the dynamic of new-sidekick-legacy meets new-main-legacy (for lack of a better descriptor), both struggling to uphold what they thought was expected of them. they never got to really advance from that stage of knowing each other to being at a place where they are friends out of costume, let alone discuss their SEXUALITIES.
i agree that the not being in common thing was a nice nod to past character complexities, though it felt slightly like it was the writer genuinely believing that to be true, and not just a rehash of connor's complicated feelings.
i know, its a weird stage we're at now, the resistence to fully accepting the connor that came from the end of his green arrow run, not just the beginning of it. by the end he had come to peace with being green arrow, and not being his father but that being okay. and that's not to say this is all the current writers fault (though williamson has done absolutely no favours with his writing), as winick and krul absolutely demolished any character connor had for their angst and whatever. (remember when connor aggressively yelled at mia for complaining about being stalked by zatanna without being told? or when after being turned into plastic and losing his memories he then decided he hated buddhism and oliver?). (not to mention the seperation from eddie jansen moonday kyle and. despite all of this complaining. tim cass and steph. winick set this precident and i will never forgive him)
i agree, it had good framework, and it couldve been a much more cohesive story if they. had just not used this friendship.

Headcanon - Kyle Rayner
Age and Appearance
Kyle is somewhere in his mid-20s
He stands at 5’11”, weighing in at 175lbs; his build is slender and reasonably toned, but nowhere near the extent of most other superheroes.
He keeps his black hair mostly short, if a bit shaggy on top. His eyes are a dark greenish brown.
Kyle generally favors comfortable clothing, and generally things that won’t be hurt too badly by things like pastels and graphite smudges. The only thing that fits him like a glove is his Green Lantern uniform; everything else fits, but usually looks like he bought it at a thrift store. Which he probably did.
Personality
Through most of his life Kyle has generally had his head in the clouds, taking a largely lackadaisical, carefree approach to life. Since being given the Green Lantern ring his irresponsibility has eased up quite a bit, but he still has a tendency to slack off or put off things that he really probably shouldn’t. Outside of his work as a Lantern Kyle still has a little more difficulty than he’d care to admit with actually getting – and keeping – his priorities in the right order.
Due to the circumstances behind his receiving his ring, and the rather long shadow cast by his predecessor Hal Jordan, Kyle still occasionally struggles with insecurity. He’s sure of his position and his right to bear the ring and the title, he’s just not sure he can actually live up to the reputation Hal left behind.
Kyle is a stubborn son of a bitch who refuses to back down when he’s sure he’s in the right. This can – and has – resulted in serious trouble, but it’s also saved his bacon more than once, considering his ring draws its power from its bearer’s will.
As an artist, Kyle often sees beauty in places others might not. When not actively on duty it’s not uncommon for him to have a sketchbook and pencil on-hand in the event of sudden inspiration or if he sees something he really wants to draw.
He’s an absolute pop culture nerd. Movies, comics, books, anime, video games; when he has spare time that’s not being used for creative pursuits he’s probably busy enjoying something geeky.
Abilities [taken from the Fandom wiki page; I know, I know, they’re shitty, work with me here]
Green Lantern Ring Mastery: Kyle's constructs are among the most powerful ever recorded for a Green Lantern. They are also much more elaborate, often fading into view like a sketch refined into an illustration, and tend to be far more imaginative as well. Most notably, Kyle’s ring is unaffected by the color yellow, and does not need to be recharged daily. It also does not work for anyone else, even former Lanterns; Kyle is the only one able to wield his ring.
Master Artist: Kyle is a skilled and creative artist. He has been an artist since he was born and has an equally long history of creativity. He has drawn, painted, sculptured, photographed, inked, colored, designed, and created thousands of works of art with or without his ring.
Indomitable Will: Like many Green Lanterns, he possesses an incredibly strong will. He has been able to resist Queen Bee's hypnotic pollen (through some coaxing from Huntress) which no one has been able to resist in the past. In addition, Mageddon tried to disable his ring but the Ultimate Warbringer was no match for Kyle's will.
Miscellaneous
Kyle’s favorite art style is Art Deco
He continues to work as a freelance artist and graphic designer.
Kyle can work with digital tools, but he will always prefer physical media for his artwork. It's just more satisfying for him.
He is an absolute hopeless romantic
One of his favorite video game characters is Kitagawa Yusuke from Persona 5. It’s an artist thing.
Kyle is fluent in Gaeilge, thanks to his mother's upbringing and insistence. He keeps it up out of habit more than anything else.

Setups and Letdowns
Hey there, inadvertent consumption of spiders. Amazingly, we're going to hit the halfway mark of this series on Halloween. Could anything be more fitting? But we gotta get through this week's issue first!
Here's the cover:
And I see your true colours shining through~ Red, right? It's red? Jason Todd's true colours are red? Because he's the Red Hood? It also appear to be the colour he's forcing Donna to glow, despite the yellow lightning discharging from his gun for some reason. Kyle is so horrified, he can only light up his ring like a spotlight instead of doing anything to stop Jason. Bob, however, is a Monitor, and therefore well-versed in waffling about whether he should do something. Anyway, I'm sure this cover isn't a spoiler or anything!
In today's recap, the Multiverse Crew are seeing red about the return of Monarch to the plot. Karate Kid is still dying, and that's left him feeling pretty blue. Mary Marvel is tickled pink about her newfound turn to evil. Pied Piper and Trickster are white with fear about getting caught by the Suicide Squad again. Jimmy Olsen has just met Forager, and is green with envy that her powers actually work. And Harley Quinn and Holly Robinson have proven they aren't yellow by making it to Athena's training ground island. Orange you dying to find out what happens next~?
