40 day Love Dare Challenge
Some of you may have heard of the Love Dare, but for those of you who haven't, it's a 40 day challenge for husbands and wives to understand and practice unconditional love. This is a journey you should take, whether your marriage is strong or hanging by a thread.
Day 3
Love is not selfish
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor. —Romans 12:10
TODAY'S DARE
Whatever you put your time, energy, and money into will become more important to you. It’s hard to care for something you are not investing in. Along with refraining from any negative comments, buy your spouse something that says, “I was thinking of you today.”
I challenge you to take the dare! It's actually harder than you might think. If you stumble on a certain dare, repeat the challenge on the next day. Teach yourself to love, honor and respect your spouse again...
I will post a new dare each day for 40 days. Do you dare to take the chance?

Daring Myself To Be Patient.
Love is patient. I can’t think of many truer statements except maybe something like “chocolate is life.” Or “Sleep is awesome,” but “love is patient” is up there. I have a soft spot for the cliche and the verse that it comes from.  Brian and I used it in our wedding and we later scooped up this plaque when we saw it at a garage sale or a thrift store, I can’t remember. I hung it in the bathroom…

As I said before, I grew up watching the Olympics with my mother.
And there was one year when I was pretty young that we had a conversation while watching that has always stuck with me (I think it was the '96 games in Atlanta, during which I was 7).
We were also following along with the medal counts in school and celebrating all of America's wins as a class, which felt very fun and patriotic. So I noticed in contrast that my mom would often cheer for other teams and get excited when people from different countries won. And I asked her why.
She said something along the lines of "Of course it's exciting when your own team wins. But the American athletes have a lot of advantages. And I like to cheer for the underdog too."
It was clear that I didn't understand what she meant by advantages, so she asked me why I thought the Americans won so many medals. I answered something like "Because they are the best? Or maybe because they work the hardest?"
She replied "It's important for you to understand that everyone who makes it to the Olympics is very talented and works very hard. They deserve to be celebrated. But most of the athletes from America have more time and money to spend on things like the best equipment and the best training. Many of the other countries that get a lot of medals are like this too. They do the best they can to make the games fair, but that doesn't mean everyone has the same opportunities. So it's even more impressive in some ways when someone who doesn't have those advantages wins."
Looking back on this, I take away 2 major things. One is that my mom did a great job teaching me about privilege before we developed the current language we have for those ideas. And the other is that I really appreciate all the situations she used as learning opportunities for me and never talked down to me even when I was very young. The fact that it stuck just proves the value of those conversations. You're never too young to learn!

there's no way you could convince me that percy and rachel weren't the best of fucking buddies. rachel stayed spending the night at the apartment and painting cool designs on percy's nails. and i just know percy had that face mask and skin care routine ready. and you better believe they were awake well past the crack of dawn. the 'wicked' soundtrack quietly underscoring their gossiping sessions about the latests scandals. and sharing conspiracies that would get them cancelled if the walls could talk. maybe it didn't have to be romantic!!! maybe all it had to be was good!!!! don't even play with me right now!!!!

Day 4
Love is thoughtful
How precious also are Your thoughts to me. . . . How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. —Psalm 139:17–18
TODAY'S DARE
Contact your spouse sometime during the business of the day. Have no agenda other than asking how he or she is doing and if there is anything you could do for them.
I challenge you to take the dare! It's actually harder than you might think. If you stumble on a certain dare, repeat the challenge on the next day. Teach yourself to love, honor and respect your spouse again...

Last night I had two of my brother's kids here, including my little chess buddy, and he (of course) wanted to play chess
Except, I'm going on vacation starting tomorrow and it's been a HELL of a week for me at work trying to get everything ready and it's left me mentally depleted by the end of the day every single day, so I was like, "Bud, I am so tired, it wouldn't even be a battle right now. You'd just pummel me in two seconds flat."
But he kept asking, and I am Weak, so I eventually caved. About five minutes into the game, I get his queen.
Now, I need you to know that he has never once had his queen taken where he handled it with any kind of grace. He gets UPSET when his queen is taken. But he barely blinked this time.
Instead, he just looks at me and says, "See, I told you that you could still beat me."
And just the way he said it. I was like, "Wait a second. ARE YOU LETTING ME WIN?"
And he says, perfectly serious, "Yes. I'm proving you can still beat me when you're tired."
I've never let him win a game a day in his life but he's gonna go easy on me??? ON ME?????
Needless to say, I made him start the game over. I'll win fair and square or not at all, you little shit

To the people saying "Jason wouldn't have jumped into tartarus for Piper, like Percy did for Annabeth" as a way to demean him. Jason, plunged into the sky from the grand canyon to catch Piper in the first few pages of the lost hero without even knowing who she was, and without the knowledge that he could fly. so he basically jumped to his death attempting to catch her. In the first few pages of his journey, he didn't mind dying to save Piper, and ironically, that's also what he did in the last few pages of his journey. Y'all just be making the most out of pocket claims abt jason fr
