rewatching origins(well the whole show now that i have access to it again) and omg. omg omg it’s so easy to forget that marinette doesn’t have some celebrity crush on adrien, her stalking tendencies are excruciatingly exaggerated for the sake of “comedy”. but she got a crush on him after he apologized for a misunderstanding, gave her his umbrella, and laughed. and she loved his laugh. ugh what a wonderful scene it almost makes me love adrienette.

Okay, okay, hear me out:
Spy x Family AU, except Marinette is Loid & Adrien is Yor.
Marinette & Loid both have this alternate self that is very calculative & has the urge to plan out every possible outcome of a situation so they're not caught off guard. Not to mention that both of them have this very strong sense of justice and, each in their own way, are trying to make the world around them a better & safer place. However, both of them also have this other side that is gentle and kind and, essentially, a softy (though this shows more in Marinette bc, well, she hasn't been through the things Loid has been).
Then we have Adrien, who, like Yor, is outwardly sweet & cheerful and doesn't have a clue what to do with Life (TM). But he also has a dark & deadly side, which makes him absolutely consider dirtying his hands if he thought he was protecting the ppl he loves (*cough* derrision *cough*). I can totally see him become an assassin if it was the only thing he could do to protect his loved ones & bring food to the table, esp if he was taught to do that from a young age.
Also, some of my other headcanons for this AU (and pls beware of possible spoilers for sxf if u aren't caught up or want to watch):
- Emma would be Anya, obv, and like Anya, she has telepathic powers and can read her parents' minds. (Side note: I was considering making Emma a creation of the peacock miraculous & for that to be the reason she has her telepathy powers, but then I realized the miraculous existing in this AU might not make much sense, so I'm putting it on the backburner. If anybody wants to explore that, though, be my guest!)
- The plushy u see in Emma's hands in my drawing is Tikki, which is the equivalent of Mr. Chimera in the anime (however, alternatively, The Handler could be Tikki & in turn, The Shopkeeper could be Plagg. But going with my initial idea...)
- The cat in the picture, then, would be Plagg, who is the equivalent of Bond. However, unlike Bond, Plagg is a little shit & he knows it & therefore gives Marinette a lot of grief. But he's very cute when he wants to be, and Emma is very set on keeping him, so Marinette resorts to silent psychological warfare with him. Surprisingly, Plagg is pretty chill when it comes to Adrien to everyone's surprise.
- Just like Bond, Plagg also has psychic powers. However, I can just see him hissing in annoyance everytime a vision pops up. :D
- Adrien is secretly an assassin who exterminates traitors with his special dagger(s) that he calls 'Cataclysm'.
- Marinette is a spy who is tasked with getting close to her target, Chloe Bourgeois. She has a customized gun that she prefers to use that she calls her 'lucky charm'.
- Also, the same as the anime, Marinette's agent name is 'Ladybug' & Adrien's is 'Chat Noir'.
- Chloe is Marinette's target (I know Desmond & Gabriel are crazy similar, but I think it'd be pretty weird to have Gabe & Adrien in the same universe & for them to not be related).
- Chloe has 2 children: a twin son & daughter who r attending the same prestigious school. The daughter (which I haven't chosen a name for) is the equivalent of Becky & the son (which I also don't know the name of) is the equivalent of Damian.
- Chloe's daughter lives with her father (who I imagine is Luka bc it's a guilty ship of mine, but eh), but she also pays for her child support and education, so her daughter was raised like a princess and therefore has the same princess tendencies as Becky.
- Chloe's son is still pretty much the same as Damian, so not much to add there. (Yes, exactly like Damian. If you know, you know :) )
- Lastly, I will leave you with this out of pocket notion: Felix as Yuri and Kagami as Fiona (and yes, I very much ship them, even in this AU :) )
Here are the individual characters separately as a treat for making it till here!

