I seriously can’t believe Apocalypse tried to convince us that Charles met a teen with super-speed who successfully broke a prisoner out of the Pentagon and saved his, Erik’s, AND Logan’s lives when all seemed lost, reopened his school shortly afterward, and DIDN’T recruit Peter as his first student? That lonely Peter who had no idea other mutants existed until that day took 10 FREAKING YEARS to seek out Charles again? To find out if that school reopened and see if there was finally a place where he belonged? Charles just forgot about Peter and left him in his mom’s basement for a decade after all Peter did for them? Shut the fudge up, you don’t know WHAT you’re writing about, you stupid writers. Charles would NEVER forget about this guy. He knew where Peter lived; he would’ve been ringing Peter’s doorbell on day one. Literally where would the harm be in Peter being one of the students at the school already at the beginning of Apocalypse? He’d be there from the start, one of Charles’ best students being such a quick study, making friends with the other main characters, and so it wouldn’t actually be a one in a million chance that he was there to save everyone when the explosion happened. I’m actually convinced those writers hated Peter. Sure they gave him two immensely cool scenes but NOTHING else! They didn’t give him his family, his friends, his mentor, his dad!!!! KEVIN FEIGE, GIVE THIS BOY HIS DADNETO AND HIS STEPDAD CHARLES!!!!

Teenager Polaris and dadneto headcanon (modern AU still have powers)

1. Lorna and Erik look alike a lot, especially their eyes and smile.

2. Lorna is dressing in a grunge/punk style, dark green, black and brown colour mostly.

3. Lorna organises protest in her school when something is unfair, she gets excluded several times for it and Erik is always proud of her.

4. Erik gave Lorna a "helmet" to block the telepath (it's actually the "crown" she has in the comics)

5. Lorna and Erik are very close and spend a lot of time together, but they struggle to talk about emotions and feelings, when they fight they'll ignore each other until they calm down then never talk about the issue again.

6. Lorna likes to put safety pins in her hair, because that makes her look cooler, and also she can use them as weapons.

7. Erik had to go pick up Lorna at the police station more than once... Lorna had to pick up (wait for) Erik at the police station more than once

1) the character everyone gets wrong

I'd go with Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, and I know that's cheating because that's two, but in my defence, the ways in which people get them wrong independently absolutely inform the ways they get the other wrong to.

Janet is a lot more proactive in her relationship with Hank than people give her credit for, and was a much bigger reason of why their relationship failed than people also give her credit for. There's a push to rewrite history and make her a very flat victim, and I can see why, but it's frustrating because I think it's a lot more interesting that Janet repeatedly and purposefully ignored multiple warning signs that Hank's health was imperiled simply because she held on to a belief that love could overcome anything, including a man's undiagnosed and unmedicated schizophrenia. It is JANET who makes the decision to marry. She is essentially the one who proposed, after Hank–hallucinating as Yellowjacket and genuinely thinks he is his own murderer–kidnaps her, then briefly becomes lucid and backs off.

Genuinely, right. Genuinely. I don't think the Hank we see here, violently hallucinating, thinking he murdered himself and having a totally different persona and attitude, was in a position to give meaningful consent! I think it's very clear this is a man a danger to himself and to other people, who was not in the right frame of mind to agree to marriage, but people prefer to write Janet as a very basic victim, which I think is a massive disservice to the actually really nuanced way her relationship with Hank was sometimes written, where Hank was clearly unwell and Janet knew it but thought it was an issue that could be fixed with holiday's and sex and Avenging and not a more fundamental psychological one, and that's a far more interesting story to me.

Lotta things I can put here. I think at the moment I am most frustrated by "Krakoa had no people on it before mutants fine, therefore it isn't an ethnostate and it's totally cool and awesome", because the lie of "there were no people here before us!" has been used time and time again throughout history to justify genocide, oppression, violence and colonialism, and I do not think it is the place of the white Americans in charge of writing Krakoa to essentially legitimise those lies because they didn't want to write Magneto or Nightcrawler or Wolverine and company to be out and out colonisers. If you are writing this kind of project, I think you should have the dignity to commit to it.

