thank you @ursulakats for convincing me to give the German dub a chance. And I can recommend it! I do admit I cheated and skipped straight to the scene where the cat king and edwin meet because I wanted to see how that played out and I do like it. The cat king's voice is definitely a little softer I guess? You used "sweet" and I can see that, yeah. It's solid work, though. And the nuances so far are really interesting, like in the original, it's "you're oddly handsome" and in the dub it's "you're obnoxiously handsome" like he's really bothered by it which is all kinds of hilarious. also edwin phrasing every command or exclamation as a polite (read: passive-aggressive) question is peak comedy ("may I know what this is?" instead of "what the bloody hell is this?" or "Would you be so kind [as to remove it]?" rather than "kindly remove it.")

honourable mention goes to "it binds you to this town" instead of "it keeps you in this town" which is absolutely fascinating when it shifts the meaning from "it keeps you here with me" to "it binds you to me, in a sense"

Ooh, I just read your latest lee! Dazai ler! Kunikida fic and I loved it so, so much! If it's okay, can I please request a lee! Kunikida ler! Dazai + Atsushi fic? KuniLEEda needs to relax if you know what I mean XD. So Dazai is rough, kneading into Kunikida's ribs in a way that's making the latter lose it and he somehow convinces Atsushi to join him. Atsushi being the sweet boi he is, goes really soft and gentle on Kunikida, making Dazai go soft too. In the end, all that's left is a giggly pile consisting of a tiger, a poet, and a... Dazai. Feel free to decline and have a lovely day!

“Help me tickle Kuni, will you?”

Atsushi stared- not sure if his daze was from how fast the brunette moved or by the offer itself. He knew this would happen- tickle fights never stopped at just one person here at the agency.

“Dazai, get off!” Kunikida’s yell snapped him out of his daze, bringing him back to the present. Said poet was flailing about beneath the giggling detective, grabbing at the hands reaching for his sides. “This is ridiculous! Get back to wohork!”

“Ooo, get back to work he says!” Dazai managed to wiggle a hand free, pinching at his waist and making Kunikida flinch. “Ooo, be productive! Look at me, I’m Kunikida- I’m so serious and grumpy all the time! I forgot how to relaaaaax.” He turned back to Atsushi with a devious smile, jerking his chin over. “Come on, Atsushi! Don’t be shy- get in here!”

“Erm..”

“Atsushi, don’t you da-Ahahahhahahre!” Any words of resistance Kunikida had left were lost in snickery noises, his arms shooting down to his sides in a vain attempt to block him out. “Geheheheht hihihim ohohoohff!”

“No, tickle him Atsushi! He won’t bite! Not you anyway..”

More snickers, a few more enticing invites and a wagged brow from Dazai finally convinced him. “Oh okay. Just this once.” The weretiger grinned as he dashed over, throwing himself into the fray and nearly knocking Dazai out. “Come here!”

“Gah! Nohohoho! Nohohot you toohoohoho! Shihihiihihihiahahahhaah!” Kunikida yelled out, his snickers expanding into proper laughter at the extra hands. His efforts to scrunch up were proven futile as Dazai recaptured his hands, lifting them up and giving Atsushi room to attack. “Dahahahhahamn yohoohohohohou, Dahahhahhahahzahahhahai!”

”Awwww! I love you too, Kuni! Isn’t he just the sweetest thing when tickled, Atsushi?” Dazai cooed sweetly, unfazed at the profanities the blonde was shouting at him. Keeping his grip firm, he gathered both wrists into one hand as he brought his other hand to get him in the armpit. “He has such a delicate laugh for someone so strict!”

“This is delicate?” Atsushi blurted out, voice nearly lost in the boom of Kunikida’s mirth.

“To me it is! Make sure you get him real good here! Oh, and here~” He dragged his hand down to Kunikada’s waist, tapping at the skin towards his back. “He’s really ticklish back here.”

“You must tickle him a lot to know all that.” The weretiger hummed in amusement as he brought his hands to Kunikida’s waist, turning his hands into claws that reached all the way around. “Now that I think about it- he knows pretty much all your own tickle spots too. Is this a common occurrence?”

“The hehehehell it ihihihihihihiis! Be quhuhuhuuiet, Ahahhahtsushi!” Kunikida squawked through his laughter, finally turning his daggers towards the weretiger. Dazai merely wagged his brows, the answer a secret on his lips.

“Get him good, Atsushi.”

Atsushi did as told, bringing his clawed nails gently against the sensitive skin, relishing in the way the poet arched and cackled. “Hey it’s working!”

“Of course it is! I know my stuff!”

”GEHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH! SHUHUHUHUT THE HEHEHELL UHUUHP DAHAHAHZAIHAHAHI!! AHAHHAHATSUHUHUHUHUSHIHIHIHIHI!” Kunikida flopped about like he was having an exorcism, cheeks heating up and smiling wide enough to split his face in half. He tugged at Dazai’s grip so intensely he nearly dragged him down against him. “YOHOHOHOU TWOHOHOHOOHO SUHUHUHUUHUCK!”

“Hehe, sure we do.” Atsushi grinned. “That’s why you’re not fighting back nearly as much as you could, right Dazai?”

“You’re finally getting it.” Dazai sniffed like a proud mom, making the other boy laugh.

“AHEHAHAHAH! AHHEHAHHAHA SHIIHIHIHIIHT! GEHHAHA! OHOHOOKAY, OHOHOKAY STAHAHAHAP!” Kunikida sounded near shrill, face burning and laugh near mute.

Alas, all good things must come to an end. Kunikida’s giggle fits started to have a wheeze to them, signaling that he was at his limit. Dazai released his hands, gently tugging Atsushi back by his suspenders as the blonde gasped for air. “Let him breathe, Atsushi.”

