Paige and Microsoft have unveiled the next big breakthrough in clinical AI for cancer diagnosis and treatment: Virchow2 and Virchow2G, enhanced versions of its revolutionary AI models for cancer pathology.

The Virchow2 and Virchow2G models are based on an enormous dataset that Paige has accumulated. Paige has gathered more than three million pathology slides from over 800 labs across 45 countries, on which the models were trained. Such a volume of data is, unsurprisingly, highly beneficial. This data was obtained from over 225,000 patients, all de-identified to create a rich and representative dataset encompassing all genders, races, ethnic groups, and regions across the globe.

What makes these models truly remarkable is their scope. They cover over 40 different tissue types and various staining methods, making them applicable to a wide range of cancer diagnoses. Virchow2G, with its 1.8 billion parameters, stands as the largest pathology model ever created and sets new standards in AI training, scale, and performance.

As Dr. Thomas Fuchs, founder and chief scientist of Paige, comments: “We’re just beginning to tap into what these foundation models can achieve in revolutionising our understanding of cancer through computational pathology.” He believes these models will significantly improve the future for pathologists, and he agrees that this technology is becoming an important step in the progression of diagnostics, targeted medications, and customised patient care.

Similarly, Razik Yousfi, Paige’s senior vice president of technology, states that these models are not only making precision medicine a reality but are also improving the accuracy and efficiency of cancer diagnosis, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in pathology and patient care.

So, how is this relevant to cancer diagnosis today? Paige has developed a clinical AI application that pathologists can use to recognise cancer in over 40 tissue types. This tool allows potentially hazardous areas to be identified more quickly and accurately. In other words, the diagnostic process becomes more efficient and less prone to errors, even for rare cancers, with the help of this tool.

Beyond diagnosis, Paige has created AI modules that can benefit life sciences and pharmaceutical companies. These tools can aid in therapeutic targeting, biomarker identification, and clinical trial design, potentially leading to more successful trials and faster development of new therapies.

The good news for researchers is that Virchow2 is available on Hugging Face for non-commercial research, while the entire suite of AI modules is now available for commercial use. This accessibility could accelerate advancements in cancer research and treatment across the scientific community.

In summary, the recently introduced AI models represent a major advancement in the fight against cancer. Paige and Microsoft have chosen the right path by combining the power of data with state-of-the-art AI technologies. These companies have created new opportunities for more accurate cancer prediction, paving the way for tailored solutions and innovative research in oncology.

I have designed my two protagonists through customization. Here are the infos about these two characters.

Rosa and Vio are cousins to each other as Rosa's mother and Vio's father are siblings. Both of them are 14 years old which makes them as same age as Penny. Their design and characteristic traits are inspired by the certain gemstones, which are Rose Quartz and Iolite respectively. As such, Rosa represents emotion whereas Vio represents rationality.

Rosa was born to wealthy Scarlett family in Floaroma Town of Sinnoh region. Ethnically, she is one quarter Kantonian and three quarter Galarian (Pokemon equivalent of one quarter Japanese and three quarter English) as her paternal grandmother is Kantonian, though her paternal grandfather is Galarian Sinnohan. Her family in Sinnoh consists of paternal grandparents, paternal aunt and uncle (aunt's husband), paternal cousin, and mother. Her father unfortunately passed away few years prior of beginning of stories. Unlike Penny who is very annoyed with her own father, Rosa loves her father so much that she became very interested in something related to Hisui as her father and her uncle (aunt's husband) are researchers of Hisui. He was supposed to be a head of Scarlett family, but due to his passing his elder sister became the head of the family instead. As such, she made few of maids train her daughter and Rosa the kunoichi skills and arts of refinements (the way of fragrance, tea, and flower). Rosa's paternal grandmother comes from kunoichi family in Kanto Region.

Vio was born to upper middle class Violett family in Opelucid City of Unova region. He is ethnically half Galarian and half Unovan (Pokemon equivalent of half British half American) as his mother is Unovan. His family in Unova consists of just mother and father. Like Penny who is very annoyed with her own father, Vio is very annoyed with his own mother as she is too over-doting and hysterical. His mother is part of International Police, specifically cyber investigation. As such, Vio sometimes was trained under it, enabling him to develop great detective like cautiousness, perception and reasoning.

Ratchet’s sg coloration is based on my rescue squad’s engine and ambo, they are lime green :D

Prowl is a lot more hot headed than his canon counterpart. He still loves art and nature, but he is more passionate and aggressive in his expression. He’s blunt and irreverent, most likely in the team to actually talk shit about high command. If it weren’t for how isolated the space bridge crew was, they’d be giving him mad side eye.

