The sound of breakfast on the griddle summons you downstairs.
Dad never cooks.
For as long as you can remember, weekends at your dad’s have always consisted of Lucky Charms cereal and powdered donuts. That tradition continued even after you started college.
Oh yeah. Someone is here, alright. Someone Dad desperately wants to impress.
Trailing after the commotion, your fuzzy pink slippers guide you down the wooden steps of your dad’s ‘bachelor pad’ and into the kitchen. And when you near the bottom of the steps, you can make out two distinct voices — one belonging to Dad, another belonging to someone who's identity is obscure.
“God, I fucking missed you, Jeff. Missed everyone so much.”
The smells of pancake batter, cigarette smoke, mint, and petroleum fuel reel you in, but not nearly as much as the sight of the man sitting on the opposite side of your dad. He's built, handsome with wavy brown hair, leather, black denim, twiddling a toothpick between his teeth as he listens to your dad speak with a smile on his face. That is, until you come into sight. It then that his intense focus circles in on you.
Funny. You don’t remember this friend. And something in your gut tells you that you won’t ever be forgetting him after this.
The stranger's grin curls into a wonder-filled smirk. You can feel your knees start to buckle.
“Uh oh. Looks like our shenanigans woke up Sleeping Beauty.”
When you get a closer look at Dad’s friend, you observe his faint brown beard — neatly kept and lightly peppered with some gray — delicious lips, shiny white teeth, and grooves along his laugh lines that would deepen with every theatrical cackle he belted out.
You can't help but freeze in your tracks as him and your dad continue on with their banter, reliving their glory days like it was yesterday. Man. What a damn dreamboat.
Your dad’s eyes light up with glee when he sees you.
“Hey, good morning, Sunshine!” Dad cheers. “Thought you’d never wake up. This is my friend Eddie. We were in that band together in high school. Come say hi.”
"Yeah, come say hi," Eddie agrees. feeding into the obvious tension in the room. "I don't bite."
The stranger laughs at his own comment as soon as he utters it.
There’s a charm — a magic — about Eddie that could only be found in Hollywood or the Big City. But of course, you didn't expect any less from Dad's supposed ‘Rockstar Friend’.
When your parents had you at 17, life went on for Dad’s band Corroded Coffin. And although he missed out on the ‘Sex, Drugs, and Rock&Roll’, Dad insists that tea parties and white picket fences were an ideal trade-off. Because — despite how things ended with Mom — it still meant a life spent with you.
You tell him your name as Eddie offers you his hand to shake. Electricity serges through you when your hand is enveloped by his firm, calloused one. Eddie smiles down at you, his presence all-consuming. It's almost as if he knows it. And as much as you were dying to, you resist the urge to fall into him.
Eddie's no better.
It takes everything in Eddie's power to keep his eyes above your collarbones, reprimanding himself with the utmost tedium. Because heaven knows he'd be TOAST if his best friend found out that Eddie thought that you were absolutely stunning — strutting around the house the way that you do, without a bra underneath that poor excuse of a sleep shirt — a sleep shirt far too tight for your own good. With tight, pajama shorts to match…
Of course, this is all an assumption…Not that he caught wind of it or anything.
“You know…” he mentions. “Your dad has told me SO much about little miss Sunshine.”
“Me, really?” is all you can say behind those fuscia cheeks.
“Really,” Eddie insists. “He never shuts up about you, darling.”
“Hopefully you’ve only heard good things,” you mutter faintly.
And instantly, your dad and Eddie share a laugh.
“Only good things,” Eddie assures you. He nudges your dad playfully.
Your dad doesn’t exactly deny the last part, basically confirming to Eddie that you’ve got a hint of spunk to you. The heat settles at your cheeks as you shy away from your father’s curious friend.
Taking note of how timid you’ve just become, Eddie furrows his brows.
“What — was that an implication that you’re not always good?”
“No comment,” your smile melts into an awkward one.
“Kept me on my toes back then,” your dad reflects with a sigh. “Keeps me on my toes now.”
“You don’t say…” Eddie smirks slightly, gaze panning back over to you.
Eventually your dad leaves you two alone, going into the garage to fetch something that he insists Eddie would like. But little did he know that such thing was already in the room, leaning…reaching into the fridge for some orange juice, not realizing its atmosphere caused your nipples to harden.
Eddie’s eyes proceed to follow you as you strut back to the griddle, flipping some hot cakes over before tending to your messy bedhead.
Eddie probably doesn’t know — or maybe he does, who knows? — that you feel him staring at you. It’s a burning gaze that practically impales you, but you’re too nervous to say anything. You’re better off pretending like it’s something you don’t notice.
You and Eddie continue to help yourselves to breakfast, enjoying the company of each other and your mutual silence. That is, until Eddie speaks up.
“Got some sausage for you if you’d like.”
“I’m sorry?” you sputter, looking up from your food.
Eddie shoots you a weird glance as he holds up some breakfast franks.
“Sausage?” he repeats. “Store was out of beef so I settled for turkey. Hope that’s not a problem.”
“Not at all,” you clear your throat. “I love turkey sausage.”
“Okay, good,” Eddie chuckles, seemingly relieved at how quickly the situation had diffused.
“Cool,” you chuckle with him while taking some links to cook.
The silence returns once more and is replaced by the sizzling of the grill. It’s short lived, however, because soon, the man nearly twice your age speaks again.
“What’d you think I said?” Eddie circles back.
“Nothing, why?”
“You just looked stunned.”
“I just woke up,” you shrug. “My mind’s somewhere else.”
“I can tell,” he smirks. “Get that thing out of the gutter.”
Tumblr media
The coming days paved way for some more innocent flirting.
…Like when you make sure to wear the shortest skirt in your closet when running Eddie his afternoon beer in the garage.
“Well don’t you look absolutely darling…” he says as he peers up from his guitar.
“Hehe,” you smirk connivingly. “Thank you!”
“You are so welcome.”
Eddie downs the liquid guilt along with his pride, watching you strut around…the hem of that pleated cotton fabric just barely covering the roundness of your asscheeks. And as you blush a rosy pink when you process his little remarks, Eddie can only clear his throat in arousal, fantasizing about just how badly he wanted to turn your other cheeks that very shade.
…Or when you come downstairs the next day to help Dad manually wash his car.
While he and Eddie are harassing each other with soap and that god-forsaken hose, you decide to join in on all the fun.
“Watch out, Sunshine,” Eddie forewarns. “You’ve just entered the splash zone!”
And with the intention of cooling you off on a hot summer day like this, Eddie teasingly sprays you with said hose, your white shirt becoming transparent when lathered with water. He could see everything. Your erect nipples. Your perky tits bouncing in the sunlight as you jump around in excitement. How glazed your oil-nnuendo’ed skin looked when glimmering in the sun. All as intended.
“You got me,” you surrender yourself to him. “You got me good, Eddie.”
And when you walk away, Eddie mutters slyly to himself.
“Yes, yes I did.”
…And then there’s dessert after dinner.
Eddie watches as you lick your popsicle, his fingers curling at his thighs in arousal as you retract the wrapper before enclosing your lips around the bright pink dessert. And he swears he’s going to blow his pants when he envisions the melted sugar shooting into your mouth with the swiftest hollowing of your cheeks, the quiet suction noise you make with your pursed lips forcing him to adjust the way he’s sitting.
…The final instance takes the cake.
“What’s your major?”
You’re in the home library grazing some of Dad’s old books and vinyls, talking to Eddie while your father gets ready for the day. Meanwhile, Eddie is perched at your dad’s desk, rolling around in his expensive swivel chair and occasionally doing some spins on it to make you laugh.
“History.”
“Sounds boring.”
“You just haven’t found a topic that interests you,” you point out.
“Mm,” is all Eddie says. “Maybe I will eventually.”
Eddie watches as you waltz around in front of him, following your movements with his eyes as you get onto your tippy-toes in order to grab some books on the top shelf.
“Oh my god!” you yelp.
Your plan to entice him seemingly fails when you graze a book that’s halfway off the shelf. It’s already flying off of its platform, headed straight towards Eddie's lap before you can even stop it.
Eddie catches it before any damage can be done, saving Dad’s old campaign book with the hand furthest from you and snaking the other around your waist to prevent you from sinking any further into him.
Phew. Crisis averted.
Your eyes meet again.
“I’m so sorry, Eddie,” you gasp in embarrassment. “That book has a mind of its own.”
“You’re fine,” Eddie laughs. “Can’t defy the laws of gravity. Sometimes it betrays us.”
You feel yourself burning up a fever. Excusing yourself from the room, you leave Dad’s library and make your way over to the kitchen for a glass of water.
But you’re nearly taken aback when you feel tight, calloused hands wrap around your hips, and like a feather it’s like you’re whisked away into the air, and soon your body is pressed up against the wall.
Slam!
Breathing heavily against each other now — chest to chest, lips so unbearably close you can smell the whiskey — Eddie draws you even closer to him. You both study each other intently. It’s like you’re waiting for the other to say something. Eddie does the honors and speaks first.
“I wasn’t born last night, doll. I was also your age at one point.”
———
To his own despair, Eddie touches himself later that night. Facing your room, he strokes his rock hard cock with his lotioned-up hand, running his thumb across the slit of his head, pretending it’s your tongue giving him a little tease like you did the popsicle.
“Fuuuck,” he grunts quietly. “You like when I fuck your throat, baby? Gonna suck me dry with that pretty little mouth of yours?”
You’re playing make-believe just as much. Because at the same time, in your room, you’re a drooling, pathetic mess, riding your wall-mounted toy to oblivion in your bathroom, legs trembling when the thick, veiny piece of silicone slams into the spongy part of your heat, initiating shock-waves all across your body.
“Eddie,” you find yourself blubbering. “EddieEddieEddieEddie…”
You both know it can’t be like this, but that was the mere thrill of it all. And when you both have overcome your peak, just one mere wall apart, the floodgates of guilt outweighs both your arousals the way it comes pouring in.
So, so wrong. But oh, so right.
Tumblr media
You’re anticipating…waiting…aching for Eddie to make the next move.
He doesn’t.
“Going to the store again,” Eddie announces. “Hopefully this time they’ll have beef sausage. Need anything?”
Need you, is what you think. But you end up shaking your head, a part of you disappointed that you and Eddie won’t be able to spend some time alone together.
“No,” there’s defeat in your voice.
“Are you sure?” Eddie questions softly.
“Mhm,” you nod.
“Okay,” he gives you a grin, one in the form of a tight-lipped smile. “I’ll be right back. You be good.”
“Ha-ha,” you roll your eyes.
——
Eddie leaves the door of his room open that night. Just a smidge. You end up following the sound of his TV that he’s placed at a low volume, making out that it’s Seinfeld just by Jerry’s voice and the laugh track.
Your heart skips a beat as Eddie laughs along with the show, shaking his head at a stupid joke. But he shifts his focus immediately onto you when he sees you at the doorway.
“Having some alone time tonight?” you ask him.
“Mmm…not by choice,” he responds. “Tuckered your dad out after dinner doing P90X.”
Eddie follows a crazy workout routine. He says that it helps with his stamina, especially when he does crowd work during his stage performances. Your mind can’t help but wonder what else he may be using it for.
You snort. “Yeah. Dad wasn’t what you’d call an athlete in high school.”
Eddie laughs at that too. Both you and him know that.
He then pats the space on his bed beside him. “Wanna come watch with me?”
Your stomach does a series of cartwheels when you process Eddie’s question. You know what’s bound to happen if you follow through. And it seems Eddie knows it too. Even if there wasn’t any sexual tension between you both already, the concept of it all would rub anyone that way.
But you still follow through with it. Just like Eddie knew you would.
“You comfortable?” Eddie asks you, eyeing you endearingly as you squirm around on the bed.
“Yeah,” you breathe.
“Good…” he replies, voice nearly at a strained whisper now.
You two watch the show in silence for a few minutes, exchanging commentary and pleasantries regarding the show every so often. It’s not too long after Eddie pulls a laugh from you that he starts closing up the space between you both, scooting himself closer…and resting his gruff palm over the base of your knee.
You inhale sharply as he does so. And evident by your refusal to pull away, it’s enough of a green light for Eddie to hike up further.
A soft moan escapes your mouth from the back of your flustered throat, but you bite your lip in restraint.
"I'm sorry," you whisper.
"For what?”
You shrug sheepishly as Eddie continues to graze your thigh. Your breathing falters even more.
“Don’t be scared,” Eddie coos.
“I’m not,” you insist.
“Then what’s stopping you from getting on top of me? Hm?”
He’s in between your legs now, the rough material of his denim jeans riding up your sex, teasing your clit with every calculated rub against it.
“And riding my rock hard cock til those pretty legs give out?” Eddie continues. “I see how you’ve been looking at me, doll. It's all over your face how bad you want it.”
“The bed is squeaky,” you answer honestly. “And that headboard is a lost cause.”
Eddie puts the dirty talk on pause, squirming around to assess the guest bed’s squeak factor. When it checks out, he gives you an understanding nod. You giggle.
Eddie wastes no more time. You watch as he grabs one of the pillows on the bed and wedges it between the wall and headboard. He issues you a sly smile.
“Oldest trick in the book.”
You're back to fooling around shortly after, your aching core burning with lust as you pine for him.
“The boys at school ever touch you this good?” Eddie quips rubbing circles around your puffy, needy folds as you hopelessly cling to him out of pleasure.
“No, Eddie.”
“Didn’t think so.”
He continues to tease, gliding his fingers along your slit before slowly inserting two large digits inside of you.
His calculated pumps into your needy pussy are steady, a pace so agonizingly beautiful that it makes you squeal sweet nothings into the crook of his neck.
"Shh, baby," Eddie hushes you. "Your dad's gonna hear us. Gotta be quiet for me, mkay?"
