summary ~ its one of those days when you just don’t feel like a good enough hero and you’re doubting your ability. but don’t worry, shinso knows how to make his kitty feel all better.

a/n ~ wrote this instead of working, anigomi shinso asmr inspired me to write for the cutie.

shinso had just come home after a dinner with aizawa, he hollered down the hallway that he would be taking a quick shower before he’d join you on the couch to watch another episode of your drama. he was finished in about 10 minutes, walking out in matching cat pj’s you brought for the both of you on valentines day and a towel over his lavender hair. he rubbed his eyes and walked into the living room, calling out for you. “y/n? where are you kitty? i’m done with my shower so are you ready to watch?”.

no response. 

the silence and your lack of presence signalled to him that there was something wrong. something he needed to take care of as your boyfriend. shinso knew that when you were upset you would run into the bedroom and hide in your blanket fort, cuddled up against your white cat, flakey. your muffled sniffles confirmed his worries, and it guided him into the bedroom. 

the sound of a blocked nose and rubbing of tears from your cheeks seeped through the covers of the blanket. he lifted the covers up and snuck himself into your fort. “there’s my precious kitty..” he cooed into your ear, pressing his forehead onto yours and cupping your wet cheeks in his cold hands. you were trying to hold back your cries, but when shinso wrapped his arms around your waist it all came pouring out like a river. a river of emotions. the feeling of not being good enough. never being good enough. 

“hey, hey it’s okay sweetheart, just let it out. i’m all ears for you, promise.” he spoke gently, trying not to shake you up anymore than you already were. he tightened his hold on you, and that brought you great comfort. you felt safe. 

“i- i just don’t... don’t feel good enough shinso- not a good hero..” your words were scattared, your tears and heavy breathing created pauses for your emotions. it hit hard. it wasn’t easy to admit that you also had the thought in your mind, overthinking the idea for the past few days. you had worked so hard to become the best hero you could possibly imagine, being in the top 20 was a miracle in itself. needless to say it didn’t come without hard and disciplined work, training and motivation.

shinso had watched you fight for your dream, chasing the stars and the planets to become the hero you’ve always dreamed of. the air was dampened, shinso’s sadness came from the fact you couldn’t see yourself the way he did. his love was at first admiration. great admiration for the hero who was the top student of UA and now climbing the ranks of the hero world tirelessly. he pulled down the fort, unwrapping himself from you and pushing you back so that you were staring face to face. shinso’s purpose was to make you loved. to make you safe. and seeing you belittle your own efforts broke him. “y/n you’re all wrong, so very wrong.” his eyes were firm, the same way his words were, the same way his grip on your shoulders were.

“you’ve worked harder than anyone else i’ve ever known, and i’ve watched since day one. i won’t let you look down on yourself and disregard all your efforts. you are the best y/n. there is no better, you are the most amazing, selfless and beautiful hero ever to have stepped foot into my life. hell, you’re the most amazing partner i could’ve ever dreamed of.” his words were magical.

words that untangled the knots of thoughts in your pretty little head. words that lifted your hearts into the horizon of happiness and love. and those words came from shinso, who’s always been by your side. who will always be by your side no matter what. flakey purred, curling into your lap and snuggling into shinso’s sweatpants that you had stolen. “shinso...thank you handsome, you always know what to say when i’m down. how do you do it.” you let out a soft giggle as you wipe away any remains water marks on your cheeks. your cute yet stupid giggle was all shinso wanted to hear. he wanted to hear you happy, just like his pretty kitty cat deserved. 

“i’ll always be here sweetheart, not getting rid of me that easily.” he smirked, pushing his lips on your head and laying you down on the bed. “lets get some rest y/n, it’s been a long day and you deserve some good rest.” you nod whilst snuggling into the warm covers and relaxing your head on your fluffy pillow. shinso slides in next to you, putting his arm out so that you could lay as close as possible to him. he knew he’d have a sore arm the next morning but that didn’t matter. all that mattered was you. keeping you warm, safe and close. 

