Movie Verse Super Paper Mario AU
Given how long my SPM comic has gotten, and the fact that it's about to become more obvious how much the story deviates from the original (particularly with DK filling the role of Bowser as a hero), I figured now would be a good time to put together a rough outline of the plot points in my AU.
This isn't required reading for my comic, this is just for everyone who wants some extra context and info about how my version of events differ from the original Super Paper Mario.
The story starts out with Mario and Luigi at home. Luigi is talking about how peaceful things have been lately, but unlike in SPM he has absolutely no desire to see this change.
Meanwhile, Mario is trying to pretend he isn't a little bored, and is quietly dropping suggestions that the two of them go off and explore some faraway kingdom to break up the monotony.
Suddenly, Toad bursts in in a panic, and The Mario Brothers are ushered to the castle as Toad hurriedly explains that Princess Peach has disappeared.
The three enter the crime scene: her bedroom shows signs of a brief struggle, but otherwise there is no clue to what might have happened except a letter that reads "If you wish to see the princess again, meet me within Bowser's castle" written in unfamiliar handwriting.
Despite this disappearance not matching Bowser's style at all, Toad and The Mario Brothers have little choice but to believe he has something to do with this. They decide to take the bait.
They enlist the help of Donkey Kong in the rescue mission, figuring it'd be best to have the extra muscle given how likely it is this is a trap (plus the karts are a more reliable form of transportation compared to the warp pipes.)
Despite the addition of a giant gorilla to the team, Mario & co. successfully sneak into Bowser's Castle undetected. The guards don't seem to be on particularly high alert. Stranger still, they can't find the princess anywhere.
When Bowser eventually discovers and confronts them, Mario explains the situation and presents the mysterious letter they found. Bowser is dumbfounded, but insists that whatever happened to Peach can wait until after he kills them.
Before things escalate any further, Count Bleck appears from a portal in sort of a rough recreation of this scene:
Bleck is pleased to see everyone gathered together, and presents the captive Princess "as promised."
Seeing this, Mario immediately leaps to attack the count despite Luigi's desperate plea for him to wait. Like in the game, this causes Mario to get knocked out. Soon after, everyone is sucked away into the dimensional portal except the unconscious Mario.
Mario awoken by Tippi, who– after brief introductions– teleports him away to meet Merlon so they can work together to stop Count Bleck with the help of The Light Prognosticus.
Mario isn't sure how he feels about the idea of prophecies... he doesn't really buy into the idea, despite how much he matches the physical description in the book... but if playing along means Tippi will help him stop Count Bleck and save everyone, he'll do it.
Meanwhile, everyone else awakens to find themselves at Peach and Bowser's wedding. Toad, Donkey Kong, and Luigi do their best to interfere as Nastasia hypnotizes Peach into saying "I Do." Ultimately, Mario's allies fail, and the marriage unleashes the chaos heart.
From there, things continue much like in the game, albeit with a few changes:
As described before, Bowser's role is filled by Donkey Kong. Bowser, in the meantime, aligns himself with Count Bleck to spare his own army from being brainwashed, biding his time until he can usurp the count and gain control of the chaos heart.
Toad is part of Mario’s group too. He isn't mentioned in the light or dark prognosticus, but he is determined to help out nonetheless (and actually does a pretty good job.)
Unlike in SPM, Luigi stays brainwashed the entire time. The first time Mr. L is defeated, Mario and his allies try to grapple him and drag him back to Flipside so Merlon can take a look at him, but Dimentio interfered and "rescued" Mr. L before they could manage it.
O'Chunks, Mimi, Dimentio, and Mr. L work together as a unit after failing their respective attempts to stop the heroes, leading to a couple of instances of all-out battle royale between Bleck's minions and Team Mario. Bleck's Minions, as dysfunctional as they are, don't succeed in stopping the heroes from obtaining any pure hearts despite their combined efforts.
The ending is where things really get switched up:
The main four, having gathered all the pure hearts, start heading to Castle Bleck to destroy the chaos heart.
In the frenzy of everyone preparing for the confrontation, Bowser... knowing that The Dark Prognosticus prophesied that The Man In Green would be the one to bring darkness to all... draws Mr. L away from the group and tries to kill him.
Dimentio, however, saves Mr. L, and working together they successfully incapacitate Bowser enough for Dimentio to send him back to his own dimension.
This rescue– plus the earlier rescue from the clutches of Mario– causes Mr. L to place misplaced faith in Dimentio.
Seeing this, Dimentio comes clean and asks Mr. L to join him in usurping The Count. He lies that Count Bleck has no intention of creating new worlds after destroying the old ones, and offers Mr. L a portion of his own power if he agrees to assist in making sure the universe goes on.
In my version of things, you have to agree to a partnership in order to get implanted with a floro sprout. It's sort of a contractual thing... one can't just plant something in your brain while you're unconscious.
At this point, Mr. L trusts him enough to tentatively agree to his terms and let him in. This is how Dimentio manages to get the sprout seed inside Mr. L's head.