Your hot, messy, and muffled sounds cease as Eddie soothes your quivering lips with his tender ones.
The wet sounds that ricochet and fill the room in tandem is almost enough to send him over. And Eddie is sure to communicate that… with an abrupt curving of his three thick fingers.
Fuck.
Needing him direly now, you tug helplessly at his pants.
“God, Eddie,” you whimper. “Just fuck me already. Please.”
Eddie laughs at the desperation. He hasn’t ravaged you to his fullest extent yet, and you’re already a pooling mess beside him.
“Well since you said please, sweet girl,” Eddie obliges as he starts to undress himself. “Your wish is my command."
You watch Eddie as reaches over into the bedside drawer for a fresh box of condoms. Looks like the sausage links weren't the only things he went to the store for.
“Oh.”
Eddie chuckles at your observation before shrugging. Can you really blame him? You both knew what was coming.
You watch with absolute lust as Eddie slides the piece of rubber over his long, girthy, throbbing cock. He’s bigger than anyone you’ve ever had before, and the snarky, hooded-eye smile as he watches you fawn reveals to you that he knows exactly how to use it.
"On your stomach, babygirl. Will have you all nice and pounded out just like you wanted.”
You situate yourself in prone and spread your legs for Eddie to line himself up against them. He teases his wrapped cock against the entrance of your pussy, and when his soothing countdown is over, your lips part in disposition as you accommodate his ruinous stretch.
A throaty moan spills out of the both of you the moment Eddie snaps his hips in and out of you. Meanwhile, one of his hands lays tauntingly at your stomach, so the prideful man can feel himself wriggling inside you, glazing his shaft with your slick more and more with every pump into your weak cunt.
"Fuck, Eddie... yes..." you mewl. "R-right there, Eddie, please..."
And then it picks up. You can feel Eddie’s hips practically collapse right onto you, his balls slapping against you as he digs further into your body.
"God damn..." the man sighs in disbelief.
He can only beam down at you in awe. You were taking him so good, pussy swallowing him so nice and tight. And when you nestle your ankles between each other to keep him there in prone, the nearly cries out in pleasure, but refrains because he knows your dad is resting — just a thin wall over.
That still doesn’t stop him from going to town though. Practically seeing stars, the broken record of a mouth that belongs to you chants Eddie’s name like it’s all you know. Eddie attempts to keep you contained, offering you his fingers to suck on as he’s railing you dumb.
And when he fucks you through your climax, Eddie continues with his string of lust-filled praises, satisfied at himself that he was able to make you wet enough to soak the mattress.
“Did so good for me, angel,” he praises you as he sucks at your temple. “Always knew you weren’t all that innocent.”
Tumblr media
The griddle comes out again on Eddie’s last day. But this time, for a homestyle southern dinner.
You and Eddie were on mashed potatoes and gravy duty at the stove, an ordeal that only opened doors for lots of innuendos on Eddie’s part. Meanwhile, Dad insisted on making the rest, having taken pride in continuing his Mama’s legacy.
“This is amazing, Daddy,” you rave. “I really missed this. Do you mind passing the salt, please?”
And to your horror, you watch as your father and Eddie automatically extend their arms, bumping into one another in the process en route to getting you the salt.
The gentlemen meet each other’s eyes.
“Ohp!” Eddie exclaims, letting out a slight chuckle. “Sorry.”
You try your hardest not to blush. Eddie kicks you from under the table, and softly he oh-so-seductively he mutters,
“I was just tryna help her out.”

Companion piece to my Stobin childhood friends au post because try as I might to resist it, the Steddie brain rot will take over.
Robin and Steve are thick as thieves from that first day of preschool. Their matching friendship bracelets don't fit anymore and have found homes in their "secret friendship treasure chest" which is a shoe box covered in construction paper decorations that lives under Robin's bed so Steve's parents don't throw away any of his "trash" again. They've started a tradition of making a new one for each other at the start of every year so everyone remembers they're best friends, though.
Halfway through first grade (Robin got to start school a year early like the Buckleys hoped) things are going great for Robin. She gets to bring books home from the library and their teacher complimented her drawing of a robin and she helped Steve pass his spelling test last week, so as far as she's concerned this is the best year ever.
Right up until Eddie Munson transfers to their school.
At first, Robin doesn't know that Eddie will be her arch-nemesis. When he's introduced to the class, all she really thinks about him is that he looks a little funny but seems nice. He's got really big eyes and he's taller than most of the other kids with long, gangly limbs. His hair is shaved down to his head, but there are other boys in class who are the same. He gets placed at the table group to the left of them in the chair closest to Steve's.
She very quickly forgets about him as the day continues as normal. Robin thinks math block is boring, she'd much rather read her books or play with Steve at recess but her parents said knowing your shapes is important, so she pays extra special attention. That's why she doesn't catch the little wave Steve, ever the social butterfly, gives to the boy across the way or the way Eddie's eyes go even bigger and a soft blush steals across his cheeks.
What she does notice is when Eddie comes up to them in the last few precious minutes of recess slightly sweaty and out of breath holding a little white daisy.
"Hi! I'm Eddie, I'm new!" he says, shouting really, looking directly at Steve.
"Oh, hi Eddie! I'm Steve, this is my bestest friend, Robin." Steve replies.
"Like the bird?" Eddie asks.
"Yeah! They're orange."
"And I hate orange!" Robin buts in, not willing to be left out of the conversation
"Yeah, it's really sad. They should be blue, that's Robin's favorite color." Steve says, real disappointment creeping into his voice. "Who's that for?" he asks, pointing to the forgotten daisy.
"Oh! It's for you! I was out all recess looking for the best one in the field. They kind of match your shirt!' Eddie says proudly, referencing Steve's polo with the yellow body and white sleeves. It's one of his favorites.
"Really? That's so nice, thank you!" Steve exclaims as he takes the little flower into his hands.
Robin's mom says that sometimes when you want to be someone's friend, it's good to start by giving them something nice. Robin's mom says that she should try and make more friends, maybe some girls instead of just Steve, but when Robin tries to talk to the other girls in class, she gets nervous and clams up. She thinks she might be allergic to them. Plus, why would she need more friends when she has Steve, who is worth at least three normal friends.
Steve gets along with everyone, he lends people erasers and pencils and shares his blocks with the other kids when he's allowed to bring them out of his cubby, but no one is his best friend like Robin is.
No one has ever given Steve flowers before, though. That feels like an extra special kind of gift that someone would give if they wanted to be really good friends, and Robin doesn't want that. Steve is her best friend, he doesn't need another one.
"Steve, we gotta go get in line before all the other kids! We don't want to be last!" she blurts out, grabbing Steve by the hand and dragging him across the asphalt to where the teachers are getting ready to call everyone to get in line before Eddie can catch up.
Once they've got their places, she looks back at Steve behind her to see he's turned around. She peaks her head around him and sees him smiling wide at an equally smiley Eddie who's about 5 kids behind them, each of them waving happily at each other.
Oh yeah, Robin is going to have to keep an eye on him.

Note
Omg Steve holding onto grudges his daughters have let go is so real. My mom told me the other day that she still hates one of my sisters ex-friends from over 15 years ago. How do you think Steve reacts if one of the girls bring a friend (reformed enemy) home? I know he would be an adult, but still a little petty I think.
Honestly same my mom still talks about one particular ex-friend of mine from when I was in elementary school who I haven't seen or spoken to in over a decade.
Yeah, Steve would be the picture of civility to the friends themselves. There's been enough fully-burned bridges for him to trust his daughters' judgement, though he definitely would be psychoanalyzing every single word that came out of their mouths.
Where it would show is when he interacts with those friends' parents because, in his eyes, they're the ones who taught that kind of behavior, and Steve has some level of awareness that he and Eddie are, to their upper-middle class liberal town, the cool gay dads. Steve's social calendar is booked solid, and wherever he shows up is the place to be in the eyes of the other parents. He will use that privilege for evil if he must.
Like, if Moe's friend Kaley excluded her from a basketball team-sleepover, Steve is suddenly chronically unavailable for all of Kaley's mom's wine and cheese nights.
Robbie might have mended fences with her friend Skylar, but funnily enough Skylar's dad never was able to work Steve into the carpool rotation again.
For the record, Eddie does not have any awareness of any of this. He's the dad who classically does not know any of his children's friends. If he woke up in a Saw trap and the only requirement was to name one (1) of his daughters' friends, he'd be completely fucked.

I Wanna Be Yours - Part One
Summary: You are best friends with single dad Eddie Munson and you are helping him raise his daughter because you are head over heels for both of them.
Part Two Here Part Three Here
You had been best friends with Eddie Munson for years. You guys met when you were preteens living in the same trailer park. He was a couple of years older than you but he was always good company. You had been inseparable ever since and you even make the joke that he failed his senior year twice so that he could graduate with you. You understood each other like no one else could. You both had troubled upbringings and bonded over your similar home lives. Where he was raised by his uncle Wayne, you were raised by your grandma. You really felt like he was one of the only people that truly understood you, so it was no wonder that you were head over heels in love with him since you were 17.
A few months after your high school graduation, you decided you would finally tell Eddie about your feelings for him. You two were close enough that if he didn’t reciprocate those feelings, you were sure you could still be close friends, at least that’s what you were telling yourself as you walked across the trailer park to his trailer. You entered and headed to his bedroom where you knocked on the door.
“What?!,” Eddie asked suddenly.
“Hey Eds, what’s the matter?,” You asked. You knew him like the back of your hand and you knew that even though his tone came off as rude, he was just stressed.
“You know this would only happen to me. I finally graduate high school. Finally. I think, fuck it, if I can do that, I can make it out of this town. We can leave and enjoy life. Travel. But no, god has a fucked up plan for my life,” He says, taking a long drag of the cigarette between his lips.
“Okay, what’s going on?”
“Jules is fucking pregnant Y/N. I slept with her all of one time and I fucking got her pregnant. I used protection I don’t understand how this happened.”
You knew that you now had a blank expression across your face. Eddie sat down on his bed and dropped his face into his hands. You stared at him and you knew you were completely fucked because all you wanted to do was comfort the guy you were totally in love with who got another girl pregnant. You sat down beside him and affectionately rubbed his arm with your hand.
“What if I suck at being a dad Y/N? What if I fuck the kid up like my dad fucked me up?,” He asks looking over at you.
“Eds, you are going to be a great dad. And I’ll always be there for you no matter what. I will help you that best that I can. You are way more of a man than your dad ever could be. I believe in you,” You respond. Eddie hugs you and you know that he’s crying. He’s scared and all you can do is be there for him.
Over the next few years, you kept true to your word like you always did. You stuck beside Eddie’s side and watched him become a great father to a beautiful little girl. You helped him wherever you could. Especially since Jules decided that she didn’t want the responsibly of being a parent herself. Eddie essentially had full custody of Halle himself. You and Eddie had decided to get an apartment together to help each other with the cost of moving out. He didn’t think that it was fair to raise a child in Waynes house, taking up yet more of his limited space, and you desperately wanted to be out of your grandmas house and have some independence. (Not to mention you were now in love with Eddie’s daughter as well as still being in love with him).
The three of you lived together in a 2 bedroom apartment. Eddie worked 2nd shift at the plant his uncle worked at making decent money, but a good chunk of it went to bills and Halle. You worked 1st shift as a teller at the local bank in Hawkins. Your schedules made it easier to take care of Halle together. When you got off of work, you would pick Halle up from the babysitters and take her home and feed her dinner and get her ready for the night. She would spend the morning with Eddie an he would drop her off at the babysitters on the way to work. To any outsider, it would look as if you were actually Halle’s mother and that you lived a simple domestic life, and you sometimes wished that was the truth.
Halle was 4 years old and she was a carbon copy of your best friend. He made you her godmother when she was born. You absolutely adored the little girl. She was funny and a total sweetheart. She could pull your heartstrings like no other person could, except for her dad. There were some complications to the arrangement you had with Eddie, however, which brought you to tonight. The last thing Eddie had on his mind since Halle was born was dating, so you decided to put yourself out there. You were dating Landon for a little over a month now and he was a nice enough guy. You had some similar interests and he was attractive. He had brought up coming over to your apartment and you quickly shot down the idea, which he didn’t question the first couple of times, but after a month of dating, he had a feeling you were hiding something from him.
You had finally told him about your living situation and how you were living with your male best friend and helping him raise his daughter and he didn’t see it as normal as you did. You always had this kind of luck when it came to dating and explaining your living arrangements to them. None of them could believe that you weren’t sleeping with Eddie.
“Theres just no way you could help raise someone’s daughter AND live with them with nothing in return. You have to be fucking him. ,” Landon had put it so plainly. You left his apartment right then and there and didn’t look back. You were now back at your apartment on the couch, drinking wine and watching shitty tv to try to distract yourself from your dwelling. You were dwelling on the fact that even though you did like Landon, part of the reason you got so upset is because you desperately wanted what he described. You hated that you couldn’t seem to move on from Eddie. You hated that you fell more in love with him every time you saw him with his daughter. You hated that he had you in a chokehold you couldn’t break free from, yet at the same time, you also didn’t want to break free from it. It was a vicious cycle you were going through lately. You would meet a guy, go on a few dates, and then once you break it off with them, you would realize that you never would have committed to them anyways and pity yourself.
Eddie was currently at his weekly dinner at Waynes house with Halle which you often also went to, but opted out of tonight since you had a date. You had planned out being out later than you were, so when Eddie came back at 8:30 carrying a sleeping Halle in his arms and saw you sitting on the couch alone drinking wine, he was surprised to say the least.
“Hey, what are you doing back already? I thought you were out with Lane tonight?,” Eddie asked quietly, laying Halle down on the loveseat carefully and giving you a puzzled look. Part of you thinks he always said your dates names wrong on purpose just to get under your skin.