My issue with derision and how it deals with Marinette’s problematic behaviour.
Disclaimer before I make this post that I’m not an avid miraculous fan, so if I get things wrong feel free to correct me.
I used to watch it a lot as a kid but I’m not so into it now. The reason I’m making this post is because recently my little sister came over to visit me and she loves the series half to death. I decided to sit down and watch it with her just for fun, and long story short my ADHD hyper fixation kicked in and I ended up binging 2 whole seasons.
And OML the only thing that did was remind me why I stopped watching the show in the first place
As a kid I never liked Marinette’s character. That was more of a me problem though since back in season 1 there wasn’t really too much wrong with her, I was just having my whole ‘I hate girly things phase’ so I didn’t like her.
However When season 3 came out she was firmly cemented as my least favourite character. I didn’t like her weird, creepy behaviour as well as the fact that the writers didn’t really give her any flaws, or at least none that really effected the plot.
I think the thing that made me the angriest was the fact that no one seemed to address it. The writers didn’t seem to care, everyone in the show applauded and even encouraged her behaviour and everyone in the fandom seemed to love Adrienette. I couldn’t find anyone mentioning the fact that the girl literally broke into his house and it pissed me off to no end.
As it turns out though I wasn’t the only one offset by her behaviour as in one of the recent episodes ‘Derision’ the writers finally decided to address the huge distaste with Marinette’s actions.
Of course this show being what it is means that Marinette can’t have a single flaw, so instead of doing what I thought was the logical thing and having an episode where the staking is seen and addressed as a bad thing and Marinette takes measures to fix and develop herself the writers decide to just excuse it all by saying she was traumatised.
I hated the way they dealt with this.
First of all the writing was just lazy.
Her being suddenly traumatised by Kim despite having absolutely no issues with him anywhere else in the show? I thought that was stupid and not well thought out since this whole bit is just the writes slapping a bandaid solution on fans complaints. Also I’m vaguely certain that Kim has a canonical fear of spiders so why is he using them to prank Marinette of all people with?
Second of all it doesn’t do a good job of explaining why she was a stalker.
In the episode she says that it was because Kim broke her trust so she now refuses to get into a relationship with someone without knowing everything about them.
This is supposed to explain her weird behaviour towards Adrien but it doesn’t simply because this is shown to only be a problem with him.
It’s not like we catch her breaking into Luka’s house on multiple occasions so she can go through his things and sniff his pillow. Nor does she seem to care about finding out anything and everything about Cat Noir. I’m fine with this being the case when she’s ladybug since she doesn’t really show any romantic appeal towards him but as Marinette?
The show establishes that she has at minimum a crush on him and that’s all it took for her to start going after Adrien, and maybe you could say that she doesn’t have the means to stalk Cat Noir since she’s a civilian but we’ve seen repeatedly that she’s not above abusing her own superpowers to do so with Adrien.
Even the argument that she wants to protect secret identities is useless when you watch Ephemeral and see that she was completely on board with manipulating Cat Noir so she could expose his identity to a person without his consent.
I think the worst part for me however, is the fact that I could look past all the lazy writing and the pathetic excuses used to justify her actions if she’d done the bare minimum by apologising to Adrien.
Admitting to him what she’d done and telling him she was sorry. I would’ve liked it if the writers didn’t have Adrien forgive her (at least not right away) but I know they don’t have the capacity to have Marinette be genuinely in the wrong for anything so I would have settled for just an apology instead.
But they can’t even do that! All that happens is that Marinette promises to herself that she won’t do it anymore and as usual Adrien is left none the wiser.
Even though I’ve only recently gotten back into the show this episode along with Kuro Neko and the season 5 finale have shown me that I genuinely can’t ship Adrienette in good conscience anymore.
Marinette just lies to him about too much important stuff. It’s so unfair to him that he’s constantly kept out of the loop about things in his life that directly involve him and the people who do this face absolutely no consequences.
Heck even Gabriel got his happily ever after by bringing his wife back meanwhile Adrien is living a complete lie as the people he cares about reassure him that everything’s fine when it really, really isn’t.
I’ve seen people act like this episode somehow provides a good excuse to Marinette’s actions but barely anything is done in terms of character development so I have to disagree with them.
Anyway thanks for comin to my tedtalk if you want to argue with me in the comments please be respectful about it.

Don't say I'm biased against Feligami because I'm a hardcore Felila shipper cuz I ship Chloélila too or whatever their ship name could be idk (I'm bad at ship names I couldn't even think of Ikarimoth myself I take no credit for that ship name) they just work but Feligami doesn't cuz it's out of character that's why I don't like it and also it gets creepier the more I think about it

What do you think of salt fics?
I used to read them a lot (Adrien, Alya, Lila, and Bustier to be specific, that influence can be seen on the first version of MD where there was a lot of salt). They're fine, some of them take it too far, like making Alya and the class be very aggressive, I read one salt fic where they literally murdered Marinette. But that is fine I guess. If I don't like stuff I just stop reading it, everyone likes something different (it also depends on what you see as salt). I just don't like when they completely demonize the characters.