“night night shinso...~”

“goodnight kitty cat, sleep dreams. and y/n, you’re more than enough.” you’re laying on his arm, head buried in his chest and hands wrapped around his neck. he nuzzles his lavender head onto yours, placing another gentle peck on your head before the both of you drift off to sleep. in the comfort of one another.

him bringing her shiny rocks and little trinkets he finds during the day and leaving it outside her door with a sticky note saying ' :) ' and no one knows she has a whole box for them under her bed

him being completely inlove with her beauty in a way that makes her blush and squeal and run to rora after getting a response to a photo she sent him who will gasp and squeal with her as cumulus runs onto her bed and kicks her feet and rory is actively aw-ing at her summoning buddy and cir walks in and can't even pretend to be mad that the new summon is seducing her lover because the way he's going about it is so adorable

her kissing over his scars and insecurities and calling him beautiful

he comes to her a couple nights before they start touring and he admits that he's terrified he'll do a bad job at replacing aether and that everyone will hate him (im sorry but theres no phantom ghoul thoughts without a sprinkle of angst) and she listens and comforts him and he sobs so hard he accidentally sends out a massive wave of quintessence (his magick acts up when he feels strong emotions!! topside things xx) that makes them both go a bit silly and they're lying on his bed giggling over some dumb photo of a pufferfish and swiss walks in like because he smelt the magick and he's so confused

cumulus and swiss known as the 2 ghouls who serenaded the new summons before anyone else could (they OWN the title.)

him killing 3 birds with one stone and coming into the girls den with 3 roses in his mouth

aurora and phantom are more ghoul-like/animalistic than any of the others so cumulus will walk into her room to find a nest on her bed made of everyone's clothes and duvets and blankets and sheets etc etc and look inside to find the 2 cuddled up, kneading at eachother, tails intertwined, purring very loudly and when they smell her their ears immediately perk up and they let out happy ghoul noises and drag her in to do their ghoul loving ghoul ritual

he panicked so much when he first got his claws stuck in her gorgeous hair that he almost started crying because he thought he'd 1. hurt her and 2. be the reason she had to cut some of it off but she hushed him and called mountain who giggled at his reaction and got a whole kit from the kitchen - this happens all the time. none of the boys can help but appreciate her cloud like mane of hair

they have the best nonverbal communication. (they communicate mainly in ghoul noises and she understands his confused head tilts nearly as good as swiss can, but no one can beat rora)

aeth got then matching pj's because he's a cutie and phantom refused to take them off until she politely told him he smelled like shit

them baking together and him being covered in flour

aether, mountain and swiss all pampering her like the goddess she is and phantom finds them and feels left out so aether shows him a few quint tricks that has cumulus asleep in minutes and phantom just sits there playing with her hair as she snoozes feeling so proud of himself

lus having to go to the library alone one day after there was an incident with dew and a few of mountains potted plants and phantom immediately jumps at the opportunity and follows her around the library for wayyy longer then she's normally there and she's just handing him books that she thinks sounds good and he's carrying every single one because he wants the praise (he's so real)

him seeing lus at one of the many balls held throughout the year and even though his date is aurora, he's completely gobsmacked at her dress and just everything about her but aurora totally agrees so they just kind of admire her from afar

[-> Lyney is also similar to BootHill in the fact he encourages your little stunts and shenanigans but is also probably significantly more subtle about it and a little bit more concerned than BootHill is - that much is probably due to his siblings Lynette, Freminent and Father despite Father's claims of them being strong enough to fend for themselves he probably still worries greatly

[-> He's a magician so he's always trying to make up new tricks to impress the crowd and by extension impress you at every chance he gets so he figures, why not make it a competition, in these he's normally a lot more ridiculous and often throws out ideas that wouldn't be feasible just to hear your opinions and probably, if he thinks both him and Lynette could pull it off, would fully back your ideas - maybe he'll even make you a little special seat in one of his next perfomances