“Landon. And nah that’s over. He was a loser,” You replied, taking another drink of wine and turning your attention back to the tv.
“I thought you really liked this one?,” Eddie asked sitting down beside you.
“Yeah, well, I haven’t even known him for that long. He let his true colors show tonight and I wasn’t impressed, so its over. I think I’m just gonna stop dating for a while.”
“Dating is for losers. Be single and boring with me,” Eddie replied and chuckled lightly.
“Sounds good to me,” You responded, smiling slightly at your best friend. Halle then stirred in her sleep and looked over at you.
“Y/N?,” She asked quietly, reaching out towards you. You place your glass on the table and go over to the loveseat where she was laying and pick her up and place her in your lap.
“Hey princess, I missed you,” You say cuddling the small girl.
“Missed you, too. Why didn’t you go to grandpas with us?,” She asks, rubbing the sleep out of her big brown eyes.
“Well, I promised to eat dinner with someone else, but can I tell you a secret?,” You ask, lowering your voice.
“Yeah,” She said with a smile.
“I would have much rather spent my night with you pretty girl,” You tell her, tickling her neck and she lets out a giggle in return. You lay your head back on the loveseat and cuddle with Halle until she falls back asleep. You are stroking her back when you start to drift off yourself. You are woken up when you feel Eddie gently picking her up off of you to take her to bed.
“You should go lay down in bed before you hurt your neck on the loveseat,” Eddie says to you, smiling down at you.
“Okay Eds,” You say. You stand up and follow him down the hallway and go into your own bedroom ,” Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” He says.
While asleep, you dream of the night Eddie told you he got Jules pregnant, instead you get to tell him that you love him first. He tells you he’s in love with you also and he asks you to raise his daughter with him and be her mom. You are enjoying the dream when you are woken up in the morning. You are woken up by movement on your bed. You open your eyes slowly and see Halle laying on her stomach beside you, looking down at you as you sleep.
“Good morning babygirl. What are you doing up?,” You ask looking at her.
“Daddy’s asleep and I want pancakes,” She responds.
“Mmmm, pancakes do sound pretty good,” You say. You pull her small body into yours and cuddle her and she giggles ,”Just five more minutes.”
“But I’m hungry nowwwww,” she slightly whines.
“Fine, but only for my favorite girl,” You tell her and kiss her forehead before sitting up. She hops off of your bed and runs to the kitchen. You slowly get out of bed and make your way to the kitchen after her. You get out a pan and whip up some boxed pancake batter. You make enough pancakes and bacon for the three of you. You and Halle eat breakfast together and Eddie still hasn’t gotten out of bed. You were sure the smell of bacon would wake him up. Once you’re done eating, you look at Halle.
“Your dad sure is being lazy today,” You joke with her.
“We have to wake him up,” She states matter-o-factly.
“Do you want to play a joke on him with me?,” You ask smirking at the girl and she immediately giggles and says yes. You grab a now cool pancake and head to Eddie’s room with Halle following right behind you. She slowly opens the bedroom door and you see Eddie peacefully sleeping , slightly drooling onto his pillow. You think he looks beautiful like this and you almost feel bad that you’re about to ruin his peaceful slumber. You walk carefully through the bedroom and toss the pancake so it lands flatly across his face and startles him awake. Halle laughs loudly.
“Heyyy, what was that forrr?,” He asks whining.
“Get up lazy,” You say to him with a smirk on your face.
“Yeah get up lazy,” Halle mimics you.
“Is this a pancake?,” Eddie asks, holding it out in front of his half closed eyes and examining it.
“Yes it is. At your daughters request,” You respond.
“Aww you had pancakes without me?,” He says.
“We made some for you, too lazy,” You say.
“Yeah lazy,” Halle says again.
“Hey, that’s daddy to you little missy,” He says grabbing Halle and pulling her into him and tickling her. She shrieks out a laugh. Eddie lets up on her and takes a bite of the pancake that you threw at his face.
“Did you make bacon?,” Eddie asks looking at you hopefully.
“Duh. Who would I be if I made pancakes without bacon?,” You respond and smile back at him.
“Definitely not my favorite adult anymore,” He teases and stands up. The three of you make your way out of his bedroom and back into the kitchen. You pour Eddie a cup of coffee and refresh your own while he heats up his pancakes and bacon and then sits down to eat. You hand him his cup and sit down at the table with him.
“What should we do today Halle?,” You ask her.
“Play dress up and fashion show,” Halle says and steals a piece of her dads bacon. That meant that she wanted you to do her makeup and put on her princess dresses so she could model in her oversized childrens high heels for you and Eddie and you couldn’t be happier to do that.
“Sounds like a plan, stan,” You say.
“Who’s Stan?,” Halle asked, confused.
“I’m sorry, is that not your name?,” You tease the girl. She laughs at you.
“No, my name is Halle,” She responds laughing.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I spent all this time thinking your name was Stan,” You smile widely at the girl and she returns the smile.
“Do you want to play dress up and fashion show with us daddy?,” Halle asks Eddie.
“Ill be a judge at the fashion show, I’m not letting you two trick me into wearing makeup again,” Eddie says taking a drink of his coffee and narrowing his eyes at you. You chuckle at him, remembering when you conned him into letting you do his makeup and hair and forcing him to walk down the ‘runway’ as you and Halle rated his walk.
“Robin is coming over later to hang out for a little bit,” You say to the two of them. You had been close with Robin for a while as you two were in marching band together. She was your closest friend other than Eddie.
“Will Robin play dress up and fashion show with us?,” Halle asks.
“I’m sure she will for a little bit,” You respond and she smiles widely. You spend the morning catching up on some of your laundry for work and doing some household chores. Then it was time for the infamous dress up and fashion show. You used your bedroom as the dressing room. You carefully put some light makeup on Halle and helped her braid her curly hair. She put on a pink princess dress and some plastic childrens high heels and walked out of your bedroom and down the runway (hallway) out to the living room to model for her dad.
“9.8 out of 10,” Eddie says with a smile on his face. He used to give her a 10/10 every time, but she got bored with the same answer every time so now he would switch it up to keep her happy. Halle came back to your room and this time changed into a green princess dress and the same high heels. She walked back out to the living room to get Eddie’s rating for this outfit.
“11 out of 10,” Eddie says.
“Daddy, 11 is more than 10,” Halle says with a frown, crossing her arms across her chest.
“Well you are smarter than me, so I’ll take your word for it. 9.98 out of 10,” Eddie’s responds. There’s a knock at the door and Halle goes over to answer it and finds Robin.
“Ohh wow, that a 10 out of 10 look right there,” Robin says entering the apartment and Halle hugs her legs.
“Thank you,” Halle says with a bright smile.
“How come she can give you a 10 out of 10 but I can’t?,” Eddie asks.
“Cause daddy, you said it every time,” Halle says. Eddie holds his hands up defensively. Robin makes her way to your bedroom and sits down on the end of your bed.
“Hey what have you been up to?,” Robin asks taking off her jacket. Halle runs back into the room this time with an old Halloween costume.
“I want this dress now,” She says holding it out to you. You help her put on the witches dress with the matching hat and she makes her way back out to the hallway.
“Not much. I ended things with Landon last night,” You reply.
“What was wrong with him?,” Robin asks curiously.
“He got mad when I told him about my living situation. Said there was no way I could live with a man without having sex with him,” you respond.
“Oh you most definitely can. I live with Steve and I don’t have sex with him,” Robin says.
“Robs, you’re not attracted to men, that doesn’t really count,” You respond.
“Oh so you’re admitting you want to have sex with Eddie then?,” Robin asks with a smirk. A blush washes over your face and you roll your eyes.
“C’mon Y/N, I know you’re in love with him,” Robin states.
“You’re in love? Like in a fairytale?,” Halle asks coming back into the room and you shoot daggers at Robin.
“Robin doesn’t know what she’s talking about,” You say helping Halle change into her next outfit. Eddie walks into your room.
“Daddy! Y/N is in love like in a fairytale!,” Halle says excitedly.
“Oh is she now? You have a change of heart about Brandon?,” Eddie asks.
“Landon. And no. Robin is just assuming things,” You respond.
“Who’s Brandon?,” Halle asks.
“No one important Hals,” You say to her.
“So who’s the lucky guy then?,” Eddie asks teasing you.
“My lord and savior Jesus Christ,” You deadpan and Eddie chuckles.
“I’m actually gonna take our single friend out tonight to meet the love of her life,” Robin says wrapping an arm around your shoulder and ruffling your hair.
“Robs, its Sunday. Where am I going to meet the love of my life?,” You look at her.
“I don’t know, church?,” She shrugs her shoulders and Eddie laughs again.
“Okay well you kids have fun,” Eddie says chuckling, grabbing Halles hand and leading her out of the room.
“I’m only 2 years younger than you!,” You shout after him and he laughs again. You fall back onto your bed and sigh dramatically.
“C’mon Y/N, come out with me, it’ll be fun. We can get a drink or two and mingle. I’ll be your wingwoman,” Robin says.
“I’m swearing off dating for a while,” you respond with your eyes closed.
“Why, because you don’t have the balls to tell the man you want to date your feelings for him?,” Robin asks. You stand up from your bed and change into an outfit to go out with Robin in.
“You know what, I’ll go out with you just so you stop accusing me of being in love with him,” you say.
“Hah! I got my way,” Robin responds with a shit eating grin on her face. You finish getting ready and both leave the apartment. You decide to go to a local bar. When you get there, you order a mojito and Robin orders a double-shot of jack and coke. You both sit at the bar for a while and make small talk.
“Hey, can I buy you a drink?,” A guy that appears to be in his mid to late twenties with blonde hair and brown eyes comes up to you and asks.
“No thank you, I have my one for the night. Thank you though!,” you respond and turn back to Robin.
“Y/N what the hell! I didn’t even have to be your wingwoman he just came up to you and you totally shut him down,” Robin exclaims.
“I could tell I wasn’t interested,” You respond.
“Why cuz he’s not Eddie?,” Robin asks.
“Yeah pretty fucking much!,” You say and lay your head on your arm ,” I am so pathetic. I’ve been in love with that man since I was 17 and now I’m 23. That’s 6 years Robin. Six fucking years and he has no interest in dating. What am I doing?,” You asking, taking a swig of your drink and looking at her.
“I finally got you to admit it!,” Robin says excitedly.
“Yeah well you bring it up every time were together so you wore me down. Happy?,” You ask.
“Well now we gotta figure out how to get you two together,” Robin replies.
“Robin, I’ve known him for forever. Don’t you think if he was attracted to me at all I would have any sort of indication?,” You respond rhetorically.
“No because love makes you blind. What about the fact that he never says the right names for the guys you date?,” Robin says.
“What about it? He has smoked a lot of weed in his life, it can fuck with your memory,” You reply.
“He does it on purpose because he doesn’t like any guy you date,” Robin says.
“He’s never met the guys I date,” You respond.
“And why do you think that is? Because you don’t care about the guys you date as much as you do Eddie. You wont even let them come to your apartment because you don’t want to have a serious relationship because you’re in love with him. And I think he has feelings for you, too,” Robins says.
“And what makes you ‘think’ that?,” You ask and roll your eyes.
“The way he looks at you. Especially the way he looks at you when you’re with Halle,” Robin says.
“Robs that not proof. Unless Eddie has come up to you and said ‘Robin, I have feelings for Y/N’, you have no solid proof for me to go on to ruin my friendship with him,” You respond.
“I’ll get it out of him just like I did you. I’ll have Steve help me wear him down,” Robin responds.
“Oh yeah that’s real comforting, wearing someone down to admit feelings,” You respond.
“Well, it worked with you did it not?,” Robin says.
“Fine, you can try all you want, but I guarantee he does not feel the same way,” You respond finishing your drink.
“Okay ms grumpy pants,” Robin says. You leave the bar and head home to finish your laundry and do the rest of your tasks to get ready for the workweek. You drift off to sleep daydreaming about Eddie confessing his feelings for you and and kissing his soft lips with yours finally.

The plants are Eddie's idea.
Each and every one of them is rescued or adopted in some way: salvaged from a home that hadn't cared for it, up for grabs on the side of the road, forgotten in the corners of Home Depot, leftovers from wedding centerpieces that surely are going to be tossed after the reception ends. Eddie knows what it feels like to be forgotten, left out, neglected, and just because plants don't have a voice stand on lunch tables and air their frustrations with broken systems, that doesn't mean they don't feel. So yes, Eddie loves his plants, loves them with almost the same intensity that he loves their cat, Bruce.
At first, Steve just nods and shrugs and gives Eddie that fond smile that says I don't get it but you're happy so I'm happy. The same smile Steve wears when Eddie rambles on about Dungeons and Dragons, about the intricacies of being both a Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne fan, about why Mothman and Bigfoot and mermaids absolutely exist, Steve! It's endearing and warm, and Eddie loves him so goddamn much. Even more than Bruce, even more than the plants.
What Eddie doesn't expect, though, is for Steve to grow to love the plants, too. In true Steve fashion, he brushes it off when he pinches dead leaves from the Pothos, or when he smiles as he sprays the Boston fern. Eddie knows that, bare minimum, Steve cares about their plant babies and so when he ends up going on a week-long tour with Corroded Coffin, he doesn't worry too much about the little green souls that litter their apartment.
A week is a long time, and Eddie misses home so much that he doesn't announce himself as he barrels through the front door the following Saturday afternoon.
"Yeah, see? You’re doing great."
Eddie freezes in his tracks. Who the fuck is Steve talking to with that whispered voice? The one that, up until now, Eddie presumed was for him and him only. He knows he'd never cheat, but seriously, who's in their apartment?
"Atta girl, look at you! See, I told you, we'd figure this out."
