It was clear blue with clouds lazily going across it. Basically, it was one of those days when he wanted to take you out and hold your hands as you looked around the shops and ate food together.

But alas, he did not have the means to do so.

He always believed that being poor made him stronger and that it wasn't something that he should be embarrassed about. After all, it wasn't like he was the one who chose to be given that life.

But there are days when he wishes he does have money. Where he can buy the things he needs and eat what he wants without having to worry about it. Where he can just spoil you with everything you want.

Because shit he was absolutely, madly in love with you that he just can't help that want to give you everything you deserve even when you never ask for anything.

You, who was always so patient with him. You who waited for him to accept your feelings, you who always reminded him to be safe in fights, you who always cleaned him up after it. You who never fail to make him feel so so loved.

He sighs before taking a drag from his cigarette. Watching as the puff of smoke floats by him, he racks his brain for possible gifts.

Just then he spots them. Wildflowers growing by the riverbank. They weren't big nor grandiose and weren't as colorful as a bouquet of flowers. But he hopes (He knows) you would like them.

So he walks over to it, kneeling before gingerly picking them from the ground and holding them with care. He stares at the flowers and smiles.

He hopes you know he picked them with the thought of you.

The rhythmic sound of the train tracks is almost expected, the same noise I'd heard for as long as I can remember. It rocks and squeaks slightly with age, the district not having enough funds to get a newer model. No one really take this train anymore, it's off the main routes and most don't put in the effort to take a scenic ride on the outskirts of the city. But that's what I like, no one's ever there to bother me. Well that was until six months ago.

He'd shown up on a hot summer afternoon, looking confused at the empty train. It'd only been two stops since mine, having just finished school for the day. His gaze was calculated, looking down towards where I sat, then back the other way. I'd looked away when his gaze brushed over me, my mind suddenly finding the window interesting. A seat by the lengthy windows, far from where I'd sat, was where he chose to sit. The entire ride until my stop, he barely made a noise and had his eyes glued to the scenery that passed by, he was like a statue. After that ride, I didn't see him for a few days and I almost forgot about him completely. Until he showed up again. This time when he stepped into the again empty car, he spoke.

"Is this a ghost train or something?" He had asked, a short chuckle leaving his mouth.

"Or something" I responded with a small smile. He'd returned it before taking the same seat he did last time.

It went on like that for months, small conversation that lead into him moving to closer seats. Then it was full conversations and sitting in the same booth as me. Now it's like routine for him to take this train, talk for the thirty minute ride until I get off and repeat the same process the next day. There was no denying he was strategic and nice and... attractive. We'd gotten close over the months and I had to admit, it was pleasant having someone to talk to.

Today wasn't much different from any other and as I sat down on that worn seat I'd sat in for years, I felt myself relax a bit. It was normal for me to feel at ease on this always vacant train, but as of late, as we approach his stop, I grow nervous. Do I look good today? Is my hair a mess? What if my clothes are dirty and I just can't tell?

A flurry of shallow doubt comes on, even when I'm sure he wouldn't notice even if I was in absolute disarray. Would he even care? Does he care? A heat rises to my cheeks at the thought of my unsure feelings being somewhat reciprocated.

The trains breaks screech, signaling the stop is here already. Suddenly I find myself fixing my hair quickly, restraining myself from fiddling any more than I already am. The slight hiss of the door opening and the sound of heavy sneakers is the only sound that draws my attention to the entrance. And there he is, taking calm strikes towards where I'm sat, his usual small smile plastered on his lips.

"Hey, Train Guy, what sensational stories to do have for me today?" My tone is beyond sarcastic, a smile making its way onto my face. He'd told me about many instances that have happened at Suzuran, bloody fights, the hierarchy, his goals. They were all very entertaining.

"I told you already, my name is Izaki. And not much, Genji's doing my head in" His answer is delivered casually as he slips into the seat in front of me, the train beginning to move.

"So the usual then?" I respond with a smirk. His only reaction is a short nod and an equally as wide smirk that mirrors mine. A short silence stretches on between us before he decids to speak.

"How's school?" His question is short, but genuine and he clears his throat afterwards, like it was hard for him to say. I narrow my eyes slightly at him, trying to read him. He'd never really had trouble saying what he wanted.

"It's good, exams are over finally so I'm basically free for the rest of the term" I answer with a tone of relief, enjoying the thought of no more stressful papers to complete.

He again nods shortly, looking out the window at the passing environment, while I watch his side profile. God, he's so handsome. I wonder what he might be thinking right now, where his mind has escaped to. The gentle sway of the train's movement is calming and I try not to stare too much.