1. pictures in my head [COMPLETED] Erik arrives at the school for the first time since he left after X-Men Apocalypse. Peter struggles with becoming comfortable around his father and with the idea of telling him that he’s his son. Also there’s a new Brotherhood that’s forming in the meantime.  2. We don’t talk about Erik (CWIP): Loosely based on Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” song. Not a songfic. It takes a look at Peter and Wanda and their relationship with the concept of their father when they were young. Kind of a Maximoff family character study. Featuring a much bigger Maximoff family with uncles, aunts and cousins.  3. Untitled Dadneto fanfics: Three different fanfics, each focusing on Peter, Wanda and Lorna and their relationships with Erik. Set in the far future where Peter is married to Crystal and Luna is 5 years old.  4. you’re the one I wanna go through time with (CrySilver Romance): A prequel to the above three fanfics focusing on Peter and Crystal’s relationship going from their initial meetings to their marriage and having Luna. It also includes Wanda’s introduction into the XMCU. (Disclaimer: Crystal is much different than her comic book counterpart, and Wanda is not MCU Wanda, she is my own character more based of her comics version.) 5. Untitled Lorna and Peter fanfic: When Lorna shows up at the mansion revealing that Erik is her father, Peter is shocked to find someone in the same situation as him and is glad to have a sister again. Will Lorna be able to convince him to also come clean to Erik? Focuses a lot on Lorna and Peter’s relationship. Wanda is dead rip 6. Untitled First Class AU (FWIP): What if Erik knew about Peter and Wanda and had to babysit them for a day at the mansion while the X-Men are training in First Class? 7. Father and Son: A Dadneto Anthology: This is just a bunch of Dadneto reveals. I have so many different ideas for reveals and I figured I could just put them all in one place since not all of them have turned into fully fledged fanfics.

THIS IS SO AMAZING! I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH!! I have watched this animatic before and I understood it a lot more with your narrative. Thank you very much for sharing that! I find it so endearing that Peter and Erik were always destined to meet no matter what timeline!! And ohmygod, Erik imprisoned for 24 years? Poor man. Never gets a break! And then Wanda, is once again, dead😭 I mean, I imagine her dead too most of the time because Fox didn’t show us their version of Wanda. Peter finally telling Erik he’s his son and that they team up against the sentinels but alas!!!! The curse against Erik’s family struck once again ���� AND IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL HOW ERIK MADE A PIECE OF ROSE FROM HIS HELMET. I’M LITERALLY CRYING RIGHT NOWWWW! Aaaaa, I wish you continue the fic! Well then, speaking about first fics! I’m not sure if you’re interested but since you shared, I wanted to share as well! I wrote my first fic about them 2 years ago too!!!! It’s an AU with no magic because I really found Peter’s speed abilities very hard to write. I know there’s a lot more mutants more powerful than him but like… if he’s faster than most of them then they wouldn’t have much time to react, right? So yeah, I decided to write an AU without powers… In that AU, Peter is a very young kid who always annoys Erik in the library while Erik, in his mind, just goes like ‘where is this kid’s parents?’ But in the end, he started to appreciate Peter’s company. I never did publish it though because till now, I still don’t know how to do the big revelation. (Maybe this is why Fox didn’t do the reveal? Because they didn’t know how?!?! Anyways, who cares. I still hate them for doing that.)

And another fic I wrote about them also 2 years ago!! I included Wanda in this one! The first few chapters focused on Peter’s insecurities because he always thought that Wanda is the ‘better twin’ and that everyone likes her more including their father. Erik is not aware of this thinking but he always makes sure to devote his time equally to the twins. There’s a bit of unspoken strain in Peter and Wanda’s relationship too despite them being close. It all stemmed from their late mother. Since Wanda thought that Peter didn’t save their mother on purpose; while Peter was a bit jealous of Wanda since she always had Magda’s attention. And then, the main plot comes in! MCU Wanda really had to ruin everything and take Peter away from them. But since X-Men Wanda and Peter’s relationship isn’t the best, there’s an uncertainty if Peter would even want to come home considering that MCU Wanda treats him so well 🥺 But yeah, we all know nothing is gonna stop Erik from bringing his son back 🫣 I actually published this fic! The first few chapters, I mean… It originally focused on MCU Wanda and Peter’s relationship but I’ve decided to focus on dadneto when I do get the time to work on it again hehe. I might add it in the House of Dadneto collections if it runs again! 🤩

