What do you think the boys would be like as older brothers to little sisters?

Canonly Javier is a very loving older brother, that much is canon as we hear him talk about his sister. He seems to miss her a lot. I believe that he would love to teach a younger sister to fish and other things either he or she might enjoy.

Dutch... I am a little conflicted about, because on one hand Dutch as we know it isn't that attentive to people around him unless he gains from it. However, there might be a special connection if they share blood, we know that he is still in contact with his family, so he might have this sense of glory over it. He would however expect a certian level of class from the sister as she would be an extention of him in both good and bad.

Hosea: Sweet man, absolutely sweet man. With his age the younger sister will likely also be up in the ages, so just watching out for her, helping her where it is needed, take her into town and just hang out.

Charles: If you know Noshir's headcanon for Charles family history... You know it ain't good. Charles is a very loyal man to his family, robbing for his dad despite not liking it and searching for his mother far after she got taken, however it never ended well and then when all strings were loose he went lose as well, killing and murdering. If he had another sister who lived, he might not have gotten so violent, he might not have gotten violent at all. It is the same ponder as "would Jack have gone after Ross had the Marston girl lived," they both did it because they had no one and had lost everything, but if Charles had a sister he would have had someone. So yeah, very sweet and caring, possibly protective.

John: I am a bit conflicted on this as well. Because we see how close Marston is with Abigail and Jack later once he has accepted them, however that love and cares largely also came from him maturing, and in 1899 he is not mature, he is seeking that respect he is too young to gain. He would probably he a bit absent, too focused on his own life and his own achievements.

Arthur: He still has loyality towards his dad despite him possibly not being the best guy and having died so long ago, so his relation to family is strong. You are likely going to see a very protective man, however, he does believe in genderroles, so likely he will be slightly pushing them onto a possible sister. So yes, he will take them out on trips, but it will be "appropriate" ones.

Lenny: He is more driven by revenge than family. His mother isn't dead, she was likely still in his life before Lenny went and killed his fathers killers. I imagine that he would love her, absolutely, but he is doing his own thing. So yes, very sweet with her, but he wouldn't be held back by her.

Sean: He would probably teach her everything he knew about ireland, teach her about their father's history, what happened to him and so on. They have a culture and a history and I imagine he wants her to have that as well, especially since she would have been less around their father than he.

Bill: A little sister might actually have saved him. All he wants is to be appriciated and validated, a sister could have done this and if she does, all the affection that Bill has to Dutch would go to her. He got a taste of it and he wants more.

Micah: Micah is more loyal to values than family, we see how it went with Amos. So he would keep her around to do chores as long as she didn't disagree with him.

You know how in some cultures giving perfume as a gift is considered to bring seperation and bad luck for that relationship?

Idk how to explain this but Levi would definitely buy you an expensive perfume for your birthday. My man is clueless, okay? Until you receive the gift and of course you appriciate it. Then, by chance, he hears a random cadet talking to his friend about what he'll buy for his girlfriend. He never meant to eavesdrop but he couldn't help it, the brats were loud. So he hears the conversation between them.

"How about perfume? I'll buy her something fancy."

"Yeah do that, unless you don't actually want to bring that relationship to an end."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"DoItt you know? It brings bad luck, seperation, even. She's already outta your league don't spit on your chance!"

Now, listen. Of course, he doesn't believe something as ridiculous and superstitious. But...being the overthinker he is, he just can't stop thinking about it.

What if you misunderstood him? Thinking he wants this relationship to end. What if something happens and you end up breaking up with him? After all, superstitions become common beliefs once something happens over and over, right? Or even worse, what if the bad luck the gift has brought, makes you end up dead in an expedition? He can't risk that.

His overthinking reaches its climax once he hears something breaking from your room as he was walking pass it . He rushes to you, only to find you with a piece of glass in your hand as the bottle of the perfume was already broken on the ground.

He takes you to the infirmary. Needless to say, he ignored you as you preached through the way 'Levi! It's fine. I'll ask Hange for a stitch!'.

A day passed a few stitches on your hand. You were in your office doing your paperwork when you heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." You said without taking away your eyes from the document in front of you.

"You can at least look at me, you know?"

You lifted your head and gave him a smile once you heard Levi. "Hello, Levi! What a sweet surprise."

"Tsk. Wait until you see the actual surprise."

You raised an eyebrow and looked at him with confusion. "Close your eyes." He ordered.

With suspicion in your eyes, you did as he asked. You could feel him doing something on your desk. "Now, open."

As you opened your eyes, you saw a little flower pot filled with soil on your desk. "Forget about the perfume. This is your present."

A big smile was now on your face "Wow thank you so much! But you have already gave me a gift. What's up with this one?"