Sure enough, after Mario, DK, Peach, and Toad defeat Count Bleck and his Minions... and just as Tippi begins to get through to the disheartened Blumiere... Dimentio and Mr. L swoop in to swipe the chaos heart and teleport away.
Mario, while rushing to grab his brother, is the only one who manages to get a glimpse of where they teleported to before both Mr. L and Dimentio disappear completely.
He keeps this information to himself as he and Count Bleck's forces hold a truce, tending to the wounded Nastasia and discussing what to do next.
During this meeting, Count Bleck finally answers the question that had been the minds of everyone on Team Mario: why brainwash Luigi? Count Bleck admits the prophecy in The Dark Prognosticus, explaining that he planned on using Luigi to destroy all worlds. What's more, he insists that if they really want to put an end to the chaos heart and the threat it poses, they will have to kill Luigi as well.
This sparks a heated debate. While everyone's shouting Mario says nothing, but silently slinks away from the group to catch up with Luigi and Dimentio on his own.
He knows that the two have merely gone into a chamber deeper within the castle. He knows where to look. If he can just get through to his brother, maybe he can be saved...
Which leads us right up to where my comic begins.

They would definitely be faced with difficult to swallow thoughts but I feel like as to 'why' would be slightly different, close to this but not exactly.
So let's say that Mimi and O'Chunks finally have a suspicion about Mr.L, so they decide to subtly put him through a test or two and compare results to the ones of Bowsers brainwashed minions. Unfortunately for them his answers basically align with the rest and it's officially proven. He's brainwashed!
This creates two problems:
Not necessarily the issue of 'Did they join the Count willingly?' but 'Would the Count have them brainwashed too?'. It'd be easy to tell that Nastasia hasn't meddled with their heads simply by the fact they remember how/why they joined but most importantly that they can recall their past life before Bleck while the Koopas, Goombas and Lugi can't and were made to avoid questioning this. Originally both of them thought it's just the troops that get this treatment which was understandable because it'd be difficult to assemble an obedient and loyal army. With the case of Mr.L specifically it has proven that even the 'higher ranks' are not safe from having their minds wiped. The gang is practically like a family at this point and if one that's part of this family was put into place, what does that mean for them? They would never question the Counts actions, they want him to be happy but... it's a scary thought that someone you trust so much could just one day doubt you out of nowhere and despite everything you went through together erase your memory. They want to believe that the Count knows that they care for him and would never consider betrayal in their life but it's difficult to ignore this lingering thought...
And now there's Mr.L the person. Despite some differences and quarrels Mimi and O'Chunks by now would have started seeing Mr.L as somewhat of a friend and have slowly begun accepting him as the new member of the before mentioned 'family'. However with the new aquired information this friendship feels uncertain, and in a way nonexistent since the day he wakes up it's all gone. They've come to know the persona that is Mr.L, not the actual person, and they never will if everything goes according to plan. There forever will be a stranger underneath this facade, even if they'd spend every day hanging out together. It's as if one would talk to a computer avatar, which was built and programmed by someone, repeating what was allowed by the creator and listed in the code. Despite everything it's not a real person. Mimi and O'Chunks would either try to make the most of it with the hope that this is how he'll stay forever or they'd start avoiding him because he clearly wasn't brought in to socialise. They just don't want to get more attached, as hard as it may be.

Hii! Really love your art! Your designs for the mario characters are super lovely. I was wondering tho, what drives your dimentio? Why does he, like, destroy nearly every kingdom he comes across? Why does he want to become king of all worlds when he doesn't seem to mind the 'subservient' role?
Hope you're having a wonderful day!
Okay so, this probably will get extremely long ksajhd
Dimentio is unconsciously reenacting what the Pixl Queen, or his sister Shadoo, did. After getting driven to madness by being resurrected in a vessel with the Dark Prognosticus, she brainwashed every Pixl, formed an army and tried to destroy the Ancients for their selfishness and supposed egocentrism, so she is technically destroying a kingdom.
I never worked much in the time-line of events, but before all of that happened, Dimentio and his mother Illuminata died, because Merloo, the father and great magician, was researching the Dark Prognosticus and one day he tries a spell and everything goes wrong.
A recurring theme in the family story is how everyone of them had a tragedy, the father gets obsessed with the Dark Prognosticus and kills both his wife and son in an accident, the mother dies protecting the son, the son is cursed with immortality by being bound to the book, and the sister gets ill because of the dark energy the house had, dies, is brought back, dies again, now by her brother's own hands, gets cursed and also locked away in the Pits.
You can say that Shadoo and Dimentio are the ones who suffered the most, and depending on how you see it, yeah they are, but imagine living the rest of your life thinking that you ruined everything, like, EVERYTHING, because a book was "that" important. That's why Merloo ends up helping with the Light Prognosticus, but also completely alone, as if you see in the game, he's the only sage who, apparently, has no descendants.
