Little rant about live action remakes, specifically HTTYD
Okay, so sometimes when I am reminded that HTTYD is getting a live action remake, it kinda makes my stomach hurt. Why? Let me tell you.
I watched HTTYD as a kid and kinda forgot about it, but in 2020, when the world was falling apart, I turned to it and fell in love. Like obsessed. I hyper-fixated on it for months. I watched all three movies, the short films, RTTE, and a few episodes of DoB that I could find for free lol. I read the fanfics and have obsessed over fan-art (seriously guys, whoever is talented enough to draw, keep it up! I love y'alls fan-art so much!!) I listened to John Powell's music while I completed my online homework, it felt so stable to me. The characters, the music, the beauty of the animation, it was comforting. Especially during such an awful time.
When I heard that there was a live-action film in the works, it literally made me sick. I refuse to watch the D*sney remakes because they're all soulless cash-grabs. But, I also admit that I have never been as attached to any of the Mouse movies as much as I have been with HTTYD. One of my friends asked me why I am not happy with this because he knows I love the series. So here is my little rant and reasons as to why I am dreading this so much.
1) Did the fans ask for this?? No. It's not as simple as, "just don't watch it". When this movie inevitably makes a ton of new changes (like all live action remakes) those changes will become actual canon. Whatever changes are made will affect what we know about the world of Berk and the characters of it. We as a fandom, have done a pretty good job of appreciating these characters for who they are and the story for what it is and growing it through some pretty great head cannons. Well, guess what, that could all change. Whoopie doo!
2) The degradation of Animation. Animation is an art form. Not a genre. It is a medium. Yet, time and time again it is presented as something childish and something that cannot be taken seriously. (I've recently had an argument with my friend because he thinks he's much too mature to watch animated movies). Each and every-time an animated movie is remade, it is a slap to the face of every animator who worked their butts off to make it as beautiful as possible. And in an effort to make the remakes more realistic, they are often washed out and use bland colors. Can you imagine the unholy offspring we'll get with Toothless and the other dragons when they are made "realistic"??
Let's appreciate scenes like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this
Tumblr media
or this
Tumblr media
also, can't forget about the hidden world,
Tumblr media
these scenes are GORGEOUS. They are not realistic, why should they be?? This is a series about dragons, not taxes, it doesn't have to be realistic. The colors, the textures, every element works together, beautifully.
Some honorable mentions: the scene in HTTYD 2, when Stoick is walking into the blacksmith shop,,, the way the light shines on him as he walks... ugghh BEAUTIFUL
the sand on the beach in THW when Toothless is drawing a picture of the Light Fury, I swear that sand is real. The animators went HARD and for what?? for the company to come in only a few short years later and decide that it is too unrealistic or not valid enough as an art form?? i'd be pretty upset.
3) This will cause unnecessary trends on social media. (This is specifically a rant that stems from my own lack of confidence, sorry in advance) Look, I hate to say it, but I naturally gatekeep stuff. I like to feel unique and like my interests are my own, so it pains me when the internet will find something niche that I love and ruin it with unnecessary trends. For example, I love Avatar, (yes... the "blue one" :/). So for years, the fandom was kinda controlled, I appreciated the artwork and content from real fans and honestly I liked when nobody even really knew the Avatar fandom was still going strong. But, with the release of The Way of Water, all of a sudden, everyone on TikTok and Instagram became the biggest fans ever or at least pretended to be. One of my friends is an aspiring makeup artist and she did the Na'vi look despite never having seen either movie. All of a sudden, this special thing I was interested in, blew up. That is what is going to happen to this fandom at least for a while. I won't be able to find real fans because everyone will just post all kinds of things and create new trends using John Powell's music. I'm all about getting new fans and being welcoming to actual fans. But it won't be all fans, it'll just be content creators needing to stick with the trends. People who haven't seen any of the HTTYD films since they were children are going to act like they've been waiting for this moment their entire lives. Idk, I'm kinda cynical, if you couldn't tell. I truthfully like ppl actually becoming fans and I don't want to discourage that, but I don't want to lose the real fans to the internet trends. and I am afraid that I will. At least for a few months after the release.
4) Dreamworks only really exists as a middle-finger to Disney. With Disney really sucking it up with their live actions in the past few years, and Dreamworks KILLING it with their new and exciting animated movies (Puss in Boots anyone??), I really thought they would continue trying to capitalize on honing their skills as animators. But, it makes sense that Dreamworks is trying their hand at something Disney does, but trying to make it better. I actually think Dreamworks will be better. I mean, we still got Dean DeBlois, which is a major win. Plus, in general, Dreamworks tends to take their time and create something actually good. So, I don't think the quality will be the problem, I just wish they wouldn't stoop to Disney's level.