"Apparently, perfumes weren't the best idea. Since...the fading scent causes a fading relationship so...I decided to give you something that grows instead of something that fades." He felt he was being cheesy. Almost embarrassed. "Anyways, water it every other day and leave it in sunlight."

He left so fast you couldn't say anything. Honestly, you didn't even have to. His gesture left no room for anything but appreciation.

Btw before I sleep;

I have considered a divergent au from the "Nüwa and Fuxi are MK's bio parents" idea where MK, instead of inheriting mostly monkey genetics, took more after his mama and popped out a naga/lamia-like snake demon.

Bonus, MK's scales aren't emerald green like Nüwa's, but rather a mix of golden yellow and orange. Like autumn leaves, or egg noodles floating in spicy broth. His eyes are a very pretty brown-gold color with slitted pupils.

Still has a demon monkey top-half. Wild brown fur all over his head, arms, and torso, and a body-length mohawk of fur going all the way down his snake tail.

Whoever made MK look human in canon def has a harder time hiding that part of him!

Pigsy finds the muddy baby outside his shop and it takes him a moment to realise that the kid wasn't wearing a thick skirt.

Pigsy, washing MK in the sink: "Poor little guy. Even your legs are- uh...?"

Baby MK: (*no legs, just baby snake lower half*)

One of the first things Pigsy had to teach MK was to chew his food and not unhinge his jaw willy-nilly. And to not drink things by dunking his whole face in it.

Tang was the unfortunate soul to discover that MK's particular snake species was a "crushing" type - when the baby had a nightmare while wrapped around his arm. He has a copy of the resulting x-rays to prove it. XD

Having a "snake-butt" as MK calls it can be annoying in modern day life, but he's got insane core-body strength as a side effect. Pigsy had to get a specially-designed vehicle before he could let his boy deliver noodles for the restaurant.

Still a super Monkey King fan too, he's still half-monkey after all. Now he just has a bonus appriciation for the story of White Snake. For a while as a child he thought he was the result of a snake-demon/human romance like what happened between Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian.

Snakes and dragons actually have some pretty big cultural tension between them in Chinese lore (snakes are considered "lesser dragons"), so the fact Snakey!MK and Mei would 100% still be besties would be seen as pretty unusual. But when did these two ever conform to societal expectations?

When MK inherits the Staff, Wukong quickly discovers that he can use his tail as a third limb for balance - allowing MK to pull off some pretty unique fight moves!

MK is still terrified of spiders. The fact that baby snakes eat them is besides the point. He'd also get a more serious reaction to LBD's icy powers since cold temperatures cause blinding headaches and loss of conciousness in snakes.

The Celestial Realm gets really nervous when they see that Wukong's successor is a half-snake for some reason. MK personally thinks Nezha's pink scales and horns are cool af.

A Celebratory img of the 15th Anniversary of Homestuck and man its cool being able to do this as A new fan of the series. I heard of it in the past from all the horror stories and how cringe the fandom is and you know its half right but i learn to embrace the good in all. So Altaïr and Ezio use terms of affection all the time with Desmond, but it doesn't look like Desmond uses any back to them. Like Altaïr and Ezio call Des Habibi and Tesoro all the time but he never calls them by cute pet names.

When Connor shows up, before they realize Connor isn't his given name, do you think they get confused when Desmond calls him Rathonhagé:ton? Like they think Desmond is calling him something sweet because they don't realize that's his name? I think Ezio would be especially bitter about it.

rather than pet names I like to think he on rare occasions (being drunk, wanting to annoy them, make them do smthn for him) uses the Shortened names like Connie/Radoo, Ezy/ez, Alty (never rlly normally tho) or If he really wants to rile em up "Mentor/é" "My prophet/s" "assassin" their own nicknames back at them" etc

I think Connor also wouldn't use petnames(esp english ones) but maybe he would give Desmond a Kanien'kéha name? Bc he knows Ezio and Altaïr would not be able to pronounce it (I am not sure tbh I have not researched the language or the native-culture on how love language works yet)

Maybe he would call Desmond "spirit" the first time he appears and just stick with it sometimes

System culture is all having pretty similar levels of attachment to our mother, because even if we don't all talk to her she takes care of those of us who do see her, and we appriciate that.

Hello! Sorry for not answering this right away, life has been hectic, and this question made me pause for a bit to think. Mostly because I'm not really sure how to answer it haha

I'm filipino, so writing my filipino ocs are in some ways an extension of writing about myself and my own experiences. That being said, their pinoy background informs who they are as characters, but a lot of what they do when I draw them isn't necessarily defined by their filipino-ness, if that makes sense. Sometimes it is--when tackling things like language and tradition and history, it's definitely highlighted, but otherwise it's, like I said, informed vs defined.

