My ideal ace attorney fancase would be an investigations style case that happens at a comic-con
Edgeworth is there for the steel samurai panels and someone is murdered because his life is an unmitigated disaster, so Edgeworth has to switch into prosecutor mode and solve the case!! He stays in cosplay though-- his suit is in the car and they locked down the building for the investigation so they won't let him leave to go get it
The best part though? No one will break character or take off their costume, so figuring out who is who is half the battle

The case was unsettling. The building itself even more. You found yourself walking through ruins on your latest investigation. Hand trailing over the debris that you could only assume once belonged to a wall. Maybe a ceiling. You glanced up to the open sky. Whatever happened, one thing was for certain. Lives were lost. A sigh left your lips. Cases like these were always sad. Especially with the rumour that kids had been involved. Kids. Your hand traced the cracks in the rubble. A chill going through your spine before you faintly heard what sounded eerily like an "ahem". Though you were alone.
Instincts took over. Your hand whipped out your gun, pointing it all around you. Your nerves were on the edge of their seat. Adrenaline kicking through. Was someone with you? Did someone follow you in? This place was already unsettling enough. Now you were hearing things," who's there?" You called out. Voice echoing off the walls that remained. Silence.
"Boo," a chill went down your back. All the hair on your neck stood up. You practically jumped a foot in the air when you spun around. Gun aimed in front of you. That's when you saw it. The transparent figure of a girl with pink hair. Her arms were folded, a smug smirk dancing on her lips. You could already tell this one had a flare for trouble. She looked... young. Not much younger than you," jumpy. That's cute."
Was the ghost... flirting with you? You cringed in confusion. Trying to figure out what was happening. You thought ghosts weren't real. Fake news told to scare people off from abandoned places. You never thought... that you'd meet one. Let alone have one flirt with you so openly.
"Who... what.." Your words failed in your throat. Just watching as the figure floated over to you. She was cute, you'll admit that. But that didn't make this whole situation... any less strange. Out of everything you've done in the last few months on the job, this was the top of the list for strange situations. If this was the kind of thing people saw on the job, you wondered what your future had in store for you. To think this was just the start of your career.
"What's the matter, cute face? You look like you'd seen a ghost," the ghost continued to tease. Circling you with interest. Eyes looking you up and down.
"You're..." You had tried to speak again. But your mind was too busy trying to catch up to the situation. How...
"A ghost, yes. I know." The girl groaned. You tensed up, you didn't offend her, did you? An offended ghost was the last thing you needed.
"I- I'm sorry- I've just never.. met one," you apologized. You were not taking any chances here," what's your name?" You figured it was better to be friendly. Get the ghost to trust you. Maybe she could help in your investigation.
"Vi." The ghost replied. Settling herself down on some of the debris.
"Vi... do you- know what happened here?" You picked your words carefully. Slowly. You had to tread delicately here. You didn't like being in uncharted territory. In fact, you tried to avoid the unknown altogether. So to be dealing with this... it was definitely a challenge.
Vi scoffed, kicking one of the stones. It flew past you. Making you freeze. She can move things. That changed your whole approach. The thought of what she could do to you sent a jolt of fear through your body," an explosion."
Your face fell. Looking a little annoyed at that response. You figured that much out yourself already. Vi seemed... sad. Angry. You weren't sure if it was from you or the memory of whatever happened. You assumed it was both.
"Can you tell me anything more?"
The ghost was quiet for a long moment. Vi debated if she should tell you. She didn't really like enforcers, but you... you seemed to genuinely care. At least from the small interact she's had with you. And when you made your way over to sit down with her, that just confirmed what she had been thinking. You did care. You genuinely wanted to help. You weren't like the rest of the enforcers," ...my sister. I told her to stay behind but she didn't and well.." Vi gestured to the building.
Her sister did this? You looked around at the ruins, wondering how that night might have gone. Your hands folded gently together in your lap as you sat next to the ghost. Your shoulders brushed, giving you a cold chill where she touched you," your sister did this? How?"
"She was an inventor," Vi recalled with a fond smile. A look in her eyes you couldn't quite understand," always making some new creation. She'd been making some explosive stuff. Thought she could use it to help. It... caused more harm than good. Vander, our friends, me. Everyone but the enemy."
Your eyes softened. Listening to her story. It pulled at your heartstrings. It gave you the intel you needed. Just maybe.. you could find the girl's sister. If she helped. But should you ask?
With pursed lips, you treaded forward. "Would you help me find your sister?" You asked. Speaking slowly. Carefully. Vi looked to you. Her eyes studying. As though she wondered what you would do when you found her. But she wanted to find her sister. See her. Talk to her. That need was enough to get her to agree.
"Okay." Vi nodded, her expression suddenly protective. Fierce. Her glare sending another shiver through you," but if you so much as touch her I will make your life a living hell. I've gotten damn good at the whole ghost thing."
You raised your hands in surrender," I won't do anything. I just want to talk with her."
Vi relaxed at that. Giving you a nod before walking with you. Following you out of the building in search for Powder.