He sets his bags down as quietly as he can, toes off his boots, and slowly pads along the beige carpet to peak around the corner to their living room.
Oh.
Steve's talking to their plants.
Eddie leans against the doorframe and watches as Steve smiles, wide and bright enough to replace the sun shining in through the streaky bay window, while moving from plant to plant, pot to pot, singing their praises and lavishing them with compliments and affirmation.
"You're growing so well!"
"See? I watered you and you popped right back up. You don't have to be dramatic about it."
"When your other dad gets home, we’ve gotta talk about repotting you. You're definitely outgrowing this pot."
Eddie clears his throat and Steve whirls around with a wild look in his eye that reminds him so much of the time he caught Dustin snooping in his campaign materials that he briefly wonders if Dustin and Steve actually are biologically related.
“Oh honey, I’m home!” Eddie singsongs and grins as he shoves away from the door jam, walking over to Steve who’s already rolling his eyes and groaning.
“How much did you hear?”
“Enough to feel a little jealous of the Boston fern over here.” Eddie gestures towards the large fern spilling over the sides of its planter. “You never tell me I’m growing so well.”
Steve sets down the watering bottle and pulls Eddie in closer, both arms wrapped tightly around his waist. Eddie melts, letting himself be held and loved. A week really is a long time.
“No, but I do tell you when you’re being dramatic,” he teases, pressing a soft kiss against Eddie’s lips that’s more the touch of smiles than of mouths.
Eddie pulls back just enough to catch Steve’s gaze, warm and comforting. “You do realize that I’ll never let this go, right?”
Never. Always. Forever.
Eddie was never one for absolute language, except when it comes to Steve. He’ll never let him live this down, because he’ll always be here. Forever.
Steve laughs, shaking his head. “I’d sure hope not.”

You wake up way earlier than your best friend Arwen, which was a rare occurrence considering you like to sleep as long as you can. Though it was common for your body to force you awake at seven in the morning after a night of drinking so it wasn’t much of a shock when you spotted the time on her alarm clock on your way to the bathroom. You’re pretty sure the only reason you weren’t able to fall back asleep was because you’ve only ever been at her house once before, most of the time she would go to your apartment that you shared with your mutual friend.
“Hey, Winnie?” You nudge her shoulder to help wake her enough to answer your question.
“What?” She groans in response, burrowing into her blanket to escape what little light there is in the room.
“Do you want me to make you my special hangover breakfast?” Her interest is peaked at that and she turns over peeking out from the blanket the slightest bit.
“Yes please.”
“You better start waking up now then or I’ll eat it all without you.” That’s a lie, you know you’ll probably make more than enough for the two of you. You were bad with portion control with no excuse for it. Arwen groans in response again but violently shoves the blanket from her face to start feeling okay enough to get up. You’re quick to make your way into the kitchen to start raiding her fridge for eggs after that.
Some pop bullshit playing way too loud wakes Eddie up in the morning. There’s a pounding in his head from being out with the guys from the garage the night before and he’s ready to ignore it and go back to bed, covering his head with a pillow to muffle it. But as another song starts the music gets turned up and he’s quick to get out of bed despite his headache to put a stop to it.
“For the love of God Arwen, turn this shit down!” He shoves his shirt over his head as he crosses the hall into the kitchen. The sound of his voice stops your swaying to the song and your head whips over just in time to watch his abdomen disappear beneath his shirt, your mouth dropping slightly at the sight.
“Sorry! Sorry, I didn’t know anyone else was here I swear!” The unfamiliar voice has his eyes shooting to the stranger in his kitchen who’s wearing one of his old shirts and nothing else evident of how when you reach to turn the radio down he gets a peak of your panties as it rides up. He forces his attention away then, positive that you have to be one of Arwen's friends and are definitely way too young for him to even think of looking at you like that.
“Who are you?”
“I’m Y/n.” You go back to smoothing peanut butter over Arwen's toast before you stop and point the knife at him. “Wait, who are you?” You’re stuck being confused because Winnie definitely said her dad wasn’t going to be home again and you’re pretty sure she doesn’t have any siblings.
“Dad?” Arwen stops at the entrance as she sees him. “I thought you weren’t going to be home till this afternoon.” Her voice is scratchy with sleep and she winces from the light in the kitchen but refuses to shield her eyes and let her dad even start to think she’s hungover.
“I came home late last night instead. Want to explain why there’s a half naked girl in my kitchen blasting music too early in the morning?” He crosses his arms and you admire how his shirt hugs his biceps before his words register in your head. Your face heats up as you glance down at your bare legs. You’re quick to snap out of any embarrassment you feel to save your friend who you can tell is lagging to find a reason that isn’t we were too drunk to go anywhere else.
“I got really drunk last night and Winnie offered me a safe place to stay so creeps wouldn’t try to take me home. Save me from any new embarrassing one night stands. I think I might go put some pants on now though if you’ll just excuse me.” You stop next to Arwen to speak directly to her. “There’s bananas sliced up for your toast, I didn’t have time to put it all together yet, and the eggs are done.”
“Thanks, Tigs.” You smile and squeeze her forearm before making your way upstairs to steal a pair of her pajama pants.
“You just gave her a place to stay huh?” Eddie asks as soon as Arwen’s attention is back on him.
“You heard her, that’s what happened.” She can’t look him in the eyes and instead moves to make herself a plate and finish setting up her toast. A sign that she’s not telling the truth.
“Alright, whatever story you wanna tell me kid.” While she gets her food and heads into the dining room to eat Eddie starts the process of making himself some coffee. He’s leaning against the counter waiting for the pot to fill up when you come back in to get your own food.
“How old are you anyway?”
“Twenty,” you shrug, “I’ll be twenty one this year though and I’ve been drinking for longer than I should’ve been thanks to my old man. So leave whatever lecture you may have for Arwen.” He can recognize the disdain for your father in your voice even though you keep it even. It’s the same way he used to talk about his own father growing up.
“Pretty girls like you shouldn’t lie you know? It’s an ugly habit.” Eddie finally speaks up after a beat of silence while he grabs a mug from the cabinet above his head. You immediately know that he must’ve asked Arwen about your story and she can’t lie to save her life.
“Sorry sir, it’ll probably happen again.” You leave the kitchen a piece of toast between your teeth leaving Eddie there to wonder what he was doing even semi flirting with a girl half his age but also if the flirtatious tone in your voice was in his imagination or not. Shaking his head to rid himself of any other thoughts about it he fills his cup and heads outside to have a smoke.
“Winnie!” You whisper to her in a hushed tone that means you’re about to jokingly yell at her for something as soon as you hear the front door shut.
“What?” She swallows before she speaks, hesitant to hear what sort of unhinged thing is about to come out of your mouth.
“Why didn’t you tell me your dad was hot? I mean I should’ve guessed because where else would you get your looks but damn.”
“Shut up, oh my God!” She slaps your shoulder and shoves you a little when all you do is laugh. “I’m literally begging you, do not fuck my dad.” You’re the type of person who when they know what they want they go for it, it’s how the two of you became friends in the first place, so she knows what you might be thinking.
“Hey, I’m not gonna promise anything. If it happens it happens y'know.”
“Y/n!” Despite her reprimanding tone she laughs at your words.
“I can promise that I won’t force it or anything though. Won’t go for it the same way I do when we go out.”
“Okay fine, I’ll accept that.” She knows that if anything were to happen it wouldn’t ruin your friendship or the relationship she has with her dad. Because as much as that might be awkward or weird, you’re both consenting adults and honestly her dad wouldn’t be the worst man you’ve ever slept with. “Now eat your food so we can get back to your place and study for our Spanish test.”
“Alright we’re out of here dad!” Arwen yells through the house as the two of you put your shoes on. Your purse is slung over your shoulder, your dress from the night before shoved inside deciding the walk would be easier if you just wore what you slept in.
“To where?” He makes an appearance in the entryway just as you’re standing up from tying your heels up your ankle. “And how are you getting there since your car isn’t here?”
“Back to Y/n’s apartment, it’s just a like twenty five minute walk.” He notes how thin your heels are and then notices the pitter patter of the rain that started not too long ago.
“It’s raining.” He points out crossing his arms and leaning against the doorway.
“That’s alright, a little rain never killed anybody.” You shrug and meet his eyes, breath hitching as you do, realizing for the first time how pretty they are.
“I’ll drive you two there.”
“You really don’t have to Mr. Munson.” You speak while Arwen stays silent hearing the finality in his voice.
“God, don’t call me that makes me feel old. Just Eddie will do.” He looks up towards you while he ties his sneakers up. He stands and grabs his keys from the hook before holding the door open for the two of you to leave before locking the door behind him. “Whoever’s giving me directions gets shotgun.”
The two of you are looking at each other next to the car when he turns around seeming to have a silent conversation. Arwen sighs before caving and letting you sit up front leaving you to smile and open the passenger door. It’s not long before Eddie’s in the car and starting it up.
“You can put whatever on the radio if you want.” He nods towards it as he turns the key in the ignition inwardly preparing himself for some pop nonsense like what woke him up this morning. You’re quick to make yourself busy with going through stations when his hand goes to the back of your headrest to backup.
“Oh, I love this song!” You can’t help but say as you find a station playing Crazy Bitch and lean back in your seat nodding your head to the music. “You’re gonna make a left here.”
“This is a whole one eighty to that pop bullsit you woke me up with.” There’s a hint of teasing in his voice as he points out his observation and takes the left turn.
“Don’t be a music snob, The Pussycat Dolls are just as good as Buckcherry. Turn right into the apartment complex after the next light.”
“The Pussycat dolls?” He laughs at the absurdity of the name. “Sounds like the name of a stripclub.” You burst into laughter at that and Eddie finds himself relishing in the sound.
“You’re not wrong.” You speak through flirtatious giggles as he stops in front of the apartment next to yours.
“Alright bye dad! I’ll be home later.”  Arwen rushes out of the car not wanting to listen to you try to flirt with her dad.
“What about your car?” Her door shuts before he can finish his sentence.
“Her cars here. A friend drove us over to your place since neither of us could drive.” You open your door unbuckling yourself as you do. “Alright bye Eddie!”
“Is Jess home?” Arwen asks you when you join her on the sidewalk.
“Nah, she’s out with her new guy.” He was the reason the two of you went to Arwen’s last night. Neither of you wanted to be kept up longer just because you could hear them through the thin walls. “So she won’t be around to distract us from studying.”
Throughout the last two months of the semester you spend most of the study dates and hang outs you normally have with Arwen at your place at her house, hoping to catch just a glimpse of Eddie. Normally you get a lot more than just a glimpse like him trying to make dinner and deciding to just call for a pizza instead. The next time you were around while he tried you made your way into the kitchen to shoo him away before he could start messing up, giving him the easy job of watching the pasta while it boiled while you got the chicken ready. Since then if you’re around for dinner time you take over the kitchen claiming it as your space while Arwen and Eddie help and keep you company.
Or when you and Arwen have movie nights in her living room and he shows up in the middle of a movie commenting on it. During one of Winnie’s picks, Fifty First Dates, he came in and complained that he thought he raised her to have better taste than that. Another time during one of your picks, Napoleon Dynamite, he commented on how you like weird things. Both times, and most other times, he ended up standing there and getting sucked into the movie until enough time passes that you and Arwen tell him to just sit down if he’s going to watch with you.
You’ve even hung out with just Eddie before. The first time it was an accident, you forgot Arwen had told you she was staying late at work and you showed up at the door to find just Eddie home. You had offered to just come back later but he ushered you in saying it was fine and that you wouldn’t be bothering him if you stayed. It was then that you discovered how funny he can be and how big of a nerd he is, the evidence being the beat up copy of The Fellowship of The Ring sitting on the table that he admitted to reading for the millionth time and how he talked about how he spent most of his time when he was younger playing Dungeons and Dragons. So you started getting to the Munson household earlier than you should be there in order to talk to him more.
You come knocking on the Munsons door, tears beading at the corners of your eyes and a crumpled up paper in your hand. You really should’ve called Arwen ahead of time but you weren’t thinking of it till you showed up at the door. You just know you need her right now.
“Y/n? What are you doing here sweetheart?” He had started calling you that not long after the realization came to him that you were going to be around all the time.
“Is Winnie here?” Your voice breaks and Eddie notices the glossiness of your eyes immediately.
“No, she’s at work. What’s wrong?”
“Fuck! Okay, sorry for bothering you.” You’re so stupid of course she’s at work she always works Saturday nights now that summer started.
“You’re not botherin’ me darlin’, you never are. What’s going on?” The gentleness of his voice almost causes you to break down so you’re quick to try to leave.
“I’ll just see her when she goes on break. Bye Eddie.” You turn and start to walk away but then Eddie’s grabbing onto your wrist and stopping you from going any further.
“Hey, what’s got you all worked up baby?” He doesn’t mean to let the pet name slip through his lips but he’s panicking over the state you’re in. You don’t even notice it at first, won’t notice it till later and you’re replaying the events of the day in your head and suddenly you're squealing into your pillow like a teenager.
“I, um.” Your fist clenches crinkling the piece of mail you opened not long ago even more and bringing Eddie’s attention to it.
“What’s this?” He gently unwraps your fingers from around it and takes it from you pausing before reading it in case you had any objections to it. As he looks at you the question of if it was alright in his eyes you nod to tell him to go ahead.
As his eyes start skimming it the tears you’ve been trying to hold back until you could see Arwen come rushing forward. They fall in rapid succession as you watch his lips mouth the words on the invitation in his hand. You’re invited to join Ben and Jennifer on their most special of days. June twenty second two thousand seven.
“Sweetheart, is this what’s got you so upset?” You can only nod afraid of a whine escaping your lips if you let them open even slightly. It comes out when he brings you into a hug though and even though the last thing you wanna do is sob into Winnie’s hot dads - who’s become so much more than that to you these past few months - chest but you can’t help it.
