There’s not a lotta emphasis on being outnumbered but it’s there I promise 😭😭 anyways strangers across eras this time around!! Teehee I was sooo excited for this one.

It was an eventful morning for the men searching for the heroes of Hyrule. They were just about to eat breakfast when enemies ambushed them, leaving them unprepared and hungry. The enemies didn’t seem to be difficult, they were bokoblins from Rusl’s time, and he said how easy they are to fight, so the fighters didn’t struggle. There were just so many of them.

Talon ducked to cover behind a fallen log when the monsters attacked. He wasn’t a fighter by any means, so instead of making the others worried for him, he always decided to hide away with his pitchfork. He raised his head above the log and watched the fighting, noticing Kass and Linebeck nonchalantly sitting at the log he was using as cover.

“What are y’all doin’?” He asked.

“Watching the show,” Linebeck answered, not looking away.

“Well, they might come over here…” Talon stared at the monsters who all seemed to be distracted by the fighters.

“Don’t you worry Talon,” Kass reassured, “those men won’t let the monsters go anywhere near us. Just look at them!”

Talon sighed and watched them all fight. Leon was easily the strongest fighter here, so Talon had no doubt that an army of bokoblins was nothing to him, and even though Ammon didn’t have his prosthetic on (which Talon still didn’t understand), he was holding his own just fine. Benji surprised Talon the most, he was new to the group so his prowess was unknown, but he seemed to be swinging his unbreakable guitar violently back and forth which was effective against the bokoblins. Rusl was close to Benji, keeping his distance from the dangerous swinging of course, but close enough that any straggling bokoblins wouldn’t hurt him.

Talon watched while they fought, and it was a long while until a markless bokoblin was killed and the rest fell. Ammon let out a sigh and stabbed his sword in the ground, shaking his one good arm with a pained expression on his face.

“Goddesses, we need to look for the markless monster faster,” he said, mostly to himself. Leon shrugged.

“You did good with just one arm.”

“Well I’m not going to let myself be helpless with just one arm,” Ammon said with a smile. He began walking towards his tent. “It’s a bit early but I’m going to put my other arm on, fighting with one isn’t very comfortable.”

“I can imagine,” Leon muttered, following him. Rusl watched them for a moment then turned to the huddled group, who were beginning to wander around.

“Are y’all alright?” He asked.

Linebeck gave a thumbs up. “You guys are great.”

Rusl rolled his eyes and chuckled a bit. “Well I’m glad we can give y’all a show.”

“It’s truly remarkable watching you folks fight,” Kass gushed, “to have such discipline is incredible.”

“Well the offer to teach you three combat is still open.”

“Oh no, I usually just fly away. Besides, I’m a musician, not a fighter.”

Rusl gestured to Benji, who was cleaning his bloodied guitar.

“Well, uh, he has an indestructible guitar, I do not.”

Rusl chuckled and the men chatted for a bit while cleaning up the dead bodies of bokoblins. With them all being hungry and the fighters being tired, they were ready to make some food to make up for the fighting. Talon stayed behind the log though, staring at the dead bokoblins, until he heard a distant howl. He spun around and saw nothing, but heard the howls getting louder. The others didn’t seem to notice however, and Talon climbed over the log to get closer to them.

“Uh, boys, I don’t think this is over yet,” He said, interrupting the conversations the others were having.

“What do you mean?” Ammon asked.

“I heard somethin’.”

“What did you hear?” Leon stepped forward.

The men all jumped at a loud howl, and a large group of wolfos popped out of the bushes. Talon quickly ducked behind another log and watched as the others split up. Kass grabbed Linebeck with his talons and flew up into the trees. Talon would’ve been upset that he was left behind, but he honestly would rather risk getting mauled by a wolfos than falling out of a tree. He watched as the fighters went back into their fighting patterns, killing the wolfos left and right. Benji’s guitar wasn’t doing enough to kill the wolfos, but it stunned them enough for Ammon or Leon to finish it off. Talon’s eyes wandered over to Rusl who was… doing nothing… wait.

Talon watched in horror as Rusl, pale to the face, stared as the others killed the wolfos. He looked like he was paralyzed, too scared to move. But that didn’t make sense for Rusl, he was never scared of anything. Talon looked at the others, then back at Rusl. They needed his help. There were too many wolfos for all of them to fight against safely, but Talon couldn’t find the voice or the courage to move towards him. He just watched, helplessly. A wolfos noticed the frozen man and got closer to him, and Talon wanted to look away, but he couldn’t. He wanted to scream for Rusl to do something, but he just watched as Rusl stared at the large, gray wolfos. It growled and got low, looking like it was about to pounce, and Talon figured that Rusl would at least move to protect himself. But he didn’t.

