“I promise you the bed will be so much comfier” — Austin butler x reader
Summary: you are Florence’s bestie and meet Austin through her while she’s on set during filming for Dune :)
Pairing: Austin Butler x reader
Word count: 1.1K
Warnings: fluff! Slow burn, no real romance, friends before dating typa cuteness! I wrote this while extremely tired so sorry if there are typos </3
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Your best friend, Florence, was in the UAE for filming for Dune. When Florence told you she was going to be spending those 5 shooting weeks either in the desert or alone in the apartment they would provide for her, you offered to find some time to visit her for a bit, but it ended up in you just coming with her for almost the whole time.
You settled into a routine with her nicely, though you didn’t see much of her for more than a few hours at a time. Mostly you filled your time with exploring the nearby areas, reading and occasionally visiting Flo on set. It was during one of these days that you first met Austin.
It was easy to get along with his relaxed demeanour, and his charm made it even easier to strike up a friendship of sorts. It wasn’t long before your friendship with him felt as though there wasn’t a time where you hadn’t known each other.
One early morning, you found yourself tossing and turning in bed. Sleep eluded you, and the more you tried to force it, the more restless you became. Frustrated and tired, you grabbed your phone to check the time. 6:14. Florence had long shoot this day and you didn’t want to wake her up any earlier she had to be up. Pushing past the straining sensation the light of your phone gave your eyes, you decided to text Austin, who didn’t have to be on set until the evening.
“You awake? I can’t sleep.”
No reply as you scrolled aimlessly, waiting. Figuring his silence was a ‘no,’ you put your phone down and tried for the hundredth time to fall asleep. Just as the the room fell back to darkness, a buzz beside your head alerted you back to full consciousness.
“I am. Come over, door will be unlocked for you.”
You didn’t hesitate. All the cast and crew were staying in houses along the same strip and Austin’s was conveniently just across the road. You slipped on your shoes and quietly made your way over, the early morning air cool and refreshing against your skin as you knocked lightly before pushing the door open. You found Austin in the kitchen, already making his breakfast and a coffee.
“Hey,” he greeted you with a warm smile, “you look sleepy.”
“Because I am,” you replied, with slightly more attitude than you intended, “I just couldn’t get comfortable.”
You turned to leave, going to curl up at the end of the couch in the living room.
He soon joined you, placing his food on the coffee table. You lifted your head from the back of the sofa to look up at him.
Austin motioned towards his bedroom. “If you want to try and get some more sleep, I promise you the bed will be so much comfier.”
“Are you sure?” You asked, hesitating for a moment.
“Yeah, of course,” Austin said, leading you towards his room. “Make yourself at home.”
You slipped into his bed, instantly feeling enveloped in comfort. Austin closed the curtains but left the door open, ensuring you could rest without feeling too closed in. His sheets smelt divine, just like the way he smelt every day, but softer. And between you and well, you, there may have been some feelings starting to develop for him.
You actually did manage to get some rest, when the sound of conversation woke you. You heard Florence’s voice ask if he’d seen you.
Austin replied, “Yeah, she’s in bed,” nodding towards his room.
Concern painted Flo’s face, “she slept with you?”
Austin shook his head, setting down his coffee. "No, she came over earlier. She’s just having a nap. She couldn’t sleep at your place."
Florence crossed her arms, studying him carefully. "Mhm. And are you trying to sleep with her?"
Austin met her gaze evenly. "No, I’m not trying to sleep with her."
"So, there are no feelings for her? And it’s normal for you to let anyone you’ve known four weeks sleep in your bed?" Florence pressed, her concern evident. She was your best friend, and you did only know Austin a few weeks. She really was only looking out for you, even if she was being a bit pushy for half seven in the morning.
Austin sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Right now, my feelings for her are friend deep because that is all I’ll let them be. If she makes it clear to me that she wants me to make my move, then I will allow myself to feel more.”
Florence nodded slowly, her expression softening. "I just don’t want you hurting her."
"I promise, that is the very last thing I want to do," Austin assured her.
Florence glanced towards the bedroom, then back at Austin. "Alright, I’ve got to go. I’m already late. Thanks for the breakfast," she said, holding up the small to-go container he gave her.
"No problem," Austin replied with a warm smile. "Don’t work too hard."
Florence gave him a cheeky nod and grin before disappearing, her voice yelling, “I will hurt you if I find out you try anything on her,” earning a laugh from Austin.
You decided to pretend to still be asleep so he wouldn’t know you heard any of their conversation. Austin took a moment to gather himself before heading towards his bedroom where he thought you were still sleeping. He approached the doorframe and knocked gently. You groaned softly, stirring but not quite waking.
"Sorry," Austin whispered, not wanting to startle you. "Are you ready for some breakfast?"
You shook your head, still half-buried in the pillows. Austin smiled softly, about to walk away, when he heard you mumble his name.
"Yeah?" he responded, turning back towards you.
You reached out towards him, and he stepped closer, thinking you were asking for help getting up. But instead of taking his hand, you wrapped your arms around his neck, insisting on being held.
He leaned down, his strong arms easily lifting her from the bed. You nestled against him, your head resting on his shoulder.
"Where do you want to go? The couch?" he asked softly.
You shook your head, your hair brushing against his cheek. You laid your head more comfortably on his shoulder, and Austin took the cue, gently swaying back and forth, like rocking a baby. His arms were strong and steady, capable of holding you for as long as you needed him to.
You stayed like this for several minutes, the morning light casting a soft glow through the partially closed curtains. Austin felt a deep sense of peace, content just to be there with you. Eventually, he felt you shift slightly, a sign that you were ready to move. He lowered you gently back down, your feet touching the floor. You looked up at him with a shy smile, your eyes filled with warmth.
"Let’s get you some breakfast,” he smiled back.