Pulling his hands back, the weretiger was practically thrown off as Kunikida thrashed, rolling to safety with his arms around his torso- glaring daggers. He looked like a spooked cat, wild eyed and teeth grit. “Yohohou twohoho…”

He knew he should be scared. He knew he should probably run for his life- look for a good hiding spot until Kunikida’s rage subsided.

Instead, he giggled- the sight of the blonde too funny for him.

The poet blinked, as did Dazai. Atsushi’s giggles got worse, and before long he was laughing properly- falling back oh his butt and kicking his feet as he held his belly. Any previous rage faded from Kunikida’s expression as he started to smile. “You’re such a brat.”

“Gahahhaa! Ahehahahahahaha! I’m shahahrry! I’m shahaharry-” The weretiger wheezed out, eyes misting with laughter. “Yoohohu look so fuhuhuhunny!”

Dazai busted out laughing soon after, finally breaking down Kunikida’s own defense. They sat there laughing, the entire scenario stupid and silly and just what they all needed.

Maybe the work could wait. For just a little longer.

I like fics where Edwin is hurt and Charles has to save him, sue me! This is another great entry in that genre featuring worried Charles hitting the books.

A brilliant idea according to Charles, but for Edwin it might have been more than he can chew... My Notes: This is my biggest fluff recommendation! Technically it is a case fic, but the case is pretty loose and the fic is more about them sorting out their issues in therapy (but in a fun way I swear!)

The Case of What Comes After - Series By: HowYouDoing (FancyMeetingYouHere) Rating: T Tags: Post-S1, Traumas, Hurt/Comfort Summary: Working It Out - “And you think you’re your dad,” Crystal fills his sudden silence, tear-tracks on her angry face, “and that Edwin would be your mom, and that you’re somehow destined to have the exact same relationship as them if you ever admitted to yourself that you’re in love with Edwin.” Or, Crystal pops the question about whether Charles is in love with Edwin or not, and Charles proceeds to go down a full rabbit-hole of feelings and trauma. Charles, very unanimously, decides this is that time. My Notes: Charles dealing with how he doesn't want his and Edwin's relationship to be like his parents' hits my deep in my heart. And in the sequal Edwin gets to deal with some of his truama too.

The Ghostly Potion Debacle of '24 By: NuriaSchnee @nuria-schnee Rating: M Tags: Romance, Fluff, Angst with a Happy Ending, Protective Charles Rowland Summary: Charles gets hit by a potion that makes your biggest worries disappear. The good news? The witch that made the potion is a little incompetent, and the potion is faulty. The bad news? Charles had been obsessing about how to confess to Edwin for months, and the potion has made Edwin completely invisible to Charles. My Notes: Charles really goes through it in this one. He is forced to face his inner worries and deal with them directly. The whole thing is very stressful! (in a good way!)

The Hour of Separation By: Safaia @safaiagem Rating: M Tags: Case Fic, Revenge, Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Protective Charles Rowland, Protective Edwin Payne Summary: The problem with solving big, flashy cases and going international is that you become well-known. Word came down about everything the Dead Boy Detectives managed to do in Port Townsend, and they have never been busier. The problem with becoming more well-known is that you don't always draw the kind of attention you want. You might jump onto the radar of someone with a grudge just looking for an excuse. Technically, it is part of a series, but it can be easily read as a stand-alone. My Notes: The tension in this one is strong, as well as the protectiveness of the boys. Also, slight spoiler so if you don't want that stop reading, I appreciate that the boys get together in the middle rather than the end! It is nice to see them face the final threat as a couple rather than having them get together at the end.

The lamps are going out By: CasiHuman @technically-human Rating: T Tags: AU - Canon Divergence, Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending Summary: Evil spirits, vengeful spirits. At the time, he didn't yet have the words to explain what had happened to him –even though, without a frame of reference, he could still tell something was wrong– They formed when a ghost felt an awful injustice had befallen them, and few ghosts could claim to have been as wronged by everything as Edwin Payne. He just hoped the boy from the attic wouldn't put two and two together. My Notes: Any fic that expands on ghost lore is great and this one is no exception! I like the idea of Edwin being a vengeful spirit and having there be something wrong with him. It adds something to the boys dynamic that is really interesting.

ʚїɞ This took way too long ;-; It's also the longest thing I have written I think, we're also gonna ignore that Christmas in Japan is like valentines for the sake of this post

ཐིཋྀ He doesn't know whether telling you he never really celebrated Christmas was a good idea or not

ཐིཋྀ On one side, he doesn't mind the fact that he did not since he never really saw anything special about it, but on another hand, you're excited about it and he doesn't wanna make you sad by saying he won't celebrate.

ཐིཋྀ Well, he did make you kind of sad when he told you he never really celebrated it, and that the closest he has been to that were the times when he and Chuuya would give each other gifts under a small Christmas tree that wasn't bigger only because they didn't feel like taking it out of Chuuya's apartment in a month.

ཐིཋྀ You managed to get Fukuzawa to make the annual Christmas party the agency has every year a non-skippable event, so Dazai had to come to it this year (The agency has a Christmas party every year but it's more of a ‘you come if you want’, and Dazai didn't bother showing up on any social event that wasn't mandatory)

Dazai didn't know what to think when he got told that he had to come to the Christmas party this year.

”Alright guys, see ya next week!”

“What do you mean? We're seeing each other on Saturday.”

“Huh? Kunikida-kun, you know I won't be at the party as per usual so-”

“Yes, you will be there this year.”

“And how are you so sure of that?”

“Don't think you won, it's mandatory this year, so yes, I will see you on Saturday, Dazai.”

“HUH?!”

He was happy that he at least didn't need to really improvise with the present. Every year there's a lottery on who buys who a present, Dazai was in it every year even if he wasn't at the parties. The presents were mandatory unlike the party, you just needed to leave the present under the tree so it could be given to the person you got, Dazai always found his present in front of his door on that day he will deny the smile he gets at that for the rest of his life.

