Good morning, I'm mildly salty.

I woke up with a newfound dislike for "canon ships" being shoved down my throat. Haven't felt like this in a while, actually. If they were at least well written, then I wouldn't mind it - I have no issue with ships in canon even if I personally don't care for them. I like good stories, I like good romances, I love seeing characters with chemistry. But I hate hate hate seeing characters with no chemistry being paraded around like the ultimate soulmates when each of them has more sparks flying between them and their microwave than with their supposed s/o.

This isn't tied to the fact that I may have other ships for each of the characters; I joined fandoms in the early 00s, I never cared for canon validation, I write what I see and enjoy regardless of canon. My ships never compete with canon, they exist in their own plane. But it never stops being lame when canon fails at establishing a ship that is actually based in chemistry and a good story rather than what fans want, what writers envisioned but failed to build or what the the respective society decrees should happen.

That said, this is just high level complaining because I still always say: those who create a story own it and they have all the rights to take it wherever they want it to go. I respect authors'/writers' choices for their own creations, nobody is forcing me to continue engaging with them. As a fan it's still disappointing when you see something that feels forced and there isn't even an obvious good reason for it. (But at the end of the day, that's why I enjoy fanfic and rp because it gives us an opportunity to write alternatives we enjoy more.)

Something that kills me is how Bell in almost every case seems to hesitate when faced with killing Adler despite the fact they should want to. Yes they can and will kill him, but in most endings it’s not something they seem to jump at the chance to do. Of course theres the lighter in the duga ending and how Bell will indulge him. Bell can also simply not call an ambush even if they unlock the back room which could be interpreted as not wanting to kill Adler/hesitation. 

What i barely see anyone mention really is how debatably they do hesitate on solovetsky too. In my opinion, they had to at the very least have been suspicious that Adler would try something. especially towards the end of his speech. Yet they don’t raise their gun until Adler raises his. Secondly, also in my opinion Bell had a shot lined up just barely before Adler did, yet it seems like they didn’t even shoot. 

This contrasted with how Adler is so ready to kill Bell no matter what really just reinforces their relationship. Adler is not attached to Bell. it certainly seems more personal than he wants to admit, but he’s not attached even if he does ‘respect’ Bell enough to give them a decent death in Solovetsky. However Adler knows Bell is attached to him whether they like it or not and uses that to his advantage which is why he does half the things he does.

How about you go back to primary school and re-learn decency, politeness and words like 'please' or 'thank you' or 'sorry'?

Tags, community labels and the “keep reading” function aren't mandatory to use. I use them voluntarily to make my blog comfortable for mutuals. It's courtesy. You have no right to demand me to hide stuff for you. I'm not your babysitter. Log out and go outside, then try talking to a person offline like that and you might get the answer you deserve.

Listen, I love the Night Nurse as a character. I love Ruth Connell, period.

But when she stands there in Charles' memories and watches him get beaten with a belt and then takes the words he cried at his father to beat him down further "No, you can't make it better. You never made it better, then you died."

I have yet to forgive her for that. It is, without a doubt, one of the cruellest lines I've ever heard in film or television.
