You know how in some cultures giving perfume as a gift is considered to bring seperation and bad luck for that relationship?

Idk how to explain this but Levi would definitely buy you an expensive perfume for your birthday. My man is clueless, okay? Until you receive the gift and of course you appriciate it. Then, by chance, he hears a random cadet talking to his friend about what he'll buy for his girlfriend. He never meant to eavesdrop but he couldn't help it, the brats were loud. So he hears the conversation between them.

"How about perfume? I'll buy her something fancy."

"Yeah do that, unless you don't actually want to bring that relationship to an end."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"DoItt you know? It brings bad luck, seperation, even. She's already outta your league don't spit on your chance!"

Now, listen. Of course, he doesn't believe something as ridiculous and superstitious. But...being the overthinker he is, he just can't stop thinking about it.

What if you misunderstood him? Thinking he wants this relationship to end. What if something happens and you end up breaking up with him? After all, superstitions become common beliefs once something happens over and over, right? Or even worse, what if the bad luck the gift has brought, makes you end up dead in an expedition? He can't risk that.

His overthinking reaches its climax once he hears something breaking from your room as he was walking pass it . He rushes to you, only to find you with a piece of glass in your hand as the bottle of the perfume was already broken on the ground.

He takes you to the infirmary. Needless to say, he ignored you as you preached through the way 'Levi! It's fine. I'll ask Hange for a stitch!'.

A day passed a few stitches on your hand. You were in your office doing your paperwork when you heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." You said without taking away your eyes from the document in front of you.

"You can at least look at me, you know?"

You lifted your head and gave him a smile once you heard Levi. "Hello, Levi! What a sweet surprise."

"Tsk. Wait until you see the actual surprise."

You raised an eyebrow and looked at him with confusion. "Close your eyes." He ordered.

With suspicion in your eyes, you did as he asked. You could feel him doing something on your desk. "Now, open."

As you opened your eyes, you saw a little flower pot filled with soil on your desk. "Forget about the perfume. This is your present."

A big smile was now on your face "Wow thank you so much! But you have already gave me a gift. What's up with this one?"

"Apparently, perfumes weren't the best idea. Since...the fading scent causes a fading relationship so...I decided to give you something that grows instead of something that fades." He felt he was being cheesy. Almost embarrassed. "Anyways, water it every other day and leave it in sunlight."

He left so fast you couldn't say anything. Honestly, you didn't even have to. His gesture left no room for anything but appreciation.

A Celebratory img of the 15th Anniversary of Homestuck and man its cool being able to do this as A new fan of the series. I heard of it in the past from all the horror stories and how cringe the fandom is and you know its half right but i learn to embrace the good in all. So Altaïr and Ezio use terms of affection all the time with Desmond, but it doesn't look like Desmond uses any back to them. Like Altaïr and Ezio call Des Habibi and Tesoro all the time but he never calls them by cute pet names.

When Connor shows up, before they realize Connor isn't his given name, do you think they get confused when Desmond calls him Rathonhagé:ton? Like they think Desmond is calling him something sweet because they don't realize that's his name? I think Ezio would be especially bitter about it.

rather than pet names I like to think he on rare occasions (being drunk, wanting to annoy them, make them do smthn for him) uses the Shortened names like Connie/Radoo, Ezy/ez, Alty (never rlly normally tho) or If he really wants to rile em up "Mentor/é" "My prophet/s" "assassin" their own nicknames back at them" etc

Oh and.. "sir/s" tho thats just me wanting that kink in there :9

realistically 2 smartass assassins would figure it out themselves that its probobly his real name💀 but its fun for dynamics so I dont think dumbing characters down is bad I just try to keep it away from becoming idk too... Ooc and trope-y? Even tho they are litterally ooc antime I draw them interacting lol

They would probobly be more jelous that they cannot pronounce it also (the accents dont help....Connor doesnt even want to hear Ezio try it tho he does appriciate them not giving up)

