Let's explore how to make healthy sweet corn, a version of the tasty, restaurant-style crispy corn. Instead of deep-frying as done in restaurants, we'll prepare this dish using less oil while maintaining a similar crispiness and taste, suitable for serving as a tea-time snack or a delightful treat for kids between meals.
Course: Appetizer, Snack
Cuisine: Indian
Keyword: Crispy Corn, healthy crispy corn
Ingredients
2 cups Sweet Corn
1 tbsp Rice Flour
2 tbsp Corn Flour
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/4 tsp Garlic Cloves (chopped)
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Oil
Instructions
To make healthy crispy corn, start with 2 cups of sweet corn. Begin by boiling the sweet corn.
Heat a pan and fill it with more than half its capacity with water.
As the water starts to simmer, add 2 cups of sweet corn.
The cooked sweet corn will float on the water; drain off the excess water.
Transfer the boiled sweet corn to a mixing bowl.
Add chili powder, salt, 1/2 tsp coriander seeds powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp chopped garlic, 1 tbsp rice flour, 2 tbsp corn flour, and 1 tsp lemon juice. Mix well.
Ensure the sweet corn is thoroughly coated with the flour and spices. If the mixture becomes too runny, add more flour.
Now, let's move on to the frying process. Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan and add about 1 tbsp oil.
Introduce the prepared sweet corn into the pan.
Cook on low flame while continuously stirring and mixing.
The sweet corn will take some time to become crispy since we're not deep-frying.
Continue stirring and cooking until the corn achieves a crispy texture.
Turn off the stove once the sweet corn turns crispy. Serve hot.
For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding chat masala or garam masala to the healthy crispy corn.

Into the Underground Part 3
It took a few minutes for Blaze to calm down from the fight, but once he did, he slowly got back to his feet, wiping tears out of his eyes.
“Alright, let’s get going…” Blaze sighed, walking into the room he’d been trying to get into before Penilla attacked. It was a small room, much smaller than the previous rooms, with just a lemonade stand. There was nobody at the stall, but there was a seemingly fresh bowl of lemonade sitting there.
“Nobody’s here…” Phantom murmured. Blaze frowned but didn’t say anything, just glancing at the sign.
“5g for a glass of lemonade.” Blaze read aloud, crossing his arms over his chest with a small huff of annoyance, “That seems cheap. Not that I know anything about monster economy…”
“Yeah, that’s cheap. Where I come from, it’d probably cost more like 20g.” Phantom explained, “But then again, who knows how long that’s been sitting there for. There’s not even anyone here to make sure you pay!”
“Guess you’re right.” Blaze remarked, glancing at the lemonade, grabbing a glass from the side and dipping it in the bowl, filling up the lemonade, “But I’ve been getting money from the fights right? It’d feel wrong not to pay.”
“Well, it’s up to you.” Phantom replied. Blaze hummed in response, pulling some gold out of his pocket. He wasn’t sure how he got it from the fights, but 5g was the majority of his money. Not that he particularly cared, he just put the 5g down on the counter, feeling proud of himself. With a light consciousness, he left the room and went the other way.
This room was definitely strange. It was completely empty, but it was a fairly big room with spikes on either side of the room. They didn’t block anything so Blaze just walked around the room, glancing around in confusion.
“This place is empty.” Blaze scoffed.
Out of nowhere, a giant piece of corn jumped in front of him. Blaze yelped in surprise, jumping back and staring at the monster. According to the menu, she was called Sweet Corn.
Unsure of what to do, Blaze pressed the act button, glancing at the option. He frowned in concern at the ‘lick’ option. He was almost definitely not about to lick a very clearly sentient being.
It took a second to decide what to do, but Blaze eventually chose to hug Sweet Corn. She got stuck to his shirt for a few seconds but Blaze still managed to pull away easily enough, just in time to see a piece of corn coming towards him. “I’m feelin’ the love!” Sweet Corn chirped. Blaze certainly wasn’t feeling any love.
Confused, he was quick to start trying to avoid it, only to quickly realise it was following him.
“A homing missile? You’ve got to be kidding!” Blaze snapped. Sprinting for his life, he tripped to the ground, hitting the ground pretty hard. Thankfully, Sweet Corn’s attack stopped as she stared at him, looking concerned.
Blaze didn’t say anything, just hit the spare button, so Sweet Corn hesitantly hopped away. Getting back up, Blaze noticed something on the ground where Sweet Corn had been a few seconds ago. A piece of candy corn.
“Oh, she left a gift…” Blaze muttered. He picked it up and put it in the bag he had brought with him. While he didn’t plan to be stuck down here, he had brought it to carry some food on his way up on the mountain.
“How sweet of her…” Phantom sighed.
Glancing at the two exits, Blaze decided to go to the one on the left. This one was even smaller than the lemonade room, with a bridge towards another part of the Ruins, but it was broken and there was no way across it. There were a few oddly-shaped pebbles, but other than that, the room was empty.
“Maybe you should pick those up. That way if we have to, we have something to use as a weapon.” Phantom remarked. Blaze frowned, not saying anything as he crouched down and picked the pebbles up, shoving them in his pockets.
Then he just turned around and went back out to the large empty room. He walked across the room without any more monsters attacking him. The next room was a pretty large one, and Blaze could see there was what used to be a bridge, which was now broken. Across from him, he saw the cloaked figure again.
With the only other exit blocked by spikes, Blaze rushed over to the broken bridge, standing on the edge and looking at the cloaked figure. He could hear them muttering to themself again.
“I enjoyed life before, I did… But I can’t go back… What happened that day would only repeat…” They muttered, before turning around and noticing Blaze, who was staring at them in confusion, “What is this? Why do they appear every time I start monologuing… I need more rest…”
“H-Hey! I promise I’m not a hallucination!” Blaze shouted, but it fell on a deaf ears as the cloaked figure rushed away. “Rude.”
“You’re probably freaking him out. You are a human after all.” Phantom huffed.
“Right…” Blaze sighed, turning around and pulling the lever. The spikes from earlier went back in so Blaze rushed over, crossing the spikes. Continuing further down the hallway, he could see a couple of pillars. One pillar had a drawing of a cat on it. “That’s a nice drawing…”
Before he could exit the room, however, another monster appeared. This one was much bigger than any of the previous monsters (other than Toriel and the cloaked figure), being a large mirror with a face and arms on its side. Rorrim, according to the menu.
“Do you think if I threw a rock at him the glass would shatter…?” Blaze muttered, narrowing his eyes, “I’m not gonna do it. That sounds mean.”
“...It would.” Phantom confirmed.
Blaze awkwardly smiled at that, which seemed to make Rorrim grin slightly.
“Smiles are never out of style!” Rorrim remarked, before starting to attack, making glass shards out of magic and shooting them towards Blaze. He yelped in surprise, barely managing to dodge it, but one did manage to scratch his cheek. The attacks stopped shortly after and Blaze forced a smile back on his face, glancing himself in the mirror.
“Ow… That’s gonna leave a mark…” Blaze groaned.
“You look perfect!” Rorrim remarked happily. Blaze gave him a cold glare. This time, he expected the shards of glass flying at him, so he managed to dodge them without being scratched again. When the attacks stopped, Blaze just spared Rorrim, trudging through to the next room.
