A/N: Alright, since the only thing I could find about the MC's name being is just Yuu, so I gave them a surname. It's 'Sei', which translates to 'Surname' from Japanese. That just made sense to me, I don't know why, but, whatever. Have fun reading this!

🪶 Nobody was believing the rumor that the headmaster was walking around with someone he was claiming to be his S/O of many years, instead, they believed he was paying someone to act in that role

🪶 Yuu was one of the few that had a hunch that this rumor was, in fact, true and that the headmaster they grew to had decent boundaries with did have an S/O

🪶 When the many words from the dorm leaders died down, the Prefect looked up and noticed that the doors were slowly opening, signalling the arrival of the headmaster

🪶 Normally, he didn't observe meetings, though, after the last few incidents in regards to overblots, he needed some background information so he knew what to tell the council

🪶 Just without, y'know, the overblots and all...

🪶 The housewardens sat straight as the headmaster's cheery tone entered their ears, alongside with the light chuckles of someone else

🪶 Yuu smiled and watched as Crowley walked inside alongside his apparent S/O, and they watched as Riddle politely rose his hand in order to ask a question the other dorm heads certainly were thinking

" Headmaster, many have been saying you were, in fact, paying this person to act in place of your fictional S/O. In order to... uhm... hide your loneliness? I suppose. Is that true? "

🪶 You smiled and covered your mouth to laugh, before walking over and behind your husband, grabbing his shoulders and kissing his head, as his hat was laying on his lap

" Allow me to answer for him, Rosehearts. I am his S/O, of around {#} years now, if I'm recalling correctly. And, with that information, I do hope you inform your students in your respective dorms that I am his real S/O and not some person he paid. "

🐾 You knew your husband's thoughts of the students he's been teaching for years, and most of them were how annoying they were getting

🐾 But, they had seemingly been getting better as the year continued, and, due to this, you wanted to meet some of those he deemed 'far less annoying and ignorant than others', such as this magic-less human

🐾 Wrapping your long overcoat tighter to your body, you sighed as the sound of the bell ringing entered your ears, making you sit straighter on the bench you were sat upon

🐾 Looking as the students flowed out of the doors to their respective ways home, you smiled gently as the sight of your husband's white and black hair entered your eyes

🐾 You noticed that a human was walking alongside him, they were smiling as they spoke, before looking up at you and pointing, grabbing Crewel's attention

🐾 The human ran up to you and held out a hand to you as your spouse walked in appose to their sprint

" I'm Yuu Sei! I'm gonna guess that you're Y/N Crewel! Professor's spouse, right? "

🐾 Smiling down at the young teen, you shook their hand, exchanging your name and looked up as your husband called your name before patting the prefect's head

" Yuu here came from another world, apparently, so, in order to do the 'nice thing of the year' you've got me hooked on, I have invited them to our home for Winter Break. I hope that is alright with you, my beloved. "

🏆 Walking out from behind the doors of the school, you stood in front of the boys in an outfit quite similar to your S/O, with a matching white shirt and a black and f/c striped jacket with long black pants and a nice pair of tennis shoes

🏆 He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and gave you a light side-hug, making the students chuckle at a young blue-haired, ginger-haired, and a young cat while one student just held the cat in their arms

🏆 Grabbing his whistle from his neck, he furrowed his eyebrows and blew air into the piece of metal and yelled at the boys to run 10 laps

🏆 You sighed and smiled, wrapping your left arm around his midsection as he gripped you tighter, the hug was sending a message to you, he understood how they were thinking

why shax misspelling toast actually makes so much sense and says a lot about this ridiculous language of ours

Yeah this is a post I'm making now, fight me. I was trying to explain spelling bees to @komorezuki and she mentioned the demonic misspellings being understandable now because English is, well, English (other languages do not have spelling bees, and now that I think about it, having international competitions where even native speakers are struggling to spell words is a wild concept).

And Shax is actually being so logical when spelling toast as t-o-s-t-e. Especially with the hesitant addition of the e. Here's why.

Because in English, often, the e is added at the end to elongate the vowel sound. This is probably best explained with examples.

Think about how you would have pronounced 'tast' out of context versus taste. The first one has an 'a' sound that resembles apple, right?

(Side note, the double consonant often performs the opposite function of the e, it shortens vowel sounds, like apple vs able. 'Abble' would have a short a and 'aple' would have a long a, which is why they're not spelt that way. Another example where both the e and the double consonant get illustrated perfectly is the word app verses the word ape.)

