Ok so I’ve been thinking about Basil’s grandma a bunch and I discovered something amazing when trying to decide what her actual name is-

believe or not I’ve found the most amazing name, Basia

And this is AMAZING to me because it offers an incredibly simple in-lore explanation for why Basil would be named Basil, he’s named after his grandmother, But his parents changed the A to an L to make it more masculine sounding

Because while In the meta of Omori itself Basil being named Basil is to reference the portrait of Dorian Gray, in my personal Basil lore the name doesn’t make much sense- but if this is the explanation then it’s just like how people will name a daughter Alexandra after an Alexander

And I know it doesn’t NEED an explanation but I just adore the idea so dearly and my logical little brain would love to have an explanation you see you see, I just find it cute he’d be named after her

(Oh also the name can technically translate to ‘stranger’, which is just fun to me, irrelevant but still fun)

This is more just world building lore for the (Sh)Arc AU than anything, because Canon Faunus stuff is lame.

Question I know greatest grandad arc is unbelievably old but can he still fight? I imagine he has a vast amount of aura and well he got old in a job where most don't get old

GG-Arc: Then The War Started ...

GG-Arc: We used Valean Weapons. It should've stayed their fight, and we refused to get our tools bloodied by the ways of humans. It;s why Crocea Mors is a Shortsword.

GG-Arc: After we were caught by Vale, the king brought me onboard. Appreciated my tactics, made me a general. I trained soldiers. Eventually the war was over.

GG-Arc: I ... Being a General means you don't fight. Your strategy is too important to risk on the front lines. IN the Negotiations for what would happen to the Displaced Faunus Nations, I suggested we get some land to send survivors - Menagerie they called.

GG-Arc: I didn't know what the word meant. I was just happy that there was a temporary settlement.

GG-Arc: ... Temporary my ass.

GG-Arc: They called me a hero. I Believed it for a while.

GG-Arc: I Didn't get old in a profession where you die young. I got old by getting out of a Profession where you die young.

GG-Arc: ...

GG-Arc: It's all just stories now.

GG-Arc: There's no such thing as a Hero in anything other than fairytales. Heroes save everyone. They make it home, and live happily ever after.

GG-Arc: We only have the Heroic.

GG-Arc: ... The heroic die young, saving others, and often failing.

GG-Arc: I couldn't save my people, so I'm not a hero, I never died Young, so I'm not heroic.

GG-Arc: You kids need to learn to just be people. It's the best way to live.