While it was another hallway, this time it was significantly darker so Blaze had to stumble through the darkness blindly, careful to not fall off what felt like a ledge. He couldn’t see how big of a drop it was and he certainly didn’t want to find out. Still, he felt like he was being watched, making him nervously look around the room. It was too dark to see anything, but he felt a gust of wind blow towards him and a bat monster appeared, with two sets of wings. Decibat, according to the menu.
Processing what he was seeing, Blaze just stared at Decibat, completely silent. He seemed to like that.
“Don’t move. Don’t make a sound. Hush, hush!” the bat monster whispered, shooting sonic waves out of his mouth. There was no way to dodge them, so Blaze just stared, in shock as the attacks went right through him. To his surprise, he wasn’t injured by them.
“Blue attacks won’t hurt you if you don’t move. Orange attacks won’t hurt you if you’re moving when they hit you.” Phantom explained.
Blaze nodded, continuing to stare at Decibat in complete silence since it seemed to work last time. Decibat seemed to be even more pleased this time.
“Move in silence! Hush, hush!” Decibat whispered again. He shot more sonic waves from his mouth, this time orange ones. Blaze just ran right through them, coming out uninjured. Still, he couldn’t help but shake a little at the sensation.
Despite his discomfort, Blaze remained silent, not wanting to upset Decibat, since he seemed to appreciate the silence.
“More quiet please…” Decibat muttered, sounding rather relaxed. He shot more waves at Blaze, which were switching colours. The ones coming to him from the front were blue, while the ones coming to him from the sides were orange. They were definitely more difficult to dodge than the previous attacks, but Blaze barely managed. “You hear that? No? Good!”
At first, it seemed like Decibat wasn’t attacking, but Blaze quickly realised that magic stalagmites were breaking off the roof, crashing down towards him. Blaze narrowly avoided them, jumping back with a panicked gasp. He winced, glancing at Decibat, who didn’t seem bothered by the small noise.
“Sweet silence…” Decibat sighed, closing his eyes and seemingly falling asleep. Blaze spared him and the bat seemingly woke up. “I declare you an honorary sentinel of silence. I trust you to keep peace and order hear. I shall conquer new lands in the name of quiet. This is a very high honour so keep it hush hush.”
With that, Decibat flew off, leaving Blaze alone.
While the hallway was still dark, the rest of the journey through it was uninterrupted. When he left the hallway, everything suddenly became light again. Blaze narrowed his eyes, adjusting to the new light. The next room wasn’t too interesting, just another bridge over a fall even further down into the underground, so Blaze crossed it without much thought.
As he reached the end of the bridge, a loud yell made him jump, and he quickly realised a giant floating scroll with angry-looking eyes was right in front of him.
“OH FUCK-” Blaze yelled, scared.
“WAIT! DO YOU SPEAK FLUENT REFERENCE?” the monster, Crispy Scroll, asked, sounding excitedly. He seemed to think that Blaze had just joined in his excited yelling.
“Yes…?” Blaze muttered, unsure. He certainly didn’t expect Crispy Scroll to start shooting massive lasers at him, but he narrowly avoided them, hitting the ground hard when Crispy Scroll finally stopped shooting. Despite the fact that he was pretty sure he had hit his face hard enough to cause a nosebleed, Blaze stood and started screaming, this time to join in with Crispy Scroll.
“I CAN FEEL THE POWER COURSING THROUGH MY RIBBONS!” Crispy Scroll yelled. His next attack was easier to dodge, with him sending slashes of magic towards Blaze, he just had to move away as fast as possible and Crispy Scroll would completely miss. The attack didn’t last long and Blaze was quick to spare Crispy Scoll. The monster happily floated away.
Continuing further into the room, Blaze was certainly unhappy to see that the puzzle with the light and dark buttons from earlier was back, this time with even more cards. Groaning in annoyance, Blaze approached the cards. Thinking for a second, Blaze pressed the second on the bottom button, then the one next to it and finally the one diagonal to that, activating all the buttons.
“Good thing I played so many of those dumb games…” Blaze muttered, continuing forwards. He could see a gate out of the corner of his eye, but it looked tightly shut so he didn’t bother going that way. The next room was another hallway, but it seemed to be a dead end, with the bridge broken, preventing further access.
However, there was a poorly hidden hole, covered by a sheet that was painted to try and look like the wall. Blaze pulled it aside and went through the hole.
Just like the hallway Decibat was in, this room was incredibly dark. Blaze felt for a wall, carefully walking through the room, quickly finding there were two ways to go. Frowning, he decided to continue the way he was going, not wanting to risk getting lost in a dark maze he couldn’t properly see. Thankfully, it seemed like that was the right because Blaze could finally see a light.
Rushing towards it, he found himself in a large room, with a small pond in the middle and a staircase either side of the pond. Blaze could see the cloaked figure again, so slowly began approaching them, hoping to not scare them off this time.
“Hello?” Blaze asked quietly, making the cloaked figure spin around, jolting in fear. They started to step backwards, looking terrified.
“Umm… I don’t know who you are but I ask you… Please leave!” the cloaked figure.
“Wait, but I can’t!” Blaze shouted, watching as the cloaked figure tried to scramble away, “I can’t back the way I came, I just wanted to know if there was a way to get out!”
Barely paying attention to where he was going, Blaze paused when he realised there were large bodies of water either side of him. The cloaked figure had stopped, turning around to face him.
“You’re… still following me? I thought I made it clear that I wanted to be left alone.” they snapped.
“I’m sorry, but I want to get out, and this seems to be the only way I haven’t gone yet…” Blaze apologised, frowning.
“I don’t understand… You’re a human but you look nothing like them…” they muttered.
“What? Who’s ‘they’?” Blaze asked, frowning in confusion.
“And I was just starting to accept my reality. The cruelty… Nevermind, words aren’t enough. I… I don’t want to fight anybody but you’ve invaded my home. The exit is blocked and you can’t stay here. I will not allow it.” they muttered, pulling their hood down, revealing an anxious-looking monster with purple skin, darker purple hair and fangs. Blaze flinched. They looked so similar to…
“You…” Blaze growled, gripping the rocks in his pocket, “You’re just like my father.”
“Only one thing to do…” the vampire monster muttered, frowning at Blaze’s words, seemingly confused.
As soon as the fight started, Blaze chucked one of the pebbles he had picked up at the vampire monster, Dalv apparently.. It hit him in the face, making him cry out in surprise, stumbling back. He clearly hadn’t expected that but Blaze didn’t care.
“This would have been much easier for both of us if you could just leave the way you came, wouldn’t it?” Dalv sighed. He shot lightning at the ground, which made it so Blaze had to jump to the side.
Blaze threw another rock at Dalv, this time hitting him in the jaw. This time he didn’t cry out, clearly having expected it this time.
“Where did you come from anyway? There aren’t any accessible entrances…” Dalv muttered, looking down to the ground, before shaking his head before shooting at the ground again. Blaze once again jumped to the side, but he hadn’t expected a horizontal attack, so he got hit, sending him hard to the ground with a cry of pain.
Shaking, he tried to push himself to his feet, barely managing to get to them. Everything hurt.
“All I know is that somehow… You found me… Sorry to make things difficult, but I’m not cowering away this time.” Dalv sighed, closing his eyes for a second before opening them up to try and shoot orbs of lightning at Blaze. Trying to sidestep them, he quickly took one too many steps and fell straight into the water. Dalv seemed to be surprised, his attack ending prematurely.
He rushed over to the edge, staring at Blaze as he desperately tried to scramble up to the surface.