I think apart from the usual "Be respectful and sensitive!" advice that'd be given about this sort of stuff, I guess any potential answer depends on what your intention is! There's a lot of different experiences to look at or consider.

Is this character born and raised in the Philippines? Or are they part of the diaspora? Their relationship to their culture can be different based on this. What time period do they live in? What part of the Philippines are they from? Are they indigenous? Is this a fantastical world?

I guess, is there anything to highlight? Why do you want the character to be filipino? ('representation' and 'i think they're cool' are totally acceptable answers, just something you need to think about).

There are broadstrokes 'cultural' traits you could draw from (gregarious, respectful towards elders, importance of family, friendly, hospitable, "Filipino Time" lol etc) but those will differ from person to person, as most things do. There are common gestures and traditions, nicknames and experiences, there's honestly quite a lot.

It's not easy for me to point you in a concrete direction because my characters are organic to my own experiences, except for when I was writing things in a historical context (like reading into Filipinos in American History). I guess finding media showing filipino life (movies or youtube videos, people make so many youtube videos about their experiences, both everyday and otherwise) or seeking out other filipino artists and storytellers, or even just filipino figures you can learn about.

(...A terrible part of me wants to say that if you can find a joke list saying "you know you're filipino when..." then you can learn a lot about the humor and also those 'generic experiences' of the culture haha. "You know you're filipino when you point with your lips instead of your fingers/you play basketball in flip flops/you can't tell the difference between an actual aunt/uncle or a 'close family friend.'" You don't want to work entirely off of those stereotypes, because you'll just end up with, well, a stereotype, but those are commonalities in the details.)

I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. It's just a very broad question that I haven't had to think about much myself. I'm glad you're interested in making filipino characters though! There are a lot more of us out there than people recognize, and we don't get represented much outside of the Philippines itself, so it's nice to be seen.

Especially when 99.99999% of use of sirens/succubi/whatever in allosexual fiction is about sex, even though the "not everyone is a desperate horndog, surely some of these people would have other desires that would be more effective to exploit" line of thinking applies just as much there!

Yes it's your blog and your preferences and you're free to talk about stuff that annoys you as you like. Questioning plural culture is having two 'people' that FEEL separate from you and yet not seperate enough because they don't have any independent interests/feelings/memories , very VERY rarely having them 'front' and when they talk they sound like you and your inner monologue so you're not sure at all, and have no amnesia or particular trauma that could've led to them forming

You also think you have bpd so it could be a way of coping or rationalising your feelings (one of them cares about me like a mom and the other one holds most of my bpd symptoms) but it doesn't feel like youre a singlet but you're pretty sure you're not a system either so ! Marisol is always interested to hear about new cultures. Being raised entirely in Gulool Ja Ja's Tulliyolal gave her the appriciation for the diversity of people. She will encourage and listen with rapt attention to anyone willing to discuss their culture. And if you ever find her back in Tural, she is a fantastic guide that will be able to tell you so much about the different peoples of the nation.

So i've just stumbled upon match ups and I'm here for this concept!! Bit of fun and all that, in the spirit of reader shipping i'd love a Hobbit/LOTR/HP/Marvel match up - lover of many fandoms here!

It's a fine line between having compassion and complaining and I walk that line well. I'm serious when i'm serious but embrace being silly. Ironic sense of humour, including dark jokes but can be sensitive at times. A realist with my head in the clouds and aware of it, if that makes sense! I know how to focus and dedicate myself to getting things done but firmly believe there is nothing wrong with wanting to be taken care of at the end of the day, balance is important.

In love i'm playful and poetic but don't hold back in saying how I really feel about a person. Definitely someone who rambles and overshares with my partner but incredibly observing and loyal to who i'm with. Building up the other person is important and self care is too - i'm always up front if I need to go off and spend time alone or with friends but my husband is my best friend hands down.

I saw your tags, and i would like to let you both know that Theogamia, much like most ancient greek festivals, has a few possible celebration dates!

Not much is known on exact dates of festivals, so the helpol and hellenic pagan community tends to celebrate festivals in a 3 day to a week period of known dates from ancient Athens!

Also, for a bit of cultural knowledge, even ancient times, the dates were not exact, and many worshipers celebrated in small gatherings on days that fell generally close to the larger festivals held in places like Ancient Athens!

So essentially there is no pressure to celebrate on that exact day or time and im absolutely positive the gods are not and will not be upset at "late" offerings because its the spirit of the festival and the love of its preservation that really gets the energy across :)

Date conversion is complicated, and the ancient festivals were built for a world completly different from our current one

I belive the gods appriciate the thought and care to do it more than the time.
