Curanderismo: Mexican American Folk Healing by Robert T. Trotter II & Juan Antonio Chavira
“At least six major historical influences have shaped thebeliefs and practices of curanderismo by Mexican Americans in the Lower Rio Grande Valley: Judeo-Christian religious beliefs, symbols, and rituals; early Arabic medicine and health practices (combined with Greek humoral medicine, revived during the Spanish Renaissance); medieval and later European witchcraft; Native American herbal lore and health practices; modern beliefs about spiritualism and psychic phenomena; and scientific medicine. None of these influences dominates curanderismo, but each has had someimpact on its historical development.”

Cerebri Psyche
Amuletum Corpus Naturalis Collection
Trapped in a fecal bolus for 20 hours of despair, pain, and delirium; I received an epiphany that led me to produce this collection for the greater good. Amulets for physical and mental health. To be protected and combat the evils of physical and mental imbalance. Disorders that afflict us all, when we least expect them. Preparations based on organs and botanicals capable of combating a condition in a particular and general way. You can meditate with them visualizing them, or take them with you on your smartphone or in the background of your desktop. If they help you, let me know, if you want me to prepare a special amulet for you too. Of course you should not call me if this brought you any additional problems, surely you must be doing something wrong. The psyche is the set of human capacities of an individual that encompasses conscious and unconscious processes. Formerly, the term psyche was related to a type of energy or vital force of an individual that was united to the body in life and separated from it after her death. When the psyche is healthy, the individual has more opportunities to adapt to the environment, which is why the psyche has cognitive, affective, conditioned and unconditioned reflexes. Likewise, the psyche has defense mechanisms such as sublimation, repression, denial or isolation, among others. The brain is the governing organ. Visualize each part of this important system in your body. Oatmeal and hypericum (St. John's wort) are special botanical agents for the treatment of the psyche and its clarification. You must drink its infusion if your mind asks you to. Do not doubt your inner voice. Nothing I have written here has a scientific basis. Everything is the product of a revelation.

nadia’s shifts were long, and at this point, the ER felt just as much like home as her tiny apartment. she was exhausted, and she already knew she didn’t have the energy to cook when she got home. if she was being honest, she’d probably crash on the couch without eating at all—just like she had too many times before. so, she walked into the fast food place she’d been ordering from for years—ever since she started working at the hospital. she grabbed her number and glanced up at the screen. last one up there. great. she sighed, adjusting her bag on her shoulder before leaning back against the nearest wall. that’s when she saw him. a familiar face. she wasn’t expecting it, and, honestly, she was a little ashamed. "i didn’t know paramedics were allowed to lose shape eating fast food," she joked, crossing her arms. she didn’t know his name. didn’t know much about him at all, really. just that he worked at the fire station. @enrique-curandero

Damn my mom so worried about me she got me pouring what I can only assume is some type of spiritual remedy all over myself.
Giving me some type of herbal smelling mysterious dark liquid in a plastic bottle and telling me to add my perfume in there

Sanguinis Munditiae Oraculum
Amuletum Corpus Naturalis Collection
They say the blood never lies. It’s the ledger of our sins, both inherited and chosen. We pollute it, stretch it thin, and then wonder why it betrays us. "I’m tired," it whispers, but we refuse to listen. We ask for clarity while pouring toxins into its rivers, for balance while feeding the chaos that flows through its veins. The alchemy of purification is ancient—CEBIL (ANADENANTHERA COLUBRINA) to purge the stubborn poison, MULLEIN (VERBASCUM THAPSUS) to mend the battered pathways, and ROSEMARY (ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS) to awaken what we’ve allowed to fall asleep. Together, they form a symphony of healing for a body that has forgotten how to sing. Yet here we are, swearing by detox diets while injecting ourselves with the venom of modernity. We can cleanse our blood, sure, but what about the bitterness in our hearts? The feathers in this amulet mock us—they know flight isn’t freedom if you carry your shackles with you. This is not a promise of salvation; it’s a question: Do you have the courage to clean your blood, your spirit, your mind? Or will you keep blaming the world for the stains you refuse to scrub? It was during twenty hours of agony, delirium, and a very literal constipation of the soul that the idea for these amulets came to life. A collection meant to confront the imbalances we carry like unpaid debts—whether they haunt the body or the mind. These creations are not cures; they’re mirrors. Look too closely, and you might not like what you see. Meditate with them, carry them in your devices, or hang them like talismans for your fears. If they help, fantastic. If they don’t? Perhaps the problem isn’t the amulet, but you. Nothing I have written here has a scientific basis. Everything is the product of an epiphany.
