Top five Jessica Rabbits, go!
Top five video games?
Ask Me My "Top 5" Anything....
Banjo-Kazooie. Hands down. Hands down, this is my favorite game. Not just because it's a great game but because I have a lot of happy memories of playing it with my parents. I grew up with this game. It is maybe the only game I've 100% completed (screw you, Canary Mary; YOU'RE THE REASON I HAVEN'T WITH THE SECOND GAME). And then I introduced friends in college to it. I just bought a copy for a friend's kid. I love this game.
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. This would be a close competitor for first if not for, you know, Banjo. This is the game that got me into reading fanfic! (But not the one that got me into writing fanfic. That belongs to Tales of Symphonia, which will not be on this list.) Am I saying this is a good game? No. Am I saying it's in my top five? YES.
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. I have told at least one person that if she ever buys a Switch I will buy this game for her. I love this game. (I have considered by the Playstation version for my dad because he also loves this game (we've seen some playthroughs) and he's said this is a game he can play! So. You know.)
Undertale. Like. Another game that I frequently recommend to people. I mean. It's Undertale. That said, I haven't gone back and played this in a while, which means maybe it shouldn't be on this list. Hm. (But the story and the music. AND CHARA.)
Enter the Gungeon. I've played a lot of games, and like. I'm not talking story. I have never beaten this game. (I'm no good at bullet hell games, y'all. I'm surprised I made it through Undertale on pacifist.) But I like playing it! It's low stakes! And I like having my little puppy companion! (I pretend that the character I play as is Luisa. It's fun! I know there are other options. But I want to play with the puppy companion!!)

Sony's problem is they don't have any mascots, and all their well known characters aren't that mascot-y either.
Consider: Nintendo was able to make a videogame entirely out of mascots. It has 100 of them. For some reason they all fit in the game.
Warner bros was able to do the same thing. Fricken Warner Bros! Everyone knows Harley Quinn, Finn the Human, Jason Voorhers (lol), Steven Universe.
Xbox has Master Chief. Core and centre, Master Chief. Do they even need anyone else? Well they could throw in the Gears of War characters and even some Fallout bros if they want.
Sony has... Nathan Drake? Whoop de doo. Actually let me look at the list:
Tumblr media
Hooray! You can play as... *checks notes*... Cole MacGrath! Twice!
Like yeah playing as Raiden or Big Daddy would be legendary in Smash bros, they even had Dante(!!!), but they have far too many Serious characters and not enough silly mascots. It's just not the same as Smash.
They should do something like Soul Caliber where it's a real fighter and not a party fighter. Then you can have Aloy and Kratos fight each other and people will be excited about it. Maybe throw in Crash Bandicoot DLC to make the fans absolutely lose their minds.

The Best News of Last Week
Welcome to Feel Good News! Each week, I scour the web to bring you a collection of uplifting and positive news stories. My goal is to provide you with a dose of inspiration and hope to start your week off on the right foot.
This week, I have stories about individuals who are making a difference in their communities, companies that are doing good in the world, and much more. I hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as I enjoyed putting this newsletter together.
Let’s start with:
1. FDA Plans to Allow More Gay, Bisexual Men to Donate Blood
Tumblr media
Gay and bisexual men in monogamous relationships would be allowed to donate blood without abstaining from sex under guidelines being drafted by the Food and Drug Administration, people familiar with the plans said.
The change would be a departure from U.S. policy that for many years barred men who have sex with men from donating blood. The FDA policy originated in the 1980s during the AIDS epidemic, when tests for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, weren’t considered sensitive enough to protect the blood supply.
2. Biden-Harris Administration Makes $50 Million Available to Clean Up Orphaned Oil and Gas Wells on Tribal Lands
Tumblr media
There are several thousand orphaned oil and gas wells on Tribal lands, jeopardizing public health and safety by contaminating groundwater, seeping toxic chemicals, emitting harmful pollutants including methane, and harming wildlife. Some of these wells are underwater, which creates an especially high risk of adverse impacts.
3. Golden bandicoots 'breeding rapidly' in the NSW outback 100 years after becoming locally extinct
Tumblr media
The first golden bandicoots have been born in NSW's far north-west in 100 years, after formerly being extinct in the region.
Golden bandicoots have been breeding rapidly in Sturt National Park since being introduced to as part of the Wild Deserts project. There are initiatives in place as part of the project to protect native fauna from feral animals. More native species are set be reintroduced to the area and will be confirmed next year.
Cue the Crash Bandicoot references :D
4. Toledo Zoo welcomes twin polar bear cubs
Tumblr media
Twin polar bear cubs were born at the Toledo Zoo, the zoo announced Thursday. The parents of the twin cubs are 24-year-old female, Crystal, and 18-year-old male, Nuka.
Crystal’s eighth and ninth cubs’ genders are unknown at this time. They are estimated to make their public exhibit debut in the spring of 2023.
Watch the video of the announcement here:

