My Empire of Dirt —Astos from FF

Astos from the game Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin by Team Ninja, Koei and Square enix.

I love playing FF’s Dissidia Opera Omnia game and Astos just debuted. He’s hype because of his ridiculous amount of damage output. I was intrigued by his chapter story— loved his creepy theme music— and so decided to read about his character and game.

Talk about tragic 😭 the flashback after his battle was emotional and sad... even to someone who hadn’t played the game. So naturally I really like him lol 😂

I think I said this last year too but I’m so glad Elf on the Shelf wasn’t a thing when I was a kid. I was 100% fully convinced that Santa could just spy on me whenever he wanted through a crystal ball or something. He didn’t need to have a little snitch sneaking around my house at night to tell him if I was bad or good, he just knew. 😤

I do love how Spotify Wrapped pinpointed the exact moment I became obsessed with writing the Treebark folie à deux in the doomed space colony AU as being heavily influenced by Ren's brain being suddenly forced to absorb enormous amounts of human knowledge about myth and culture and getting stuck on the (dubiously historical) concept of the sacrificial king, because it's like "boy, you REALLY liked Steeleye Span this year! specifically at this point in time! huh!"

Concept I love: elves actually look just like humans, have no pointed ears or anything of this sort. Just beautiful humans, not necessarily in a super conventional way.

Until you look into their eyes - then your instinct kicks in and tells you they're not human. You can't tell what to look for in the eyes of an elf, but you know that instinct never fails.

high level dungeon, low level elves

been trying to keep up drawing more dynamic poses and layouts with story behind them. i wanted to spend longer on this and detail it more but im happy enough with it i think

In honour of my Legolas post getting 5,000 notes, I have more weird Legolas for you. This elf sleeps with his eyes open. He can speak more than one language, so he's weird in more than one language. He SHOOTS DOWN A NAZGUL just on a whim in the dark because he saw it, Let's not forget "oh, yeah I went to fetch the sun and she was chilling in a field so I've come back to watch you struggle". In the films it always confused me that Legolas is at the front with Gandalf in the mines of Moria until I realised that he can actually see in the dark so it's beneficial for him to be there, looking into the distance with his freak eyes (affectionate).

i do rly love dungeon meshi so far and i do see that the mangaka is trying to rehabilitate the dnd tropes and make them more thoughtful and less racist and this is not so much a judgement, more an observation, but the dnd tropes originally are so racist that i kinda wish that the mangaka was completely inventing her own worldbuilding instead of building off of them. like maybe at some point we should as a society move away from and throw away dnd tropes in the trashcan where they belong, just a thought you know.
