Yknow what's really good and angsty?
A flashback Adam could have just before he dies (or gets captured by the Galra) and it goes back to the fight he and Shiro had over Shiro going on Kerberos. Like perhaps days before Sanda approaches Adam and proposes that Adam threatens to end it with Shiro to maybe keep Shiro from going.
Adam refutes this idea because he wants to support Shiro even if it means they don't have long together when he gets back.
Sanda then threatens Adam's rank. Seeing that is being futile, she threatens Shiro's rank as an officer. That gets Adam. Sanda promises to make Shiros life hell once he gets back.
So Adam agrees. Because he knows how much being a pilot means to Shiro and he doesn't want to see what Sanda will do to either of them.
The dreaded day of the argument comes.
Adam doesn't win at all. Shiro is adamant about going and just lost it all because of Sanda.
Then shortly after the launch (because yes Adam went he's going to support Shiro no matter what) Sanda pulls Adam into her office. Adam confirms that he did threaten their relationship yet Shiro was adamant on going.
Sanda is upset by this because she thought losing the love of one's life would make them reconsider. Adam pleads that he can leave the Garrison as long as Shiro can keep his position. Adam pleads that since he did try to keep Shiro from going and Shiro still went Shiro shouldn't pay the price.
Sanda says she will think about it and that infuriates Adam. Before he can do anything Sanda dismisses him.
Adam leaves angry. Outside he sees Keith in the waiting chairs. Because the young teen was curious to see Adam and Sanda together and he overheard everything. While he was mad at Adam for breaking up with Shiro he's even more pissed at Sanda and wants to hit her. Adam stops him. They spend time together but it's not easy. Both grieve privately while trying to be strong for the other in front of people.
Kerberos is then declared a failure and Adam breaks down. He cries in front of Keith for the first time in a long while because he lost Shiro twice. Both blame Sanda thinking that she sent a secret team out to Kerberos to make sure Shiro doesn't come back.
In the following days Keith gets expelled. Sanda says that Adam cannot have any contact with Keith.
They still do via walkie-talkies or private phone calls because Adam buys Keith burner phones. Adam visits Keith at the shack. Sanda tries to make Adam stop but since she can't prove that it is Keith Adam goes out to see or talks to she doesn't have a leg to stand on with Iverson taking Adam's side. Even the entirety of Garrison engineers take Adam's side (because they all know it's Keith and dislike Sanda and loved Shiro, Matt, and Sam) that she has to step down.
Adam comes to whispering "I'm sorry" he means I love you.
Adam is the last person the Garrison hears.

Asking about your VLD rewrite
Blessed be the anon that reads my tags. 🙏
SO,,
Tumblr media
First and foremost, black Paladin Lance endgame. Klance endgame. Shiro and Curtis endgame, but Adam is alive and we give Curtis an actual personality and character arc. Allura's not dead, Lotor is good, probably something about whatsherface (the witch).
Alright alright alright, SO,,, Lance is the youngest of his family. His family that suspiciously looks like the other paladins. So in this rewrite, Lance is used to being the mastermind and the scape goat. Siblings want cookies? Lance makes a plan. Mama catches them? Lance takes the dive. You know. Real leadership qualities from a young age.
Cut to the first episode. Lance takes the dive for him, Pidge, and Hunk flunking the flight simulator. Iverson still compares him to Keith. We then cut to Lance at the shooting range, absolutely killing it (so his sharpshooting doesn't come so out of left field). Boom, Veronica's there to give him a pep talk. NOW we can go back to later that night, Lance trying to cheer up Hunk by sneaking out, coming across Pidge yada yada yada.
We're rescuing Shiro now. Keith doesn't remember Lance which INFURIATES him, and we'll learn several seasons later in a flashback that Lance started the whole rivalry to keep Keith out of trouble. He was getting into too many fights with James and was going to get expelled, but Lance, who looked up to Shiro, knew how important Keith's success was to him, so he steps in to play a role. To divert Keith's attention and keep him from fighting James.
And Keith doesn't remember him. AFTER ALL HE DID FOR—
Anyway.
Blah blah blah, Pidge wants to leave, Pidge decides to stay, "PIDGE IS A GIRL?!" Spoiler: Pidge is a transgirl. Later that night, Lance goes to Pidge's room to apologize, that he shouldn't have reacted that way. And is it really okay to keep calling her Pidge? What?, she says. Well, says Lance, communal showers at the Garrison... He just doesn't want to use the wrong name. Pidge tears up. No no, that's just a nickname Matt gave her, but... It wouldn't hurt to call her Katie every now and then. Tearful hug. Big Brother Figure Established.
Alright, I'll be honest, I do not fucking remember a lot of vld. So, uhhh...... skip skip skip, fuck it, we'll keep Shiro clone because it aids one of my plot points. Oh right, Lance has a recurring dream of walking down a hallway with doors on either side and an open door at the end. When he was younger, he'd meet a man in that room, standing in front of a floor-to-ceiling window looking out into space. Now he reaches to open that now-closed door and is awoken by another paladin. He's sleepwalked into the Lions' docking bay. This keeps happening.
They decide to try out for Black's paladin, Lance sits in there too long, a feeling right at his finger tips but just out of reach. Black still appears to choose Keith.
Blah blah blah Lotor And The Ladies™️, Shenanigans™️, Shiro's suddenly back, Keith absolutely fucks off, Pidge goes looking for Matt and doesn't find him. Wholeass thinks he's dead (finds the grave) and we're going to sit with that trauma for a while, fuck you. (he's not dead, but I want this plot point to actually MATTER and not be resolved in 3 seconds).
Keith finds Krolia, AND WE'RE DOING TIME/GRAVITY CORRECTLY GODDAMN IT. So Keith is MIA for months. Voltron hasn't heard from him, the Blades haven't heard from him, but he eventually gets back and he thinks only a few days have past. BECAUSE IN INTENSE GRAVITY TIME MOVES SLOWLY FOR THE PERSON BUT LONGER FOR THE OBSERVER, FUCK YOU!!!!!
So he's NOT "mature" or "grizzled" but he's fucking mad. Gets back and still shoves Lance aside (Top Ten Anime Betrayals) and just wants to get down to business. He's brought a rando Altean with him, I straight up forget her name so we're calling her Blondie. They found Blondie in the whats-it-called, same as before. But she's the only Altean there and she tells them what Lotor's been up to (that's weird. that's SUSPICIOUS). Lotor suddenly goes coocoo-bananas and they fight, have a clone fight, why not.
Mostly the same, yada yada... While it pains me to still destroy the castle and have them get time warped 3 years, that part was Good, Actually. Terrible, worst writers you know made a good plot point. :/
Anyways, Keith's been jumpy and jittery, like he's waiting for something, and then it comes out that he was missing for MONTHS. What? No. He was only gone a few days! He had visions of the future even! .......The mental link. Connected. A handful of times. He was not seeing Future Visions, he was witnessing Current Events. Shiro had a complete breakdown, Pidge lost (and eventually found) her brother, Lance fucking DIED and he wasn't there for any of it. Here you go, Keith, have a crisis. Reevaluate some shit and FUCK YOU you aren't magically two years older.
We also learn that what limited Mother-Son time he and Krolia had in the void place, he learned how and why she went to Earth, how she met his father, and the real reason she left (surprise! he has a twin and it's Acxa). And he still gets Kosmo. Because puppy.
That Thing with Big Butch Lady and Red Lady, except Red Lady For Real dies and that thing that happens in the final season actually makes sense now. Lance is feeling fucking useless and can feel his connection with the Red Lion dwindling. Stuff stuff stuff, things things things... Interpersonal Drama comes to a head in the gameshow episode. Lance doesn't bomb the Name-That-Alien game—he gets too mad to say Rolo fast enough, No he can't name every masked generic Blade, and he refuses to deadname Pidge/Katie. The question at the end becomes not who should leave, but who should STAY? If they can all pick someone to stay, the rest can go. The others all refuse to vote because the power of friendship no one left behind or whatever. Lance votes for himself. Because this is a war. You put your best soldiers forward. The others are shocked! Blindsided! Bob grills him--is this really what you want? Lance responds by saying not voting is like a vote for everyone to stay. Bob gives him a knowing and confirming Look. So yes, Lance chooses to stay.
Lance gets zapped away and the others get a Stern Talking To. They come back to their Lions to find Lance in a panic on the comms. Confused and Scared and Alone. Everyone chimes in all at once, Kosmo zaps Keith over to Red (and then every one else). Hugs, apologies, healing. Boom, the Lions turn back on and we're back on our way to Earth.
We're back to Earth, Lions tucked away on a moon. Adam's alive! Joyous day—oh shit he is PISSED at Shiro. Not the warm welcome he expected. At ALL. In this version, Adam is not a fellow pilot, he's a medical officer, and Dammit Jim! he's not just anyone's doctor, he's your doctor, Shiro! And his boyfriend! And Takashi "Give Me Glory or Give Me Death" Shirogane ignored Dr. Boyfriend's strong medical advice to NOT FUCKING GO ON THAT MISSION. So sure, he's happy to seem him back and alive and well, but since he's okay, Adam's going to be mad at him. Because he thought he'd died! For years! And how could he do that to him?! They will continue to fight for the remainder of the team's time on Earth.
We're also introduced to Curtis who, no shit, in canon, was the comms officer that reached out to Matt for Mr. Pidge's Dad (I don't remember anybody's name, sorry). And if the jury will recall, those open communications are how the Galra located Earth. This man is bearing the guilt of the entire invasion on his shoulders because he made those transmissions. And he and Shiro get a bunch of scenes together to develop their relationship.
Stuff happens, blah blah blah, hey remember that scene in canon? Where they call their Lions and they all appear lickity-split? Except, in canon, Red doesn't respond to Lance right away? And he nearly dies? And it's never fucking explained? Well it's getting fucking explained now. After all that jazz, while they're recovering, Lance confesses what happened with Red to Keith. Keith already knows. Because Keith called Red. And it just confirms to Lance that he's lost his place on the team. That with Shiro back to take over Black again, he's not needed. He decides to leave the team, but he hasn't told anyone yet.
Anyways, I know I haven't been talking about Allura. That's because I've forgotten all the things I wanted to do with her, but her and Hunk have been having their own solo adventure stories and developing their character arcs this whole time too, just don't ask me what that is. They're important. They're not just the love interest and comic relief. But I'm clearly here for Lance content, so...
Post-battle, ready to go back to space. Pidge makes that comment about the cartoon, how Keith and Allura get together. Lance has an irritated only sort-of reaction. Hey, it's their last day on Earth. The others think they're all leaving tomorrow (Lance still hasn't told them he's staying). He invites Allura to have lunch with his family, since she doesn't have anyone else to spend this time with. She declines, she and Blondie are doing research on that Altean-slash-battery person. That's fine, he understands. He runs into Keith. Keith? What're you doing here? Why aren't you spending time with—shit, not family but like....Shiro and Adam? Keith laughs awkwardly and talks about how those two are still fighting and no thanks, he does not want any part of that. Lance invites him to lunch with his family.
Remember all those soft looks Keith always gave Lance in canon? That amounted to nothing? Well here's some more, and they actually mean something now. And My God, does Keith eat up being in a large chaotic family setting. It's like all he's ever wanted was to be surrounded by people that love him.
Anyways, nothing explicitly romantic happens, but on their way back (there's a big going away party at the garrison), Lance finally confides in Keith that he's not leaving. Keith.exe stops working. And while he's having this mental meltdown Lance asks him not to tell the others, that he wants to tell them himself at the party. Keith respects his decision.
At the party, he decides to tell Shiro first. And boy howdy is Shiro blasted. Absolutely smashed off his ass. Lance gets to have a conversation with a way-too-honest drunk Shiro. Firstly, he and Adam officially broke up. Because duh, Shiro's going back to space and that was Adam's ultimatum. Hence, alcohol. Second, when Lance tells him he's not leaving, drunk Shiro gets really emotional for some reason and starts apologizing. Apparently, when Keith made fighter pilot and Lance didn't, that was Shiro. Lance was supposed to be promoted (Keith's issues with authority were holding him back), but Shiro, as a high ranking officer, overruled that decision. He goes on to talk about how he projected onto Keith. That he saw himself in him, and he wanted to give this kid every opportunity that Shiro wouldn't get because that disease or whatever was supposed to put him in an early grave. He projected all his dreams onto this gifted orphan kid, that he never really considered what Keith wanted. Keith didn't care about going to space or being a pilot, he just wanted to be somewhere where he belonged, where he could help others. He never wanted to be leader.
Shiro takes a big chug of booze.
Black chose Lance. When he was stuck in the astral plane, bound to the Black Lion, Black tried to choose Lance and Shiro overruled that decision. Just like he overruled his promotion in school. Because Shiro wanted Keith to have what Shiro wanted, everyone else be damned.
Lance is shocked. He doesn't know what to think. Is he mad? Is he relieved?
Sidebar, bc idk where else to put this, that hallway dream I mentioned before? It was Lance connecting with the Lions. When he goes into any other door he has a moment of, Is that Allura? Oh wait, it's his sister Rachel on the beach they grew up next to. Is that Pidge in the garden? No it's Veronica. Etc etc. And each time Lance will say he wants to stay there with his loved one. They smile sadly, tell him they'd love for him to stay, but he doesn't belong there. What I failed to mention before is that we actually see Lance pilot every Lion at some point. Blue and Red sure, but Green to save Pidge and Yellow when Hunk was in danger. Lance can pilot every Lion. Here's that twist: Lance is Voltron. There is no Voltron without Lance. Here's where we loop in why his siblings look like the other paladins--because it's Lance's connection to them that makes them paladins. It's their dynamics. Lance could technically deem anyone worthy to be a paladin, but unconsciously or not, it's all him. Allura was meant to have Blue right out of the gate. Because Lance can connect to any Lion, that's why he was able to pilot Blue at first. But there was a communication error, and Allura called Shiro the leader, and because Lance agreed and looked up to him, the Lions accepted it too. It's not until Shiro "dies" and gets tied to Black and fucks with everything that that connection is disturbed. Why that door in his dream is suddenly closed. Shiro overruled Black and the Lions sent Lance to Red since Allura was always meant to have Blue. Lance could pilot any of them but he's meant to be the Black Paladin.
Anyways,,, so drunk Shiro spills the beans, Lance takes his rightful place as leader and Keith goes back to the role that most befits his fucking character arc--support. Right hand man. Not the leader, but the one that's going to jump to help before anyone else. Fuck you, LM and JDS. And like, Lance the Strategist and Fuck You he was the de facto leader when Kuron was melting down and Keith was MIA anyway and he was GOOD AT IT I AM OWED FINANCIAL COMPENSATION—
Anyway.
Have I ever mentioned how I’ve only watched the final season once? In a single sitting? At midnight on my birthday when it was released in 2018? So my memory is foggy but my anger is real.
Surprise! Blondie is actually witch lady! (Which iirc was an actual twist in the original 80s cartoon). And psych!! It was HER altean death camp all along!! Lotor had nothing to do with it and she used her magic to make him lose his marbles and fight them! And god help me I cannot fucking remember what her canonical villain plot even was, so maybe she still went crazy and did some stupid multi-dimensional bullshit to get her family back. So then why kill Lotor before? Right, because he founded the Blades. He’s thousands of years old, and from a relatively young age was against the way his family was running things, so he started the Blades. He and Acxa were working undercover during all that s3/s4 nonsense. Witch lady finds that out and perceives it as a betrayal. Kills him, wants to start fresh with a younger, more impressionable son.
Again, she nearly fucks all of existence but the gang stops her just in time. Allura tries to sacrifice herself but free-from-quintessence-poisoning witch saves fuck that, you’ve lost enough. And cleans up her own damn mess her own damn self.
Universe saved, galra home world unfucked, lotor no longer a quintessence mummy, but no Altea. Altea is GONE but galra world was mostly still there. A bunch of alteans-in-hiding finally come out of the woodwork, and the ones from the quint farm are free. Blondie is still not a real person, though.
The lions do not fuck off to god knows where, allura is alive, lotor is at her side, and that ties up all the main threads or whatever, and we get to end with universal peace and the defender of the universe is still out there doing good, dismantling the remains of the empire which, without the quint-poisoned overlords, is not all that much of a dire threat. They’re still an empire that’s done war crimes, but at least there’s no more giant monsters, y’feel?
Oh right, I’m missing a part in the middle—remember that alt dimension episode in like s3? With evil alteans? Yeah that, but with explicit Evil Quint-Crazed Immortal Allura and Resistance Leader Lotor. Like. Explicit foreshadowing. It’s also meant to bridge the gap of Allura making peace with Keith being galra and the start of keith being vulnerable around Lance, so.
It’s been 5 years and I’m still mad, but it’s been 5 years and my memory is not so great so ta-da, that’s the gist of my fuck-you-Lance-is-the-main-character rewrite. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Once Bitten, Twice Stupid prt 162
162
Keith didn’t know what it was, but he just had the feeling something wasn’t right. It’d formed in the pit of his stomach until he was completely distracted by it. Staying to help the Garrett’s clean up the garage, Hunk drove him back home a little before five, teasing him over his absentmindness and the few small mistakes he’d made. Hunk’s teasing should have been annoying, still, Keith kind of felt better for it. They’d grown so comfortable around each other that they’d progressed into that side of friendship. Keith not hesitating to tease Hunk back just as a bad over the way he’d turned into a stammering mess when Shay had dropped by with muffins.
Pulling up at the house, Keith let out a long sigh of relief. He wanted a hot shower and to scrub his hands within an inch of their lives. Plucking leaving and gravel out the cold puddle where the pump was blocked had left his hands kind of gross. Both silently mutually agreeing Hunk would come in, they climbed from the car, jogging up to the front door as the rain started spitting again. Opening the door, Hunk let out a gasp as he stepped back with his hands raised. Rieva and Matt were both standing in the entrance area, both in their wolf forms and both looked ready to attack with their razor sharp teeth bared at them.
Rieva was the first to relax, shifting to her human form without caring she was very very naked
“Rieva!”
Hunk let out a strangled kind of groan as he covered his face
“Argh! You... you’re naked why are you naked?! Clothes. You need clothes!”
Keith nodded in agreement, his gaze on his feet. Stupid werewolves and their “pro-nudity”. Rieva huffing at the pair of them
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know who it was”
Yes, well, okay. She could shift back now, or at least find some modesty
“You do know! Put some clothes on!”
“Stop yelling. I’ve finally got Lance calmed back down and I don’t want the pair of you riling him up”
Keith’s brain blanked the fact Rieva was naked as he raised his head, then quickly used his hand to shield his eyes. Sniffing the air, Keith smelt something sweet lingering. That bad feeling in his stomach, dropped as if he’d missed the bottom step in a set of stairs. Moving on instinct, Keith strode towards the living room, jogging once he reached the doorway. Lance was curled up with Kosmo by his side, his boyfriend’s scent screaming at him
“Let him rest”
Rieva was between him and Lance in an instance. Lance’s scent should have set off the pair of werewolves. They should have called the moment Lance got upset
“Rieva”
“Keith, let him rest. I only just got him calmed back down”
Yeah. Good for her. Lance needed him and they all knew it. Resisting the urge to shove Rieva, because he wasn’t that stupid, Keith grit his teeth
“He’s upset! I can smell it. He smells like he’s in heat. He’s upset and not just a little bit. Fuck, I knew something was up”
“He’s resting. He needs his rest”
“Then let me take him up to our room”
“I think here is the best place for him”
“Ummm. Guys... Maybe we can talk about this?”
Matt sat near Hunk who’d taken half a step away from him. The poor guy had limited wolf experience with Matt and Rieva in their wolf forms
“I am sorry, Hunk. It would be better if you went home for the day. I need to have a conversation with Keith”
That was obvious. Rieva was on edge. Her posture stiff. Something big had happened, but that didn’t mean Hunk should be sent away
“Hunk’s Lance’s best friend... You don’t have to send him away when he’s worried for his bud”
“I’m right here... Rieva, it’s okay. My sisters came today. To ask for Mami’s rings back...”
Both? Both of them... here... in their house. What right they did they have? What bullshit had they stirred up? Did Luis come too? More importantly why hadn’t Lance reached out?
“Why didn’t you call me?”
“There were things that needed to be said”
Rieva sighed. Keith really, really wished she’d put clothes on. He’d be hearing it from Matt over looking at Rieva naked
“They brought the police with them. Lance was too kind to them both. I don’t care for them and I have warned them not to return here”
“Rieva, can you and Matt please go get dressed already. Keith, come sit down. Hunk, you can stay too if you don’t mind monopolising Keith for a little bit”
Hunk came over to them, stumbling as he tried not to look at Rieva
“Dude, I might go for now, but we’ll talk right?”
Lance nodded, holding his arms out for a hug which Hunk was happy to provide. The two besties hugging each other tightly
“Thanks, man. I’m okay. Rieva’s just being a bit overly protective and territorial. Want to come over for lunch tomorrow?”
“That’ll be great”
“Perfect. Bring Shay too, if she can come. I love you, bro”
“I love you, too. Let me know if you need me to bring anything”
“Just yourselves. Better message the gremlin too”
“I’ll talk to Pidge... but... uh... we’ll be wearing clothes tomorrow, won’t we?”
“Yeah, clothes will be worn. Rieva’s been back and forth between forms. She’s lucky it’s too horrible outside to kick them out”
“You wouldn’t anyway”
Lance snorted
“No. I wouldn’t. I’ll see you tomorrow”
“Sure thing”
Being Hunk, Keith was also hugged. Hunk giving him a look that said he expected an explanation yet was glad to be escaping way too much nudity and Rieva’s wrath. Keith wished he could take Lance and run from her too. He wasn’t equiped to deal with Rieva when she was acting this protective, also, it was his job to protect Lance and his job to be there for him. Rieva had done enough.
With Hunk taking his leave, Keith manhandled Kosmo off of Lance’s legs to sit beside his boyfriend. Lance as cute as ever as he sank into him
“You smell”
Maybe not that cute. No. He was cute, and also definitely experiencing heat like effects from the run in
“That happens when you spend the day playing pool boy and unblocking the damn pump. Do you want me to shower?”
“Not yet...”
Kissing the top of Lance’s hair, Lance nosed into Keith’s chest
“Okay. Are you okay? Did they... What the fuck happened?”
“Can you guys give us a little space? I know you’re going to hear us, but I need to talk to Keith and my ego is setting us all off”
Rieva gave Keith a nod
“I’ll leave him your hands. We’ll be in our room, come, Matthew”
Matt obediently trotted off, Rieva walking out behind him. Kosmo didn’t know what to do with himself. Patting the space beside him, Kosmo jumped up to lick at Keith’s face
“Stop it, you. Lie down already”
“Let him be. He missed you”
“Tell him that. God, those paws of his...”
Kosmo was best boy, until his paws went places paws really shouldn’t
“Kosmo, down!”
Jumping off the sofa, Kosmo huffed at Lance, then laid out on the floor in front of the sofa. Keith already knew Lance wore the pants in the relationship, but damn if Kosmo wasn’t as whipped as he was
“You’ve got him trained”
“Nah. He’s just happy to have you home. We both are”
Kissing Lance’s hair again, Keith nodded as he did
“I’m late again”
“I’m okay now. I’ve had time to... calm back down”
“Babe, I can smell you. You haven’t calmed down, plus, your sisters came”
“They did. Luis called the cops over Mami’s ring. He couldn’t come near me, shot himself in the foot taking out a restraining order”
“So he sent Veronica and Rachel to do his dirty work”
Lance sighed heavily, far too heavily for Keith’s heart to bare
“No. I mean, yes, but no. I had a panic attack after they left, but I also got to say a lot of things I wanted to Vee”
Veronica being called “Vee” seemed intimate. That his sisters came and that Luis was still harping on about Mami’s ring was ridiculous
“They shouldn’t be dragging you in”
“I was mad, but I know the police. Pidge didn’t always get all the permissions she needed, but they’re solid. I was mad and then I kept thinking about it. I don’t think Vee... I don’t think she wanted to antagonise me. I think she... I think she actually wanted to hear about Mami’s last days but didn’t want to go against Luis. I think maybe if I were to talk to her, that maybe she wouldn’t ignore me”
That went against everything Keith thought he knew about Lance’s sibling dynamic
“That’s...”
“Surprising. I know. Rachel still hates me as much as ever. She was the one who came, Rieva kept her eye on her. She also asked them to leave”
“You didn’t?”
Lance had the habit of having to talk... but to talk to his siblings who’d treated him so cruelly over the years, that must have really fucking sucked
“I did but Vee needed to hear what I had to say. I think she... when they left... I fell apart again. About never hearing from them ever again. I know I’m not making sense. I told them to forget me and to be happy. Them knowing everything would only hurt them more. I keep... I keep trying to cut them off. To move on. I can’t forget what they did and I can’t forget the times when we were happy. I heard so many stories in Cuba that I felt kind of reconnected with them again, but they don’t want me”
Taking Lance by the chin, Keith tilted his boyfriend’s head up
“You’ve done more than enough. You’ve given more than you have to give. Anyone would understand if you threw them out without a second thought”
Keith would have. He’d never hit a girl who wasn’t a supernatural being, yet he sure as heck would have lost his temper at the pair of them for using Lance. They were lucky to have left before he came home
“I couldn’t do that. They’re Mami’s children. I don’t know what the next step is. I told Vee I’d send her some photos from Cuba. With everything happening I never got Coran to look at my phone. I just... I wish it didn’t have to hurt this badly. I’m meant to be relaxing ahead of our trip to see your dad”
Their three day trip. Lance asked if he’d wanted to go for longer, Keith didn’t want to stray too far from home too long in case there were complications with Lance’s pregnancy. He, Shiro and Lance were going. Krolia... he wasn’t completely sure on. That afternoon had been so long and so much said. Curtis’s demon issue had been pushed back, Coran having to recalculate the new best day which fell late in March, though there calculations and all kind of stuff that went over Keith’s head. All of them wanted to push the trip back for his sake, yet Curtis refused, Lance upset for his friend. Now they’d be leaving on the 5th of March... as a solid maybe with a more than likely yes unless they changed plans again which could happen seeing their group chat was filled with plans. Theoretically if Lance was to go into labour during their trip there was a chance the twins would survive, none of them wanted to take that chance though. February really needed not to be ending so damn fast.
“My dad would rather you be safe and everything be alright”
Keith hoped so at least. They seemed to be the right words as Lance gave him a soft smile
“I hope they’re okay. I want to bake as long as possible before popping”
“I know. But we need to be as careful as possible. I really wish you’d let me take you to Coran”
“And I really wish you’d fuck me on the sofa”
Lance blinked at him. Keith blinking back. Okay... Here he thought Lance was settling, but that would be a big fat nope
“You’re having symptoms still”
Lance blushed hard
“I didn’t... fuck. I’m sorry, that just slipped out. Babe, false contractions happen. It’s not a medical emergency you need to rush me to Coran in the middle of the night over”
“I’m allowed to worry”
How was he supposed to know the difference between something like that and something serious? He wasn’t the one who was pregnant. He wasn’t the one who’s body could turn traitor. All he could do was worry
“I know you worry. You’re right. I am. It was bad before. My ego set off Matt’s and Rieva’s, serving to upset mine further. The fact I told my siblings to forget I exist and to never come back... I can’t believe I said it. I felt alone again. It’s so stupid. I have more of a family in you and our friends than I have with them. Rachel seemed ready to puke over my pregnancy. Vee barely seemed to care. She even asked me if you hurt me, like she cared”
“I don’t know what to say about that. Is your heat bad?”
He didn’t know how to “biological sibling”. They were weird. Shiro was weird enough as I was. Lowering his gaze, Lance mumbled
“It’s not great. I’m sure it was affecting Matt and Rieva. Honestly my head’s such a damn mess. I’m horny as hell, and content now you’re home. It’s embarrassing”
“You can’t control it. Plus, I’m sure Matt and Rieva wouldn’t mind taking a half an hour drive”
“I’m not throwing them out my house. That’s mean. All they did was try to comfort me. Rachel didn’t know where to look when Rieva turned back and she was all naked”
Keith definitely felt he was owed some form of compensation for having to face a naked Rieva
“I didn’t know where to look. I didn’t even want to look. If they’re affected too, maybe they should go work it out elsewhere... somewhere they won’t have to listen to us?”