"Still no boyfriend?" He asks suddenly, his voice inquisitive. It catches me so off guard I almost choke on my own spit.

"Uh- No, definitely not" My voice shakes slightly with nervousness, who the hell asks that out of the blue?

"Good" The one word answer pushes me further into shock, I keep my eyes on him as he turns his head to face me again. And he looks pleased, an expression I don't see him wear often. "Because I want you to be mine"

It's blunt and leaves my mouth agape, my mind struggles to process his words without malfunctioning. I close my mouth finally, looking down at my lap with heated cheeks.

"You shouldn't joke about that" I say softly, deflecting his obvious confession. I can feel his eyes on me and I keep my gaze away.

"I'm not joking, but I will understand if I'm not who you want" His voice is lowered, like he's trying to calm me.

"I do want you- you just can't be so blunt all the time" I respond, finally looking up at him. There's a wide smile that sits on his face, like this is the happiest moment of his life. I can't help but mirror his expression.

"Being blunt is easier than beating around the bush" He says conclusively, this time keeping his eyes on me and I can't seem to break away from his gaze either.

I give a small nod, it's the only reply I can muster. The rest of that train ride was a sort of bliss, the kind that follows a tense moment. We discuss where we should go for a date and he slips in a few jokes, meant for someone who's more than just his friend. And for once, I'm glad to not be the only one on this train.

Beyond Barbie, I’ve watched a fair amount of movies since I last updated y’all against your wills. So many in fact that I’m not going to do a whole ass write up of each because that’s just a complete waste of time. Plus I write reviews on my Letterboxd page, but they’re not entirely fit for public consumption. But I’ll give like a one-sentence review/my thoughts of each, so here we go:

So for context, the last film I posted about in my last list was The First Omen.

Since then I’ve seen:

- The Omen: Keep that woman away from ledges, god dammit.

- Damien: Omen II: I don’t know if this movie came before or after the movie about the crows, but either way this movie did it better.

- Joker: I’d already seen this, but lately I’ve been tossing in some rewatches so I can keep a thorough log/review of them on Letterboxd. P.S. this one is still good.

- The Final Conflict: Omen III: A decent enough ending for its time, to a decent enough franchise for its time.

- Challengers: The single hottest, gayest soft core porno I’ve ever seen, fucking incredible.

- Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood: Went in with zero context, thought it was mid. Read up on the context. Now think it’s pretty OK.

- Idiocracy: Terry Crews as President of the United States, please and thank you.

- Saw I - VII: Progressively got better over time, ashamed to admit one brutal murder scene did kind of turn me on. I need help.

- The entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise: Obviously a rewatch. First three are literally perfect. Fourth is when we start to see cracks, but it’s OK. Fifth is unwatchable.

- Ready or Not: Went in thinking it was meant to be horror, not a comedy. I was wrong. Pretty funny movie though. Neat premise. Adam Brody is hot.

- Signs: Shamalyan’s God sends aliens to kill hundreds of thousands of people because one man lost faith in him. Shit story. Liked Joaquin Phoenix and a young Kieran Culkin though.

- The Happening: Shamalyan’s God decides to make hundreds of thousands of people kill themselves because the worst romantic pairing in the universe won’t fuck.

- The Sixth Sense: Shamalyan continues to prove that he is a one hit wonder, and this is his hit. That being said, I haven’t cried that hard in a while upon rewatching this.

- Skinamarink: As someone plagued with waking nightmares, this movie spoke to me. It didn’t say much of anything at all, but it certainly spoke to me. Do not recommend.

- Slotherhouse: A dumb bad movie that knows it’s dumb and bad, and is really really good at being both, but in a good way, you know?

- Barbie: An alright cutesie movie so long as you’re willing to accept that it’s not based in reality.

Overall, I’ve been watching a fair amount of movies since my last post, and I plan to watch a whole lot more. Also a lot of rewatches as well I think.

Hiii, i’ve taken an interest in reading the manga series of Crows x Worst from your masterlist. But i’ve noticed that there are sequels to it and the internet is not giving me a direct answer as to what to read first 😭 , it says Crows was the first series published but that Crowz ZERO is the prequel, pls help meeeee.

You have no idea how happy this makes me! ❤ I can absolutely help you, so let me put together a little guide for you and anyone else interested in Takahashi Hiroshi's delinquent universe. Fellow fans can always correct me or add to the list. This is just my personal recommendation. Click on the underlined titles to read it!