After one of my many rewatches of X-Men: The Animated Series, I knew the episode One Man's Worth had such amazing potential for a dadneto spin, and I've had so much fun planning this story out over the past few months for the @house-of-dadneto event! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!!

Summary:

No matter how hard he tried, Peter couldn’t get up. He couldn’t fight back- he couldn’t even run. How could he hope to protect the students when he couldn’t even protect himself? A familiar shadow enveloped his vision in a haze of darkness, and Peter gritted his teeth at the figure that loomed above, a mere silhouette against the blazing sun. Their imposing size was the first thing Peter registered, leading him to believe it must have been another mutant, but as his vision adjusted he came to a horrifying realisation. His attacker was no mutant- it wasn’t even human. It was a machine. ~~~ Or, Peter becomes the target of an assassin from the future, and the only way he'll survive the week is with the help of his team, a couple of time travellers, and his father. Only problem is, Peter still hasn't told Erik the truth...

Hi! I absolutely love your fic Misfortune, and I’d love to hear more about the universe surrounding it! I’ve always been curious about the dynamic that was hinted at with Erik, Pietro and Luna, from what we saw it seemed very nuanced!!

I'd really like to start by saying that I'm so glad Misfortune resonated with you! It's tied for my favorite work I did for House of Dadneto 2024, and I hope that if there's a 2025 event, I'll be able to live up to my work in 2024. I also want to say that I adore A Quiet and Starry Place and am excited for any upcoming chapters!

Within Misfortune, I tried to capture the idea of people's words, actions, and beliefs not completely coinciding. Whether it be Wanda claiming not to care about Erik outside his relationship with Pietro while still visiting him (albeit on the astral plane) or Erik denying that Luna's birth and humanity has any impact on him, while joining the X-Men for that very reason. I also tried to show the breakdown of communication within the family unit, and how that only leads to more pain.

When Pietro got married to Crystal, Erik wasn't there. He never truly got an answer as to why, though it was mainly due to Erik being a fugitive after his failed rebellion after the attempted assassination of Charles Xavier. Crystal's pregnancy was announced soon after the wedding, and Erik seemed to be excited at the prospect of being a grandfather again. He gets along with Crystal, although he only visits twice during the pregnancy so Pietro and Crystal don't get in trouble for meeting with a fugitive. Even though Crystal is royalty, he doesn't want to risk anything.

Pietro wants Erik to be proud of him, he wants to have a good relationship with him. To Pietro, having a relationship with Erik and considering him his father alongside Django is both possible and okay. He considers Django his father, and Erik as his father as well, one does not cancel out the other. Wanda has a harder time reconciling the two, so she uses Pietro as an excuse to get closer to Erik, as she doesn't want to betray Django, Marya or Magda. That's one of the reasons he still hasn't met Billy or Tommy. That and the fact Wanda's afraid they'll get hurt if anyone finds out about their relationship to Erik.

When Luna is born, and born human, Pietro is afraid.

He's heard what people say about his father, and seen the things his father has said and done when it comes to coexistence with humans. He doesn't think he'll harm Luna, but he thinks that he'll ignore her, and that he'll pretend that both she, and he, don't exist. Crystal encourages him to tell Erik about his doubts and fears, but he doesn't, he only tells him his daughter is born human.

Truthfully, Erik never considered this.

He figured she'd either be born mutant or inhuman, and either one was fine with him. But to be baseline? That wasn't a possibility.