It’s so bitterly cold here in the Midwest USA, I wish I could be hanging with hunky guys in Dubai or something for Christmas. You think you could help me with that man?
You should have landed at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport by now. But because of a snowstorm, you were diverted to Chicago O'Hare International Airport. This cursed journey to the holidays is getting worse by the minute. And if you drink another beer to drown your frustration, you're going to puke. But right now you need to take a piss. You find it a little difficult to get up. Firstly, because of the alcohol in your blood. On the other hand, because you've become a real heavyweight since last Christmas. A bit more exercise and less eating and drinking would also do you a lot of good…
The toilet is empty. It's amazing that so many people are stranded here so close to the holidays… And there's a sports bag by the washbasin. And it's still there when you come back from the urinals. Not a soul in sight… Could there be a bomb in there? A normal and sober person would now inform the security service. But you are definitely not sober. So you grab the bag. And in a reasonably quiet corner, you check the contents. Jackpot! Not much special. Sportswear, a white nightgown… And a wallet with quite a lot of cash, a passport from the UAE and above all: a flight ticket to SHJ. No idea what and where that is. But you have to change planes at JFK and DOH. That sounds exotic. It certainly sounds better than Kansas. Boarding starts in 20 minutes. As best you can with your beer belly, you walk towards the gate.
When you arrive at the gate, boarding is almost complete. The ground crew member asks you for your boarding pass and passport. Shit, you didn't even think about the fact that you don't look like your passport photo. The guy looks at your passport, looks at you, grins and wishes you a good flight. As you pass him, you hear him say to his colleague that you've really become a fat pig since the photo was taken. Well, that's probably your luck in this case.
You have a layover of over five hours at JFK. You heard in the in-flight program that the TWA Hotel & Fitness Center at JFK is supposed to be the largest hotel gym in the world. You really need a gym. And you have time too. So you set off. Not much sporting activity is to be expected from you. But after an hour of power walking on the treadmill and half an hour on the cross trainer, your new sports clothes from the bag you found are soaked with sweat. But you feel fit. Really fit. As you stand in front of the mirror after your shower, you run your hands over your stomach. Flat and hard. When you tense your muscles. That's how it should be. And you get rid of the rest of the fat too. It sucks with the beard. You shaved your beard for Thanksgiving. Because you were invited to a friend's parents' house. You didn't want to scare them off with your beard. But now the beard hasn't grown back the way you'd hoped. Your mother will scold you terribly.
You grab a salad and a protein shake at the bar in the gym. You want to sleep on the plane. The food on board is delicious and plentiful, but not good for your body. To make sleeping on board quicker, you put on just a tank top and jogging suit for the flight. It takes you a good twelve hours to reach Doha. You want to use this time to arrive home well-rested.
At boarding, the ground staff greet you in Arabic. Of course. As usual. It's nice to study in the USA. But you don't have to stay with the infidels in winter. You're now looking forward to the warm sun in the Gulf. The person sitting next to you is a non-believer. And obviously not familiar with Qatar Airways' in-flight catering. She has brought a large portion of chicken wings with fries from KFC on board. You almost feel sick. She offers you something. You flex your biceps and say in English with a heavy Arabic accent that you can't get these babies at KFC.
The flight was quiet, apart from the brief interruption during which you fucked the infidel chick in the airplane toilet. You'll have to do without a wet pussy for the next few weeks. Hehehe, but your cousins and your bruhs have tight asses. That works at least as well. You only have just under two hours in Doha before the last flight segment. You quickly go to the airport mosque, do your ablutions and sunset prayers, change into your spotless white dishdasha and board the plane to Sharjah. Over the next few weeks, you are the perfect son again. You will enjoy it. And as soon as the crazy holidays of the infidels are over, you'll be looking forward to fucking, drinking and partying again!
I found the last picture of you before you change to immaculate white at @alphaincar