Eddie isn’t sure what to do, he’s never been good at seeing pretty girls cry. It was awful trying to calm down Arwen when she was growing up because it pained him so much to see it. He wanted to burn the world down each time she would come home crying or he would come into a room to find her crying. Seeing you cry though, somehow he feels even stronger about it.
He knows it’s wrong but since that first meeting he’s started to really like you, like really like you. And he really shouldn’t feel this way about his daughter's best friend but he couldn’t help it. You’re beautiful and witty and funny and such a dork that it pains him sometimes. You were a better person than most of the women he’s tried to date in the past eighteen years. And you seemed to always be smiling or laughing so seeing you break down for the first time since knowing you is rough.
“Come on pretty girl, let’s get you inside with a warm drink.” He’s found it to be one of your comfort things even when it’s as hot as it is today.
He sits you down at the table and it’s quiet save for your sniffles as he starts boiling water. You stare down at the wedding invite in front of you on the table with disdain. You hate yourself for being this broken up about it. You feel stupid about it. You’re not even sure if you’re crying more over that or the invite itself anymore.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Eddie places the mug in front of you and you shrug, wrapping your hands around it.
“I don’t even know where I’d start.”
“You could start with who Ben and Jennifer are?” He offers as a start and you let out an angry tearful chuckle.
“My stupid fucking ex and the woman he cheated on me with.”
“And they invited you to the wedding?” Eddie's eyes are wide confused as to why they’d invite you then. Who would want to be that cruel to someone who lights up life the way you do?
“I’m sure it wasn’t his choice. I’m pretty sure she still thinks I’m his little cousin or niece or whatever lie he told her.”
“But he couldn’t have been that much older than you. How would she believe either of those lies?”
“Well,” you stretch the word out as you say it, “he was twenty eight when we were together.”
“How old were you?”
“Eighteen.” Eddie chokes on his own spit at your words. Sure a ten year age gap isn’t that bad all things considered but you were barely legal.
“How did the two of you even meet?”
“He worked with my dad, met him while taking lunch to his office after he left it at home. He was sweet and I’ve always sort of had a thing for more mature men so we started dating until I caught him cheating on me with her. He told me I couldn’t blame him because I was too young and wouldn’t understand and then he dumped me. Left me stranded a town over when he did and Arwen had to come pick me up.”
“How long were you together?”
“A year. I was nineteen when he ended it and really I should’ve listened to Winnie when she told me it wasn’t healthy after she met him so I could break up with him first.” You still feel like an idiot for not seeing the signs earlier like when he stopped bringing you around his friends and when you went out it would be so far from any of the regular places.
“He sounds like a fucking dick and you deserve better than that.”
“Eh, I should’ve known better than to fall for his charms in the first place.” You shrug again to try to seem nonchalant about it.
“Bullshit, you were a child he shouldn’t have been trying anything with you in the first place.”
“I was eighteen!” You can’t help but defend yourself when he calls you a child, you were old enough to make your own decisions, though you never know if that’s even true because you started making your own choices and having to take care of yourself long before then. And yet him being this upset for you makes you feel better and you can’t help but wish he was around earlier to tell you how it is.
“Were you still in high school?” You’re silent knowing that you were just about finished with it when you had your first date with him. “Then you were still a kid.”
“Am I still a kid now, Eddie?” Your voice is breathless as you lean closer to him, eyes darting down to his lips before going back up to meet his own.
The way that he always seems to care so much about you makes you feel some type of way that you can’t find the words to describe. Being around him makes you feel all warm inside and the pet names he calls you never hesitate to make your heart speed up in your chest.
“Sweetheart, I’m an old man, you're all kids to me.” And yet the two of you know that isn’t true. If it was, he wouldn't treat you like an equal or constantly tell Arwen she’s an adult who can make her own decisions when she thinks he’ll be mad at her for something. As much as he views you as younger than him and possibly less mature, not that he’s super mature in the first place, he doesn’t see you as a kid. It’s especially evident in how his eyes also flick down to your lips as you get closer to him.
“Hmm that’s too bad then.” His hand cups your cheek as your lips meet. It’s probably the sweetest kiss you’ve ever had and you think you could live in this moment forever feeling his lips move against your chapped ones. The butterflies swarming in your stomach as you pull back and meet his eyes has yours widening. You pull back completely as a realization hits you.
“I, uh, I should go. I should go find Arwen and um, talk to her about all of this.” You hold up the invite hastily trying to get your things together to leave. You can’t even look at Eddie and it’s like a knife is being shoved and twisted into his chest. “Thank you Eddie, for all of this.” You motion around at the barely drunk beverage and the tear stains on his shirt before basically running out of the house.
Eddie wants to bang his head against the wall when he hears the door slam shut. Instead he lets it fall onto the table as he groans. He’s never felt like he messed up so bad in his life than when he saw the look in your eyes that wasn’t exactly regret but looked enough like it to make him hate himself for letting it happen. Especially with his daughter's best friend.
“What’s going on, why have you been avoiding coming over?” Arwen finally confronts you in the coffee shop you’ve been meeting at recently about how you’ve been dodging going to her place and going back to having things at your apartment for the past couple of weeks. “Did you and my dad… you know?”
“No! God Winnie it’s so much worse than that.” You hide your face in your hands thinking about admitting the reason to her. It’s not really that you were ashamed of it, just that you can’t believe it’s an actual thing you’re dealing with.
“What is it?” You shake your head still hidden in your hands, legs bouncing up and down anxious for how she might react if you told her. “Tigs, you know you can tell me anything.” It’s the softness to her voice that breaks you, the way that it lets you know that even if you told her it wouldn’t ruin anything between the two of you.
“We kissed!”
“Ew. Wait, how is that worse?”
“Because that’s all we did! It was just a small kiss and it made me feel all fluttery and shit.”
“Oh. Oh!” Her eyes go wide as she takes in your words. “You like him!”
“Shh don’t say it out loud!” You rush to cover her mouth with your hand so no one else will hear her.
“Oh gross! You totally have a crush on my dad.” You groan and let your head fall onto the table wanting to die.
“Can we not talk about this, it’s embarrassing.” She’s quiet for a minute drinking some of her tea before speaking.
“He’s asked about you y'know.” That has you picking your head up and looking at her.
“What?”
“Yeah, little things like how you are.” Really it’s how he’s been asking that finally gave her the push to ask you about it and how she knew something had to have happened between the two of you.
“Oh.” It’s all you can seem to get yourself to say not sure where to go from here. Asking how you are doesn’t mean anything special especially with how you left the last time you saw him and after you cried to him. It’s silent between the two of you again and Arwen makes a face at the idea of saying her next words out loud.
“I uh, I think…that he maybe might like you too.” It takes her longer than she thought it would to get out, pausing between words unsure how to word it. Never in her life had Arwen thought that her dad and best friend would be so into each other. “And I think that maybe he has for a while now possibly.” She adds on slowly again when all you do is stare wide eyed at her.
You can’t even wrap your head around what she’s saying. It sounds absolutely crazy but also seems to make sense when you think about how you weren’t the only one initiating the kiss and how domestic it feels when it’s just the two of you around each other. Like when you play cards at the table together while you wait for Winnie to get home or when you’re playfully teasing each other over music or movie tastes.
“You think so?”
“As much as it pains me to say it, Tigs, I know it.” It’s then that you burst into a relieved and astounded type of laughter.
“This is such a weird situation we’ve found ourselves in Winnie.” She laughs with you then.
“Don’t I know it, Tigs.”
“I can’t even imagine what you must be feeling right now.”
“Oh trust me, this is super fucking weird and if anything does happen with the two of you, which I’m assuming is going to happen, I’ll be super uncomfortable seeing it for a while. But it’s not like I can do anything now to prevent it from happening. And I mean it’s way less weird than it would be if we started being friends when we were younger.” She’s not even going to mention how her dad would be the biggest upgrade of your life compared to the last few guys you’ve semi dated or how it would be nice to see him in a stable relationship for once in her life. Or even how she knows that the two of you have grown so much closer than she could even know with how much you end up at her place without her there.
“If you don’t want us to start anything because it’ll cross a boundary or something, say the word and I’ll make sure nothing ever happens.” The last thing you ever want to do is ruin the friendship you have with her. You knew from the minute she walked into the first class the two of you would share in your college careers with that damn Winnie The Pooh backpack on that she would be your best friend.
“No, like I said it’ll be weird but I’ll get over it eventually. Now c'mon we don’t have much time if we’re gonna stop to get snacks before the movie.”
Later you’re both falling into her house laughing over a shared joke about being locked out when it took Arwen longer than usual to unlock the door. A joke that originated when you called her once after getting home from a long shift panicked and thinking you were locked out because your key wasn’t working and Jess wasn’t home just for the two of you to come to the realization that you were using the wrong key when she got there to help you get in.
“What do you have for food?” You lead the way into the kitchen still slightly laughing as you speak.
“We haven’t gone food shopping since the last time you were here berating us for ingredients. Dad and I have been back to living off of sandwiches, takeout, and ramen since you left us for dead.” She jumps up to sit on the kitchen counter as she exaggerates her words.
“You’re such a drama queen oh my god! How about baked rigatoni?” You spot the box of noodles in the cupboard with pasta sauce behind it.
“Fuck yes!” She doesn’t hesitate before answering.
“Do you guys have beef pulled by any chance? Because if not you’re just getting the pasta part.”
“You know what, we might. I think my dad was gonna make burgers tonight so he probably-” she moves to the fridge as she speaks, her voice trailing off at the end as she looks through it. “Aha! Here we go, some ground beef for the cook.”
“If Eddie’s planning on making burgers, should I even make anything?”
“Yes Y/n, I’m telling you make the pasta. My dad won’t be upset about you using the meat, he’d probably end up overcooking the burgers anyway.”
“Okay. Do me a favor and turn on some music then?” She nods leaving the package on the counter and making her way to the radio that sits on a shelf above one of the counters while you get the pots and pans out.
Eddie barely even notices Arwen's car in the driveway when he gets home tired from being stuck at the garage since early that morning. He hadn’t even bothered with changing before leaving tonight still in his coveralls and grease stained tank. He wants a shower and then to collapse onto the couch and watch as much as he can of Lord of The Rings before  inevitably falling asleep. He just hopes Arwen won’t mind that he doesn’t have it in him to make anything tonight like he promised.
As he passes through the threshold his senses are engulfed with the smell of food cooking, music blasting throughout the house and the sound of the two girls in the kitchen singing and laughing to it. It doesn’t even register in his brain that you’re probably over as he makes his way to the kitchen.
“What’re you making Arw-” Eddie freezes when he gets in the doorway taking in the scene playing out.
You and Arwen are dancing around the kitchen singing along to Arwen’s Pussycat Dolls CD taking turns stirring the meat sauce mixture and the boiling noodles when Eddie shows up in the doorway. Neither of you notice him at first so he silently watches on for a minute more chuckling to himself before he tries to get the two of your attention again.
“What’s going on here?” His voice cutting through Bite The Dust makes you jump before turning to look at him.
“Dinner.” Arwen answers, turning the stove off and taking the pasta over to the sink to get drained.
“Hi Eddie.” You wave suddenly feeling like you’re back in middle school being too shy to talk to your crush. You blame how good he looks leaning against the doorframe, his mechanic coveralls tied at his waist and hair pulled up in a bun at the back of his neck.
“Hey Sweetheart.” He beams glad to see you again and Arwen sighs rolling her eyes at the two of you.
“Alright I’ll give you two some privacy I guess. But I’m just going upstairs and I’ll be right back so no funny business.” You want to kiss her in thanks but also want to beg her to stay because what if she was wrong after all. She’s out of the room before either part of you can win.
“How have you been?” He asks moving to take over where Arwen left off.
“Good and you?”
“Alright.” He shrugs glancing over at you as you take the drained pasta from him and dump it into the sauce to mix it together. “We’ve missed you being around.”
“Well I’ve missed being around. Hand me that dish?” You point towards the counter and Eddie’s quick to grab it for you, your eyes catching while you’re handed it. “I’m sorry I ran out of here the way I did last time after the um-”
“The kiss?” He raises a brow amused at how you can’t seem to say it. Times like these remind him of how young you actually are despite how mature you like to make yourself seem.
“Yeah.” You don’t look at him as you finish layering the pasta and wrapping the dish in tinfoil. But your voice is soft and full of the emotions you wish you were better at communicating.
“It’s fine, I get it.” You let out the breath you didn’t realize you were holding as you opened the oven. “I wouldn’t want to be caught dead kissing an old man like me anyway.” He’s joking and you hate that such a bad joke has you laughing.
“You’re not even that old.” You roll your eyes at him and try to move around him to start the dishes but he traps you between his arms against the counter before you can get past him.
“Sweetheart, I’ve got one foot in the grave already.” Your foreheads are oh so close to touching, noses just a breath apart and you’re memorized by his puppy dog eyes.
“Hmm, that’s too bad then.” You repeat the words you used the last time you saw him. “I was kinda hoping this old man would take me on a date sometime.”
“Old? Who said anything about being old? You wound me baby.” He smiles as he speaks and his hands move to hold your face before connecting his lips with yours. You smile into the kiss loving how your lips slot together like perfect puzzle pieces, arms moving to wrap around his neck.
“Fucking hell! Gross guys! I said no funny business.”  When you look over at Arwen in the doorway her hand is thrown over her eyes in the same way a parent would to their kid when they aren’t supposed to see something on tv and you can’t help but burst into laughter, head ducking into Eddie’s chest unintentionally. Eddie flushes red a little bit with shame at his daughter walking in on him and her best friend but that feeling’s soon replaced with something else as he feels your hand on his chest lightly pushing him away but still staying close enough that he can feel your body heat.