Before I forget, Pixl Queen Shadoo had the DP, when Dimentio "kills" her, he takes it, tries to protect it from evil, but reads it in morbid curiosity of what is written there, people steal it from him and then he starts getting insane, just like Bleck. ^v^
In conclusion, Dimentio is traumatized, but instead of having a chance to really think about his past and not commit any crimes, he has the DP talking in his head and leaving every other memory to the side, which is why he has kind of an amnesia and why he knows roughly where the thing is. In other words, the book makes you go crazy, and after living so many years and so many deaths I think that the person is very likely to just go apeshit after some point.
Ah, and about the thing with being a servant and wanting to be king at the same time, I don't take what he said in that part too literally, because I do believe that his motivation was to make a perfect world without all the rotten evil people in it, that would explain why he doesn't like the Count, Dimentio may know he's bad too, but he's being bad for a greater or purer reason. The role of servant is mostly just a strategy to be seen as someone who is vulnerable and eager to please, a perfect lie to hide the strings he's holding.
I hope this is a good answer to your question! As always I think that I gave more useless information than a direct response. akjsdh
Have a nice day, or night, wherever you are! :)
Edit: Thank you so much for all the compliments!!! Dumb Camprell was so focused on trying to explain the shitshow that is his fanlore that he forgot completely about what you said first!! But know that it's always one of the best things to see in an ask! :3

SPM Count Bleck's Army Height Chart.
The fulfillers of the Dark Prognosticus! This sheet has gone through about 4 revisions because I couldn't settle on a single look for everyone lol But I'm finally satisfied with them!
Some character notes. These are mostly so I can remember them for the individual character bios when I make those: The Count's eyes still change color based on his health(?), and his "tail" is actually just a cloudy wisp of sorts. It works like the tail wisp of a ghost. Timpani's butterfly hair clip emotes. It droops when she's sad and perks up when happy, much like how Tippi does in Pixl form. Nastasia is the only character to not get majorly overhauled. Her glasses also emote like eyes to some extent, just like they do in game. Mimi "freckles" are eyes. I also drew up every alternate outfit she has in game, but I'll probably make a separate post to show those off. Dimentio's poncho was designed with wearability in mind. You can see where it would overlap and clip. I imagine the bells on his hat would give off a muted jingling sound as well. Mr. L is literally just the same. Can't mess with perfection lol O'Chunks' arms still does the floating sections, but it's only when he punches or reaches. His lazy eye is caused by some injury he got while being a general. You can even see the remnants of a scar on his eyebrow.

Is team Bleck superstitious?
In honor of Friday the 13th, here are some superstition headcanons for each member of team Bleck!!
Count Bleck is slightly superstitious. He used to believe in a lot of the superstitions from the Tribe of Darkness, but after meeting Timpani and learning about life outside of the Tribe he realized that a lot of the things the Tribe believed in didn't make sense. The only one he still believes in is the full moon bringing bad luck.
Nastasia is not superstitious, it just doesn't make sense to her. She does not even notice things that have to do with superstition. She does feel bad for black cats, though. They don't deserve the hate.
O'Chunks is superstitious, even if he swears he's not. He's a bit on edge on Friday the 13th, as if he's expecting something bad to happen even though he knows better. He doesn't pay enough attention to the lunar cycle to notice the full moon, but when Mimi points it out he gets a little bit nervous. He would never walk under a ladder and when he accidentally breaks a mirror he has to try really hard not to freak out. He's also picked up a few other superstitions from being in the army. The only thing he doesn't worry about is black cats. How can something so small and cute be bad luck?
Mimi isn't superstitious, but she loves the ominous aesthetic. On Friday the 13th she dresses up extra spooky and goes out of her way to do everything she can think of to break superstitions. She breaks mirrors, walks under ladders, pets black cats, etc. She also likes the full moon, but it's less of a rare occasion so she doesn't "celebrate" as much. She does wear a moon-themed outfit though.
Dimentio is also not superstitious, but he loves to mess with people who are. On the full moon he will sneakily set up things to go wrong throughout the castle, and on Friday the 13th he only doubles his efforts.
Mr. L doesn't believe in any of the typical superstitions, but he has developed his own. He's got a whole list of things that he avoids because otherwise Brobot is totally going to catch fire again. Half of these things are Dimentio's fault, but L doesn't know that.

O'chunks
His past: He was a general in the army of a country. He was a respected warrior who crossed the lines of the enemy with a thousand men. But he was betrayed by one of his advisers. All his men were taken prisoner and he fell into the plush hands of the count. He recruited him when she was in the grip of despair and disgrace and brainwashed her with the help of Natasia. Carson claimed that Bleck made O'Chunks feel gradually worse until he finally pledged allegiance to Count Bleck, though he legitimately appreciates his loyalty.
In the events of Spm: He is fought a total of four times in the game, making him the most encountered boss in the game. He speaks with an exaggerated Scottish accent and his bushy ginger beard and eagerness to brawl are both Scottish stereotypes. However, the fact that his name begins with "O'" is an Irish tradition. Other translations use the Scottish patronym "Mc" instead. In the Italian version, he has a stereotypical Roman accent, and in the Spanish version, he speaks with a strong Andalusian accent.