DAY 5578
Jalsa, Mumbai May 25/26, 2023 Thu/Fri 10;25 AM
Birthday - EF - Rasika Shashikant .. Jaspreet Singh Ef Friday, 26 May .. and my wishes as always for your wellness and care .. ❤️
🪔 .. May 26 .. Birthday greetings to Ef Rasika Pawar Shashikant from UAE .. and .. Ef Jaspreet Singh .. love and wishes from the Ef Family .. always and ever ❤️❤️❤️🌿
yesterday was brief and the understanding of it was elaborate and filled with un -briefed opinions and comments .. it showed your love and affection and also the fact that no matter what, you remain there with me ..
this is a rarity where , each day and time change is a factor with the generation of the next decade .. no no no .. decade is time consuming .. the next DAY .. and pun intended ..🤣
but yes .. the brevity was to be in charge of the circumstances at work , which I might add were demanding and irksome and testing and .. well ..
and yes at times the body and mind attuned to the work does not care or worry or think of any else .. as i would imagine are the Terms and Conditions for any individual at the work station .. and so ..
when the domesticity demands or flares up about the hours without food or drink , it is worrisome to them of course but out forgetfulness for that is not because we do not wish to obey .. it is our preoccupation with the work on hand ..
what can be designed to be done after a lunch break can be done in continuity of the work in motion and finished ahead of time .. and then indulge in whatever the indulgence needed ..
it may be difficult to understand or be of any comprehension for one that is not in the craft , to know that we also keep our motors in execution long after the work is over ..
when we sit silently or involved in other conversations , one section of the cerebrum keeps the computer of memory on forever .. and brings it to the stage of printing it when the camera gets into motion .. odd but ..
aahhh .. explanations of this kind are a give away to many of the minds of all .. but some minds think and operate thus ..
graciousness of all for the miss last night .. but ..
am on a furlough thought .. thought eh .. to be in practice soon .. hopefully shall then be better placed to operate the connection needed ..
each day is a study in observation .. and permanent recording .. never forget that .. not just in any individual mind but on the complicated communication systems prevalent these days .. in life .. in your surroundings ..
My love ..

Amitabh Bachchan

hello I've been following u for a while and needed some advice on my life. I'm 27 Yr indian woman who grew up very sheltered and wasn't allowed to be social. I grew up in uae where it was much safer but my father would not let me go out and socialize and I dropped out of high school because of severe depression. That school was the only social life I had and after that it was like I was in a prison. We moved back to India and it's so much worse and conservative here. I haven't had friends since high school and haven't talked to anyone new in years. My education isn't complete and I don't have a job. My father won't help me study or leave the house. I am so dependent on him even for the simplest thing. My mother and sisters have the same fate as me. No education, no extended family support, no job. We are so afraid to do anything cuz we didn't learn how. I feel so helpless in this situation I don't know how to get out of it. My social anxiety and insecurities are not the only thing holding me back. I am just lost. My father has ruined my life by imprisoning me but he won't accept it. He says it's just how Muslims are. I'm afraid my father will force me to get married as there is no other choice for me. I used to be such a talkative and cheerful child but as soon as my periods started I was treated like a thing. I have no proof of my father's abuse as it wasn't always physical and my father's manipulative ways make it seem like I'm the crazy one for standing up to myself. I'm sorry for dumping this on u. I just needed someone to talk to. Pls ignore if this makes u uncomfortable.
Hi dear. I feel as though you should reach out some programs in the UK and Germany with your background and story. Like contact admissions. And I do feel that you might be able to get in by doing some online course equivalent fulfillment for the highschool diploma. And thereafter apply to uni programs.
It's not too late. I would suggest to explore this path. The other alternative is getting an online job and networking on LinkedIn to find a job. But I'm not sure about the job market without credentials. Even though credentials are not very important at the end of the day to do a job, they are requirements by HR typically.
But if you are able to look up stories of women who have succeeded in the face of abuse or restriction and accomplish something, and then reach out to them on LinkedIn. Asking for mentorship Ang guidance, they might be able to help you. Both to guide you and also help you with a job. Focus especially on women in India.

Also girl...You lived in several countries? We have a cosmopolitan globetrotter here! Now but that's honestly so cool! Can I ask which countries? Feel free to not answer if it's too personal 💕
Hahaha, yeah, it's not THAT cool tbh cuz for some of them it was only a few months.
couple months in France cuz I was trying to do a thing where I studied there and had my courses count at my home university back in Boston and initially they told me it would work, but then changed their mind so i just went back lmao.
I lived in Dubai, UAE. In Jordan, and in Greece. Despite my very best efforts, the ONE PLACE that I have wanted to live in is England and that has never happened. :(((((