“Okay Winnie we’re done you can look now.”
“Finally, let’s watch a movie or something while we wait for the food to be done.” She grabs your hand and pulls you out of the room but not before you send a wink over your shoulder to Eddie.

Hot Take
BUCK IS THE BEST PERSON TO GIVE DATING ADVICE TO CHRIS, HEAR ME OUT.
Okay, I know we're all laughing about women fleeing Buck and how awful he is at relationships, but I don't feel like that's true.
First of all, just because a relationship ends, doesn't mean that it FAILED. Dating is as much about getting to know YOURSELF, what you want out of a relationship and what your own boundaries are as it is about getting to know the person you're dating. It's about growing, and learning from your mistakes, and I feel like Buck HAS done that. I'm not saying he's a perfect dater (the Taylor/Lucy thing, wtf was that?) but also, he has gotten better.
With Abby, he grew from fuckboy Firehose to someone that is considerate and thoughtful to his partner. (I don't LOVE that we credit Abby for his growth, since he was the one that made the initial boundary to not meet up right away because he didn't want to fall back into that sleep with anything that moves mindset, but she is mostly credited with it canonically, so we're going to use it.) Also, she didn't leave because Buck was a bad boyfriend or anything. She left because she needed to find herself after her mom died, and that's it.
With Ali too, she left because of his job, because she couldn't handle being with a first responder, which is a genuine concern for a LOT of people. It's hard to love someone with a dangerous job like that, and not know if they're going to come home at night. It had nothing to do with who Buck was as a boyfriend.
With Taylor, that whole relationship was a mess, IMO, them getting together when they did was a recipe for disaster. Obviously, Buck shouldn't have asked her to move in because he was scared to tell her about Lucy, but I'm not saying he's a PERFECT dater, I'm saying he's learning, and that's what's important. When he did admit to the kiss, Taylor is the one that decided that it wasn't a hard line for her, or she would have broken up with him, living together or not. It probably would have been awkward and complicated, but it was all of those things when they DID break up later in the series. From this relationship, Buck learned that it's better to be alone than it is to be with someone for the wrong reasons.
He has had a lot of growth from s1 to the end of s6, and that is clear in his dating.
Now, everyone that's saying Eddie should go to Bobby or Chim for advice, I'm going to say this: It's easy to date when you immediately find the person you're going to marry.
Let me be clear, I'm not saying that Madney & Bathena don't have their own struggles within their relationships, but Bobby and Chim got pretty luck, they found women that they clicked with and then eventually fell in love with almost as soon as they went looking.
When Bobby decided he was ready to move on from Marcy, the ONLY person we actually see him dating in the show is Athena, and they end up married.
After Tatiana leaves Chim, and he decides that he's going to be himself and look for a genuine connection, Maddie is conveniently placed in front of him.
I'm not saying that either of them are bad daters, or bad partners or anything, but we don't really SEE them date. Maybe it's because they're older and they already know what they're looking for and what they can and can't accept in a relationship, but realistically, it's wild to think that you're going to fall in love and get married to the first person that you find when you start dating. The majority of people have to date around and actually look to find the person they're meant to be with, not magically find them right out of the gate.
Especially for a FIRST first date, it's all about figuring out how dating works, what is and isn't expected and acceptable and navigating getting to know a new person, as well as yourself, and I think Buck is the clear best option when it comes to experience about women. He's had several girlfriends and also convinced only God knows how many people to sleep with him, so he's obviously charming, and pleasant to spend time within a romantic situation.
Also, God knows nobody is asking Eddie for dating advice, since the man only married his girlfriend bc she was pregnant and then had to be told (BY BUCK) that he deserved to be happy in a relationship instead of sticking it out for everyone else.
Anyway, this has been on my mind ever since that interview came out with everyone making fun of Eddie for going to Buck because he's had (based on what we're reading about Natalia's character) 4 "failed" relationships, but again, I truly believe that a relationship ending does not automatically mean it failed.
Also, Eddie goes to Buck because they're CO-PARENTS & SOULMATES but all of this other stuff too 😂

I was just doodling in one while the other was gonna start the Moral Orel one. I was having a hard time with Shapey and Bloberta's eyes, especially Shapey's. But I settled for this. Basically a mixture of both Blob's eyes and Stopframe's eyes (I hope, it's been a while since I've drawn this so I don't remember my thought process).

👶🏻 tba title (age gap buddie fic -like real age gap)
“I’m okay, Mister Diaz,” Buck assured him, “everyone here is so nice. They like me.” The statement was concerning enough but it was the last three words that had Eddie concerned. Buck had whispered as if he were praying in church like there was some big secret or miracle surrounding people tolerating him. Eddie had seen enough of Buck’s teen years to know that the kid had some issues. The Buckleys were perhaps the only family that had Ramon Diaz beat on the lack of emotions when it came to parenting. Eddie had been dragged to football games so his son could watch Buck play, he’d gone to the choir concerts the year Buck and Chris took choir to get their fine art credit for graduation, he’d had his Abuela bake multiple birthday cakes through the years all because Buck didn’t have anyone else. Like a duckling, the boy had imprinted onto Chris and eventually Eddie had come to expect the two of them to be together. “Plenty of people like you, Buck,” Eddie reminded him. “Let me take you home.” The words themselves didn’t make him think anything. It was a perfectly innocent offer and Eddie had no reason to question it –until the man Buck had abandoned gave him a look. Eddie didn’t feel particularly good at reading people's expressions but he did know jealousy. The fact that the man seemed to think Eddie would usher Buck away from him just to take advantage himself boiled and bubbled a white-hot rage in Eddie’s chest. He would never have let some young, pretty thing sit on his lap in the middle of a bar, especially when it was clear that they were drunk. Unlike unnamed men in bars, Eddie had some class.

Eddie never called.
He couldn’t possibly be that old and forgetful.
Before parting ways, the 39 year old promised he’d let you know when he got home safely. So you stayed up all night waiting for a text, a call. And while it was evident he did make it back (he was playing games with your dad all night a couple days later), you couldn’t help but feel forgotten about.
Also, it’s West Memphis. What’s so interesting about the boonies that made Eddie forget about you so easily?
But now classes are back in session and Eddie, too, was becoming easy to forget. Easy to forget, that is, until conversations about your father’s annual Labor Day Weekend barbecue comes up.
"Eddie will be there, you remember him right?"
DO you?
Your thighs clench in place as you attempt to tame your excitement. Suddenly, your upper divisions are being ignored and you’re searching your closet for the shortest of short shorts to wear.
“Try forgetting about me NOW, Eddie,” you think to yourself.
Tumblr media
LABOR DAY WEEKEND
You just about checked your appearance a billion times in the mirror before making your way downstairs.
This afternoon you’re dressed in skin-tight denim shorts and a light top with puffy sleeves.
Your eye makeup? Specifically designed for destruction. And your lips? Cheeks? Both the same innocent, peachy pink. It’s sure to drive Eddie insane.
You could hardly contain your excitement. The thought of your fantasies being fulfilled within the next couple of days has you in tumultuous heat.
Being bent over the kitchen counter. Folded up atop the wash. Getting railed to bits in the guest room in the middle of the night while the TV drowns out your pretty little noises. But most of all, you couldn’t wait to be with Eddie. There was so much to talk to him about since he left.
After one last pep talk, you down your water like it’s a shot before going over to greet everyone.
———
When you get to the backyard, you offer the sea of guests polite smiles and pleasantries. Your dad is at the grill, doing what he does best with a big smile on his face. When you scoot past him, you see Lucas Sinclair and his wife, Maxine. You nod to Dustin Henderson. And Steve Harrington, the business guy.
Then you see him.
But it is to your absolute shock — and horror — that he happens to be manspread atop a lawn chair, laughing into the crook of a random woman's neck as she's perched on his lap.
Well this is awkward.
You watch as they laugh like teenagers in love, the woman leaning into Eddie the closer he reels her in. You watch him call her his "baby", as she runs her delicate fingers through his wavy brown hair. His cheeks turn a flattered rose when she kisses his nose with hers. But when his gaze drifts from her to you, it’s shifts to a different kind of red. An "oh shit" kind of red. An "I'm caught" kind of red. You swallow hard.
It's no wonder anymore why Eddie didn’t call. He found someone new.
"Sunshine!" your dad calls you over. "You know my buddies, Gareth and Grant. Mike, Will, and Jonathan?”
“Yes!” you attempt to remain collected, giving all the guys a gracious smile hello. “Hi, nice to see you again.”
When you make your way over to Eddie, you notice that he begins to sulk into his seat, avoiding any form of eye contact with you.
“And of course you know Eddie.”
Your dad’s best friend gives you a tight-lipped smile.
“How ya doing, sweetheart?”
“Long time no see…” is all you can say.
“And this is his girlfriend of three years, Sophie."
Your stomach is in knots now. THREE YEARS?!
Suddenly, your gaze goes from surprised to angry. Horrified. Nauseated.
Sophie wasn’t the other woman. It was you.
Meanwhile Eddie doesn’t seem to have a guilty bone in his body. When your eyes finally meet, you see that his are dark, piercing into you with such an intensity that you nearly stumble backwards.
"Aww Jeff," Sophie pouts. "Your daughter is so cute!"
"Isn't she?" Eddie coos.
It’s hard for you to comprehend anything, so you go mute shortly after the interaction. And for a while, you linger, as to not appear suspicious or upset. In the meantime, Eddie watches you while you talk to the other guests and help yourself to a couple pieces of fruit, curious as to why and how you haven’t caused a scene yet.
But you’re about to if you stay any longer.
Storming into the house now, you tilt your chin upwards to stop the inevitable down-flow of waterworks. And it’s when you think you’re all alone that a pair of gruff hands grab you by the wrists, shifting your back promptly against the wall.
Your breath hitches in response, as anyone's would if their body was being refrained by a tall, husky, and intoxicated silhouette.
"The nerve you have wearing those shorts around me," he breathes onto you.
You shove him back aggressively.
"Fuck off, Eddie," you spit. "You have a girlfriend?! You had one this whole time?!"
"Hey now—”
"After everything, you couldn’t even bother to tell me you’re already spoken for? Really?!" your voice is at an aggressive whisper now.
"I never said I was perfect."
"Clearly you aren't."
Eddie backs away for a second to let your anger simmer, his resigned hands creating a fair amount of distance between you two. But seeing you all angry and frazzled made his cock twitch, the only thing stopping him from fucking some forgiveness out of you being the thought of people standing right outside.
"I waited for you to call, Eddie. And you forgot all about me."
"Wanna make me remember then?"
You feel his erection through his strained denim jeans as Eddie tauntingly rubs himself against you.
"Make me remember how good I fucked you that one night?" he questions you rhetorically. "How pretty those moans sounded getting drowned out by my pillow? How you begged me to rail you dumb while you came hard all over my cock?"
Your lip quivers as his hot breath tickles your neck. You bite down in attempts to make it less obvious.
"How I corrupted Daddy's Little Girl?” he cockily adds.
"Ha!" you manage to scoff at him. "You really think you turned me, huh? You cannot be more wrong, Eddie. You haven't influenced me a bit.”
"Then what's all this about?"
He motions towards your outfit.
The taunting lace frills. The scant length with no built-in spandex underneath. Your outfit sculpted your body so nice, in every possible way. And as much as you tried to convince yourself otherwise, you did do all of it for Eddie. And his influence is very prominent. Your face flushes red as Eddie searches for your gaze.
"Not foolin' anybody, darling," your dad’s friend issues you a sinister smirk. "Like I said before, I used to be your age."
“I can’t even look at you right now.” you mutter.
“You don’t have to.”
He grabs your hand and you let him, tracing the outline of his stiff cock as he grunts against you.
“In fact,” Eddie says as he shakes his head. “…you don’t have to speak at all. Would be hard for you to anyways with me in your mouth.”
Your breathing quickens the closer Eddie gets, and you find it impossible to pull away when he starts kissing down your neck — his breaths hot — the way his soft lips suction against your temple... even hotter — and the spearmint that danced with the nic at the back of his throat, expelling a shaky hum out of you that you tirelessly fought to keep inside.
"Eddie," you whimper. "I'm yours."
Eddie issues you a rough smack across your ass.
"I know that. On your knees."
There was no going back now. Before you know it, your knees meet the cold wooden floor, face practically already buried at the base of Eddie’s crotch before he could even strip himself down.
You sit patiently while Eddie grabs a chair, sitting down and teasingly palming himself while he lines himself up with you. You hungrily watch as he slides his jeans down, stroking his incredible length and girth a few times, before slapping the head of his leaking cock against the matching gloss of your lips.
"Missed it?"
You crumble.
"So much," you pout.
Eddie motions you forward and you place your lips on his throbbing head, sucking him in place before spiraling your tongue seductively down his shaft.
“Fuuuck,” he whispers. “There she is. There’s my girl.”
His praise causes you to melt into him, clinging to his waist and taking him deep as he holds you in place, the back of your head fitting his calloused palm like a glove.
“Mmhmm??” Eddie grunts as he studies every fervid bob of your head. “Mmhmm?? — Ohhh, fuck. Good girl.” He moves your hair out of the way. “That’s a good girl.”
Eddie cranes his neck towards the door leading outside, keeping watch of anybody who might be coming in.
But even when on the lookout, Eddie continues to mindfully thrust, slowly when people near but compensating with direct blows the moment they walk away.
Fucking hell.
He's a challenge in every possible way. Your tear-strung eyes trail up at Eddie as he watches you suck, slouching in his seat…rolling his hips… thrusting into your gaping mouth slightly past the point of resistance. And you were being so brave, that is until he unexpectedly plunges himself into you, causing you to gag and push hard against his warm thighs to catch your breath.