Talon couldn’t hold back the gasp when the wolf jumped at Rusl and bit down on his shoulder, knocking him to the ground. Rusl yelled out in pain as the wolfos let go and tried to aim for his neck, but he fought back this time to stop it, and Talon couldn’t sit around anymore. He let out a battle cry and charged the wolfos with his flimsy little pitchfork. He stabbed its side and the feeling of the pitchfork sinking into the soft flesh nearly made Talon’s stomach lurch, but he pushed on, tearing the monster off of Rusl. The wolfos howled in pain as the pitchfork was pulled out and Talon froze as he realized that it wasn’t dead, and was instead angry. Several other wolfos came by and growled at Talon, protecting the injured wolfos. They were surrounded, and Talon froze up from fear. He felt completely exposed and helpless, left to defend his injured friend when he didn’t even know how to defend. But before the wolfos could attack him, Leon came to the rescue, and killed all the wolfos surrounding him.

There was silence, and Talon realized that all the wolfos were dead, and he gave a sigh of relief. He barely fought any of them, yet he felt like he fought an entire army. Boy, he sure was pathetic. Leon stuck his sword in the ground and glared at Rusl, who was clutching his bloody shoulder.

“Rusl, what was that?” He yelled, surprising Talon.

“S-sorry, I just–”

“Why did you let that thing attack you! I saw you, you did nothing!”

“I just… I just froze up,” Rusl said quietly, so quietly that Talon almost didn’t hear him. Leon took in a deep breath, then let it out, calming himself down. He gave Talon a look and gestured to the injured man and Talon nodded.

“I’ll take care of him,” he said, stooping down to help Rusl up. Talon began walking him to a tent when Kass and Linebeck got back on the ground.

“Kass… don’t you… ever do that again!” Linebeck wheezed, his face a shade lighter than his usual tan complexion. Kass rolled his eyes.

“Well I’m sorry for saving your life. I thought that you’d be grateful that you wouldn’t be anywhere near the wolves.”

“I could’ve died!”

“Oh hush up, I wouldn’t have let you fall– oh!” Kass noticed the bloodied Rusl, and so did Linebeck. The sailor turned around and gagged as Kass covered his beak. “My, what happened here?”

“I-I’m fine,” Rusl stammered.

“Oh, I hope so,” Kass muttered, and watched the two farmers enter the largest tent, leaving Talon alone to do his work.

Rusl was quiet as Talon cleaned and wrapped up the wound, which was unusual for him. He was usually a chatterbox, especially if he was nervous. Talon figured he would break the silence, just to ease the tension in the room– or tent.

“So… how do ya feel?”

Rusl sighed heavily, seeming to be very annoyed at the question. “I’ve been better,” he put simply. Talon frowned, something eating him up on the inside.

“Look, Rusl, I don’t mean to rub salt in the wound or whatever but… you usually fight back whenever a monster attacks you. Why didn’t you fight the wolfos?”

Rusl’s frown melted into a guilty look, and he turned his head away. “It’s complicated.”

“Oh, ok,” Talon should’ve stopped talking there, but he wanted to know more. “Afraid of wolves or somethin’?”

“Don’t like fighting them.”

“Oh, ok.” The awkwardness felt like a heavy weight pressing down on his head, but for some reason, Talon pressed on. “Why?”

“... It’s complicated.”

Talon nodded and finally decided to stop pressing. He gave Rusl’s shoulder a small pat and got up. “Get some rest a’right? Don’t want ya hurting yourself anymore.”

“Ok…”

Talon sighed and turned to the tent door, before looking back at Rusl. He was staring blankly above him, barely moving at all.

“Hey, I don’t think that Leon is that mad at you.”

Rusl smiled slightly. “I know.”

“So don’t let his yappin’ get to you. I’m sure he’s just worried ‘bout you is all.”

“Heh, well, it’s fine. That’s not what’s bothering me.”

“Then what is it?”

Rusl lifted his head and gave Talon a look. Talon lifted his hands up defensively.

“No, sorry, lemme guess. It’s complicated?”

Rusl smiled and rested his head back on the pillow, and Talon smiled awkwardly.