“...But you’re not them…” Dalv muttered, seeming to be considering something. Blaze just held on to the edge, trying to drag himself up but finding he didn’t have enough strength, “You know, despite whatever beliefs you have, us monsters aren’t evil… Monsterkind stands for hope, for good. Everyone here is only trying to find a little joy. I know I’m the one who got hostile first but…
He seemed to hesitate, before grabbing Blaze by the arm and pulling him. Blaze sat up, staring at Dalv in confusion.
“You’re not like them, I know that.” Dalv muttered, rubbing his cheek where Blaze had hit him with the pebble, “You aren’t really trying to hurt me, are you? This got out of hand. I apologise, I truly do. I… I don’t know how I can make this right.”
“He’s not like your father, Blaze.” Phantom sighed. Blaze stared down at the ground.
“I’m sorry for throwing those pebbles at you, it’s just…” Blaze trailed off, shaking his head before offering his hand out to Dalv. The vampire monster stared at his hand, seeming surprised.
“You want me to… shake your hand? Even after I wrongfully attacked you? But that is… that is a sign of friendship. You’re a human. Is that the same where you come from?” Dalv asked. Blaze didn’t say anything, just nodding his head. Dalv seemed to smile at that, “I didn’t ever expect to meet another human, let alone befriend them. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have a friend! I mean, I think… I don’t really remember what it entails. I guess I’ll give it a shot if you will.”
Blaze smiled slightly at that. Dalv gave him a small but genuine smile. Phantom was right, Blaze supposed, Dalv really was different from his father.

[ Original Twitter Thread by @/beelektra ] - Not by Magz, am not Palestinian
Palestinian Foods. (long post)
Quote:
"🧵 Thread of Palestinian desserts I've grown up around and seen A thing I'd like to add is that I just like to share my culture! I do not want to spread the narrative that our culture is dying, I only want people to see our foods and traditions 🇵🇸
"As mentioned in the last post, we have knafeh (or kunafa), a buttery dessert made with shredded pastry layers such as cheese and other ingredients like pistacho or cream!"
"Burbara; which comes from Saint Barbara, fun fact! It's a soup dessert that mainly consists of barley, licorice spices, anise, cinnamon, and fennel powder This is a dessert usually many Christian families have to celebrate Saint Barbara, which is December 4th!"
"Malban, which resembles a fruit jelly! Made from starch and sugar Specifically, it's made with grape molasses, thickened with starch and flavored with rose water, and stuffed with almonds (or other nuts including walnuts, treenuts, and peanuts)"
"Khabeesa is simply just a pudding made with grapes, but you prepare it by mixing the grape juice with semolina and nuts + seeds."
"Mtabbak or mtabba, a crispy dough stuffed with crushed walnuts. It also contains cinnamon, sugar, and syrup. Photo credits go to Bartek Kieżun on Instagram"
"Tamriyeh, a fried pastry filled with semolina pudding, scenter with mastic and orange blossom water, and topped off with powdered sugar"
"Ka'ak bi Tamer, which are date paste filled cookies with cinnamon! A dessert made for Eid-Alfitr. It's topped with nigella seeds, and the cinnamon-spiced date paste is the most important part of it all– you can eat it on its own or have it with coffee"
"+ Ka'ak Asawer, another dessert that can be prepared for Eid-Alfitr. It's translated to bracelet cookies, and they use date paste, flour, anise seeds, sugar, ground cinnamon, and olive oil"
"Muhallebi or mahalabia, a milk pudding that's made with sugar, corn starch, and fragrant flavorings! It's topped off with nuts, pistachos, and almonds and sprinkled with ground cinnamon or shredded coconut"
"Rice pudding, which is a common dessert in Palestine, and it's your choice to top it off with nuts or not"
"Stuffed dates, using medjool dates and cracking them open to be stuffed with goat cheese and pistachios– but you're free to add anything else"
"Ma'amoul, a buttery crisp cookie primarily made of farina and can be stuffed with (spiced) dates, walnuts, or pistachios. This is another Christian dessert made by Palestinian mothers during the week of Easter Sunday."
"Halawit Smid, a farina based dessert with added sugar and unsalted cheese. It's preferably served fresh"
"Namoura cake, aka harissa dessert! It's made with semolina or farina flour, and then topped off with syrup once baked"
"Qatayef, which is eaten during the month of Ramadan. It's made of farina, flour, water, and yeast blended together– the process is pretty similiar to making pancakes, but only one side is cooked"
"Since I've mentioned using zaatar for a lot of things, I recently just discovered this but– there's also things such as zaatar cookies!! It's just as implied that the cookies are filled with zaatar, I'd be so willing to make this on my own"
"Baklava, made from phyllo pastry dough, butter, nuts, basil, and a sweet honey syrup"
"Aish el saraya, arabic version of a bread pudding. It's basically a layered bread, where it starts from the bottom, then covered with a sweet syrup, cream, and crumbled pistachios."
"Awwami, it's defined as "crisp donut ball" in English. It's a deep fried dough ball coated with sesame seeds, and dipped in cold syrup water."
"Halawet el Jibn, a sweet cheese dessert rolled with custard, heavy cream, drizzled rose water + syrup, and garnished with nuts."
"Lastly, I'd like to add watermelon and cheese– for me, it's like,,,, bittersweet!!! You should totally try it and we also have this during Ramadan"
"Well, that's all I can think of for Palestinian desserts! Here's the first part for general foods, I know I did make a promise for part two
I hope you guys liked this thread, and if you have any opinions please feel free to quote tweet anything on here if I made a mistake, feel free to correct me, it's always appreciated P.S if you're a zionist commenting here I really don't care, just scroll, I'm sharing my culture
One LAST thing. if you want any of the recipes from here, check out this website, the creator (Wafa) shares so many wonderful traditional Palestinian dishes."

Hiiii friendssss! What the FUCK is up. What the fuck is up. What the Fuck is up. On todays cute little cookin excursion we are going to be deep frying things and using a wok. If you dont feel comfortable deep frying, and dont have a wok, im sure theres other ways to do it silly :DDD
I believe in you.
From LotR online we're gonna be making Fried Beetroot Sticks!!
(As always you can find the cooking instructions and full ingredient list under the break-)
MY NAMES CROSS NOW LETS COOK LIKE ANIMALS
SO, “what goes into Fried Beetroot Sticks?” YOU MIGHT ASKSlices of sweet little beated root dipped into a batter with, watch out, special flavors too.
2 Beetroots
Corn flour
Salt
Red Chilli Powder
Garlic Paste
Baking Soda
Water
Peanut oil
And we'll also be making some horseradish sour cream dip to go along with it;
Sour cream
Prepared horseradish
1 Green onion
Few splashes of lemon juice
Salt to taste
Ground pepper to taste
"Cooked, tender beetroot sticks are dredged in a light batter and fried to give a crispy exterior and a soft, sweet interior. Served with a bracing horseradish sour cream, this snack is both filling and delicious."- LotRO Tooltip
AND, “what does Fried Beetroot Sticks taste like?” YOU MIGHT ASKThis is like homemade fair-food and it sounds like a contradiction but its not
But maybe its just because its fried food? American brained, sorry.
Retains the inherit sweetness to beetroot
And similar to pickled beetroot the sweetness contrasts the spicey of the batter
(which i encourage you to amp up if youd like more spice)
The horseradish sourcream dip is to die for
Measure with your heart for that one, and save some green onion to top it with when you serve
This would pair very well with a lime italian soda or with shaved ice cones
Im always very anxious about deep-frying things, or working with oils at high temperatures, but i didnt run into any complications with this dish. Just make sure to keep best practices and safety precaution in mind, especially with a wok as it can tilt!
