My little contribution to Bernard's AU as part of the court of owls!

Even if I was a thousand years late for the Coo! Bernard AU but in my defense they are an acquired taste lol I had to slowly get exposed to the idea of Bernard as part of the court of owls but damn I love it now!

Ok, so for this Au, Bernard and Tim are a couple, Tim hasn't told Bernard that he's Robin but he knows (due to court of owls surveillance stuff), but instead of Bernard wanting to hurt Tim or turn him into a Talon and that, what Bernard wants most is to see Tim shine.

He wants to see his Robin save the day, he wants to see him capture the villains, save Batman's life, solve the mysteries, he wants Tim to be the center of a show just for him. But he wants all reactions Tim has to be genuine (what's the point of the actor realizing he's onstage?), so he'll manipulate everyone and everything around Tim just to see how they react and deal his couple with these situations.

Things get out of hand when Bernard orchestrates an escape from Arkham for Tim to deal with, but Tim was supposed to fight Ivy! Joker wasn't supposed to be there! Joker was supposed to go after Batman, in his usual way repetitive eternal battle of order against chaos. Joker decides to torture Tim and broadcast it live to the whole city as a way to hurt Batman (and maybe he was planning to do something like Joker Junior), but Bernard won't allow it. If it had been any of the other Batfam members, Bernard would have been entertained by the show and supported Tim's efforts (behind the scenes) to get the missing member back, but he wouldn't have interfered. But he's not going to let his main star go out like this. It's time for a cut scene.

It's time for the owls to enter the stage! The court's maze looks like a good place to start the next act! (after healing Tim, of course).

How will Robin deal with them? Bernard is excited to share the stage with his beloved Tim!

This drawing comes from an incredible fanfic by @yeetus-feetus and the idea that @mcgomega gave in the comments of his post. Everyone, please go read it here, it's spectacular!!! So I want to dedicate this drawing to you two!!!

Ok, so the idea basically is; Tim has been neglecting himself and his health and does not seek help when he is injured, however every time he is injured and unconscious he is healed by a mysterious benefactor, who not only gives first-class care to his injuries, but also who gives him gifts of gold.

In the end he realizes that this person is treating him like a piece of Kintsugi art, trying to repair the broken soul of him with gold.

Buuut, the idea is that the one who has been doing this behind the scenes is Coo! Bernard, so in general, the fic I'm writing is a slow seduction fic to the dark side for Tim, from a creepy, lovesick Bernard hehehe

Trouble in Paradise; Wayne’s finally in their breakup era?

Tonight we bring you not, but two stories of failed romances in the Wayne Family. Our first story up being the potential cheating occurring in the relationships of Wayne Enterprises (see related articles) newest (and youngest) CEO.

Earlier yesterday evening we were made aware of yet another potential scandal in the Wayne family’s love lives; the third Wayne son and current CEO of Wayne Enterprises, Timothy Drake-Wayne ( @timblrdrake ) (see related articles), may be getting cheated on.

The alleged cheater, Bernard Down ( @officialbernarddowd ) (see related articles), has been accused of two-timing both Mr. Drake-Wayne and their partner, Astra Hal-El ( @totally-not-soupernova ) (see related articles), with none other than one of our beloved city’s very own vigilantes.

Who is this masked home wrecker? None other than Red Robin ( @actuallyredrobin ) (see related articles), himself.

The alleged affair between Mr. Dowd and Red Robin has been going on for several weeks now, the earliest mention of it that we were able to find dating back to July this year.

This, however, is not unexpected given Mr. Dowd’s penchant for saying one thing yet doing another. The most recent example of this being his dramatic turn from priesthood in the Children of Dionysus (see related articles) to moonlighting as a Talon (see related articles) for the Court of Owls ( @court--of--owls ) (see related articles), seemingly without either parties prior knowledge.

Though Red Robin is adamantly denying this connection, Mr. Dowd has been unable to comment, neither have either of his partners, Mr. Drake-Wayne and Ms. Hal-El. We only hope that the young throuple are able to resolve this as soon as possible.

Our second story tonight comes from Mr. Bruce Thomas Wayne ( @officialbruciewayne ) (see related articles) himself, and his alleged split with this on-again off-again partner; Selina Kyle ( @selinakyl-ee ) (see related articles).

