Hey again chooms, just wanted to post a little something about my V as a character reference in the event someone wants to RP with us! If that's not your thing please just skip this wall of text! At the moment I'm only comfortable writing as V but I'll write him against a whole number of characters including pretty much any main or supporting character in Cyberpunk 2077/Phantom Liberty or any OC you've created for that universe. Feel free to contact me so we can brainstorm something together.
You can message me here on tumblr or I have a discord as well: nightcitysmerc.
A little bit about my V in particular - started off as a street kid in Heywood like the life path in the game but only because when he was very young his parents were driving(with him in the backseat) through the neighborhood when they got caught up in the middle of a cyberpsycho attack. Immediately his father was killed and his mother got caught up in the crossfire from MaxTac while attempting to get him out of the car so they could flee. Once the attack had ended they just sort of left him sitting there alone, in shock and traumatized with the dead bodies of his parents. A sweet older woman who lived in an apartment across the street came to get him and took him inside to clean him up. Since he had no other relatives in the city she took him in and the streets of Heywood more or less raised him. It wasn't a bad way to grow up but he was sort of a loner despite everyone in the neighborhood being so fond of him and taking care of him. The pain of losing his parents to viciously stuck with him and he was afraid of a repeat if he got close to anyone else. So of course Jackie Welles was the only one that was able to truly get inside that wall and he finally allowed himself to be close to someone only to tragically end up losing him. Then there was the relic and Johnny Silverhand coming into play to shake up his whole world. Despite it all he tries to make the most moral choices he can in his line of work, is very anti-corpo and has the best relationship with Johnny as possible. He really really tries to be good even while doing wrong but ain't that just like Night City for you?
As he grows and takes on the life of a merc he stays mostly organic, too afraid of overpowering his system with cyberware and risking cyberpsychosis. He refuses to be the cause of anything like what happened to his parents. There's a deep rooted fear there as well when forced to face anyone going through cyberpsychosis but he manages it just fine, at least on the outside- ask him again later when he's several drinks deep to help shake it off. He has the basic set up as far as cyberware goes and depending on what point you meet V during, he might have a pair of mantis blades installed. The lack of extensive cyberware only means he's become an excellent shot with a range of weaponry. He's fast and clever, forced to have learned how to take care of himself on the streets at a young age.
I usually play V pre any sort of ending for cyberpunk so he's still alive and kicking with Johnny yapping away in his head. I'll happily work something out with anyone wanting to write Johnny with me though! I'm open to doing anything post relic removal as well, any of the canon game endings or anything we make up ourselves. That includes Phantom Liberty things as well! I'll write anything with love interests involved or not, he swings all different ways so he'll accept all genders. My V is canonically trans as well(as am I, couldn't pass up the opportunity when the game gave me the option!) but could easily be written with certain implants if you get my drift. I tend to lean more into m/m pairings but I'm truly open to all so don't be shy to ask!
Okay if you're still reading this then you've been forced to hear my ramble on like a gonk for long enough. Just like so many others, I'm very passionate about the game, characters and the universe itself and I'd love to get the chance to play around in it some more with any of you! Please please please feel free to reach out if anyone wants to RP or just chat about CP2077 in general. That would be extremely preem!

I really need a game studio to make a new shadowrun game on par with bg3 (story and gameplay wise it doesn't need to be that big)
Benefits of this:
1. People will want to play shadowrun (with me)
2. People will realize that shadowrun is way cooler than the cyberpunk rpgs
3. It would be rad and fun

This doesn't have anything to do with this blog or anything. But I noticed that in gaming fandoms, people are so mean towards those that self insert themselves into the character even when you have the option to do so with character creation and whatnot. And Like??? I just want to say—Wtf is your problem? How is someone wanting to be a hero, wanting to live out a romance in a fictional world, wanting to have a better sense of agency over their lives, to immerse themselves in an interesting story, in order to escape their boring day by day routines, a bad thing? Why is escapism being shamed and demonetized in today's new day and age? Don't get me wrong, you're allowed to not want to do that in games, but that doesn't give you the right to so blatantly belittle those who do DO that. What is this arrogant behavior?? You're not more intellectually superior than those that indulge themselves in a more immersive gameplay. GLOB, and I'm sick and tired of hearing that. Just mind your fucking business and let people experience games the way they see fit. That's not going to take away from the way YOU experience your gameplay. The only thing you're ending up doing is being an entitled asshole towards those who are more neurologically divergent than you are. That's it.