He got Ranpo this year, and as classic as that was, sweets were the best present for that guy's sweet tooth, and he knew the shorter detective wouldn't complain. What he didn’t know was why Fukuzawa made the social event a must-attend this year. At the past parties, he was perfectly fine not to show up as long as he left the present before the gathering, which he did every year, so why was this year any different?

He got to the agency building shortly after and walked up the stairs, wanting to get the whole socializing thing over with for the day already. He normally wouldn’t mind being at the party that much, but it was a problem this year since it meant he couldn’t be spending the time with you until he was let out. He tried to get Fukuzawa to agree to let you come since you don’t work at the agency and the whole event is for the workers (and otherwise you're gonna be alone until he comes back), but surprisingly for the brunette, the older man didn’t agree to it as the younger one expected, he did agree to let Dazai leave earlier than the rest though.

Naturally, he was the last person to arrive.

“You sorry-waste of good bandages! Where the hell have you been?!”

“Oh? I was just spending my time with my sweet s/o! Something you don’t have at the moment, ku-ni-ki-da-kun~”

“That’s it! You’re going out the window!”

“Already?!”

“Kunikida-san no!”

Atsushi tried to save him and for once succeeded, he’s gotta buy the younger boy some tea on rice soon with his partner's money but who’s to say that?

When he first opened the door to the office, everything looked the same as it did every other year for the most part, and as expected, that’s why he absolutely did not expect the door to the agency to open half an hour into the party. He knew that everyone who was meant to be there was present already, from the main agency members to clerks who didn’t have anyone to spend Christmas with.

So he couldn’t exactly comprehend what was happening when his dear Belladonna appeared at the agency’s entrance.

“Bella! What are you doing here? Not that I’m complaining at seeing your pretty face but I got told you can’t come.”

“And you believed that Fukuzawa-san wouldn’t let me come?”

“...Now that you mention it… it was dumb of me to think that Boss wouldn’t let you come here...”

“At least the surprise was a success.”

“What?!”

That’s when he realized everything. The party being mandatory? You got Fukuzawa to do that. The fact that he couldn’t stay home even tho he has a significant other? Your fault. The party having more decorations done than in other years? You, once again.

“You’re cruel, bella.”

“Why?”

“I thought I wouldn’t be able to spend the day with you :(“

“Oh, love, I’m sorry for that.”

“You’re gonna have to make up for it.”

“Is getting you 5 presents not enough?”

“Not at all! I’m demanding you to add cuddles and kisses to the present bundle, darlin’.”

Why were you laughing when he was serious!? He wanted his daily kisses and the whole affection package! The brunette also had to figure out why you bought five presents for him instead of one, but that’s for later.

“Hey, lovebirds! It’s time to open the presents!”

“Yeah! Ranpo-san is, quite literally, being physically restrained from opening his present…”

On second thought, maybe he actually had missed out on some fun opportunities to tease his friends by not attending the previous parties.

ཐིཋྀ He didn't realize that telling you about how he never celebrated not only because of his past before the sheep, then the whole sheep organization where they just had no way of celebrating it in the slums with their situation, so the only times he did were those few with Dazai under a small Christmas tree, would make you sad😭

ཐིཋྀ Of course, there was the Christmas party that the Port Mafia throws a few days before Christmas every year, but it isn’t really celebrating it in Chuuya’s eyes.

ཐིཋྀ Since Dazai left the only Christmas thing he did (besides the PM party) was exchange presents with Kouyou and the Akutagawa’s with a small dinner at someone’s place, even though none of them decorated their place for that.

ཐིཋྀ He thought it’s gonna stay at that, the only difference being that you joined them this year… turned out he was wrong. Very wrong.

His place was decorated all over once December came (you did way more than you normally do for Christmas just to make his place colorful), but he didn't regret saying yes when you asked if you could do that, because for once his home gave the vibes of Christmas.

Christmas lights, an actual Christmas tree, not like the one he had till 18, small decorations around the house like some garden dwarfs or gnomes that had Christmas outfits, table or dresser decorations (was that a miniature reindeer on the table in front of the TV?) or other small decorations. It brought a smile to the ginger’s face every time he came home for the whole month. 

His plans went downhill when he asked others about the annual dinner. Kouyou was being sent to Europe for a few days, to maybe even 2 weeks, and the Akutagawa siblings had things to do as well. Gin has been assigned multiple missions close to each other and in different cities, making it so she wouldn't be able to be at home for the entirety of Christmas, while Ryuunosuke had not only missions but his training intensified for some reason. Chuuya was sure that something happened to Mori lately and now he’s taking it out on his subordinates.

That’s exactly why he didn’t expect to come back home just to see the trio he always spends Christmas with at his house. All three of them, Kouyou, Ryuu, and Gin told him that they were assigned missions on Christmas and unfortunately wouldn't be able to have dinner that day, that the nearest date they could, would be a few days after Christmas. Yet, they were at his house, the siblings sitting at his kitchen island-

“Do you think that my idea was good?”

“Absolutely not.”

“Ryuu I’m asking for an actual answer.”

“And I’m answering honestly.”

-while his sister figure and his beloved s/o were making goddamn cookies he’s ignoring they were his favourites.

“I’m really not sure about that last ingredient, dear.”

“Trust me Kouyou-san, I always add it.”

“And it tastes good?”

“You always compliment my cookies, no?”

“Very well, I shall allow my worries to fade away.”

“What’s with the sudden Shakespearean wording?”

“I just felt like it.”

As if he wasn’t surprised enough, there were more people. Tachihara whom he wasn’t the closest with, only exchanged some words here and there, could be seen trying to eat one of the cookies fresh out of the oven (Chuuya tried not to laugh when he let out a silent scream due to his tongue being burnt).

“Are you alright?”

“No, it hurts :(“

“You kill people and you want to cry over a slightly burnt tongue?”

