When discussing Batfam relationships, there's a tendency to focus on out-of-context 'events'. For example, when discussing Tim and Dick, many people bring up the 'giving away Robin' event without talking about their reconciliation immediately after or their lengthy history of love and brotherhood. Same goes for Tim and Damian; they are almost entirely defined by the early events of their relationship (namely the dinosaur murder attempt and the line-cutting), rather than their more amicable interactions later on, or their nuanced and complicated feelings for each other.
This is possibly why people want Cass and Jason to get along - there's no 'event' to make them dislike each other, so people don't think too hard about whether they would actually be good companions. On the flip side, many people use Batgirl (2008) to say Cass and Dick don't get along, without discussing their reconciliation in Batman and the Outsiders + evidence of their camaraderie elsewhere. (Also ignoring that 2008 is deliberately OOC for Dick).
This is completely understandable. Events are often glossed over in canon, so some of this behaviour stems from desiring a bigger unpacking of certain moments. Also, nobody has read every comic in existence, and of course you'd base your dynamics on what you have read.
However, I think it's important to remember that events don't exist in isolation, and relationships are defined not only by events but by how people interpret and learn from them. Singular events rarely define entire relationships. Personalities, belief systems, and relationships to others affect how events are viewed (case in point: to Tim, the line-cutting is more of an excuse to beat Damian into the ground, rather than a threat to his life. Damian is way more affected by the hit list than Tim is by the line-cutting).
Events definitely have a place in relationships, and I make headcanons based on singular events all the time. But including context, consequences, personalities, and perspectives into discussions makes for richer and more meaningful interpretations.

Adjusted for inflation, this click wheel 20 GB iPod with a black and white screen would run you about $538 in today's money.

Cherik and Beastique Parallels
I’ve noticed a few remarkable parallels between these two pairings in several of the films, in which the filmmaking deliberately constructs each pair’s shared scenes to echo each other, and thus showing the viewer that Cherik are lovers just as Beastique are.
THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY
Erik is imprisoned by the government in X1 and X2, and Charles acknowledges him and thinks about him often, but knows he can’t do anything to get Erik released. Raven is imprisoned by the government in X3 and Hank acknowledges her upon seeing footage of her during the conference, but knows he can’t do anything to get her released.
Charles and Hank have very similar moments where they look solemnly and silently upon their respective love interests in prison.
Erik tells Charles that the plastic prison won’t hold him forever. Hank expresses doubt that any prison could contain Raven.
FIRST CLASS
Charles & Erik’s very first moment of bonding is the realization that they’re “not alone,” while Hank & Raven’s very first moment of bonding is the realization that they both have physical mutations which make them feel insecure. Both pairs immediately connect as kindred spirits because of their mutations.
When they first try out Cerebro, Raven gushing over the fact that Hank built all this is immediately followed by Erik’s “What an adorable lab rat you make, Charles.”
The editing of the film places each couple’s most pivotal conversation back to back. Hank & Raven’s disagreement about the cure is immediately followed by Charles & Erik’s disagreement about how to deal with the humans.
Both disagreement scenes take place in a cozy room by a fireplace, a very intimate setting.
Both disagreement scenes are moments where a rift forms between the two couples, as they each have different ideas on how to move forward as mutants in a human-dominated world. The back-to-back editing invites us to recognize Cherik as romance-coded, and to acknowledge that both pairs of lovers are simultaneously drifting apart.
At the end, Erik abandons Charles and Raven abandons Hank. One half of each couple join the Brotherhood and go rogue; the other half remain behind in the mansion, lonely and pining for their lost love.
DAYS OF FUTURE PAST (THE ROGUE CUT)
Although a full decade has passed, both couples are shown to not be over each other, and to still remember, in vivid detail, moments that they shared 10 years ago. Charles & Erik talk about Erik’s abandonment and the paralysis accident. Hank & Raven talk about the last things they said to each other before she left him.
Erik criticizes Charles for getting rid of his powers with the serum. Raven criticizes Hank for hiding his true appearance with the serum.
Charles & Erik have an intimate conversation on the plane and reconnect in the same setting in which they disagreed 10 years ago: during a chess game. Hank & Raven have an intimate conversation in the mansion reconnect in the same setting in which they disagreed 10 years ago: in front of the fireplace.
On the plane, Charles & Erik’s conversation briefly touches upon Raven, as Erik tells Charles how Raven has been doing. By the fireplace, Hank & Raven’s conversation briefly touches upon Charles, as Hank tells Raven how Charles has been doing.
Both conversations also touch upon the topics on which they disagreed 10 years prior, albeit in a much calmer and more mature tone. Charles & Erik discuss how their plan to stop Raven relates to their beliefs about mutants’ relations with humans, and Charles acknowledges that Erik might’ve indeed been right in saying humans would come after them. Hank & Raven discuss their fears of whether the world will deem them beautiful, and Hank acknowledges that Raven’s natural form is indeed beautiful.
Hank & Raven act on their resurfacing feelings, passionately kissing and embracing during their talk. Though Charles & Erik do not kiss onscreen, the chemistry and intimacy of their conversation hint that something may have happened offscreen (a door to a private room is visible in the back of the plane).
After these conversations, Erik and Raven betray their respective lovers again, as Erik goes off on his own again and Raven destroys Cerebro before leaving the mansion behind.
Erik and Hank each take action to protect their respective lovers from a gun. Erik refuses to kill Charles when Charles shields Raven from Erik’s gun, and then Hank tackles Erik to save Raven from being killed by that same gun.
Both pairs of lovers share a meaningful look in the aftermath of the D.C. confrontation, before Erik leaves Charles behind once more and Raven leaves Hank behind once more.
Charles and Hank are seen when Logan wakes up in the happier future, while Erik and Raven are not. But there is enough ambiguity to keep alive the possibility that the couples may have worked things out after all in the new timeline, and Logan just doesn’t see it in that particular moment.