Pietro waited to tell him until he was already holding Luna, but the second she was placed into his arms, Erik loved her. He saw his own eyes-the eyes of his son- staring back up at him, and blonde hair that's a perfect mix of that of her mother and of her father. She was perfect, and he'd do anything to make the world safer for her.

But then, Pietro fearfully told him she's human. Only a moment later he took her back, afraid of what Erik might say. While Erik's loved many humans, that's not what he's known for.

His granddaughter will grow up hearing all about how Magneto fought against the humans, and she'll think that he doesn't love her. He does love her, but at the same time, she's human. He can't really reconcile the idea of his granddaughter being a human. She just can't be, yet she is.

While he doesn't believe in the possibility of true human-mutant coexistence, he does believe in her; and making the world safer so that Tommy, Billy, and Luna Maximoff can grow up unafraid.

He couldn't live with himself if she was afraid of him. He can't live with himself while his son is afraid of him.

He would destroy the world at the drop of a hat, but he'd keep it safe for his grandchildren. Human and mutant alike. He'll try coexistence if only to make Luna happy. It doesn't mean he won't fight for mutants with the same vigor he always did, it just means he'll try to live alongside the humans and advocate for peace.

He'll try it, just as he'll keep his promise to an old friend.

So, he packs up his meager belongings, and joins the X-Men. Not only for Charles, but for his children and grandchildren too. Perhaps this way he can prove to his son, his granddaughter and even himself that he hasn't already damaged his relationships beyond repair. He remains aware that every move he makes is being monitored, not only by the UN, but by his son too.

When word reaches Pietro that his father has joined the X-Men and has been saving humans and mutants alike, he sends him a gift. A way to let him know he still loves his father, and wants to maintain their relationship. Because Erik hasn't talked through any of this with him, he doesn't know how his father feels about Luna, or if joining the X-Men has any correlation at all. A few days later, Wanda decides to visit Erik in the astral plane.

As for the gift, I have my own opinion on what's inside; but I worry that whatever answer I give won't live up to what the individual reader thinks is inside. If you want to know what I originally wrote to be in it before letting it be ambiguous, let me know, and I'll reveal it and it's significance to Pietro as a person.

I hope this in-depth examination of character motives makes sense, and thank you for reading this long! I've always found Magneto to be a very interesting character, so I knew I wanted to do a character study to open House of Dadneto. In fact, this was the third fic I wrote for the event, but the first I posted. I had already written Polaris and Acceleration, Tangential Speed and the Practicality of Fatherhood when I started planning out Misfortune!

I've also considered following more of the X-Men 97 plot through the lens of this AU, but I'm not sure if I'll end up doing it or not. I have plenty of ideas when it come to Episodes 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10.

Dadneto is getting more cringe every other day.

Seriously the AXIS retcon and Marvel’s obsession to make Magnus family still a thing leads to all kinds of shit writing.(Not really in this particular case but still I don’t like the word used here.) I don’t mind Joseph’s writing here but seriously calling Magneto that is weird.

Because they lose the bloodties, now Marvel needs other justifications to still sell them as a family. To the point they need to conjure none-existent family affections for them(cough Trial of Magneto where Wanda acted like a timid teenage girl).

Let’s call Magneto Wanda’s adoptive father even though dude never raised her, unless you count being a shitty ex-boss as being a parent. Not to mention she actually had adoptive parents, you know the ones where the Maximoff name came from? Django who stared down the face of an Elder God and saved his daughter, and Marya who is actually still alive in Robinson’s Scarlet Witch run. But let’s make Erik and Wanda play wholesome daddy and his little girl and pretend they had this nice family relationship and quietly erase those who actually loved and cared for the twins because Magneto is the far more popular character right? Why don’t we replace Uncle Ben with Tony Stark while we are at it?

Can we just restore the blood ties and make them estranged biological family again? I like Wanda better when she took her allegiance and affection seriously.

And as much as I love Wanda for being a sentimental person, writers’ constant mishandling of her family relationship just makes me wish she is more of a stonehearted bitch who doesn’t give a damn.