“Shut up Gin, it really hurts!”

He has absolutely no idea how you got Elise in here without Mori in the house he was like 95% sure the older man was hiding somewhere in a closet.

“What is it, Elise?”

“I was about to steal a cookie but then I saw Tachihara and decided I won’t.”

“Good decision.”

He could see Hirotsu making tea on the side, the man had been at one of the trio’s dinners before so the old man wasn’t a big surprise-

“May I ask if you guys have any green tea?”

“Yeah, we have some in the cabinet on the far left, middle shelf.” “Thank you- Oh it’s my favorite brand of green tea.”

-And WAS THAT VERLAINE?! He was so confused about how you got the guy out of the PM basement

“Is the tea that good if it’s your favorite?”

“Yes, I have tried many brands yet none of them have come even close to beating this one.” “Hmm… could you make me one cup of it? I would like to try it.” “Of course, no problem.”

“CHUUYA!”

And then he was noticed.

He really didn’t mind the surprise as much as the others thought, it was a nice one.

“We’re sorry for lying Chuuya-san!”

“I was forced into it.”

“No, you were not.”

“I really don’t mind, you two.”

“I hope the cookies came out well, [Name] had let me do most of the baking so I’m hoping that I didn’t do anything wrong.”

“It was your first time baking this recipe, it’s normal to do something wrong, Ane-san.”

“How’s the tongue?”

“You saw that?!”

“Yeah… So?”

“... It still hurts.”

“What are you doing here, midget?”

“I made a deal with [Name]. They let me be here with all of you and in exchange I get Rintaro to give you a day off.”

“Oh.”

He was already making plans in his head for that.

A loyal dog that refused to leave his dead owner's side helped solve her murder by allowing detectives to identify her body, prosecutors said.

Mandy Rose Reynolds, 26, was shot before her body was “burned beyond recognition” in a field fire in Robinson, Texas. Police found her on April 5, 2023, the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office said in a release.

Her cousin Derek Daigneault, 29, of Wichita, Kansas, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for her murder after an investigation that spanned two states, the DA's office said.

And one of the keys to identifying her was her white-haired labradoodle, Titan.

Police found Titan near her body, barking "frantically." He refused to leave the area and wouldn't allow police to capture him, prosecutors said.

The next morning, the body was removed, but a passerby found Titan sitting at the same spot. The good Samaritan called Robinson Animal Control, which found that Titan was microchipped and belonged to Reynolds.

“The keys to this case were a heroic and loyal dog named Titan and extraordinary cooperation between law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions and states. That combination has delivered justice for Mandy and safety from a violent and dangerous criminal,” Assistant District Attorneys Ryan Calvert and Alyssa Killin said in a statement.

Robinson police then learned that Reynolds lived in San Marcos, Texas. San Marcos police were contacted and went to her home but found it empty, with all her possessions removed and her black Honda Accord missing, the news release said.

A license plate database revealed that the car was somewhere in Wichita.

Wichita police were alerted, and on April 8, 2023, they spotted her vehicle and tried to pull it over.

Daigneault was behind the wheel, and the stop attempt ended in a chase that lasted nearly 30 minutes and reached speeds of over 100 mph.

The Accord ultimately crashed into another vehicle, and Daigneault ran away into a nearby grocery store, where “he hid on a shelf behind canned goods,” the DA's office said.

Police found a .380 handgun in the driver’s seat floorboard when they searched Reynolds’ car in Wichita.

Meanwhile, back in Robinson, police determined that the body had been burned in a large plastic storage container, and they found a fired .380 shell casing that was burned inside the container, the release said.

Surveillance video from a Walmart in San Marcos showed Daigneault buying a large plastic storage container identical to the one Reynolds’ boy was burned in, a shovel and a gas can on the morning of April 4, 2023. Video also showed him leaving the store in Reynolds’ car and Titan sticking his head out the window.

The medical examiner eventually formally identified the body as Reynolds’ through dental records. It was determined she died from a gunshot wound to the head, and a .380 bullet was recovered from her remains.

The Texas Department of Public Safety crime lab confirmed the bullet found in her body and the shell casing found by Robinson police were both fired by the handgun in Daigneault's possession, the DA's office said.

Jason P. Darling, an attorney for Daigneault, said Tuesday: “Derek is obviously disappointed in the verdict and sentence. While we appreciate the jury’s work and effort in this case, Derek intends to appeal the verdict and has already filed his notice of appeal.”

As for Titan, the pup was adopted by Reynolds' best friend days after Reynolds died. Calvert told NBC News on Tuesday, "He is doing great!"

Fukuzawa Yukichi, as Kunikida had come to learn, had a great many secrets. Some were inconsequential, like the man's incredible fondness for cats, and some were a great deal more important, like his former acquaintanceship with the port mafia’s boss. But Kunikida had come to understand that if it was important to the safety of the agency or Yokohama, the president would disclose any necessary information.

So when a bouquet of flowers was delivered one morning, addressed to the president, Kunikida brushed it off as just another simple secret. The colors were warm, and he couldn’t help but think of an old adage Kenji had told him: Red at night, sailors delight, red in the morning, sailor’s warning. It was likely a coincidence, but the yellows and reds painted the picture of a violent sunrise so early in the morning. But it was none of his business.

Fortunately for his curiosity, Dazai had no such filter.

“Kenji-kun!” Dazai called across the office once the delivery man had left. “What do those flowers mean?”

“Hm?” Kenji asked, perking up from where he was hunched doing paperwork.

“The flowers that were just delivered, what do they mean?”

“What makes you think they mean anything?” Kunikida snapped, not once looking up from his laptop. “Not to mention it’s none of our business.”

“Aww, Kunikida-kuuun, you’re no fun. Besides, call it a detective's intuition.” He posed, index finger pressed against his forehead and eyes closed pensively.