He still got captured for draft dodging and was sent to the cyber ninja corps. Yoketron groomed him to take over the corps, and Prowl kept a lid on his reservations in order to avoid the consequences of being unfaithful to the autobot cause. However, when Yoketron showed Prowl the protoforms, Prowl was faced with undeniable proof that the autobots have complete control over the lives of all mechs, bringing them online for the sole purpose of sending them straight to training and war. Enraged by the abuse against life itself, Prowl kills Yoketron and then flees. Lockdown comes for the protoforms later, and he has mad respect for the mech who made his job a whole lot easier.

(Don’t worry about the protoforms, they’re fine. The decepticons are working on a way to start life without vector sigma or the allspark but at least the autobots cant keep sending newsparks to the horrors.)

Jazz meets the fabled golden student only to find out he’s the traitor who killed Yoketron… and I think Prowl and Lockdown would get along a lot better than in canon. They already worked well together, but now their ideals align a lot better. I imagine Lockdown was a courier in the early war, and he did a delivery for the Decepticons bc they pay well and Lockdown was in a desperate situation. At that point he just kept working for the decepticons, and started taking parts from captured autobots to replace the parts he loses in skirmishes. He had to get really good on giving himself emergency treatment in the field.

Starting up:

Jay, half human, half twi'lek, his mother is the twi'lek. When he was born he was shipped to the Huts on Tatooine but his little carriage pod dropped and was picked up by Jawas. He has mechanical wings he made himself and specializes in marketing for the Jawas because he's adorable

Force sensitive

Ed and Edna: Jawas who find Jay are the main ones who raise him but I'm fairly certain jawas take the whole village approach.

Cole: Togurta. Togurta's are very strong and agile but people always seem surprised when they actually show case their strength. This seemed very fitting for Cole.

Force sensitive

Kai and Nya: human nautolan hybrids but it has been so long since the nautolan was introduced they don't have many traits other than large dark eyes and Nya is able to breathe under water. (They don't know its nautolan, which is kit fistos species for those who don't know)

Force sensitive

Nya is stronger in the force but she uses chants to help her focus (like the og dathomirian witches)

Zane: zane is a kyber crystal powering a droid. He more specifically the crystal then the body because kyber crystals are sentient

Force sensitive

Pixal: same deal as zane but her crystal faced torture (from the mining process) zane heals her later but she still struggles (fun fact ahsoka's kyber crystals were corrupted and tortured but she rescued and healed them and that is why they are white)

Force sensitive can only manipulate it through the dark side

Garmadon and Wu: Diathim (also referred to as angels) and part zabrak (i went back and forth on that because beskalisks have four arms but then I drew it and just fit well for them) angels are considered the most beautiful creatures while zebraks tend to be considered evil. Both are capable of good and evil.

Very force sensitive

Garmadon isn't strictly a sith. More of just acts as he sees is needed. He does tend to use the dark side a lot though

Garmadon is missing his lower wings and has mutated arms with cyber supports

Misako: Chiss, intellectual tend to try to logic their emotions away (think a blue spock) the Diathim have prophecies. She wanted to study them. She and Garmadon fall in love

Lloyd: Diathim, zabrak and chiss. Very tall. Blue skin, red eyes, has all of his wings but also has a set of lower arms that do not have cyber supports.

Force sensitive, just dripping midiclorians to the point he boosts the sensitivity of those he is around

Struggles with acting in anger and will accidentally hurt his lightsabers original kyber crystals that he will wear on a necklace and pours into whenever he meditates

Rei: human, mandalorian black smith

Force sensitive

Maya: human nautolan hybrid also unaware of the nautolan she just thinks it's the force she is trained like the og dathomirian witches

Lily: Togruta

Lou: Togruta dancer and singer, gets paid for it

Harumi: human, not force sensitive but will later inject midiclorians to try be able to use the force and will become dependent on them

Cyrus: human, tries to create kyber crystal droids like zane but the mining process corrupted all of them including the prosthetics he tried to make that were powered by crystals. He chooses to be wheel chair bound after the incident but he is ambulatory with regular prosthetics he just finds it exhausting

Morro: zabrak, becomes a malevolent ghost but will later settle down into a regular force ghost who follows wu around

Serpentine: sub species of hutt. Made them native to dathomir and the moons

Void Silver, written by Alejandro Arbona and illustrated by Suzi Blake, explores a version of contemporary London in which magic is real and only certain people aare trained in how to use it. As such, magic-users cultivate celebrity and status, operating across government, STEM, and even entertainment. They are overseen by the imperious Magic Circle, which decides who can learn magic, when, and how.