. If you dont have corn flour, you can substitute all-purpose flour . If you dont have peanut oil, look up oils with the same smokepoint to decide what else to use
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The recipe stuck out to me, as i was assembling a list of foodstuffs from tolkiens work, for being such a "regular" named food. Also its worth 19 silver 69 copper in the LotR MMO and im immature.
I think the dip has the most room for improvement and tinkering. I've never made horseradish sourcream before, so more practiced tastebuds could perfect a simple thing like this. In the future id also like to try adding red pepper flakes along with the the powder and garlic paste, to give more visual variety and spice. I think cumin in the batter would be a nice midtone flavor too.
I give this recipe a solid 8/10 (with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.) for its relative simplicity and modularity with things you could add.

Learning to Cook Like a Witch: Using the Scraps
Cooking can create a lot of waste. From peels and rinds to bones and leaves, people throw away quite a lot of scraps in the kitchen. And witches, as you may know, are experts in the art of the cunning use of whatever we’ve got around.
As a witch who spends a lot of time in the kitchen, I’ve had ample opportunities to get creative in my cooking craft. It helps that I grew up in a household defined by scarcity: not our own, by the time I was conscious enough to remember, but my parents’ poverty. It colored the way I learned to cook, using everything I possibly could, making enough to last, preserving what I didn’t immediately use, and creatively reusing leftovers and scraps.
There are some topics I won’t necessarily cover here. Composting is an option, but there are some bits of food scrap that don’t need to be composted — they can be saved and repurposed for all sorts of things, magic and mundane. Likewise, recycling, buying sustainably, and growing your own food when you can are all great options for reducing household waste in the kitchen.
For the purposes of this post, I want to focus specifically on food scraps. This is an organized list of kitchen scraps that I’ve used in a variety of other dishes and projects. I’m focusing primarily on food waste, not so much on packaging (such as reusing egg cartons, milk containers, boxes, and so forth).
Vegetable Scraps
Freeze leftover vegetable scraps to make stock. This is a fairly common bit of advice — save bits of leftover vegetables to make a vegetable stock or another kind of stock. It’s good advice! I keep a bag in my freezer that I put vegetable scraps in to save until I’m ready to make a new batch of stock. Not all veggies should be saved like this and used for stock! Some make stock bitter or otherwise unpleasant-tasting. Personally, I tend to freeze these for stock:
- The skins, ends, and leftover cuts of onions (just be wary of the skins; too much will make your broth bitter) - The ends of celery (not the leaves — they’re bitter!) - Corn cobs - Garlic skins, ends, tiny cloves that aren’t useful otherwise, and sprouted cloves - The ends of carrots (also not the leaves) - The ends of leeks - Pepper tops/bottoms (not the seeds)
I would recommend against putting things like potatoes, brussels sprouts, cabbage, and leafy greens in there. Potatoes don’t add flavor, sprouts and cabbage make the whole thing taste like those foods, and leafy greens end up bitter. If something has a strong, distinctive flavor (beets, sprouts), I wouldn’t add it to my freezer bag. These scraps often form the veggie portion of my Sick-Be-Gone Chicken Broth spell recipe!
Regrow leeks, green onions, and celery. Pop these in a bit of water and watch them grow back! It’s a fun experiment, and you’ll never have to buy them again.
Plant sprouted garlic. Aside from the fact that you can still cook and eat garlic that’s sprouted, you can plant a sprouted clove in a pot. Care for it well enough, and you’ll end up with a full head of garlic from that one clove!
Fry potato peels. Anytime I make mashed potatoes or peel potatoes for something, I always save the peels. Give them a thorough rinse and shallow-fry them in oil, turning them over until they’re golden and crispy. Toss them in a bit of salt and pepper while they’re still hot, and you’ve got tasty chips to snack on while you cook the rest of your meal! No need to cover them in more oil or anything — the heat will cause the salt to stick right to them.
Save leaves for pesto. Yum, yum, yum. Pesto isn’t just all about basil, you know. Save the leaves from carrots, beets, radishes, and even celery to grind up alongside basil, garlic, salt, and lemon juice for a delicious pesto recipe.
Fruit Scraps
Save citrus peels. Peels from oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and other citrus fruits have a multitude of uses. Candy them for a sweet treat, dry them to add to potpourri or incense, or save them to put into a simmer pot for bright, sunny energy.
Juice the whole fruit. Again, thinking mostly about citrus fruits, when you need the zest from something but not the rest, don’t just throw away the fruit. Squeeze out all the juice you can. Even if you don’t need it right now, you can freeze it to use later in simmer pots, fruity waters, or anything else that needs a touch of juice.
Turn extra fruit and berries into jam or syrup. If you’ve got berries and fruit that are about to go off, or maybe the ends of strawberries, don’t toss them! Look up recipes for jam of the specific fruit you’ve got or make an infused syrup. Syrups in particular can be used for cocktails, teas, and desserts for an extra magical kick.
Pickle watermelon rinds. That’s right. Pickle those suckers. They’re so tasty. I’ve seen people make kimchi with watermelon rinds, too, though I’ve never tried it myself!
Save seeds for abundance work. Seeds in general are great for spells geared toward long-term success, new beginnings, and — when there are a lot of them — wealth. Different fruit seeds have properties that tend to correspond with the fruit they come from, so consider their potential purposes before you just toss them! (Note also that some fruit seeds are toxic; these would be suitable for baneful workings.)
Keep cherry stems for love magic. Have you ever done that thing where you tie a cherry stem with your tongue? If I’m eating cherries, I like to save some of the stems for love workings. Tie them into little knots like you might with string while envisioning ensnaring the love you’re looking for. I wouldn’t do this with a particular person in mind; binding someone to you is almost never a good idea. I’ve used it to attract specific qualities in a person of romantic interest: attentiveness, humor, kindness, and so forth.
Use pits to represent blockages, barriers, and problems. I most often use them in baneful workings, typically jammed into a poppet’s mouth or throat to keep someone from talking shit. It could also represent a sense of dread in that way — a pit in the stomach, uneasy and nauseating. But you could also use them in the sense of removal, ritualistically removing the pit or problem from a given situation.
Herb Scraps
Freeze or dry extra fresh herbs. Different drying techniques are ideal for specific herbs. I’d suggest looking up recommended methods before sticking anything in the microwave. If you’d like to freeze your herbs instead, I typically will lay them on a damp paper towel, wrap them up, place them into a freezer-safe bag, and then put them in the freezer. Most herbs will keep for a couple months this way. When you want to use them, pull them out and let them defrost right on the counter.
Make pesto. Again, pesto isn’t just basil! Experiment with tossing in different scraps of herbs to find out what combination you like best.
Reuse steeped tea. Particularly when I use loose herbal tea, I like to lay out the used tea to dry out. It can be burned similarly to loose incense, though the scent may be somewhat weaker than with herbs that are fresher or unused. I find that it’s fine, since I’m sensitive to smells anyways.
Toss extra herbs into your stock freezer bag. Just like with vegetables, extra herbs make welcome additions to a scrap stock pot. I always make a point to save sage, thyme, marjoram, and ginger. You can add just about anything to a stock pot, but be aware of the flavors you’re adding. Not all herbs will match with all dishes.