Kunikida just rolled his eyes.

“Hm, I think they were zinnias, carnations, and peonies. Yellow zinnias mean daily remembrance, and magenta zinnias mean lasting affection, but in a family kind of way. The other two are romantic, dark red carnations mean romantic love, and red peonies love, honor, and respect.”

“Wow, you know alot about flowers,” Atsushi commented in awe.

“That’s because I help the old lady a few blocks over with her shop sometimes, actually I think that delivery guy was from her shop.”

Despite his determination to leave the president's private life alone, Kunikida had two takeaways from that conversation: one, the sender was likely a lover, and two, the flowers were sent from a relatively cheap shop nearby.  A third less important takeaway was that Dazai was still as nosy as ever, not that he’d ever doubted that.

And so concluded the mystery of the flower delivery.

Until the following week when the same delivery boy delivered the same flowers, this time at the end of the day.

The office was still busy as Kunikida and the other agency members filled out paperwork given to them by the gifted special division in the aftermath of the guild conflict. Once again, Kunikida was reminded of the old adage.

A soft scoff sounded from Rampo’s desk where he sat munching on a box of pockies, but Kunikida wasn’t paying attention. Instead he noticed, as the president came out of his office to accept the floors, that the previous bouquet sat wilting in a vase on his desk. It wasn’t strange that they had begun to wilt, but it was quite the coincidence that a new bouquet arrived just as the last started wilting.

It was almost as if the sender knew they’d begun to wilt.

And so the case of the bouquet deliveries was once again reopened as Dazai called out-

“Another bouquet, president? Whoever sent them must really like you, maybe you should send some back!”

Kunikida’s shoulders hunched in as he grit his teeth. Dazai truly had no tact.

“Da-”

“Yes,” the president cut Kunikida off, stopping in front of the door to his office. He gently held a few petals as if examining them, a smile barely resting on his face. “Perhaps I should. Now get back to work, you still have a report on our partnership with the port mafia to finish.”

Dazai let out a groan at the reminder, sinking further into his chair, while the president reentered his office and closed the door behind himself.

“I still can’t believe you kept that from us,” Kunikida grumbled.

“What?”

“That you used to be a part of the port mafia, an executive no less! It never once occurred to you that that may be important information?”

Dazai just shrugged, and Kunikida was so busy scolding him for withholding such important information that he missed the amusement dancing in Rampo’s eyes. After all, if Kunikida thought Dazai had been withholding important information he’d blow a fuse when he found out who was sending the flowers.

And he did. Far sooner than Rampo thought he would, afterall the detective never expected Mori to show up so soon after nearly killing Fukuzawa.

But as the door to the agency opened and Mori Ougai, boss of the port mafia, stepped in, the entire agency jumped to defensive positions. All except Rampo, who continued sucking on a lollipop with his feet kicked up on his desk. He was glad Yosano was out for the day too, as even though she kept her mouth shut he knew she’d rather see Mori dead.

“Tired of sleeping on the couch?”He called, grinning at the confusion that echoed through the office.

“Yes, unfortunately it seems my words alone are not enough and so I have decided a proper apology dinner may be necessary.”

“He’s in his office.”

“Thank you, Rampo-san,” Mori nodded before slowly passing between the desk, wary of any attack that may be sent his way.

He reached the office door without incident, and as he reached for the handle Rampo waved Kunikida and Dazai down. Just as the two stepped closer to Atsushi and Kyouka’s desks, Mori opened the door and ducked as a knife was chucked out.

“I deserved that,” Mori said calmly before righting himself and stepping in.

As soon as the door closed behind him, Dazai turned to Rampo.

“Really? Tanaeda-san sent me to my ex-boss' ex-husband?”

“Ex-hus-husband! What on earth makes you think they were married?!” Kunikida hissed as the other agency members rushed over to convene at Rampo’s desk.

“Mm,” Rampo took the sucker out of his mouth and waved it towards Fukuzawa’s office, “technically they never got divorced, that’s why Mori-san started sending flowers again when we teamed up to fight the guild.”

“The president was married to the port mafia’s boss?!” Atsushi yelled.

“What do you mean again?”

“Why are you so calm about this!”

Using his sucker to point, he went through each question.

First Atsushi’s. “Yes.”’ Then Tanizaki and Naomi’s. “Back when they were together Mori would send flowers all the time, usually I would get a box of sweets,” he pouted, “hey I didn’t get treats this time.” And finally Kunikida. “Because I was a witness.”

“And you never thought that was important to share?”

Rampo shrugged. “It wasn’t my business.”

“Since when do you care what is and isn’t your business?” Kyouka asked.

“Since watching Kunikida blow a fuse is funny.”

auuughhhh uhhh where do i start. you'll have to ask me in a hyperspecific way if you want any coherent answer... guess the height difference is poggers as always. yuma could just walk up into his cape pull it over himself and just hide there . and the fact that yuma is just makoto with a few less extra steps. would yomi just start noticing little things that make him always get reminded of makoto for some reason, or is he just near completely oblivious and if/when he finds out that yuma is his original would he go through all five stages of grief aka denial, denial, denial, denial and acceptance. also i BEG all of the raincoders to just think a little while longer about homunculus x human relationships. like... how does yomi handle the whole *gestures* thingy. or does he not handle it. the dynamic is also real funny and glorious and i (or we... whatever.....) think i popped off with this one. yomi deserves a pathetic tiny fragile purse dog he can pick up like a hamburger and carry everywhere to show off to people like "check out my little pogchamp isnt he so mouse shaped" and yuma deserves an extremely aggressive large guard dog that meows sometimes because good lord that scrawny thing needs at least some semblance of protection at all times. and i said semblance because yomi gets punched once and falls over on the ground scream crying he will not save him in a dire situation. its moreso the intimidation factor you know the illusion of safety. he won't actually be safe with him alone they need a goon entourage. also i made up an entire kokohell au once where yuma instead becomes a peacekeeper and steals seth's job i guess thats also a thing

Akutagawa Ryunosuke X Dazai's Little Sister Reader Your Related To Him?