Summary: It's Erik's turn to take care of young Peter, but he's out on a business trip. Again. Warnings and whatnots: Kid!Peter. Dadneto. Not following original story. Eric is practically a diplomat. Charles and Raven being Peter’s unofficial guardians .

Charles stands uncomfortably in front of his best friend's ex's house. He already rung the doorbell, he could sense the disheveled woman nearing the door. He puts on an awkward smile as the door opens.

"Charles," She says, staring at the young man in front of her. "Erik's not here?" She asks, but before Charles could answer a small gust of wind came running up.

"Papa!" The voice says loudly, excitement and happiness practically bursting from the young silver haired boy. His demeanor immediately changed as he saw his father's best friend standing in front of the doorway. "Where's papa?"

Charles kneels down, facing the young boy who was hiding behind his mother's leg. "You're father is on a business trip right now... He'll be back in two days, so in that time your father asks your Aunt Raven and Uncle Charles to take care of you!" Charles says, smiling softly at the young boy. The boy mumbles an okay before letting go of his mother's pant leg and taking the hand of his father's best friend.

Erik hated his job. No, he despised it.

Ever since he got this bloody job, he had missed most if not all his time with Peter. This time it was no different. He was supposed to be in America, with Peter. Taking care of his only child and son. His only family. Yet here he was, in France in a dull meeting with some businessman.

The meeting was adjourned and he quickly gathered up his things and left the room. Not caring to speak nor network with the other people in the room. His grip on his briefcase tightens as he sees his boss' assistant leaning against the doorway. He approaches the woman, his face showing no emotion. She smiles at him.

"You will be very happy to hear what I have to say."

Peter laid down on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. The door to his room opens and he sits up. A blonde woman stands in his doorway, a sympathetic smile etched on her face.

"Do you want to eat something, kid?"

Peter didn't respond, just shaking his head. Raven walks towards Peter, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "It'll be fine. In two days he'll be back."

"He's never here when I come here..." Peter mumbles. His eyes staring into Raven's. Her heart practically broke in half as she saw the broken look on the young boy's face. "Come here," She mutters to him, wrapping her arms around him. Peter sobs.

Raven knew that Erik wanted to see Peter but his work wouldn't allow it. She wished for once, that Erik could just come and comfort Peter.

Erik walks off the plane, a small smile on his face. Internally, he was bursting with happiness. His boss had let him go early. He could see Peter today. He could see his son today!

He walks over to his best friend who was standing near his car. He had called him the night before telling him about the news. He had planned out a whole day with Peter with Charles the night before. He hugged his best friend, smiling softly.

"Everything is running smoothly," Charles says, pulling back. Erik smiles. "Let's go. We should not be late."

Peter sits quietly in the passenger seat of Raven's car. "Where are we going, Auntie Raven?" He asks. Raven smiles, putting a finger to her lips.

"It's a secret." She smiles.

She pulls her car into the parking lot of a local diner. She leads a confused Peter into it, smiling to everyone in the diner.

"Hey speedy!" A familiar voice calls out to Peter, he looks up immediately catching the eye of his father. Peters mouth hung open before he ran up to the man. Erik sits shocked at the booth he was sitting at. He looks at Charles incredulously, before wrapping his arms about the young boy. He lifts up the young boy, seating him next to him.

Peter's lips quiver as he stares at Erik. He thought that Erik was going to not come home. He thought he wouldn't see him again.

"Hey, hey, hey, why are you crying?" Erik asks, wiping the tears off his son's face.

"I thought you would never come... I thought you left me..." Peter mumbles into Erik's shirt. Erik stares down at Peter, his lips pursed as he looks at Charles. His eyes were tearing up.

Peter thought he would've left him. Peter thought he had abandoned him.

"I would never do that son. I would never leave you," Erik says, kissing the young boy's forehead.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Not Peter yelling at running children, and Storm being the cutest teacher and Hank and his sad desk picture and the GAY GRANDPAS BEGIN. (except they don't look even remotely like grandies) They really tried to up the wrinkes to try and make them look even remotely close to mid-50s.