5) We're wasting time instead of making a new work. Okay, let's say that Dreamworks HAS to create a live-action film. Create a new story. We wrapped up HTTYD with a pretty bow, now, let them sleep. Leave the story alone so you don't f- it up. Because as we all know, the more you f- around, the more you find out.
Look, as I said earlier, I don't think it will be crap quality or even a bad movie. I'm glad we get Dean DeBlois again and I really think that is going to make a huge difference. I'm not even upset by the casting of Hiccup and Astrid. I just don't want to lose one of my favorite franchises to watch it become a deflated, boring, bland reenactment that continues to be just another cash-grab. It makes me genuinely sad.
As long as the series is over, I feel like nothing can touch it. Nothing can ruin it. But, the second it is resurrected from the dead, it becomes fair play for anyone on the internet to regurgitate it and ruin the magic and now, this entire fandom is at the mercy of a few writers and one big corporation determined to one-up the competition as well as content creators looking for a new trend to get-in on.
Anyways, I love that as a fandom, we're all still here. I am proud that y'all are still making art and fanfics (keep going, pls). If we stick together, we can weather this storm. And maybe, if we all cross our fingers, we might get a decent new movie that is fun to watch and is respectful to the original material and is something us fans can approve of.

His theme is a banger and he gives you advice and helps Link out in the shrine quest and he plays really cool music. He's also a BBB, big beautiful bird. 🥰🥰
Donald Duck
we love one angry tsundere duck who will only heal you after you healed yourself
Like the regular D*sney duck but with 200% more Power of Friendship
Chocobos
You want to ride with your Chocobo into the wide world, into the sunset, after a wonderful camp meal you fall asleep under the open starry tent at the warm campfire leaning against the softest feathers of your Chocobo, you ride up on the hill with the rising sunrise, over the whole span of the world. You want to take your Chocobo's wings in your hand and dance with him across the meadows. You are both free and the world is at your feet. Nothing can take away your joy. Some chocobos can use magic, some can climb mountains, and some even have the ability to fly! The birds are mostly used for riding from a to b, but they can also be summoned to help and kick around in minor battles. If you need a certain character rather than a species, there is a Chocobo simply called Chocobo in the chocobo series. https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Chocobo_(Chocobo_series)
Staple of the Final Fantasy series as a whole, generally just silly :]

extremely funny to me that most of this is like. yeah I'm still into the same stuff as I was last week. except I watched an entire anime don't worry about it
listening (podcasts): my usual slate of podcasts this week. still enjoying the Great Gundam Project episodes on Wing, love to hear them talk about the ways in which the ending becomes thematically incoherent because I too was uhhhh not sure how to feel about the ending of Wing
the AMCA bonus episode on their Starcruiser experience was also excellent. I'm glad they're glad they went but I think it sounds kind of miserable and like I would have hated it if hypothetically I had gone to D*sney while it was open
as usual shout out to Palisade. I'm so excited for the new Kesh princess and also I love every time we see my beloved double agent poster child Elle Evensong
also, there was a new Media Club Plus this week, and I love to hear Keith (generally disinterested in fictional romance) discover that Kurapika & Leorio are in love
listening (music): still on my Three Days Grace kick. shout out to Animal I Have Become. AMV song of all time. no AMVs to rec here because once again the lack of a Fire Emblem 3 Houses anime means there's no Dimitri AMV to that song
reading: my only reading this week was my two before-bed books, Rule of Wolves and Water Outlaws. Rule of Wolves continues to be fine I guess. today I want to complain about how this is yet another example of a fantasy world that draws from real history & has societal/governmental systems based on patrilineal inheritance and the importance of passing on your position & wealth to your biological offspring that acts like homophobia magically does not exist. there's inexplicably one (1) married lesbian couple. like. as if the author forgot to incorporate queer people into the worldbuilding and then just slapped some lesbian side characters in there without thinking about what it would be like for them in that world. got some Skyrim "you the player character can get gay married but literally no one else can" energy going on
Water Outlaws, on the other hand, continues to fucking rule. there's a politician who fucking sucks, and a lady scientist being coerced into doing unethical science-magic, and also so many women who do crime & fight with so many different cool weapons
watching: forgot to talk about the Ahsoka show last week. this is because it continues to not be a very well-made television show. at time of writing, I haven't seen the finale yet
rewatched a couple more episodes of Hunter x Hunter to keep up with Media Club Plus. really solidifying my Kurapika bias this time around <3
and now for the main thing I watched this week, the entirety of Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 (for full disclosure I had previously watched the first 11ish episodes last summer before getting distracted by LoGH, and then restarted it last week to watch from the beginning with my roommate). truly it is a fucking delight to watch something that's had so much influence on so many other stories that I'm into and find out that it's also really enjoyable on its own merits as well as being extremely cool to find out where so many genre staples come from. I love the weird synth beeps in the soundtrack, I love when the animation gets super stylized and you can see the pencil shading, I love the gorgeous painted backgrounds. I was already starting to become a Cares About Mobile Suit Designs guy after GWitch/getting into gunpla but now I fully am that kind of guy because there are some incredibly fun designs in there (shout out to the Mad Angler, the coolest fucked up whale submarine I've seen in my life). I love the White Base crew and I love all the bits about how they're being exploited by the military even though they're traumatized teenagers being forced into perpetuating the horrors of war. I love when characters in Gundam just straight-up say the themes of Gundam.
