Decided to draw character designs for some Horus Heresy girlies. So here they all are!

Design notes below the cut:

Bequa Kynska: I decided to base her whole vibe slightly off Carla Rockmore. The patterns on the sleeve cuffs are inspired by this piece of 13th century Lebanese embroidery.

Cyrene Valantion: Her outfit is inspired by traditional Georgian and Azerbaijanian women’s dress, also some (indirect) inspiration from the works of Michael Nesterov and orthodox saint icons in general.

Lotara Sarrin: Her design didn’t change much because she’s already perfect. But I did make her look a bit like Amrita Sher-Gil’s “Three Girls” painting.

Amar Astarte: Based off the irl statuette of (possibly) the goddess Astarte that was found in the necropolis of Hillah, near Babylon. I also gave her a lab coat because cmon, evil scientist gotta evil science. (Statue pictured below)

Mersadie Oliton: Her clothes and jewellery are based off art from the 17th century Ottoman Empire, specifically from the Rålamb book of costumes.

Tarasha Euten: Clothing and hairstyle are inspired by statues from the Roman Empire, while the accessories are inspired by the Indus River Valley civilisation.

Euphrati Keeler: her clothing is inspired by a mix of fanart I’ve seen of her and this photo of a person from Elmali in traditional clothing (from the 1873 Vienna world fair)

Abel/Pasqal: Pasqal doesn't talk about anything else in the galaxy the way he talks about Abel, and I think it's beautiful. He's so fond and protective and full of wonder at the strangeness of Abel's perspective. I'd love h/c after Abel's rescue, helping to fix his augmetics and/or clear out the remains of the scrap code; I'd love the two of them working together on the mysteries of Amarnat and/or Nomos; I'd love intimacy that involved machine parts interfacing or code combination. I'm very soft for them.

Heinrix/Abelard: I just like their party banter, where Abelard is prickly and needling Heinrix and Heinrix keeps deflecting him. It just makes a good start for some bantery slash? But if you wanted to take it somewhere more serious, Abelard is a tired old soldier who's been through a lot, and if he became convinced Heinrix wasn't a threat to the von Valancius dynasty... Incorporating some of the themes from Heinrix' canon romance, him letting his guard down, being so touch-starved and unused to care, would also be good in that case.

Idira/Theodora: Look. Idira was so destroyed by Theodora's death, and Theodora was the glamorous stranger who showed up to her provincial world and swept her up to see the galaxy. There's all this romantic background, and then it's complicated by power dynamics and the ruthlessness of a Rogue Trader, and the problems that Idira's psyker powers give her, and it's just this potentially really messy ship and I want it to exist.

About the Rogue Trader: I'm really fond of the Crime Lord backstory; I like someone working outside imperial rules. I don't have a really set appearance in mind, though I'm a fan of all the tattoo options. Pick your fave history and appearance!

RT/Uralon: I am so thirsty. Uralon drops the RT to his knees on their first meeting and YES HELLO. I like a heretic RT being actively into this terrifying hot bastard he's had a vision of, and working toward meeting him, and being thrilled to become his champion. Size difference, danger kink, and all my general unhinged howling about themes in my main Word Bearer prompt apply here.

RT/Tocara: When I got to Footfall the first time I wanted to dom the hell out of Vladaym. Then in the chapter 4 sequence, when you can see his bulletproof mesh peeking out of his collar and the old criminal tattoos on his arms, I fell for him a little. I'd love to see a roguish RT striking sparks off him, playing with the power difference, Vladaym refusing to just roll over but aware that he's not the biggest dog here.

RT/Ulfar: Honestly just climb that beefcake mountain pls. The Space Wolves are some of the most connected to human culture and the joys of life out of any Chapter; they should fuck. Something celebratory after a successful battle? Size kink, maybe RT's first time actually getting this close to a Space Marine, scar worship on either side. Abaddon/Eidolon: After the Legion Wars, Eidolon winds up somehow allied with Abaddon for later Black Crusades. How? also: Hot? Love to see two powerful, violent men figure out how they can make a deal that they think they get the best of. Also great if they bang in the process.

Bellephus/Narvo Quin/Savona: Their dynamics throughout Manflayer are great, and then they run off together in a sentient gunship to be raiders somewhere. THAT'S SO GOOD? Please show me where they go from there and how much fun they have. Quin has missed out on so much debauchery! Bellephus and Savona can show him.

Cinis/Mortarion: Cinis just fascinates me and I'd love to see more of her with the death god she follows, and the things she learns about the galaxy through his worldview, and the ways she's discovering things she was never meant to. Not looking for penetrative sex here but other kinds of intimacy are good.

Kalkator/Zerberyn: So how about being a Son of Dorn who's sworn himself to an Iron Warriors warsmith? Please tell me what happens after they leave the canon stage! Interested in culture shock, less culture shock than expected, kink exploration/discovery around dom/sub roles, suggestions that other Fists Exemplar are in similar situations. Dubcon ok but I'd like Zerberyn to ultimately be comfortable belonging to his warsmith.

Kar-Gatharr/Torvann Lokk: Friiieeennndsssss. I'd love to see any snapshot of their friendship over the millennia, sfw or nsfw, just capturing their respect for each other. I'd also love a canon divergence where Kar-Gatharr ascends in his last fight and the two of them can reunite as daemon princes.

Horus/Typhon: There's a scene in the prologue of Angels of Caliban where Typhon is swooning over Horus' charisma and mad at himself for swooning (but swooning), 30 years before the Heresy, and it's KIND OF ADORABLE and I just want that to lead to some kind of hero-worship-flavored hookup later on?

Erebus/Typhon: In that same scene from AoC, Erebus shows up to be actually charismatic for once and is hugging-level friends with Typhon. I'm so glad. They should be in cahoots! Let them do spooky Chaos stuff and/or get it on.

Erebus/Horus: Look I just want nice things for Erebus pls, and he clearly spent as much time as possible hanging out with Horus' Expedition before the Heresy. Let him get that dick and love it.

Aximand/Marr: There's a great bit in "The Either" where Aximand offers Marr a spar to make him feel better about his frustrations, and we fade to black and later they both feel better and Aximand has fresh bruises. Now make it sexy. I just love camaraderie and battle brothers with benefits and there's this scene because McNeill loves me.

Kroeger/Lucius: They had that great moment in Angel Exterminatus where Fulgrim and Perturabo BOTH had to call off their dogs in a planning meeting. Please let these fighty dirtbags have a rematch! If it ends in sex that's great, but if they're both too obsessed with literal swords to get into the metaphorical kind, that's great too. Slight preference for Kroeger winning but any outcome is fine if they both get something out of it.

Saqqara: Bitter and wry, captive and disrespected, and flat refusing to accept defeat—he's phenomenally good in his own field, it's just orthogonal to what Fabius et al. esteem. I have so few concrete thoughts; I just want every fanwork celebrating him. Calth, training with Erebus, his time at evil med school, how he deals with daemons, anything.

Sargon: LOOK AT HIM HE'S CUTE AND SPOOKY. I love his silence and his Khayon-confounding mental wards and how much of an enigma he is. I'd love to see him contacting Falkus' warband in the first place, or how he came to Abaddon to start with, or how he gets along with the rest of the Ezekarion—any of those things being shippy is also good.