I think Connor also wouldn't use petnames(esp english ones) but maybe he would give Desmond a Kanien'kéha name? Bc he knows Ezio and Altaïr would not be able to pronounce it (I am not sure tbh I have not researched the language or the native-culture on how love language works yet)

Maybe he would call Desmond "spirit" the first time he appears and just stick with it sometimes

Hello! Sorry for not answering this right away, life has been hectic, and this question made me pause for a bit to think. Mostly because I'm not really sure how to answer it haha

I'm filipino, so writing my filipino ocs are in some ways an extension of writing about myself and my own experiences. That being said, their pinoy background informs who they are as characters, but a lot of what they do when I draw them isn't necessarily defined by their filipino-ness, if that makes sense. Sometimes it is--when tackling things like language and tradition and history, it's definitely highlighted, but otherwise it's, like I said, informed vs defined.

I think apart from the usual "Be respectful and sensitive!" advice that'd be given about this sort of stuff, I guess any potential answer depends on what your intention is! There's a lot of different experiences to look at or consider.

Is this character born and raised in the Philippines? Or are they part of the diaspora? Their relationship to their culture can be different based on this. What time period do they live in? What part of the Philippines are they from? Are they indigenous? Is this a fantastical world?

I guess, is there anything to highlight? Why do you want the character to be filipino? ('representation' and 'i think they're cool' are totally acceptable answers, just something you need to think about).

There are broadstrokes 'cultural' traits you could draw from (gregarious, respectful towards elders, importance of family, friendly, hospitable, "Filipino Time" lol etc) but those will differ from person to person, as most things do. There are common gestures and traditions, nicknames and experiences, there's honestly quite a lot.

It's not easy for me to point you in a concrete direction because my characters are organic to my own experiences, except for when I was writing things in a historical context (like reading into Filipinos in American History). I guess finding media showing filipino life (movies or youtube videos, people make so many youtube videos about their experiences, both everyday and otherwise) or seeking out other filipino artists and storytellers, or even just filipino figures you can learn about.

(...A terrible part of me wants to say that if you can find a joke list saying "you know you're filipino when..." then you can learn a lot about the humor and also those 'generic experiences' of the culture haha. "You know you're filipino when you point with your lips instead of your fingers/you play basketball in flip flops/you can't tell the difference between an actual aunt/uncle or a 'close family friend.'" You don't want to work entirely off of those stereotypes, because you'll just end up with, well, a stereotype, but those are commonalities in the details.)

I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. It's just a very broad question that I haven't had to think about much myself. I'm glad you're interested in making filipino characters though! There are a lot more of us out there than people recognize, and we don't get represented much outside of the Philippines itself, so it's nice to be seen.

With the background that you're allo and that you (IIRC) took a while to come around to the idea of asexuals being queer, might I suggest that you being uniquely annoyed by silly comics about aces being immune to succubi suggests you haven't quite shed that line of thinking?

Especially when 99.99999% of use of sirens/succubi/whatever in allosexual fiction is about sex, even though the "not everyone is a desperate horndog, surely some of these people would have other desires that would be more effective to exploit" line of thinking applies just as much there!

Yes it's your blog and your preferences and you're free to talk about stuff that annoys you as you like. Questioning plural culture is having two 'people' that FEEL separate from you and yet not seperate enough because they don't have any independent interests/feelings/memories , very VERY rarely having them 'front' and when they talk they sound like you and your inner monologue so you're not sure at all, and have no amnesia or particular trauma that could've led to them forming

You also think you have bpd so it could be a way of coping or rationalising your feelings (one of them cares about me like a mom and the other one holds most of my bpd symptoms) but it doesn't feel like youre a singlet but you're pretty sure you're not a system either so ! I saw your tags, and i would like to let you both know that Theogamia, much like most ancient greek festivals, has a few possible celebration dates!

Not much is known on exact dates of festivals, so the helpol and hellenic pagan community tends to celebrate festivals in a 3 day to a week period of known dates from ancient Athens!

Also, for a bit of cultural knowledge, even ancient times, the dates were not exact, and many worshipers celebrated in small gatherings on days that fell generally close to the larger festivals held in places like Ancient Athens!