[-> After you two get together and he trusts you a decent amount I feel that he would let you know he was with the fatui, about father, and about what he and his siblings do - he doesn't expect you to get involved in what they do, frankly he doesn't /want/ you to get involved, but he feels like there shouldn't be secrets between the two of you after that long if being together and he doesn't want enough time to pass that's its be impossible to drop a bombshell like that and still stick together

[-> On that note, he almost didn't approach you, at least not in the context he ended up approaching him - Lyney is a magician and that requires a certain degree of masking and charisma and mystique, however that doesn't make him immune for falling for you, but due to the nature of his work and what had happened when him and Lynette were just children, it brought the question if he really wanted to risk that by involving somebody else he had grown to care about? Eventually, Lynette actually was the one who ended up promoting the two of you to meeting - having most likely done it through a magic trick that wasn't scripted into the show

[-> He loves teasing you about your height despite the fact he's only three inches taller than you, and as far as he is concerned it's even better because you're the one generally considered a tease and he's generally considered a flirt - he'd dangle a rainbow rose over your head asking if you could reach it and when you finally do would dramatically lean down just to end up giving you a peck on the lips before going about his merry day. He also may have slipped a little 6 of hearts into your sleeve when handing you the rose but that's nothing he's going to admit to. (I love the number meanings I swear it's so silly)

[-> Trust me also when I say that While Lyney doesn't mind the mornings nothing is better than getting to wake up with you and he /knows/ your the best version of yourself when it's morning so instead of being his usual over-the-top self he'll bring you books and..whatever Fontaines version of Manga is, if there even is one in actual Teyvat lore, I'm not really sure. But rest assured he's doing the most almost every morning to try and make them even slightly more bearable for you, no, he doesn't hear the end of it from his siblings either

[-> Also in going back to him being a magician, I have a ever so slight incoming that he'd be better than most at reading emotion and gauging how far along that emotion is - so - even in the context of you ended up being emotionally unavailable but still wanted to be with him, while it would 100% put a strain on the relationship I do believe he'd try and help, maybe hed bring you to Freminent for guidance or if he really doesn't know what he's doing he is nowhere near above not bringing you to Father, especially if the case is where you want to feel but just can't bring yourself to do so

morgan and mav will go outside in like 7 layers of clothing, jackets, scarves, hats, etc. and then you have maise and midsy with just a single sweater on. morgan and mav can never have too many layers on in the winter, they are as covered as they can be

morgan loves to match with her babies 🥹 she was already used to buying two of each for her and maisie and now she gets to add a third for mav. it's so bittersweet watching them grow bc she wants them to stay little forever but she also adores the little humans they're turning into right in front of her and jake

maise and jake are outside playing and she's a girl who loves a snack, so she brings her bag of cuties outside with her. when she goes to sit and grab one she knocks the bag down and narley is sitting there mouth watering, ready to swoop in and clean up the oranges if maisie doesn't start moving a little faster

they're taking their trip to get their christmas tree, morgan and mids each having one of the kiddos in their arms as they weave through all of the other families. jake's got maisie who is fighting to get down while maverick is chillin in his mamas arms looking at all the trees

mav is the cutest, squishiest baby ever. even though morgan and mav don't like the cold, morgan still likes to take him for walks when it's not absolutely freezing to give him a change of scenery. he likes it for a little bit, but then she looks down and he's staring up at her like this and she sees his rosy little cheeks and nose and decides it's time to head back home and snuggle up by the fireplace

yes, morgan is posting this to show off her cute as fuck family, but she's also flexing her sexy as fuck husband carrying their two adorable kids around - as part of her quarterly reminder to the girlies that jake is very happily taken - it's also her quarterly reminder that everything works out in the end and things may have been rough when she was 21, things are so much better now, she's got her perfect guy, two amazing children, and the best support system she could ever imagine

morgan loves benny and brynn so much!!! she loves that her and maeve figured everything out with their relationship, that maeve and matt were able to have these two perfect twin girls, and her sister is finally getting to be the mother she's always dreamed of while she gets to be the best auntie