“Babe... It’ll pass”
“We both know sometimes it doesn’t and you’re left on edge like this for hours. Being intimate isn’t about you being in pain over something that you don’t have control of”
Lance snuggled into him, hand dipping between Keith’s thighs suggestively
“I love that you love you. But I can’t kick them out”
“Then we’ll just have to be quiet”
“Nope! We’re going! Save your horny!”
Dragging Rieva along, Matt yelled at them as he stuck his head in the room. Lance couldn’t have been more embarrassed if he tried. Rieva finally had clothes on, explaining
“Sorry. Lance’s scent set our egos off, he’s right. Lance, enjoy your heat, Keith knows I will break him if he hurts you. We’ll come back after dinner with Pidge. I think that will be best for all egos”
Lance’s tone wobbled as he replied
“I’m sorry, guys. Thank you for being here today. Egos can be a total pain in the arse”
“We’d never hold this against a pack member. Matthew, let’s go already”
Left alone, Lance sighed at him. Clearly a disappointed sigh
“I can’t believe we kicked them out so we could have sex”
At least they’d left. When he and Lance couldn’t leave they had to pull out their noise cancelling headphones or risk hearing way too much. Keith wasn’t so much concerned with having sex as he was worried about Lance being stuck in a state where his body wasn’t listening. Lance would never push sex on him, and Keith was only human. A human with a high sex drive for that glorious arse, even at the worst of times
“Actually I kind of wanted to kick them out sooner so I could talk to privately about your sisters. I smelt you from the doorway. All afternoon I felt like something was wrong. Hunk teased me about it”
Instead of laughing or snorting at him, Lance raised an eyebrow
“Babe, would you rather talk about that or go have a shower before you have your wicked way with me?”
“I’d rather make sure you’re doing okay mentally before pushing anything physical”
“I’m better now I’ve calmed down and thought about it, but I’m also wet as fuck and trying to cope with that too”
Keith groaned at Lance. He was trying to give his boyfriend the out if he felt he needed it
“That’s not fair”
Lance fell silent for several exceptionally long moments that made Keith feel like maybe he’d done something wrong or Lance was worrying about him not being in the mood and felt the decision forced
“Babe?”
Lance sucked in a shaky breath
“You’re... you’re my family... right?”
“Oh, babe. Of course I am. You’re my family. You, our boys, my family”
“I love you so much, Keith. So much. I’m sorry I didn’t call, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind when they left. Plus you saw how protective Matt and Rieva were. If something happened to you, even by accident...”
“Nothings going to happen. I’m going to take a shower and then I’m going to come back and make you feel amazing”
“I’d like that. And cuddles after?”
“As many as you can stand”

Note
Au where Lance was separated alone at the end of s1 (and also without Blue). And it's been long like 2-3 years (and 2-3 weeks/months cause uhhh space time shit) and Lance comes back with scars and maybe a missing limb only to find there has been infighting and separation and fuck all and guys please it's been a really harrowing long ass years, you all are tearing the family apart
You know I actually kind of had a similar idea to this like a while while back.  So I am going to take some bits and pieces of it and adapt it to this!
Also this is long...so more under the cut!
So at the end of season one when all the Paladin’s fall out the Castleship and wormhole, Lance ends up just in a random spot in space, though unlike Pidge there is nothing around him at all.  Blue shuts down because of everything, so Lance is just...stuck in open space.  But he does decently try to problem solve to one get a line of communication with someone, or two get Blue up and running.  He knows some minor engineering stuff, cause it’s standard for all pilots to have basic understanding of how to fix things on their ships.  Blue being a alien ship with a conscious, throws a wrench in that a little, but Lance still tries.  And he is very careful to stay close to Blue at all times, and have some kind of tether connected so he doesn’t float off into space as he works.  He is doing all he can...which...admittedly is a lot of begging Blue to just wake up, because like she isn’t an Earth ship he knows how to work with.
But as he works and tries different thing, suddenly the middle of nowhere open space he is in...just like...cracks open.  And it’s happens to so when Lance has untethered himself to move to a different spot.  Meaning he gets sucked right in, before he can grab on, and his jet pack is too weak to fight the pull.  (Blue doesn’t get sucked in because she is too big).  Lance get’s sucked in to the cracked, and dumped into a sort of pocket dimension.  It’s this crazy forest alien jungle like place, filled with, as Lance quickly discovers, lots and lots of dangerous things that have it out for him.  And the crack pretty much immediately closes behind him...leaving him stranded.
For a while (like the first few months), Lance main goal is to get out of there or get communications going.  He finds a lot of things from other alien ships that have crashed there, no other friendly life-forms though.  And he does what he can, and working out the best plan to get out there.  But as time passes, and passes, and the tally he makes in his tree top base group to being uncountable...Lance shifts more to just surviving.  Try get communications to work less and less, and he stares at the sky less and less.  Why do the same thing that does work over and over again.  And he just tries to survive.
On the other side of things, it doesn’t actually take the Paladin’s terrible long to find Blue Lion once Allura rescues everyone.  They track Blue’s signal to the spot in middle of no where space.  Coran gets a little freaked out, because it is actually a section of space where ships are known to just go missing and no one knows why.  Aka...the space Bermuda Triangle.  So the Paladins find Blue, but no Lance.  Like there is just so signal of him, his suit would still have enough enough power to broadcast a single, no matter what.  But there is just nothing.  And Blue refused to leave the spot she is at, and is just sort of staring out into one fixed point is space.  And all the Paladin’s sort of have this scenes. of “We can’t leave this place.”  Like it just...feels wrong to them, so they stay as they try to figure out what happened to Lance.
A few days pass, and suddenly like the point in space that Blue Lion had been staring at opens up.  Like tears open, and everyone just kind of stares at it.  Coran and Pidge taking readings and scans off it, cause like they have no clue what it was (and maybe it would explain what happened to Lance.)  It stays open for like an hour or two, then it starts to close.  And as it starts to close, a tiny little ship...thing, comes shooting out, and Blue Lion moves for it.  Suddenly Lance’s Paladin Armor signal is back up and running, giving all sorts of damage and other readings, and Blue returns to the Castle.
Everyone rushes to Blue’s hanger, just as she sort of spits Lance out.  (Not really, he kind of stumbled out and collapsed into a roll in relief that his plan worked (or you know maybe he’s dead)).  Everyone kind of cautiously race towards Lance to where he was lying in a heap on the floor.  Because his armor looks like he has been through some stuff...like a lot for the maybe week or so that he has been missing.  And Shiro is very much picking up on the fact that they need to not completely rush Lance.  But as they approach, Lance slowly shits up, and turns around...and...
Holy quazinack, he has scars that are visible healed and old looking.  And he’s thinner, in a way that was both clear he had been stranded for a while...and like he aged a bit.  Also one of his eyes is completely messed up, and is missing his whole left hand.  And he looks pissed as hell as he gets up to his feet.
“It’s been years, and you guys just now decide to save me.”  He spits out angrily as he sort of stalks forward with a pretty visible limp.  And everyone is confused, because it’s been like maybe two weeks, what the hell is Lance talking about years.  They had only been there for like eight days since they found Blue lion.  What in the world does Lance mean...years.  However when Shiro asked, it just kind of makes Lance bit more angry, before he drills in the point that he was trapped in the place for like three years, trying to get out, or get a communication line, and trying to just survive, and barely managed to escape through the crack in the sky that was only open for like a handful of seconds.  And Allura is quick to explain, no it’s only been like a couple of weeks, and the crack had been open for a few hours...and...
Coran quickly jumps in a loud statement of “pocket dimensions!”  And how that was probably what Lance experiences, and how it was a (conspiracy) theory as to what happen to this area of space.  That there were pocket dimensions slipped into, and disappeared.  And because they were little random pockets, the rules of physics and speed of time might be different in them.  They open up occasionally to release energy build up, and suck in new matter partials to keep existing.  Explain that must have been what Lance experienced, and that they should really get him to a healing pod, to get fixed up and make sure there aren’t any adverse effects.  Coran quickly just sort of guide Lance away before anything else can happen, and helps get him into a pod while everyone follows behind them.
Form there everyone kind of gathers themselves, and figure out what happened.  Coran runs all sorts of scans on Lance while he is in the pod, that was actually working hard to fix what it could. (It couldn’t fix of a lot of Lance’s old scars and injury, but works to realign bones that healed wrong when broken, and fixed his joints and limp.)  Finding that yes, Lance actually had aged a few years, and experiences a different flow of time.  Allura runs some quintessence tests, to realize Lance had experience something different than normal.  While Pidge and Hunk pour over the reads from the crack the opened, to find some stuff that didn’t exactly align with stuff they know about science.  Shiro and Keith help out where they can.   All in all they figure out that yes, Lance experience something all together different from their universe.
They all try to put together a presentation to explain to Lance once he gets out of the healing pod.  Lance is a bit better when he get out, though still a bit hostile and mad that it took so long to get rescued.  Everyone presents what they have to him as he eats a meal Hunk made for him.  It is a lot for Lance to take in, and he does have some trouble letting go that he was abandoned for so long, because it’s just so hard not to feel that.  Even knowing he was experiencing time a different rate.   But he goes to room and rest and just try and readjust.
It takes a while for things to even out and sort of “go back to normal”, but it does eventually happen.  Not without a few bumps in the road.  Lance had some abandonment issues that surface from time to time, and become rather use to fighting for himself.  Not to mention a whole a lot of trauma that happened to him, that he doesn’t talk about much.  Sometimes Lance will just seem to snap over nothing.  Everyone does there best to adjust to him, and be what he needs, and make it know they would never abandoned him.  They kind of make sure he is never alone on a mission for too long.
And yeah...

HP Voltron crossover?
When Harry went to Hogwarts there was a group of ghosts they were..... strange to say the least. No one only a few ghosts knew their names, and they wouldn’t tell a single soul their name’s. They went by Paladins of the colour of the lions that followed them, the sixth went by advisor and the last Shiro but no one could find their names in history books. A group of seven, five followed by lions.
The lions had a ghostly hue with a bright colour emanating off of them.
Blue, Green, Red, Yellow, and the assumed pride leader, Black. Black was the biggest followed by Yellow, then Blue, followed by Red, and finally Green. Each followed a ghost with mysterious ease, sometimes looking at people if considering them for something but never deciding.
They each stayed at a table two at the Slytherin table, one of which had the Paladin name of the Red Paladin he was with tall and lanky with freckles covering his body, short hair, a few big scars, and rumour had it that in life he had beautiful eyes that seemed to hold an entire ocean, he appeared to wear a long cloak with robes underneath along with some armour, the reputation he carried for being a massive flirt was no lie he would flirt with any year seven even went after the Blue and Black Paladins -he failed with Blue not Black- he also bore a marking of what appeared to be a bruise of a rope on his neck. The Red lion would follow him around purring and nudging and -rarely nipping- for attention. The other a smaller person half the time you could here them teasing each other, she had short hair that makes her look like a boy, she also bore similar scars but had less as if protected or missing during all the important battles, she wore the same outfit as the other Paladins. Her own lion would stand there and observe with here for what appeared to be hours on end. From what Harry had learned from Hermione -who had been told a bit by the Green paladin for her amazing aptitude for knowledge- she was the youngest Paladin.
The Slytherin’s had bragged at least several times that both of their Paladins were pure-bloods, when the Paladins found out the Slytherins ended up having a very large mess in their common room for seven months, they never did it again.
On the other end of the spectrum at the Hufflepuff table were two resided.
The Yellow Paladin and the Black Paladin.
The Yellow Paladin had a bandana wrapped around his head, short hair, he had a smile on his face all the time except for when he was worrying, the fact that he had some scars but not as much as the others, he always had a spark in his eyes at the feast, he would help the house elves cook, you could always tell when he did everyone went hard on grabbing as much food as they could. He was quite chubby though no one said it aloud apparently, one year someone called him “fat” the Paladins made that person suffer for the rest of their time a Hogwarts. The Yellow lion would follow purr nudge and listen to his rants about the food. The Black Paladin was the second smallest of the group with a mullet -as of from the 80s though probably much, much older-, he had eyes that would slit and glow yellow when extremely mad, there was a scar that went up his left cheek down his neck, some people say Shiro gave it to him then it was debunked the fact they are half brothers, to quote Ron “no one in their right mind would maim their sibling” Shiro had looked so ashamed as Ron said that, when he wouldn’t come to dinner the Red Paladin or one of the others -most of the Red Paladin- be playing with a small cat most people theorized that he’s an animimagi he denied as the black lion just rubbed her face against his hand.
Whenever Slytherin and Hufflepuff had a quidditch match or one was beating the other at the house cup it seemed a flare was sparked between the Red and Black Paladins that had many insults thrown and often the Green Paladin would scream at them to “SHUT UP AND KISS ALREADY!” to which a truce came into existence to bring down the Green Paladin. To which they would kiss over her head and at the same time ask if she was happy now? The answer would always be “it was worth it” or “put me down or I’ll skin you two dead!”
At the Ravenclaw table two people sat there the ‘advisor’ and the Blue Paladin or Princess, they had somewhat of a father daughter relationship.
They had bright hair and two weird markings under their with pointed ears.
The Blue Paladin had a crown with long flowing hair her cheek markings always glowed a bright pink, she wore a dress and a cloak cut of at the elbows she had a hole in her stomach an assumed stab wound, she could so regally like royalty which she apparently was it made total sense she usually was the peace maker between the Paladins, she and the Blue lion would often mother the rest of the Paladins and lions -except for the Blacks that was the Reds job- but would not hesitate to tease them, all of the Ravenclaws respected her who wouldn’t she’s smart intelligent and beautiful, also because boys fell at her feet. The advisor had blue markings, with a fancy suit -”not this century!” “Ow you’re kidding me Black” “none of us are!”- he often would speak in charms and potions on things that only the Flitwick and the seven years -Hermoine and a couple Ravenclaws- could understand, he would also spout things like Yalmors and Weblums along with balmarans, no one except the other Paladins, Luna, anyone who read the Quibbler, and Dumbledore would understand.
The last Paladin was Shiro he had a scar right across his nose and his right arm was missing no one knew how but then again no one knew much about them. He was the Black Paladins half brother and now and again you would see him leave the Gryfindor table to talk to Hufflepuff Paladins other times all the Paladins would sit a table and just talk.
The last thing Harry expected to find when he was looking for a place to host the D.A. meetings were the two of the Paladins laughing and talking.
“Keith ha! we are definitely gonna win against Hufflepuff!”  “What makes you say that Lance? You gonna cheat?” He saw the Black Paladin - no Keith- talking to who he assumed was Lance.
“No I’ve already got the most competitive Hufflepuffs head out of the game.”
“Really?” Keith said raising an eyebrow.
As he watched Lance lean down and kiss Keith. Harry almost immediately backtracked walking out of the room. Two thought repeating in his head ‘nope nope nope’ along with ‘I know to Paladins names’
Ummm sorry if I misrepresented any characters been awhile since I read Harry Potter.

Big Hero 6/OUAT AU
Okay guys--so I worked this whole big AU up in my head while I was at work today, inspired by @honeyxmonkey ‘s Tangled the series OUAT AU and @greensword101 ‘s accompanying ask to me about Fred finding Hiro and giving him a hug once the curse was broken! Now, sadly I think I accidentally left my page of notes at work, or else they’re just lost somewhere in my bag, but I’m going to type of everything that I remember and hope for the best--here we go!
Backstory of how everyone got dragged into the curse: So I’m not even going to try to go into weird multi-versey type shit and try to be detailed with this but what you need to know is that Fred/Tadashi and Honey Lemon/Gogo are the main ships here, and Fred’s mom/Gogo’s parents are not happy about this, like at all. I have this headcanon that Gogo’s parents, while not as wealthy as Fred’s parents, are pretty well off (business owners? doctors? I’ll leave it up to your imagination) and are not at all happy with Gogo’s lifestyle choices/were probably emotionally and psychologically if not physically abusive to her, which is why as soon as she could she ran away to live with Honey Lemon’s family, and she and Honey Lemon eventually got together. Definitely not the match her parents wanted for her and they’re still mad that she wasn’t this perfect feminine daughter that they wanted. Fred’s mom is kind of the same way but mostly she’s just homophobic as shit and also wanted to marry Fred off to some rich girl like her and Fred’s dad’s parents did to the two of them. When it came down to choosing, Fred’s dad chose his son over her and divorced her, so she’s pissed because of that.
Moving forward before this gets too long: Long story short, Gogo’s parents and Fred’s mom kind of knew each other from moving in the same social circles and when they somehow find out about the curse (which wasn’t going to hit most of San Fransokyo, if at all) they either go to Regina or (more likely) Rumpelstiltskin and make a deal so that they can get not only themselves and their families pulled into this other world where they can have the lives that they wanted, but also pull in the friends and other people who encouraged Gogo and Fred to be themselves and “punish” them for what they did.
Characters Involved and Their Lives After the Curse:
Fred (new name: George): Engaged to Gogo (a match set up by his mom and Gogo’s parents), his dad in the cursed world doesn’t even fight his mom on things so he had no one to teach him to fight for himself and so he’s just sort of letting life get away from him and hiding in his fantasy stories and comics to escape reality.
Gogo (Edith): Engaged to Fred, never actually rebelled and never ran away from home so while she’s still got her fighting spirit on the inside it’s mostly been stamped out and she spends her days going to social events she hates and acting like she’s the perfect daughter she isn’t.
Honey Lemon (Heather): Works in an overly busy dress shop trying to earn money for college but is so underpaid she barely makes rent, let alone being able to save anything. She does all the tailoring on Gogo’s dresses and other clothes, including working on the wedding dress (which Gogo’s mom is never happy with, she’s probably made fifty dresses by now.) She and Gogo are secretly having a bit of a relationship (fitting rooms = closed doors and privacy with limited clothes for at least a short period of time) but no one can know. (More on the relationship below.)
Wasabi (Darnell): Honey Lemon’s roommate. Also trying to earn money for college (also failing at it), he works cleaning Fred’s family’s house--he’s great at the job because he’s so detail and cleanliness oriented, but he hates being around any germs, and the biggest part of the curse for him is having to clean Fred’s room.
Hiro (Nico): Hiro is a foster kid being “raised” by a horrible man named Montel (a.k.a. Yama) who forces Hiro into stealing things for him to “pay his keep” (and Hiro has the scars to show what happens if he disappoints him.)
Aunt Cass (Rachel): Works as the cook of Fred’s family, Fred’s mother delights in ordering her to make ridiculously elaborate and detailed meals, whether they have company or not, and then criticizing every part of them. Rachel would probably leave except she has a young son, Max, to look after and she can’t afford losing a job and having him taken away from her. (Red herring name alert: Max is actually a human version of Mochi, but if I ever turn this into an actual story it will be fun to throw people a bit off the trail! Also the reason Fred’s mom pulled Aunt Cass into this is because she felt Aunt Cass encouraged Tadashi and Fred to get together, being bi herself, and so she has an especial and very misplaced hatred for her.)
Tadashi (Shiro): Tadashi was found on the outskirts of town unconscious and covered in horrific burn scars. No one new his name except a few letters on a very decayed medical alert bracelet that looked a bit like Shiro (Tadashi Hamada--the “H” and “a” were pretty smeared kind of looked like “r” and “o”, the rest were completely illegible, so they guessed a bit on his name.) He was put in the hospital and put into a medically induced coma while he continued healing. When Emma came to town and time started moving again, Tadashi recovered enough for them to wake him up, but he has no memory of who he was or who his family was, and as his burns were still very severe and had gotten infected he’s still in the hospital for a very long time. (Explanation for Tadashi being alive: back in BH 6 world Fred’s dad, being a superhero, rescued Tadashi but since Tadashi was in such bad condition was still trying to get him back to being stable before letting anyone know that he was alive in case he didn’t make it. Fred’s mom did not count on this being a factor when she made the deal!)
Baymax (Mike): Baymax is a nurse in the hospital where Tadashi is being kept--in Once Upon a Time fashion, he did become human once in our world (I imagine his appearance being a lot like Aziraphale’s, only his irises are dark brown/almost black.) Another glitch in the curse (this time a literal one): even though Baymax’s memories were changed/rewritten for the curse, as a robot his system had backup storage for his memories. Robot brain being combined with a human brain was not quite compatible, so Baymax still talks/moves a bit like a robot which means a lot of people make fun of him for that, but more importantly, while he doesn’t remember everything, Baymax does have flashes of memories from the other world, and somewhat remembers being a robot. Of course anyone he tries to explain this to acts like he’s crazy so he’s learned to keep it to himself, but needless to say he feels a very strong connection to his patient, Shiro (who he at least on some level realizes is probably Tadashi), and is very, very protective of him.
(This started getting long so actual story development below the cut!)
Story Ideas:
-Fred and Gogo, while resigned to their eventual marriage, are still both incredibly gay in spite of being forced into the closet, so their general secret arrangement is that they’ll be married for their parents’ sake but both are free to privately have lovers or partners (as long as their parents don’t find out about it.) Gogo’s first choice, of course, is Honey Lemon. Honey Lemon is totally in love with Gogo, but she’s torn as to whether she’d truly be happy spending her life as someone’s mistress and not truly married to someone she loves.
-Fred and Hiro meet for the first time when Fred catches Hiro breaking into his room, having been sent by Yama to loot the house. Fred almost calls security, but he sees how skinny Hiro is and how beat up he is and takes pity on him. He wants to call CPS but Hiro begs him not to, afraid of being sent to an even worse home (he has curse memories of being in even worse homes to keep him from ever leaving Yama.) Fred would gladly try to take Hiro in himself but he’s too afraid of what his mother would say. So instead he and Hiro make a deal--any time that Hiro wants to, he can come by the house, and Fred will provide him with money or whatever else he needs to take back to Yama to avoid getting in trouble, and then Hiro gets to secretly spend a few hours with Fred, playing video games, reading comics, doing all the fun kid stuff he never gets to do at home--and of course Aunt Cass makes it her mission to make sure that Hiro always gets at least one good meal while he’s there, even though she doesn’t understand why it hurts so much to see this teenager she doesn’t even know leave to go back to his foster home.
-Hiro and Baymax meet when Hiro’s class goes to the hospital to help decorate it for the patients (remember when Henry went and met “John Doe”? Same visit, even though Hiro is of course in a different, older class and also probably in a different wing of the hospital.) Baymax sees Hiro and, with his glitchy memories of the other world, remembers Hiro, but unfortunately Hiro is only freaked out by this stranger calling him Hiro (”My name is Niko!”) and acting like he knows him. Finally Baymax has to give up on that. Still, he “conveniently” sends Hiro to decorate the room of a sleeping patient in the burn unit. Hiro is grumbling about how stupid all of this is, how decorating a room won’t really help anyone, when he hears a voice saying, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is a waste.” He turns around to realize that the sleeping patient has woken up.
The patient introduces himself as Shiro, and even though Hiro feels weird talking to this guy who’s mostly covered in bandages, somehow they end up talking all the same, and Hiro finds himself spilling his whole life story to Shiro, who turns out to be a great listener. When Hiro’s teacher tells him it’s time to leave, Hiro finds he actually doesn’t want to go! But Tadashi asks him to wait for a moment, and then pulls a small bag of gummy bears out from a bag by his bed, saying, “Here. My nurse brought these for me and I was saving them for later, but I think you need them more than me.” Which almost makes Hiro cry because he loves gummy bears but he can’t even remember the last time that he had them. (A.K.A. Hasn’t had them since being sent here by the curse.) He promises to come back to visit Tadashi as soon as he can, and he makes good on that promise. He and Tadashi can’t do a lot for each other, but they always find ways to do small things, like how Tadashi will always save the desserts from his meals to share with (or more often give to) Hiro, and Hiro will check out books from the library that he thinks Tadashi would like and reads to him. “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is a waste” becomes their motto.
-Hiro, spending time with both Fred and Tadashi, and having started seeing both of them as older brother/almost dad figures, plus eventually finding out that they’re both gay, starts dreaming of a life where Tadashi heals enough to leave the hospital, then meets and gets together with Fred, and the two of them adopt Hiro and they all live their happily ever after together. Hiro never manages to get Fred to physically come to the hospital with him, but somehow convinces him to become pen pals with a “lonely guy with no family or loved ones to look after him (he totally pulls out the puppy dog eyes guilt trip) and somehow despite anyone’s best efforts to keep it from happening, Tadashi and Fred start to fall in love all over again :)
The Curse Breaks (a,k.a. the one part of the story I actually wrote):
Hiro races towards the center of town, running as fast as he possibly could. He’d through that Montel was evil--he’d never imagined that things could possibly get worse, but when Yama’s memories had returned Hiro was pretty sure it was only the delayed shock of getting all his memories back at once that had let Hiro get away with little more than a bloody nose (and his life.) Hiro had no idea what the hell was happening--how he was here, in some town called Storybrooke and not in San Fransokyo, and how he had these two completely different lives and memories living in his head and currently at war with each other--but all he really knew is that he needed to get somewhere safe. Somewhere that Yama couldn’t find him and hurt him.
“Hiro!” Hiro almost kept running when he heard someone shouting his name, too terrified of Yama catching up with him if he stopped, but then he suddenly felt arms wrapping around him and, after a moment of struggling, he realizes that he knew the person holding him.
“F-Fred?” Hiro gasps, looking up at the older man.
“Yeah, Hiro--it’s me,” Fred answers, a look of relief in his eyes as he smiles down at Hiro.
“Y-You remember?” Hiro cries, glad that this was at least some sort of proof that he hadn’t gone completely crazy.
“Of course I do.” Fred hugs him tighter. “I-I’m so glad that you remember too, I was afraid that you might not--”
“No, I remember.” Hiro shakes his head before adding with a shiver, “A-And Yama does too...”
“Yama?” Fred repeats only to gasp after a moment. “Holy shit! I-Is that who you’ve been living with this whole time?”
“I think the answer is obvious,” Hiro answers, pulling away and gesturing to his bloody nose.
“Oh my God.... Oh my God, Hiro I am so, so sorry,” Fred whispers, his voice full of horror. “I can’t believe-- I-I should have gotten you out of there a long, long time ago, but the curse...”
“Curse?” Hiro repeats in confusion. “What curse?”
“Apparently that’s what’s gotten us all here--a curse that took us from home and put us here, and gave us fake memories and made sure that we’d all be as miserable as possible. And it’s not just people from San Fransokyo, you won’t even believe who some of the people living in this town really are...” Fred answers before adding quickly, “But I can explain more on the way--all of our family and friends are back at my house, apparently my mom and Gogo’s parents have something to do with all of us getting wrapped up in this.”
“So everyone’s there?” Hiro asks hopefully. “Aunt Cass, Wasabi, Honey Lemon?” He’d have asked about Gogo too but Fred had already mentioned her so he could only assume that she was.
“Yes, everyone--even Mochi, can you believe that he’s actually Max?” Fred laughs.
“Whoa... That is pretty crazy,” Hiro says, shaking his head, trying to wrap his head around the idea that Aunt Cass’ cat had somehow become a human child.
It was as he was thinking this over that another thought occurred to him.
“Wait, Max...” he says slowly, and then gasps as the realization fully hits him. “Holy fuck, Baymax!”
“Hiro, I-I’m sorry, I don’t know where Baymax is yet, everyone coming out of the curse has everyone pretty scrambled up...” Fred starts to say apologetically, but Hiro cuts him off.
“No! I mean, I think I know where Baymax is!” Hiro cries, tugging on Fred’s hand. “C’mon, we have to go get him!”
“...The others can wait,” Fred after agrees after only a moment’s hesitation. “Let’s go get Baymax!”
A few minutes later, both of them rush into the hospital--things were in such a disarray that they didn’t even bother to stop at the nurse’s desk, Hiro leading the way up the stairs to the burn unit where he hoped that he’d find...
“Baymax!” Hiro lets out a huge sigh of relief when he sees the man in his standard white scrubs--it was still incredibly weird to think of the marshmallow-esque robot that Tadashi had made was somehow human, but all that really mattered that he was here and that he was safe.
“Hiro!” The man turns to Hiro, a bright smile on his face, quickly putting to rest any fears that Hiro might have had that this wasn’t actually Baymax.
“Wait, that’s Baymax?” Fred cries in surprise.