EUREKA!
September 6th is gonna be a big day for the gays.
It’s me. I’m the gays.
I haven’t played investigations (haven’t even finished the first 3 main games…….) but I’m super excited to get my hands on it when the remastered version comes out! Edgeworth is one of my favorite main characters so games all about him sound awesome. I’m also pretty excited to see Kay Faraday and Sebastian DeBeste :) I love those losers
Below is a Eureka-less version of the drawing.

going on a deepdive into 3DS/DS purikura games
I saw this image on a tumblr post and I wanted to look for the original source (so I could properly credit the person and to find out what game it was):

I couldn't find the original, however, I did find this yahoo ask asking what game it was.
The person answering seemed to think it was a hello kitty game, likely because of the hello kitty sticker used to cover the face of the person taking the selfie, but it's clearly one that was added after the photo of the DS was taken, it's not a sticker that exists within that software.
As you can see here, it seems to be a piece of hello kitty fanart- it's not official art, and therefore not featured in the game. This helps with my search a bit.
Also, I believe this is a 3DS title, not a DSI/DS one like the person above suggested- the "select" button in the home menu is the same as the o3DSXL's. This suggests this game was published BEFORE the n3DS series was released.
I remembered playing a game in the past called "Sanrio Picross" that had some purikura elements, however, that game doesn't allow you to edit photographs, and upon looking at them side by side, the UI is completely different.

I googled "3DS purikura game" (purikura being the Japanese word for photo booth) and the only result was "Sparkle Snapshots." From what I could see, the 3DS title didn't have UI that matched either. I decided to look up the DSI game as a last ditch effort into this line of thinking and I didn't find anything.
I did find a screenshot of the title screen on khinsider VGM and the title song goes HARD.
It doesn't seem like this is a purikura game, (or at least not solely), so my research must continue. The next thing I looked into was the UI. I know some Japanese, not very much, but enough to read some basic katakana.
Under the X button it says "Zoom." The L button seems to say "Erase Button."
And it seems that R and A also say "Erase Button." Start obviously says "Menu" It seems like this is a very basic game.
For the bottom screen, it was taken at an angle and it contains some Kanji, so I put it through some photo editing to make it easier to read.
Typing that into google translate I got "Saved! Do you continue doodle?" (and then obviously yes/no)
The phrasing of doodle is interesting. This implies it could be an art program, like the yahoo commenter suggested earlier.
Searching up 3DS art programs doesn't really help me, and coloring games doesn't work either...
My last resort is to go through every 3DS game released in japan, (since we already have a copy of every game ever released for the 3DS online...) However, before I do that, I'm going to look for this image some more.
I found it running rampant on pinterest...
No one else seems to know what it is either LOL.
However, the version on pinterest is significantly higher quality!

