Happy 25th birthday to Count Nikolai of Monpezat!

Born on 28 August 1999, Nikolai William Alexander Frederik is the eldest son of Prince Joachim and his first wife, Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, and eldest grandchild of Queen Margrethe Il. He is currently sixth in the line of succession to the Danish throne. At the time of his birth, he was third, after his uncle and father.

Nikolai was born a prince of Denmark, originally styled "His Highness Prince Nikolai of Denmark". In September 2022, Queen Margrethe I decided to strip the children of her son Joachim from their princely status. Since 1 January 2023, Count Nikolai is known as "His Excellency Count Nikolai of Monpezat".

He was baptised in the chapel of the Fredensborg Palace on 6 November 1999. His godparents include his paternal uncle, the King Frederik of Denmark and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Happy 54th Birthday to Prince Joachim of Denmark!

Born on 7 June 1969 in Copenhagen, Prince Joachim Holger Waldemar Christian is the younger son of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Prince Henrik. He is currently sixth in line to the Danish Throne.

On 24 May 2008, Prince Joachim married Marie Cavallier in the Møgeltønder Church on the day marking the 73rd anniversary of the wedding of his grandparents, King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark.

He has four children, Count Nikolai (b. 1999) & Count Felix (b. 2002) - with his ex-wife Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg and Count Henrik (b. 2011) and Countess Athena (b. 2015) with Princess Marie.

He is a patron of a number of charities and organizations like Main Organization For Reserve Personnel in Denmark, CARE Denmark, Fjord & Baeld, Young Scientists, Food Tech etc.

Prince Joachim and his family currently reside in Paris where he is working as a Military Attaché, Royal Danish Embassy. However, the family will soon be relocating to Washington DC where the Prince begins a new position under the Ministry of Defence as defence industry attaché at the Embassy of Denmark from September 1st.

He is currently living in Sydney, Australia with his girlfriend, Benedikte Thoustrop, where he is studying at the University of Technology for a semester. The Count is also a model for the Elite Model World and Soght Management Studio agencies.

“Countess Alexandra's red ball gown from her engagement portrait doesn't get talked about enough imo. She looked wow. The shape of the skirt, the tiara hairstyle, the off shoulder neckline, the embroidery!!! Everything about the look just came together most wonderfully. The only nitpick is that Margrethe gave her that ugly tiara but otherwise it was definitely the best wedding/engagement portrait to come out of denmark between her, cp Mary and princess Marie.” - Submitted by Anonymous