“Fred, hello!” Baymax answers cheerfully, waving to him.
“I... Uh... Hi?” Fred waves a bit awkwardly.
“I’m so glad that you’re okay,” Hiro says gratefully, hurrying into Baymax’s open arms and giving him a tight hug.
“I am very well, thank you,” Baymax answers, hugging him back, before letting him go and continuing, “There is someone else here who would like to see you!”
“Someone else?” Hiro repeats in confusion. Who else could be here that he knew?
“Hiro!”
That’s when Hiro hears a voice--a voice that, even before the curse, he’d given up on ever hearing again. No. No, it couldn’t possibly be--!
That’s when he sees Shiro, sitting in a wheelchair next to his hospital bed--the burn scars had greatly changed his appearance, it was true, and his hair was a bit longer than it had been before. But there was no mistaking those eyes, or that smile.
“T-Tadashi?” Hiro whispers, tears welling up in his eyes before he could even fully process what was happening. “I-Is it really you?”
“It’s me,” Tadashi answers, looking a bit teary eyed himself, and, without even thinking about the consequences, Hiro launches himself at Tadashi, landing in his lap and wrapping his arms tightly around him, never wanting to let him go, only to find his hands wandering over Tadashi’s features--his arms, his hands, his face--trying to prove to himself that this was real, that Tadashi was really here with him. Tadashi was doing much the same, half laughing, half crying, stroking Hiro’s hair and kissing away the tears as they fell down his cheeks.
“H-How?” Hiro whispers. “How are you here? “
“I don’t know,” Tadashi admits, shaking his head.”I-I don’t remember anything that happened to me after the fire... But I’m here, and I’m with you, and that’s all that matters.”
Hiro decides that questions can wait for later--all that mattered was that he had Tadashi back.
“D-Dashi?”
Hiro suddenly remembers that he wasn’t the only one here who had a very good reason to be glad that Tadashi was alive.
“Fred?” Tadashi cries, looking up at Fred with what could only be described as joy in his eyes, and Hiro wisely chooses to move out of the way just in time to avoid being caught in the middle as Fred pulls Tadashi into a deep, passionate kiss. Maybe back in San Fransokyo his old self would have found this gross or made a joke out of it. But not anymore. This was something he’d been trying to get to happen for months, and it felt like his dream was finally coming true. Shiro and George--no, Fred and Tadashi!--were finally a couple, and maybe with this stupid curse gone, they could get married and adopt him so he could finally be away from Yama!
But wait. No, that wasn’t right! Hiro shakes his head. That was Niko’s dream, when he was stuck here, not Hiro’s dream! Hiro never would have dreamed of his older brother and his brother’s best friend getting married and adopting him! ...Would he have? More to the point, though: if a curse had somehow sent them here (and he couldn’t think of a more logical explanation at the moment), and it had indeed been broken--shouldn’t they be back in San Fransokyo? Shouldn’t they have gone back home?
Hiro feels a cold shiver pass through him. What exactly was going on here? And who would have the answers?
“I have heard that there is a relief center being set up for those who are trying to find loved ones or who have questions about the curse,” Baymax pipes up, in the uncanny way that he had of almost reading Hiro’s thoughts.
“Well, that sounds exactly like that place we should go,” Tadashi says, turning towards them, with Fred’s hand firmly wrapped around his own.
“It does--maybe then we can bring some more information back to the others,” Fred agrees.
“Dashi, is it okay for you to leave the hospital, though?” Hiro asks a bit worriedly--he knew that Tadashi had been recovering, but he hadn’t left the hospital since being here!
“I can come with to monitor his condition,” Baymax offers.
“That would be great, thank you, Baymax.” Tadashi grins up at the other man.
“You are welcome!” Baymax replies, looking pleased to be of assistance.
“Well... If Baymax is coming with us, then I guess it should be okay,” Hiro finally relents.
“So, are we ready to go?” Tadashi asks, looking first to Fred and then to Hiro.
“Yeah,” Hiro agrees, taking Tadashi’s free hand as Fred continues to hold the other and Baymax begins pushing the chair forward. “I think we are.”
As long as he had his family and friends by his side, he was ready for whatever the future had in store for them.
((Random future story bit: The group running into Yama and Baymax giving him a good punch in the nose since Tadashi can’t stand to do it himself. “I no longer have programming, so I am no longer prevented from injuring a human being :)” (Protective Baymax is SCARY AF and also totally awesome!)))

Pocket Paladin Chpt 15
Mind-Meld Memories
“Alright everyone, seeing as we have one paladin too many for our usual mind-meld training, Pidge has designed a new version of it,”  Coran said.
‘Hear that?  You’re an extra, unnecessary paladin.’
Well, I’m still a paladin, so *pbbt*.
‘Sticking your tongue out at your own thoughts?  How mature.’
“Would you care to explain, Pidge?”
“Sure.  Basically, with this new software, we can train in different types of terrain and weather, all simulated by our minds.  While in the mind meld, we will feel everything, like temperature, wind, pain.  If something in the training would kill you in a real fight, you would just be knocked out of the mind meld until the end of the simulation.”
“Cool, but how is that going to help me?  I’m still going to be 3 inches tall in the simulator.”
“Actually, you won’t be.  You can think of yourself being back at your normal height while in the mind meld according to Pidge.”  Shiro commented.
“Wait, seriously?”
“That will let you be a bigger help during training.  *gasp* No pun intended.”  Allura put her hand in front of her mouth in shock.
“Don’t worry about it, Allura.  I know you didn’t mean it like that.”
‘Are you sure about that?’
“You said we would feel everything in the simulation.  If we get a cut during training, would that show up on our actual bodies?” Keith asked.
“No, it wouldn’t.  There shouldn’t even be any residual pain from it when you’re out of the mind meld.”  Pidge answered.
“Oh thank God.” Hunk said in relief.
“Any other questions?  No?  Let’s get started.”  Pidge said as everyone put on their helmets.
It was dark for a few seconds as the program booted up.  Once it did, Lance had to close his eyes from the bright light.  As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw that things looked smaller.  That is, they looked normal.  The trees towering over him didn’t make him feel as small as before.  When he touched the trunk of the tree, he could feel how rough it was, as if he really were in a forest.  The scent of pine was heavy in the air.  The snow *crunched* under his feet and he could see his breath.
He continued to look around and saw the rest of his teammates pop into existence in the simulation.  They were the same height as him.
“Oh my gosh, Pidge, you were right!  I’m normal size!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!”  Lance ran over and hugged the now shortest paladin.
“Yeah, yeah.  Glad you’re enjoying it, Lance.”  She responded with a grin.
No one noticed the soft, fond smile on Keith’s face when he saw how happy Lance was.
Lance let go of Pidge and was immediately grabbed in a hug by Hunk.
“Oh, I’ve missed being able to do this.”
“Same here, big guy.”  Lance hugged him back.
It’s nice to get an actual hug.  Nothing against the “hand hugs”, but they don’t compare to the real thing.  Plus with an actual hug, they’re not worried about hurting me.  Speaking of hurting me…
“Hunk, I can’t breathe.”
“Sorry, Lance!”  Hunk exclaimed as he quickly let go.
“Hey, it’s fine.  Never apologize for how strong of hugs you give!”
“This simulation is incredible,” Shiro said as he looked around.
“You can actually feel how cold the snow is,” Allura added on while sticking her hand in a snowbank.
“It must have taken a long time to design all this,” Keith commented.
“It did, but it’s worth it, right?”  Pidge asked smugly.
“Paladins, can you hear me?” Coran’s voice sounded in the comms.
“Loud and clear, Coran,” Shiro responded.
“Wait, Coran, are you in the simulation too?”  Lance asked.
I didn’t see him put on a helmet.
“No, I just get to control the simulation and see what the 6 of you are seeing,”  Coran answered.
“This isn’t going to be like when you were the loremaster during Monsters and Mana, is it?”
“I promise I won’t be as devious or mad with power.”
“Monsters and Mana?” Keith asked.
“Oh, it’s this cool game we played while you were with the Blade.  You get to create a fantasy character and go on a quest.  The loremaster lets you know how difficult each task is and you roll a die to see if you accomplish it or not.”  Lance explained.
“Sounds…complicated.”
“It’s not once you get used to it.  It’s a lot of fun.  We should play it sometime.”
“You wouldn’t even need a hologram of your character, you could be the game piece yourself while you’re like this.”
“You’re right Pidge!  *gasp* It would be just like when they played giant wizards chess in the first Harry Potter movie!  That would be so cool!”
“Didn’t Ron almost die during that?”  Keith asked, concerned about Lance.
“Yeah, but Monsters and Mana is a hologram.  Lance wouldn’t have anything to worry about.”  Pidge answered.
“Wait, you’ve seen Harry Potter, but you’ve never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy?”
“Yeah?  What of it?”
“Nothing.”
You’re a hard guy to figure out, Keith.
“Alright.  Is everyone adjusted to the simulation?”
“Yes.” The paladins chorused.
“Good.  Now, your first mission in the simulator is going to be a simple rescue, just to test the programming.  Prince Apollonia has been taken by the Morris Day 6.  You need to figure out where they took him and free him.”  Coran declared.
“Shouldn’t we be practicing fighting Lotor?” Shiro asked.
“Yes, but I need to get more data on how his team works to get an accurate model of them in the simulator,”  Pidge explained.  “Once I do get that, we’ll be able to train to fight them.  For now, we make do with generic villains.”
“We should start looking for clues as to where the Prince may have been taken.” Allura declared.
“How about a couple sets of footprints heading that way?” Lance pointed in the direction the tracks in the snow went.
“Good eye, Lance,” Keith said.
“Guess you guys can call me ‘Eagle Eye Lance’ from now on.”  Lance did his finger-gun thing.
“Nope.  Not doing that.”  Shiro stated.
“Let’s see where these go.” Hunk said as the group started following the tracks.
It was silent on their walk save for the *crunch* of the snow.  They soon arrived at the edge of a clearing.  In the center of it was a tent.  There were 5 girls standing guard of it.
“Coran, I thought you said they were the Morris Day 6.  There’s only 5.”
“Lance, use the heat vision on your scope,”  Allura recommended.
“But I don’t have my bayard, remember?  It wasn’t affected by the spell.”
“Well, here in the simulation, you have your bayard.  You’re the only one that has heat vision, so can you please use it so we can see if Prince Apollonia is in the tent?”  Pidge stressed the please.
“Ok, ok.”
Touchy.  Alright, how do I get this to activate again?
“What are you waiting for Lance?” Pidge asked.
“Give me a sec.  It’s been a while since I’ve used this.”
The bayard turned into a gun in his hands.
Ok, good.  Now how does heat vision work on this thing?  Oh yeah!
Lance looked through the scope.  “I see two people in the tent.  It looks like one of them is walking around the other one.  The other one’s just sitting there.”
“That’s more than likely Prince Apollonia,” Shiro commented.
“And the one circling him must be the 6th member of the Morris Day 6,” Allura added on.
“Only question is, how do we get him out of there?” Keith wondered out loud.
“Maybe we could do a distraction.  Divide their forces.  It would make it easier to get close.”  Lance suggested.
“Sounds like you just volunteered,”  Pidge smirked.
“I did not!”
“Mmm, you kind of did, Lance.” Hunk also smirked at Lance.
“Hey, we don’t gang up on teammates,”  Shiro said.
“But he makes it so easy.” Pidge teased.
“Just for that, you two get to go with him.”
“But-“
“No buts.”
Pidge and Hunk both *groaned* out loud.
‘They don’t want to work with you.  Working with you is a punishment.’
Lance tried to not focus on those thoughts as the garrison trio walked around to the other side of the clearing.  They let the others know when they were in position.
“Everyone ready?”
“Initiate operation lost in the woods.” Hunk said.
“~OH NO, I AM A SMALL CHILD WHO HAS BECOME HELPLESSLY LOST IN THE WOODS.  WOE IS ME.~”  Pidge yelled out towards the Morris Day 6.  “I still don’t get why I have to be the child lost in the woods.  Lance’s voice carries more.”
“Yeah, but you look more like a small child.”  Hunk said.
“I resent that!”  Pidge hissed out.
“What Hunk’s trying to say is that they won’t expect anything from you-”
“Is that supposed to make me feel better?” Pidge had a bite in her tone.
“-so you can kick their butts and prove them wrong at the same time.” Lance finished saying.
“Didn’t like where that sounded like it was going, but I like where it wound up,”  Pidge commented.
“You have to yell again, Pidge.  They’re not moving from their position yet.”  Allura said over the comms.
“Uggh, fine.  ~THIS IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO THE MARKET.  MOTHER SAID THAT I SHOULDN’T TAKE THE SHORTCUT THROUGH THE WOODS WHILE CARRYING SUCH PRECIOUS CARGO, BUT I AM SO TIRED OF CARRYING ALL OF THIS GOLD.  AND NOW I AM LOST.  WHAT IS A GIRL TO DO?  BUT LOOK!  THERE’S A CLEARING UP AHEAD.  PERHAPS I WILL FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME.  I CERTAINLY HOPE THERE AREN’T ANY THEIVES OR RUFFIANS THERE.  I HAVE NO WAY OF DEFENDING MYSELF~.”
“It’s working Pidge!  We’ve got 3 of them coming our way.”  Lance focused the scope on the approaching targets.  The 3 members of the Morris Day 6 got closer.
“Hello, little one.  You look lost.” One of the three knelt in front of Pidge while the other two remained upright.
“Oh, I’m not lost.” Pidge had a smirk on her face.  “Now!”
Hunk and Lance jumped down from their respective trees onto the two standing kidnappers.  Pidge took the last one down with an uppercut from her bayard.
“Alright!  We took care of three of them.  Let’s get the other ones.”
“Wait, I’ve got an idea,” Lance said as they looked at the unconscious members of the Morris Day 6.  “Sweater swap!”
“Is now really the time to be thinking about that, Lance?” Pidge asked.
“No, that’s not what I’m saying.  More along the lines of ‘Disguise mothertrucker!’, like that old vine.”
“Isn’t it ‘Disguise Motherfucker!’?”
“*gasp* Pidge, you can’t use language like that in front of a child!  Shiro’s only 6, you know how impressionable children are at that age!” Hunk said with mock offense.
“Really?  We’re bringing up me being a leap year baby again?”
“Can we focus back on the mission?  What were you thinking, Lance?” Allura said through the comms.
“Me and Hunk can put on these guys’ cloaks and sneak up on the other two standing guard outside the tent and take them down.”
“What about me?” Pidge asked.  “Don’t I get to be a part of the sweater swap?”
“It would look suspicious if one of the three shrunk.” Hunk said.
“It would look suspicious if only two of the three returned.”
“She has a point,” Keith commented.
“Yeah, that would be more suspicious I guess.” Lance agreed.
“Let’s grab their weapons.”
The three of them quickly tied up the unconscious kidnappers and took their cloaks and weapons.  They then quickly made their way to the tent.
“Where is the gold that child was yelling about?”  One of the two guards asked.
“What gold?  Oh, yeah, it turns out, there wasn’t any gold.” Hunk nervously said.
The guards looked at each other.
“What he’s trying to say is that it was a trap.  Some common thieves in the area looking to make a quick buck.  But we showed them.”  Lance quickly said.
“And what did you do with your adversaries?”  The guard on the left asked.
“We left them tied up to a tree.  They’ll know better than to cross the Morris Day 6 again.”  Pidge answered.
“Interesting.”  The guard on the right said.
“You sound different since you came back.”  The left guard added on.
“Oh, you know, we’re just a bit out of breath, that’s all,” Hunk responded.
“Really?  Your voice just dropped a whole octave because of adrenaline?  Is that what you’re saying?”  The right guard said.
“Yes, that’s exactly what he’s saying.”
The guards pointed their weapons at the three of them.
“You are not our teammates.  Everyone knows the Morris Day 6 is an all-female group.”  The left guard said.
“You kept referring to yourselves as male, proving beyond doubt that you are imposters.”  The right guard added.
“Oh no, how could these two have tricked me?  In all the chaos, I must have mistaken them for who they claimed to be.”  Pidge tried to lie her way out of the situation.
“You are an imposter too.  Did you think we would not recognize the voice of the one who called out?”
“Oh quiznak.” All 6 of the Paladins said in unison.  They could also hear Shiro face-palm through the comms.
The two guards began to fire at the three standing in front of them.
“We’re on our way,” Keith said as the rest of the group ran to support their other members in the field.
Lance, Hunk, and Pidge managed to avoid being shot and were able to take the left guard down.
“Leader, we have a situation!” the right guard yelled before firing once more at Lance.
Lance wasn’t able to get his shield up in time and braced himself to get hit all the while thinking-
Oh please don’t let me get hit by another weird space thing.
And he wasn’t.
“Lance?  Where are you?” Hunk looked around but didn’t see his friend.
“Did Lance get hit, Coran?” Pidge took down the right guard.
“No, he’s still there with you.”
“Down here!”
The others had joined the group at that time and looked down.
“I guess I thought myself small so I wouldn’t get hit,” Lance said.
The others started to approach but stopped when the remaining member of the Morris Day 6 emerged from the tent, holding Prince Apollonia in front of her as a human, err, alien shield.  She was holding a ray gun to his head.
“You take one step closer, and Princey here is finished.” She said as she started moving towards the group.
Lance was still slightly dizzy from suddenly changing height.  He was also on the ground in the space between his team and the leader of the Morris Day 6, who was unaware of his presence.
Keith was torn.  They had a mission to do, but if they moved, the leader would kill the Prince.  But the leader kept getting closer to Lance, and they couldn’t warn him to get out of the way without alerting her to his presence.  If he tried to attack her, she could kill the target and the ensuing fight could kill Lance.  Even though it was a simulator, Keith didn’t want Lance to feel what it was like to die.  Even if it wasn’t permanent.
Finish the mission, or protect Lance?  Mission?  Lance?  Mission?  Lance?  Why is Lance in my thoughts so much?  There has to be a way I can protect Lance without jeopardizing the mission.
Keith didn’t have to worry about that choice in the end.  The leader was suddenly flipped onto her back as she let go of the Prince.  Standing in front of her was Lance at his normal height with his right fist raised to the sky.
“And boom goes the dynamite!” Lance said.
“How did you…?” Allura started to ask.
“Oh, I just thought myself big again.  And it was so cool!”
“Yeah, and we saved the Prince.”
“I thank thee all for thy bravery and courage.  Now, I must returneth home to Lake Minnetonka along First Avenue.  I pray that we meeteth again on a better occasion.”  Prince Appolonia spoke before disappearing.
“Woohoo!  We won the simulator.”  Lance yelled out.
A red X suddenly appeared over everyone’s head.
“What does that mean, Pidge?” Keith asked as he poked at the one over his head.
“That means we failed the simulator.”
“But we saved the Prince,”  Allura questioned.
“You did, yes, but Lance cheated,”  Coran said through the comms.
“How did I cheat?”
“By changing your height at will.”
“But the first time wasn’t intentional.”
“But the second time was.” Coran pointed out.  “While in the simulator, you need to act as you would in real life, not depend on the unique things that you can do while in it.”
“I would say that I used my resources wisely.”
“Wait, if Lance can choose his height at will in the simulator, does that mean we could too?” Hunk asked.
“I don’t see why that would be important,” Shiro said.  “Lance’s cheating means we lost.  We shouldn’t cheat the system.”
“Yeah, but if we can change our heights too, we could see from his perspective.”
“So, we could see what it’s like to be tiny?”  Keith asked curiously.
“Yes, exactly, Keith!” Hunk said excitedly.  “You guys can’t say you haven’t honestly thought about what the world looks like for him while he’s like this, right?”
“It’s crossed my mind a little bit,” Shiro responded honestly.
“I already have a bit of an idea what it’s like thanks to my link with the space mice, but it would be interesting to know more,”  Allura commented.
“I’m curious,” Pidge said.
“Me too.” Keith agreed.
“Well, if we all think ourselves tiny, we could see how Lance sees the world!”
“Maybe before we do that we could get Coran to change the scenery, to somewhere more familiar?” Lance suggested.  “It might help everyone be more comfortable.”
“Just a tic.”
Their surroundings fizzled out, leaving them in a black void.  Soon enough, they found themselves in the living room area of the Castleship.
“Does this work?”
“Yep.  Thanks, Coran.” Lance responded.
“So…how do we do this?” Hunk asked.
“I don’t know.  I was just thinking about not wanting to get hit by the guns.  Maybe think small thoughts?”
“Better than nothing,” Pidge said as she and the others all closed their eyes to concentrate.
Lance soon saw his friends begin to shrink before his eyes.
“It’s working!  Keep going, guys.”
Smaller and smaller they became as they thought small thoughts.  Lance continued to stare down at them as they stopped.  They opened their eyes and shook away the blurriness of their vision.  As they looked up at Lance, they all back-pedaled, unprepared for how intimidating he looked.
Is that what I looked like that first morning when I almost… Keith thought.
“Oh my God,” Pidge said.
“Yeah, that’s intense.” Hunk commented.
“Oh, sorry.  Didn’t think about what I would look like from that perspective.”  Lance gently kneeled on the ground in front of them, though the ground still shook slightly.  “Is this better?”
The others nodded their heads.
“Is this what it felt like when you first shrunk?” Allura asked.
“That depends.  How are you guys feeling?”
“Intimidated,” Allura answered.
“Scared,” Keith said.
“Freaking out,” Hunk added.
“Nervous, but curious,” Pidge responded.
“Overwhelmed,” Shiro stated.
“Then you’re all definitely feeling what I did.  Don’t know if that’s good or not, but we all understand the situation.  Do you guys have any questions?”
“How do you handle all of those feelings?” Keith asked.
“I just try to focus on the happy thoughts and how nice it’s going to be to be back to normal.”
“Would you be willing to pick me up?  I want to know what it feels like.” Pidge asked.
“Um, sure,”  Lance said as he brought his hand down flat in front of the rest of the team.
“Is that what it looks like when we get ready to pick you up?” Hunk said with a hint of nervousness.
“Yeah…”
“Cause that’s kind of terrifying.”
“I’ve gotten used to it.” Lance shrugged.
Pidge hesitatingly climbed on his hand while Lance struggled not to twitch too much.
“Ok, I totally get what you were saying before, Keith.  It does feel kind of weird having someone climb on your hand.” Lance commented.
“Weird from my end too,” Pidge added.
“Any other takers?”
“Sure.” Hunk said as he approached the hand.
“I’m in,” Keith responded.
“Me too,”  Allura said.
“Same here,” Shiro said.
Lance brought his other hand down as well so everyone could fit on them comfortably.
“You guys sure are a handful.”  He joked as he started slowly lifting them up to the counter.
“Good one, Lance!”  Hunk responded with only a hint of nervousness while the others *groaned* at the pun.  Hunk then decided to look down as the group was carried up.  “Ok, looking down was a mistake.” He said as he scooted back towards the middle of Lance’s hands.
“Yeah, it can be a bit overwhelming the first few times,” Lance commented.
“A bit?!” Hunk looked up at Lance.
“You didn’t think I got used to it just like that, right?” Lance responded.
He was extra careful as he placed his hands down on the surface.  He stayed kneeling while everyone stepped off.  He noticed that they were shaking slightly.
“My legs feel like Jell-O,” Pidge said.
“I feel like I just stepped off a rollercoaster,” Keith added.
“Really?  ‘Cause I was going a lot slower than when I pick up the space mice.  *gasp* Does this mean they feel like that whenever we pick them up?”  Lance worried out loud.
“No, if there was anything any of us were doing that affected the space mice like this, they would have told me,”  Allura answered.
“I think it’s just because we’re just not used to being this height,”  Shiro added on.
“Just give us a minute to get our counter, err, table legs, no, umm…” Keith’s face scrunched up in thought.  “Our land legs back.”
Keith looks cute like this.  I wonder if he thinks I look cute at 3 inches tall?
‘You already know the answer to that.  No.’
Yeah, I know he’s straight.  All the girls just flocked around him at the garrison.  And he never dated any of them, which just made them want him more.
‘Remember Gretchen Smith?  And how she only went out with you to try to make Keith jealous?  How she never actually liked you?’
Yeah, I remember how she was a total Beotch.
‘But you still felt like Keith took something from you, causing you to make up this rivalry, to try to prove you actually are worth something.  But you were never good enough on your own.  Even before you were shrunk you always needed help.’
Shut up!  I’m over Gretchen, and I’m over the rivalry.  Me and Keith are friends.  I wish we were more, but I know he’s straight.  There’s no way he would ever go out with me.  That’s never going to happen!
“Lance, are you ok?” Lance realized Keith was looking right at him.
“Hmm?  Oh, yeah, I’m good.  Just lost in thought.”
Hopefully I wasn’t doing a face journey.
“You guys find your land legs?”
They all nodded.
“Yeah, but I think I’m ready to be back to normal height,” Pidge commented.
The others voiced their agreement and thought themselves back to normal.  As soon as Hunk was back to normal height, he wrapped Lance in a hug.
“I’m so sorry if we’ve ever been too rough with you while you’re shrunk.”
“It’s ok, Hunk.  Once everyone got the hang of things it’s been fine.”
“We’re all going to try and be more gentle with you while you’re like this,” Shiro said.
“I agree.  Now, thanks to the simulator, we have a better grasp of what this situation is like for you.” Allura added on.
“Thanks guys, but you’re doing great already.  You don’t have to change anything, please.” Lance really wanted his friends to stop worrying about him.
“Alright, Paladins.  I’m going to bring you out of the mind meld now.” Coran stated.
Everyone closed their eyes for a few seconds and opened them back up to reality.  They blinked as their eyes adjusted.
Lance wished he could have stayed in the mind meld a little longer.  It was nice being back to his normal height, even if it was only a simulation.
Now back to reality with tiny Lance.  Wahoo.  Can’t you just feel the excitement?  At least my floating tray’s fixed now.
He managed to hide how he was feeling from the others.
“Who’s ready for lunch?”  Hunk asked.  “I made more pastelitos for the team per Lance’s request.”
“Yes!  Thank you, Hunk!”
Winner winner pastelito dinner!
“Lunch sounds good,”  Shiro said.
“We can continue to work with the simulator afterwards,”  Allura stated.
“I’ll meet you guys in the kitchen in a bit,”  Pidge called over her shoulder as she walked towards the console.  “I’ve got some updates for the simulator.”
“This is the first time we’ve used it and it worked fine.  How can you already have updates?” Keith asked.
“Just because something works doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.”
“Alright, Shuri.”  Hunk teased.
“That counts as your final guess, Hunk.”
“No, it doesn’t.  Come on Pidge.  It’s the last day of the bet.  Let me have another chance to guess your real name, please?”
“Fine.  One last chance after lunch.  Then we’ll see who’s 20 GAC richer.”
“Deal.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It looks like the rain’s stopped,” Axha said as she looked up to the sky.
“I bet Kova’s glad it was only a small shower and not a downpour.” Ezor looked over at Kova who did not look happy to be in the rain, no matter how light it was.
Narti was petting Kova to calm him down while he perched on her shoulder.  A drop of rain fell from the thick foliage and landed right on Kova’s head, causing him to *hiss* and dig his claws into Narti’s armor.  She got an amused look on her face at this.
“How much longer do you think Lotor’s going to be?” Zethrid asked as she tried to help Kova calm down.
“He’s relaying the message to our allies on the neighboring planet.  There’s a lot of details to get down for the plan to work.  It could be a while.”  Axha answered.
“What even is the plan anyways?  Lotor hasn’t really told us much.  Maybe like 12% of the plan.” Zethrid wondered.
Narti shrugged making sure that Kova didn’t fall off her shoulder.
“The more people that know about a plan, the more likely things are to go wrong.  I’m sure he’ll tell us more when he can.” Axha said with blind trust.
“I stopped trying to figure out Lotor’s plans a long time ago.  All I heard was that we got the rest of the quintant to relax and that’s exactly what I plan to do now that there’s a break in the rain.” Ezor commented.
They continued walking through the forest until they found themselves on a ledge overlooking a lake.
“Do you think it’s safe to swim in?” Ezor asked as she looked down.
“One way to find out!” Zethrid quickly ran up behind Ezor and lifted her into a princess carry.
