BREAD PAKODA
Delicious, crispy, deep fried and all scoffed in minutes this Bread Pakoda is a a street food favourite and so good served with fresh tangy chutneys or some fried green chilles on the side. It is used to be my guilty pleasure and one that I still indulge in. The spicy potato mix encased with a crispy coating of the gram flour. Every bite of crisp batter, soft bread and spicy mashed potato served with a warm cup of tea was and still is a pure pleasure.
The potato mix is easy to make, though the potato is best crushed by hand as you want a slightly lumpy mix rather than smooth mashed potato base. You can even serve the potato mix with some puris and kadhi if you have any extra leftover.
Method
To make the potato mix: heat oil in a heavy bottom sauce pan. Add mustard seeds. As the splutter add the curry leaves and green chillies. Fry for a minute on medium heat and add the chopped ginger. Fry for a further minute.
Add turmeric powder, stir and add the potatoes along with the green peas. Stir to make sure the mix is evenly coloured. Cover and steam on a low heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Garnish with coriander, add lemon juice and season to taste. Let the mix cool while you make the gram flour batter.
In a large mixing bowl add the gram flour along with the powdered spices and salt. Add water and whisk well to make a smooth batter.
Place the sliced bread on a plate and the spiced potato mix. Flatten the potato mix with the back of the spoon. Place another slice over it to make a sandwich. Cut the sandwich diagonally. Repeat for the rest of the potato mix.
Heat oil on a large pan for deep frying. Dip the potato sandwich in the gram flour batter mix and deep fry until it is light brown and crisp all over around 1 to 2 minutes each side. Drain on kitchen paper. Cut the pakoda into smaller pieces and serve warm with a chutney.

take my hand sneak peek: chapter 14
Anthony had always been a fairly light sleeper. Even his phone dinging in the middle of the night was enough to wake him. He’d had to instill in his siblings the two call rule: if they called him and it went straight to voicemail, it meant it was on do not disturb, but if they called again within two minutes, it would ring through, and if they called him past midnight, they would have to double call.
So, basically, sharing a bed with a woman entering her third trimester of pregnancy was truly testing his abilities.
Kate was becoming more and more uncomfortable, and she still had more to grow. Any concerns about the amount of weight she’d been gaining had vanished. She’d swung up practically overnight to the high side of average for how far along she was. Her back was bothering her more, unsurprisingly. Anthony suspected this was from the fact that she was back to having two jobs, and his subtle (or not) attempts at encouraging her to leave the café fell on deaf ears. The baby spent more time on her bladder, sending her to the loo at all hours.
It all meant getting a full night’s sleep—for either of them—was decidedly out of the question.
Not to mention the cravings. Good God. It had been normal things at first. Nectarines, ice cream, pakoda—though the fact that it had to be Mary’s recipe to fully satisfy her had been trying, it wasn’t weird.
They were past that, though. Tragically. The day he watched her dip a pakoda in tartar sauce, he knew it was over.
Truly, her creations were disgusting. Naan with guacamole. Sandwiches made with whatever was in their fridge, logic be damned. For dinner last night, she’d had pizza and curry like it was the most natural thing in the world. When he’d raised an eyebrow at her in question, she’d kicked him under the table.
He knew, when she poked him in the ribs at 2 in the morning, whatever she was about to ask for was going to be atrocious. And that he was going to get it for her. (Gregory had called him a “simp” the other week. He wasn’t entirely wrong.) He let out a groan as he slowly rolled towards her.
“Anthony,” she said in a little sing-song voice. “Do you want waffles?”
His eyes snapped open and he shifted fully to face her. She looked far too awake for the early hour. Her face even wore her best “butter wouldn’t melt” expression.
His eyes narrowed in suspicion. “Do you want waffles?” As if he didn’t already know the answer.
“I found your waffle maker in the pantry,” she said, as if this explained everything and didn’t raise more questions about when and why she was digging through the pantry—they’d heated up leftovers for dinner and she’d been at work all day. “Can we make some?”
“I mean, I suppose—”
She needed no further encouragement. With a smacking kiss to his cheek, she all but jumped out of bed, moving with an energy he wasn’t sure he’d seen in weeks, and made her way out to the kitchen.
Newton’s head perked up to watch her leave from his bed in the corner. (Anthony had lost the fight on moving the dog’s bed into their room. Kate could be rather convincing.) He tilted his head to the side curiously, looking up at Anthony.
“Your mum’s crazy, huh, buddy?” he said. Newton started panting, which Anthony took as agreement.

This video will show you how to boil eggs and peel the shell easily. There are many ways to boil the eggs and peel the shell, but I'll show you the simple way to do this. The method I'm using to boil the eggs is very simple and this is a common method in Indian cooking. Boiling eggs would normally take 6 to 7 minutes and they are healthy and a good source of proteins.
Boiled Eggs can be eaten as it is with just salt and pepper, also can be garnished with finely chopped onions, green chilies, and coriander leaves. Boiled Eggs are also used for Biryani recipes, curries, pakodas, and other starter recipes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ingredients
Eggs - 6 ( cleaned )
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Water as needed
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Directions
Take a bottom saucepan and add water as required.
Place the eggs carefully into the pan and turn on the stove.
Add 1/2 tsp of salt but don't mix it and there is no need to cover them.
Boil these eggs for 7 to 8 minutes on a medium flame.
After 7 to 8 minutes, switch off the flame and leave it for 5 minutes to cool down.
Remove the eggs from the saucepan and put them into a cold water bowl, The water at room temperature can also be used.
Leave them in the cold water until completely cool down.
Take an egg, tap, and roll on the countertop which will break the eggshells.
Peel the shell completely.
That’s it! This is how you cook boiled eggs.
Boiled Eggs can be eaten as it is with just salt and pepper, also can be garnished with finely chopped onions, green chilies, and coriander leaves. Boiled Eggs are also used for Biryani recipes, curries, pakodas, and other starter recipes.

How To Prepare Chana Pakora In A Clay Pot
Clay pots are popular worldwide as cooking containers. It's easy to see why because the heat retention properties of clay and their natural non-stick surface make them very convenient for cooking just about any food to perfection. We all know that using a slow cooker allows you to cook your food slowly and without much attention required, which is especially nice if you're busy or away from home during the day.
Cooking Indian foods in clay pots provides an equally impressive performance.