“Well, I should go, I’m sure the others will want to know that you’re a’right,” he announced, and he looked behind him one last time before leaving, seeing Rusl’s smile gone again. Whatever was truly bothering Rusl, Talon only hoped that he could get over it. But he didn’t want to talk about it, so for now, he would be left alone on the matter.

then something comes up and you have to leave the loufu for your home planet and when you are saying goodbye, he is not just upset, he is bitter, a little resentful because he never even thought about leaving your side, and he never considered that it may be different for you

you don't want to leave him, but you have to because you have responsibilities on your own planet and maybe you never planned to stay on the loufu forever in the first place

jing yuan grows and more people leave him, but he stays, and the pain never goes away, but it grows duller with him.

you grow as well and you are weighed down by the responsibilities of your family and you realize that your beloved aeon is not what you thought and you and your most trusted friends leave to find a way to free your people.

you turn to the loufu for help because you know that he is the general now and you hope that even if he hates you, you trust that he will be kind enough to save your people.

just imagine you request to have an audience with him and he is shocked to see you back, standing before him in the seat of divine foresight with the conviction of a leader in your eyes, as if you didn't tear his heart out of his foolish chest centuries ago and squeeze it rotten and dry in your deceiving hands.

but he plays along, brings your group to a meeting room and you are there pleading your case.

Anyways, I did some sketch studies on Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay's concept art! I really like how they drew Asha's hair in those sketches so I tried to focus on that.

These lines from the movie gave me the idea of Narrator conjuring up Tyler wayyy before the fight at Lou's tavern, the initial introduction on the airplane, and even before them checking each other out at the nude beach. It's pretty interesting to think about, and I found a Reddit post discussing this theory too.

I can imagine Tyler helping Narrator stand up to his bullies not through the classic savior type of way but through the Tyler Durden method. He'd tell him something like "I'm gonna beat the shit out of you, you're gonna fight back, and we're gonna keep doing this until you've gathered up enough courage to do the same to them, because the adults in your life aren't doing jack to put an end to this", basically turning a portion of Narrator's childhood into a more messed up version of Karate Kid (i suppose it's kinda like a manifestation of Narrator's self-loathing early on.)

After that Tyler went into hibernation for 20 years or so, then made a comeback because he could sense the Narrator was turning back to being spineless and feeble and becoming the kind of grown-up that they both hated. Narrator got a gut punch from Tyler as a coming-back-home gift and he was like "this feels oddly familiar" lol

Essentially, the whole thing happened because Narrator never grew out of his imaginary friend phase.

Hello, I'm the translator Anon. I know we don't have much information about the outside world, but I would like to know if you have any possible ideas for a Reader who is part of the Sons of Calydon and what role this Reader could play.

We see in the story that each one plays a role within the group, such as Lighter being a bodyguard and Burnice selling drinks. I tried to think of something for a Reader from the Sons of Calydon, but I couldn't think of anything, do you have any ideas?

HI TRANSLATOR ANON !! i remember someone else came up with reader who’s a mechanic and i LOVE that idea.

especially after what happened before the tour de inferno, you made a deal with the Sons of Calydon to not only supply them with top quality parts, but also repair and upgrade their bikes. all this outside of the hollow? that’s too good of a deal to pass up on.

in the beginning, they were a little suspicious. you didn’t seem to have any ties to bad biker gangs and your bike that you showed them used parts that could never be gotten so easily in the hollow. caesar decided to take your bike out for a spin (lighter watching like a hawk to make sure she doesn’t get hurt), and she was laughing and screaming. once she was back, she gave your hand a firm shake and immediately went on about what sort of upgrades she wanted with her bike.

from that day on, you became the official mechanic for the Sons of Calydon. your work was clean and your service was fast. other mechanics and repairmen would take a few days, you only needed 2 days. even if you took a bit of time on their bikes, you would give them the keys to your bike so that they could still ride around the outer ring if they needed to.

if anyone wants a longer post (mechanic reader x lighter perhaps?), i will be more than happy to write it out ! it might take some time because i know NOTHING about motor parts but i will try to write something good.

Y'know my first reaction to the Minecraft movie after learning the plot was "Oh! This is gonna be just like that Minecraft book that I read when I was a kid (The Island by Max Brooks) where a real life guy is thrown into Minecraft and everything is blocks and he's blocks and he learns valuable survival and life skills — just like in the game!"

trans rhaenyra au, you've already seen my bulleted list about it, so you know most of my ideas already, but for context for anyone else reading this: tldr is rhaenyra transitions in order to be accepted as heir and bc she is actually nb and happy to present as a guy, daemon is their donor so their kids still look like them combined, but 1) convincing people she's a cis man is equivalent to the difficulty of the bastard boys in canon (but with equivalent support from viserys!) and 2) they keep having girls. (using she/her for rhaenyra for clarity in this post but i think in the au it’ll actually be he/him)

trans helaena is making me crazy because like. okay. so i've thought a lot about them having all cis girls before because i think it would cause problems and i love to cause problems.