I did not love this; I understand why many people didn't. This has by far the best action sequences of the newer X-men series, and a stunner of a composer in Hans Zimmer, but like. Yeah it was certainly a movie.

And I would LOVE to ramble about my DoFP Dadneto AU, but I'll put it under a read more to spare any innocent bystanders from the thesis I'm about to write 🤣

Okay OKAY so first I need to start by saying this AU was the very first Dadneto fic I ever started writing but because I never finished it it was never posted 😭 I did manage to turn it into an animatic during the @house-of-dadneto event in June though which I was SO happy about!!

Basically, as my little headcanon goes, Erik and Peter are always destined to meet regardless of the timeline, and in the original timeline that Logan travelled from Peter still broke his father out of the Pentagon but much later than we see in the movie. Erik is actually imprisoned for 24 years and in that time the sentinels advance rapidly due to Trask getting his hands on Raven's DNA. Mutants quickly become a target worldwide and the war starts to rage.

Peter tries his best to protect his family -especially Wanda who is also a mutant- but during an attack from sentinels she ends up sacrificing herself so he can get Lorna and their mother away. As the sentinels become stronger, Peter decides the only way he can protect what remains of their family is to go on the run, and his mother tells him to find his father- the one they call Magneto.

After years of fleeing from sentinels and tracking down any leads he can about his father, Peter becomes stubborn, cold, and sharp. His carefree nature is gone, replaced with a bitter confidence, and by the time he finds Erik he is very different to the teenager we see in DoFP.

This Peter doesn't hesitate to reveal their connection, shocking Erik but giving him a newfound resolve when he gets out and sees what the world has come to. Erik gathers a Brotherhood to fight against the sentinels with Peter being his unspoken second in command and they grow closer as the years pass.

Tragedy eventually strikes though when Peter is impaled by a sentinel while trying to save his father, and Erik is left a broken man as he buries his only son with a metal rose he made from his own helmet. Hearing his mental distress, Charles seeks out Erik with what remains of his X-Men and implores him to join them for their final attempt to undo all the horrors that their past caused.

Erik agrees, knowing that a new timeline may mean he never meets his son again, but it's worth it so long as Peter is alive.

Thankfully Logan has no qualms about introducing them to each other in the new timeline too though hahah!

And yeah- that's pretty much it 🤣 I actually have a big chunk of writing in this AU but it's nearly two years old so I'd probably want to go back and revise it. I had planned to show how Erik lost Peter in one fic and then write another one comprised of all the parallels between the two timelines, like the Pentagon breakout etc.

wanda & pietro maximoff’s ethnicity (+magneto’s) & race in comics: a timeline

lately, i’ve been seeing some confusion and misinformation concerning wanda and pietro’s ethnicity, so i’ve tried to make a condensed timeline of their “shifting”/”evolving” parentage and ethnicity citing canonical sources and with accompanying panels. mostly so you know what isn’t new and has been lore for decades. since magneto was half their parentage most of the time (more on that later), some panels center on his ethnicity [he’ll be referred to as magneto for simplicity’s sake bc of his various aliases].

tldr; they were introduced as “vaguely european,” then “unknown but adopted by romani,” then half ashkenazi jewish, then half romani and half ashkenazi, then fully romani, then half ashkenazi and romani again, and are currently fully romani (retcon of a retcon pending)

x-men #4 (1964)

in wanda and pietro’s first ever appearance, they’re from "the heart of europe,” where they were being chased by an angry mob. no additional info.

avengers #31 (1966)

after some avengering, they return to their home village, now said to be in the balkans, and so they’re from southeastern europe. a few issues later, they reveal they were born on “wundagore mountain,” and this village ends up being “transia,” which is a whole country within marvel.