ok now that I'm done gushing. I do have mixed feelings about the last ten or so episodes. (I know the pacing gets a bit wonky because the show got cancelled, that's not what I'm talking about) the thing is, is that I really want to like the Newtype stuff. I think it fucking rules that Amuro is neurodivergent in a way that's seen as useful/profitable and therefore the military is exploiting him even harder (it sucks for Amuro obviously but like, it rules for me, the guy who likes to explore that sort of theme). however. I don't think it's necessarily a great look to have some people start to develop special abilities that make them far more powerful than ordinary humans & refer to them as more advanced/the next step for humanity in the same story where the antagonists are fascists who repeatedly invoke Nietzschean ubermensch rhetoric like. it's kind of the flipside of how oppression allegories are so often deeply flawed because they give the prejudice a basis in the objective truths of the world (legitimizing the justification for the oppression by making the oppressed group dangerous in some way, i.e. the fire powers in Promare). here it's kind of a reverse of that, in that the Newtypes are framed as superhuman rather than subhuman, but that lines up with the fascist rhetoric and makes it based in the factual reality of the worldbuilding in a way that I personally am not super comfortable with. anyway.
like I am gonna watch more UC so I'm curious to see where any of this goes and I'm sure my analysis will develop as I see more but. my initial reaction is. hmm don't love that
playing: continuing to play Ace Attorney 5. 5-4 is still fun so far! however I am a little disappointed that I only got to play as Apollo for such a short time. that's my boy and I miss him already :(
making: no pictures this week but we made chicken florentine from this recipe (with added mushrooms). sorry for being basic but butter/garlic/herbs/white wine is a good flavor combo that makes your kitchen smell very good
drinking: for once something slightly less blatantly seasonal, Pumphouse's Crafty Radler (blood orange & peach flavor). which fucks. often I find peach-flavored drinks don't have enough peach because peach is kind of a more delicate flavor. this nailed it, the peach and the blood orange both come through really nicely
Tumblr media
in non-alcoholic drinks, shout out to mulled cider and also mulling spices in general. godtier spice combination
writing: most of my writing was for a zine fic so I can't talk about it yet. also I've been editing t4t yurivain but uhhhh less than I meant to because I can't edit and watch anime at the same time

Just because tw*tter has weirdos on it, I kind of feel more comfortable rambling about this topic on my own blog here.
There has been a LOT of discussion about the thing with D*sney, colorism, and L*lo&St*tch + H*waii lately.
And I'm glad to see the discussion on the table for people who are actual natives of H*waii, born and raised there no less, being able to shed light on a lot of issues that have been going on for a while. I've known at least a little bit about it for a year or so now, but some stuff I still obviously don't know because.
One, I'm disconnected from my own culture(sadly, I would like to actually know way more about it. I wish I could learn the language, but I'm someone who needs to learn in a environment that isn't a phone language app and none of my nearby family members speak the language, only ones who do are on the islands.), not because I am biracial, but because my dad was disconnected from his own culture because his mother's mother never had time to teach her kids anything since she had like fucking 13 kids to raise as a single mom. Also cause of other things that are personal family stuff I don't want to get into, basic of it is dad is an ass that further disconnected himself from his own culture and only cares about it when it comes to food and music. So, because of that, and I don't know my distant cousins very well on the Islands (I never get to go to family reunions because I'm broke, thx US g*vernment for making H*waii too expensive to go to, really love that) and my knowledge is VERY limited. I have to learn from others online.