O'Chunks is rather dimwitted and also has an eagerness to fight. He is very loyal to Count Bleck and will do anything to prove himself. He is shown to love Nastasia, but while she does not spurn his affection, she is in love with her boss instead. He is also shown to have a sense of honor, shown when he holds up the falling ceiling in Castle Bleck to save the heroes. O'Chunks is sometimes slow to comprehend things, such as when it took him a bit to realize that the Hero of Light was Count Bleck's enemy. When brainwashed by Dimentio, he becomes very zombie-like and can only shout out the names of vegetables. Whenever Mario is thrown by O'Chunks, he makes one of several boasting gestures towards him, surrounded by a red and black burst, suggesting that he is a show-off.
If the player decides to face O'Chunks as Peach during his second fight, then he will not treat her as roughly, suggesting that he has a more chivalrous side.
Additional information:
Catch Card: 190
HP Max: 100
Attack: 4
Defense:
Score: 8000
Card description It's O'Chunks, the count's hulking, wide-eyed henchman! Word is, the count saved his life. Now he owes him big.
Tattle: That's O'Chunks. He's even bigger and stronger now... How is that even possible? Max HP is 100 and Attack is 4. He can now perform aerial attacks... When you see him in the air, take evasive action... Just keep moving to avoid him. Well, Bowser, now is your chance to settle it with O'Chunks...
Quotes:
'So yer the lad stickin' his 'stachy in me boss's business!"
"Maria, 'ey? 'Tis an odd name, yeh, but yeh can bet yer bebby I'll remember that!"
"CHUNKS AWAY!"
"JUNIOR?! C'mere un' I'll introduce yeh to Fist Jr. an' his wee pal, Slappie!"
"Whut?! That makes as much sense as a beef an' broccoli sandwich!"
"Warrior rule # 1: 'Never fight on an empty stomach! 'Tis Madness!'"
"This world be pretty nice, what with all the peace an' whatnot... I like it!"
(A/N): And I have nothing more to say about it :)

I think what makes Super Paper Mario stand out from many of the other plot-based Mario games is the motivation of the villains. (And no, I have not played all of them, but I'm familiar enough with the major titles to take a leap with this idea here).
You can write a laundry list of bad guys who have wanted to take over the world: Smithy and his gang want to reforge it (literally) in their image. The Shadow Queen wants to rule over a dark, new reality. Cackletta wants the Beanstar to fulfill her crazed wishes of destruction and power. Antasma wants command through the Dream World. Princess Shroob wants, and maybe even needs, to a degree, to siphon off the life force of the Toads in an interesting twist on an alien species' resource issues. In fact, one of the few antagonists we encounter who is not 100% fueled by power-lust is King Boo, who walks a tighrope between a pedestrian desire to rule reality via ghost army and a need to exact revenge, a tightrope he eventually falls off of decidedly in the direction of bloodthirsty vengeance directed specifically at Luigi. (He built, bought, or at least took over a whole-ass, multi-level hotel for this express purpose, not only luring Luigi into this trap, but roping his brother, his friend, and some random Toad acquaintances into the whole ordeal, as well - which is categorically insane and the topic of another rant for another day).
But Count Bleck doesn't want power for power's sake. He merely wants to use the Chaos Heart to end reality. There's no throne he covets, no crown he searches for - he desires only utter annihilation of everything, including himself. It's such a nihilistic goal and is so striking in comparison to the other enemies we encounter in and around the Mushroom Kingdom. Even Dimentio, whose initial plan was to seize power and reshape the world in his own corrupted image - even Dimentio chooses this final destruction over the promise of false power in the end.
How do you fight against someone who seeks death as their ultimate goal? It's such a depressing and fascinating concept in a Mario game, of all things, and is one of the reasons I personally see SPM as a kind of climax to the events of many of the preceding games, including SM: RPG and Thousand Year Door, which you can see as the "prequels," as it were, to SPM, if you look at these games as existing along a timeline that began with the creation of the Pixls and the Tribe of Ancients and ends with Bleck and Dimentio's defeat at the threshold of apocalypse.
Anyway, I'm starting to come up with some lore ideas that would possibly tie these three games together in a slight AU where the Bleck gang would show up in 7 Stars and Geno's role is extended past the restoration of the Star Road.
#hello there#i'm just trying to work some ideas out here ignore me#as i'm distracting myself from actual real-person responsibilities by creating a lore timeline between these three games#it WORKS though!#i swear!#also spm is just so...depressing in so many ways#amazing fucking game#smb meta#ranting about nothing in general#also yes i'm sure there's at least one other game where the antagonist just wants to blow everything up so you are welcome to @ me w/ that#hahahahahahahhahahaha

The Villains' lore doesn't entirely fit?
Does anyone else think that the Villains in Super Paper Mario are great, but that their lore doesn't exactly.....Fit in the game too well?