“Zethi, what are you doing?” Ezor laughed as Zethrid ran closer to the end of the ledge.  “Babe, stop, no, no, no!  Wooooh!” Ezor continued to laugh as she clung tighter to Zethrid as she lept off the ledge and down into the lake below.
Narti and Axha looked over the edge and saw Zethrid and Ezor resurface in a fit of giggles.
“Come on you two!  The water’s great!” Ezor called up.
Axha and Narti both took a step back from the edge.
“Do you want to go first, Narti?”
Narti pointed at Kova who was just not having it.
“Come on, Axha.”
“Yeah, stop being such a stick in the mud!”  Ezor and Zethrid continued to taunt from below.
“See you down there, Narti.”
Narti and Kova both nodded in response to Axha before starting down a path to the shoreline below.
Axha stepped onto the edge and took a deep breath.  She dove off the ledge and did a nearly perfect swan dive.
“Nice, Axha!” Ezor commented when she resurfaced.
“Show off.”
Axha splashed some water in Zethrid’s face in good fun.
“Oh, it’s on!”
By the time Narti and Kova found their way down to the shore, it was a full-on splash war.  Narti managed to find a relatively dry patch of the forest floor for Kova to lay in before joining the others.  It had been a while since they had had an opportunity to relax and they planned to enjoy it as long as possible.
Half a varga later, they were all floating aimlessly in the lake.
“It’s too bad we weren’t able to grab him before his team found him,”  Zethrid commented.
“Yeah, there was no way he could get out of that box on his own.  It would have been perfect if we’d just been a little closer.”  Ezor added on.  “Now they’re going to be more protective of him.  That just made our job that much harder.”
Narti nodded her head in agreement while Kova *meowed* back on the shore.
“They’re still going to take him with them on the lower risk missions though.  Maybe we could do something with that?”  Zethrid suggested.
“That’s what the setup on the last planet is for.  We’re going to give them a reason not to take him with them on any missions.”  Axha explained.  “That way, we can take him from the ship while the rest of their team is outside of it on the low-risk mission without having to worry about deactivating the ship’s particle barrier.”
“Why does Lotor always tell you more than the rest of us?” Zethrid asked.
Axha shrugged her shoulders.  “I’ve been working with him longer than the rest of you.”
“True,”  Ezor responded.
“Maybe we should head back to the ship.  It’s almost lunchtime.” Zethrid suggested.
“Yeah, my fingers are starting to get wrinkly,” Ezor added.
The group headed back towards the shore.  Narti shielded Kova from Zethrid as she shook herself dry.
“Uggh.  I hate how humid it is on this planet.  It makes my fur go all poofy.”
“Aww, but I love your poofiness, babe,” Ezor commented.
“How am I supposed to be intimidating when I look like a walking ball of fluff?  The other planet was nicer.  All that warmth and not nearly as much humidity as here.”
“Yeah, but at least it rains here,” Ezor responded.
Kova *hissed* at being reminded of the rain.
“I think Kova agrees with me that the other planet was better.  What about you guys?”
“I like this planet better.  You can’t exactly go swimming with that tall grass everywhere on the other one.” Ezor said.
“I like this one too.  There’s more cover with the forest here.” Axha voiced her thoughts.
“What about you, Narti?” Zethrid asked.
Narti shrugged her shoulders.
“Oh come on, Narti.  You can’t leave it at a tie.  You have to pick a side!”
Natri shook her head with an amused look on her face.
“You can always ask Lotor, babe.”
“I could, but he’d probably say something about how it doesn’t matter which planet we like better since the most important one for the plan is the next one.”
“One way to find out.”
“We can wait for him back on the ship.  It looks like another storm’s coming.” Axha observed as Narti picked up Kova and let him hide from the rain in her hood.
“Let’s see if we can beat it, for Kova’s sake,” Ezor said.
Kova *chirped* in appreciation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The paladins were on their way back to the training deck after lunch.  The pastelitos had been delicious, but what else would you expect from Hunk?  Lance noticed that the others were walking slower than normal.
Maybe it’s because of a food coma.  I know I go slower when I’ve eaten a lot.
‘But they did ask if you needed them to walk slower so you could keep up with them on the floating tray.’
Yeah, and I told them no.  They’re just walking slowly cause they ate a lot, right?
Lance thought back on some other things that had happened during lunch.
Hunk had offered to lower the height the floating tray floated at if it was too high.  Lance appreciated the gesture but told him he’s fine with it where it is.  Hunk had said that if Lance ever changed his mind, he would help.  It seemed that after everyone got to see the world from Lance’s current perspective they had become more protective than they had become after he had almost suffocated in the jewelry box.
The rest of the team had gently encouraged Lance to stand further back from the edge of the table during Lunch.  This, even though to him it was like 5 ft. to the edge of the table.  He wasn’t about to fall off the edge.  He figured having to stand a little bit further from the edge really wasn’t that big of a deal, but they kept giving him worried glances and trying to act like they weren’t.  They were acting like helicopter parents.
He knows they care, and he’s glad they do, but there’s a point where it becomes overbearing.  He needs room to breathe and he just wants them to realize that he can handle himself while he’s like this.  But he doesn’t say anything.  Given enough time, things will go back to normal.  Everyone else will realize they’re worrying over nothing and pretty soon Allura will fix him and they can all just forget this ever happened.  It’s really not a bid deal, even if his thoughts keep circling back, planting seeds of doubt in his head.  He tries to ignore those thoughts as the group enters the training deck.
“Alright, Hunk.  This is your last chance to guess my real name.  Get it right, I give you 20 GAC.  Get it wrong, you give me 20 GAC.  What is my name?” Pidge asked, certain that Hunk wouldn’t be able to guess it.
“Ok, I thought about it all through lunch, and I think I’ve got it.  Katherine.”
“Is that your final answer?”
“Yes…no…uh…yes.  Final answer.”
“That is not my name.  Pay up, Hunk.”
“Aww.  What is your real name then?”
“I’m not telling you.”
“But you have to.”
“I never said I would tell you my real name if you lost.”
“Well, then how do I know you’re telling the truth?”
“Would I ever lie to you, Hunk?”
“Yes.  Yes, you would.”
“She’s telling the truth,” Lance said.
“Wait, you knew?  And you didn’t tell me?  Lance, you’re my best friend, how could you not tell me?!” Hunk dramatically responded.
“That would be cheating, Hunk,” Lance answered with a teasing smile on his face.
“We can go double or nothing if you want to try again, Hunk,” Pidge suggested with a smirk.
“Nope.  Trying to guess it was way more stressful than it should have been.”
“*hem-hem*” Allura cleared her throat.  “Perhaps we should be refocusing our efforts on training?”
Everyone agreed.
“Is there anything else the simulator can do?”  Lance asked.
“There’s a lot that it can do.” Pidge began explaining.  “One thing it can do is shift through someone’s memories and create scenarios based on previous situations they’ve been in.”
“Wait, it can look through our memories?” Shiro asked.
Pidge nodded.
“Would it be able to help me fill in the gaps in my memory?”
“It could help, but I don’t know if it could fill in every gap.”
“Maybe it could help you figure out the rest of the project name you’ve been trying to remember, Shiro.”
“An excellent idea, Keith!” Coran exclaimed.
“That could give us the edge on Lotor,” Allura commented.
“Me and Coran can get that set up right now.” Pidge and Coran went over to the console.
Lance noticed a flicker of hesitation in Shiro’s eyes.
“Do you want to do this now?” Lance asked Shiro.
Shiro thought for a moment before responding determinedly, “I want to know what they did to me.”
“Is there anything the rest of us can do to help?” Lance asked.
“We could all go with Shiro through his memories as moral support.  If that’s ok with you, Shiro.”  Pidge responded.
“That might help, but I should be the one asking if you’d be ok with it.  There’s a lot of blank spots from both times I was a prisoner, and what I can remember is…not good.  They forced all of us prisoners to fight creatures we had no hope of beating.”
“Like Myzax.” Keith commented softly.
“Exactly like Myzax.  They would also force prisoners to fight each other in horrible situations where the only way out was death.  Yours or someone else’s.  It didn’t matter to them.  They wanted blood and a show.  They had us fight each other to discourage us from befriending the others and rebelling, I’m sure of it.  We never knew if we could trust anyone we were with.  All you could do is hope you wouldn’t be the one chosen to fight that day.  I can’t even remember how many I fought.”   Shiro’s voice cracked as he tried to keep his composure.
“We won’t let you face it on your own.”  Allura reached for Shiro’s hand.  “We’re a team.”  She squeezed his hand comfortingly.
“We win together,” Keith said.
“We lose together.” Pidge continued.
“We fall together,” Hunk added.
“We rise together.” Lance finished.
“I’ll get everything set up,” Coran stated.
“Are you guys sure you want to do this?  What you see might change how you see me.” Shiro was still giving them an out if they wanted to use it.
“Shiro, you’re our friend.  Also our Space-dad.” Lance received one of Shiro’s signature Space-dad glares at the comment.
“There’s nothing in your memory that would ever change what we think of you,” Allura assured him.
“Alright everyone, grab your helmets and we can get started,” Coran said.
Everyone got back in the positions they had been in earlier that day.
“If things get too intense for you Shiro, please let us know,” Coran stressed.  “I can bring you out of the mind meld splickety lit.”
“Thanks, Coran.” Shiro smiled slightly upon hearing Coran mix up the phrase.
Once more they found themselves in the mind-meld.  Lance was glad that he was the same height as the others again.  It was nice, even if it was only temporary.  All they could see was darkness.
“Ok, so how does this work?”  Shiro asked out loud.
“Just think about something and the system should do the rest,” Coran answered from outside the mind-meld.
Suddenly there was a burst of bright colors and overlapping sounds.  No one could make out any of it.
“Try focusing on a specific memory.  You’re overloading the system!” Coran commented.
“Let’s start with something simple.  Maybe something that all of us were present for?”  Allura suggested.
The colors came more into focus and the sound became less muddled.  The team saw images of themselves from months ago.
{So what’s the plan?  We go in there and just *pow pow pow* and free the prisoners?}
{What was that noise?}
{Lazer guns.}
“I remember this!  This is from when we went to save Hunk’s girlfriend!” Pidge teased.
“She’s not my girlfriend.  At least, not yet, I mean, if she wants to be.  I don’t have the guts to ask.  What if she says no?”
“Come on, Hunk.  You’re a catch!  You just have to tell her how you feel.”
“You’re one to talk, Lance.”
“Hey, we’re talking about your love life, not mine.”
“Maybe we should get back to helping Shiro?” Keith interjected.
{Okay, enough with the bad sound effects.  Besides, it’s more like *blam blam blam*}
“Alright Shiro.  Try to focus on your time with the Galra.”  Allura said.
Shiro took a deep breath before everyone was surrounded by darkness once more.  Images began to fly by, faster than any of them could make out.  All they could tell was that there was a purple tint to them.  The sound of weapons clashing and people screaming filled their ears.  The images slowed down and started to go like a slide show, pausing for just enough time for everyone to see and hear.  An old man holding a sword standing next to Shiro.  The man dead on the floor, sword at his side.  The crowd chanting “Champion!”
Shiro tried to shake the memory away, not wanting to think about that moment.  He tried to focus on the memory of the project name, but his thoughts started spiraling out of control, getting louder and louder.
“Think of your happy place!” Lance yelled over the noise as everyone grabbed hands in a circle to try to ground Shiro.
They were suddenly in a new memory.
{I'm going to be a paladin again.}
{Oh, come on now. Do you really want to play a paladin? You could be something completely different: a maven, a mage, a cleric, a klazgool, a bard.}
{Don't know what's more fulfilling than a paladin.}
{You're already a paladin in real life!}
“Your happy place is playing Monsters and Mana?”  Pidge asked.
“More the part with being a paladin,” Shiro admitted sheepishly.
“Are you ok, Shiro?” Lance questioned between Keith and Hunk.
“Do you need me to bring you out of the mind-meld?” Coran asked.
“No, I’m good.  Just…forgot how intense some of my memories are.  I’ll be ok.  We need to figure out the name of the project.”
“Yes, but we do not wish to do that at your expense,”  Allura stressed beside Shiro.
“If you need time to catch your breath, we can wait,” Keith added from the other side of Shiro.
“We might be able to, but the universe can’t,”  Shiro stated.  “Every tic we wait is one more tic the Galra Empire has to destroy worlds.  The fate of the universe is in our hands.  I can get through this.  For the universe.”
“For the universe.” The others echoed.
Bright lights started flickering in the mind meld as Shiro tried to focus on the memory.  Then a memory of him being trapped with purple water starting to pour into the space.  Next, he was on a lab table with Haggar cackling in the background.  Then darkness.  It stayed that way for a while.
“Is something supposed to be happening now?” Hunk whispered to Pidge.
“Shhh!” Pidge and the rest of the group said in unison.
“This is a memory, just one that I wasn’t entirely aware during,” Shiro stated.
Everyone quieted down once more.  They heard a muddled *thump, thump, thump* getting closer.  Footsteps.  Heavy ones.  Probably guards.  The sound became less muddled as the guards seemed to stop in front of Shiro in his memory, though it still sounded like they were underwater.
{How long do you think this one’s going to last?}  *Glass tapping noise*
{Given what happened to the last one, I give it a movement, maybe less.}
Both of the guards laughed at the second one’s comment.
{And then we get to start over with the next one.}
Everyone tried to ignore the happy *sigh* the first guard let out.
{The witch’s project is ambitious, though the name is a bit obvious, I mean Project Kur-}
{Hey!  You’re not supposed to say the name in front of them!}
{They’re in stasis.  They can’t hear a word we’re saying.  Don’t let the witch get to you, newbie.}
{…It is a bit on the nose, though, right?  Project Kuron.}
{She could have thought of a better name for it, don’t cha think?}
Shiro suddenly let go of Allura and Keith’s hands and backed away from the circle.  His face was pale.
“You can bring us out now, Coran,” Allura said.
“Right-o.” It took Coran only a few moments to get everyone out of the mind-meld.
Just like before, they all had to blink to get their eyes used to the lights again.
Unlike before, Shiro was very much shaken.
“You know what that word means, don’t you, Shiro?” Allura spoke softly.
He nodded.
Everyone turned to him to hear what the mystery word meant and see why it had affected Shiro so much.
Shiro took a breath.
“Kuron means clone.”

Things must get done
very late fic for the Langst Exchange for https://quillium.tumblr.com/
________________________________________________________
After a long hunt for Shiro, finally finding him, and now he is working on being an ambassador instead of the black paladin. Everything started to go back to normal. Finally settling down.
The team was coming back from a political meeting on a far off planet with odd looking aliens. They knew they needed to strengthen the coalition and was happy that they found a strong alliance.
“That’s odd,” Allura announced from inside of Blue. "I thought this was where we were meeting the ship?”
“Maybe our fearless leader guided us to the wrong location.” Lance chimed with a chuckle.
“Well, just letting you know. This fearless leader of yours was following his bright eyed second in command. Because this leader was still in a meeting with the princess, and Shiro on the way back.” Keith spoke in his same monotoned way. But the team could hear the joking undertone that had come out.
“Oh, he got you!” Hunk and Pidge piped up laughing.
“Ah, huh! Found it!” The Princess said stopping the laughter. “Lance took us to the right spot. For once,” The princess joked causing more giggles to erupt. “that being said, the castle has been on the move. It's not going very fast. So we will make it there in no time. But it is odd.” She said then started to lead the group in the right direction.
The team finally made it to the castle. It was slowly moving as suspected. So it was easy for the team land in the castle, and everyone made their way out of their lions.
“What do you think is going on?” Hunk asked nervously.
“Coran probably just got busy. And turned the castle on autopilot is all.” Lance said walking through while waving his arm. “I’m going to go find him.“ Lance trotted off as the others did their normal things.
As soon as Lance got out of sight he made a mad dash to find Coran as fast as he could. He checked the medbay, but he wasn’t there.
Kitchen, no.
Bridge, not there either.
When he was starting to lose his breath from all the running, he made it to the engineering room. He could almost hear his feet skid to a stop.
“Coran!” He looks around then he saw a leg sticking out from behind an old terminal. “Coran!” Lance ran sliding to his knees. “Are you okay?” He asked while reaching up to shake him.
“Oh hey there, my boy.” Lance heard a raspy voice. It sounded horrible. “You wouldn’t mind helping this old man out of this room?” Lance finally realized the barely audible raspy voice was coming for Coran.
“What’s wrong Coran?” Lance dramatized while helping Coran out of the terminal. Lance then realized that Coran was burning up. “Are you sick?”
“Just a bit of the Oberfludiplop. Nothing to.” then he started to cough like he was drowning in fluids. “Okay maybe a little worse for wear.” he chuckled.
“Okay, let's get you to the medbay” Lance said as he started to drag him around.
“No, not to the medbay.” Coran stumbled with Lance in step. “Allura will worry. Just to my room if you may my boy.” Coran asked softly while he leaned heavily on Lance.
“Are you sure? You seem pretty sick.” Lance questioned while he did what he was told and heading to the Coran’s room. Lance is pretty sure he was the only one that knew where Coran's room was.
“Yeah, it will be fine. Just need a little of that old sleep to get these bones moving again.” He tried to joke but was stopped by a cough.
“Okay, time to get you in bed!” Lance smiled while finishing leading the ginger to his room. Then he started to lay the man down on his bed. ‘Is this my fault?’ Lance asked himself, knowing he was the one who asked Coran to do other things while they were at the meeting.
“I’ll just rest for a few hours. Then I’ll get back to take care of everything that needs to be done.” Coran said while his eyes started to close.
“It’s okay don’t worry about it. Just rest. I’ll just take care of things. Don’t overdo it.” Lance smiled as he got up then gently placed a wet cloth on Coran’s forehead. “I’ll go get you some medicine and soup.”
Coran let out a small chuckle. “Don’t overdo it, kid,” he said before slowly fell asleep wrapped in a bundle of blankets.
Lance let out a sigh. He should have known this was going to happen. Coran had been looking under the weather for a while. He could see this yet he didn't do anything. Now Coran is so sick he can't even move. Lance took in another breath. He wouldn't let Coran’s work go undone, so he marched out of the room.
When he was done going to the med bay, after spending twenty minutes looking for the medicine for Coran and making sure he took it, he finally made his way to the bridge.
"Thank you, Lance, for finally joining us. Did you ever find Coran?" Allura asked sweetly, but Lance knew his brain was making it sound condescending.
Lance took a deep breath. Never miss a beat, pulling on his biggest grin. "Oh yeah, he was working in one of the storage rooms. He wanted me to let you know that he was sorry for letting the ship get past where it was supposed to wait. I'll, um, let him know if there is anything you need from him. You know how busy he can get." Lance went on. He knew he was rambling, but he couldn't help it.
Allura gave him an odd look, "Okay… sure thing. Anyway. Where was I?" Then she went to the meeting.
Lance stood there fidgeting wanting to get started on the work that Coran was supposed to be doing. As soon as Allura called a break, Lance rushed out the door and went over his list of what needed to be done. He knew his first stop would the med bay. He needed to check if the pods were cleaned or if it needed to be done.
When he got there he was happy to see that no one was in there. Of course, he didn't expect anyone to be there but his luck never did turn outright. With a tug of his sleeves, he went to work. He was lucky he had learned a little Altean from Coran who had been kind enough to teach him. So he knew what setting to put the pods at, and what chemicals to use to clean them up. Making sure they were functioning properly was the harder part. He wasn't super tech savvy like Pidge and Hunk, but he watched Coran enough that he was pretty sure what it all was.
Next, he went to the laundry shoot. All the other Paladins should have showered and dropped their clothes off by now. So he went in, loaded them up added the "special Altean soup" as Caran called it, then start the machine and onto the next chore.
After all of this was done he went to the kitchen. First for a late snack, then to make sure all the dishes were done, and food was put up. Of course, tonight had to be a particularly messy night, Hunk probably got sidetracked by one of Pidges projects. So Lance set to work. He picked up all the dishes and washed them. Then swept and mopped the floor. He wondered how Coran was able to do all this in such a short time, but he was determined to get it finished at the same time.
When the kitchen was spotless, Lance was making his way back to Coran’s room. He was already feeling worn out. He wasn't even sure what time it was but he knew it was very late. While he was lost in his own thoughts he bumped into something solid.
"Slow down there. What are you doing up so late?" Lance knew that voice, as a metal arm wrapped around him to hold him steady.
"Hey Shiro, just getting something to drink. What about yourself?" Lance smiled brightly. That's right Lance forgot he needs to make his runs to the other Paladins rooms, mostly Pidge who has a hard time sleeping. He will have to do that when he finishes checking on Coran.
Shiro frowns lightly. "Lance you know you shouldn't be up at this hour."
Lance knows that look. "Couldn't sleep. Come let's get something to drink. Mi mommy made this wonderful spice milk. And Hunk just happened to find almost all the spices for it. Well, the ones that taste close to it. " Lance just grabbed Shiro's arm and started to pull.
"Sure whatever you say, man." Shiro laughed while following him back to the kitchen.
Lance pulled Shiro into the kitchen just hoping Coran could wait a little longer. Lance went to work on making Shiro the best spiced milk.
"So what really happened to Coran?" Shiro's voice cut through.
'Shit… ' Lance tripped for a moment but moved around to grab the cup to hide it. "Why do you ask?" Lance tried to be as calm as possible.
"Oh, no reason. Just no one has seen him all day since we got back. And you have been sparse all day. " Shiro said letting out a long yawn. Then he got up and grabbed the milk that Lance had made. "Just don't stay up too long. We have practice at six, and you have about three hours of sleep." Shiro waved his hands as he went back to bed.
Lance stood there for a moment feeling shocked and like Shiro might know more than he was letting on. He shook his head and wake his way back to Coran. He knocked lightly. Then opened the door slowly. "You awake?"
"Lance my boy," then a cough came after the voice."I’m feeling better already. But what are you doing up so late?" Coran smiled as Lance sat next to him.
"What's with everyone asking me about why I am up so late? It's no big deal, I'm fixing to head to bed. Nothing to worry about." Lance chuckled checking to see how Coran’s sickness was going. "It seems that you should be better by tomorrow afternoon if I'm reading contraption right." Lance set down the tablet.
"Yeah by the afternoon, your right. You are getting better at your Altean.” Coran then coughed and laid down slowly. “Are you sure you guys are holding up without me?” He asked while pulling his covers over his arms.
“Uh, yeah... We are doing fine. Anyway, I’m going to head out. You get some more sleep.” He smiled and did an exaggerated stretch, yawn, and got ready to leave.
Lance turned around to walk away. “Lance, don’t overwork yourself.” He turned around giving a big thumbs up and left.
Lance yawned making his way to his room and got ready for bed. He didn’t have time to do his beauty routine, so he just got dressed and went to bed. He was asleep before his head hit the pillow.
Beep
Beep, beep.
Beep, beep, beep.
Lance's head was killing him and he was pretty sure he hadn't slept much at all, but he had to get up and ready for training. Before that, a quick maintenance check. So he put his armor on and went to the engine room to make sure everything was running smoothly.
Now that that was finished he drag himself to the training hall. Knowing it was going to be the last one there. He was preparing for hell.
"Look who finally decided to show up. Your beauty sleep isn't working Lance," Pidge piped as soon as Lance walked through the sliding door. "If you got up with everyone you would be more ready for the day." she finished.
'Pidge must be in a good mood today,' Lance waved his hand in dismissal. "You ready to rock this training!" He shouted instead and grabbed Hunks arm as they got to training.
When training was over he knew he was going to get an ear full. He had to go check on Coran and do other chores, so he slowly tried to sneak out of the training room, but as soon as he stepped one foot out of the door the question came.
"Where do you think you are going?" Shiro asked ain a condescending manner. Grabbing Lance by the collar. "We need to talk about the shooting of yours."
Lance took a deep breath and mentally preparing himself. Then Shiro was off, telling him about how bad the aim was, how he only hit about 50% of all his targets, and what would have happened if they were in a fight. Then Shiro started in on his sleeping habits. By the time it was all over it had been about a thirty minute lecture, Lance left feeling drained and worn out.
Making his way to Coran's room felt like a chore all on its own. His body ached and his eyes burned, but he placed the on the smile he always wears and walked in.
Coran was in the process of getting up but was having some weird kind of sneeze. And was about to fall over. Lance rushed over to grab him. " What are you doing up? You need to go back to bed." Lance walked Coran back to bed.
"Lance, my boy, it's nice to see you too. But I need to get up and take off everything in the castle." Coran said while trying to pull away from Lance.
"No, nope, not happening. You are staying right here. You don't need to overwork yourself. " Lance said and pulled the covers over Coran's body. Then handed him some soup. "Eat, I'll be back later tonight." Lance smiled trying to be encouraging.
Coran sighed. "Okay, my boy." Lance smiled brighter. He just wanted Coran to get better.
"Okay, yeah good. Get some rest, if you need anything just holler for me." He said leaving letting the automatic doors shut behind him.
The rest of the day followed like the one before. He tries to avoid the other paladins, check the med bay, do the laundry, check the maintenance on the ship, squeeze some workout in the middle of the day with the other paladins, going to the meetings, make an excuse on where Coran was and where Lance had been all day, and maybe something to eat, if he remembers. At the end of the day, he would check on Coran and tell him that everything was being taken care of, and there was nothing to worry about.
This repeated for a couple of days, causing Lance to get even less sleep. He was exhausted. His paladin work was getting sloppy. He even caught himself starting to doze off in meetings, he didn't know how much longer he could keep this up, but he didn't want to ask for help. This was his problem and he wanted to prove he could do it. He didn't want to look weak for asking for help, he was already weak enough to them.
On the fourth morning, he felt he was in such a haze. His body moved and swayed on its own. Coran was pretty much better but wanted to wait one more day to make sure. Lance made it to the training hall. They were doing gladiator fights. 'Great, another thing to get yelled at, and lectured for.' he mumbled to himself not realizing he said it out loud. He then got into position with the others.
The gladiator dropped and went straight for him. He wasn't fast enough at lifting his bayard. The gladiator swung its staff right at Lance's stomach. Hitting it with a loud sound. It sent his body flying upwards towards the wall slamming into it. He was pretty hurt he heard his head crack.
When his limp body hit the ground it made a thud. He could hear yelling and panicked sounds. But the world went dark, and he couldn't fight it anymore.
When he opened his eyes, he was in a white room. Laying on a bed that was slightly too stiff. He looked over to see the other Paladins sitting on the floor playing a card game. Then he was Coran sitting with them and shot up, but the world was spinning and he left out an involuntary moan.
"Easy boy! Don’t sit up too quickly. You hit that head of yours pretty bad." Coran came to his aid laying Lance dawn.
"What happened?" Lance forced out with his parched lips.
Hunk handed him water and spoke. "You were training and got hit by the gladiator.” Hunk waved his arms while he explained.
"Lance," Allura came over stroking his hair out of Lance's face. "We didn't know everything you have been doing. You should have asked for help. We would have been more than happy to help out. I could have probably helped Coran get better faster. You don't have to hold all this in. We are all here for you, just like you are here for everyone else." She smiled softly, and everyone nodded in agreement.
"Sor… "
"Nothing to be sorry for you idiot," Keith spoke lightly hitting Lance's arm. Lance chuckled.
He knew it wouldn't be immediate, but he would work harder on asking for help and letting others be there for him. He couldn’t help smiling while explaining everything that had been going on and just enjoying his time with the others.

Many ways to say I love you: Day Nineteen.
Kidge-a-palooza 2019 Prompt: Rebirth. Pairing: Kidge (VLD) Universe: Fantasy!AU. Status: Part 1/3
They had been moving for many days nonstop, thanks to the last misadventure they had lived in which they almost managed to escape alive with the help of the last magic resources at hand, earning several wounds around their bodies that hurt at the insistent touch of their clothes. They needed to disinfect the deep cuts as soon as possible, but many of their resources were lost as soon as the caves collapsed under their heads, taking the drastic decision to flee leaving their possessions adrift so as not to be delayed while running.
The mood was down, not even Lance was able to make an ironic comment about the situation and the night would soon fall while walking through the forest, the sharp senses of Shiro alerted him that the hunter animals were already in full swing looking some prey to feed, and they at this moment looked charmingly tempting, almost managing to walk on their own.