"Need some air, baby?"
"I—” you cough. “I — hate you.”
You spit back down onto his throbbing cock, showcasing to Eddie his salty string of pre-cum as he strokes your temple in consolation.
"I’m sure you do..." Eddie chuckles, offering you a menacing, adulterous pout in return. “I’m sure you fucking do.”
He knees the base of your core lightly and you immediately, obediently fold your hands behind your back. With his available hand, Eddie grazes your ass, venturing his fingers around your wet slit causing you to moan as your throat is jabbed repeatedly.
Eddie goes just far enough to hear more of your angelic, reactive gags. Pleasure-saturated tears roll uncontrollably down your cheeks. Amused, Eddie shakes his head as you desperately gargle him dry, his arousal spewing recklessly against your palate.
"She hates Eddie, she hates Eddie,” it’s almost like he’s singing it. Eddie chants sarcastically as he watches your makeup run out of pure lust. "Bet that filthy mouth LOVES him though, doesn't it, sweetheart?"
You nod again. Without the slightest bit of mercy, Eddie is practically ramming into you now. But you’re beyond the point of caring. You want him to obliterate you. More than he already has.
You knew better. But your dad’s best friend knew better than you.
“That filthy mouth loves how Eddie tastes?” he quips again as you nod up at him bitterly. “Hm?”
And as he finishes inside your mouth, salty seed soothing the back of your bruised throat, Eddie grabs you by the jaw to lock you in place. The twisted fucker wants you to savor every drop of his load, his ego oozing into you while his thick groans pollute the kitchen air. And when he finds the courage to finally look you in the eyes, your gaze pierces into him as you swallow him down.
And just as menacingly, Eddie grins down at you. You bat your lashes innocently as he gives your hollowed cheek a few delicate smacks with his large palm, followed by adorn praises for swallowing every drop he issued you.
“My pretty baby,” Eddie fawns, as his stiff cock finally grows flaccid. He grabs your chin to give it a sloppy kiss, and your eyes follow intently as he wipes the corner of your mouth with his thumb. He licks the evidence off with his teasing tongue. “You gonna be my pretty lil baby on the low?”
“As long as you don’t forget to call this time,” you issue a playful frown.
“Don’t worry darlin’,” Eddie assures you. “After what you just did to me right now, I’m never leaving you alone.”
When you both finish cleaning up, Eddie follows your lead as you two head outside. He goes back towards his friends at one corner of the backyard while you walk over to the nearest cooler for a popsicle. And as the party draws on, you two mingle around, talk, and party with all the others... as if nothing happened.
And even though you're able to play it off like it's no big deal, Eddie's words were all you could think about for the rest of the day.
“You gonna be my pretty lil baby on the low?”
Crying over spilled milk is almost never worth it. Sometimes it’s best swallowed with your pride.

In my honest opinion...
I truly don't see Chris staying in Texas past the summer, let alone start the new school year there. This isn't even me being a Buclkey-Dia family truther or me being on my anti-Diaz parents vendetta, but just because...
...it's Texas.

Steddie Notes Part 7
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6)
He’s looking up at the most beautiful face in the world, all hard-planed jaw beautiful moles sensual mouth. There are bloody fingerprints on the strong chin and agony warps those sharp features. Eddie loves this face more than anything, so if this is the last thing he sees before he dies, he can’t be mad. Except, he doesn’t understand why Steve is so unhappy. He tries to open his mouth, to ask what’s wrong, what happened, but he’s engulfed in a pain so acute, so mind contorting, that everything goes black.
✏️✏️✏️✏️
He sees two men holding each other. Crying? His ears are thick, stuffed with cotton, no sound penetrating. One of them moves, his face now visible, and Eddie’s heart contracts. Uncle Wayne.
Sound rushes in at the shock of seeing his uncle. His uncle crying. He can hear them now, Wayne’s partially stifled sobs, and a cracked, rough, wavering voice saying through tears, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I tried to keep him safe. I tried—"
“Shhh, my boy, you did your best. I know you did. You brought him back, Steve.”
“But he might—The doctors say—it’s all my fault, Wayne. I did this. I didn’t keep him safe.”
Eddie wants to yell, to get their attention. Can’t stand to see the two men he loves most in the world crying when he’s right here.
✏️✏️✏️✏️
Wayne, asleep with his arms crossed over his chest, in a plastic chair. And Steve—Steve still here, still with him, still waiting for him to wake up. Steve’s left hand twines with one of Eddie’s and he’s propped up just so that he can write and hold a notebook steady at the same time. That’s briefly confusing before he recognizes that it’s a black Composition Book, one of Eddie’s own with a dragon inked in red on the front.
He allows himself to watch Steve, admire the curve of his cheek, the sharpness of his jaw, the lovely moles and freckles across his skin (the nights Eddie spent thinking about kissing each and every one of those marks). His hair is deflated, falling limply over his forehead, but he’s still so beautiful, Eddie almost can’t take it.
✏️✏️✏️✏️
This time is different. He senses it immediately, his head less fuzzy, his fingers able to twitch. He’s like awake awake. There’s a tube in his throat, which fucking sucks, sort of hurts. He wants to claw it out, but that seems extreme.
He doesn’t see Wayne, but he’s not alone, his fingers twisted into someone’s hair, the silken fine strands soft against his palm. Eddie’s eyes drift down to find Steve, head cradled on his arms against the edge of the hospital bed, snoring gently. Eddie can’t stop himself from pressing the flat of his hand into the chestnut locks.
Eddie’s touch has Steve blinking sleepy hazel right before he springs to his feet, “Eddie??” he yelps. Eddie, for his part, opens his mouth to respond, remembers the tube down his throat, and settles for waving.
“Holy shit,” Steve says. He slams the “call” button, then says, “Fuck this, be right back,” and flees into the hall.
Later, when the doctors all leave, Eddie can’t stop the tears that slip free, but Steve is there, holding his hands, crawling into the narrow bed with him to hold him close until they fall asleep, Eddie’s head on Steve’s chest.
✏️✏️✏️✏️
A week later, Eddie wakes up in an empty room. He hasn’t been alone, even once, since regaining consciousness and he has a second of panic before he hears the soft murmur of Steve’s voice from just outside the door. It’s relaxing, and Eddie’s gaze falls to the shockingly blue sky out his window.
He's lucky, he knows. He lived, the murder charges were dropped, he found a group of people to call family.
And Steve. Even if they’re just friends. It’s okay. He’s okay with that. Steve saved his life, stayed by his side, gave Eddie the most love he’s ever had. And that’s good.
He’s so locked into his thoughts he doesn’t realize that Steve’s come back into the room until there’s a Hawkins General branded notepad and pen thumping into his lap.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
“You okay?”
“Just thinking.”
“Good stuff?”
Eddie smiles as he writes. “Yeah.”
“Wanna talk about it?”
“Just that I’m lucky to have you as a friend.”
Steve’s face flushes a pretty pink and maybe Eddie takes it back, being okay with just friends.
“Best friends forever, right?”
It’s Eddie’s turn to blush. “As long as you’ll have me.”
“Forever then.”
He looks at Steve, then, at the flush of his face and the brightness of his eyes and wishes.
“Eds.”
“Yeah?”
“You’re staring.”
“Sorry.”
“No, I like it.”
“Steve,” he whispers. His heart’s going a mile a minute and Steve is looking at him, gazing at him, his whole fucking heart in those hazel eyes.
“I have something for you,” Steve says. It’s careful, like he’s afraid Eddie will spook. He pulls a crumpled sheet of paper from his jacket pocket, smoothing it out, handing it over.
Eddie looks at the note.
“You ever been in love?” it says.
“No, but I think I’m falling,” is the answer
“I love you, Eddie,” is the follow-up. It’s accompanied by an atrocious sketch of a sailor boy and a rockstar holding hands, little asymmetrical valentine’s hearts between them.
Eddie can’t help it, he laughs even as tears fill his eyes. His heart is all twisted up, his mind reeling. This can’t be real. How can this be real.
“Eds?” Steve asks. He’s nervous now, breathy, and oh, he really meant it.
Steve Harrington is in love with Eddie Munson.
Jesus Christ.
“Stevie?” Eddie can’t quite get air into his lungs; he’s so overwhelmed with fondness. “Baby, I love you so much.”
Steve’s crying now. “I’m sorry it took me so long,” he writes.
“You took as much time as you needed, considering I thought you were straight.”
“Me too. Until you.”
“Come here?” Eddie shifts as far over in the hospital bed as he can. He has to have Steve close, has to touch him, has to make sure this is actually happening.
Steve climbs up, gentle in a way that only Steve Harrington can be, and Eddie curls into him, holding the man he loves as tight as he can.
“Can I say that I’m sorry?” Steve asks, mouth against Eddie’s ear.
“Again? I don’t think you have anything else to apologize for.”
“Kissing you that night.”
Eddie raises an eyebrow and Steve seems to catch the misstep, quickly says. “Oh, shit. No, I’m not sorry for the kiss, but for when it happened. You were upset and I thought it might help?”
Eddie giggles, can’t stop it, but cups a hand around the contours of Steve’s cheek.
“It did help. But mayyybe the circumstances weren’t the best.”
“That’s why I’m sorry.” His eyes flick to Eddie’s mouth. “You think I can make up for it now?”
“Please,” Eddie answers, can hardly get the words out, too shocked at how this is his life; that the boy he loves, loves him back.
One of Steve’s hands winds into the hair at the back of Eddie’s skull, and then they’re kissing, soft and slow, and he can’t think of anything aside from Steve Harrington’s gentle chapped lips and the stubble on his jaw and the way his mouth feels around Eddie’s tongue.
They pull apart after a couple of minutes, Eddie already feeling the strain on his battered body. Their foreheads rest against each other, still sharing air.
“I love you,” Eddie whispers.
“Love you more than anything, Eds,” Steve answers, his hold on Eddie tightening, like he'll never, ever let go.
✏️✏️✏️✏️
On a napkin from the Hideout, imprinted with the ring of a glass and half-formed song lyrics:
“What if we owned this place, Stevie? I’ve got ideas.”
“You want to?”
“Been thinking about it. As much as I’m shocked to admit it, we could have a life here. A good one, I think.”
“Whatever you want, babylove. Whatever makes you happy. You know I’ll go wherever you are.”
“Even if we stay in shitty old Hawkins?”
“Even then. Best friends forever, yeah?”
“God, you’re a dork, Harrington”
“The dork you’ve been in love with for three years.”
“I’m having second thoughts.”
“Like hell you are. You’re obsessed with me.”
It ends with a cheeky little sketch of a devil.
On a Hawkins Middle paystub for guidance counselor Steve Harrington:
“Wanna do the one-shot with us when the kids are home for Christmas?”
“Sure”
--
“What?”
“Sure. Sure says Steve Harrington like it’s nothing, like I haven’t asked you to play almost every week for YEARS.”
“Calm down, Munson. Let’s just say you wore me down.”
“I can’t believe you.”
“Paladin, do you think?”
“Are you doing this on purpose?”
“Hmm, what race, though? I want to be something cool.”
“Steve.”
“Huh?”
“Take your fucking clothes off right fucking now”
On a wedding invitation addressed to Steve and Eddie (return address Max Mayfield and Lucas Sinclair):
“Why didn’t you get more milk???”
“Oops, sorry, Stevie. Forgot”
“Well???’
“Oh, you want me to go now. Okay. Back soon.”
“Love you, Eds”
“Love you more, Stevie.”
On scattered bits of paper and detritus across the Munson household:
“Love you, baby”
“Love you more”
“Love you most”
“You’re everything, Munson.”
“Kiss me”
“Always”
“You’re beautiful, Steve Harrington. Can’t believe I get to have this.”
“Love you”
“Love you more”

I Wanna Be Yours - Part Two
Part One Here Part Three Here
It had been a couple of weeks since you had confessed your feelings about Eddie to Robin and you had shoved the thoughts to the back of your mind yet again. Steve and Robin had asked both you and Eddie to come out with the two of them, like old times. This was something that almost rarely happened since Halle was born. It would usually result in just one of you going out while the other stayed home with the girl. Eddie really didn’t like leaving her at all if he could help it and you couldn’t blame him, you wanted to spend a good chunk of your time with her as well. Steve and Robin had worn Eddie and you both down together, convincing you to let Nancy to watch Halle overnight. Nancy and Johnathan had their own daughter who was right around Halle’s age, but just a little bit younger.
It was going to be Halle’s first night staying at someone other than Wayne’s house without her dad. Eddie had hesitantly agreed to the night out with his group of friends. When you all got to the hideout later that evening, the first thing he did was call Nancy and Johnathan’s to check in on her. Nancy has assured Eddie that Halle was doing great. Her and Emma were both fast asleep by now. Once he got off of the phone and handed it back to the bartender, he sat at the table with his small group of friends.
“How’s Halle?,” You ask as he sits down.
“She’s good. She’s asleep for the night so I think we’ll be okay,” He responds.
“See man, everything is under control. Relax, have a few drinks,” Steve said and handed Eddie a shot. It wasn’t that Eddie didn’t drink anymore, he liked to come home from his shift at the plant on Friday’s and have a few beers after Halle was asleep in her bed, but he hadn’t been out and gone drinking with his friends in what felt like years. Eddie took the shot Steve handed him and tried to cut loose a little bit. He was happy that you were here with him and knowing that he wasn’t the only one wanting to know the wellbeing of his daughter. He really appreciated that you cared so much for his daughter. You all take a few more shots and Eddie notices that you’re anxiously checking the time on your watch every 15 minutes or so.
