exploring Origins Toolset (a gift that keeps on giving) and the V.A. directions for Arl Howe are FASCINATING. he has a secondary thought appended to every line of dialogue during the opening scene of Human Noble Origin -- and the insight into his psyche is somehow even more fucked-up than I thought

Bryce: I'm sorry pup; I didn't see you there. Howe, you remember my daughter? Howe: I see she's become a lovely young woman. Pleased to see you again, my dear.

Friendly, but hollow. "Here's the necessary exchange of pleasantries nobles must go through. I'm kind of preoccuppied with making sure your father is on track for my secret plan."

Cousland: Is your family here, Arl Howe? Howe: Oh no, I left them in Amaranthine, well away from the fighting in the south. They do send their best wishes.

Distracted. "I left them well out of harm's way. Though I don't want you to know harm is coming."

Howe: My son Thomas asked after you. Perhaps I should bring him with me next time.

Gauging the player's reaction. "My son wants to marry you. I don't approve, but mentioning it may get you to trust me."

Cousland (version 1): To what end? Howe: Ha! "To what end", she says! So glib, too. She's just like her mother when she talks like that.

fiddauthor is literally so crazy. especially with the context of it being the 70s and 80s too it just has SUCH a big vibe of fiddleford eventually settling with a woman because he's conflating romantic love with platonic love- which is of course just as valuable as romantic love but fidds clearly married emma-may with romantic intentions!! but then he gets asked to go up to gravity falls with ford and all these fuzzy feelings that just went by in a blur at backupsmore come rushing back and fiddleford has this horrible pain in his gut realizing that ford makes him feel so amazing and he's pining after him so hard and that he has NEVER felt something like that when he was with his wife. how must it feel having an excuse to stay in oregon with the life you desperately want with the man you love but you know you have to come back home eventually, to your wife, and your son. because you can't break her heart. you just don't have it in you. everything is different now.

DCXDP AU where Batman is one of the few survivors of the apocalypse from The Ultimate Enemy.

Danny meets Batman when trapped in the future and is shocked that Batman doesn't think he is too evil to be saved. Together they make a plan to stop his other self. Before Danny leaves, Batman gives him a secret code and tells him that if he needs help, he should go find Bruce Wayne.

Well Danny doesn't really plan on doing that, but after some event (his family dies again, a bad ghost reveal, the GIW, ect.) he finds himself running to Gotham.

Danny gets to Wayne Manor, gives the code word and says, "this is going to sound crazy, but I met Batman in the post apocalypse via time travel, and he told me to find you if I need help."

To Danny's surprise everyone immediately believes him. The kids take one look at him and know they have a new sibling.