Two, what I do know, I see gets easily buried under so many other things because the truth of the matter is. Barely anyone here on mainland cares about H*waii. It's just a fun, little tourist attraction to them and the suffering of the people, struggling to AFFORD to stay on their home land, is not important to them. Not surprised from what I've been hearing from natives that D*sney plays a shitty hand in the problem with t*urism.
Three, c*lorism really is such a big deal in a lot of places in the world, and it's shit that it's once again being painted loud and clear by H*llywood, but what else is new. I already knew this movie was not going to be a good adaptation, not because all of the ones before it were shit (they are I mean that doesn't help it lol), but because I knew modern D*sney doesn't know their own IPs very well at all. I mean, D*sney has always sucked as a company but idk I feel like they legit don't know the actual themes of L*lo&St*tch at all and how being native was a key part of the film along with the alien stuff. Just... man, I'm tired guys.
Real tired. I wish things would stick every time this conversation about the shit things happening in H*waii happen, but nothing ever really does stick that long. Just how things always go with natives of places.
Also, this is me @ all the people that were suing Ariel as an excuse for N*ni getting white washed

my thoughts on the pjo tv show (spoilers for episode 8) pt 1
i want to preface this with: I have exactly zero (0) beef with the actors themselves personally i think they all did a great job with what they were given and all gave incredible, heartfelt performances so 10/10 on that front. I acknowledge that the TV series was not made to be a shot-for-shot remake of the books, and I accept that.
also, i only watched it once through and don't really want to rewatch just to make points so i won't remember everything clearly so if i get anything wrong feel free to correct me in a polite, constructive way. that being said,
i didn't like it. shocker, i know. but hear me out.
I'm not here to diss the show or just spew a bunch of hate. I'm here to make nuanced points and arguments for both sides, but the general overall conclusion will be that, in my personal opinion that is mine alone, i didn't like it. Starting with the critiques:
In the months leading up to the show's release I'm upset to say that there was a lot of racism surrounding the casting of Leah Sara Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri, something that left me extremely disappointed in the PJO fandom as a whole. Annabeth being white has absolutely NOTHING to do with the story and it shouldn't have mattered to anybody when Leah was cast. I never pictured Grover as white in the first place, but even if I did, Aryan as Grover wouldn't have fazed me. My only concern was if the writers were going to get their characters right. (I had no concern about their acting abilities or their ability to portray the characters correctly. If Rick cast them, I have complete confidence in them as well.) As far as casting went, the only person I actually had any issue with was Lin-Manuel Miranda. It was the equivalent of seeing a d*sney channel actor on a serious show I guess? I couldn't take Hermes very seriously mainly because the whole time I was like "okay Hamilton". I'm not even a musical fan I just couldn't take him seriously. Nothing against the guy, it's just what my brain did. When it comes to casting, you have to be very careful about just how big of a name you cast. And in this case Miranda's presence just kind of stood out too much and ruined the suspension of disbelief.
Pacing. I was going to put this first as this was the main issue I had with the show, but I felt that what I had to say about the casting was more important. Every time they entered a fight, there was no sense of mystery. There was no build up to when they figured it out. There was no suspense. It was just "oh hey Medusa." and then they killed her shortly after. At first I had benefit of the doubt, and then the Crusty scene happened and I just kind of sat there like "...really?" The writers felt the need to balance "We don't need to reintroduce this, book readers will be watching!" and "New viewers who are unfamiliar with the source material will be watching, we have to reintroduce this concept" which in theory could have worked, but it always seemed to tip the wrong way at the wrong time. As a book reader, I feel as though I should not have been confused with the way the story was going, instead, the suspense in seeing exactly how they were going to portray something through TV, and how they were going to add to the story via visual format would change the storytelling. But I ended up being extremely confused in most of the scenes. I didn't see how things added up and I didn't understand most of the changes. It made the plot feel very choppy and random, like they were trying to add too much and in the process took away from an actual linear story, leaving me to watch a series of scenes rather than an even-paced flow of events.