Next step, finding more games. I simply need to try to find MORE games. Because I know what the UI looks like, it shouldn't be too hard.
I'll run this search again and just scroll till I see a new lead...
Oh, that was quick!
I found a series called "minna no" which seems to be similar to the "imagine" series in the US- just kind of children's shovelware that never got translated to english.
I ran a search for みんなの (Minna no) on google and...
Huh that sounds familiar... oh my god.
OH MY GOD.
It'S THE SAME FUCKING GAME THE GUY FROM EARLIER WAS TALKING ABOUT. The one I dismissed entirely because it was a DSi title and the game's UI wasn't DSi? It was a 3DS title.
The best part about all of this... the best part about all of this... the UI doesn't even match at all. I went full circle and just accidentally proved this guy completely wrong.
I checked the rest of the minna no games, and yup, no dice. It's some other title.
Next up, I looked at Girls RPG Cinderella Life, mostly because it kept coming up over and over during my research- and holy shit their website is adorable.
Their website is an accessibility nightmare, but it's absolutely adorable. If you are into web design at all, I'd recommend checking it out.
super cute!! looking through the website only proves to me though that this is not the game we are looking for though, so let's move on.
Okay okay okay, how about... JS GIRL: Doki Doki Model Challenge?
Found some information about it.... oh shit there's a camera function?
Dammit... Doesn't look anything like the image.
WAIT WAIT WAIT. A photo decoration option??????
While trying to find more images I found out the game was in this pretty holographic packaging. God I'm jealous. More games should do this.
Either way I can't seem to find any images on this, so it's going on the list of possible candidates. And While looking up this game, I found more under the same artstyle that also might be culprits.
While trying to find more information, I realized how many of these games there are. And also how many of them I have played in the past, lol.
I've been a big fan of Style Savvy (AKA Girls Mode) and I've tried out Girls Fashion Shoot, which was an english translation from a different game series about becoming a model.
youtube
Yet another knocked off the list!
By extension, the second game is also knocked off the list.
youtube
Another model game- this one called Neco*Petit Girls Runway. Another dud, but also very cute.
Pretty Rhythm series seemed to have a camera function but it didn't line up with the UI shown in the screen either.
If anyone has any more ideas or lists of games, please tell me below! I need to take a break from researching this, and I'll need to play some of that JS model game from earlier, since I doubt anyone has used the photo function during a youtube Let's Play, but based on the UI, I sincerely doubt that it's the one we are looking for.

O'chunks
His past: He was a general in the army of a country. He was a respected warrior who crossed the lines of the enemy with a thousand men. But he was betrayed by one of his advisers. All his men were taken prisoner and he fell into the plush hands of the count. He recruited him when she was in the grip of despair and disgrace and brainwashed her with the help of Natasia. Carson claimed that Bleck made O'Chunks feel gradually worse until he finally pledged allegiance to Count Bleck, though he legitimately appreciates his loyalty.
In the events of Spm: He is fought a total of four times in the game, making him the most encountered boss in the game. He speaks with an exaggerated Scottish accent and his bushy ginger beard and eagerness to brawl are both Scottish stereotypes. However, the fact that his name begins with "O'" is an Irish tradition. Other translations use the Scottish patronym "Mc" instead. In the Italian version, he has a stereotypical Roman accent, and in the Spanish version, he speaks with a strong Andalusian accent.
O'Chunks is rather dimwitted and also has an eagerness to fight. He is very loyal to Count Bleck and will do anything to prove himself. He is shown to love Nastasia, but while she does not spurn his affection, she is in love with her boss instead. He is also shown to have a sense of honor, shown when he holds up the falling ceiling in Castle Bleck to save the heroes. O'Chunks is sometimes slow to comprehend things, such as when it took him a bit to realize that the Hero of Light was Count Bleck's enemy. When brainwashed by Dimentio, he becomes very zombie-like and can only shout out the names of vegetables. Whenever Mario is thrown by O'Chunks, he makes one of several boasting gestures towards him, surrounded by a red and black burst, suggesting that he is a show-off.
If the player decides to face O'Chunks as Peach during his second fight, then he will not treat her as roughly, suggesting that he has a more chivalrous side.
Additional information:
Catch Card: 190
HP Max: 100
Attack: 4
Defense:
Score: 8000
Card description It's O'Chunks, the count's hulking, wide-eyed henchman! Word is, the count saved his life. Now he owes him big.
Tattle: That's O'Chunks. He's even bigger and stronger now... How is that even possible? Max HP is 100 and Attack is 4. He can now perform aerial attacks... When you see him in the air, take evasive action... Just keep moving to avoid him. Well, Bowser, now is your chance to settle it with O'Chunks...
Quotes:
'So yer the lad stickin' his 'stachy in me boss's business!"
"Maria, 'ey? 'Tis an odd name, yeh, but yeh can bet yer bebby I'll remember that!"
"CHUNKS AWAY!"
"JUNIOR?! C'mere un' I'll introduce yeh to Fist Jr. an' his wee pal, Slappie!"
"Whut?! That makes as much sense as a beef an' broccoli sandwich!"
"Warrior rule # 1: 'Never fight on an empty stomach! 'Tis Madness!'"
"This world be pretty nice, what with all the peace an' whatnot... I like it!"
(A/N): And I have nothing more to say about it :)