giant-size avengers #1 (1974)

wanda encounters the ww2 hero the whizzer (yes. really.), real name robert frank. he says that he and his pregnant wife, miss america (madeline joyce), had traveled to wundagore mountain for her labor. madeline died in childbirth and the whizzer (yes! really!) ran away in grief, leaving the newborns that were presented to him. wanda thinks he must be her father. since robert frank and madeline joyce are presumably anglo-americans, her ethnicity could have been presumed the same (anglo-ish). it’s still not revealed who raised the maximoffs

avengers #186 (1979)

wanda and pietro learn more of their origin from bova, the evolved cow (roll with it) who was midwife to their real biological mother, magda, who fled shortly after their birth.

the whizzer and miss america were really their intended adoptive parents, because the franks’ baby, unbeknownst to them, was stillborn.

instead, wanda and pietro were placed into the care of a romani couple, django and marya maximoff. at this point, wanda and pietro’s ethnicity remains a mystery (as magda’s is not yet specified and their biological father wasn’t disclosed), but their adoptive parents are a romani couple and they were raised within the romani community.

uncanny x-men #125 (1979)

magneto reveals he had a wife named magda, who readers know gave birth to pietro and wanda, but magneto doesn’t. dramatic irony, baby

uncanny x-men #150 (1981)

this issue introduces magneto’s origin as a survivor of the holocaust (18 years after his first comic appearance). based on several subsequent issues, it seemed clear that writer chris claremont intended for magneto to be ashkenazi jewish, and so most readers assumed he was.

in uncanny x-men #161 (1982) [left], a flashback shows magneto first met xavier while volunteering in israel, and he attends a holocaust remembrance event with kitty pryde (also jewish) in uncanny x-men #199 (1985) [right]:

and, in similar language to the #199 panel, this statement in uncanny x-men #211 (1986) also implies he is jewish:

these are but a few of several examples. however, i suppose it’s never explicitly stated. this will be important later.

vision and the scarlet witch #4 (1983)

magneto says he IS the father (which he learned from local evolved cow, bova). hooray! magda had fled from magneto, who didn’t know she was pregnant, after he killed a mob (responsible for their daughter anya’s death) with his newfound powers. under the assumption that magneto is ashkenazi jewish, this makes wanda and pietro ethnically half ashkenazi jewish

vision and the scarlet witch v2 #5 (1985)

magda is confirmed to be romani (in this unfortunate 80s manner), meaning wanda and pietro are half romani from their mother’s side, and half ashkenazi jewish from their father’s

x-men unlimited #2 (1993)

though readers thought he was jewish before, magneto is revealed to be sinti, a romani tribe in central europe. [supposedly, this is because magneto was being set up as a villain again and marvel feared anti-semitic implications if he were explicitly jewish.] this would make wanda and pietro fully romani.

x-men v2 #72 (1998)

it’s revealed that “erik lensherr,” thought to be magneto’s real name, was in fact an alias, and presumably he wasn’t sinti but needed to have an identity as one to track magda (still sinti!) down. again, he still isn’t explicitly stated to be ashkenazi jewish, but 2 years later the x-men movie comes out. that, of course, opens with young magneto in auschwitz, so now Everyone presumes he’s jewish. which, surprisingly, is only explicitly stated for the first time in x-men: magneto testament in 2008. so wanda and pietro are again half romani (sinti) and half ashkenazi jewish.

this would be the status quo until...

avengers & x-men: axis #7 (2015)

magneto is retconned to be NOT the father. wanda and pietro are retconned to NOT be mutants. is it because marvel comics was trying to separate fox-owned x-men properties from the mcu-owned properties since they were both trying to use the maximoffs? we can’t say for sure--yes. yes it was.

scarlet witch v2 #4 (2016)

wanda and pietro’s NEW real biological mother is revealed to be natalya maximoff, sister to django maximoff, thus making wanda and pietro’s adoptive parents their biological uncle and aunt. their new biological father isn’t revealed, but marvel has said that they’re now fully romani (again), so he must be too? they are also now from serbia, so presumably natalya isn’t sinti like magda.

will this retcon be undone and magneto restored as wanda and pietro’s father since that was their backstory for 36 years? who knows! if so, they will be half ashkenazi jewish and half romani again. right now, they’re fully romani, which they incidentally already were before. comics!