So essentially there is no pressure to celebrate on that exact day or time and im absolutely positive the gods are not and will not be upset at "late" offerings because its the spirit of the festival and the love of its preservation that really gets the energy across :)

Date conversion is complicated, and the ancient festivals were built for a world completly different from our current one

I belive the gods appriciate the thought and care to do it more than the time.

Well, technically he can both hate us larries while still realise we make up a good part of his fanbase and pay his wages. So he can hate us and still bait us if he understands how catering to us will make him rich and famous.

That's sort of what Prince did. Queerbaited, appropriated queer culture and queer aesthetic, got the queer dollar, but he was against gay marriage and gay sex.

Having said that, Louis does not hate us larries, he loves us. He also want us as fans, want us to see him for who he is and appriciates us. Most of his own actions are him just queercoding (triangle tattoo, i love him i hate it), but siging 7, drawing media attention on larry and getting Dylan to play afhf can be seen as larriebaiting. I don't mind it as long as he stops shitting on larries in the same breath.

Ironic sense of humour, including dark jokes but can be sensitive at times. A realist with my head in the clouds and aware of it, if that makes sense! I know how to focus and dedicate myself to getting things done but firmly believe there is nothing wrong with wanting to be taken care of at the end of the day, balance is important.

In love i'm playful and poetic but don't hold back in saying how I really feel about a person. Definitely someone who rambles and overshares with my partner but incredibly observing and loyal to who i'm with. Building up the other person is important and self care is too - i'm always up front if I need to go off and spend time alone or with friends but my husband is my best friend hands down.

Headcanons for Issac telling the ghost gang + Nigel about his trips to France, Spain, Portugal and Italy? Issac and Nigel both realised that they visited several German states, including Prussia and Austria. Nigel gets briefly offended that Isaac visited France considering that when he was alive Great Britain, France were like massive rivals and during the American revolution, France actually supported the rebel colonists.

Can't think of anything, since I know so little about those places in the 1700s, but I do love the idea of Nigel having a distaste for the French that almost rivals Thor's and Hettie's hatred for Danes and Irishmen. I am torn between him being completely rabid about it, or at least outrage, because it would be funny to see the usually composed Nigel act that way, or if he would would be more Nigel about it though; Snarky or smug comments, complaints, and haughty criticism rather than shouted slurs, threats and stories of gory violence and decapitation.

Isaac being a Francophile sounds plausible, given his political views and taste for "the finer things" in life. I can also imagine Hettie, Sam, Jay (what kind of chef doesn't like France) and Pete being Francophiles, and Alberta at least being a fan of the Parisian music scene in the 1920's. Not sure how Flower and Trevor would feel about France. I guess Flower would like that France criticised USA involvement in the Vietnam War, but beside that I doubt she had any strong feelings about or interest in the country. Trevor might be indifferent or think it's a nice vacation place, but hardly be interested in it's culture. Or he might think they are lame. I can totally imagine Trevor as being one of those guys who thinks any other country then their own are lame. 

I can imagine Nigel being pissed NO ONE despises the French, besides him and his fellow redcoats (and maybe Trevor).

As for Thorfinn, he would get excited when someone mentioned Normandy, and be upset when he realizes it's no longer being ruled by the Normanns, the descendence of Norsemen who seattle there, and that the Franks got it back. I don't know how widely known fact that Normandy was a norse colonly is in England and USA today, yet alone during the other inhabitants lifetimes. I can totally imagine no one but Pete the travel agent knowing this, and being shocked.

Sas would be offended on behalf of the people Frankish people who were already living there, and were subjugated by the Normanns, and when he realizes the Normanns picked up the local language and customs, he would make snarky comments about how even blood thirsty vikings showed more acceptance of their colonized subjects culture then the Europeans and Americans of the modern era. 