Let me explain-
Count Bleck, even though there is foreshadowing and clear build up to his relationship with Timpani, I thought it was a bit odd that none of the dimensions that were visited wasn't, like, the remains of the dark tribe from when Blumiere had opened up the Dark Prognositcus. Or that there wasn't any location in the game visited that had Tippi recollect a memory of familiarity-
The other minions' lore doesn't really fit with any of the locations visited in the game either in my opinion- O'Chunks lore being an army general who was betrayed is very interesting for his character, but I wouldn't know if he were from any of the dimensions that we visit in the game as there isn't any link to any form of 'war', as an example, in any of the present locations in the game. He probably comes from a different dimension outside of the places we visit in the game, but that arises questions as to why Flipside has doors to only a few dimensions and what counts as a dimension and what counts as a world in the first place. This also makes me ask why the villains can't have come from the dimensions visited in this game to make the game feel that smaller bit more complete?
Mimi's story is also a bit odd, with that failed pixel experiment possibility or creation of a witch possibility. Neither of those are even alluded to in any place of the narrative, so... There's only Carson to go off. It would have been interesting to come across a potential place of a 'witch' so that what Carson is saying could have more merit, but it doesn't matter too much.
Dimentio makes sense to be entirely ambiguous, it's in character for him, but then you have all of the Pixl Uprising lore and the lore of the magician. It's....It's all great lore but it's so peculiar that there is NOTHING about this lore alluded to in ANY other place of the game other than Carson's bar- (To be fair though, if one went by the "Dimentio is Merloo" theory, or even if you went for the theory that he's one of the descendants, there's actually a bit of evidence for this outside of Carson's bar in the Gate between Flipside and Flopside where you can read that Merloo was a magician who could control dimensions, but I digress.)
Nastasia's lore is also strange. The 'Of bats and men' story- It's...Extremely random. It links well to when Nastasia says she'll stay by Bleck's side as he saved her, but the whole being a bat and becoming human is....strange, as it really feels like it came from nowhere.
To conclude, I love Super Paper Mario very much, though I feel that the villains stories aren't....Very well engraved into the plot, the stories seem like they were added in separately, very good stories, yes, but...Not really connected to any of the established locations. Carson is the main source of evidence to go by-
I may be missing something, but I thought it was a bit odd that the stories of the Villains weren't at least a little bit linked to any of the worlds visited- Maybe there are some links and I don't remember any, but this was just a meagre observation I had made.
Anyway, have a nice day! Apologies for the long discussion. I'd love to hear any thoughts on the subject matter.

Random Super Paper Mario headcanon because it doesn’t fit any of my WIPs so might as well say it here: the way Nastasia hypnotizes people is by taking some feelings or desires that the person already possesses and amplifying them to the max. So it’s less about brainwashing and more about bringing out a specific side of the person targeted.
For Bowser’s army, she used their desire to fight and win, to the point of them forgetting their loyalty and siding with the strongest leader around instead.
For Luigi, it was the resentment he has over being overshadowed by his brother, especially since I hc the Paper Mario series as taking place after Mario and Luigi in which the Luigi bullying is at its worst. Hence why Mr. L is such a boastful asshole talking about how amazing he is, or even the fact he calls his robot his brother as he would have negative feelings associated to a possible real sibling, hence the desire to “replace” him with a robot (note that I don’t think Luigi resents Mario himself but instead resents his situation with everyone preferring his brother over him, but he doesn’t hold it against Mario himself, especially since I see Mario as the one hyping him up and defending him against criticism the most).
On that note, I could see a version of SPM in which Luigi actually remembers who he is but is still willing to fight for Count Bleck, or maybe Nastasia changed some of his memories to make him think he and Mario had a terrible fight that led Luigi to Bleck instead of the whole kidnapping wedding (I may or may not have listened to Caleb Hyles’ cover of “Other Friends” while thinking about the first encounter with Mr. L 😅)
For Peach, I hc that her and Bowser are ex-lovers who had a bad breakup, and after several years of no contact Bowser needed some land, kidnapped her as blackmail, realized he still liked her and the whole kidnapping situation started. So for the wedding, Nastasia exemplified whatever romantic feelings Peach might have left, bringing her back to a time she would’ve been more than happy to marry Bowser. This could also be why Peach was able to fight back as much, since between how long it’s been and all his horrible actions, her possible remaining feelings for Bowser would be either very minimal or buried deep down, or both, hence requiring more effort for the hypnosis to work. Granted I like to think her fighting the hypnosis is also due to her being terrified of being used again the same way she had been by the Shadow Queen.
And on a related note, since we’re talking different hypnosis, I could see Fawful’s hypnosis work by making all the soldier’s memories of Bowser get replaced with memories of Cackletta or himself depending on which game we’re talking about. Basically the memories remain the same but instead of Bowser being there it’s Cackletta/Fawful, hence the army blindly following. Though it does raise the question of some brainwashed people acting “robotic” in Bowser’s Inside Story, along with the fact that the Koopalings can forget their own father while some random Goomba remembers him in Minion’s Quest.