Hunk did his best to find a village around him to ward off the impending dangers and to rest properly after the hard battle, but the closest place was the small town of Arus, and it was several miles away from where they could It would take several nights to get there. So they had to camp in that place to recover at least a few energies.
They made a small camp in a comfortable area after a few minutes deciding which would be the best place. Shiro took his sword and went out in search of food along with Hunk, who was skilled at recognizing which foods of the forest were edible without dying of some kind of poisoning. Leaving Pidge in charge of the fire while Lance ordered a few leaves and dry grass to make a large bed improvised for everybody.
It would not be the first time that they shared space of rest to spend the night after an arduous battle, their life as treasure hunters for many years had made them close. Enough to not bother about the closeness between them. They knew each other completely and respect was their main basis for the strange friendship they had created among people of races as different as themselves. What for many was a complete madness when they knew them.
Lance yawned languidly after finishing a nest quite comfortable for everyone, who was about to fall halfway satisfied with pleasure, Pidge laughed at his behavior.
''And I thought that the minstrels were much more resistant.''
''Hey, don't blame me for being tired!'' Lance answered with a broad smile when he settled on the floor. ''Fighting against those trolls has been by far the stupidest idea we have ever had.''
''Yeah, well, I'm not going to deny it.'' Pidge said in a whisper. ''We had to be much more prepared. Even Shiro suffered serious injuries to his right arm.''
''Do you think there are scars left?''
''Are you kidding?'' Pidge's lips bent towards a sardonic smile. ''He should hardly have any cuts, Shiro is an oni, after all. It takes more than a couple of stones and magic fire to break his skin. Especially his right arm.''
''Ahh ... '' Lance replied disinterestedly. ''Well, sometimes I forget that he is not a human.''
''With those big horns that he has?'' Pidge inquired inquisitive, raising an eyebrow as if Lance had said something completely ridiculous. ''Even I can spend much more easily as one!''
''But not when you talking, Pidgy.''
Pidge placed one of her hands on her chest with a slight gasp coming from her lips, pretending to be offended by his words. But even she could accept that her character and her responses were often inevitably cruel or sarcastic. She couldn't help it, many times she felt that humans, especially Lance, were ridiculously stupid, so when they were visiting villages looking for some supplies for their missions, Pidge tended to close her mouth and let Shiro take care of everything so as not to generate uncomfortably situations.
Even when it was almost palpable to distinguish the supernatural area on Shiro's shoulders and people still tended to keep distance with magical or spiritual beings, given the ambivalent nature of their genes, he always captured the attention he least wanted, attraction, both men and women. And while it wasn't a nuisance most of the time, stopping when others saw his clear disinterest in coquetry often shameless, her beloved brother-in-law used to feel uncomfortable most of the time.
But Pidge could understand, those white horns that came out of his head looked imposing, added to that his eyes had a natural delineate along with a purple color around his eyelids, they gave him the image of an aggressive nature, without counting the mountain of muscles that he had all over his body. Even without his mystical nature, Shiro was a person who visually demonstrated not being part of the world of mortals.
Unlike Pidge, who, because of her short stature, the disordered image with a tousled hair under armor too big for her height, looked like an ordinary person. She could almost pretend to be a boy or a dwarf if it were not for the fact that her features were too delicate as she spent more years, but Pidge was completely perfect for what she needed in her missions.
She was the first defense in her group, the shield of her team and the connoisseur of labyrinths. A female appeal was not something she needed.
When about an hour passed, they could see Hunk and Shiro approaching with a deer between their shoulders, drooling almost instantaneously at Pidge, Lance had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
''I see you made a pretty nice nest.'' Hunk commented while lightly kicking the side of Lance, who only responded with a deep moan.
''We'd better let him rest, Hunk.'' Shiro spoke, while he was in charge of crumbling the meat with his hands, dividing the skin that they would use for that night. ''Lance took the worst part of the last battle, it will not hurt him to sleep a couple of hours more.''
''Yeah, I suppose you're right.''
When Shiro stretched the skin enough around some branches of a tree, Pidge made a delicate movement with one of her hands using the last reserves of magic that remained to seal the collagen and transmute the flesh to a softer texture for the touch. It was a simple spell that didn't require much mana, but useful at moments like those of that where they had nothing to keep warm for the cold night that was coming.
They threw it to Lance once Pidge finished her work, who gave a good sleep as he surrounded himself pleasantly. They both decided to sit by the campfire enjoying the meat that Hunk had prepared with multiple species and nutritious vegetables to regain strength. Little by little they felt the hunger disappear from their bodies to give way to a satisfied stomach, and the urgent need to sleep until the next morning.
But they couldn't afford such mistakes as lowering their guard during the night with hundreds of animals and possible thieves around a winding forest, so Pidge decided to stand guard the early hours of the night, promising to awaken Lance when it was her opportunity to sleep.
She spent a couple of hours cutting a piece of wood with one of her sharpest daggers, using her skills trying to listen to what the trees could tell her during those moments of calm and tranquility that very rarely happened, thanks to her noisy group of friends. The fire from the small fire crackling and forming mysterious shapes was the only thing she needed as light as the piece of wood began to take the shape of a spoon, a small gift to her friend Hunk because they had lost the utensils in their last mission.
After a couple of hours, when the night reached its maximum point and her friends snored at her side, Pidge felt a sharp twinge in her back that made her get up almost immediately, with her dagger in hand ready for the attack. The branches of the trees moved slowly, warning her of a nearby danger she had to be careful of. But when she turned around and tried to get close to Shiro to wake him up, Pidge saw what made her blood freeze completely.
A goblin smiling, petty, pointing Shiro's neck with a stake loaded with quintessence with enough edge to cut his throat in a few seconds, as a threat to any strange movement Pidge could make. In a few seconds, the around began to surround herself with others more of his class approaching her friends, but Pidge couldn't move a single inch, the goblins were ruthless and could not endanger Shiro's life. They dropped an unknown liquid over the ears of her friends, Pidge begged all the gods that it wasn't a deadly poison.
Pidge breathed deeply without making any movement that alerted her intentions until she felt strong steps behind her that made the earth rumble drearily, what she feared most at that moment was approaching and exhaustion didn't let her think what could do to get out of that problem. The goblins weren't intelligent beings, they were small monsters that lived from wars against other beings and primitive instincts, so their actions of stealthily approaching and poisoning their companions without an iota of violence, made her think that the strong breathing that felt behind her back surely it was an orc.
She swallowed hard when she heard his laugh rudely, the wretched bastard was enjoying her despair.
Her mind quickly turned to the most important goal, Pidge couldn't let those disgusting goblins kill her friends, she accumulated a wave of electrical energy through one of her hands to hurl it towards the goblins that were on top of their bodies friends to drive them away and generate painful damage. Before she knew it, Pidge was already running away from the camp, using herself as bait.
Pidge was exhausting considering she hadn't rested at any time of the night, but the elves used to have problems moving on the surface, so she found herself at a great advantage with various minutes of running. Pidge didn't know if she had managed to get the attention of all the goblins, but definitely, the orc was chasing her when heard the heavy footsteps behind her, which gave some relief to her heart.
She was sure that before leaving, Lance had woken up because of the current of her attack. Pidge only hoped that the poison he had been given wasn't so deadly as to disable him completely.
Pidge fell on some stairs after a few minutes running through the woods when a dart reached her legs, numbing them completely to almost the seconds. In front of her, there was an old castle surrounded by vines and roots, indicating its abandonment for many years.
Now she knew where the damned goblins came from.
Took off the dart from her leg quickly, but the poison was already beginning to numb her senses. Pidge watched as the orc with his followers came towards her, drooling rudely. Pidge cringed about with panic in her veins, trying desperately to move as she thought of some way out, but her legs didn't respond no matter how hard she tried.
A few words from years ago by the oracle of her village resounded strongly inside her head, something she had completely forgotten. A promise of fate that she naively thought had been delivered when she met her friends, and of which her family feared terribly when she began her travels around the world.
When she felt the footsteps of the orc approaching her, the tears didn't prevent falling to her cheeks for the cruelty that would end up being her death. Her mother was right when years ago she tried to desist about her desire for adventure.
Pidge was doomed.
She screamed in anger when the hands of a few goblins began to tear the clothes with their nails and teeth with fearsome ease, while others held her body against the ground. Pidge beat and bit them desperately, but it was useless when many of them held their limbs with a despicable force. Her throat burned with the force of her screams and her skin bled at the cuts that were made while they undressed her by force. Pidge naively thought that if she tries to concentrate for a few seconds, she would be able to perform a protective spell before she was raped, but her weariness and fear intervened with her magical abilities. Pidge felt desperate, helpless, and deep in her mind, it was constantly repeated that if she hadn't abandoned her family for a personal desire, none of that would be happening.
Her screams mingled with her laments when she saw the orc approaching with a look that made her tremble in her own place, one of the goblins bit her shoulder so hard that she was not able to continue to hold the basic spell of her appearance, changing its morphology into pointy ears characteristic of her race, her hair grew falling on her back to cover barely something of her trembling body, and her wings appeared tinkling erratically, being caressed with the nails of those inferior beings, somewhere in she was afraid they would be torn from her body.
In spite of everything, Pidge didn't stop fighting trying to break free, looking directly at the high-altitude monster whose mouth hadn't closed since he saw her fall for the first time, his saliva dripped rudely from his chin, and Pidge knew that after to desecrate her, he would devour her head with his own teeth.
Her eyes clouded with a lament from her insides when he took her by the neck with one of his hands.
She would have liked to eat a little more of Hunk's peanut butter cake.
He lifted her violently from the ground to stamp her against the wall, to the amusement of the goblins around her one of her wings broke to the impact.
She wanted to see what the sea was like when Lance talked so much to her at night.
Taking advantage of the position she was left in; the orc raised her backside with so much pressure that Pidge almost felt it would break her back. A deep growl inside his throat made her want to tear out his eyes, but her arms didn't respond no matter how hard she tried to move them.
She would have liked to be in charge of the union of Matt and Shiro for next fall when the trees covered the village with multiple colors.
But none of that mattered anymore, she thought. Her end was going to be miserable at the hands of goblins and orcs. A fate that she could never avoid even taking all the precautions.
Only for her desire for freedom and knowledge.
The only thing Pidge thought, before closing her eyes tightly, was that she could only be reborn with a destiny freed from the curses that came with an adventurous life.
The pressure in her insides never came.
However, she could feel the blood spreading on her back violently, when Pidge turned around, she could see that a giant wolf had ripped the head of the orc behind her.
The goblins began to scream in fear, attacking the beast with their claws and teeth, in vain. Pidge wanted to know what had happened in so few seconds, but soon her consciousness began to cloud through exhaustion and recent stress.
The last thing she was able to see, was a hair tied on a broad back and marks of a race cursed by darkness.
 ...
When Pidge awoke, her limbs burned like shit, as if she had lived a marathon for hours with her brother Matt through the forest of her village, and the muscles of her body were completely torn after constant exercise, so she couldn't help the loud growl from her throat as she rose heavily from a warm, welcoming skin. When she opened her eyes, Pidge didn't see the old castle that was used as a colony for the goblins, nor the forest in which she was trapped with her friends for many days. But a simple bonfire, and the snout of the wolf that had saved it a few minutes ago.
Pidge quickly got up scared, regretting when she realized that it hadn't been a good idea considering the current state of her body, her wings felt stiff behind her back, so she supposed they were being held back by some bandage. She dragged the skin that covered her shame across her shoulders to give herself some heat, the night was still high in the sky and the cold was unbearable. She looked cautiously at the beast she was using as a pillow all this time, now she was sure that she had not imagined it, it was exactly as her father described it in his book of non-earthly beings that she read in her first years of life.
She was next to a cosmic wolf, a beast from space.
''I see you have enough energy to get up...''
Pidge looked away to the voice that greeted her, where a young man, with soft but aggressive features, looked at her with an expressionless face. The marks on his cheeks that grew to his eyes echoed in his memory. He, however, only offered her a bowl full of water.
''Drink it.''
Pidge took it looking at it cautiously, it had a strange color and it moved as if it were viscous on its contents. Pidge hesitated a little, but he had saved her from being killed by the goblins a few minutes ago, so it didn't make sense to think that he was trying to attack her life, so she took it in one trip.
As she supposed, it was disgusting, but she did her best not to return it to the first arcade.
''What the heck was ... '' Pidge barked hitting her chest, he shrugged and still moved the ashes of the fire with a stick.
''It will help you recover the quintessence of your body.''
''Thank you very much ... '' Pidge was surprised by herself when her voice was heard harsher and more serious than normal, touching her neck with one of her hands.
''Your trachea is somewhat closed; it is a consequence of the poison that was injected when you fled the goblins.'' The boy answered simply. ''You'll feel better after a few days.''
''How did you find me?'' Pidge asked, but he raised an eyebrow, inquisitive.
''I thought you would be a little more grateful, I saved you from being raped by the goblins.''
''But that doesn't answer my question.''
Pidge answered, a little more defensively. While she was completely grateful for his actions, it seemed a bit strange to her how he had appeared. No goblin perceived it to be miles away being that they were skillful in finding potential enemies. What was strange he kept her gaze for a few moments, until he sighed heavily as he continued to play with the fire.
''I ... I was the one who took them out of that cave last night. I was investigating the ruins of that castle as fieldwork. When I heard the noise from outside, I teleported with Kosmo to see what was happening. '' Caressed the outline of the head of his partner, emphasizing his words. ''That's when I saw the situation, and I ordered my wolf to tear off the orc's head before it did irreparable damage to you.'' His look went down a little, Pidge could see some regret in his eyes. ''I'm really sorry. I thought there was no one around the forest.''
''I understand.'' Pidge replied, a little calmer knowing the truth. ''You were quite reckless, not to say stupid. One doesn't scare the goblins from the caves without even checking the perimeter.''
''It's true.'' Affirmed his words heavily.
''But you helped me at the right time and I couldn't be more grateful for that. So, really, thank you.''
Pidge smiled warmly at the stranger. He didn't seem foolish; it had only been a terrible coincidence that he was about to end her life. But again, she felt really grateful that he had appeared at the ideal moment. Part of Pidge also knew that her actions had been precipitated when she fled into the forest with no plan in mind.
She moved her legs a little more towards the fire, the cold of the night drowned her bones with regret, and although the layer of the skin helped not to die frozen at that moment, it didn't cover her body completely. Suddenly, a fact made noise in her thoughts, breaking the silence that had been armed around them.
''Did you say the last night?'' The elf nodded, confused by her question. Pidge's heart jumped in panic. ''How long have I been unconscious?''
''About two days. We have been moving since then, why?''
''My friends are in that forest.'' She answered worried, he frowned thoughtfully.
''I doubt that they remain there, I didn't feel any magical or human presence while we passed the forest.''
''Is it the same skill you used before releasing the goblins?'' Pidge asked sarcastically, he just watched her irritated.
''No, I used a tracking spell looking for someone who could help you. But I didn't find anything.''
Pidge's concern was evident in her face, her friends would surely think that the goblins had taken her, and if they weren't close to an elf's tracking skills, then they had run to the opposite direction without Shiro's help, who could feel her presence while they were at an adequate distance.
Perhaps the liquid that the goblin had slipped through their ears was precisely so that they couldn't easily find her, and not a poison like Pidge had initially created. But the elf's words brought her out of her thoughts.
''Anyway, we are closer to Arus than the forest, they will surely be there.''
''I don't know...'' Pidge moved a little more to rest her head on the back of the cosmic wolf, she still felt a little weak. The wolf accepted her delightedly. ''One of them is my brother-in-law and an oni. He will be desperately looking for me everywhere.''
''If he is intelligent, he will feel your quintessence trail out of the forest. They are pretty good sniffing yours.''
''Maybe you are right.'' He certainly had it, Pidge thought, somewhat surprised that he knew about youkais. Her best option was to head towards Arus at that time. ''I'm Pidge, by the way. You will take me there, right?'' The boy smiled slightly, nodding after a few seconds staring at her.
''I'm Keith. Do I have another option?''
''No.''
Pidge finally answered a feeling of warmth reached her heart when she reached an accomplishment while watching those eyes as dark as night. Keith had just been responsible for her rebirth, and she no longer needed to fear the death of a prophecy.

It was a perfectly normal morning on the Castle of Lions.
Keith woke up and went to train. He showered, got dressed, and headed for the mess. It was still pretty early. The only other people awake right now were probably Allura and Coran.
Or Pidge, who was typing away on her laptop. There was something... different about her? But he wasn’t sure what. “Morning.”
She made an acknowledgement noise and kept typing.
Pidge was not an early riser, so if she was in here now, it was probably because she hadn’t gone to bed yet. He noticed the steaming mug next to her and the half-touched bowl of food goo. That was all normal. What was off? He shrugged and went to get his own food, but then paused and looked back.
“Are you drinking kava?” he asked. Maybe that was it. She hated kava - Altean coffee.
“Yeah?” she replied. “You’re not getting any, so don’t try. You don’t like how I take it anyway.”
She was talking like she knew. Hell, she was drinking kava, which she normally refused, no matter how tired she was. She claimed that, even with farre milk and some crystallized whatever-it-was that was basically sugar, it was still vile. But he watched her pick up her mug and slug some back. It did look heavily altered, being a lighter brown color than kava normally was, but she was drinking kava.
“Did you... get a haircut or something?” he asked.
She stopped and turned to him, looking befuddled. She wasn’t wearing her glasses, he realized. “Haircut? I’m growing it out.”
That’s what it was. Her hair was long, long enough to be in a high ponytail. And, as he took her in, he realized something else. “Since when did you have breasts?”
She rolled her eyes. “Jeeze, Keith.” She turned back to her laptop.
Pidge was wearing an oversized blue t-shirt that was sliding off of one shoulder and, as he came around to study her, a short skirt of what looked like denim. Pidge has long hair, breasts, and she’s wearing a skirt?! She’s drinking kava without complaint, and... “What’s with the ring?”
She stopped again. “Did you hit your head in training?” she asked in concern.
“Keith!” came a cheerful voice from behind him.
He turned to find Lance strolling in. He looked much the same, near as he could tell, and he was primed to try to find differences. Maybe his hair was a little longer? He wasn’t sure. He hadn’t really been paying attention to Lance’s hair.
Lance clapped him on the back. “Good morning! Have a good workout?”
“Yeah. What’s up with Pidge?”
“Huh?” He frowned and looked over at her and sighed. “All night again?”
“I’m busy,” she said, having resumed her typing. “Help Keith out; I think he hit his head.”
Lance turned to him. “Buddy, did you hurt yourself?”
“Buddy?” Since when did Lance call him ‘buddy’? “And I’m fine.”
“He says he’s fine.” Lance moved past him to dish up some food goo.
“It’s Keith. You know how he is,” Pidge said.
“Keith doesn’t keep secrets from me,” Lance declared in response. “I’m his best friend, after all.”
“What? Since when?” Keith asked.
Lance just laughed. “Good one, palarino!” He took his bowl and a spork back to the table.
“Can you get me another mug?” Pidge asked just before she drained hers.
“No,” Lance said. He set his bowl and spork down next to her and turned to kiss her hair. Lance Kissed Pidge. Well, her head, anyway, but STILL. “You’ve been up all night and you need to sleep at some point, honey.”
“HONEY?” he asked in disbelief. That was when he caught the glint of metal. Lance had a ring on, too. Wedding rings?! NO WAY. What the hell?!
“GOOD MORNING!” That was Hunk, walking in with his usual cheery disposition... and a beard. A big, shaggy, Santa Claus-esque beard.
“Okay, okay,” Keith said, “what the QUIZNAK is going on here?”
Lance, Hunk, and Pidge shared a look. “I told you, I think he hit his head,” Pidge said.
“Awww, Keith, did you hit your head?” Hunk asked. “I’ll take you down to the infirmary.”
“No. NO. Tell me right now what’s going on,” Keith insisted.
“Nothing?” Lance said, sounding confused. “How bad did you hit it, buddy? You didn’t turn the training droids up to 50 again, did you? You barely survived that.”
Keith studied the three of them. “This is a joke. This is some sort of prank.”
“Keith, this is just normal life,” Hunk told him.
“Yeah,” Pidge said, looking back to her screen, “for like the last five years.”
“FIVE YEA-...?!” His eyes widened. “No. No, we’ve only been away from Earth like... one year, tops.”
The three of them shared another look. “Keith,” Lance said, “it’s been a decade. Don’t you remember?”
“We defeated Zarkon,” Hunk said.
“And Lotor,” Pidge put in as she typed. “We brought peace to the whole universe.”
“And you were the best man at my wedding to Pidge!” Lance told him. “How do you not remember my wedding?!”
Pidge snorted. “He did get pretty blasted at the reception.”
“Yeah, you set a new record for lateral vomit distance,” Hunk said. All three of them laughed.
Keith shook his head. “No, no way, this isn’t true, this isn’t happening.”
“Oh, I see we’re slacking off again this morning,” Shiro said as he walked in.
Keith whipped around and grabbed two fistfuls of Shiro’s shirt. “SHIRO, WHAT’S GOING ON?”
He blinked down at Keith. “Uh... I could ask you that. It’s morning. I assume breakfast is going on?”
“No, with THEM.” He let go with one hand to gesture at the other three paladins - mostly Lance and Pidge. “They’re MARRIED?!”
Shiro’s brow furrowed. “Keith, don’t you remember?”
His eyes widened and he let go entirely to stumble back. He looked around at the three of them, and then approached Hunk.
“Keith, seriously, let’s get you to the infirmary,” Hunk told him.
He stared at Hunk for a long moment, then reached out and RRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPP!
“OW!!!” Hunk fell away, clutching at his face, but Keith just whipped around, shaking the fake beard at Lance and Pidge.
“AH-HA!!! I KNEW IT!”
Pidge and Lance started laughing. Shiro said, “I’ll get you some cool water, Hunk.”
“I KNEW IT WAS A TRICK!” Keith declared in triumph.
“We had you though!” Lance said. “We HAD you for a moment there!”
“Shiro was the best part!” Pidge was saying between giggles. “We didn’t even TELL him about this!”
Keith whipped around to Shiro, eyes narrowing in betrayal.
Shiro grinned and shrugged. “I saw the opportunity, I had to go for it.” He gave Hunk a cool packet of water to press against his face.
Keith turned back to Pidge and Lance. “I could buy you two being married, but Hunk with a big shaggy beard? NO WAY.” He threw the fake beard down on the floor.
“Wait, what do you mean you could buy us being married?” Lance asked.
Keith folded his arms. “Oh and I’M the unobservant one?”
Pidge cleared her throat and resumed typing, but he noticed her blushing.
“Why would I marry Pidge?” Lance asked... just before she elbowed him in the stomach.
“Just for that, I want a divorce,” she said. She was getting redder as she took off the wedding ring.
Hunk lowered the packet from his face long enough to say, “I think Keith might be on to something there.”
Keith smirked at Lance and went to finally get some breakfast.
“Oh, come on,” Lance protested. “I wouldn-...” Whatever he was going to say was cut off by Pidge throwing her wig in his face.
“Shut up,” she said sullenly.
“Okay, we’ve had our fun for this morning,” Shiro said, trying to play peacekeeper. “Let’s fuel up and get ready. I want to go over tomorrow’s mission so we can get right to it when we arrive.”
Keith ignored that. “You two pick on each other like you’re two kids on a playground,” he said. “And every time you hit on Allura, Pidge gets all grumpy.”
“SHUT UP, KEITH!” she snarled.
“Yeah, kind of like that.” He brought his bowl over to the table.
Lance was sitting down with his own breakfast. “That doesn’t mean anything.”
“Yeah, exactly!” Pidge was quick to declare.
“Oh, look, they’re agreeing now!” Hunk cooed.
“Hunk!” they both cried together.
“Wow, married much?” Keith asked with a grin. He was happy to be getting some payback already.
“KNOCK IT OFF, ALL OF YOU.” Shiro brought his bowl to the table. “I mean it. We have a long day ahead of us, and a longer day tomorrow with the mission. Hurry up and eat.”
He shut up and started eating, but he noticed Lance and Pidge were blushing and very determinedly Not Looking at each other.
That night, as everyone was splitting up and going to bed, Pidge said, “Hey, Lance?”
He stopped and turned to look at her. “Yeah? ‘Sup?”
“About what Keith was on about this morning...”
“Oh, when he was crazy-talking about us?” he asked nervously.
“Y-yeah, that.” She fidgeted. “I just wanted to say... don’t let him get to you. ‘Cause you know he was only saying it to get a rise out of you.”
“Oh.” He blinked. “Yeah, of course. I mean, obviously there’s nothing going on with us.”
“Yeah, of course not,” she agreed quickly. “Nothing at all.”
“No crush or anything like that.”
“Right. So. Yeah. He’s just nuts,” Pidge concluded.
“Totally. Just saying it to tick us both off ‘cause he was mad at our awesome prank.”
“It was a great prank,” she agreed, smiling brightly. “You were right, the fake kava totally helped sell it.”
“And the falsies,” he said. “And the skirt. You looked like a smoking hot woman, actually.”
She blinked.
He blinked. “Uh, not that you’re not a woman! Or hot! I mean, you’re not, but... uh, but you’re not not... Uh, I just meant that...”
She was getting red-faced, but she just rolled your eyes. “Real smooth, Lance. Go to sleep before I kick your ass.”
“Yeah, clearly I’m just tired, that’s all. And we got a mission tomorrow. G’night, Pidge.”
“Good night, Lance.” She held out her fist. “And good job again on pranking Keith.”
He gave her the requisite fist bump. “Boom.”
They turned and went back to the individual rooms, and certainly weren’t thinking about anything that had been said that day, or the thoughts those comments had awoken in either of them.

Before you read: these are only snippets out of my upcoming Cayde stories. Please pay attention to the ratings and warnings, have in mind that English isn't my native language and don't be mad at me in case publishing takes a while. I'm the slowest writer ever.
ONESHOTS Title: ? 2 exos 1 girl? Idk yet Pairing: Cayde-6 x female reader/Clovis Bray's daughter x Shiro-4 Rating: Explicit Warnings: knife-play, gun-play, humiliation kink, very smutty, watch your panties
—  a boring company anniversary takes a sudden turn when your two exo bodyguards pay you back after teasing them for so long
“Are you two going to eye fuck me all night or are you going to do something about it?” The two exos approach and surround me slowly. Their optics eyeing me like men starving, making me feel like I'm their trapped mouse. Which is ironic because they're my bodyguards who are supposed to protect me, to make me feel safe. But right now I feel neither.
I realize there's no use in defending myself. I was so drunk that I barely could stand up straight and also very tiny compared to these taller exos, human minds turned into ruthless war machines.