5. A Philadelphia woman collects thousands of stuffed animals and brings them to seniors who are in need of a Christmas gift
Tumblr media
Santa Claus isn't the only person who travels around with a vehicle full of toys. Every holiday season, Patricia Gallagher fills her car with stuffed animals and drives around Philadelphia. She doesn't give them to kids, she gives them to seniors.
"Who would think that elderly veterans would want stuffed animals? But they did," Patricia Gallagher said of the project.
6. 150 sea turtles saved from the cold. An aquarium in Boston has been treating "cold-stunned" sea turtles stranded on US beaches.
Tumblr media
An aquarium in Boston has been treating "cold-stunned" sea turtles stranded on US beaches. Experts urge the public not to return stranded animals into the water.
Over 150 sea turtles have received treatment this season for "life-threatening medical conditions" prompted by hypothermia in the New England Aquarium, based in the US city of Boston.
7. 'No K-pop on a dead planet': Meet the K-pop stans taking on the climate crisis
Tumblr media
What does Kpop4planet do?
Nurul a 23 year old fan from Indonesia and her colleagues have channeled most of their energy into six different climate campaigns. Over 33,000 fans from 170 countries have taken part in them.
The most successful of these has been ‘No K-pop on a dead planet’. It called for K-pop albums to go green by selling digital rather than physical albums, minimizing the packaging and encouraging low carbon performances.
The movement has proved popular with the fandom. For Kpop4planet work two full-time employees along with 20 volunteer ambassadors from nine countries. The group is funded by Action Speaks Louder, a charity registered in Australia who lobby to hold big companies accountable for their climate change promises.
. . .
That’s it for this week. If you liked this post you can support this newsletter with a small kofi donation:

Have a great week ahead :)

Interview with the creator, Tokuro Fujiwara.
And here is a new interview with Tomba! creator Tokuro Fujiwara published on PlayStation Blog:
In 1997, when you made Tomba!, most developers focused on making 3D games like Tomb Raider or Crash Bandicoot. You instead decided to mix 2D sprites with perspective-shifting 3D environments. Why? Tokuro Fujiwara: “Tomba! runs on 3D technology, with gameplay designed around 2D principles. This is why it’s described as a 2.5D game. I think 2D games have a certain kind of charm that 3D doesn’t. I also wanted to push the limits of what could be done. To bring my vision to life, I needed to use 2D principles along with 3D CG visuals. This allowed me to create something that felt new on the PlayStation. “There were times when I wondered if I should go 3D instead, 3D games have a very clear sense of space. In 2D, all the action takes place on a flat plane, and multiple layers provide a sense of depth. This means you have to design the game in creative ways so that the different layers don’t conflict. This results in something interesting that can only be achieved with 2D.” What do you hope new players will take away from Tomba! Special Edition? Fujiwara: “Tomba! has many side quests. These come in different varieties and are hidden throughout the game. I encourage players to seek them out. Various items allow players to learn new moves, expanding how levels can be beaten. I hope players search and seal away the Evil Pigs scattered throughout the world, which will unlock even more to see! There are many discoveries to be made. I hope players can relax and enjoy the world of Tomba!” Speaking of genre-bending gameplay. Tomba! feels like an open world despite being described as a side-scrolling platformer. This was largely due to how nonlinearly the levels could be played. Was this done intentionally, or was it something that just happened through development? Fujiwara: “I had envisioned this open-feel game from the very beginning. It was all a blur when things started, but as development progressed, it began taking shape. “You could consider Tomba! an open-world title, a term that was rarely used back then. There’s a wide area with a lot of different content in it. You encounter, discover, and collect various things as you move around. For example, you have to complete certain tasks in Tomba!, but you can wander around freely and complete them however you like. Some tasks and main objectives can even be skipped entirely. Many of the ideas I envisioned for Tomba! back in the day were ideas we see in open-world game design today. “I initially wanted to include 100 quests, but the final game exceeded that. It was hard work for the team to fit it all together on a timeline. What started out as vague ideas in my head ballooned into an amount of content so large it blew my mind!” The original PlayStation was a massive leap in gaming technology. What was it like to experience it back then? Fujiwara: “Game development is an ongoing battle against technology growth. This was the case back then and is still true today. I felt that the PlayStation was such a remarkable improvement in terms of hardware, allowing for greater possibilities. Games went from being rendered in pixels to CG. Game developers had to learn many new skills. Expectations ballooned along with the scope of game ideas. Development environments evolved, which made things challenging but exciting for developers. The introduction of the PlayStation and the advancements from that era still impact games today.” Finally, why do you think it’s important to bring Tomba! back now? Fujiwara: “Tomba! has been around for a long time, but continues to be loved by many. I’ve long wished that the game could be accessible to more people on modern systems. Now that the opportunity is here, I think PlayStation fans today will get a ton of enjoyment out of Tomba!“

