Genesis 1-3, God shows his mercy
I've never been super religious, but I was born Methodist. I've recently decided to incorporate the readings from the book "A One-Year Guide, The Bible Recap" by Tara-Leigh Cobble.
In Genesis 1-3, God shows his mercy toward Adam and Eve after they ate from the tree of knowledge. Personally, the bible has always been difficult for me to read and often I would give up before even starting. But recently we (the kids and I during our homeschool sessions) have been reading this book written by Tara-Leigh Cobble called The Bible Recap. We read each day, which is bout 2 pages per…

Surely I am with you always!
Surely I am with you always!  by Octavius Winslow“And surely I am with you always, even to the very end of the world.” Matthew 28:20   Are you going through a sorrowful affliction?   What a Friend,    what a Brother,      what a Helper,        is Jesus!   Never–no never, does He leave His suffering child to travel that mournful night unvisited and unsoothed by His presence.   He is with you…

In Jesus Name We Pray
I love the church I attend currently. It is a church full of the love of God and teaches correctly from the Bible. The church has a very loving atmosphere and is clearly being led by the Spirit in its endeavors. However, there is something that has bothered me from the first time I set foot into the worship service. When the pastors pray corporately to the congregation, they typically end the…

Wisdom teaches us to focus more on the quality than the quantity of things, and this is so because wisdom is an excellence, a perfection. And this fact transmits the importance of wisdom, because wisdom does not stay in the appearance of things, but goes to the deepest causes, that is why wisdom is capable of giving to men valuable counsel. No matter how many, the master of wisdom Ben Sira taught, but the good is surely always the best, he affirmed; and he left as an example the number of children for a man, and this is so because longevity and peace are far from sinful children: "Do not yearn for worthless children, or rejoice in wicked offspring. Even if they be many, do not rejoice in them if they do not have fear of the LORD. Do not count on long life for them, or have any hope for their future. For one can be better than a thousand; rather die childless than have impious children!" Ben Sira 16:1-3. And then Ben Sira continued and sought to give us a similar teaching, but from another point of view: "Through one wise person a city can be peopled; but through a clan of rebels it becomes desolate" Ben Sira 16:4. The wise man told that a single but sufficiently intelligent man can give life to an entire city, and we see this example in the life of the macedonian Alexander the Great, who having arrived in the land of Egypt founded the city of Alexandria, this famous city eventually became the second most important city in the ancient world after Rome. But the wise man also told us, a large group of perverts, can destroy a city and without saying it directly with this he referred to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah that were destroyed due to the perversion of their inhabitants. In conclusion, better a little but good than a lot but bad.

The tenderness of God
The tenderness of God (John MacDuff, “The Night Watches”)  LISTEN to audio!   Download Audio “He will feed His flock like a Shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.”  Isaiah 40:11  How soothing, in the hour of sorrow, or bereavement, or death–to have the countenance and sympathy of a tender earthly…

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29
Before you start a conversation, pause for a moment and think, "Is this going to build or break someone?" While it’s much easier to speak first and think later, this almost always ends up in careless and unwise words. Considering our words before we utter them saves us from a lot of heartbreak and bitterness. Kind, encouraging, and uplifting words are always more beneficial than those that do the opposite.
Since I can only apologize but never take back what I speak, it makes sense to carefully consider my words beforehand. Some things are better left unsaid.
Prayer: Merciful God, Let the words of my mouth be pleasing to You and beneficial to others. Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