“Got you. You're screwed now.” Cayde quickly puts his hand around my throat and slams me against Shiro's body. I feel something hard pressed up against my butt. “Is that your gun or are you excited to see me?”, I can't help but chuckle. “It's definitely not my gun.” “Look at that little tease.”, Cayde snaps icy, his aqua blue optics glowing even colder. His voice sounds deeper and huskier than usual and makes me shiver. “You're going to regret that, babe.” His gloved hand is curling tighter around my neck and my alcohol dazed vision gets blurry. “Me and my friend share everything. Even you. Now move.” Somewhere in my delirious state, with the barrel of Cayde's Ace of Spades filling my mouth, the two exos jerk me to my bedroom. My body is betraying me with arousal, but I'm so nervous and excited. I want them. I want them to have me. I just can't help it. *** Title: ???? Pairing: Cayde-6 x female reader/Clovis Bray's daughter Rating: Explicit ⬆️— without Shiro version of the fic above for anon ***
Title: #1 Crush Pairing: Cayde-6 x female reader Rating: Explicit — your bodyguard Cayde caughts you right in the act thinking of him I thrust my fingers into me in a faster in a punishing pace, feeling so close to the edge, imagining how his cock slams into me, without mercy and tearing my insides apart. „Oh Cayde... Fuck me... Fuck me harder...”, I whimper to myself, encouraging the handsome robot in my imagination. A not unfamiliar chuckle makes me freeze in my movements. “We can arrange that.” My bodyguard was standing in the door. Arms crossed, a amused grin forming his mouth-plates. He enjoyed my one-woman-show like a man starving. This was real, not another projection of my imagination to get off to. He's real and he's walking up to me, something intimating in his slow movements. My attempt to pull down my skirt over the exposed wetness between my legs is cut off by his hands pinning mine down on the desk behind my back. “Soo...” He speaks up, leaning over to me, as his aqua-blue optics study my face interested. “Did I fuck you good?”, he whispers in such a husky voice that it sends a cold shiver through my sweaty, heated body. Before I can even get a proper sentence out he cuts me off with a chuckle again. “Hush! Of course I did.”, he answers his own question overconfident and leans in so close to me that his spiky horn bumps my forehead softly. “But I'm gonna give you the real thing...” *** Title: Dressed up to undress Pairing: Cayde-6 x female reader Rating: Explicit —  Your bodyguard Cayde takes you to The Last City and you claim him as your boyfriend for a day. „Being your boyfriend today? Huh. I'll tell your dad that this costs extra.”, he responds sarcastic, shaking his head in disbelief. „Oh Cayde...”, I snuggle up on his arm and look at the attractive exo, admiring his unique profile. „I know I'm the best job you've ever had.” Cayde looks back at me, a little smile forming his blue metal plate lips, reflecting the sun light. „Got it's moments.”, he mutters under his breath, winking at me. „So... Where are you taking me, my handsome boyfriend?” He seems to be comfortable in his new role and puts his arm around my shoulder, tugging me closer to his body. „Anywhere you want, my beautiful, pain in the ass girlfriend.” *** Title: I will steal you back Pairing: OC x Shiro-4 other characters: Cayde-6 (mentioned), Andal Brask (mentioned), Colonel, Saladin's “mascots” Rating: Explicit Warning: Shiro saying a lot “lady” in his angelic voice — grieving over a lover and friend seems so much easier together. Cayde's stash box jumped open. [Shiro-4.] The exo and the blonde freezed in their movements, when a not unfamiliar voice echoed through the hangar. “Cayde?”, the young widow whispered with tears in her eyes when she recognized her dead husbands voice. Shiro pulled the sobbing blonde gently into his arms and buried his face into her hair. “Shh... I'm here, Feena.”, he whispered softly, his hands running over her back to soothe her somehow. [Hey pal. Long time no see. When you hear this, I'm dead. I got killed, or you killed me. I wouldn't even blame you after our last conversation. Anyway. Congratulations, you get the vanguard gig. Stop. Stop. Stop. Listen. Before you start yelling, consider this. You don't have to freeze off your robo ass at the tempel anymore and... you'll be around my Queen Of Hearts. You're welcome. I may be an idiot, but I'm not stupid. I know you love my girl as well, and she loves you too. So... I'm not big on goodbye scenes, but please take care of my queen. She made me happy and I want her to be happy. I want you happy, too, my man. See you.] Shiro and Feena sat there for a while in front of the stash box, holding each other tight, while Cayde's voice and words lingered heavy in the cold air. For the very last time. *** Title: The Last City (Destcember #2) Pairing: OC x Cayde-6 other characters: Amanda Holliday, Petra Venj, Shiro-4, Zavala Rating: mention of suicide attempt — a princess and exo find purpose in life again after saving a little girl and each other. “Feena! Cayde!” Little Amanda ran over to the blonde and the exo, clinging to their legs like her life depended on it. “You two were gone when I woke up! I was so scared!”, she cried out, hugging both of them tighter. Feena looked down at the little girl and gently ran her fingers through her curly blonde hair with a sad smile. How should she tell her that her parents died last night? The thought of it shattered her aching heart into thousands of pieces, she was afraid that Cayde and Amanda could hear it. Cayde saw that Feena was struggling and knelt down to Amanda's level, his aqua blue optics glowing warm. “Sorry, sweetie. Feena didn't feel good and needed fresh air. We would never leave you alone, sweetheart. Never.”, he assured softly and hugged her tight. Feena watched these two and quickly wiped away tears streaming her eyes. She didn't want to show weakness in front of them. They needed her. And she needed them. “Cayde's right.”, she blurted out briefly. “Yes. It's me and my girls now. Unless you're afraid of me, Amandy.” “I'm not afraid of you! You look so cool! Like a badass unicorn!”, she yelled excited. “Did you just call me unicorn?! I used to be a soldier!”, he spat back playfully offended, making Amanda even more giggle. God, her little laugh was heartwarming. Feena was so thankful for Cayde being able to make this little one laugh again, after all the horrible things that she's been through. He was wonderful. “I wanna touch your horn! Please!” The little blonde girl jumped into Cayde’s arm and her big blue eyes glowed with excitement when her little fingers explored that spiky, blue horn attached on top of his head. The exo held her tight in his arm and couldn't help but chuckle. “Smooth right? Amazing.” He turned to Feena with a wink and a grin formed his lip plates. “You wanna touch my beautiful, beautiful horn too, princess? “Let's rest for tonight.”, Feena suggested, before pressing a soft kiss on Cayde’s horn and Amanda’s cheek. She only knew them for a few hours, after a really terribly incident, but these two already meant anything to her. When the little family walked back to the shelter, all of them felt a moment of happiness and hope again, even though The Last City was in ruins and Cayde couldn't shut up about Amanda calling him a unicorn. *** Title: All I Want For Christmas Is You Pairing: Cayde-6 x female reader Rating: Explicit — Cayde hates Christmas and you're trying to get him into the mood with cookies, movies, cuddles, Last Christmas from Wham and more... „Merry Christmas, Caydie.” I hear a deep chuckle roar through his torso, as he turns around and puts his arms around me in return. I moan softly against his chest with a smile. His warmth and the familiar scent of leather and gunpowder was infatuating. „Hey beautiful.”, he greets me softly, his aqua blue optics looking me up and down in my sexy Santa dress. Another chuckle escapes his throat, the orange lights in the back of his throat flickering. „You look... ridiculous.”, he scoffs tender, pinching the fuzzy bobble of my Santa hat with his finger. I push him away from me, lift my dress up slightly and turn around slowly. „Your eyes say something different, my vanguard...”, I whisper seductively, looking over my shoulder and winking at him. He forcefully grabs a fistful of my dress and pulls me back to his body. „I mean it. Ridiculous.”, he repeats in a mocked tone. God, I loved it when this exo was a sassy. „But, but... I wear this for you...”, I whimper, turning away from him, starting to act out the most dramatic fake crying in the history of fake cries. „You hate it. I wanted to look pretty for our date.”, I sob and pretend to rub my eyes. „No, no, no... sweetie. You look stunning. I just hate Chr-”, I hear him awkwardly stutter behind my back, but I quickly turn around and laugh at his dumb but overall adorable helpless face. „Ha! Got you! You should see your stupid face!” I press a sweet kiss on his cold metal chin and take his hand. ”Now come on, we're late for the Christmas market at the Bazaar, Grumpy.”, I sąy and pull him with me out of his beloved Hangar. Cayde follows me more or less unwillingly and sighs. „I swear, if I hear Last Christmas one more time I'm gonna blow something up.”, he mutters under his breath and I can't help but smirk at him. „Can't lie, I would love to see that.” He chuckles, the orange lights behind his mouth-plates outlining a smirk back at me. „A girl after my own heart.”, he praises and gently puts his warm cloak around my bare back and shoulders. **** FULL STORIES (might be published on archiveofourown too) Title: In debt to love Pairing: Cayde-6 x OC other characters: Clovis Bray, Shiro-4 Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Romance Rating: Explicit Warnings: veeeery smutty, graphic violence, self-harm, ... — „... and hearts for this girl I guard. She's the best debt I've ever had.” Cayde is paying off his debt by guarding Coco Bray, the daughter of the man who ruined his life and turned him exo. Now or never. Swiftly and suddenly Coco closed her fingers around the handle of Cayde's gun and she pulled, knowing full well that she was taking a risk. Cayde quickly opened his optics as he felt her hand on his waist and his Ace of Spades being pulled from the holster, but it was already too late. The girl pushed and kicked the exo off her body with all the strength left in her weakened body and pointed the gun at him with a sweet smile, her face was a mixture of triumph and surprise. She finally had the upper hand. “Thanks for the ride, handsome. Any last words?” Cayde stared stunned at the pinkish haired girl pointing his own gun at him, but still he couldn't help but chuckle. A pretty girl with a pretty gun. His Ace Of Spades never suited anyone better. He should've known that something like this would happen, after all the things he heard about her. “You literally kick ass. Just a girl after my own heart, sweetheart.” He was completely at the her mercy, but decided to play along and raised his hands. “I'm impressed, I really hate so say this, doll. However, you won't do it.”, he gave back amused, before shoving her back on the ground again with his elbow, bending over her small frame. “If you blow a hole through my head, you better pray that I won't get fixed and come back at you, cause...”, he leans in closer to her, the muzzle of his own gun pressed upon his chest and his horn gently poking her forehead. “I'm gonna hurt you... make you cry... and fuck you into a coma.”, he hissed, sounding threatening and cheerful at the same time. She wouldn't shoot him, Cayde knew that. He hoped that. After all they've been through already, she wouldn't. She couldn't. The Ace Of Spades was shaking in Coco's hands. Her green eyes lost that glint of achievement and were replaced with the feeling of unshed tears beginning to blur her vision. If she really wanted to escape, she actually had to shoot him. Coco lifted her gaze and locked her eyes with his optics, her lips formed a sad smile, as her hands clasped tighter around the grip of his gun, her finger hovering over the trigger, that would decide her fate. His fate. “Please don't make me like you, Cayde-6.” “Isn't it too late, Coco Bray?” **** Title: Queen Of Hearts Pairing: Cayde-6 x OC other characters: Uldren Sov, Andal Brask (mentioned),... Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Romance, Adventure Rating: Explicit Warnings: suicide attempt, physical abuse — Cayde saves and kidnaps a princess, but she saves him too. Feena listened intently to every word Cayde was saying. She didn't know why, but she was intrigued by him. Just his voice alone was making her feel calm. “You're crazy.”, she said forcefully as she turned back towards the depth. “I am, but with all due respect, princess. I'm not the one who wants to jump off this castle.” His aqua blue optics stared at her and his mechanic heart broke for this girl. He blamed himself that he never noticed that she suffered in silence. Suffered so much that she wanted to end her life. “Please, give me your hand, princess. I don't know what happened to you, but I swear, I'll protect you better from now on.” Cayde reached out his gloved hand to her carefully, as not to frighten her. Feena looked down at his outstretched hand and she was surprised by her instinct to reach out and touch him. She slowly turned around to him and they both immediately locked eyes and optics. He felt his heart instantly stop when he looked into her green eyes and it shocked him that she was looking at him in the same way. “Phew,” he said relieved as he squeezed her soft, cold hand. “I'm Cayde-6.” “Princess Feena Brask.”, she breathlessly introduced herself as well. “I know damn well who you are.”, he chuckled, causing her to smile. That smile. He didn't know how long he was on duty in this castle, but he never saw her smile. It was beautiful. She was beautiful. Cayde looked at her in amazement when he finally saw life sparkle in her always so sad and empty eyes. Her long blonde hair was tickling his face plates and the scent was intoxicating. “I got you.” He gripped onto her waist as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and he lifted her up over the railing, feeling like his body was electrocuted in the most gentle way touching her. She was one slip away from death just second ago and he saved her. She was safe. Her heels clicked as they touched the ground, but her legs gave out on her and he was able to catch her before she hit the ground. He held her body close to his, their faces just inches apart. “Are you alright?”, he asked concerned, as he felt her chest rise and fall against his armor. “Never felt better.”, she said as her hands clung to his shoulders. Feena took a moment to take in Cayde's metallic features and felt her heart flutter, feeling so warm and safe in his embrace. Something she never felt before. “Who hurt you, my queen? I'm gonna kill anyone who hurt you. Anyone.” ______________________________________________________________ *changes/improvements possible. Soo... Which one is your fave? star-crossed just hit 1,000 kudos!
(klance / cinderella AU / fantasy & medieval elements)
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR AMAZING LOVE AND SUPPORT.
like, just, wow.
I never thought this story would amass such a loving audience and im humbled everyday when i log into AO3 and see the steady uptick in kudos, comments, bookmarks all of it. I check the stats on this fic religiously and I promise if you’ve even VIEWED the fic I’ve noticed, I watch it that closely. thank you, from the very bottom of my heart; there aren’t adequate words to express my gratitude.
I wanted to at least share something to mark this milestone, so here is the working introduction to the second installment. I’m so excited to get some of my other projects finished so I can dive back into this. :)
Lance had heard his fair share of folk tales from his Mamá, about people who rise above the station of their birth, about triumphing against bitter odds, about falling in love and living happily ever after. He remembered a lot of awfully convenient montages, glossing over the finer details of consequences. What happened to the villains? Did they get thrown in jail? Executed? Or what about the hero’s best friend, ex-lover, family—do they miss the hero once they go on to live their big, exciting lives, or is it always a happily ever after?
Maybe those are just the stories people like to tell. The stories people like to remember, where everyone is happy and the bad things only happen to bad people.
Most of the tales Lance knew didn’t tell him what happened when people are stuck living in the poverty they were born into, no matter how hard they try to get out of it; or what happens when the odds are not in the hero’s favor; or how love is so painfully unconditional, and impossible to explain, and that it could kill you much faster than any magical weapon or poisoned apple if you let it.
He was staring at the pages of an old tome, thick but well-maintained, the pages all in decent shape. It had been pulled from the archives by Sir Coran before he and the others returned to Altea, and Lance had found himself zoning out on the image of a pretty blonde human in the arms of her pretty human Prince Charming.
A weird thought occurred to him: would stories be written about Keith, like this one? It was easy to forget that Keith was indeed a figure of legends, would be memorialized like all the Princes and Queens and rulers that came before him.
Would people make up harrowing things to say about them?
Lance almost laughed out loud before turning the page. “Pfft. No.”
Because, first of all, Prince Charming? Out of the long list of words Lance would use to describe his fiancé, charming was not really one of them. Irritable, thoughtful, and just mullet, to name a few.
and, a few other small things to share in celebration, I’ve included two scenes beneath the cut
deleted scene from epilogue pt. 2 untitled dream sequence from the second installment
deleted scene from epilogue, pt. 2 conversation between paladins, Allura and Coran keith POV
[Allura continued.] “I want to give you the best answer available, I need to have all the information surrounding this whole mess first. For that to happen…” she sighed, a sound of abrupt sadness slipping through a clearly, if not expertly, worn façade. “I need to ask you all a favor, but once again, unfairly, much of the burden for this falls to Lance. It is of paramount importance that you tell me exactly what transpired between you and Lotor, starting from the first night he approached you.”
The tan-skinned teenager blinked a few times, and Keith thought he looked paler than when he and Shiro first arrived. Gently, he gave Lance’s hand a little squeeze. “Oh. Umm. I mean, I can, I just -- what do you need to know?”
Fingers steepled in front of her nose, the Princess sighed. “As much as you feel you’re comfortable sharing, I suppose, but I would say the more the better. I just don’t know enough of what the Galra have planned, or if this is connected to Zarkon, Lotor, the witch -- none of them, all of them?” she sounded unusually frustrated, a fist coming down on the table. The mouses scurried towards different paladins, leaving the two Alteans to stare at each other. Keith didn’t mind the mouse, but he did glower at Allura -- she didn’t mean anything by it, he knew, but perhaps the nonverbal warning would be enough to have her compose herself. No need to project her anger towards Keith’s fiancé.
“I — I mean, I can try, some of the stuff Lotor said was really…” he paused to bite his lip, and Keith felt a strange twist in his stomach when Lance’s eyes darted anxiously towards him. “It was sort of… personal. I was kind of trying to forget about it, to be honest. Thinking about it makes me… I don’t know, I can tell you if you think it’s important, but it might...make you mad?”
By the end, Lance wasn’t talking to Allura anymore, and Keith’s hand was moving before he could really think about it.
“Hey, stop that,” the Prince said, brushing his thumb over the abused skin of Lance’s bottom lip so he might stop with the self-harming habit. “Don’t bottle things up for my benefit. If you have something you want to say, say it. I can’t promise I won’t get mad, but I can promise I’ll get over it.”
Shiro barely concealed his snort with a cough. “Wow, Keith, that might be the most mature thing you’ve ever said.”
Keith attempted to kick Shiro under the table. “Fuck you, old man.”
That made Lance laugh, and while Pidge made a point to do a loud gagging demonstration, it did little to distract from the simple pleasure Keith felt at being responsible for eliciting such a pretty sound from his fiancé.
Lance’s shoulders were still visibly tense, but he didn’t look quite as uneasy about the subject when he met Allura’s steely, blue-soulfire gaze. “Okay. I guess, what, start from the third night of the ball? That’s when I really interacted with Lotor. A little on the second night, but he was mostly just being a dick.”
Nodding, the Princess gestured for Coran to take a seat beside her. A writing utensil and fresh piece of parchment seemed to materialize in the advisors’ hand.
“Queen Krolia has managed to supply some basic information on what happened when you and Lotor spoke privately in the infirmary, but due to the nature of your healing, the resources expended on gathering testimony, and all the other din of these past few quintant, it doesn’t appear you’ve given any sort of statement about what you and Lotor talked about -- the night of the peace summit, and then explicitly what was discussed that night in the infirmary. I know this is asking a lot, but it’s important that we’re all on the same page if we’re to try to fight whatever this is.”
“I — well — I guess I just hadn’t thought about, like, talking to anyone about it, like in a reporting-way.” He looked thoughtful for a moment before choosing a place to begin. “The night of the peace accord thing, he said I had to dance with him, or he was going to tell the realm that I was in a relationship with Keith. In retrospect, it doesn’t sound like a big deal, but he had… framed it… in a sort of shitty way.”
“Meaning?”
Lance swallowed, his hold on Keith’s hand slipping away as his complexion took on a rosy tint. “Uhh… well, he said, um… like, it was insulting to me to, ya know, sleep with Keith. He said I could do a lot better… and obviously implied that he was the better option. Like, it would have been a big scandal or something for both Keith and you, since, like, both of you were still supposed to be getting married at the time? That’s about when Coran showed up. Oh, and er, he also saiiiiiid…” his voice turned sing-songy, face even redder. “That I was special, and uh, that he would find a way to ‘make me his,’ basically no matter what. He said ‘Keith is your price’, which like, I don’t know if I’m super okay with the idea of talking about myself in those terms, but… I didn’t really have a good comeback that wouldn’t put both your reputations in jeopardy, so I just didn’t answer.”
From the side of the table, Hunk looked like he wanted to reach over and scoop Lance up like a baby. “Buddy...”
Lance cleared his throat, staring at Coran’s hand as it flew over the page, not meeting anyone’s eye. “I’m fine, Hunk. The next time I saw him was after everything, I was in that private room Sir Adam let me use. I woke up, and I was just like, bam, on the ground. It was sort of dizzying and I hadn’t been sleeping super well so I guess, I just didn’t know how to react at first. He told me back talk wasn’t —” A pause, and Lance pursed his lips. “He told me not to talk and to just listen. So, ya know, I wasn’t in a position to fight him, so I did as he said. I mean, my back was exposed and he basically was standing on me so I didn’t have a choice.”
Lance sat up, back arching a bit as he ran his hands through his hair. Keith noticed his fingers were shaking when he pulled them back down and into his lap again. Silently, the Prince was simmering beneath the surface, his blood hot and roaring in his ears. The edge of his vision had tinted red.
“And then there was a lot of the same stuff again. He was super fixated on the fact that I was with Keith. I don’t know, I feel like he jumped around a lot, because after that there was this big monologue about how the realm was about to go to war. And that no matter what happened, as long as... I was alive, there would be a war… unless I became one of his ‘consorts.’ I know, it was really fucked up.” Lance added the last sentence quickly, arms crossed in front of his chest.
“Um. He went through this whole list, pretty much. He said Daibaazal would absorb Olkarion, and then Altea would be next or something. And that his dad is on some super fucked up power trip, feeling like he’s not important anymore with Marmora and Altea around. And that the guy who had the bomb, he asked me if I saw him -- I did. He looked… Olkari, but Lotor seemed like he expected that? Like, he said it was probably an Altean shape-shifted as an Olkari. Um… what else… oh, yeah. Um. He gave me an ultimatum, and said if I didn’t go along with him, my choices were:” Lance began ticking them off on his fingers, one by one. “Let Zarkon kill me, like, I think he said make an example or maybe a martyr of me or something; make a statement that I was the one who set off the bomb so I might not get literally murdered by his Dad, instead, I would, hah --” he let out a humorless chuckle -- “I could just fucking hang for it instead. How messed up is that? Or I could let the realm go to war if I stayed in Marmora. Or, lastly, I could agree to be his -- his personal bitch, basically. I don’t know what goes into being a consort but I have an idea, and I -- yeah. I didn’t have much of a choice, though I told him to fuck off and that I’d rather let Zarkon kill me with his bare hands than spend another second with him.”
Keith had never in his life tried so hard to control the devastatingly violent impulse of his Galra heritage, but his gums tingled with the insistent pressure of fangs pushing against his mouth. Even the skin of his fingers felt strange, like he could so easily just let go of his control and the tips could sharpen into claws in seconds if he let them.
Breaking Lotor’s wrist now felt pathetically underwhelming. He should have just killed him. The realm would have been better for it.
“Anyway... Lotor wasn’t super happy about that, I know, shocker. And he basically said he would buy my family, you know, since we’re all fucking slaves or whatever, if I didn’t do what he said. I didn’t -- I didn’t know what to do. I want to say I would never agree to that but just, f-fuck, I’m sorry.” Lance’s voice cracked at the end, the sound of tears edging into his tone. His arms, already folded over his chest, tightened. “So, yeah. That’s when the Queen showed up.”
“Stars above, I’m so… sorry. I had no idea it was that severe.” Allura sounded disturbed, and both Hunk and Pidge were exchanging nervous glances with each other. Keith couldn’t see Shiro, seeing as he was turned to face Lance, who was staring down at the box on the table in front of him with a clenched jaw and dry eyes.
“I’m okay,” Lance said for the second time, and some of the immediate emotion had drained from his voice. “Keith’s mom showed up before I had to agree to anything. That’s all that happened with Lotor, though. The only other thing was the vision-dream thing I had with Blue… I told you guys about that while Keith was getting his stitches, right?”
Various people nodded, and Keith vaguely remembered hearing Lance’s voice, too-loud to be speaking to people nearby but that was just how Lance was, somewhere off to his side. He made a mental note to ask him to re-explain the details to that later.
“...So, yeah. That’s all I can really remember. I don’t remember Lotor mentioning anything about Oriande or any of this stuff.”
“Yes, well,” the Princess laid out both her hands on the table, and as if a silent call, all four mice returned to her in a sudden rush of paws and squeaks. “I’m not sure of anything at this point, but I am near certain that this is the witch’s doing at minimum. Whether it is Zarkon or Lotor who she is aiding, we will still have to consider all of this information. The fact that Lotor seemed to find it unacceptable that you die, so much so that he was willing to blackmail you, leads me to believe he might be more invested in this than I had previously thought. It could have been his pathetic attempt at courtship, but I’m not sure. Whatever it is, the reality is the same: something is happening to the realm, and if more corruption like that we saw earlier from that Beast spread, I fear the whole realm may be in danger. For now, we will have to continue to gather information, try to understand what exactly they’re planning.”
unpublished from part 2:
untitled dream sequence
lance POV
His legs weren’t working properly.
Lance felt them buckling, like his torso and arms and head and heart were weighed down by the entire universe. Why? Why couldn’t he use his legs? He wasn’t even standing, so the fact that his dumb legs weren’t working seemed especially frustrating to him. Laying on his stomach, Lance pushed himself up to a sit-up, the bottom half of his body utterly useless at the moment. Ugh.
Someone was calling his name, but the voice was warbled and hard to place, like he’d been trapped beneath the ice of a lake and there was someone pounding on the other side, trying to find him.
Craning his neck, it was with a small start that he realized he knew this place, dark and infinite and magnificent in every direction, but he couldn’t move. What was it called? Why couldn’t he remember? Blue told him about it...
“Blue? Blue, are you here?” He turned, annoyed by his lack of motion, but blinked in surprise at the sight of something much, much bigger than the little kitten he was expecting.
Lance’s mouth dropped open, but no sound came out.
It was the single most beautiful, overwhelming things he’d ever seen.
About fifteen paces away, a massive tree sprouted from the ground, crowded by iridescent leaves. There was no breeze that he could feel on his face or brushing through his hair, but the leaves danced and shimmered anyway. A million colors, reds and blues and greens and whites and yellows -- and every color in between, peach and cream and mahogany and turquoise and blush and lavender -- colors that he didn’t even have names for, was pretty sure weren’t even on the real spectrum of light, all glittering crystal-bright in the dark expanse of the empty space around him. In every direction, the ground was the black surface of an endless ocean, rippling when Lance moved but otherwise flawlessly reflective. It sent back an inversion of the same sight, an overwhelming sense of purity, of flawlessness, of flowing sublimity with the roots at the center.
Lance couldn’t breathe, awestruck.
What was it? Why was it here?
Oh, gods. Lance used to believe people had always been dramatic when they heard a song or saw a painting so beautiful that they were brought to tears, but this was his comeuppance for that attitude, evidently. His cheeks were wet, and the corners of his eyes were pulsing light blue.
This was definitely some sort of… something otherworldly. Magical.
Shit. Shit, shit, uhhh, fuck, this was probably important, wasn’t it? Was this some sort of dream-vision thing? In his stream of consciousness, dream-Lance tried to will himself to summon a dream-roll-of-parchment and a dream-inkpot, but all that amounted to was making him strangely dizzy.
After attempting to summon things, and dealing with the subsequent disappointment, Lance hauled himself up as best as he could with his hands, sort of like a mix between a push-up and an army crawl.
Chewing his lip, Lance eyed the immaculate branches, overlapping but never touching, a faultless flow of leaves brushing back in forth, almost lazily.  It was a sort of breathtaking, heart-stopping, gun-wrenching sort of beauty.
Blinding, almost.

Once Bitten, Twice Stupid 119
119
Lance was sleeping in the car as Keith parked in front of the bookshop where Colleen was waiting with Coran, who’d brought a wheelchair up. Keith was glad the drive back was over. Matt and Pidge were exhausting. Snacks were scattered through Lance’s bronco, despite him scolding them to stop throwing food at each other. Matt helped Pidge out and into the wheelchair, Kosmo inviting himself to follow them out
“You guys go ahead, I’m going to wake Lance up”
Coran nodded, preoccupied with Kosmo. Colleen taking control of the wheelchair, Pidge calling out “remember me how I used to be” as she was wheeled towards the bookshop. Folding his seat down, Keith didn’t want to disturb Lance. His boyfriend deserved his sleep, buuuuut, the vomiting had him worried and he wanted Coran to check Lance out as soon as possible.
Climbing into the backseat, he undid Lance’s belt, Lance stirring at the belt sliding back into its holder
“Hey, you”
Smiling at him sleepily, Lance still didn’t look well
“Hey yourself, Mullet. We there?”
“Yeah, babe. Here in one piece”
“Mmm, good job, babe”
“You okay?”
“Just tired... I’ll be okay”
Keith wanted to believe him. Having seen Lance throw up more than once did nothing to give him confidence. He’d nearly lost it at Pidge when she’d elbowed Lance
“We’re heading down to Coran’s office. Let’s get you out the car”
“I’m sorry... I really don’t want to move”
“I know but you wanted to see Coran. Let’s get you checked out then I’ll take you home”
“Alright... I’m too exhausted to even argue back”
Keith kept his arm around his stumbling boyfriend. Lance kept yawning, his head against Keith’s shoulder. Keith had no idea if this was normal or if Lance was lacking in blood. He was surely dehydrated, Keith worried that’d affect their baby, not just his precious boyfriend. The holiday had been relaxing, a little up and down, but very much needed and appreciated. He still had to question how Hunk had found out, but that was a job for later. Lance seemed happier for Hunk knowing, Keith a tad jealous that Lance had sought comfort from Hunk than him, yet extremely grateful Hunk had accepted their news without making Lance feel too insecure to talk to him.