Marvin, an eldritch magician, is kicked out of the Magic Circle for his reckless path toward self-discovery. In Void Silver, he continues to defy the Circle’s limitations even as he’s sucked into a murder mystery and must get along with the higher-ups to find out what happened. This prologue comic will set up the greater Altrverse and establish Marvin’s world.

The Somewhat Incredible Jackie-Boy Man!, written by James Asmus, features prologue story art by Connie Daidone and main series art by Megan Huang. The series follows Jackie, a 20-something man living in a big city working a ton of odd jobs in the gig economy. He never has time to do anything cool or meet anyone his age because he works so much to afford his terrible apartment.

Although he strives to be a better person than his late father, who died when he was young, Jackie struggles to make deep connections as he constantly avoids deep conversations and often uses comedy as a defense or deflection tactic. But when he encounters a collapsed building, burning cars, and robots during a delivery gig, he quickly jumps to conclusions and then jumps into the fray. He manages to dismantle the robots, put out the fire by opening a nearby hydrant, and haul away debris to save a dummy.

As it turns out, Jackie has interfered in a controlled demonstration that cost the company Cyber Mass a lot of money. His quick action makes investors and media question the constitution of the company’s bots. While everyone around him starts arguing, Jackie slips away to finish his delivery, hoping to stay out of it.

2024 jp trip report (sights edition)

i just returned from my week-long tokyo trip, and wanted to log them down so i can remember where i went. i split up the food and sights posts thanks to tumblr's image limit per post. also apologies for my unflattering pictures😂 i don't have a particularly good phone, i was taking pics more for the memories than the niceness

Day 2 (14/5/2024)

starting with day 2 because we arrived at night on day 1.

we started the day at nakano broadway...where we spent too much time and money!! with its 10000 mandarake and other retro/anime goods stores. i forgot to take a closer picture of the entrance…anyway, just like in the hit video game Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth for the PS Vita and Nintendo Switch and PC and-

(expensive!!) twintails!! my beloved... <does not watch ultraman

and pokemon center in sunshine city ikebukuro! a very cool miraidon statue...and also a quaxly butt for some reason 😂

Day 3 (15/5/2024)

we walked around akiba and asakusa today. for a weeb in particular, i don't think you could finish walking akiba even in a week...anyway, just like in the video game Digimon Story Cyber Sl-

we walked the multi-storey donki in akiba. of particular note is the signage for the 'pokemon corner'....i'm crying 😭 love this graphic design

so we went around mandarake and a few other anime merch spots. soul hackers 2 merch spotted???? (i didn't get it since i didn't really need more acrylic stands.. :') arrow and his lil poltergeist friend tho...)

while walking, we passed by the otahimeinari shrine. it's always really nice to find these in the middle of the city..the tree's fruit were also huge!!

before we headed to asakusa, we walked by jinbocho. just like in the hit video game Persona 5 for the PS3- while i wish we had a bit more time to spend there (i would have loved to find some japanese language/linguistics-related books from prewar era), i really think most of the old books there are out of my depth 🤣 (it is a very nice place to stroll for lovers of old books and book smell though)

and after some train line switching screwups we made it to asakusa. as expected it's crowded even on a weekday! we saw the famous kaminarimon and also walked down the streets.

Day 4 (16/5/2024)

we started the day at tsukiji outer market, which was very near tsukiji hongwanji! beautiful buddhist temple. (also just like in the hit video game Shin Megami Tensei IV for the Nintendo 3DS)

we went on to ginza which was nearby, and made it to itoya, the multi-storey stationery store i spent too much time and money in 😩 they even had a paper shadowbox art exhibition below! the art pieces on showcase there are 🤯 beautiful...

before leaving ginza/hibiya area...shin godzilla spotted!!

then we went to tokyo skytree and did..even more shopping... (and even though i didn't get any reservations it was so cute to see kirby cafe in person ;w;)

and then we headed to ryogoku, the sumo town, for dinner. it's near sumida river so i couldn't resist getting a view...just like in the hit video game Paranormasight for Nintendo Switch and PC (ok i don't think this is the correct bridge 🤣 but the view was still very nice! and we DID go to the ryogoku bridge too though i didn't get a good pic of it)

Day 5 (17/5/2024)

we started at shinjuku today to walk to shibuya. this was the day that totally killed my feet T_T (not that the other days didn't already lol). apparently the other days were averaging 10k steps but this day was 30k?? i'm not a fit person to begin with..

anyway we were greeted by a giant cat overlord near shinjuku station exit!

godzilla spotted again! and we also spent a bit too much at the multi-storey tokyu hands here...