Also, ad verses -ade (like youtube ad vs lemonade). Right? So toste rather than tost. Shax was operating logically when she added the e.

Except well, English is a fuck-all free-for-all fuck-it-let's-ball language. If you squint at a section it makes sense and then you look at another section and it doesn't at all.

Like cost is short vowel, but coast makes it long, it isn't a 'coste'. So it's actually toast, rather than toste.

But also post doesn't need an e at the end and it's still a long vowel. Caste has an e at the end and is pronounced the same as cast, with the short vowel.

Yeeeeeeep.

🪶 The sound of birds chirping and leaves moving was something that Dire Crowley always heard as he walked around the now-empty Night Raven College

🪶 The year had finally ended, and the new first years were getting arranged to move into their dorms from wherever they were coming from. Meanwhile, their future Headmage was walking around with a sad expression

🪶 He tapped his shoe against the concrete sidewalk while his cane tapped against the ground in the opposite pattern. Click, Clack. Click, Clack.

🪶 Crowley looked up towards the starry sky and sighed, taking his hat off with his mask. This year was difficult to deal with... but everything else only made it harder for him to handle it

"Hey, Crowley! You heading home?" Crewel called out.

"Hm? Oh, yes! I shall soon! I'll close up the campus in a bit!" He answered.

"Alright. We'll see you next year." He said, walking towards the exit and towards his car.

🪶 Going back to his sad stance, looking at the sky, Crowley found his sight fogging up. A tear was preparing to fall from his cheek, how ironic! And as the tear fell down his cheek, he reached up and brushed it away, wetting the thumb of his glove in the process

"How funny. Me, Dire Crowley, Headmage of Night Raven College, crying in the empty courtyard. What a fall from grace."

🪶 Dire Crowley sighed before closing his eyes at the sky, wishing something in secret before walking away to go home for the vacation between years' ends and beginnings

🪶 As the new students approached the building, Crowley smiled from his office window. His hat rested in his hands, the materials gripped tightly between his fingers

🪶 He eventually snapped out of his daze and walked to his desk, sitting behind it with a plop and a normal sigh of coziness coming from the comfortable cushioning of said furniture

🪶 Crowley looked up from his hat and noticed a picture frame on the desk. His eyes slightly widened as he stared deeper at the image taken years ago

🪶 As he laid the top-hat on the table, Crowley reached over and grabbed the framed-photograph. He then turned the object over and began the process of taking the paper-copied image out of its beautifully-carved-in frame

🪶 The delicate material was taken in his hand while he laid the object's cage to the side, next to his hat's position

🪶 Once again he turned the thing around, being saddened once more as he saw the inhabitants of the image standing there, happy smiles planted on their faces as they used magic to conjure up fireworks for the other people surrounding them at that time

🪶 Crowley blinked sadly, tears welling up in his eyes once more as memories took over his mind. From walking around the campus for the first time as the other figure danced around with the leaves surrounding them follow them as if they controlled the wind itself

🪶 The man then began to recall the sound of a slow song mixed with a small laugh while twirling that same shadow around, their long white dress standing out against the moonlit field around them, while the many guests danced in the distance

🪶 Why did that have to be a memory and not something he could reenact right then and there?

"I love you, my dear." He promised that night.

"I love you just as much."

"Always?"

"I love you, always."

🪶 Smiling at the fond memory, Crowley folded the photo gently back into the frame and laid it back to where it once was, gaining the motivation that he needed

🪶 Standing up and putting his hat back on, he walked towards his door before turning around to look at the single carving in his desk. The smile then enlarged as he read it, outwardly pledging his own promise before walking out

hi, i saw your post about grigori angels and was wondering why this disproves the kokabiel and baraquiel!crowley theories? sorry if this has been asked before, or it's obvious!

hey anon, nothing to be sorry about!!