Pidge was up on Coran’s examination bed when they got there, hovering in the doorway. Colleen scolding her daughter, while Pidge’s face burnt with embarrassment. She looked ready to turn on them, Coran trying his best to calm everyone down, though he seemed slightly scared of Colleen. Keith was ashamed to admit that he wished Coran would assign someone else to Pidge so Lance could be checked over. He loved Pidge, but she wasn’t carrying his baby
“Boys, if you want to take a seat, I’ll be with you shortly. Colleen, perhaps you’d like to hold Pidge’s hand. Pidge, you’ll be right as rain in tickety-boo”
“Shortly” was too long. He was a horrible friend. What he actually wanted was two Coran’s, or a magical time machine that’d speed up hearing Pidge was going to be okay. Her knee and ankle were both swollen, having done a pretty good job sending herself flying. Coran must have been told off for calling her “Katie”. The poor man couldn’t catch a break. It was best they head out and Lance got some rest  before someone snapped
“Actually, Coran, can we grab a blood bag? And borrow a conference room? Lance is a little dehydrated from sleeping in the sun”
“Good heavens, of course you can. Lance, what have I told you about keeping up your fluids”
Lance sighed at the pair of them
“Sorry, Coran. Keith’s doing that thing where he worries too much”
“Because you’ve barely eaten today!”
“Because I was too tired!”
“You still should have eaten!”
“And you’re worrying too much!”
“Boys! Please. Matt, why don’t you grab Lance a blood bag out the fridge. Keith, you may use the main conference room. The Blades are out at the moment. Lotor fancied shopping, they’re providing an escort for him and Allura”
Keith hoped Allura wasn’t mad at not being able to come on the trip. It would have been nice to have her, yet another secret to try and keep over her slightly inhuman features. Matt rolled across the room on the examination stool, grabbing a blood bag out the fridge and rolling backwards over to them
“Save yourselves. Mum’s mad Pidge fell over...”
Colleen fixed Matt with a “mother” glare that sent a shiver down Keith’s spine
“That’s enough Matthew”
“Don’t be mad at them. They weren’t there when Pidge decided to show the world why she never made the Olympics”
“No, but you were. Honestly, when will the pair of you act your age?”
“Whelp. It was nice knowing you guys...”
Keith tugged Lance back with him, Matt closing the door, Collen’s voice cut off as she started yelling at him
“She scares me”
Lance nodded
“Yep. You didn’t have to dob me in”
“I’m allowed to be worried”
“I’m fine... seriously, find me a corner and let me sleep”
“Not until you’ve eaten”
Lance sighed, Keith knowing it was a sigh of defeat
“Then I can go back to sleep?”
“I promise”
“Lead the way...”
    *
Lance made good on napping the moment he could. Keith found himself in the Blade’s main room from muscle memory, it seemed too much effort to find another room when this one empty. Draining the blood bag, Lance fell asleep too fast after eating. First he didn’t even want to eat, then he did, then he was asleep. In that order, with very little time between each step. With Lance sleeping, Keith had nothing to do but look at the pile of papers that’d seemed to accumulate while he’d been gone. There contained schematics of a building with no street address, and that was about the most interesting thing in the paper work.
About an hour later their peace was disturbed. Pidge wheeling herself in, foot in a moon boot, as Matt held the door open
“Hey, losers! Look what I’ve got!”
Keith regretted everything thought he’d had about Coran needing to prioritise Lance when he say that boot. What kind of friend was he?!
“Pidge...”
“Relax, it’s a bad sprain. Coran put her in it because it’s the only way to keep the gremlin down”
Their talking roused Lance, sleepily he looked to Pidge, eyes widening
“Pidge?”
Coran chuckled, ruffling Pidge’s hair. Pidge looking murderous about it
“She’ll be just fine. Tippity-Top in no time!”
“She’ll be staying at home until she’s given clearance to be up and walking around again”
Pidge whined at her mother
“Muuuuuum. I’m fine. I’ve got these hell cool wheels to test out”
“That’s enough. You’re very lucky Coran was able to see you on short notice”
“My door is always open to friends. I feel like I’ve know our young Pidge for years”
“I would prefer she not get herself into these kinds of accidents to begin with”
“Mum, it was an accident! I didn’t exactly plan on face-planting!”
“I’m really sorry she was hurt...”
What was Lance apologising for? Right, because he was Lance. Colleen pinched the bridge of her nose like Shiro would have
“This one is all on her. I’m relieved it wasn’t worse”
“You guys are fussing too much”
Matt chuckled at his sister
“That’s because we love our little Pidgeon. We’re going to split. I’ll let the others know Pidge is under house arrest”
“Shoot me already”
Pidge was going to be okay. Accidents happened. It wasn’t serious. A bad sprain wasn’t going to kill her... Keith took a deep breath. His heart racing at the sight of his friend like that, but he tried to be okay knowing she’d be okay
“Maybe we should find that ankle monitor you gave me for my birthday?”
Pidge gaped at him, before pouting
“I’m not the one who needs it...”
Lance snorted with laughter
“I don’t know. We all know you can’t keep a good gremlin down”
Pidge wheeled herself slightly backwards
“Well, I’m out of here! Later losers. Thanks for the weekend!”
“I’ll talk to you guys later. You right to get back to Garrison?”
“Yeah. I’ve got my car. See you later, guys. Nice to see you again, Colleen”
“You to, Lance, Keith”
Coran let out a long breath once the trio had departed, before lightly slapping his palms against his cheeks
“I would not like to be Pidge. Colleen is a most formidable woman”
Lance yawned softly, nodding as he did
“She scares me. You probably get along with her better because you sub-contract out to her”
“We’ve met very rarely. I never would have placed her as Pidge’s mother. Now, my boy, I do believe you wanted me to a little looksie at you?”
Keith butted in before Lance could downplay his exhaustion
“He’s been tired all weekend. His body temperature dropped on the Saturday and he needed hours in front of the fireplace to bring it back up. He’s also been throwing up more and having trouble with scents”
Coran hummed, fingers going to play with the top of his moustache
“Fatigue and exhaustion are exceptionally common during the first trimester. As is feeling moody, and, or, hormonal. Let’s head to my office and I’ll do your blood work”
Lance went to get up, only to trip, and hit his head against the table. Keith rushing to his side as his boyfriend groaned
“Babe!”
“I’m okay... my legs are still asleep like the rest of me”
His head wasn’t bleeding, but the egg was already swelling up
“That’s it, I’m carrying you”
“I’m...”
“You’re not fine. You had a whole bag of blood but you’re still tired as hell”
Lance sheepishly amended what he was going to say
“I’m going to be carried?”
“Yes. Now hold onto me”
Hefting Lance up, his boyfriend was blushing, hand rubbing at the egg forming on his forehead
“Stop rubbing it”
“It hurts”
“All the more reason to leave it alone”
Coran laughed at the pair of them
“I can see you had a long weekend. I’ll try to be as quick as possible to you may go home and rest. I’d love to hear about all your adventures, if you’ve got time to fill this old fae in”
“Keith can tell you. I slept a lot and we went for a walk around a smell pond...”
“He overheated on the walk”
“You’ve got a big mouth for a man without a knife”
“And you said you wanted to talk to Coran, which means talking honestly”
Coran adding to conversation
“And I think perhaps this isn’t the place”
Carrying Lance to Coran’s office, things were still slightly messy from the fae treating Pidge. It was the messiest he’d ever seen Coran’s office. Laying Lance on the bed, Lance immediately sighed as he sank back against the bed both of them knew wasn’t all that comfortable
“Right. Sleeve up, shirt up, let’s see what’s happening... oooh, I’ve been dying to see this little one again”
“You’re going to do an ultrasound?”
Keith hadn’t thought about Coran doing an ultrasound, he just wanted Lance to feel better and stuff...
“I will. I’m afraid I’ll be going in internally... I guess pants off too would be best”
“I’ll help him while you clean up”
“Do I get a say in this?”
An ultrasound did sound like a good idea. How were they supposed to know if everything was okay if they couldn’t see the baby?
“No. We have to make sure everything is okay with you and the baby”
“I hate it when my arse has to suffer for logic”
“I love you and your arse. You’ll be okay...”
Lance huffed at him
“It’s not your arse being probed at”
“No, but if you’re good I’ll buy you whatever you want to eat on the way home”
“Can I choose sleep instead?”
Lance would eat, then nap. He wasn’t getting out of it. Whatever his boyfriend wanted, he’d pay for, provided Lance gave him directions of where to go
“Nope. You have to eat”
“You’re so mean to me. Coran, can I at least keep my legs covered? I’m too tired to do much of anything”
Sure, my boy. I’ll get you a blanket for privacy. You’ll need to tuck your knee up to your chest for me. Please try to bare with it”
Lance’s face made the same expression as when Kosmo had his first anal thermometer. There was no happiness in his eyes, which reminded him his precious puppy was missing
“Where’s Kosmo?”
“I put him in Allura’s office. Oh, dear. I forgot he was in there...”
How could Coran forget Kosmo? How could he forget Kosmo?
“Babe, you can go get him...”
Now he was torn. Lance was finally in Coran’s hands, but Coran was going to start the ultrasound and he didn’t want to miss it... Buuuuut Kosmo was probably destroying Allura’s office. Was it too much to push the responsibility onto Coran seeing he locked Kosmo in there?
“I’ll get him after your scan...”
“I don’t mind if you want to go now”
“Are you saying I should?”
“Nope... I want you stay, but my butt isn’t enjoying this”
“It’s a nice butt”
“It’s be nicer without this huge arse wand up it”
Both of them shut up when the image of their baby came up on the screen. Keith staring at the black blob, semi confused by the greyish line...
“Oh my...”
That didn’t sound good
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing is wrong, per say, but you’ll have twice the preparation to carry out”
“What?”
The question sounded dull, Keith not sure what Coran meant
“Yes, you can clearly see two sacks...”
“But there was only one before”
“It is possible to miss...”
Lance blinked half a dozen times
“Coran. You better not be fucking around. There was one. One. What do you mean there’s two”
“That’s how twins work... oh, my. Let me just...”
Keith went wobbly. Two... how were there two? There was one last time. One macaroon to worry about... what... how was there two?!
“Are you sure it’s not something he ate?”
Lance glared at him, Coran chuckling, Keith not appreciating either reaction
“My dear boys, there is indeed two in there and this should confirm it”
A strange noise filled the room, like two racing beats... Lance asking
“Is that...?”
“You’re far along enough now detect both heartbeats. Oh... two babies! You’re going to have your hands quite full! One was a stroke of luck it was! It shows how deeply connected you are...”
“But you said...”
“It is possible one was behind the other, but they’re making themselves known now. Growing one baby is hard enough, two... I can certainly see why you’re exhausted my boy!”
Lance sighed
“I really am... is... are they both okay? I mean... we thought it was one?”
“Both little ones have a good strong beat... I’ll take some fresh photos and measurements. We’ll increase your blood intake to match. It’s very important you...”
Everything swam. The room spinning. Keith out of it before he hit the floor, his last thought before fainting was once again “how are there two?!”.
    *
Lance couldn’t react as Keith crumpled to the ground. He was in shock. Shock that... no way. He’d barely wrapped his head around one. Why was there two? He was getting his mind around one... why... no, how?
“Keith!”
The vampires face burned in embarrassment as Coran left the wand inside of him, to move around the examination table to Keith. Keith groaning as Coran looped his arm around him and moved the hunter to sit in the chair beside his desk
“Whaaa...”
“Just a little fainting spell. I imagine the news of twins was completely unexpected. Lance did have high hormone levels, I suspected it was thanks to his unique physiology...”
Keith looked completely ashen. Lance’s eyes filling with guilty tears. How were there possibly two in there?! His boyfriend was scared when there was only one... two would surely mean he was worrying twice as much. Wasn’t he at the age where his fertility shouldn’t this good? Or did have super potent baby making sperm? And shouldn’t the testosterone in his system help prevent pregnancy? Was that why his ego was sending him crazy? Did the vampire in him already know he was carrying two? Making him twice the moody bitch he was? Twice the amount of blood he usually drank was a lot of blood. Like... way too much. He’d been careful for so many years to split a bag into three... Would keith be turned off by him drinking more human blood when he was still fighting to settle himself over Lance feeding on strangers? This had to be a joke... despite the evidence right of him. Evidence that screamed this was no joke. He’d heart their heartbeats before the wand slipped. Two racing rhythms of two balls of cells that’d be human someday in the not so distant future
“Place your head between your legs, and take deep breaths”
What was going on in Keith’s head? Keith was only child. He’d never had a brother until he was already an adult. He’d missed out on all the fights that came with having siblings, and what was Shiro going to say about there being two? Would he be allowed to keep them both? Or would he be labelled as a threat and forced to run? Where would he run? He couldn’t leave Mami. She was old. She only had so much time in this world. He’d never leave her behind to spend it alone. He couldn’t choose between her and Keith. He wanted both of them. He needed both of them... soft sobs escaped his lips. Coran said these symptoms were normal, yet all Lance had done lately was sleep and cry. He wasn’t normal. He’d kept his emotions reined in so tightly that the metaphoric straps bit into his hands. Would it be selfish to want both? Two little Keith’s... with Keith’s big purple eyes and messy black hair...
“Oh, babe...”
Keith ignored Coran’s instructions, pushing himself over to grip Lance’s hands
“Babe... Hey, look at me. Whatever you’re thinking, I still love you”
Him... He loved Keith. He’d never found love in anyone like he did with Keith. Keith was the oxygen to his lungs... he might be dead but the blood in his system still needed oxygen... sure, he could hold his breath far longer than a human and sometimes he questioned his need to breathe. But without Keith his lungs didn’t work. The space seemed deprived and cold, like being sucked into the vacuum of space
“I want to go home”
“We will. We’ll go home. Coran’s going to clean you up and then we’ll get Kosmo and we’ll go home”
They both needed to think. He couldn’t tell Keith he wanted to go home in an attempt to run away until his thoughts made sense again
“Garrison...”
“We can go back to Garrison. We can... we... we’ll work this out...”
“But... we...”
“Rieva knows. Matt’s in Platt... we’ll kick everyone out, if that’s what you need”
Lance let out a louder sob
“I don’t deserve you”
Leaning down, Keith nuzzled into his hair affectionately. He was showing Keith all the uncool sides of him again
“I love you. I love all of you... we’ll work it out...”
“How...?”
“I don’t know, babe. But you’re not alone...”
“I didn’t...”
“Shhh... we didn’t know. We didn’t know...”
“I don’t deserve you being kind to me”
“I’m not going to run from this... I need to think, but you’re not... I’m not walking away from you. No matter what you think”
“I just want you to be happy”
“And we will be, together. Coran, can you please clean him. We’re not staying here”
Coran came to the head of the bed, placing his hand on Lance’s shoulder as he softly answered
“Of course, my boys. We’ll keep the scan appointment for in a few days. I’m prescribing lots of rest, and keep your food and blood intake up. You’re going to be emotional, and your fatigue is most likely increased by your emotions. I want you to rest. I’ll extend you leave until the next scan, Keith. If anything happens, you are to bring him here immediately”
“Will anything happen?”
“I’m not sure. Both heartbeats are good and solid. I would ask you to stay longer, yet neither of you seem particularly keen on that. You are both shocked, and this situation is unique... sexual intercourse is fine provided Lance is getting enough nutrients and energy. Have you been giving him his injections?”
“I’ve been... I forgot to yesterday... and I don’t remember if we...”
Nope. Keith was asleep on his feet again and Lance had spent the morning throwing up as his zombie boyfriend tried to human before coffee
“Not this morning... we were packing”
“These injections are important. The demands on your body will be higher with multiples. You may not like it, but each injection will be given with fresh blood. I trust you, Keith, to organise this. Lance, it may not be what you want to hear, but this is what your body needs. Aggression can be a sign you are not getting enough energy from the amount of blood you currently consume. I know you have your own beliefs on this, yet what is important now is keeping your energy levels high to compensate for their energy lost. Keith, make sure you don’t allow him to sleep for days at a time. If he becomes lethargic to the point he won’t wake, you must give him blood immediately and bring him in. Lance, we will get you through this pregnancy, but I am out of my depths with multiple births. I will not allow anything to go wrong under my watch”
Things sounded somehow worse than ever. Did it not count that he was trying? That he was forcing himself and making the effort despite knowing it’d come back up?! Apparently he was an unfit father already... He’d wanted to sit and explain things to Coran. He wanted to understand why he was acting like he’d never acted before. He didn’t expect this. That a lack of blood could cause anger, well, he knew that, but he was already drinking more than ever. He should be stronger than this! He was 45, not 8... and he was a goddamn vampire. His ego was so on edge that his nails felt tender, ready to extend if Coran kept going on as he was
“See, babe. Coran’s going to make sure you’re okay, and that you’ll be okay...”
“I feel like the most immature person in the room... what happened to my awkward boyfriend?”
Keith kissed his hair again
“He fell hopelessly in love”
“You really a kind of hopeless. But, like, a little bit hopeless”
“Nah, I’m completely fucking whipped. Now, what do you want to eat?”
He didn’t want to, but Keith was trying to distract him from Coran
“I think... maybe strawberries?”
“And what else?”
“Italian?”
“Done. You’ll have to give me directions”
“Okay, but I’m paying”
“Nope. Let me be all manly”
“You’re very manly”
“I do try my hardest”
“You’re very trying too...”
Keith pouted at him, Lance adding
“But that’s something I really like about you”
His boyfriend brightened a little, not enough to make Lance feel better about his failed joke
“I really love you, Keith”
“I know. I love you, too”

It wasn’t the first time he was here but he still didn’t know what this place. He had walked around here for a bit not knowing where to go seeing as this place looked the same no matter where he went but sometimes as he walked he would see Keith just walking around looking confused by what was going on. But when he saw Hunk ,pidge or lance not moving at all which confused him they all were looking up and talking to someone that was just out off his sight. He wonder why he or keith hadn’t see whoever this mysterty person was . He had to ask them later when they woke up.
He keep walking around the empty plane. But as he walked he heard the sound of people Taking and a banging sound echoed throughout the plane .
“ Hey big guy time to walk up “ A familiar voice said  as the plane he was in started going dark. Then he walk up and found himself walking out of the healing pod that he had been placed in and fall forward and was caught but someone

“Alright them “ Shiro said
After getting dressed Rolo explained in more details on what had happened the passed three days. first was how Matt showed off a system that He and pidge had been working that tracked Galra movements. how Most of the crew tried to get the loins to bond with them but no one could make it work and How Adam and Jay got into a wrestling match along with other not to important thing that had happened the passed three days . then they entered the bridge to find everyone talking to each other. Everyone turned to look at at the Shiro and rolo
“ Morning Shiro “ Jay said giving a two finger salute
“ Go to see you up and running again “ Adam said as he walked towards Shiro and kissed him on the check.
“ Yeah it’s good to be up “ shiro returned adams kiss then he looked up to Jay “ So what Happened between you two while i was A sleep anyway” Shiro asked as jay’s face went a little pale as everyone turned to look at him
“ Well it’s a long Story” Jay said taking a few steps back near one of the tube that lead to one of the lions
“Oh No you dont “ Allura yelled as she grabbed Jay by the front of the shirt and pulled him into a headlock
“ Ok Ok I won’t leave “ Jay yelled
“ What is going on?” Shiro asked
“ She stopped me from leave before i told you that your going to be a dad welcome to parent Hood.can you let me go now Allura?” JAy asked as she let him go “ Now let me explain how this happened “ jay said a
Twenty minutes later Shiro was sit on the floor trying his best to process what he just heard.
“So this gain child will have curtain aspects of their parents like a normal kid right ?” Shiro asked as he held the first of his metal arm
“ Yes it will you have two week until it’s born so decide if you want it or not because if you don’t i’ll take care of them in your stead. “ Jay said as he rubbed his upper arm as everyone looked at him.
Shiro looked at Adam then to Jay “ I, We need time to take more about this But i’m not mad about your mistake but i am mad that you keep this for me for a long time.” Shiro said
“ That hurt more then the punch i was expe”Jay was cut off by A punch to the stomach by keith causing Jay to double over
“ Keith what the hell” Lance yelled
“ No lance i earned that one” Jay said as hre place his hand onto keith shoulder using him as leverage
“ Sorry about that i went onto Autopilot for a second there “ Keith said
“ No again it’s fine i eared that one so don’t be sorry . Now to change topics Coran please explain a trade moon please “ Jay said
“ Well Traders moons are dangerous black marks that are own by a race of space pirates called the Unilu. So we need to be very castion of what were doing. So keep one hand on your wallet and the other on your bayard” Coran said Then everyone turned to look at matt and Ace. Matt , Nyma and rolo were all trying to hold back laughter while Ace was smiling While no know what n-7 was doing
“ Oh i can’t while to be there “ Hunk said sarcastically
“ So who is going and who is Staying ?” Pidge Said
“ While Me and my team have dires to go through So were Staying behind” Ace said as the Matt and the other groan a little
“ I’m Going to Stay behind and try to deepen my bond with the black lion “ Shiro said still holding his wrist .
“ Well i’m going “Allura said
“ I’m sorry Princess but it’s to dangerous “ Coran said
Allure frowned A little
“ Don’t worry boss i’ll buy you something Nice “  Jay said as he and others left the bridge.
“ Make sure it’s Sparkly” Allure said
“ can do boss” Jay replied as the door closed behind him
Allura sat down and looked over to Shiro who was still sitting there holding his wrist.
“ Are you Alright Shiro do you want me to bring Jay back here.?” Allura asked
“ No” Shiro said
“ Then what is on your mind then ?” Allura asked as she walked over to him
“ I Just wonder how raising a child in a war zone will affect the child’s development and will they get what i had or what will happen to the child if i die before they are born. Also why would jay not tell me early about this. I mean i get it he has his plate full with three kids of his own to watch over but still this is a huge bomb just to drop on someone. “ Shiro looked like he as about to cry “ i’m not ready to be a parent not yet. But i saw how happy Adam was when i walked in. “ pause for a moment and collected himself  “i always had a plan for my life. But now i’m fight a cross Galaxy war with a kid on the way what am i going to do about this. “
“I think you should just see where it leads you life is sometime better when you don’t have a plan. i mean life gave me you give and it’s been going pretty well. But that’s just for me” Allura said
“ Your starting to sound Jay “ Shiro said laughing a little
“ Well he does have that effect on people” Alura replied
“ Well thanks for the pep talk. Princess but i’m still going to need sometime to think this over.” Shiro said as he got up and started to walk out of the room. but he stopped at the door and turned around “ Thanks again Allura i need that “
“ Your welcome Shiro and if you ever need some one to Talk to i’m always he “ She replied
“  I will “ Shiro said as the door opened and he walked out
Allura had a smile on he face as she sat back down “ Now what am i going to do now” Allura wondered as she did this the Altean mice crawled onto to her lap and looked up to her and She looked down to them and then a silent conversion began between the Allura and her pet mice “ Oh dinner and A show that sounds lovely “ Allura said with a smile
Elsewhere
Coran was leading Keith ,Lance, Pidge , Adam Hunk, And Jay towards an Altean pod
“ So why aren’t we taking the Cargo ship that has a huge amount of space has to plasma gun to the front and it has auto defence turrets on it when we’re not there to protect it.See as were going to a black market ?” Lance asked
“ Because there is a warrant out for it and the reason for that because again we are the most want people in the universe  lance we now have a combined  bounty of over two billion Gac. So i’m not risky us getting caught over a space ok man” Jay said as he was putting on his salvager helmet there were small dents in the helmet from where Fairin  had tried to crush his head back on phobos
“I’m guess that’s why you were wearing your salvaging gear before the meeting “adam said Jay turned to look at Adam and gave him a thumbs up. Adam
The team was boarding the Atlaen pod when the sound of Hooves running across the metal floors Everyone turned to See Usamu running towards them with a bag on his back
“Wait for me “ Usamu said as he ran up to Jay looking ready to go “ I heard you were going to a traders moon and i want to tag along “ the young boy said with a smile on his face
“ Ok then little buddy know. But does Bastion know that your here or did you just ghost your brother ?“ JAy asked
“ no when i heard you were going i just grabbed my bags and ran down here as fast as possible. Usamu said with a look of realization followed by two more sets of footsteps running behind him. As Fitz and Bastion ran in both panting
“ they know now “ Usamu said with a awkward smile on his face
jay Shrugged not caring “ Ok now where we’re going is dangerous and i need all three of you if all three of you are coming along. I need you to stay close to me ok” Jay said taking his helmet off to show off the sirius look on his face .Bastion Grabbed Usamu and pulled them close and was talking to him. Jay looked over to Fitz Are you Coming along Bud?” Jay asked
“ ok” Fitz said as he shrugged and walked into the pod
“ Are you two coming or not ?” Jay asked Both Boys
The two Boys looked up at him
“ Sure “ Said Bastion
“ i was coming no matter what “ Usamu Said  as he followed his brothers
Jay felt some one starring at him then he turned to look at Coran who was Staring at him for bring kids to A black market. Jay just strugger again and Said “ I will be with then the whole time so don’t worry Coran and i have this “ then Jay showed of his Bayard in it’s holster. Then he walked into the Atlaen pod.
Coran shake his head but didn’t what want to push it. then Sat down in the plot seat and then the Pod took off  and flow towards the swap moon.
“ So what do you think will see  when we get there?” Hunk Asked
“ I don’t know but i’m ready for anything “ Keith said
“ Hey Jay “ Pidge said
“ Yes pigeon “ Jay said as he looked up from the book he was reading
“ Why did you bring the Boys along?” She asked
“ Yeah it does seems pretty irresponsible of you to bring them to a black market “ Hunk add
Jay Closed his book and looked at them all “ Does anyone remember that Coran is  and was a sleep for over ten thousand years right”
“ Right “Keith said confused he looked toward the others. Then to Adam who was listening to Usamu talk about something not paying Attention to what was going on.
“ What do that matter “ Pidge counterd
“ Well when i first heard of a Traders moon from Allura and Coran when i got back from new haven i need to know if they were still around so i asked   Matt and the others to see what was different from what coran had told me and it turns out that swap moons are just moo size Swap Hall or what you guys call Mells ”
“ Mells do you mean Malls?”
“ That’s its Thank you Adam. See were just going shopping and i mean how much trouble can we get into at a mall” Jay said with a smile on his face
elsewhere Shiro was walking towards the hanger to the black lion and stopped and took a deep breath and walked into the hanger and saw the black lion standing there intimating to look at and the moment he walked into the room the black lion lowered its head and opened its mouth to let him in. Shiro walked into the lion’s mouth  and into the cockpit and sat down in the pilot’s seat “ ok Bud how do i make are bond stronger?” Shiro asked  and as he did the black lion started to move on it’s own and it took off into space “ Woah hey stop” Shiro yelled as he tried to stop the black lion to no avail so he just let the black lion fly off into the great unknown
back in the Traders moon  Coran and the Other were stand in the entries of the Trader moon’s main aera
“ So this is a traders moon one of the most dangerous places in the universe “ Lance said sarcastically as he looked at the clean beautiful mall plaza
“ Well i feel like i over prepared for this” Jay said as he removed his helmet fix the bun on the back of his head.
“ don’t let the looks fool you this place is a place of scum in villain “ Coran said before leaving the other Paladin as he went off to look for the Skulltire plates
“ So All in of losing these costume all i favor say i” Lance said
“ I” Everyone said
in the sectury room A fat  Galra was running on his elliptical
“ I have been giving an the most important job in the universe and i Varkon will defend this Trader moon from all threat and make my Empire proud “ Varkon said as he was run then He looked at the security screens and something caught his eyes. He got off his elliptical and walked over to the screen and watched as Hunk, Keith, Pidge ,Lance and Adam throwing Away their costume ‘ Space pirate trying to disguise themselves as normal civilians. But you won’t fool me Varkon chief of Security”
BAck with the other
“So we meet up back here in an Hour i guess “ Jay Said as he was place his sons costume in to his back
“ Or when ever coran Find those disk” adam said
“ Should someone go after him Just to make sure he dose get in trouble” Hunk said
“ 3-2-1  Not it “ hunk, Lance, Keith, Pidge and Adam said
“ Not i. darn it Come boys lets help Coran not get arrested “ JAy said and started walking Away. But then He turned Around put his hand in his pocket pulled out his wallet and Hand Adam a card “ this Card As Over two hundred thousand gac on it also when a Gain is born they will rapidly grow up  and will stop about three weeks after there born so they will as smart and the size of a three to four year old so buy a lot of clothes and make sure it’s unisex just to be on the safe side and the code is 2207 .”