Protein Scraps
Dry and crush empty egg shells. This is one most witches will know! I use crushed egg shells for protection magic most often: sprinkled at a doorstep mixed with other herbs, added to jars, and spread around spell candles.
Save shrimp, crab, and lobster shells. They’re a goldmine of flavor. Toss them into water with veggies and herbs, and you’ve got a delicious, easy shellfish stock. Use it to make fishy soups and chowders that much richer.
Don’t discard roasted chicken remains. Use them for stock, just like the shells. I like to get rotisserie chickens on occasion since they’re ready-made and very tasty. Once all the meat has been stripped off the bones, simmer the entire carcass with — you guessed it — veggies and herbs for a tasty chicken stock.
Reuse bacon grease for frying. After cooking bacon, don’t throw away the grease right away. Melt it over low heat, strain the bits of bacon out, and pour it into a jar to put in the fridge. You can use it to fry all sorts of things, but my favorite thing is brussels sprouts. They pick up the delicious, salty, bacony flavor from all that rendered bacon fat. So good.
Other Scraps
Use stale bread for croutons or bread crumbs. When I reach the stale end of a loaf of bread, as long as it isn’t moldy, I like to tear it into pieces and toss it into the oven for a little while. Let it cool and then pulse it in a food processor, and I’ve got delicious bread crumbs! Or, cut it a little more neatly, toss it in oil and seasonings, and then bake, and now I’ve got homemade croutons for salads. You can really hone your herbs for both of these, tuning them to be perfect for whatever spell needs you have.
Small amounts of leftover sugar. I don’t know why, but I always end up with a tiny amount of white and brown sugar in the containers. This can be used in teas, of course, but I like to offer it up to spirits. In particular, my ancestors tend to appreciate a spoonful of brown sugar stirred into a small, warmed cup of milk. You can also look up mug cake or single-serving cookie recipes; often, they’re cooked in the microwave, and they only need a little sugar to make!
Keep vanilla bean pods. Vanilla is fucking expensive. When I have a little extra and want to really splurge for a special occasion, I’ll get a couple pods. And because they’re so expensive, I hate wasting any part of them. They’re good for love magic, sure, but you can also toss the spent pods in a jar full of sugar to make vanilla-infused sugar. I’ll often use the pods to make infused milks, too; warm the milk over low heat, add the pods, and let it steep like tea. It goes great in teas and desserts. For a nice self-love spell, sometimes I’ll melt chocolate into the vanilla milk and make hot cocoa!
Save the rinds from Parmesan and Pecorino Romano cheese. You might not be able to just bite into these, but they’re fabulous additions to a stock pot. They add a rich, umami depth to the flavors. I also like to throw these into pots of tomato sauce to add even more flavor to the sauce.
Used coffee is still coffee. After I make a pot of coffee, I’ll sometimes save the grounds by letting them dry back out. I wouldn’t make another cup of coffee with them, since all the flavor’s gone, but they’ll still have attributes of energy generation and smell great. I like to pack used grounds into sachets to hang in places where I want to encourage more energy and focus, replaced every few days or so. Coffee grounds also have high amounts of nitrogen in them, which can help plants thrive; just be careful about pH values in the soil! You don’t want to hurt your plants with too much acidity.
Final Thoughts
I hope you found these tips helpful! There are a ton more ways to save and reuse kitchen scraps that would otherwise go to waste. Sometimes, tossing stuff into the compost or trash can’t be avoided. But I’ve found that being aware of the possibilities can help diminish the amount that gets wasted.

My answer was too long for the fried food post. I used to make grilled PB&J, just like you'd make a grilled cheese and my family always thought that was weird. I know, it's not deep fried, but I don't deep fry at home. Weirdest (and BEST) thing I've had was fried tacos, It was a very strange but awesome camping trip, where there was much weird food to be enjoyed. Anyhoo, they took a less sweet kind of donut dough, hollowed out a ball, filled it with meat, cheese and peppers if you wanted them, sealed the hole shut, rolled them in corn flour and dropped them into the kettle. They were served 3 to a bowl, with a scoop of salsa, guac, and/or sour cream. They'd sprinkle with cotija cheese at the end. We also had elote on the side, and hard cider. They took the last of the dough at the end of the meal and stuffed them with marshmallows and chocolate chips, and skipped the corn flour but I was too full of excellent tacos and elote to indulge. Man, the pandemic sucked in so many ways, but my camping group really came together in the spring of 21, and we've had so many awesome trips since then. And lots of deep fried tacos. The person who invented it is trying to do something with tamale batter to make them even more taco-y, but it's still a work in progress. The tamale batter is loose enough that it wants to fall apart in the fryer.
This was sent in response to my "What's the weirdest thing you've fried or weirdest fried thing you've eaten" post and I failed to respond in a timely fashion and was considering deleting it out of shame but then I read the recipe for FRIED TACOS and was like no. The world needs to know. My feelings are as nothing next to the glory of the fried taco.
I realize this is a lot of work for camping but if your friend is still looking for solutions to the tamale issue, I would suggest steaming the "taco balls" in tamale dough first, then cooling and frying -- the masa firms up a lot during the steaming process, and the amount of time it would take to get the exterior crispy and golden should be enough time to reheat the interior. (Or it might explode. Testing is needed.)
I might have to give this a shot -- I can think of a few dough recipes that would work, and I have some fajita seasoning that's going to go stale if I don't use it relatively soon. Hmmm.

MY RECIPES:
SWEET POTATO PIE
MAKES: 1 x 8-9” pie
INGREDIENTS
1 ½ lbs sweet potatoes (2-3 potatoes) (3 cups flesh), whole, to be roasted
1 x 12 oz can evaporated milk
1 cup (200g) dark brown sugar
2 eggs
5 Tbsp (70g) butter, melted
1 Tbsp lemon zest (zest of 1 lemon)
1 tsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp cinnamon
½ tsp kosher salt
½ tsp ginger
¼ tsp nutmeg
a few cracks (⅛ tsp) freshly ground black pepper
+
1 disc (½ recipe) All-Butter Pie Crust*
*I’ve posted my pie crust recipe on tumblr before tagged “recipes”
DIRECTIONS
1. Roast sweet potatoes: Preheat oven to 400°. Line a baking sheet with foil. Wash and scrub whole sweet potatoes. Pierce potatoes all over 3-5x with paring knife. Roast 45 minutes until fork tender. Let cool, then collect 3 cups flesh.
2. Prepare crust: Roll out pie dough (12-14” diameter circle, ¼” thick). Press into tin and crimp edges. Chill shaped shell in fridge or freezer until ready to use.
3. Preheat oven to 350°.
4. Make filling: Put all ingredients in food processor. Pulse 3-4x until smooth. (You can also use a blender, or simply beat ingredients until fully combined.)
5. Pour filling into pie shell.
6. Bake 45-60 minutes until puffed and firmly set (toothpick clean) everywhere except the very center, which should retain a very slight jiggle (but not look liquid). The center will set as it cools. Start checking at 45 minutes and continue baking at 5 minute intervals until set. (If crust gets too brown, shield edges with foil.)
7. Let cool completely before serving, at least 1 hour.
NOTES
Roast the potatoes whole, in the skins, so the sugars & starches properly caramelize. Do not steam or boil potatoes, even whole. They will take on water and make the filling soggy.
You can roast the potatoes up to 1 week in advance. Collect flesh day of.