Crows x Worst Reading Guide

Crows: The golden classic and first chronological work featuring the Suzuran delinquent school.

Sono Go No Crows: Optional one-shot set after Crows and before Worst. You don't have to read it, but it offers a smoother transition, and you get to know some characters in advance.

Worst: Continuation to Crows, although with a new protagonist and new characters.

Saigo no Worst: Sequel, takes place one year after Worst has ended.

Side-stories/Gaidens/Other works

Crows ZERO: Prequel to Crows, although written years later. Different cast, and you won't find it online because no group has scanlated/translated it. You can watch the live action movie instead.

Crows ZERO II: Follow-up to the first part, and covers the second movie. Drawn by Tetsuhiro Hirakawa (Author of Clover, another delinquent manga I recommend).

Crows EXPLODE: Sequel to the Crows ZERO saga. Also drawn by Tetsuhiro Hirakawa, only found it translated to Vietnamese.

Crows Gaiden - Katagiri Ken Monogatari: One-shot featuring the Crows ZERO protagonist.

No doubt, most of you have heard the recent news of Quentin Tarantino deciding to shelve his planned-for-years movie, The Movie Critic, because he didn't think it was "worthy" of being his final film.

I can't say I was looking forward to it — absolutely nothing about the phrase "1970s period piece" is in any way appealing to me — but I find it to be just the latest example of something that's bugged me about QT for years: his tendency not to commit to ideas he has. I recall numerous occasions when Tarantino would bring up an ideas for movies he wants to make, and then never do anything with those ideas. Just a few examples of projects he's suggested but never followed through on:

A mob movie taking place in 1930s Australia

An "earth-bound" science fiction movie that "wouldn’t involve spaceships"

A biopic on abolitionist John Brown

A film adaptation of the novel Less Than Zero

A sequel to Kill Bill focusing on Elle Driver training Vernita Green's daughter to get revenge on The Bride

Before Casino Royale came out, he wanted to direct the next James Bond movie as a 1960s period piece but with Pierce Brosnan in the role one last time; no less a person than Sean Connery said it sounded like a cool idea

He also wanted to co-create a Star Trek movie with JJ Abrams

He also teased Killer Crow, a World War II-era Blaxploitation film about Black soldiers who make "a warpath to Switzerland" after being "fucked over by the American military

These all sound like amazing ideas for movies, and Tarantino is such a talented director that I have no doubt he could pull them off. Unfortunately, they'll never come to fruition because he's going to retire after his tenth movie to "preserve his artistic legacy" or whatever. I don't know why he feels like he has to do that; other directors like Spielberg and Scorsese are still cranking out hits well into their twilight years, so why does QT feel the need to limit himself?

And here's another question: if QT isn't going to direct those movies, can't he at least write the scripts and hand off directing duties to someone like Robert Rodriguez? From Dusk Till Dawn proved Rodriguez has what it takes to bring Tarantino's scripts to life; it could work with those other movies, too!

KATZ WRAPPED 2023

spotify wrapped is fine and all but i have calculated some stats and rankings of my own, many pertaining to my sick and twisted list of albums to get through during the year.

overall, i crossed 429 albums off my list in 2023.

some of these were albums i had listened to in full years ago, but wanted to revisit because i had a feeling i'd enjoy them more (ex: in keeping secrets of silent earth: 3, year zero). many were albums where i was familiar with one or even a handful of tracks off them, but had never actually listened to them in full (ex: magma, living in darkness). but probably the majority of albums on the list, i had never heard at all (ex: angelfish, spanking machine). the math brings me out to 8.25 albums per week!

i added 779 new tracks to my music library this year, which is the most music i have ever added in a year. the first track i added in 2023 was "Diet Pill" by L7, and the last was "Double Decker" by Skating Polly.

my overall artists of the year were Sleater-Kinney, Jimmy Eat World, and Bad Religion.

i got to see Bad Religion live in 2023!

i also saw Backyard Superheroes, Joker's Republic, Save Ferris, HXLT, Death From Above 1979, Sunsetter, Cam Kahin, Anyway Gang, Tim Kasher, Sparta, Koyo, Thursday, '68, Thrice, The Upstart Crows, and Speed of Light! and i took terrible photos, as always!

my favorite artists that i really discovered this year from the list were Mary Timony, Bayside, and PJ Harvey!

my overall favorite track from the year was "Denise" by Fountains of Wayne!

my favorite track that i only discovered in 2023 was. also "Denise" by Fountains of Wayne

my overall favorite albums of the year were Coral Fang by the Distillers, Still Searching by Senses Fail, The Artist In The Ambulance by Thrice, and Futures by Jimmy Eat World.

