I watch horror movies on the basis of whether I want to be in a different mental state for like three weeks after watching them or: “Hehe, swamp monster looks stupid and Vincent Price is here. Perfect.” No in between. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not here to rawdog mental pain in the name of horror. Like I’m not watching “The Hills Have Eyes” or even “The Witchfinder General” but give me someone in the most party city ass looking monster suit and/or the most insane mind-fuck of a movie possible and I’ll be sat.

(Also, no offense to people who like those movies, I just feel like violence against women is a prevalent enough problem without horror commodifying it, especially violence against black women but that’s a horror hot take for a different day)