they're celebrating the holidays at the middleton's, maeve wanted to get out of the house and knew if she needed anything, morgan would have it at her place, but they're outside playing with mav and mais while the twins are taking a nap. morgan is trying to tell maeve to take it easy, but she feels good in the moment and wants to play with her niece and nephew, she does in fact regret this in about 20 minutes and needs to rest

the midsy's have a family tradition where they all get matching pjs on christmas eve to wear that night and then they spend the next morning in them. it goes all the way back to morgan and jake's first christmas together, morgan very sheepishly asked jake to match and they've done it every year since. as their minnesota family expands so does the tradition, brock and nurse join one year, then maeve and matt, and eventually benny and brynn too

it is a very long night. jake "jokes" that they should lock maisie in her bedroom. they try the "santa won't come until you're asleep" but that doesn't work. they eventually nestle her in between them in their bed and practically squish her between them so she can't get up again, until she does at like 5am and then she's squealing "santa came!! mommy santa came! daddy wake up" and jake and morgan cannot coax her back into bed for some more sleep

Jax Barmen!

He's a super cute cutie and aside from his role in the story being related to the researcher who initially discovered 4th Dimensional beings (no, that's not a big deal in the story). Jax serves as the groups researcher.

He's extremely intelligent and enjoys theoretical research. Being a senior in high school, he has plans to go off to college and become a theoretical scientist.

Jax is also the pretty/popular boy of the school. Everyone loves him because he's personable and friendly. Jax is my sweet boy who tries his best to make sure the girls and women around him are taken care of and comfortable, and anyone else is met with nothing but kindness. I don't even think it's possible for him to even have bad thoughts.

Jax is also kind of the dad of the group being able to settle everyone down when they're feeling stressed or anxious about something. Outside of that, Jax often is the reasonable one of the group being able to make rational decisions and account for what they should or shouldn't be doing.

I actually just made this drawing randomly and it's not based on the excerpt. Here, Jax and Cassie are essentially having a sleep over where Jax is going to teach her something she's interested in. They're so cute too, they're suppose to he wearing matching PJs ☺

Also, his hair is different because I'm very bad at drawing 😄

It was now silent in the car, Jax got to a stop light and spoke to the pair.

“You guys are arguing about this? Have either of you thought about the actual situation?”

Larson looked at Jax. “You must want to die.” Larson threatened. “I am thinking about the situation.”

“No, you’re only thinking about disagreeing with Cassie because you believe she’s wasting our time. You have yet to say any kind of idea you have.”

Larson looked off and let out an audible sigh.

Cassie smiled. “Yeah, at least I’m trying to come up with something!”

Jax looked back at Cassie. “And you are deciding things without concern about consequence.”

Cassie shrunk under his voice. “But I-”

“I know, Cassie, you think this will be good. So I have to ask you, why is it good?”

Cassie sat back. “Because… we’ll get to have allies if we help them?”

“That’s a good reason, but here you miss a major point—we could also find out more about rifts. If they know things we don’t then it’ll only benefit us, but at what cost?”

Cassie was going to say something, but remained quiet.

So Jax continued. “We don’t know if they’re stronger than you guys and they very well might be. So maybe next time just say you have a good idea and we can go from there…” Cassie pressed her lips together. “And Lars, maybe don’t doubt Cassie for every little thing she does. Have some faith in her gut choices and listen to her suggestions, but I agree with your concern. This might be a huge waste of time, but I believe we’ll get something out of it and that’s worth the risk.”

The silence continued after he finished talking. The frustrated pair sat with his words without a single retort. Eventually, when the light turned green, Jax started to drive again.

Larson let out a sigh and spoke. “Besides sounding like a parent who’s scolding his children, you…have a point,” Larson began, “but what are we even going to get from this?”

“As I said, we may be able to learn more about rifts. As well as other species that might exist within them.” Jax stated calmly.

Larson sighed. “Fine, we’ll consider taking this guy down…”

“Alright, we’ll go from there.” With that Jax ended the conversation...

Fun fact: his design still isn't what I want, but it's close enough that I'm willing to settle for this. Jax also does his own hair and at one point, I added a scene where Cassie doesn't know how to give herself cornrows and Jax helps her 😊
