First of all... Context: Here in my country we celebrate on April 23rd Saint George's day (or Sant Jordi)...

The legend of Saint George, tells the story of a brave knight named George who saved a princess from being devoured by a dragon. In a kingdom plagued by fear of the dragon, which demanded human sacrifices, George courageously confronted the beast. After a fierce battle, he defeated the dragon by plunging his sword into its heart, freeing the kingdom from the threat of further sacrifices.

Legend has it that from the dragon's blood sprouted a rose. George then took this rose and presented it to the princess as a symbol of his bravery and love.

For this reason every April 23rd, people gifts roses and books to friends, family, someone you love basically.

Nowadays there are different versions of the same history, for example, the dragon being friendly (the version I used in this drawing) or the princess being the knight.

Behold this cryptid I spotted in a thrift store window on a late evening walk. Imagine, if you will, glancing up from the path to see this hulking form, the dead duck eyes, the human mouth lurking beneath the solemn beak. The too long, limp arms. It looms over all the other displays. Watching. Waiting. Patient.

My husband wishes to purchase this monstrosity. Please help me convince him that no good can come of this transaction. Whatever this thing is, it certainly isn't a mere Halloween costume.

What do you think? Is it a feathered pelt of a selkie-esque creature that curses whoever owns it to be forever hunted by the monster it belongs to? An eldritch being with anger issues? A haunted husk of an old animatronic? Slenderman's fowl cousin? An SCP?

A dark, disturbing metaphor for rampant consumerism and monopolies under capitalism?