If Nigel and Isaac visited some of the same places, I imagine they would be quite happy about it, and gush about what they liked about it. I can imagine them having simliar opinion about a lot of things, like art and such, despite having different principals in regards to things like politics. I wonder if Nigel was always fascinated by ants, or if that is just something learned to appriciate as a ghost. I he like insect while alive, then he might be more fascinated with fauna and nature than Isaac. Sass, Pete and Thor might be more willing to listen to Nigel go on about those subjects.

CAS - creativity/service - Porto Etno

From 9am until 3pm this Saturday, June 3rd I volonteered at Porto Etno 2023 - a gastronomy and music festival that includes national minorities of Croatia. My collegues from Business Management and Visual arts along with our mentors Nina Šepić and Bisera Karanović and Icame up with a plan. The plan was to make a lemonade stand to gain donations for Udruga Rijeka 21 (Croatian community for down syndrome) for the price of 1 euro per cup. We started planning and iniciating the project a week before. My Business management collegues sorted out the materials needed, finances involved and shirt designs, while us, Visual arts students created the stand's aesthetic features. My friend Lucija Perkić designed the promo for the project. Maja drew drawings for the stand and I created the stands name which originated from an idea me and my friend Ena had lasr summer. See, we were drinking lemonade every day while visiting Rab together, we were joking how the lemon aided us and decided to create a new name for the lemonade we were drinking - lemonaid. The project was then named Lemonaid. The final plan was to include homemade kiwi, mint and edelberry syrups which we would then make into juice by mixing water in it at the stand. We also calculated how many lemons we will need per cups, calculated the perfect ratio as well as organized what materials need to be brought. My job was to bring a strainer and mint, create the banner for the stand and finally to volonteer. We arrived at 9am to Export Drvo where Proto Etno was organized. We immediately got to work. We put the stand together and started squeezing the lemons to make lemon juice. Before we knew it it was 10:30 and people started to arrive. It was very vibrant. There were so many different countries with various foods stands as well as distinct cultural dances. It was very inspiring and interesting to taste different spices and sweets, watching the dances made me realize just how different our cultures can be which made it even more special and beautiful. We "worked" at the stands in shifts. We were slowly starting to collect money. The experience of working at a stand when there's a lot going on around me was a bit confusing at the beginning, but as time went by I got the memo and it was quite fun. I liked the rush of making the lemonade as well as communicating with tons of different people. It was very interesting to hear and see so many different cultures at one place. We worked, danced, ate and had so much fun while learing new values and appriciating some new, and some already kown cultures. At the end I believe we managed to gather around 150 euros which is so incredible and inspiring, we could support a community that is in need of financial support. Volonteering is an act I truly adore, especially if it involves some creative aspects. The feeling of being able to help other people while having fun and also learning truly makes you wonder just how special and unique life is. I feel like this experience helped me gain another view on volonteering because I learned something new, seen something I’ve never seen before and tasted incredible delicies. It’s very importand to note the sigificance of brining people, communities together and celebrating eachothers differences.

day one in rome ... (#1)

its really pretty here and i love the culture. i must admit that this is the worst time i could have chosen to visit because its the busiest weekend for the city, i hate when its busy in places i feel so overwhelmed and it makes me want to crawl into bed

i love travelling with mum but shes unwell so currently its not too good hopefully she gets better but honestly i dont think we will do too much for the trip

i still intend to go out and buy lots of snacks and souvenirs because theres so many beautiful things here!

its at times like these that i learn that although doing big plans such as travelling etc brings a lot of excitement and anticipation, i realise now how much appriciation i have for the simpler things in life.

dont get me wrong though i cant wait for my birthday trip, and i cant wait to go to see all the miffy places and eat well !!

i guess ill see what tomorrow brings in rome but honestly im not too confident, i think itll be a long couple of days but im going to make the most of it !

yeah! her and her family are igbo, they live back in nigeria whilst mi lives with a host family to study. she's very close to them but also kind of appriciates the distance lol. when [REDACTED] becomes a more central figure in the story, it becomes a lot clearer why mi refused to become a chosen and it's partially to do with religion

How food is an accumulation of thousands of years of humans existence. To appriciate food is to appriciate life itself.