Dazai kept a lot of things secret in his life especially when he joined The Armed Detective Agency. You see a lot of people didn’t know that Dazai had a little sister that was two years younger than him. And her name is (Y/n) a beautiful girl who is similar to her big brother in every way. However, (Y/n) did not have an ability. So she lived in a small condo safe and sound away from people. 

(The Story Begins)

Akutagawa POV:

It was a nice peaceful day the sun was shining and the birds were singing a beautiful song. It was SICKENING to me. ‘Why did the boss send me out on a crummy morning’ I thought to myself. As I was walking around I saw a beautiful woman. She was around 20 years old and stood at 5’5. ‘I WANT HER’ I thought ‘She is so beautiful’ so I decided to go up to her.

YOUR POV:

I was shopping and running errands so me and my big brother can have a nice dinner tonight. As I was walking to my next destination I noticed a man with black raven like hair, with a long black coat reaching past his knees over black-fitting pants and black dress shoes. Underneath his coat, he dons a white dress shirt, decorated with a layered ruffled fabric. He also had a white jabot on. ‘He is handsome’ I thought ‘WAIT he is walking to me?!?! What am I going to do?’ The man approached me and said “My name is Akutagawa Ryunosuke” “(Y/n) (L/n) pleasure to meet you!” 

And with that we started talking and getting to know each other. One thing led to another and I invited him over to dinner. He said yes and I gave him my address and went home filled with butterflies in my stomach.

Time Skip To You At Home:

As I was cooking preparing things for dinner Dazai noticed I was humming a happy tune and said “well, well, well did my darling little sister meet a guy to comment suicide with?” I rolled my eyes and said “what’s your obsession with dying big brother?” Dazai smiled and looked at me then told me “because I want to die but not in pain.” “What about me? You’re all I have!” I said and hugged Dazai. With that he held me in his arms and said “do you really want me to stay alive?” I nodded “then I will for you, now tell me about this boy.” I blushed and started to speak but then there was someone at the door. “He’s here!!!!” I yelled as my heart pounded in my chest I took of my apron and slowly open the door.  “Akutagawa! Thanks for coming! Akutagawa this is my older brother Da-“ “YOU!” Akutagawa shouted. Dazai grinned and said “well your the guy that stole my baby sister’s heart by the way she was humming I thought she liked someone more attractive.” Dazai shrugged. And Akutagawa said “What the hell is that supposed to mean?!?!” And with that an argument broke out. ‘This is gonna be a fun dinner’ I thought to myself and smiled then began setting the table.

Life since the boys’ high school graduation has been hectic. Bradley, Neilson, and Natalie attended USC and while there Bradley met and fell in love with a co-ed named Sydney James. Harry made it through Princeton and in the meantime shadowed a professional photographer named Matthew Abbott where he met Greta Leoni, a smalltime model who showed up in numerous teen magazines. Kyle ran into Adam’s cousin Zoey while attending NYU, the two rekindled their romance despite Adam’s misgivings. Adam, while living in London met another American student studying abroad, an aspiring photographer named Quinn.

Now all grown up and married with families of their own, the boys are managing careers, marriage, and fatherhood. Bradley and Neilson now work in law enforcement underneath the very same detective who worked to save their lives. Neilson and Natalie ,who became an elementary school teacher are now married and share a son named Joseph aka Joey. Bradley and wife Sydney, a struggling writer, are the proud parents of three daughters, Rachel, Libby, and Mady. Adam now works in Hollywood as a film producer, he and wife Quinn, a professional photographer share two sons, Christian and Chandler. Kyle officially joined Adam’s family when he married Zoey, who now runs her own veterinary clinic, meanwhile Kyle followed up on his aspirations to become a teacher and now teaches and coaches football and the very high school he attended, the two share twins Ethan and Ella who are also accomplished athletes.

Harry attended medical school after college and became a researcher and now works alongside Vicki, who now works as chief of staff, at Hilridge General Hospital in the lab. He and Greta, who now runs her own modeling agency, married and share daughter Gabriela who inherited her father’s academic prowess and love of photography. Romance blossoms between Rachel and Joey who had been best friends since early childhood as well as Chandler and Libby, Gabriela also falls for Adam’s bad-boy son Christian. all while their dads are still making music and performing to sold out audiences. Brian and Vicki’s rekindled romance lead them down the aisle as they finally tied the knot, meanwhile Kellie made things official with Dean and also nabbed the position as DA.

Future events note that Bradley and Neilson become in-laws through Rachel and Joey who end up marrying and welcoming twins of their own, Nickolas and Briana.

Inukei no Kareshi by Kadiro More of a romance comedy about a wolfman and a human. No sex scenes (yet?) but it’s very wholesome and cute. I really like the main character (big surprise) and I always look to see if there’s been an update. It’s generally very wholesome and is more of a slice-of-life but with most of the boring stuff replaced with gayness. The art is also very nice and charming and again I really like the main character. 

[18+] Ai da nante Iwanai kara (We Won’t Call It Love) by HIGURE Kure Mutual-burn childhood romance manga where the guys graduated from school and ended up moving far away to be reunited by both a wedding and a funeral. These men suck at communicating and damn that sure is going to be a loveless marriage but hey, it’s pretty cute otherwise. The sex scenes are bad and boring, but the story is pretty good.

Sweet Rendezvous by HIGURE Kure Blind app dating excepts its people looking for folks to eat food with for whatever reason. Strange concept, but it’s very cute and the romance is subtle but sweet.