So this takes place post-Battle for Bludhaven, which I may or may not have mentioned at some point. It's responsible for the current inclusion of Monarch, so it's at least tangentally relevant in the grand scheme of things. Also directly relevant, as Buddy Blank, Karate Kid, and Una are using some sort of super-tank to explore its blasted-out ruins. Like, I know it was bombed by dropping a giant chemical-based supervillain on it, but I don't know if even that would give it this much of a green haze. Maybe it's not even radioactive, and Chemo was just filled with glow-in-the-dark green paint.
If you thought that was going somewhere by being the opening page, it doesn't actually do much but get us used to the bright green glow as we cut over to Kyle Rayner using his powers to punch out Monarch and nab Donna Troy from Forerunner's clutches. A battle breaks out between the Extremists, Monarch and Friends, and the Multiverse Pals. Which I thought they already did, but this time the Crime Syndicate guys aren't involved. Also, Jokester is still dead on the floor, just to rub that in our faces some more. Anyway, Jason knifes a fish guy, then proposes that he wants to join up with Monarch.
Over at the Daily Planet building in Metropolis, Forager is still bugging (ha!) Jimmy Olsen to join her and help her find the missing souls of the New Gods. She proposes that not doing so will destroy reality and create the Fifth World. Jimmy would be pretty bummed if all reality was destroyed, and he did kind of sign up for this kind of this thing by wanting to be a superhero. So he agrees, and Forager immediately vapourises them both with an energy ball, and they disappear. At least, that's what it looks like to everyone else working in the office. I hope Jimmy remembers to explain this later!
So maybe you remember a brief appearance by Shadowpact to set up them appearing in a plot to confront Mary Marvel. Shadowpact was cool. They formed in the aftermath of Day of Vengeance, and got their own series post-One Year Later. The team consisted of Nightshade, Blue Devil, Enchantress, Night Master, Ragman, and Detective Chimp, and they operated out of an extra-dimensional bar called the Oblivion Bar. Sadly, they never got much exposure after their series ended, but it's implied they did stay a team, as you often see them in cameos together. This woulda been right during their heyday, though.
I bring all this up because, A) Shadowpact was a much more interesting book than this one and I'd rather be reading that. And 2) if you thought that setup was goig somewhere, we rejoin the Shadowpact already laid out from a fight in the Oblivion Bar, Mary Marvel and Eclipso having defeated them off-screen. This one I especially don't think can be explained by a tie-in. This is just dumb story. And while the Shadowpact aren't out, they're still pretty down. They struggle a bit longer, which I don't know why couldn't have been the initial point of contact, but eventually Eclipso gets bored of the fight and warps her and Mary out.
Over on Themyscria, Holly Robinson, Harley Quinn, and a couple other incidental girls who survived the trip are now all relaxing in a military-esque bunk, wearing fancy white bathrobes and nothing else. They're shooting the breeze, when an armoured Amazon comes in and calls them to attention. Holly protests that they're exhausted, having just swam all the way here through shark-infested waters. The Amazon replies that she can prove they're not exhausted, by having them chased down by snarling, angry dogs. I'm gonna need you to show your work on that one, Ms. Amazon…
In a secret location, Pied Piper and Trickster de-cloak and take out two guards leading Two-Face down the hall. Clearly their stow-away plan went off without a hitch. I also want to note that Two-Face is drawn exactly like his Batman Forever incarnation. I dunno what that means, if anything, but it was something I noticed. Two-Face flips a coin and decides to tell them what he knows. So the guys disappearing all the supervillains? It's DC's preeminent super-spy organisation, Checkmate. They've even gotten big names like Joker and Lex Luthor. And they're sending them somewhere far away.
Piper and Trickster are even more unnerved by this, and they ask Two-Face to come with them. And despite the fact that Trickster proposed last issue that they try and save everybody so that they'd all owe them, the pair decide to just bail and go on the run again. They steal a Humvee and go racing out the gate, arguing all the while at how spooked this has them. Meanwhile, Two-Face's coin clearly didn't come heads-up, since he's just standing around in the base looking at the unconscious guards and wondering what to do next. It's kind of comedic, I guess.
Back over with the Multiverse Pals, Monarch tells Jason that killing an enemy combatant doesn't exactly prove much about his convictions. I mean, considering Donna and Kyle have gone out of their way to not kill ayone, it's something. But Jason decides to commit to his bit and takes Bob's gun. Bob just kind of lets this happen, as if it wouldn't be really easy for the big powerful Monitor to stop the non-powered human from jacking his sidearm. And the comic ends with Jason shooting Donna with a laser gun, just as depicted on the cover, so this really isn't as shocking a moment as the comic wants to pretend.
Well, I guess on the one hand, I'm glad we're back to the nothing-burger setup issues. Like, the only thing that actually happens in this issue is that Jason shoots Donna. It's such the only significant event that they put it on the cover, coz they really had nothing else. But even that, being a cliffhanger, still feels like setup, doesn't it? At least I'm not infuriated at this one, that's about all the praise I can give it. "At least it didn't manage to make me angry." Only other praise I've got for it is that it's another one that managed to make a cameo by all six plotlines. Even Darkseid got in there, as a full-page splash of him playing with his chess set again that I didn't mention. Because all he did was move his Buddy Blank figure, in a panel that took a full page. Somehow this comic turned even Darkseid into a nothing-burger~