question in relation to blumiere/count bleck: how do you imagine he met the others? any specific headcanons or based off the game?
like many people, i imagine he met his team during his search for timpani.
i do love the theory that nastasia was saved as a bat stuck in a trap by blumiere. and later coming back to him and dedicating her devotion to him out of love and loyalty. reminds me of the first half of a japanese folktale i read back in middle school. crane's return of a favor i believe it’s called? i wouldn’t be surprised if that was intentional. except i guess it’s angsty for a different reason. that being unrequited love on nastasia’s end. also, weird parallel to blumi being saved by timpani and falling in love??? what is it with this game and someone almost fucking dying and falling in love with the person who saved them?
regardless, i believe he nursed her back to health and the two of them become close friends. hell i like the idea of blumiere considering nastasia a best friend.
as for o’chunks, i go along with the basic common agreed backstory that he used to be a general of an army from some faraway land. with one of his advisors sadly betraying him and thus causing the fall of his army to an enemy team. i do hc the fact that blumiere was a manipulate dickhead with o’chunks. i do find it disturbing that it’s implied that he preyed on his depression and helplessness to get him on the team. but hey honestly, it makes it more interesting, adds onto blumiere’ s character, and weirdly fits for him in my hc for him. you gotta remember all of bleck’s team is just a squad of mentally ill bozos relying on each other.
i sort of combine mimi’s theories altogether to make one backstory. i do remember someone proposing something interesting. isn’t it strange how francis built a “pixl” identical to tippi? that was basically a robot? she still has pixl qualities though. what if the witch mentioned in carson’s stories is related to francis in some way? i do believe the witch could’ve been experimenting making some sort of rogue pixl related to shape-shifting abilities. what about the robot part i mentioned though? maybe the witch was also into robotics??? look i’m trying my best here man.
regardless, i think mimi’s true origins is hard to fully decipher. i can imagine that even she doesn’t fully know or likes to talk about it due to horrible identity issues and lost sense of self. i’d like to think she ran away from her origin place, wherever that may be, with a dazed and disoriented mind. blumiere just happened to find her in a guarded off forest somewhere, and it just kind of took off from there. i wouldn’t say he preyed on her psychologically like he did with o’chunks, considering mimi just wanted a place to stay and have some sense of belonging somewhere.
oh, dimentio, i gotta actually talk about him on this blog now.
yeah this little shit just kinda came across the gang one day. i can imagine blumiere being like “erm okay what a creep” until he read in the dark prognosticus that there was a figure like him involved in the prophecy, so only until then was he let in. i like to imagine at some point dimentio put them in dimension D to show them what he could do, which just intrigued blumiere even more. (because seriously what exactly is dimension D and why does it deez /slap)
as for his origins, hoo boy.
so carson mentions how the magician that created the pixls had a family, right? and how he had a family and all? and they all succumbed to some sort of fate. except the son? i know it’s mildly implied that dimentio can be this mysterious character, or at the very least related to the magician SOMEHOW. i do find the obscurity of dimentio’s origins fun though. although i do agree that dimentio is somehow related to the pixls and the magician like many people do.
and we already know about mr.l in game, so i won’t talk about him
thanks for the ask! this was really fun to talk about!

The Sonic Death Battle side of the fanbase made it worse for Doctor Eggmans chances to beat Bowser when they begged the shows creators to composite Eggmans army with Ian Flynn's idw comic writing feats which is far worse when it gives Bowser an excuse to summon his Paper Mario self with the Star Rod from another universe which he canonically has in his magial book from Mario and Luigi Paper Jam. Bowser Jr in Bowser's Inside Story Minions spin off even shows The Koopa Army have anti mind control medication to resist the Phantom Ruby.
The kind of medication you would find from an Adam West Batman Show like Shark Repellent. The animator thought himself a narcissist thinking Eggman vs Bowser will be a great game of chess. How is this chess when you are willing to give Bowser the dreamstone which according to versus battle contains 100000 universes. Which is ridiculous when dreams are formed only in the range from the first person point of view can create from memory. I can abide by dream world an entire universe. But say its population can make them is inconsistent to how Mario was able to still beat Bowser in his boss fight.
I keep reading Bowser should be allowed the Pure Hearts. These idiots do not realize Count Bleck and Timpani were the true chosen ones in the prophecy who were able to activate them with their love and not Mario, not Peach, not Bowser. Bowser is attacking Eggmans army because Death Battle wants him to for contrived selfish reasons and wouldn't be able to use the Pure Hearts. The Star Rod I know only mostly gives Bowser physical buffs and Nintendo did awful writing that convince the fandom because of Kammy Koopa's magic that enhance the Star Rod Invulnerability shield for a power boost. DJTiki thought this would be a great match up and he is the one animating it in spite of it being a stomp in Bowser's favor. When it's just Bowser is Doctor Doom. Doctor Eggman is Lex Luthor. The battle is just going to be an all out army that will at least be more consistent than animationrewind's crap total war battles especially with how animationrewind mistreated and outright disrespected the megaman characters even letting multiple sonic characters not shadow, silver, and sonic use the chaos emeralds multiple times like Amy Rose did.
Sonic comic fans are a fucking cancer. A malignant tumor that chokes out and overrides everything else.
Frankly Death Battle can have them. They're equally insufferable.