Mischaracterization. Percy and Annabeth were really good, actually. It was very true to character and Walter Scobell and Leah Jeffries' acting really brought out the reality that they were 12. The characters felt very organic and childlike, leaving us with the hard truth that the gods sent literal children to the Underworld to retrieve the most dangerous firecracker of all time. Back to critiquing however, Grover's character felt very off. Grover is an extremely anxious 28 year old satyr who has the misfortune of having to be in middle school for the past six years. He's not timid by any means, but the way that TV!Grover interrogated Ares in the diner a) led no where, at the very least the scene felt unnecessary, b) felt extremely out of character, and c) kind of took away Grover's role as the protector of the group, as he didn't get to save Percy and Annabeth from an untimely demise from the Thrill Ride of Love. Chiron was also given a much smaller role, as he doesn't give Percy Riptide and his wise words of advice before sending him off on Half-Blood Hill. Sally. I've seen a LOT of controversy on the characterization of Sally in this series, so here's my piece. Sally Jackson is by no means someone who backs down or is submissive. She is an extremely clever woman who knows when to pick her battles. While Smelly Gabe may have just been around to mask Percy's scent, he was still a very real threat to her and Percy in their ordinary lives. I know everyone says that Sally is perfect, and I love her so much as a character and person, but we also as a fandom have to accept that there is no such thing as a perfect person. That's kind of one of the big points in the series. It shines a flashlight on the darker parts of peoples characters, to show that even the so-called "perfect" immortal gods aren't all the myths made them out to be. Percy is an unreliable narrator, meaning that he has certainly exaggerated certain parts of Sally's character because she's his mom. Some people have defended the scenes in which Sally raises her voice at Percy and gets frustrated with him with this argument. It's a valid thing for her to do! She's human! She's a single mom raising a son who has multiple learning disabilities and can't stay in the same school for more than one year. She has no living relatives and is married to an asshole! But Percy also stated that Sally never raised her voice at him, and he's never pushed her because he knows that if he does, she'll cry. They are both careful with each other. Which makes the car scene and the pool scene make so little sense. Book Percy apologized to Smelly Gabe because he knew that even if it was something he really didn't want to do, it would make his mom happy. Sally, although not stating the specific reason, actually did manage to explain in a patient way why she felt the need to send him away, which is something she continually brushed off in the show. Gabe. I've seen a lot about this as well, with some arguing that he should have been "more abusive" and others pointing out that that could be dangerous and triggering to put in a show. My take walks the middle line. Don't show Gabe's active abuse, but continue to show it passively. Instead of Percy walking to the window, have him walk into his bedroom, taken over by Gabe's stuff. "Oh, but Gabe's stuff dominated the living room!" Yeah but it was super dark and I couldn't see a thing. Plus, that's a communal space. Having it in Percy's room as well would've been a brilliant but subtle way of detailing what little respect Gabe had for both Sally's and Percy's privacy. (also what was up with the complete lack of Gabe in the last episode? I'm so confused by that-)
Dialogue, but Percy's specifically. I understand that most of Percy's funny quips are said in his head, but the "jokes" he made out loud just...weren't funny? Like the original lines from the books were, I have no idea why they didn't just take some of those. It felt like an adult trying to relate to "the youth" rather than Percy actually quipping. The other main thing I can think of off the top of my head were whenever he was speaking to a god. Ares made a little more sense because of his aura making Percy angry, but when he spoke to Zeus? Hades? Book Zeus would've smited Percy there and then. Percy at the very least starts respectful, beginning with formal titles and being as polite as possible. TV!Percy just immediately started arguing with him and it was more tense than any of the actual "battle" scenes.
The fights. Oh my gosh they were so underwhelming. Whoever green-lit the show had to know how action packed these scenes needed to be, and then blatantly ignored that fact. I understand that VFX teams are overworked and underpaid, but I also understand that the sarcastic narration and quick-paced action scenes were written to keep neurodivergent readers (hi) engaged, which made it very difficult for me to take any of the so-called "fights" seriously. In my opinion, if you can't, don't. And by that, I mean if you couldn't find the time to adequately pay a good team to do cool effects for the action heavy series, then don't make the show. (1/2)

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who reblogged something from you. Spread the positivity!
(In no particular order...)
I have a deep love for everything autumnal even though I live in SoCal where it's still in the 90's well into November. I swear I remember experiencing more of an autumn season when I was a kid, but that's climate change for you. I love daydreaming about autumn and different Halloween aesthetics. Neon green and orange plastic toys, hanging decorations, pumpkin pails. For background while I'm doing things around the house I like to throw on Youtube compilation videos of Halloween commercials and specials.
Sleeping in on the weekends. I'm naturally a night owl even if my work schedule makes me live my life otherwise. Because of this I usually stay up way too late on weekdays (I never go to bed before 1am), making the mornings unbearable sometimes. There's something so comforting about waking up on the weekend and not having anything to do or anyplace to go. You can just kinda be at your own pace.
