Who hasn’t dreamed of their own wings?
Tumblr media
I can’t believe they’re done, and I made them! I bought this crochet pattern by Crafty Intentions on Etsy a year ago because I stumbled across it and wanted my own wing shawl so badly!
Only one problem: I didn’t know how to crochet.
Tumblr media
And so the PDF sat in my inbox for an entire year.
Then, earlier this summer I finally got around to teaching myself the basics of crochet and how to read a pattern.
This is my second crochet project following a pattern 😬 - that’s what hyper focus and a dream will do for you!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used a wool and acrylic blend, worsted weight yarn in three different shades of brown.
This pattern was fantastic. Each feather felt like an accomplishment, and everything was so well explained, it came together just naturally. All in I think it took around 50 hours over 3 weeks.
Tumblr media
The wings are over 6’ long! And the bottom two rows of feathers are bordered with single crochet in the color of the row above it. I didn’t border the top row.
Tumblr media
I love how they came out, it’s wonderfully heavy and I feel like some sort of great owl witch in it which is a vibe I can get behind.
Tumblr media
Also many thanks to my 5yo for the photoshoot and taking these great pictures of mama! ❤️

My beautiful Cassiopeia, the dragon of spring!! I’m sooo proud of how she turned out honestly!
She sat on my desk for over a year waiting for me to complete her. At the time she was a monochrome white and black dragon but I just couldn’t find a fitting way to bring her to completion! So I started from scratch!

I am so pleased with how this is turning out! Though I did realise after I’d already complete the shell that I’d accidentally made the wrong size, oh no! I have enough white handspun to make up the correct larger size, so I’m just gonna have to make the small snail body using my christmas advent handspuns. Snail party incoming 🐌 🐌 🐌

WE GOT THERE PALS
Honestly, the part I’m most impressed with is that I managed to get a picture of the glowing yarn. It worked it worked it worked! 😄

Pattern by Megan Lapp (Craftyintensions), this time from her book Crochet creatures of Myth and Legends. I bought a few dragon patterns from her in the past (and tried too) and when I saw this book in my favourite e-shop with books and so, I just had to buy it (though one of the bigger dragon patterns is the one I already had), but I enjoy a lot having it in the book. Anyway, this one was new for me. I left out the strikes on the back and the wings are done differently (it's actually the same as the dragon "ears") because I had only a bit of violet left. I originally planned to make the wings from the orange yarn, but it looked weird so I ended up doing it this way. I think he turned out pretty cute anyway, despite the changes :)
And all that's left of the violet yarn is just two or three scraps not longer than 10 cm. I'm so proud of myself to used up the yarn that I bought only because I liked the gradient and didn't have any plan for it. (especially when I make basically just amigurumi fandom dolls). Thinking of it, I was making mostly various dragons out of it :D

Started this project back in November before I had safety eyes but now my rainbow of dragons is finally complete!! I wanted each dragon to stay monochrome to its own colour rather than having different coloured wings (except black and white)

Technically, he’s bigger than the cat
I had realized I hadn’t taken proper photos of this wyvern, and it’s too cold and gross to do so outside now.
He resides on top of a bookcase, watching probably in amusement as the furdemons cause chaos below.