Demons Unleashed ~ Origins of the Ink Demon Gaiden Pt.2 ~
[Shadow Army - Masamichi Amano]
Dimentio : Seven Lights...Eight hearts...and thirteen Darknesses. Oh what a fine discovery that this world and the others had to split the spoils from that bamboozling Count Bleck, the Will of Shinra Kusakabe had made every human or witch as a pawn to destroy the other. I despise that mustache man in red for ruining my plans. Perhaps, the boy who saved the world in the Ohkuboverse 1000 years ago, was somehow this world's creator and spread his influence into the Real World. Ah, yes the boy who was one of the eight pillars that are same as the same of the Eight Pure hearts, were uses sacrifices as keys to the door to darkness, this entity has been using the hearts of Shinra and his people in order to create a new planet for all heartlesses shrouded within the darkness. That entity is Demon Vibe. But after Shinra manifested and created a new world, the evangelist that he and everyone in his world fought was nothing more than an astral puppet from that manipulated his entire world to be destroyed with the simple meaning of spontaneous human combustion caused by Firaga, a technique that was used by the Black Mages.
Man in Hazmat Suit : My lord, the vessels of the eight pure hearts have finally awakened.
Dimentio : Good. Shall we greet them into this "Real world" of ours?
Man in Hazmat Suit : That's correct, sir. But just assure that there are only four of them, they're female vessels of the eight pure hearts, we don't why the Evangelist wanted to use his people's hearts keys to opening the Darkness.
Dimentio : That's exactly what I need to hear. Wake up, Eight vessels of the Pure hearts, or I say Eight Pillars from Shinra's World. Awaken yourselves from your 1000 years of death.
Amaterasu : Where...Where are we?
Haumea : What's going on? Who are you?
Inca Kasugatani : I can't even remember a thing.
Sumire : What on earth is this place?
Inca Kasugatani : How long have we've died?
Dimentio : It's simple. This is the Real World that you all have woken up, ever since Demon Vibe used your hearts as keys to open the door to darkness, the one who manipulated into destroying Shinra's world and the Ohkuboverse was the One Winged Angel Sephiroth. The evangelist you've been under working with was just a only a mere puppet.
Inca Kasugatani : You mean...
Amaterasu : We've been puppets to Demon Vibe's will?
Sumire : Oh, I've been a miserable nun. If it wasn't for that Sephiroth person, we would've soaked in Shinra's blood after the Time Eater annihilated us for being under the will of Demon Vibe right before Shinra spreaded his influence.
*images flashing*
Haumea : I remember, that was the day when we were lost to the Time Eater! We all died and it's all of Sephiroth's fault for using me as a tool! I felt so ashamed for what I've done to everything and for ruining Shinra's life! I should've apologized to him! Onegai...let us forgive Shinra-kun.
Inca Kasugatani : Please, we wanted to forgive Shinra for what we have done.
Amaterasu : You gotta believe us, it's women that is the ohkuboverse's problem and not men! I'm sorry for how we treated each other like pawns in a corrupt game!
Inca Kasugatani : If only that...that we could love shinra back, the same thing that he wanted to give us something that isn't hate.
Dimentio : Fair words, mother of witchkind, since I brought you back to life after the 1000 years of Shinra's death, I decided to give you all to earn your freedom like a good wild creature. There's nothing wrong with the fear of shaming yourself with those bodies of bare skin. If you want to apologize for ruining the devil's life, then forgiveness is what you needed after that. Forgiveness and kindness is the option to forget the sins or crimes that humanity grudges against. You there, put them in the cultivated storage tanks for transportation. I got a pair of two mustache losers in overalls to give them a fair greeting.
Inca, Amterasu, Haumea : [together] Shinra-kun...Onegai...Yurushite.
"Meanwhile..."
Erazor Djinn : The World is mine! I cannot be denied by that filthy rat. WHYYYYYYY!?!
Dream Sonic : I told you I'm not a rat! (traps Erazor in his light) I'm a hedgehog! (blows out fire) Phew! I knew it! I felt good for saying but for one thing for you, Shahra. Just grant me wish, I wish for a mountain of handkerchiefs.
[Worth a Chance - Steve Conte, Fumie Kumatani]
(a rain of handkerchiefs falls down) Now, just let yourself cry. As much as you need to. You'll have plenty of handkerchiefs to help you through it.
Dream Shahra : Oh thank you, Sonic. I would use plenty of them to help me through it.
Dream Sonic : Oh yes, thank you indeed.
*BELL DING*
Sonic : Hold on I'll go check with the Piano. Composer, have you been messing with the Piano lately?
Fumie Kumatani : No that wasn't me.
Sonic : Then what's the...(clock ringing) Hey, that sounded like a clock ringing. Why is there son
Fumie Kumatani : That's because you need to wake yourself up, Sonic.
Sonic : Uhh, what was that?
Fumie Kumatani : I said...(with Tails' voice) Sonic, wake up!
[Party Dress - Fumie Kumatani]
Sonic : (wakes up from dream) Huh? Ah man, it was only a dream? Way to go for having this thing ruining my perfect dream. (stops clock) Alright, Tails. I'm up. Now that it is the year 2007 I finally get a chance to meet with Shahra and saved the Arabian Nights from that mean Erazor Djinn.