relatedly, i got so fucking jumpscared while watching Pushing Daisies.

my favorite albums discovered in 2023 were Ghost Notes by Veruca Salt, Billy Talent II by Billy Talent, Becoming Something Else by Sugarcoma, and Sweet Weaponry by Cruiserweight.

my LEAST favorite albums discovered on the list were Tomorrow Is Nearly Yesterday, And Everyday Is Stupid by Crywank, The Silver Scream by Ice Nine Kills, Song and Legend by Sex Gang Children, and Lobes by We Are Scientists.

in total, i spent about 1163.5 hours listening to music in 2023, about 3 hours a day. this is lower than previous years, probably because i spent a bit more time listening to podcasts than usual. when i worked at a reptile and insect-focused pet shop, i would listen to Behind the Bastards for almost the entire workday.

in 2023, i created three new playlists to organize my music:

fake emo is a massive compilation of songs that i consider to be Emo; not too much emotional hardcore, not too much pop punk. hopefully falling somewhere in between. emo purists please do not make fun of me.

Finished the Episode. Spoilers below

Zero sum episode. No one changed. No one grew as characters. We're in a sitcom.

Eramis had so little growth that she went backwards. So obsessed with making a place for her people she's literally just... gonna make Riis 2.0. But also fuck all the other Eliksni in Sol. Fuck all the Scorn who were changed by Fikrul and suffering. Never learned to forgive, or accept that things are different. Had no change in her hatred. Called us Eliksni slurs the entire time, 'Machine-spawn'. Then at the end called Sol a slum and how us humans were so horrible and made them 'scrabble around like insects'. Like... lady??? You came and assaulted our homeworld during our 'Whirlwind'. You bombing our major cities and ransacking our planet helped turn it into 'a war torn slum.' Wouldn't be an Eliksni season without some guilt tripping about how bad humans are for killing Eliksni like humans aren't also victims of severe Eliksni brutality uwu

Also this is not a win for Eramis girlies out there like you think it is. This is Bungie writing Eramis out of the story for the forseeable future, maybe forever! She's gone. She got what she wanted and promised us she was leaving and never coming back.

Mithrax had a magic illness that was never explained in game. 'It was hinted at in a lore tab'. Shut up. It should have been in the game. How the fuck did NEZAREC get stuck inside Mithrax? Never explained. He never even drank the fucked up tea that woke up Osiris (also then why isn't Nez in Osiris??? (I mean Saint's in Osiris but we won't get into that)) And then its just gone by the end of the Episode. So what was the entire point of it in the first place? To show us Eramis wasn't the biggest bitch in the whole solar system because she healed him? That sucks. There was no meaningful reason for his corruption other than to become uncorrupted. Bad story design.

The end of Act II made Skolas out to be this HUGE big deal that we were gonna have to deal with in Act III. He had a whole bad ass cut scene where they made him out to be a very serious threat. Never mentioned. He wasn't even in the Exotic mission. So where is he? Gathering old members of House Wolves? He's a Scorn now. He gonna be the new Scorn Kell? Am I gonna have to kill that fucker again?

Fikrul's dead. Which was unexpected. I expected them to milk out the Fikrul shit for longer. But I'm guessing they brought back Skolas to replace Fikrul so they could kill Fikrul but still have a Scorn Kell. Because no way Skolas is gonna listen to Fikrul without an echo commanding him to do so. The cutscene was pretty cool! I forgot we were injecting him so when I came out of the mirror I shot him a few more times but he was immune.

Also all the Scorn Barons are alive except the Trickster and the uh... the one who rides the motorbike (probably. We never see her). Maybe. Fikrul brought them all back to life one final time. So that's something we'll deal with in idk, 8 seasons or whatever.

Really wish Crow hadn't been so fucking stupid this season. Or Eido. Crow not even planning what he was gonna say to Fikrul in Act 1 was... boy. What a disaster. Eido's naivety was super frustrating this Episode. I still don't agree with us breaking Eramis out of jail when we did. There was literally no reason to. Eramis didn't do anything meaningful out of jail. We could have just brought her along on the final mission and it would have been about the same result. Very frustrated Bungie gives the player zero agency in the game. We're just running around like a doll pushing buttons. I don't expect Destiny to be an RPG just jfc man. At least let me SAY NO and both options getting the same results in the end. Like Eido goes behind our back or something. They did that for a quest for Drifter where you could be a snitch or be Drifter's ally and the end reward/goal didn't change but you got slightly different dialogue bc Drifter didn't trust you. They can do it!