PECAN PIE
MAKES: 1 x 8-9” pie
INGREDIENTS
2 cups (250g) chopped pecans
1 cup (200g) dark brown sugar
1 cup light or dark corn syrup
¼ cup (56g) butter
4 eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp cinnamon
+
1 disc (½ recipe) All-Butter Pie Crust
DIRECTIONS
1. Prepare shell: Roll out pie dough (12-14” diameter circle, ¼” thick), press into tin, crimp edges. Chill shaped shell in fridge or freezer until ready to use.
2. Preheat oven to 350°.
3. Cook sugar syrup: In a saucepan, bring sugar, corn syrup, and butter to boil over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, whisking constantly, to cook sugar. Take off heat. Let cool slightly, 3 minutes.
4. Temper eggs: In a bowl, beat eggs until lightened and frothy. Slowly, while whisking, pour ½ cup of warm syrup into eggs. Whisk to combine. Then, while whisking, slowly pour egg mixture back into the remaining syrup mixture. Whisk until smooth.
5. Whisk in vanilla, salt, and cinnamon.
6. Pour chopped pecans into bottom of pie shell. Pour filling over pecans.
7. Bake 45-60 minutes until fully set everywhere except the very center, which should retain a very slight jiggle. The center will set as it cools. Start checking at 45 minutes and continue baking at 5 minute intervals until set.
8. Let cool completely before serving, at least 1 hour.
NOTES
Many recipes do not require you to cook the sugar before baking the pie. However, pre-cooking the sugar (and tempering the eggs) ensures the ideal gooey, silky, perfectly smooth texture.
Toast pecans if desired: Arrange pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet and toast in preheated oven 5-8 minutes.

WE ALSO NEED AN EVERYTHING PIE COOKIE FIC FROM YOU RN ALSO!!
(PREFERABLY FLUFF)
(NO PRESSURE THO. MY CAPSLOCK IS JUST STUCK. ITS BROKEN.)
Believe me, I’ll take any excuse to simp over Everything Pie Cookie-
“Are you sure she’ll be okay? I could’ve went with Candy Corn Cookie if it helps your worries…”
“No, she’ll be alright. She can handle herself when she’s always so prepared, we shouldn’t spend all our time worryin’ about her. Let’s go bake a spectacular pie, ya sweetie pie.
“Well, now you’re just making me blush, Everything Pie Cookie. It’s settled, let’s get to baking!”
…
You two began with handling the crust of the pie. Although, the instructions were a bit…bizarre to say the least.
“Flour stored in a pot buried beneath the moonlight, butter churned on the night of the full moon…all these ingredients are so ridiculous! A pie’s a pie, no matter what you put in it!”
“These instructions are a little out of wack, but who’s to say we can’t think a little outside the box to make it tastier!”
“You’re right, sweetheart! It never hurts to get a little experimental to make something good out of something bland!”
She hands you a whisk as she slides in right next to you before the bowl.
“A couple brushed of my lucky ducky double-yolk egg wash before baking should make the crust extra crispy!”
The two of you got to work sifting the flour, cutting the butter into slices and tossing them in! Next was the milk to put into the mix, roll out the dough and pressing it into the pie pan.
“Y/N Cookie, sweetheart! You’re mixing it up so well, are you a baker too?”
“I do it sometimes as a hobby, I get visitors often, so it doesn’t hurt to make some treats for when they come by. The little ones seem to like my sweet treats a whole lot.”
“Ya know, Y/N Cookie. I figured ya to be the type to be great with the little ones, as if they were your own.
“It’s my duty to make sure they’re safe and okay under my watch. I’d lose my mind if they ever got hurt under my watch!”
“I care about the little ones too, it always makes me such a worrywart when they wander off like that.”
You place a hand on Everything Pie’s shoulder.
“Candy Corn Cookie will be alright, I know she wouldn’t put herself in danger, as much as I hate to leave her be. If she does need help, I’d be right over there in a second. Because seeing you worry is something I’d hate to see…”
“Do..you really mean that, sweetie pie…? Am I that important to ya?”
“Very much, Everything Pie Cookie…”
You stop your whisks to look at each other, Everything Pie’s eyeicings glisten from the light as she looked up at you.
The hand to her shoulder was now up to her cheek as she leaned her head to it a bit, as if she was savoring your touch, her own hands reaching up to gently hold it there.
The distance between the two of you felt shorter and shorter….
….
….
….
Until the telephone rang that snapped the two of you out of it.
“T-That’s probably Candy Corn Cookie. Let me just go..get that, sweetheart, sorry!”
“Y-yeah, we probably shouldn’t keep her waiting!”
Everything Pie Cookie hurriedly headed for the phone, flustered yet a tad disappointed.
You felt the same way, the weight of what just happened a second ago catching up with you as you held your head in a daze!
“But don’t let it stop us from next time~ I’ll be looking forward to it, sweetie~”
Everything Pie turned back for a moment to wink at you.
“N-next time?! Right…right! Of course!”
Nevermind, that disappointment just vanished!

What are the ROs' comfort foods?
Blade: there's a specific meal in Ygrath literally called "soldier's meal" that they would prepare both for the trainees in boot camp (or the Ket equivalent) and that mothers would traditionally prepare for their children when they returned home from war: it basically consists of grilled fish over rice, accompanied by sauteed dark mushrooms, a mountain herbal tea, salted cucumber and radish, and clear "earth-broth" with onions, mushrooms, grains of barley, and a miso-like paste. That's his comfort meal!
Trouble: his answer would be a nice steak, crispy potatoes cooked in duck fat, a beer, and a heaping bowl of honey pudding to follow, but I actually think his real comfort food is a sandwich. sometimes when he's upset, you can observe him going straight to the kitchen and eating his feelings with a massive sandwich. doesn't really matter what's in it, so long as it's on nice slabs of bread and has a bit of nice cheese, lettuce, and tomato!
Tallys: peya, the Elvish stuffed hand bread with nuts and cheese and wrapped in a leaf and drizzled with honey, is definitely one of her biggest comfort foods, but cheese in general is secretly a key ingredient for her too! She just likes nibbling on a little bit of cheese when she's anxious about something. Make her a cheese plate with some fruit and honey (though that part's optional) and she'll be happy!
Shery: definitely baked sweets! Everything she bakes for other people is her comfort food, lol. Sugar and flour and very soft, fluffy textures all the way baby! She tends to like strawberries and cream or angel food cake or fruit tart type sweets rather than really decadent chocolate or extravagant fudgey things, but she'll make whatever! Baking it is as much her comfort as eating it!
Riel: his are definitely sweets, too! Having a tray of little sweets (petit fours, little cookies, little bites of cheesecake) paired with extremely bitter khav or tea are divine ambrosia for him. It's extremely unhealthy but when he's at his peak workaholic stress, you'll often see him working at his desk with only a platter of sweets to graze on, it's so bad...
Chase: he doesn't really derive comfort from food... he has other vices... but if I had to guess, any kind of soup or chowder would inherently be comforting to him, especially since he had a lot of that growing up! He's particularly partial to a pumpkin-eel soup and corn and seafood chowder!
Red: I think he finds bread, particularly soft, slightly sweet bread, inherently comforting, and it's his go-to late-night snack when he's accidentally skipped dinner and doesn't want to fuss with a whole meal but has to eat something. Think of him walking around with half of a brioche roll in his mouth or something! Sticky buns and sweet milk bread was what was usually served for breakfast at the Circle, so it subconsciously brings him back to the days of being a student, having a routine, having the whole day to look forward to, etc.!
