imagine the whiplash of seeing percy and annabeth being affectionate with each other around camp after watching them beat around the bush for four years. you see annabeth working on her blueprints or some shit. and percy walks over to her from the nearby field. you're fully prepared to see them skirt around their feelings like usual. and then get taken aback when annabeth flirts with him like she enjoys watching the tide in his eyes change color. so captivated by the sea she'd willingly drown in. and percy just smiles and blushes, and stares at her with love in his eyes, not even daring to hide it. he kisses her on the mouth afterward like it's as easy as breathing and says something about meeting by the lake after the campfire. and you just have to reevaluate your outlook on life over the next few weeks.

Date Idea

We buy one of those old scales, ya know…the ones with a weight limit that we both currently surpass. 

We each take a turn being weighed on it, hearing it creak and whine. The mechanical display wailing and grinding as it is overloaded.

The dial spins past the “250lbs MAX” mark, no problem for either of us, and the balance won’t reset to 0. Probably my fault. Oops. 

Then we both try and stand on it together, all squished up on a small little square pad. 

It cracks. The casing begins to shatter. Springs cinch up and gears bend, teeth breaking off. 

One of us loses our balance and has to step off, but not before it breaks entirely. The scale can no longer hold itself together and flings parts across the floor. It’s now a junk heap. 

We were too massive for the scale. We weighed too much. We were too fat. 

Our love was too heavy.