nearby takeshita street, we took a walk to meiji jingu shrine. just like in persona fiv- i especially enjoyed the walk to the shrine (now if only i didn't have foot pain from excessive walking), the scale of the pathway and trees! coupled with the wonderful 25? celsius weather...i still miss it as i'm writing this while back in singapore where i'm sweating just by existing. lol

on the way to shibuya, we dropped by this store called 'birdmore' specialising in birb merch and pet bird goods. MY JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR this is the first time i saw sooo many birb-themed items in one place 😭 from socks to bags to stationery to mugs and bags everything. though the species are a bit focused on the few species that generally get the birb merch in japan (budgies, cockatiels, tits, bunchou, shoebill, etc.).

i had a little talk with the shopkeeper and i mentioned we were from singapore, and she said she was envious as she wanted to visit our birdpark ;w; i told her that the birdpark moved to mandai and how the birds are flying around outside of cages and are not scared of people so you can get reallyy close to them, and she seemed so excited..aa i really hope she gets to go one day..!!

we reached shibuya parco, and...DIGIMON CORNER... i think i could cry seeing a bunch of digimon merch lined up like that in person 😭😭😭 i wanted to buy up all of these otedama SO BAD but unfortunately money and space are an issue lol. i ended up settling for an imperialdramon DM otedama ;w;

there was also a capcom store at shibuya parco! of particular interest to me were the monhun and ace attorney otedama, they didn't have otedama of susato nor my boi yian kut-ku tho...😭 it was a tough choice between nargacuga and maya ace attorney but i settled for narga ;v; (crying at otedama edgey's face though)

some other iconic locations in shibuya! just like in the video game The World Ends With You for Nintendo DS and various other-

also before we return to the hotel..the ike-fukuro statue at ikebukuro station! (TL note: fukurou is japanese for the ural owl)

Day 6 (18/5/2024)

we took a day trip to miura peninsula today (it's about an hour train ride from tokyo), using the misaki maguro ticket! i gotta get some fresh tuna sashimi while i'm in japan 😤 this might be my fave day among the days...idk, i just really enjoyed the walk and sights and food and overall experience on this day soo much ;v;;

just like everywhere in japan they have to have their own cute mascot characters....miura tunanosuke the daikon-wielding tuna samurai and miuran the sakura fairy(??)

miura beach! a very short walk from miurakaigan station and a wonderful view. also, it's just like in the hit video game Persona 5 for- (i swear i'm not specifically hunting for videogame spots lol but if i come across them why not🤭 i still find it a bit surreal how persona 1-4 were all in fictional japanese cities and suddenly..persona 5 in tokyo!)

after that we took the train to misakiguchi station and about a 20?min bus ride to misaki port. we went to the urari marche (a seafood and veg market); other than market stuffs, they had a bunch of crane machines filled with just fish and tuna merch...i respect the dedication to the theme lol! there were also other fish-related merch like this eyemask that looked like an ikura platter i wanted it so bad :')

after misaki port, we took a bus to jogashima. CATS!!!!!!! while it's not particularly a 'cat island' like some of the more famous cat islands in japan, it's still a pleasant surprise to see these cats roaming around.

and some pictures of jogashima. we walked along the uneven coast where there was no clear marked path; having stayed in the city all my life (even the nature trails here are usually cleared for easier walking) and rarely venturing overseas lol, i've never really had this sort of experience before? i didn't prepare myself for this and so my shoes meant for normal walking and not hiking kinda split halfway through the trek on uneven ground 😂 it was really beautiful, but i think because of my fitness (lack thereof) i caused extra worry...i would like to experience something like this alone sometime so i can go at my own pace without feeling pressured like i am worrying others who could've gone much faster if only i weren't there.

Day 7 (19/5/2024)

we had a morning walk at ueno park, which is HUGE and really nice to walk in, and also houses museums such as the national museum of western art, national museum of nature and science (nature museums my beloved), and tokyo national museum. sadly we didn't have time to check out the museums this time, but i'd love to visit them if i do make another trip here... my mother said before that a tour guide once told her 'singaporeans don't seem to like museums much, they prefer shopping' and sadly i am not proving that uncultured singaporean stereotype wrong with all my weeb shopping 😂😭

ueno toshogu shrine, which was built in dedication to tokugawa ieyasu. i wasn't aware till now but apparently toshogu (東照宮) refers to any shinto shrine in which ieyasu is enshrined with his deified name, and ueno toshogu is just one of the toshogu.

ok i hit the post photo limit skdfjdkgh well the rest of the day was walking around akiba with my friend 😆 we tried to look for 13 sentinels merch (we checked out radio kaikan, suruga-ya and other places) but there was none to be found /_\ i did pass by the square enix cafe though! i was tempted to get the 16-bit arrange albums of octopath and then realised i do not have a CD player anymore..and also managed to see the one (1) bravely default merch!!

just gotta slowly save up for that next trip...someday... .w.