Musical theater is a big passion of mine. The majority of the music that I listen to is cast albums. I have a hard time expressing myself sometimes and the ease that characters have in voicing what's in their heads through song and music is just... it's so good. I love how dramatic and flashy they can be. I also have a preference for songs that have a great beat and since many musical numbers are means to be danced to that fits right on in.
I love picking apart and debating topics with my friends, especially my sister. Taking a film or book and getting behind the characters and over analyzing them is such a fun exercise to me. I most often talk about Classic films, Musical Theater and specialty interests (Peter Pan and S E Hinton's The Outsiders for example), but I also like to roast the ever-loving shit out of the D*sney company. I'm a kid of the 90's, so I have some programmed nostalgia for D*sney in my brain, but I'm also aware that they are a shit company.
Little day-trips or car adventures are always a lot of fun. I don't mind spending a lot of time in a vehicle and going out and exploring new things brings me a lot of joy. I'm not super adventurous and usually have more fun on the journey than at the destination though. There have been times where I've decided to go somewhere and by the time I've arrived I nope the heck out of it and turn around to go home. I'm not very good in unknown environments and any little thing that seems sketchy can make me change my mind about being there if I'm not determined enough to stay. For instance, one time I went Downtown to go to a Japanese novelty store and when I couldn't find parking I turned around and drove home. I still enjoyed myself traveling to-and-from the store with music and a cold drink. I think having my own car gives me the freedom to be able to do things like this without guilt.

Me, explaining why Encanto isn't a fantastic film and Disney movies in general:

#i was talking about it at work today because my coworker wanted to hear my opinion on it#and i will say i am harsh on all movies im not just randomly shitting on a hispanic movie (im also hispanic anyways lol)#but yeah ive heard so much hype for it and i was so underwhelmed by it based on those reactions but also by my own standards#it's just another disney movie babes let it go <3#it has an amazing musical score? so does every other disney movie that isn’t a sign of an amazing movie anymore#any movie can dedicate a lot of time to a beautiful score and still not be great#it's also such a low bar considering disney is known for its musical scores like am i supposed to clap?#the designs were gorgeous yeah until you remember that frozen 2 has multiple beautiful outfits changes for the characters#meanwhile the encanto cast only had one outfit (felix and pepa got their outfits colored white for their wedding memory)#and back to that musical score? there were plenty of things that couldve been changed to make it more impactful like it sounds good but it#didnt feel heartwrenching like disney babe take a pause i know youre trying to keep it under 120 minutes but mirabel should take longer#pauses in waiting on a miracle <3 the scene with abuela alma also couldve cut deeper like disney shouldve made them go harder it#mirabel shouldve gotten to be angry for a little bit longer in that scene#this is also all coming from my thinking that they probably didn't give themselves enough time for this movie but hey#this is all just my opinion this is my house and youre all just sitting in it#d!sney ramblings#not transformers posting

pjo is so funny because out of the two main adaptations, one is considered one of the worst book adaptations of all time and the other is highly regarded among fans practically to the point of being considered better than the book. we really got the extremes at either end of the spectrum

I was watching a video on how the music in Cats the movie is also terrible but before the guy in the video got into that he started explaining the plot to Cats and I didnt know a thing about it (other than the supposed orgy) but when he got into the meaning of Memory?!?!?! I cried real tears, I felt like Rodrick when he started crying in the theatre (also at Memory) idk the name of the woman that sang it for the stage movie but me and her are fighting because she had no right making me cry at 'touch me, its so easy to leave me' wtf lady, I'm trying to bake some cookies here

hiii looking for mutuals
name's rose, she/her, i'm 21, isfj 4w5
VERY interested in most things d*sney parks and specifically Epcot, i love it very very much especially the millennium celebration period (talk to me about illuminations please ill cry and throw up). i'm pretentious about my music taste but i'm a massive AJR fan AND a huge clikkie so i don't deserve that big of an ego about it. also a big fan of vulfpeck, the beatles, porter robinson, and lots of other artists. i'm a big fan of wes anderson and david lynch films, and twin peaks (duh). avid collector of any sort of physical media (vinyl, cd, tape, blu-ray, VHS, laserdiscs if i could get a player at a reasonable price)
if this intro hasn't driven you away by this point, give me a follow! i'm always down to chat even though i'm often not very at doing that.