“ Thanks man” Adam said as he
“ Your welcome Now boys lets go” Jay said as he followed coran with the boys in toe
“ Ok Keith can you come with me and help me find a clothing Store “ Adam asked as he started to walk away
“ Alright “ Keith said Following behind his brother in law
“Alright i’m Going to look for a gift for Shay and then  the food court See yea “ Hunk said as he went on his Leaving Pidge and Lance Alone together
“ So what do you want to do Pidge ?” Lance asked
“ Don’t know want to just walk around until Coran or someone gets into trouble “ Pigde asked
Back on the black lion
Shiro was just sitting there letting the black lion fly he didn’t where he was going how long they were flying.  He couldn’t control it and he couldn’t contact the others. He was just stuck there not know what was going on until he noticed that the darkness of space started turning a dark red which Shiro found weird“ Where the hell are you taking me black “ Shiro said to himself as the black lion stop in front of a destroyed planet. Shiro was confused even more “ So Where are we now “ shiro asked and as he asked everything turned a blinding  white and when he opened his eye he saw the planet no longer destroy. But as he stared at the planet he notice two objects flying towards the planet. The Another Flash went off and Shiro saw the two objects and he realized that the two object were massive meteorites . He also saw hundreds of small ships flying towards the two meteorites. Followed by another flash and shiro found himself inside of a building Where both meteorites were being examined by alteans, galra, Olkiar and other races . he looked around the area as saw the blueprints of the lions then another flash went off and Shiro was now looking at a completed Black lion
“ So this is your origin then “ Shiro said to the black lion
“ Yes it is my Paladin “ A voice said from behind Shiro
Shiro quickly turned around  in his sat to look behind him and Saw no one and turned back with to what he was looking at and saw that he was no longer in the Altean hanger and Found himself looking into space and saw a small squadron of Fighter shooting at the Black lion. As the Black was being shot at A part of wings Appeared on the back of it and It changer straight at the enemy ship and seemly fased right throw then getting behind the enemy ships. the Black lions quickly turned Around and opened fire on the Enemy ship’s engines. Shiro wonder how he was going to get that Ability and as he wonder this Another flash appeared and shiro found himself no longer in the black lion’s Cockpit e found himself back in the purple plane with the black lion just standing there not doing anything.
“ What did i just see, why am i back here. How do it help Strength are bond please tell me what all that was supposed to tel me ?” Shiro asked to the black lion
“ It was supposed to tell you my Origin Shiro just like you said early ” The same voice as before said behind Shiro again .Shiro quickly turned Around to See a Towering figure in armor that Matched what Voltron looked like when the lions  combined it had a helmet in the shape of a lion that covered it’s face it looked down on shiro with a neutral look on it’s eyes.
Shiro felt a little intimidated by the huge figure in front of him. “ My i Ask a question then?” Shiro said
“ Ok then Ask anything you want My paladin “ The figure said
“ Why is Zarkon still connected to black. How come keith can pilot the black lion. how do i strengthen are bond. “ Shiro asked
“ Keith has a fire in him i haven’t felt sense Zarkon or you it just needs time to grow. second My bond with Zarkon is broken he is just forcing the old one to linger much longer then it should. “ the figure said
“ How do we break that bond then ?” Shiro asked
“ That is easy prove your self to Black “ the figure said
Shiro was taken  aback by this “ i thought i proved myself  to black already?” Shiro asked
“ There is a difference between black letting you pilot him and proving yourself to him” the Figure said as the figure walked over to the black lion ”
“ Ok then how do i do that “ Shiro asked
“ you will find out soon enough” The figure said before disappearing
“ Wait what does that mean ?” Shiro asked and his question was quick answered when Zarkon appeared in front of him
“ So boy you finally come to challenge me here i am impressed by your brave boy” ZArkon said as he readied himself to fight “
“ Alright Black time to prove my worth.” Shiro said as he activied his Arm as both he and Zarkon charged at each other. Shiro and Zarkon clashed
“you Are strong boy “ Zarkon said as he kicked Shiro in the stomach sending Shiro flying backwards Shiro quickly got to his feet and Ran at Zarkon and throw severely punches which zarkon quickly blocked with his massive forearms “ and you are quit peresetain as well i commend you on that “ Zarkon said as he jumped back and Shoulder bashed Shiro in the Chest sending Shiro Flying Again.Shiro hit the Ground and rolled on the ground for a bit before Zarkon Changed at him kick him in the stomach Again “ But you are not strong enough to fight me “ ZArkon said as he grabbed “So just give up i don’t wish to kill such a great warrior ”
“ No i won’t give up as long as i has something to fight for i will never surrender to the likes of you so you better just kill me now “ Shiro said defiantly
“Well then you die with Honor Boy” Zarkon said As he raised his other hand about to punch  a hole into Shiro when he was sent flying himself from behind  by the black lion. Zarkon hit the ground and looked up to see the black lion Stand there next to Shiro” NOOOO!!!! “ Zarkon Yelled as he got back to hiss feet and charge at Shiro only to be fired upon by the black lion’s mouth beam . Zarkons eye snapped open and he was back in his throne room “NO Noooo NOOOOOOOOOO” zarkon yelled as he no longer could connect to the black lion
Shiro on the other hand was still in the Astar plane getting back to his feet and turned to look at the black lion “ So have i proven myself to you?’ Shiro asked The black lion let out a soft growling sound of approval. “Ok them now how do we get back to the castle” shiro ask  and as he did Another flash went of and shiro found himself back in the hanger of the black lion “ So we never left uh that was new” Shiro said
a Few minutes later after running thought what he had just seen Shiro decide to talk to Allura about this. As he made his way out of the black lions he heard a voice in the back of his head
“ My NAme is Leonidas the prideful and the being who live in of Voltron  you have earned that much Takashi Shirogane. “ Leonidas said before disappeared again
Shiro smile as he heard this and continued to walk to the bridge and when he arrived the bridge he found that everyone there and a cow.  “Hey everyone is that a cow?” Shiro Asked confused
“ Her name is Kaltenecker “ lance said with a smile
“ Ok i will asked about what happened there but right now i need to Tell you all that i” Shiro was cut off When a message appeared on the screen Followed by a video that played
The video showed a Women in rebel gear Bleeding from a gash in Her shoulder “ To Any rebel who Can hear this my Name Is Able whitehorn i am stationed at listening outpost  on Eve-on 3.Original we thought it was just a normal sandstorm. “ The Sounds of Gun and blaster fire could be heard outside” But then we lost contact with the other two out post here. “ the Sound of screaming came next “ But then something got in to the base it started killing and eating my squad then more of them started to appear” The sound of the door been banged on “ Shit to any one who could hear” She was cut off be a huge spiked vine that pierced her stomach.the vine pulled out Albe fell lifeless to the floor to show a hole in the door. The paladins watched as the door started to be ripped open and a huge man in Galra armor walked in his face was covered by a huge flower. the figure then began to smash the console causing the video to freeze on the picture of the huge looking right at the paladins with a twisted smile on his face

Ocean - March Klance Prompts from MonthlyKlance - Day 19
Yes, it's April, no I don't care :)
This fic brought to you by Seagram's extra dry Gin…enjoy responsibly...the typos took longer than usual to edit out, perhaps drinking and writing aren’t the best combo
  Day 19 - Ocean
It didn't happen in slow motion.  He didn't get a time-lapsed forever to weigh his options and make his decision.  It was not like the movies at all, but even now as his air and time were running out, he would not have made a different choice.  Even now he knew that split-second decision had been the right one.
  Three Varga ago…
The plan was solid.  They would infiltrate the Galra cruiser when it was docked at the fueling station on Alien Waterworld.  Lance did not remember the name it had way too many consonants in it to pronounce properly and besides it was totally alien Waterworld, covered nearly entirely in ocean.  The fueling station was a tower that soared up out of the water into the pink sky.  The water was somewhat surprisingly blue, and Lance really appreciated its resemblance to Earth water.
Pidge explained that the tower was converted electrochemical energy produced in the alien ocean to fuel.  It was not ecofriendly, and they were slowly killing the planets ecosystem with the three fueling stations towers.  She had suggested that once they completed the mission with the cruiser data retrieval that the castle blast the other two towers as well.
The towers were manned primarily by droids according to intel and scans.  The team would use Green and her cloak to get into the tower and then sneak aboard the cruiser as it was docked.  Then Lance, Keith, and Hunk would place a series of detonators in key spots around the ship while Pidge and Shiro hacked the mainframe and copied the prisoner records and troop movement information they needed.   When they had the information they needed, they would take a pod and drop down to the ocean where Green waited and Pidge would set off the detonators.  Easy peasy lemon squeezy.  And Shio had rolled his eyes when Lance said it, but it was, it was supposed to be.
Another brilliant plan ruined by stupidity - Galra stupidity.  One of the detonator's was discovered, one on the starboard engine.  The brilliant detective decided to mess with the bomb and set it off blowing himself and the engine to bits.  Lance is sure that's what happened, because Keith apparently saw the bomb go off as he was trying to stop the idiot from setting it off.
Now, Lance thinks, maybe being next to the bomb going off wasn't Keith's best plan and that they definitely need to get that boy a long-range weapon of some kind.  At this point Lance thinks a sling and some rocks would be better than nothing.
  "Shit!"
"Keith, are you okay?"  Shiro yells in the com.
"Yeah, yeah, mostly."  Keith's breathy voice almost echoes.  "Blast busted my helmet.  The visor is cracked.  Stupid patrol set off the bomb.  I think we're going down."
"No kidding, did the free fall clue you in?"  Lance snarked as he clung to the wall in the hall he was in, not far from Keith.
"Everyone to the pod now, we need to get off of here before we hit the water."  Shiro ordered.
Keith was the furthest away and had to make a detour around damaged sections of the ship as doors were sealed in attempt to keep the thing in the air.  It wasn't working, but it was causing Keith a lot of issues.  Lance wasn't having much more luck as he wasn't much ahead of Keith.  About two dobashes after the ordered retreat they found themselves in the same hall.
  "Pidge?  Help?"  Lance asked.
"I'm in the pod with Shiro.  I can pull up a map."  Pidge's typing could be heard over the com.
"I'm almost there.  I see the pods."  Hunk yelled.
"Shit, we have three dobashes to waterfall."  Pidge yelled frantic.
"Go then!"  Keith yelled as he and Lance moved faster, still not sure how to get to where they needed to be.
"Don't wait for us."  Lance echoed.
"We can give you one more dobash."  Pidge snarled.
"Won't make it.  Get Hunk and go."  Lance panted.
  "Hunk's on board."  Shiro stated.
  "Go Shiro!"  Keith yelled.
  "Pidge, launch."  Shiro ordered.
  "No, we can give them…"
"They aren't going to make it in time.  Keith, Lance - You are too far out to get to the pods.  Find a secure location and brace for impact.  We will give you the count."  Shiro commanded, sounding sure that they would be okay.
"Fuck."  Pidge cursed as she pressed the button to launch the pod.  "You have 2.5 dobashes."
"On it."  Keith answered, though his voice was weak.
Lance could see the blackened marks on the red paladin armor and the shattered visor and cracked helmet revealed bleeding cuts on Keith's face.
"Here?"  Lance nodded to a small room to the left of the hall.  It looked like a dorm room, complete with desk and bed.
  "Yeah."  Keith agreed.
The bed seemed to be bolted into the wall.  They both crawled under it and braced themselves.
"This sucks."  Keith growled.  His breathing seemed shallow and Lance worried that there was more wrong with him than he had told.
"Yeah, I've heard of hiding under the bed from a monster or a tornado or maybe a fire, but not a shipwreck and the others never work out either."
  "Lance, you're babbling."
"I'm not babbling, I am pretending not to be freaking out about our imminent deaths by talking about random things to distract myself.  Where you aware that cows have four stomachs?"  Lance knew he was babbling, he didn't care.
  "No."
"They do, it's so they can digest grass and stuff, which humans can't because of just the one stomach.  I had to have my stomach pumped when I was six and drank an entire bottle of tequila that I found in the kitchen cabinet."
  "Really."
Lance wasn't entirely sure that Keith was paying attention, but he did seem to be humoring him, "Yeah, I got a popsicle and a night in the hospital.  Hospitals aren't so bad when the nurses are nice.  I went out with a nurse once when I was at the Garrison.  She was like five years older than me.  I'm not sure why she said yes when I asked.  She was a good dancer.  We went to three clubs and did shots of tequila.  Then at like 3 am we went cow tipping."
"Are all your stories about cows and tequila?"
"Important hallmarks for my childhood."  Lance snarked, though his voice shook slightly.
"One dobash, are you guys safe."  Shiro asked over the com.
"We found a good spot.  Riding this thing in."  Lance came back trying to sound confident.
"Okay.  Hold tight.  Get to an outer area of the ship as soon as possible and we will get you out if we have to make a door."  Shiro responded.
Something about their leader's voice seemed to fill him with a sense of safe.  Shiro wouldn't let anything happen to them.
"Okay, Shiro, be careful yourselves."  Keith responded.  He was well aware that Shiro would throw himself into fire if he thought it would save his team.
Pidge's voice shaking came over the com, "Ten, nine, I love you guys, five, four, three, two, one."
At one the world shook.  The sound was like a thousand trains running into a thousand cliffs and blowing up.  The paladins were bounced hard against the bed and back down to the floor several times.  Clutching desperately to the bed and each other they tried to minimize the impact and stay contained in their little corner.  They didn't realize they were both screaming at first, the sound covered by the monstrous noise of the crash.
When Lance came to, he was pressed between the wall and Keith, clutching the former like his life depended on it.  The bed had apparently come loose at some point and Keith was clutching the bed in front of them like a shield.  All in all, Lance decided he wasn't doing too bad.  He felt stiff, his back hurt and his arms and hands were so stiff he had trouble convincing his fingers to let go.
"Keith?"  Lance jostled him a little as he tried to remove his arms from around the Red Paladin.
Keith groaned and apparently let go of the bed as it went crashing to the floor.
"LANCE!" Pidge's scream left his ears ringing.
"We're here Pidgie.  I'm okay, a little stiff but no damage.  Checking on Keith now."  Lance answered.
"Quiznak don’t scare me like that again!"  She growled.
  "'m 'kay” Keith slurred.
"Yeah, not convincing, mullet."  Lance carefully climbed around so that he could see Keith's face and the rest of him.  He didn't see anything new, but that didn't mean he was okay.  Keith blinked a couple of times and then managed to focus on Lance.  "Okay, so head injury from explosion or crash?"
"Um…both?  I think my helmet's damaged or maybe my headache is just getting worse."  Keith answered squinting at Lance.
"Okay, well, definite helmet damage because the explosion blew out your visor.  Can you sit up?"  Lance reached out to steady him when Keith wobbled, but he managed to sit.  He closed his eyes and then snapped them open.
  "Dizzy."  He muttered.
"Okay, you guys get that?"  Lance asked.
"Yeah, we hear you."  Shiro answered.
"Lance, we need you guys to get out of the ship, Pidge is sending you the quickest route to an exist.  The blast left a pretty big hole and the ship is starting to sink heavily on that end."  Hunk came over the coms nervously.
"Route sent."  Pidge returned almost immediately.
"Okay, Keith, we gotta go."  Lance helped him up.  The fact that he didn't say a word and just did as Lance asked kind of freaked him out a little.  "Moving."
"We read you.  I'm monitoring your progress."  Pidge offered.
"Okay."  Lance was nearly carrying Keith by the time they got to the second hallway.  He wasn't sure if it was the head wound or something else, but he was worried.
"Guys!  You need to hurry!"  Hunk's panic bled through the com.  "The ship is breaking up."
"What?!"  Lance leaned down and managed to lift Keith up over a shoulder.  "Quiznak you are heavier than you look!"
  "Lance?"  Worry colored Shiro's voice.
"Keith's too slow, I'm going to try to move us faster."  Lance panted managing to move to a jog.  Keith growled from his back but broke off into a whimper.  Lance tried to move faster.
The sounds the ship had been making were getting louder.  The rocking from the waves made on impact had accompanied groans and creaks, but now there were louder metallic noises that filled Lance with a kind of dread.
"LANCE!"  Hunk called out just as the floor in front of him split open with a shriek.
Lance may have joined the floor in shrieking as he scrambled backwards.  The ship in front of him split and tilted forward, falling away and forward.  He scrambled as the ship rocked hard sliding them back and forth across the hall.  Lance clung to Keith.
  "LANCE?!"  Hunk cried.
"Ow!  Quiznak!"  Lance slammed hard into the wall and the two section of the ship separated.  The far section moved farther away bobbing like a cork in the ocean.  While the section they were in shifted and started tilting forward, trying to drop them into the ocean below.
"No, no, no."  Lance tried to push them back away from the edge, Keith was clinging weakly to him and despite his efforts they were sliding forward.
  "Lance?!"  Hunk yelled again.
"Falling, falling, shit."  Lance's outstretched arm managed to grab the corner of a door, but the jolting stop caused Keith to slide out of his arm and he was now clinging to his legs.  "Stopped," he grunted.
"Lance, where are you?"  Shiro called.
Lance couldn't focus enough to answer, his arm burned, and Keith was slipping.  He saw another hand hold further down and letting his one go, he managed to get a grip on Keith again and grab the next door.  This time expected the jolt he was able to brace himself and keep his grip on Keith.  Keith groaned.
"Hanging on."  Lance muttered.  The water was rising.  They were about thirty feet above it.  Their part of the ship was continuing to tilt, and Lance wondered if it would go completely upright and if he could hold on if it did.
"We are coming to you."  Pidge gritted out.  "We've made it to Green."
The ship jolted and it was as though an entire level disappeared into the deep blue ocean.  The ship shuddered and shook, and Lance found his grip loosened again and they were sliding and Keith was sliding faster.  Lance gave up all pretense of trying to stop their fall and desperately grabbed for Keith.
They were almost to the edge and Lance almost had him.  He saw Keith reach out his hand and Lance reached out his.  They were less than an inch apart when Lance's armor hung up on debris from the hall and he was jerked to a stop and Keith slid off the edge and out of site.
"NOOOO!"  Lance jerked himself free of the debris and slid to the edge.  Keith was just visible sinking into the water almost thirty feet down.
"LANCE?!"  This time it was Shiro that yelled.
"Lance, Keith isn't showing up on the scan!"  Pidge shrieked.
"Water must block the scan, Pidge, you'll have to fix that."  Lance spoke calmly and stepped off the edge.  He crossed his arms over his chest and kept his legs tightly together trying to aim himself after Keith.  That was the moment.  No slow motion, no questions about their fate, no thoughts other than "go".
  "What?  Lance?  Water?" Hunk sputtered.
It hurt hitting the water that fast, but he his armor protected him.  He searched for Keith and spotting him began swimming for all he was worth.  Keith was sinking further into darkness.  His eyes closed and face slack.
"nonnonnononnonononononono…" Lance didn't even realize he was talking until another voice answered.
"Lance.  What's going on?  Talk to us, buddy."
"nonononononononnonononnonononononono…."  Lance finally reached Keith hands grasping his armor and pulling his body to him.  As he did the water around him darkened like night falling.
"Lance, the ship!"  Hunk yelled.  "Please!"
Lance looked up to find the ship and tilted on over and was now coming his way at an unfortunate speed.  He grabbed Keith and began trying to swim away, but the water displaced from the ship was pulling them back.  He had to get Keith air, he had to get him out of the water.
"nonononononono.." Lance panted breathlessly.  The ship was getting closer.  Soon Lance was swimming up into the ship, dodging between halls.  He realized about two ticks later that the ship had stopped moving.  He just needed to find some air.
  "Need air."  He growled.
"Air?  There are pockets in the ship, try to reach one.  I don't know where you are because you are in the water."  Pidge fretted.
"Keith?" Shiro uttered his name like a prayer.
"Needs air."  Lance gritted out.  He broke the surface of the water in a hallway.  Up and to the right was a doorway.  Lance managed to pull Keith up with him and hauled him out of the water.  Later he would wonder how he managed it, but at the time it was just what needed to happen.
He pulled Keith's helmet off and his hair spread around wet and dark behind him.  His face pale and unmoving.  A sound came out of Lance like a wounded animal before his lifeguard training kicked in and he began CPR.
"Breathe damnit!"  Lance hissed as he felt Keith's ribs crack under the pressure.  "Breathe, you stupid mullet!"  Lance wailed.  "BREATHE, PLEASE KEITH!"
And then he was sputtering and spitting out water, his body jerking and moving, and Lance rolled him to his side sobbing in relief.
  "Lance?"  Shiro begged.
"Breathing, he's breathing."  Lance choked out.
"Thank you."  Shiro whispered, Lance wasn't sure if he was talking to him or Keith, but it didn't matter at least the idiot was breathing.

Shance – Soulmates
Mermaids, werewolves, vampires. Magical beings that exist in this world, together with humans. We can’t really say that they live in peace with one another, but they tolerate one another. Each one with a role to play in society.
Lance was a mermaid, with his skin-kissed by the sun, white hair and his mermaid mark on his body. He was seated on a rock on the beach, just gazing at the stars, singing, when he heard something behind him. Surprised he snapped his head to where he heard the sound. A big wolf appeared before him. Dark fur, gray eyes, that shined like melted silver, scars all over his body. Lance froze on the spot. A werewolf. It was weird seeing one on the mermaid territory, but that just meant that he probably lived nearby.
The wolf stared at him. “Hey there.” Lance smiled. “Sorry, I didn’t know we had a werewolf in town. Then again, you’re probably new here right? You shouldn’t be so close to the ocean though. It’s not safe for you.” Lance kept his distance, he knew that werewolves and mermaids lived in harmony now, but better safe than sorry. The wolf made a bee line to him, sitting very close to him. Lance was starting to say something when the wolf collapsed on top of his legs. “What the hell?” Lance was shocked with the turn of events.
The wolf was exhausted, and in pain.
Lance ran a hand on it’s fur. Something was calling for him, he felt the connection. A connection as if his gravity was changing to that wolf, he could feel his heart beating faster. “No way...” he knew about soulmates, knew that a bond with someone that was ‘different’ than you was very rare… and complicated. “Shit.”
He found his soulmate.
~~~~ /// ~~~~
Lance had a house close to the beach, it was a small but comfortable cottage, blue walls, white windows, inside wood floor, with very comfortable furnishings. When he woke up he, once more was shocked, but he managed to calm himself when he remembered bringing the werewolf back to his house, to take care of him. Now he wasn’t in his wolf form, but his human one. Lance got out of the bed, covering the other with his blanket (since he was naked) and went to his bathroom. Mermaids can walk on land just fine, but there’s a moment their bodies just scream for water. Lance was a healer, he used most of his power on the werewolf, he needed to rest before continuing the process of healing.
He stayed on the bathtub for almost an hour, when he felt better he got out, drying his body, using his magic for his legs, using his creams for his face and went to the bedroom, towel wrapped around his waist. He looked for the stranger to see how he was and met those gray eyes, looking at him.
“Where am I?” His voice was hoarse and Lance could feel the anxiety behind it.
“This is my home. You appeared yesterday on the beach… in your wolf form...” If Lance felt that the wolf was beautiful, the man in front of him now was something else entirely. A work of the gods. He was muscular, with the same gray eyes form before (sometimes the eyes of the werewolf changes), black hair, and scars all over his body, but was in his human form that Lance noted the scar on the bridge of his nose.
“I don’t remember that.”
Yes, yes you don’t- wait, what?
“What you mean by that? Werewolves don’t lose their memories when they transform… at least not that I know of...”
“What are you?”
“...” oh boy, here we go. “I’m a mermaid.”
Lance could see the other boy tensing the moment he finished talking. “A mermaid?”
“Yes.”
“Why did you bring me here?” And there you have it. The different races live in “harmony” but all of them have some prejudice against the other. For mermaids, people used to talk and think that their seduced others with their voices, they had a high libido after all. Lance was tired of everyone thinking he could be a slut of some kind. He was a healer for gods sake! All the mermaids he knew were nothing like that!
The air went cold. “I didn’t call you here.” Lance clenched his fists. “You came out of nowhere. You collapsed on top of me. But you don’t have to worry, now that you’re awake, you can get dressed and get out of my house. Next time I see a stupid werewolf too close to the ocean, I’m gonna say “good!” and let the ocean devour the stupid beast.” This was his soulmate? This ridicule being, full of prejudice? Oh no, Lance would not have that. He went to his closet, picked the biggest clothes he could find and trow them at the strangers direction, hitting him on the face. “This mermaid won’t accept prejudice inside of his own home. So get changed and get out.” Lance took some clothes for himself and went to the door so he could leave that room, looking back he snarled “Go take care of your wounds somewhere else too.” And with that he closed the door, not failing in notice the panic face the other had at the moment and how he had tried to speak.
~~~////~~~
Lance had changed his clothes, comforting sweatpants, a crop top that could be a bit too big for him and was now seated at his couch. Mind still fuming with anger. When he saw the wolf, he had felt something, something extraordinary, he could feel in his gut, that the wolf was his soulmate. He even imagined how things would be! But as always, things didn’t work in a good way for him. A healer, cursed to never be loved. His anger started to change to anguish. He did his best. He was the best healer from his territory, he studied hard, practiced hard, he had confidence in that. The problem was always his love life. He was different than the others. He was a romantic, he wished he could get to know his soulmate before anything. Know what he liked, what he disliked, his hobbies, what they had in common, let the chemistry between them flow, not because they were bonded, but because they fell in love with each other. True love.
God, he looked like the little mermaid. The other mermaids mocked him a lot because of that. But Lance wanted that or wanted nothing at all.
And now there he was, with his soulmate, just to find out that he was a prejudiced son of a bitch.
He heard the door of his room opening, he took long breathes before looking at the other man that was now standing a few feet away.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t think before saying that and I hurt your feelings. That wasn’t my intention.” The man before him was calm, the anxiety from before, gone. Lance wanted to be mad, he really wanted, he just couldn’t. He relaxed. “It’s fine. You’re not the first to think like that. It doesn’t matter. Just sit here, please? So I can take a better look at your wounds.” Lance patted the couch, the man moved just like a puppy when he had just been forgiven for something wrong he did.
The man had a nasty cut on his forearm and on his thigh, Lance held his hands around his forearm first, closing his eyes, he said a few words and his body marks started glowing in a soft blue tone, the glow moved to his hands, involving the other’s arm.
“You… You’re a healer...” The man said in awe.
“And what gave you that idea?” Lance scoffed. “It will heal. I can try to do something about your scars as well… if you want.”
“No.” Lance opened his eyes, the man was very serious. “They’re a part of me. I passed through a lot of shit and I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to forget it, but they’re a sign that I survived.”
Lance stared at the man. Maybe he wasn’t as bad as he thought at first.
“If you really think that, then you’re really strong.” Lance gave him a small smile. “You’re the most brave person I got to know.” And I’m definitely not good for you.
“I’m Takashi Shirogane. You can call me Shiro.” Shiro gave him the most beautiful smile, making Lance feel butterflies in his stomach. “What about you healer?”
“I’m Lance… Just… Lance.” Lance averted his eyes, he didn’t want to get his hope up.
“Lance…” Shiro said testing his name. “Thank you.”
Don’t trust anyone.
Don’t trust him.
You’re not fit to be bonded.
You’re not fit to be loved.
Just continue your life as it always been.
Until your body becomes ashes.
Until he is happy with someone else.
The truth behind soulmates, was known only by the mermaids.
Werewolves, vampires, humans, they didn’t believe that, they didn’t feel that. Shiro was right in front of him, completely fine, while Lance was trying his best to ignore the pain he was feeling, trying to catch his breath, to sooth the pain in his heart and the heavy cold in his stomach. Shiro was fine letting Lance touch him because he couldn’t feel anything.
And all Lance wanted, was to never see him again.
After Lance healed his leg as well, Shiro got up.
“Thank you for this. And I’m sorry for what I said earlier.”
“I told you it didn’t mattered.”
“But it does. You saved me. And instead of thanking you, I accused you.”
They just stared at each other, till Lance couldn’t take anymore and averted his eyes.
Shiro scratched behind his neck.
“I should go… it was nice meeting you Lance.”
Shiro went towards the door. “I hope we meet again.”
And with that, he left.
Leaving Lance alone.
“I hope I never meet you again.”