i wouldn't necessarily say the fact kokabiel and baraquiel are grigori disproves the theory, if only because we don't know how the grigori story fits into the good omens canon- and playing fast and loose with the bible stories is always an option so it's still a possibility, just an unlikely one if we follow the orginal biblical canon; as the grigori arrive much later on, and their 'fall' is not the same one as we see with 'lucifer's angels'

regardless, the grigori are fascinating to consider- especially in the gomens universe! they're unique amongst angels, and still vastly different from demons- the only ones who well and truly get humans

i'll start by quickly sharing the grigori lore, then bring it back to crowley

The Grigori

the grigori are detailed in the book of enoch, and their time is after eden, after the beginning. with sin now being an option for humans, the grigori were created and sent to earth to understand human behaviour

their name translates to 'the watchers'. an apt title for their role: watchers over humanity. the reason for this is debated, but fundamentally we come down to the important fact that the grigori, with their unique position as Watchers, understood humans better than any other angel- which was the whole point. why humans sinned, and how to influence them towards virtue and faith while still allowing humans to maintain their free will.

then, things began to change. the grigori started to interact with humans, taught us of technology and knowledge that we would soon discover ourselves. they later began to marry humans. they copulated with humans- from this, we had the nephilim. i don't need to reiterate how that particular tale ends. at least, not for the nephilim.

The Second Fall

here's the fun part. at least, in the context of talking about 'Fallen Angels'

in the eyes of god, the grigori had left their place of belonging, heaven, in favour of humans and earth. for this act, they were to fall.

except, the grigori didn't fall. at least, not in the sense we tend to define falling.

jude, verse six, outlines as much. 'and the angels that kept not with their first estate but left with their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of the great day'

it would be more accurate to say the grigori were cast out, that they are in 'time out'- for they were not stripped of their grace, nor did they fall to hell/become demons as lucifer's angels did. instead their punishment is to spend the rest of their years on earth, until the day of judgement. for all intents and purposes they are still angels, just not yet allowed back into heaven.

(when we consider that the grigori had already been living on earth, amongst humans, there's something to be said for wondering if this is really a punishment at all. god really fumbled the bag on that one, or maybe it was intentional. the grigori tale is full of interesting debates!)

from what i gathered, this event is [colloquially] referred to as 'the second fall'. it happens after the original fall, the better known one. a long time after- given the grigori are after eden.

the important takeaways about the grigori come down to this: they are unique amongst angels for understanding humans, they are the parents of the nephilim, and they 'fell' from heaven- but not in the same way

Fitting with Good Omens/Angel!Crowley theories

if we're following the biblical canon here, crowley couldn't have been kokabiel or baraqiel for they are both grigori. they didn't fall with lucifer, not as the-angel-that-crowley-was did. by the time of kokabiel and baraquiel, crowley the demon already existed.

the grigori came after the beginning, once humans had already left eden. their 'fall' is referred to as the 'second fall', nevermind the fact that they didn't really fall at all. the grigori aren't in hell, they aren't demons- they're still angels. contrastingly, crowley fell, and very much is a demon- he's part of the first [real] fall, one of lucifer's angels. let's also remember that a very important part of the grigori story is how they fell for, and into bed with, humans- and procreated with them. somehow, this isn't something i envision for the-angel-that-was-crowley

this said, crowley (and aziraphale) were definitely about on earth during the time this was happening. they witnessed the flood themselves (the incident designed for the purpose of destroying the nephilim, the offspring of grigori and humans), and i'm sure at least aziraphale would have heard about the 'second fall', if not also crowley along with the rest of hell (also, imagine how pissed you'd be if you took a million-light-year dive into sulphur, came out a demon of hell, only for these 'watcher angels' to also be called fallen, when all they did was get put in time out for several millenia. the unfairness has to sting)

i like to imagine crowley had a form of healthy tolerance-bordering-appreciation for grigori angels- they value humanity's free will, shared knowledge with humans that often centred on creative and technological developments, even when this meant punishment by god

what makes the grigori so interestingly unique is their understanding of humans and what may drive them to sin. it's a skill that even aziraphale, with his appreciation for humanity, hasn't quite grasped yet

i don't think we'll ever actually see the grigori in good omens, since they're not too widely known of, but they fit so perfect to the good omens theme of discussing human morality and behaviour that we see debated by crowley and aziraphale. they'd both have very different, very strong, feelings about the grigori and their fate- which is fun to think about

rewatch update: at the beginning of s1e3 is just the loveliest bunch ineffable husband flashbacks. I forgot chronologically they place them all in a wonderful half chunk. (I watch way too many edits/compilations to remember the order of the show) it's just millennia of the two of them working together and falling in love slowly. (and then they put the opening credits halfway through the episode haha) it really is the aziraphale & crowley falling in love show.