Ayla: most meals where there's too much to finish in one sitting are inherently comforting to her... she gets stressed about scarcity of food, so a big cauldron of vegetable soup (until that gets ruined, thanks Halek) or a big heaping pile of really anything where she can just mindlessly eat and process her feelings is comforting to her! This isn't quite a thing in Blest, but one of those huge grazing tables would be a delight for her!
Briony: with her amnesia, I don't think she's discovered yet what is a "comfort food" for her versus just foods she really really likes; she's more in a phase of life where she's trying as many new foods as possible rather than discerning which ones inspire particular emotions in her! I think she hasn't developed enough memories around food (which is sometimes what comfort food entails, that association to a particular experience or emotion) to gravitate towards a particular comfort food yet... but if I had to guess, I think she's drawn towards fried foods or little dumplings and tartlets, like a crab and cheese tartlet that's basically a crab rangoon or something like that! In a modern AU I could also see her being a big ice cream/milkshake/boba consumer!
Lavinet: she's not a big eater, so drinks are more comforting to her than food. When she's had a stressful day, she instinctively unwinds with a nice glass of wine, a cup of hot chocolate, a mug of warm tea, or what have you, rather than seeks out any particular meal or dish! She doesn't really have emotions around specific food like that!
Halek: he finds most foods he grew up with the opposite of comforting, as he thinks most Hunter food is bland and monotonous! (Not everything thinks that, he was just sick to death of growing up in the Reach and having the same-old same-old all the time.) His comfort food is some kind of cheesy pasta: it's simplistic in terms of his cooking aspirations, but there's just something about it that he finds inherently comforting! A nice gnocchi-style dish with a bunch of cheese sauce, toasted breadcrumbs, and broiled under an oven is his favorite!
Mimir: uncertainty
Caine: our boy loves cookies and fruit pies with a tall glass of milk!!
#Shepherds of Haven#comfort food#food#all characters#jk I think Shery's noticed that Mimir gravitates instinctively towards soup and hot drinks

Ever wondered how those instagram foodie account girls stay skinny even though they're eating 5 items from a different trendy restaurant every day?
You had idly wondered that, but most of all you just couldn't believe your luck when you finally sealed the deal with a cute and sweet rising star foodie.
The first time the two of you went out for a content shooting dinner, it was to a nice fusion sit down place. She told you she'd mostly just talk to her tripod. All you had to do was get some close up shots of crispy crusts and cheese pulls and then just not eat till she had all the footage she needed. Easy trade off for a free dinner with a beautiful girl!
When the waiter came around, she rattled off an order of two house cocktails, two apps, and three entrees, before turning to you and asking you to pick your favorite entree too. You obliged, ordering pineapple fried rice.
When the food came out, she started taking pictures and recording, and she was still working on the appetizers when the 4 big entrees came to the table. You did your best suppressing your hunger and helping her get the perfect shot of her sampling each dish. When she was done and told you to dig in, you both started devouring the still-warm food. But you had to state the obvious. "There's no way we can finish all this."
She waved you off. "We'll take the rest in to-go boxes. Not like it's going to waste."
Still, it seemed like a shame to not have the food hot and fresh out of the kitchen. She got full shortly, but you plugged on, finishing the entirety of the lettuce wraps and spring roll appetizers, both desserts she ordered, and the sweet and saucy pork adobo. It felt like you barely put a dent in the other dishes, so you got to go boxes.
As full as you felt leaving, the siren call of leftovers lured you to the fridge twice more that night.
~~~~~~~
And so it went, your girlfriend taking you to snack joints and restaurants to help film, and you doing your best to clean the plates after. You never truly could though, always bested by her choice of rich cuisines or gimmicky posts ranking every kind of cronut or rice dog a place offered.
Until you all went to a fancy prix fixe place she had fought to get reservations for. You each got five modest portions of perfectly cooked food and you cleaned yours up no problem. She had started to get winded by the meat course and only had half of her dessert.
"Finally a member of the clean plate club, huh?" she teased as she snapped a picture of the receipt.
"Well they give you those small fancy portions," you protested. "Two bites of quail. Two bites of steak. Three raviolis. Tastes good though."
She just laughed and gave you an affectionate pat on the tummy.
~~~~~~~
You did find yourself having to size up your clothes as the seasons changed, but again, you considered it a reasonable tradeoff for the pampered life you were now living.
"I hope you're ready for this," your girlfriend chided you on the way to the state fair in the summer. She was partnering with them for a series of 'everything I ate at the state fair' videos, which of course was actually going to be everything you ate.
You faithfully videoed her taking the first bite of what felt like a million little snacks, making sure to capture her reaction. Wide eyes at the cheese pull from a mozzarella stick, unimpressed at a dry turkey leg, laughing as she got a good angle to chomp down on tornado fries, smiling in pleasure at cherry topped funnel cake.
Soon as she was satisfied with the footage, she would pass the greasy treat off to you and drag you to the next line. You lost count of all the fair food you hurriedly plowed through that day, the hand dipped corn dogs, berry shortcakes, bbq sandwiches, and fried oreos.
The shoot ended with you finishing off a huge fresh squeezed cold lemonade she had taken one (1) sip of. It was the only thing you had room for, and you felt it filling in the gaps in your already food-stuffed gut. You waddled after her to the petting zoo, where she wanted to treat herself to some baby animal cuddles as a reward for getting all the footage and b-roll she needed before sundown.
Before you sat on the bench outside for a breather, you noticed your stuffed belly peeking out of your shirt. Sure you just ate nearly everything the fair had to offer, but this was a new XXL shirt! You glanced at her inside the pen, scratching a piglet behind the ears.
"The pigs are my favorite."
"Yeah, I bet."
~~~~~~~
You went ahead and bought new shirts and pants again. As time passed you got better at eating as much of your girlfriend's orders as possible in one sitting. You especially looked forward to when she did collab videos with her friends. They'd reserve a long table and it would be laden with over a dozen meals. You got to try everything, eat as much as you wanted of your favorites, and there would still be leftovers.
One night before going out to film at a sushi restaurant, she warned you, "this is a hand roll place and i booked us the omakase menu, it's $250 for 6 small bites."
You helped her get pics and enjoyed the delicious savory raw seafood, but she caught the downcast look on your face and the hand on your belly after you left.
"Don't tell me you're still hungry?"
"You aren't?"
"No, I actually finished every course. Even the miso soup."
"Well I'm used to cleaning up after you don't finish every course!" You wrapped your arms around her, and pulled her in close to whisper in her ear. "You always pick where we go, can I choose somewhere just this once?"
"Let me guess," she said as she leaned into your soft belly. "You want to stop at mcdonalds?"
So the two of you stopped at the drive thru, chatting and laughing in the car as you worked your way through a big bag of burgers and fries.
~~~~~~~
You continued to feel grateful for this lifestyle, but you were especially excited when your girlfriend told you she booked a reservation at Pina's Table, a new Italian restaurant that was already getting lots of buzz on the socials.
When you arrived for your reservation, both in nicer clothes for the opening weekend, you were shown to a intimate booth near the back. You felt a little nervous sliding in, as you could just barely fit. But before long you were more focused on the menu. After she ordered her usual sampler spread of two apps, two cocktails and three entrees, the waiter turned to you for your selection, and you decided to be bolder today.
"How about the chicken marsala. And the baked ziti."