And because everything worked out for Eido... she never had to question what she was doing. She never once considered what she was doing was the wrong thing. Just blindly trusting of Eramis at all times. I get they're trying to cast her as a sheltered autistic coded person but HOLY SHIT MY DUDES. I was also a sheltered autistic growing up and even I'm not that fucking naive. So Eido also did not grow as a character.

Can't wait for Heresy where we help Eris... do fucking who knows! Probably deal with her trauma about the lost fireteam and being in the Hellmouth. Like we do every time Eris is in a season. Because no one fucking grows as a character or learns anything. Deep is my fave Hive season because Eris isn't in it. Witch is like my least favorite because Eris dealing with her trauma for the 4th time is not a strong enough narrative to hold it's own story anymore. She got a WHOLE EXPANSION where we specifically dealt with Eris' trauma and nightmares. Why the fuck it still the only song she knows?

Fuck man let me go on a stupid adventure with aunty Savathun. Or Luzaku! I'm ready to have some damn Hive friends. We still haven't even SEEN Xivu Arath!

Anyway the Episode was... fine. For all the complaining its Fine. Onslaught is boring, PoE is whatever. Not having red boarders to chase and the guns all being hot garbage this season has made me not wanna play as much. I've used god roll versions of the guns. Not a single one is gonna replace what I already use. Also the season pass armor is ugly so I'm barely gonna hit 200.

Bugsnax headcanon: If grumpuses are jet pilots

After playing Ace Combat series for a long time, I was thinking of a headcanon of which aircrafts the grumpuses would be manning. FYI Those who are absent wouldn’t be willing to be a a pilot due to several reasons. Endgame spoilers warning!

Filbo: He would be pretty much a YH equivalent to PJ (Crow 3) from Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, as he’ll show up in a F-16C “Fighting Falcon” (multirole). However, despite the aircraft’s well-rounded capabilities, it doesn’t really help much considering Filbo would pass out from g-LOC. Or worse, feel nauseous while piloting. He’s better off as an WSO (weapon systems officer) while the Journalist does the job for him.

Wambus: F-4 Phantom II. Despite being an old multirole fighter (like the pilot as he’s hitting 50′s and his body is no longer able to withstand such high amount of g-force), it makes up for its payload and great range while performing well for air superiority and taking down ground targets. By any chance, Triffany would be his WSO (kinda like Monarch and Prez from Project Wingman).

Chandlo: For someone who want an attacker that withstands lots of punishment while causing the most damage as possible, he’ll look no further as the A-10 Thunderbolt II (albeit modified into a 2-seater) is ready to suppress ground forces while turning them into swiss cheese thanks to its gatling gun. The only downside, however, is the mobility at higher altitudes as it kinda handles like a boat with wings. Thankfully, it comes equipped with reinforced armor to compensate the shortcomings. As usual, Snorpy will be his WSO, especially due to the latter being prone to anxiety when piloting an aircraft even if he’s good at it.

Elizabert and Eggabell: SU-47 “Berkut” and SU-37 “Terminator”. Fittingly, they’ll be pretty much a dead ringer to AC6′s “Garuda Team” in addition to working together to take down targets: Either confusing the enemy by flying in synchronization or one of them acting as a bait while the other would pursue the target. Like “Gelb Team” from AC0, they’re equipped with specialized missiles that are fired backwards while sending them a lethal “No U”. Y’all may wonder how the hell did Liz got her paws on a prototype with forward-swept wings (presumably a fully-functional replica since only one real-life SU-47 was ever made before the actual project was cancelled). While Eggabell ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed, she’ll do the best to keep up with Liz as long the latter’s aircraft doesn’t let her down.

By the way, as a nod to the endgame, they’ll be known under the squadron name “Hydra Team”.

Alegander: Surprise, surprise! Considering his organization’s secrets were being revealed by the Journalist, the events have led him to snap to the point of becoming obsessed in taking down the latter (totally not a poor man’s equivalent of Project Wingman’s Crimson 1). In a similar vein to Anderi “Akula" Markov from AC: Assault Horizon (minus the game’s heavy scripting and plot armor), he’ll whip out a heavily refurbished SU-57 “Felon”. A cutting-edge stealth fighter which has excellent firepower, maneuverability, defense, speed and “quick maneuver air-to-air missiles” that will put a hell of a fight against any target. However, due to his age he can’t handle a such high amount of g-force while suffering from “greyout” when pushing his aircraft too hard.