“Guys c’mon, you’re in your 20’s, act like it!,” Robin said passing out more shots. You knew in the back of your head that she was right. You had taken about 3 shots at this point and started to feel the alcohol warming your body. Most other 23 year olds you knew would be out partying like this most nights of the week. Even most 25 year olds you knew were still in that phase of your life. So you knew that you and Eddie acting like you were a couple of 50 year olds was completely abnormal for your age range. A band comes on stage and Eddie glances up to see a group of guys that were probably in their early twenties starting a set.
As he watched the band play, he thought back to his own days of being in their position. He missed those days from time to time. The more those thoughts flooded his mind, the more he realized that he did deserve to have a single night of partying like the old days. The more shots Robin, the more she cheered for the band on the stage, and you couldn’t help but laugh at her when she did. Since it was a Saturday night, there were more people than normal at the Hideout, but there still wasn’t a great big crowd. Robin was really standing out amongst the crowd. She grabbed your hand and pulled you up with her to dance along to the catchy rock song that band was playing and started cheering for them even more. You laughed and felt yourself relaxing as you danced along with Robin.
“Can’t believe that that was you up there not long ago, huh?,” Steve asked Eddie and they both chuckled.
“Yeah man, it’s crazy how fast time is going by. I don’t get to play my guitar as much as I would like to anymore. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade Halle for anything in the world, but it would be nice to have some time to pick up my old hobby again and maybe even play a gig again,” Eddie responded.
“Hey man, there’s nothing wrong with that. You don’t have to justify missing a time before your kid. You do so much for her and you deserve to have some you time,” Steve says and Eddie just nods in agreement.
“Speaking of you time, have you been talking to anyone lately?,” Steve asks Eddie. Steve seemed to be very interested in Eddie’s love life lately and he couldn’t figure out why.
“Nah, man, I don’t have time for dating,” He said, subconsciously looking over at you dancing along to the music. Steve follows his gaze and smirks.
“Uh huh, sure,” He says and chuckles. Eddie looks back at Steve and furrows his brows.
“What does that mean?,” Eddie asks.
“I just mean that maybe you’re basically in a relationship and don’t realize it,” Steve says, taking a swig of his drink.
“I am not in a relationship,” Eddie says defensively.
“Eddie, I have never had someone look at me the way you look at Y/N,” Steve states.
“I don’t look at her in a certain way. She’s my best friend and the godmother to my daughter,” Eddie responds.
“She’s basically your wife, Ed. You’re living in ignorant domestic bliss. That’s why you’re not interested in dating,” Steve chuckles again and Eddie scoffs.
“She is not my wife man,” Eddie replies.
“Okay, then tell me you’re not in love with her,” Steve says.
“I love her because she’s my best friend and has been for years,” Eddie says, not meeting Steves eyes, but not admitting his true feelings.
“Uh huh, that’s just a fancy way of saying you’re in love with her. Those almost sound like wedding vows,” Steve teases Eddie. Eddie rolls his eyes.
“Hey guys, the band invited Y/N and I over for a drink to their table. We’ll be right back,” Robin says taking another shot and grabbing your hand and dragging you over to the bands table. Eddie’s eyes wander over to you as you sit down at the table next to one of the band members. He watches as he put his arms around your shoulders and orders drinks for the table and Eddie scoffs again.
“Ooh, someone’s jealous. Gonna be hard hiding those feelings now lover boy,” Steve teases Eddie again. Eddie looks at Steve with an annoyed face.
“Why are you suddenly so interested in my love life anyways?,” Eddie asks him.
“Well, before you know it, Halle will be starting school, giving you some more free time. I just think it would be easier if you realized now that you had the girl of your dreams literally living with you and helping you raise your kid before you started trying to get back out on the dating scene,” Steve responds.
“Well thank you very much for you concern Harrington, but I’m a big boy and I can handle myself,” Eddie says, looking over at you again. You meet his eyes for a second and make a fake disgusted face at him without anyone else seeing to signal that the guy with his arm around you was getting on your nerves and he chuckled.
“Case in point. You two can literally communicate without communicating. You’re so in love with each other and oblivious its disgusting,” Steve says.
“Wait, at first you assumed that I was in love with her, now you’re assuming that she’s also in love with me?,” Eddie asks looking at Steve again.
“Takes two people to make a marriage work Eddie,” Steve says and Eddie rolls his eyes yet again ,” Your eyes are gonna get stuck like that.”
“You sound like me scolding my 4 year old,” Eddie says.
“Well she had to learn that little move from someone,” Steve responds and Eddie glares at him.
“Can we just have a fun night man?,” Eddie says taking another shot.
“Sure Ed, I’ll drop it for now,” Steve says taking a drink of his coca-cola. You and Robin come back over to the table and you give Eddie a look as you sit back down beside him.
“That guy was getting on your nerves?,” Eddie chuckles.
“More than you know. ‘Oh I’m just so good at guitar man. I’m like a prodigy, at least that’s what my mommy tells me before she tucks me in at night’,” You mock the guy who was flirting with you a few moments ago and your friends all laugh ,” I’ve never met anyone with a bigger ego.”
“Hey there was always Steve a few years ago,” Eddie laughs and it was Steves turn to roll his eyes.
“Careful, they’re gonna get stuck like that Stevie,” You say and laugh and Steve gives Eddie a look to which Eddie laughs a little harder. You all hang out at the hideout for a little longer before Steve decides to take you all to the local diner to get some food in you. He only had one drink at the beginning of the night so he could DD for everyone. You pull into the diner and make your way inside. You side on one side of the booth with Eddie while Robin and Steve sit on the other side. You all order some food and make some small talk as you wait for it to come. You are looking out the window when Eddie gently nudges you.
“Are you okay?,” He asks looking concerned.
“Do you think Halle’s sleeping through the night? She took her stuffed bunny with her right?,” You ask looking at him and he wanted to kiss you right there.
“Yeah she took it with her. I think she’ll be alright. It’s already 2am so were halfway there until she comes home anyway,” Eddie says smiling at you and rubbing his hand over your arm. You rest your head on his shoulder and sigh in relief.
“You’re right, she usually sleeps like a rock after midnight anyways,” You say and yawn yourself. Your food is finally brought to the table and you start eating your fries. The longer you sit in the diner, the more tired you get. This is the latest you have stayed up in a long time. Once you are all finished eating, Steve drops you and Eddie off at your apartment. You make your way inside and collapse on the couch.
“I’m never going out with them again,” You say as you lay your head on arm of the couch,” How can they stay out so late.”
“I am right with you there,” Eddie replies, lifting your feet and sitting down so they’re now propped on his lap. He thinks back to what Steve said to him earlier in the night about you two practically being a married couple and he couldn’t help but start to notice it a little bit himself as his hands rested on your shins and gently stroked them. Steve and Robin would never sit like this. He looked up at you and saw that you were drifting to sleep and pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind.
“Alright, c’mon sweetheart, time for bed,” He said, gently nudging you awake. You begrudgingly sit up and let Eddie grab your hand to help you off the couch. You both walk down the hallway and divide into your separate bedrooms.
“Goodnight sweetheart,” He says.
“Goodnight Eds,” You say yawning shutting your bedroom door behind you. You lay in your bed and drift off to sleep after changing into some comfortable clothes.
————————————————————
“Be gentle baby.”
You are woken up the next morning by soft giggling and someone playing with your hair. You open your eyes and the first thing you see is Halle and you bring her into a sleepy hug. You open your eyes and see Eddie standing beside your bed.
“She couldn’t wait until you woke up,” He says apologetically.
“It’s okay, I wanted to come with you to get her,” You say, disappointed you didn’t get to see her sooner.
“You were snoring pretty loud so I figured I’d let you sleep in,” He says and chuckles, sitting down on the edge of your bed. You open your mouth dramatically in offense.
“I do not snore”
“Oh you so do,” Eddie responds laughing.
“Hals, do you hear the mean words your dad is saying to me?,” You ask looking at the girl.
“You snored loud,” Halle says matter-o-factly.
“Betrayal!,” You tease and tickle Halles neck. She giggles loudly and you smile widely at her.
“How about you two get ready and I take you out for brunch,” Eddie says looking at you and Halle.
“What’s wrong with how I look now Munson?,” You ask jokingly looking up at him. You know you look like a mess with your makeup from last night still on and in your mismatched clothes as you sleepily pulled out of your dresser the night before.
“You don’t match and you got spots on your face,” Halle says looking at you.
“Baby that wasn’t very nice,” Eddie says and tries to hide a laugh.
“Wow, if you ever need to be humbled, just talk to a 4 year old. But the child speaks the truth,” You say laughing. You get out of bed and make your way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. You put on your best pair of sweatpants and a band t-shirt with your converse and put your hair up in a bun. You walk out of the bathroom after brushing your teeth and make your way out to the living room.
“This is as best as you’re getting today,” You say to Eddie.
“Hey you look good enough to me,” Eddie says, wearing a very similar outfit. You notice Halle is also dressed in sweatpants and a mini band t-shirt, except the outfit is paired with her rainbow sneakers.
“She wouldn’t let me put her in any other shoes,” Eddie says chuckling when he notices that you’re looking at her outfit.
“She looks great!,” You say smiling at Halle. The three of you make your way to the diner you were at the night before and order some food. It is technically yours and Eddie’s breakfast, but Halle’s lunch. The waitress comes over and sets down your drinks.
“You three are just the cutest little family. It’s adorable that you’re all matching,” She says and walks away before you can respond. This happened quite often where people assumed you were Halle’s mom. It made your heart soar but it was always a little bit awkward. Your food finally arrived shortly after and you started eating.
“Are you my mom?,” Halle asks as you take a bite of your omelette and it takes everything in you not to choke on it.
“She’s your godmom baby,” Eddie responds.
“Yeah but Nancy has her new baby in her tummy and Emma called her mommy. Was I in your tummy?,” Halle asks you and you feel like your heart could break into a million pieces. You were in shock and thankfully Eddie comes to your rescue.
“You weren’t in her tummy baby. You were in someone else’s tummy. We were just lucky enough that Y/N and daddy were friends before you were born and so she’s been here your whole life. I asked her to be your godmother when you were born and she said yes and she’s loved you ever since. ,” Eddie says. You both knew that she would have these questions someday, but you never thought they would come about while she was still so young.
“Am I supposed to call you mommy?,” Halle asks.
“No baby, you can just call me Y/N,” You respond to her. You would love nothing more than to be her real mom. If she ever did call you mommy, you would probably die from excitement. Halle still has a small look of curiosity on her face but she accepts your answers and continues eating her chicken tenders. You meet Eddie’s gaze and he looks at you apologetically. You give him a small smile as if to signal that it is okay and that he has nothing to worry about. After you finish eating, Eddie drives the three of you home.
You do your Sunday tasks as you always do. You’re folding your laundry when the house phone rings and you get up to answer it.
“Hello?,” You ask.
“Hey Y/N, its Wayne. I was just calling to see if you three were still coming over for dinner tonight?,” Wayne asks over the phone.
“Yeah Wayne we are. 5 still a good time?,” You respond.
“Sounds good honey, what did you want for dinner tonight?,” He asks you.
“How about we stop by and grab some pizza on our way over tonight? You either bought or made us dinner the last couple of weeks,” You respond.
“Alright if you insist,” Wayne chuckles.
“Pizza it is,” You respond.
“I’ll see you three later. Give Halle all my love,” He says.
“Will do, see ya later. Bye,” You respond hanging up.
“Who was that?,” Eddie asks.
“Wayne. We’re bringing pizza over for dinner tonight at 5,” You say looking at him.
“Grandpa?,” Halle asks excitedly.
“Yeah and I almost forgot, he told me to give you something,” You say crouching down to be on her level.
“What?,” She asks with a smile. You wrap her up in your arms and press kisses to her cheeks and she laughs gleefully. You pull away and look at her.
“He told me to give you all his love,” you say looking at Halle.
“What am I? Chopped liver? He didn’t want to split his love with me?,” Eddie asks dramatically and laughs.
“Hey, I’m just following his orders,” You shrug your shoulders at Eddie.
“I will so be bringing this up to him tonight,” Eddie says jokingly. You finish up your weekly chores and before you know it, you’re heading out the door to go to Waynes house. You drive the three of you there and stop to grab some pizza along the way. You arrive at Wayne’s and Halle runs in as fast as she can.
“Grandpa!! I got your love from Y/N!,” She says as she hugs Waynes legs.
“Did you? I’m so happy,” Wayne says and hugs the girl back. She runs and plops down on his living room floor and starts playing with a few of her toys that stay here.
“Yeah, what’s with you giving all your love to Halle and not splitting it with me?,” Eddie jokes as he hugs Wayne.
“Wouldn’t you just love an excuse to have a pretty girl kiss you,” Wayne says quietly to Eddie and pulls away from the hug to see Eddie’s face flush. You walk in the door with the pizza in your hands.
“Hey honey how are you?,” Wayne asks, setting the pizza on the counter and bringing you into a hug.
“Hey Wayne. I’ve been good! How have you been?,” You ask.
“I’ve been good honey thanks for asking,” He responds. The four of you sit and start eating pizza together.
“Y/N, are you still seeing that young man you told me about?,” Wayne asks you.
“Oh no, not anymore. I just figured it would be better if I stay single and focus on myself for a while,” You respond taking a bite of your pizza.
“Atta girl. You’re young and you’ll have plenty of time to find someone,” Wayne says. He shoot’s a side look over to Eddie. He, too, has recently being teasing his nephew about having feelings for you. Eddie shoots a look back to Wayne and continues eating his pizza. You all spend the evening with Wayne and finally head home when its around Halle’s bedtime. You arrive back at your apartment and help get Halle ready for bed. She insists that you cuddle with her for a little bit first. You oblige happily and think back to when she asked if you were her mommy this morning and you desperately wished you would have been able to tell her yes as she fell asleep in your arms. You make your way to your own bed and lay down for the night thinking of the good weekend you had and how you wish it didn’t have to end.