Both of your selections looked so good when they arrived, you could barely stop drooling while filming her slicing open a burrata and tasting the spaghetti all'amatriciana. It felt like a million years passed before she gave you the OK to dig in.
You started off sampling a little bit of everything, and it was of course just as good as expected. You were enjoying a mouthful of ziti when the flash from her phone went off. Startled, you looked up. Had she forgotten to get a picture of something?
"Sorry," she blushed, putting her phone back down. "You're enjoying yourself so much, I just wanted to save it to remember."
You laughed. "If that's good, just wait till after I'm done."
You dug into the warm food, savoring the light burrata and tomato salad and the heavier mushroom ravioli and amatriciana. You ate with relish for what seemed like ages until you started to feel the table pushing into your swollen stomach.
Exhausted, you leaned back, against the soft booth, your fullness finally catching up to you. You subtly opened the top button of your pants, letting your belly flow out to bump the table again. There was still so much of each entree left....
You were spared from the eternal dilemma by the chef, a young and energetic guy, coming to the table to drop off a sampling of cannoli and gelato. Your girlfriend jumped up excitedly to shake his hand and take selfies, and passed the phone to you to you could take a couple pictures of them... after you struggled to haul yourself to your feet.
"Thank you so much for helping get the word out," she chef thanked her profusely. "Pina's Table is my baby. I'm thrilled how many people turned out for it."
"Thank you so much for inviting us!" Your girlfriend chirped in reply. "Everything was delicious."
"I'm thrilled you enjoyed it! It's a labor of love." The chef clapped her on the shoulder before turning to you. "And of course your seal approval means just as much too! Seems like you enjoyed, huh?" He gave your belly a playful poke.
"I wouldn't be where I am now without the belly behind the account," your girlfriend agreed, reaching over to give your tummy another squeeze, jostling out a small burp.
The pair of them shared another laugh and selfie before the chef left to go gladhand some other tables.
"Should we get the to-go boxes?" she asked, patting you gently on the butt as you squeezed yourself back into the booth.
"I think I have a little room left."
You pulled the plate of ravioli in front of you and started working on it again as she took a short video of the desserts.
'The belly behind the account,' huh? You could get used to that.

I made shrimp in black bean sauce!!! 😋 the pungent, deep flavor of the fermented bean paste makes this dish phenomenal. The umami is undeniably present. The fresh vegetables give it a crisp sweetness that pairs perfectly with the black bean sauce. I fried the shrimp after coating them in corn starch so they were light and crispy. The combination was delightful 😊. I served it on a bed of rice to balance the depth of flavor in the sauce. It was delicious 😋 😍 I've never made this before, but it was easy to do. Everyone should cook their own food because it gives you a very joyful satisfaction and great food. When I make my own food, I can control the amount of salt and ingredients to make it just the way I want it to be. This time, I added more onions, carrots and green peas to the dish because that's how I like it. I use recipes as guidelines, but I always add my own style and flavors to everything that I cook. In this way, I make the dish my own, and in my opinion, it tastes much better. It saves sooooooo much money, too. It's a great experience. This dish was better than the food that I get in Chinese restaurants, and it was a quarter of the price. In the words of Julia Child, bon Appétit! Food is love, and I love to cook. Make enough to share the love ❤️ 😍 😋😋😊

Let's see what Clover did (yeah i had to play the whole game again):
Decided to find out what happened to the five missing children and bring them home to the surface
Complimented Froggit
Comforted Flier
Distracted Penilla from drawing so she could take a break
Left the exact amount of money on the lemonade stand despite there being no attendance to take it
Gave Sweet Corn a hug
Helped Rorrim fulfill his purpose (make others not criticize how they look)
Respected Decibat's need for silence
Joined Crispy Scroll's excited yelling over anime so he wouldn't feel lonely
Complimented Micro Froggit
Played count the dust with the dust bunny monster
Didn't disturb Decibat while he was asleep
Even when helpless and wrongfully attacked, decided to befriend Dalv, thus causing him to give up on his lonely lifestyle and start making friends
Because the monsters in the Ruins finally got to go outside, all this happened: 1) Sweet Corn got to open a free hugs booth 2) Penilla got to draw things outside of the Ruins, see the big corn cob picture she made for Dalv, and realize that she and Dalv ARE friends 3) Crispy Scroll got to go to the dump and find more anime tapes 4) Flier could learn new dance moves and (maybe) buy a beach house 5) Rorrim could go on adventures
Took their time to get to know Dalv and explore his house
Didn't invade Pops' privacy and waved at him before closing the wardrobe
Danced with Frostermit and got it out of its shell (literally and metaphorically)
Put Insomnitot to sleep
Ended up buying Mo's poor quality products because they knew he was struggling financially x1
Patiently explained the dangers of an open fire to Know Cone
Believed that the remnants of the snowman were full of potential for new life
Played a game with the Shufflers and became their friend
Got the Honeydew Resort band to play that furry monster's favorite song
Found one monster's mitten
Got another monster a coffee and matches so they wouldn't freeze
Found a map for the lost tourists
Freed Slurpy from the pole
Spent time chatting with the Honeydew Resort shopkeeper and learned more about Dalv, who ended up fulfilling his dream of having an organ concert in the end credits
Got Trihecta to split up and literally and metaphorically get off each other's backs so all three could be who they wanted to be individually
Begrudgingly insulted Martlet so they could spare her
Forgave Martlet for fighting them and trusted her to keep them safe
Gave Martlet the highest scores on her questionnaire
Pat Dunebud
Ended up buying Mo's poor quality products because they knew he was struggling financially x2
Made Cactony feel love for the first time
Fixed the elevator in the mines
Helped Bowll put his guard down and discover his true self
Found the mine worker's hat, causing him to get a promotion in the end credits
Did their best to dance with El Bailador despite being bad at it
Sat next to Kanako's friend on the swing
Told Violetta she had nothing to fear
Forgave Martlet for abandoning them
Saw potential in the sapling to grow into something beautiful
Hung out with Starlo and the Feisty Five despite the gang kidnapping them
Was worried about what was bothering Ceroba while she was checking out Starlo's movies that Kanako used to watch with him
Proved to Blackjack that humans can be good
Didn't attack the FF even though they unfairly ganged up on them
Even though they were unfairly attacked by Starlo, they surrendered to him
Didn't make fun of Starlo's true face
Didn't get upset with Martlet for yet again abandoning them
Cleaned Jandroid
Helped Goosic produce music that's actually pleasant to listen to
Ended up buying Mo's poor quality products because they knew he was struggling financially x3
Calmed Guardener down to the point she stopped attacking them and Ceroba
Helped Telly-Vis work together
Calmed Ceroba down while she was yelling at the Steamworks robot
Spared Axis, knowing that he was the last thing left of Chujin, and trusted Ceroba with her plan
Overall took their time to talk to everyone they met so they could understand their situation
Changed Martlet's entire perspective on humans
Tried to understand the deeper reason as to why Ceroba was doing what she was doing, hugged her and forgave her
Decided not to hide underground and willingly sacrificed their SOUL for monsterkind even after being hurt, attacked, and killed so many times (also during the 100+ runs)
Knew the sacrifice might mean nothing but went along with their decision anyway and put faith in whoever would come after them
Waited for their friends to leave before they died, in a lot of pain
Before that reassured Ceroba they'd be okay so she'd be at least a bit comforted
Delivered true JUSTICE