 [18+] Matataki no Ao o Tadotte (Follow the Twinkling Blue of the Stars) by COICO Ico The premise of this one is a weird one. It’s a childhood-friend-just-out-of-a-coma-to-lovers type manga… Yeah. Has some weird dynamics like student x teacher but this time it’s actually legal? And the circumstances are questionable and bizarre but it’s a cute read otherwise. I actually don’t remember if there’s any sex scenes so I’ll mark this as 18+ just in case. 

[18+] Torano Tantei Jimusho e Youkoso (Welcome to the Torano Detective Agency) by KUROI Yodaka Peak. In a world where humans and beastmen co-exist in society, it’s a romance between a down-on-his-luck semi-ex delinquent/punk guy and the titled detective of a detective agency. Punk boy needs a job and hits the goldmine of a lifetime (live-in assistant who has all expenses including food paid for as long as they do housework alongside acting as a detective’s assistant) and the two end up having probably the best confession scene I’ve ever seen in manga or anime. Ever. It’s so good. There is one (1) sex scene and it’s really short. This is a really good manga. It even has elements of found family. It’s so good. 

[18+] Koibito Keiyaku-chuni Suki by MATSUDA Io An alright manga. Kind of cute in execution with way too many sex scenes. Weird usage of the fake boyfriend trope and ultimately the plot is so nothing I really couldn’t care less, but the interpersonal love has it where it counts. Feels a little like a stereotypical office romance manga with a boys’ love twist, which is neither here nor there.

Daraku Kazoku-ron (Dysfunctional Family Therapy) by Tsurukame Mayo It’s hard getting a good read on this one. There’s a lot of setup but the setup feels like it isn’t done yet. It seems like it’s trying to be a slow burn but I don’t know for sure… This manga has elements of found family but not in any way you’d expect, and revolves around two men who slept with a woman and now has to figure out who’s going to be the parent now that the mother passed away. The relationships are kind of all over the place so far, but where I was able to read up to it’s clear the intent is for them to have been mutually in love in the past, but it still feels like I don’t super know whats going on.

 Musubime wo Hodoitara (Once You Loosen the Knot) by ICHI Bom Picked this one up without realizing it only had one chapter currently, and it’s alright. I learned some neat things about tea ceremonies at least! I’m interested to see more, though the place I read this at tagged this as “twins” and that scares me, but it may be there just because the love interest may have a twin? Cos it so far has it established that the two boys are from different families. If it turns out that it’s some nasty incest stuff I’m gonna drop it.

 Chiba Kyoukan wa Nabikanai (Professor Chiba Isn’t Flattered) by KINGYOBACHI Deme This manga is a bit strange, but it wasn’t a bad read. It’s about a driving teacher falling in mutual love with one of his (same age) students who turned out to be a shy mangaka. I don’t super like the student-teacher relationship dynamic as a whole but I’m willing to look past it if it’s not super weird or creepy about it… This one was okay.

 [18+] Ore no Kareshi ga Ichiban Kawaii by NIHONMATSU Shino An immensely cute manga with childhood-friends-to-lovers. I love love love seeing punk representation even if it’s with actual, literal delinquents, and the relationship dynamic was very cute. It does have sex scenes, though I skipped them usual. The story is very charming and was all in all a good read!

 [18+] Adatsubaki Yugamite Haguruma by Fukiya Furo A historical manga about samurai. This is a real weird one with dynamics, and it’s an enemy to lovers type manga. Despite all of its quirks, I couldn’t really bring myself to put it down though the romance itself is… Kind of super messed up. This follows the story of a samurai who murders the man he loves, only to be challenged by his dead lover’s son, who falls in love with him during his mission for revenge. It’s wack. 

[18+] Furimuite Tsukamaete (I Want To See Me In Your Eyes) by Yoriko Another oddball manga with weird dynamics. Childhood friend/crush’s younger brother moves in with the main character sometimes after said crush moves in with his girlfriend. They eventually fall in love. It’s a strange dynamic, but overall the manga is kind of cute.

Slow Morning by Kagis Childhood friends type manga where they’re reunited again after 6 years. Not enough has happened in the manga so far to give me a clear opinion but I like the art style and I’m interested to see how this one goes!

Sasori to Otome by SUMIYA Zeniko A childhood friends-to-lovers between a mangaka and his ex classmate. It’s… Alright? I didn’t hate it though the dynamic is ultimately lacking to me… I only read the one marked “Volume 1” thus far so maybe it gets better later? 

[18+] 18.44 by Momoko Suika Good ol gay baseball. Childhood friends type manga where one of the two is really stupid. It’s not a bad manga and is rather cute, though as usual I skipped the sex scene at the end cos I don’t super care.

 [18+] Achira Kochira de Aimashou (The Man in the Mirror) by Yukibayashi A romance between a would-be king and a would-be family head. The premise was kind of silly but it won me out in the end. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I did appreciate seeing a man with longer hair in a manga for a change…

 [18+] Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shika Nai! by GAMOKO Tsuyu A manga about a chronically unlucky man and a chronically lucky man falling in love. It was a bit refreshing how the relationship itself felt a little bit more normal compared to other manga I’ve read. It was pretty good.

 Haru no Mozu by fu Another slow rolling ongoing manga. It’s interesting so far and doesn’t really seem to super understand what being nonbinary is, but still need to see that appear in a manga. I’m curious to see how this manga will go. 

[18+] Chiguhagu na Kiss (Hug Me, Kiss Me) by SUEHIRO Machi A misunderstanding turns into a rather wholesome romance. It was a good read, though as usual I skipped the sex scenes. I didn’t know how to feel at first cos it opened up with the protagonist trying to get a girlfriend but I ended up enjoying it in the end.