Tails : Good, Well I guess the 06 was seriously not having the greatest time, I mean a girl saved a world from one-eyed star entity who took body of her ancestor that ruled the galaxy before the birth of humanity. But it's a good thing that Sonic Rivals is canon thanks to the to Sony's greatest handheld console, the Playstation Portable.
Sonic : Otherwise know as PSP, since Sonci 06 was retconned by failures, Silver managed to come back from the future he finds out that Blaze was another dimension or something, I guess it's probably her world since sealed away that fire demon that burned down mobius 200 years ago. All of this Sonic 06 nonesense was only just a retcon of retcons, of course that was the time that I got a kiss from a human princess and It was so embarrassing.
Tails : Like what?
Sonic : Well...
(cuts to Sonic getting suck faced by elise)
Sonic : [muffled yelling]
Tails : Oh this did not go well.
Elise : AHH!!! I GOT RABIES!!!
[Super Sonic theme plays]
Amy : GET OFF OUR MAN, BEEYOTCH! (the girls starts beating up elise)
Sonic : (to the viewers) I don't know what's creepier, the fact she made out with an animal or a corpse.
*flashback ends*
Sonic : Oh yeah, that's right. Some recolored doofus shot me down in the back and got away with a second-degree manslaughter, thankfully I never died, also that kiss from a human princess in my mouth is not what expected, so I decided to use some mouthwash. Anyways, what's happening in 2007 now after I defeated that Genie who was using Shaula Gorgon's heartless?
Tails : Well, I heard the news that they're saying the Chao were kidnapped by Dr. Eggman Nega, don't you know who Eggman Nega is, he's not also clone from Blaze's World, but a descendant from future that is Silver's World. He kidnapped all of them.
Sonic : Who knew that he would make a great comeback, I knew something like that would easily thought of a Chao-napping, that's right. Chao-napping by Dr. Eggman Nega! And what did you find about. Is it something from before and after the arabian nights.
Tails : Yep. I found a book about a demon made out of fire called the Ifrit, it's not the one that Erazor summoned, it's the name of a fire demon that is a relative to the Flames of disaster during the 06 story, the story that you retconned it. Although, The Ifrit and the Flames of disaster aren't related by Blaze's powers, but it also can gain more power by finding something edible to eat. Food of course.
Sonic : I hope it's not it's brunch, but what could be more devasting we gotta go find Eggman Nega, he's running wild of stealing chao. Let's get ourselves ready!
Tails : Right away!
[Race to Win ~ Title ver. ~ - Ted Poley, Jun Senoue]
Sonic : So once we find Eggman Nega, we will put that world-destroying ifrit a taste of medicine! I'm sure the eggman we know is not behind all of this! But it's gotta be the same man we encountered since the Black Arms invasion. Luckily, everyone is involved of finding this Eggman Nega fella that is stealing chao! I wonder who could it be this time? And I heard that he wants a rematch with Blaze from her as well!
Tails : True that! Let's get going! A new adventure! (the two runs off)
Sonic : 2007, let's start a new year, and this time it will be good!

I love it.
Also the:
Grudges rooted in being betrayed (Shen with his parents, Dimentio with Count Bleck)
In the same breath also commit betrayals against others (Shen with the wolf general, Dimentio with Team Bleck)
Motivations to obtain power they feel they’re owed/entitled to and more (Shen his throne birthright with the new ambition for ruling all of China, Dimentio his individual perfect world that bloomed into becoming the king of all worlds)
Are involved in prophecies wherein their actions taken in relation to what was foretold, along with their hubris and dismissal of their opposition’s ideals, brings about their downfall (Shen’s genocide of the pandas in effort to change his foretold fate set into motion Po standing against him and his death in continuing to reject inner peace; Dimentio’s reliance on/believing the prophecy to be infallible and his disregard towards the power of love led to him underestimating the Pure Hearts and the heroes overpowering him)
Use other people and power sources to take the upper hand as their individual power alone is not enough (Shen with the wolves/armies and his gunpowder cannons; Dimentio with the Chaos Heart and manipulating others to aid his agenda to seize it)
Balance menace and having a great sense of humor (if in a twisted way) to great effect
Petty, spiteful fellows
Fan favorites in respective fandoms
There’s quite a bit of overlap!
dimentio and lord shen are so similar to me. dimentio going "quality snack time! as he snacks on you! for you are the snack!" and shen going "it's your parting gift... in that it will part you. part of you here, part of you there, part of you waaaaay over there staining the wall!". the same.

Count Bleck's Army alternate versions
More character height refs for my comic.
Here's some info: Count Bleck's eye and mouth colors are flat to make him more sinister looking. You can't see his ears or hair because I wanted his hat and cape to hide them. I think it makes him look more mysterious and threatening. His cape adds to his width, making him look larger and more intimidating. This Timpani design is what she looked like before turning into a pixl. Her hair is brown and her dress highlights are a sky gradient. Dimentio's design is hidden for now because of spoilers. And lastly we have Mimi's spider form. I gave her an extra set of legs for the spider look. She also has a spiderlike abdomen going on.