may or may not have stayed up all night reading this book as soon as I could get my hands on it but anyway I have some thoughts and most of them are screaming.
I really loved the book. Did it have flaws? Yes. Do I care? No. I'm 22, the targeted age range is something like 10-16. When I first got into this series I was the same age as nico. It's been a long journey getting older and changing and healing. Seeing that for Nico was all I really wanted from this book.
Also, realistic relationship struggles and growth!! Loved that!! Having a chronic illness is hard, your partner watching you suffer with it is also hard for them!! Having conversations and misunderstandings and awkward moments is how it goes!! After being in a 3 year relationship with someone I love very much I'm like,,, yes!! Thank you!! I have lifelong chronic illness!! It's not going away I gotta learn to live with it it's a part of me!! My partner struggles with it but is trying so hard and I love them so much!!! But I'm so much more than a pile of suffering and that's the point!!! You choose to keep trying and that's the point the book makes!! there's a whole scene about it and it's so important!!! Will starts to be more accepting and understanding and we love to see it! Nico accepts he needs to let himself move on and that it's ok to do that and not be angry with your past self for trying to stay alive!!
I make no sense and I don't care. But also, they're cringey and memey and dumb. They're hysterical and going a little bit crazy and they love each other and like, I'm not ok. Neither are they. Its been an extremely stressful week for them.
And I don't think it's super out of character because we barely know these people!! Nico has been suffering and in survival mode almost the whole time we have known him!! Will has been a background character most of the time!! Nico was a bubbly 10 year old and Will was like 4 sentences. Nico has made occasional/awkward/dark jokes and Will was shown to be stubborn and concerned and caring because demigods are ridiculously hard to keep alive. Let them be weird and cringey they're literal teenagers. Have you been in a high school with people obnoxiously dating. They are. The worst.
Broke: camp is empty because people wanna see their families
Woke: camp is empty because will and nico are just that couple who are cringe 100% of the time and everyone just noped out
I know I keep getting sidetracked but. Point is. nico and will seem out of character because of circumstances and time skips probably. Nicos finally in a stable place and can actually process things, mans is curious about the world he's in no wonder he's a memelord the internet just does that to you. People change when they're not in survival mode, I definitely am not the same person I was when I was 16. Not even the same person I was when I was 18. Or 20. Like, mental health glow ups bring out some of the best parts of you.
AND THANK YOU PIPER I FEEL SO SEEN RN, don't know what label I fit under, I am confusion but it's ok!! I am a big ole ace spectrum mess and maybe tomorrow it'll be different! Either way the book had a lot of great moments and no it's not the same as old rr books but it was never gonna be, the nostalgia associated with the original pjo series means nothing will ever live up to those books and that's kind of just life for some of yall. fuck knows I crave the joy I felt playing crash bandicoot for the first time. I miss that time of my life and it's ok to miss that but it's also ok to move forward and find new things that bring life joy and meaning!!
anyway. I enjoyed the sun and the star and I will continue to enjoy it regardless of what other people think, I can like things just because I do, or just because they make me happy. And this book definitely made me happy. Also holy fuck I need some sleep. Sorry about all the exclamation points it's all that's keeping me awake!!

i cant keep watching cartoon theory videos while i try to work because i get too legitimately invested. anyway speaking of theory videos i feel like it would take me 15 minutes video length max to establish a coherent timeline for the crash bandicoot canon and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the radical entertainment era is NOT a parallel universe and in fact part of the true canon timeline. however this would require me 100% completing every crash bandicoot game i can just to refresh myself but thats not completely out of the question so we'll see

My latest self-imposed challenge: To 100% the Crash Bandicoot trilogy.
I only briefly had the original PlayStation, and one of the few games I had for it was Crash Bandicoot 2. I never managed to finish it.
So far I have 102% in Crash 1, 100% in Crash 2, and 60% in Crash 3.
These games are so hard and frustrating in entirely new and exciting ways. But that's good, right?

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex - Smokey and the Bandicoot:
"Like I've said, this game is mostly based on the previous one, which means...the races are back...and I still hate it. Ok, I do think the gameplay is a bit better than the previous game, but it's still annoying to 100%."
PS: the gameplay used for this gifset is not mine. The original video belongs to the user: JokerAlex21, on Youtube.