@dazaixsoukoku   Endless ticking fills his ears as his gaze flicks up to the clock on the wall. His chocolate orbs shutting in frustration as he realises it’s only been 5 minutes since he last looked. Boredom isn’t a stranger to Dazai and neither is the sense of hollowness and that’s exactly why this job is suited for him. There are times as a detective when you have to shut yourself off and become void of emotion to allow yourself to progress and complete a task. However, compared to those valiant moments being instructed by the government, the one who is rambling now is none other than Kunikida the self proclaimed leader of their little agency. He might not be the owner but he certainly makes sure his nagging is everyone’s problem. It’s why Dazai decides to make it obvious to Kunikida that he’s bored with listening to details of a simple drop and pick up mission. Something that’s probably important but not to Dazai. With his head leant on the desk, his lips pouted and wiggling a pen on them, Dazai stretches out his arms. Only Oda spares him a quick glance before looking back to the presentation. Dazai’s quick with his hands as he folds the brief in to his weapon. Brandishing the paper airplane, he aims for his target hitting Kunikida square in the face and drawing the reaction out that he was hoping for. With a smirk like an innocent cat, Dazai sits up and waits. The plane smushes between the grips of Kunikida’s fingers as he glares daggers at Dazai. He could practically see the vein waiting to pop out of his head as he hisses the next words “Da-zai..! That was your final warning. This is a briefing from a high—“ before Kunikida can go on a rant that leaves them all with a headache, Ango is the one to speak out. “Kunikida-kun, we’re scheduled a break. As punishment, Dazai-kun, should go get the refreshments. Maybe the fresh air will help him to focus when he’s back.” It’s a lifeline more than a scolding since he’s always babied by his coworkers. Still in protest to Ango’s suggestion he whines, mumbling against the wood of the table. It’s only when Oda meekly mutters out that a coffee would be nice, that Dazai hops up and decides to go. After all he’d do anything for his best friend and senpai. That’s how Dazai begrudgingly finds himself wrapping up to brace the bitter weather as he trails outside to the building next door. ‘The flags’ is a staple place for the detective agency to visit. Its local, convenient and homely- at least that’s Oda’s excuse for coming here. He’s usually not the one to come here and pick up the orders, but nothing much has changed. Except—- his eyes fall upon a foreign looking boy mid quarrel with his coworkers. Interesting…Dazai thinks as he makes his way towards the counter.  — Albatross raises a brow as the short ass trainee is spouting off how he can handle the shop while Albatross goes for his break. It’s all that amusing to the older blonde male, reminiscing on the time he too said the same thing on his 3rd shift. Until he blew up a coffee maker by putting the plastic in the wrong compartment. Instead he places his hands on his hips as he smirks at Chuuya. “Ok Mr. know it all, I’ll leave the next order to you.” Recognising the familiar brunette approaching.

ATSUSHI NAKIJAMA || CRUSHING ON YOU

PAIRING: Atsushi Nakijama x F!Reader

WARNINGS: Lots of fluff. ʕ˵·ᴥ·ʔ

AUTHOR'S NOTES: this is for one of my good friends because she loves atsushi so much! and how could you not. he is too precious.

He wasn’t the type of person that would be into relationships considering his past trauma with his orphanage, but when you decided to come along and join the office staff for the detective agency, something inside him clicked.

He’d freak out a lot every time you’d walk past him and offer a bottle of water, but this boy would trip over his words and he wouldn’t be so sure of how to properly start the conversation. “Agh, water, right! I’d love some, uh, thank you!” And it’d only lead to you awkwardly leaving the presence as Atsushi tries to ignore a grinning Dazai sitting not too far from him.

Knowing Dazai was, well, Dazai, Atsushi was consistently made fun of for his little crush on you and he’d try to give pointers to Atsushi to help him win you over for a small date. He’d even try to get some of the others to help in on the ‘plan’ but it’d only lead to Atsushi begging Dazai to not let anyone else know about Atsushi’s crush on you.

Of course, did you really think Dazai would keep his mouth shut?

Atsushi would do small gestures in order to be kind but he also hoped you acknowledged them in a way where he was trying to stand out from everyone else. Sometimes it led to small gifts like a flower on your desk from an anonymous person or he’d offer to pay for your coffee for the day.

Every time Dazai would hint at you that there was someone in the office that would be crushing on you, Atsushi would fall on top of him and then state that Dazai was nothing but an odd man and he didn’t deserve to be listened to. (Poor Atsushi couldn’t realize that his hysterical acts were making his crush on you more and more obvious to him but he didn’t really catch onto that).

When Atsushi asked you out for lunch, he tried to make it seem like it was a casual hang-out thing that coworkers usually do. But when you inferred that it was a date, he only nodded before flushing into a deep crimson red and he retorted quickly, “yup, a da—wait NO! IT’S NOT LIKE THAT!”

(Dazai skipped his case during the day of your date as he eyed the both of you sharing food together and you were learning more about the shy boy that was trembling due to him being a nervous wreck right next to you).

(Kunikida was not pleased by this).

Atsushi would be a bit more confident in asking you out to lunch during your breaks together and even on your days off, he’d ask to go shopping with you so he could learn more about your interests. He’d flush so deeply into a blush when he thought about you looking cute in a specific dress he saw—but he’s a bit too shy to say anything.

Knowing how dangerous his job was, he was so open to protecting you from any harm that was going to come your way, especially since you only worked for organization of case files and paperwork; you may not have any abilities but Atsushi was determined to protect you even if you two weren’t as close as he’d like—but that was going to change at some point.

Dazai had purposefully left the offices early and dragged Kunikida by the ear in order to leave the two of you alone in a room together. As you gathered up your papers, you noticed Atsushi trembling with his fingers fidgeting. Before you could even ask what was wrong, he immediately shouted out how much he really liked you and he wanted you to be his girlfriend. “B-But I didn’t wanna make it awkward so—! I’m sorry,” he apologized. “I ruined everything, did I? Please for—”

“You’re so silly,” you responded. “Of course, I will be your girlfriend.”

(Little did you both know that Dazai was eavesdropping on the conversation with a proud smile growing on his lips).