The Duality of Love in Cyberpunk 2077
Tumblr media
I find it interesting how a decent amount of ppl compare Songbird and V to Johnny and Alt's relationship b/c of them being netrunners and V and Johnny both defying big authoritative figures to save someone they love. Or care for(usually when I say the word love I mean care for) anyways. Which I agree but I started to think of Rogue and Johnny's relationship.
Johnny was straight up cruel to Rogue maybe their relationship wasn't the best or they had other "terms" during their relationship but for the most part, Johnny was not a "good lover". He cheated on Rogue I think Alt as well? And yeah he was mostly selfish throughout their relationship. Even though in the game Alt says "Johnny can alter his memories" it's funny how V is still shown how much a bastard Johnny is. Not like he ever tried to hide it really.
But, so Johnny showed Rogue time and time again that he was a "bad person" or specifically a "bad lover" but everytime Johnny had some bullshit cooked up he always went to Rogue for help. Even when Rogue protested against the things they did, she still decided to help him through and through. Also during the raid on arasaka(ending) with Rogue, Johnny can leave Wayland(to basically die) Rogue gets upset at Johnny but (in a way still sounds like how she did in the past) rages at him but still fights with/for him. Later on Johnny will blame Smasher for Wayland's death (but if he had helped Wayland, he wouldn't have died)
Basically, Rogue put up so much bullshit to help Johnny no matter what it was. Interesting way to be loved/show ur love. Rogue was emotionally manipulated but still always put her life on the line to help Johnny. And he was probably the last person she should've helped but she did it anyways out of love or eddies?(mostly love). But with V and Song, Song lies to V(Song is betraying V's trust) and at the same time, V can do the same thing to Songbird BUT they both still had the choice to protect one another. Whether it was V still sending Songbird to the moon or Songbird still deciding to protect V from dying by some Raging AI. Johnny just takes and takes and even 50years later he's "changed" but can still be a fucking bastard in the end and Rogue pays the price. Diving in head first to save someone she loves. And possibly redeem herself as well.
And Johnny rushing into arasaka Tower to "save" Alt, I honestly felt like he did it for Alt but genuinely it was more for his ego? Rogue calls him out on it? And I think I agree. He could never let shit go, and in a way it felt like Alt's death was used as an excuse to blow shit up(taking shit to the extreme or to prove to himself that he was worth arasaka's time💀). I have no doubt in my mind he loved Alt but did he love her the "right" way, never. It made me think what if Johnny wasn't such an asshole and he decided to pay attention to his gf could she have actually ASKED for his help.
He claimed Songbird only got to the moon cause of "luck" but really she had support SOMEONE THAT LOVED HER AND BELIEVED IN HER. Helping, If only he could've been there for Alt maybe both of them could've had a "happier" ending. Songbird had V with her to the very end. Whereas Alt was alone and Johnny was too.

So I'm a massive Dungeons and Dragons player, and one of the people I play with hosts a game on the side whenever our DM has to cancel for any reason (they're a teacher so it happens a bit during the end of semesters for report cards).
They had introduced me to Lancer, the Mech RPG. But they said they were going to do it differently, which frightened me because learning a new set of rules to follow is already intimidating, plus I've never RPed in a sci-fi high-tech world before.
But I'm was shocked that their change was to keep everything on earth, no space exploration, no aliens, nothing like that. And instead, they're going to adapt everything into the world of
Cyberpunk 2077
We realized it was so convenient to have it be in Night City and us posing as the NCPD, we could use the game map with things pointed out already, look at in-game locations for when we go somewhere, I gotta say, even though I'm not 100% sure of how the normal lancer RPG, having mech licenses be "buying the rights to a mech from a company", the usual badguys be TygerClaws and Voodoo Bois, it's better than I could have imagined. I love this module

Don't get me wrong, I adore companions in RPGs, they are very often the best part of the game and their personal quests and stories usually feature not just the best storytelling in games, but in any media period. But I also think that it would be nice to have a companion who's just... okay. And by that I mean just a dude with no tragic backstory, no secret world shattering powers, no trauma, no toxic traits, none of that. Their reasons for joining the party is not out of desperation but out of curiosity or mid-life crisis or something equally mundane and "boring."
Their personal quest composes merely of small, chill activities. Like taking the main character out to a market to grab some food which they later use to prepare a big dinner for the other hardworking companions. Or maybe they have their own personal romance within the group which they try to pursue and need your help to learn more about this person, because they are a little intimidated (and if you want to be evil, you can sabotage these efforts to get with their love interest yourself). They sometimes vanish from the group for a couple of hours, but the big reveal is that they would just sneak to a nearby town to get messengers and send some cash and loot they got to their family back home.
I know this companion would be definitely not received positively by the community (or maybe I'm just too jaded by people measuring characters primarily by looks and by how fucked up stuff they commit to deem them interesting), but I still think it would be a nice change of pace, even if this guy would probably be the most out of place in any RPG group.
In short, I'd love to see a comfy companion. A comfanion, if you will.