Their relationship has been known for many years, though when asked neither Mr. Wayne or Ms. Kyle could pinpoint an exact date, not even remembering at what time they met.

This however, is not the focus of our story. As of only a few days ago, the two have been rumoured to have called it quits. The split is, to the public, relatively sudden given their amicability whenever seen in public or asked of one another (see related articles). We sent an intern to interview Mr. Wayne on the matter, his response was greatly illuminating.

When asked on the nature of the split, Mr. Wayne stressed the fact that the breakup was mutual and that the two are still close. That being said he also found it prudent to mention that it was no fault of Ms. Kyle’s, stating directly -

“ It ended because she deserved more than I had to offer. ”

This comes after many a rumour that Mr. Wayne may be on the aromantic (see related articles) and/or asexual spectrum (see related articles). When asked, he responded that these were untrue, citing is many public relationships with both men and women (see related posts) as a counter.

Unfortunately, this rabbit hole of attempting to figure out the meaning of Mr. Wayne’s words has gotten us nothing but speculation, theories ranging from the tame to the ludicrous and bizarre (see related articles).

“Tim sitting back and watching the chaos while Bernard comes up with the wildest conspiracy theories” is a great troupe, but consider;

Bernard’s making up wild theories, 20% because he believes them and 362946% for fun, and Tim listens passively until he just so happens to drop in the most randomly wild pieces of information completely out of left field. Like, Bernard will mention that some people in Metropolis don’t even know about the secret parts of the military, when Tim will just say, “Yeah, I was offered a place in a highly specialised squad once. Nearly died. It was wild.”

And at first, Bernard thinks Tim’s just doing it to poke fun at him, but as time goes on, he starts to realise that it’s not sarcasm, which is even worse, because what the everloving fuck does Tim mean by “Secret Villain Internet that sucks you in and drives you insane”? And why does Tim know about it??

Tim casually hints at the existence of the Court of Owls by telling Bernard to not trust the owls in Gotham and Bernard. Does not sleep.

Is it just me, or the Dionysus Cult seems like a discount Court of Owls? Maybe I'm just making this out because only because both of them has a maze, but... do you think CoO would also work as well? Instead of making up new cults/enemies?

You know what might be a good idea? That the cult is a splinter from the court. Bad guys are bad guys, so it shouldn't be strange that they fight among themselves. I would love to see how these groups' dynamics works.

Tim had destroyed the Court of Owls, and in doing so, has ruined the lives of everyone around him. Actions have consequences, and Tim has to deal with them.

Hahah I am confirming that and since I've been called I will do a little storytime because I feel like it <3

This concept on twitter started kinda as a joke because I randomly tweeted once "what do you think Bernard's opinion on the Court is" because I was thinking a lot about his interest in conspiracy and secret societies. My best friend hopped on that and he said "he's a part of the Court"

And then I created some "concept" sketches just for him but he encouraged me to post them and then... it just kinda spread

That's also how I branched out into darker themes (there is still a way to go but it was that starting point and it never left me since </3)

We never came round to writing anything except for That One Short Comic and listing random ideas in dms (very angsty ones - for example there is a whole Romeo and Juliet-esque scenario for that au in which Bernard wants to run away with Tim so he comes up with a plan to fake Tim's death in front of the Court but the plan fails because even though Bernard un-poisoned the blade in his cane, someone poisoned it back and oh well.....)

But I so very love the writers who just ran with this concept <3

So this whole thing lowkey feels very personal to me, since creating silly little scenarios about evil Bernard was a bonding activity for me and my best friend and we even consider this Bernard to be a sort of our child hah

That child grew so fast :')

(+ as a fun fact I can mention that Bernard's cane design - and I don't mean the hidden blade, I mean the heavy, mace-like handle I was describing in that design sheet once - was sorta influenced by maces that were in use in our respective countries back in 16th-18th century so... it goes kinda deep)

how did the whole Court Of Owls!Bernard trend happen? Was there any sort of reference to the comics I missed?

and how it started if I remember correctly at the time a lot of people had this idea that Bernard was going to be a villain, but in a really homophobic way, you know the kind of “oh he is definitely mind controlling Tim to use him and Steph has to be the one to save him from the gay!” So fans started doing villain Bernard but still loving Tim to fuck with them, there were many ideas, like the Dowd family being all villains, Nina Dowd being his aunt, but the one that stuck around was CoO!Bernard.