so, before i got this ask, @littlewitchbee brought up that bc i had helaena as the eldest that puts her in the position that rhaenyra was in to begin with/the position she's in canon and frankly, it would suck! i don't want that for her and i think neither do her parents!

whether or not she's trans, i think it's very important to rhaenyra that as someone who got to diy her heir experience she wants her kids to have that freedom too. so if a cis helaena really really doesn't want it, she wouldn't advocate for it, she'd name her second daughter who hopefully DOES want it (@summerwoodsmoke suggested visenya !!!) and i love that idea also

now. if she IS trans. rhaenyra transitioned in order to become a more acceptable heir. if her daughter wants to transition, and get out of it, she's going to let her. and she's still gonna (hopefully! i guess at this point visenya's personality is essentially oc so i can decide lol, but) have a second child to name anyway. but.

otto hightower did not have any issue with his daughter marrying the prince. he did not LIKE that daemon was their sperm donor but he did like that it got hightower blood in the line of succession, and he supported them the whole time. if his only chance at putting a hightower boy on the throne was thwarted for reasons of she is not actually a boy i think he would be very upset.

the thing is. alicent in this world has a partner who supports her. in this world, she has someone who stands up for her, for their children, and that means in this world she gets to tell otto to fuck off. i imagine her saying something like, "your only concern is for the ascension of your grandson, you've entirely failed to consider how badly you're hurting my daughter."

anyway yeah i think rhaenyra would be a GREAT dad. i think she's a fantastic mom in canon and i think that coparenting would be great for them and help alicent break the cycle in general <3

also i think rhaenyra should have a sword.

Buffy was ALWAYS the rebel slayer who didn’t follow the rules and got into trouble - FUCKED THE SOUL OUT OF A VAMPIRE AND HAS DIED FOR CHRIST SAKE and lived on her own in LA for several months supporting herself and escaped a hell dimension and they fucking changed her into a goodie goody who dresses like a church mouse in order for her to actually contrast enough with faith when those changes make zero fucking sense given everything she’s been through and everything they established about her in the first two seasons!!!

God how the fuck can you attribute characteristics of the main character to a character who hasn’t even shown up yet. That is just the dumbest interpretation I’ve ever fucking seen. I hate season three for so many reasons but the main one is what they did to Buffy’s character in order to make the faith storyline as “her shadow self” make any sense.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again it would have been so much better and made wayyyyyyyyyy more sense if Buffy had become the “bad slayer” after helpless and they had kept kendra to continue to contrast buffy as the “good” aka rule following, council obeying slayer

The thing bout me being so fixated on The Cursing of Château Castle is that in order to understand and fill in the blanks of the setting the story was written in, I first have to understand isat's world itself. But thankfully being a mhyk fan as well, it prepared me for the worldbuilding that isat has because it's around the same level with each other. By that I mean that some concepts in isat isn't built the same way those concepts are in reality, which are commonplace. Like, Vaugarde is a country whose belief system is centered around Change, so change craft is an integral part of it but in Ka Bue, its belief system is centered around Expressions and change craft is illegal in it cuz of its "unknown limits." But it Is still possible to find places that knows change craft if you know where to look (something that Odile knows of too).

Meanwhile The Country's belief system centers on stars and space, in which case no one else other than those that knows of the belief can fully understand what stars and the objects beyond the sky are. Their knowledge of it are surface level basically, also something to note is that whenever Siffrin says "stars," it seems to be said in the language, or remnants of the language of The Country considering that Isabeau had to ask around what "stars" mean but it also is pretty clear that stars is part of the Vaugardian language and is something commonly known as the flickering lights in the night sky.

So basically, commonplace concepts in reality isn't as common nor does it even exist at all in the isat universe. So we go back to the setting of which The Cursing of Château Castle is possibly written on, clearly it's set in a place were castles are common, which means that there's a high chance of it being set during the medieval times of isat. BUT! Due to the way isat's world is built, that "medieval time" isn't something that can be based off of the way it worked in reality. Especially considering the fact that isat's world is already somewhat set in older times by the fact that modern technology isn't a thing that exists in it (such as phones).

And that the medieval times in reality is rife with a Lot of Problems but those same problema are already dismantled and might as well cease to exist with the way isat's world is built so the problems during isat's medieval times differs by a Lot. So in order to pinpoint and approximate What problems continues to exist in those times within isat and what other problems became a thing in regards to the changes of concepts and belief systems of isat's world.