the reason mari and adrien never share their identities ( until after the hawk moth ordeal ) despite never seemingly told they're not allowed to... is because they're both still hiding to a degree. they both find a sense of freedom in themselves when they have on the masks, and i think the idea of taking them off is scary. marinette's fear is of losing her growing confidence... and of being seen as a nobody. ladybug is strong, almost cocky. she saves the world, she's tough and doesn't hesitate... but marinette is still figuring things out, still trying to place herself in the world. and when she finally thinks she has it together and gets herself to ask adrien to the ball, she's shot down. she got too focused on believing that that moment would define her, now she has to realize she needs to define herself. she has to evaluate her feelings on adrien, on cat noir, and on her dreams... because she was hinging was too much on a love story that didn't come true. so much so that she might have pushed away someone who did love her and that she was feeling herself drawn to in return... and realizing adrien and cat are the same person actually causes her to see her hyperfixation was taking away from her personal growth and from truly seeing the person she was in love with... what he needed and wanted. because adrien was hiding more so than her. marinette grew in her personal life from being ladybug but we don't really see adrien adapt cat noir into his persona life too much. if anything, he actually separates himself between the two more and more as the story goes on. adrien struggles with believing he can be happy again as himself and uses cat as his way to unleash from being the boy the world expects of him. so neither of them tell because they don't want to break their own charades and chances. and it's for the best, because marinette seeing adrien/cat broken at the sight of his father helps keep her from falling for cat seemingly only because he is adrien. she realizes the love she has for who he actually is. a boy just trying to figure himself out just as she was trying to learn about herself. and so when she confesses, adrien has not just a fangirl in love with him, he has marinette being fully whole, which would be a far better support system than if they had found out earlier.

Okay. Once again interacting with miraculous ladybug.
Lord help me 😭😭
But unfortunately I wound up watching the statue episode. I can’t remember the name, but I know everyone who has even a semblance of knowledge about miraculous ladybugs knows what I’m talking about.
Genuinely I got so baffled about the whole sub conflict of that episode.
Basic synopsis is that Mary sue and Adrien head to this wax statue museum because babysitting? And it turns out they have a statue of him (which is also strange, like he clearly didn’t know about it beforehand) so he decides it would be funny to replace the wax statute version of himself to prank Marinette.
Marinette comes in. Is sufficiently fooled and then starts acting like an absolute freak with this wax statue of her crush. Which granted, on its own isn’t entirely weird, like shes 14 and while I never did the whole kissing photos of your crush thing I have friends who did and yeah I make fun of them, but I’m not going to condemn them for it. However they’re in a public setting and while at 14 our standards were on the floor, I think we still had enough dignity to not attempt kissing a wax statue in public.
But that’s not where my issue lies. Rather when Adrien recoils as one who are near victims of assault are prone to do, Marinette is so humiliated that she gets mad at him. For what? Idk, because this would not have been anywhere near as big of an issue if you hadn’t been acting so weird with what she thought was a wax figurine.
I’m assuming the whole problem lies with the fact that Adrien didn’t break character sooner and let Marinette act like an idiot in front of him. Which granted he defo could’ve like backed up beforehand, but also he seems genuinely surprised when she tried to kiss him. Like he looks confused the whole time she’s pronouncing her love to him and maybe I’m reaching, but he’s shown to not be the best with social cues, and it’s not exactly criminal to assume that he really just didn’t pick up what Marinette was putting down.
I mean she does all of that and he still doesn’t realise she might like him. I’m just saying.
Still Marinette has absolutely no right to be upset about the situation she has put herself in. It pisses me off that the writer were twisting this to make her seem like the victim when she was acting weird as hell. Attempting to kiss a wax statue of your crush and then having them apologise for it is weird enough on its own.
But when your crush is also a friend you hang out with regularly then it’s just downright disturbing. Like I’ve had crushes on friends, but at 14 I definitely was not constructing weird romantic fantasy’s and roleplaying with a wax mould version of them.
Am I crazy??? Cause I feel like the whole fandom sees it as more of a second hand embarrassment moment, but I find it genuinely weird. Like Marinette sees Adrien as less of a person and more of a character she can project her fantasy’s onto and while I don’t really think there’s anything inherently wrong with that (she’s a teenager, of course she’s putting her crush on a pedestal) I feel like the fact that it’s never acknowledged by the narrative just makes it weird.