Character Spotlight: Neelix
By Ames
At some point, the Star Trek fan base decided the worst main character of the franchise is Neelix – he’s obnoxious, his jokes don’t land, he’s dating a two-year-old, he looks like that. But if you actually, I dunno, watch the show, your hosts here at A Star to Steer Her By found that Neelix might be one of the most complex, consistent, and realistic characters on the show. Even Caitlin, who started our Voyager watchthrough disliking him, ended it bathed in the Talaxian love.
So get off the hate train and give the guy the open mind he deserves. He’s only trying to help the friends he met in the Delta Quadrant while battling some of the harshest mental demons the show has given to a character. Not to mention that Ethan Phillips gets to show his dramatic range show by show, comic relief one day, and emotionally destroyed the next. Check out both sides of the Neelix character below – the good and the bad – listen to our debate on this week’s podcast episode (stroll over to 51:16), and make your own decision! We’ll see you in the mess hall!
Best moments
Now I am become death, destroyer of Talaxians The first season of Voyager is already digging deep into Neelix’s tragic backstory when Jetrel” reveals that his whole family was taken out by the titular character’s metreon cascade. The whole episode is Neelix facing the man who killed so many Talaxians, and also facing his own deep guilt. When he forgives the dying Jetrel, he’s really forgiving himself and finally moving on.
There’s nothing like a family reunion We’ll have more to say about “Parturition” in our next section, but we start to see Neelix the caregiver in his interactions with the newly hatched dino puppet. Not only do we see an end to the entirely stupid love triangle between Neelix, Kes, and Tom, but we glimpse how much Neelix puts other people before himself when he pushes to save the baby monster thing.
I’m going to have plenty of material for tomorrow’s Briefing With Neelix Neelix’s nosiness, while frequently one of his more annoying traits, ends up paying off in “Investigations” when he uncovers the mole who’s been making contact with Seska and those wily Kazons. Not only does Neelix put himself at risk by going undercover, but he also ends up murdering that saboteur Jonas by throwing him into a plasma fire like a badass!
The 299th Rule of Acquisition: Whenever you exploit someone, it never hurts to thank them Ethan Phillips sure knows how to play a Ferengi, having portrayed Farek in “Ménage à Troi.” But Neelix himself also plays a damn good Ferengi, totally pulling off the Grand Proxy / Holy Pilgrim in “False Profits.” He initially fools Arridor and Kol with his quick thinking and improv, and when the game is rumbled, succeeds in protecting the Takarians from their Ferengi ploy.
What’s this week’s legend, Olmec? While overall we found “Sacred Ground” to be an unfocused and confounding mess, Neelix is still strong in it nonetheless! He does everything in his power to support the effort to get Kes out of her supernatural coma. Most importantly, he figures out the loophole via an old anecdote about an ancient king requesting an audience with the spirits, which Janeway pounces on.
I’m tired of being the target of all your hostility Sure, most of the time, you can view Neelix’s interactions with Tuvok as insufferable and tone deaf (much like I frequently find Archer’s constant needling of T’Pol in Enterprise), but it comes from a place of love and respect. It takes Tuvok several seasons to reciprocate this and it all starts in “Rise” when Neelix finally stands up for himself to the tactless Vulcan.
Intergalactic House of Pancakes As the Voyager’s morale officer, Neelix commonly goes out of his way to support his fellow crew members. It’s something a ship’s counselor should be doing, but we don’t have one of those. So Neelix takes it upon himself to offer comfort food (like blood pie in “Day of Honor” and banana pancakes in “Extreme Risk”), a shoulder to cry on, or his body in the form of a punching bag.
Flotter and the Crashed Shuttlepod We get more of caregiver Neelix in his relationship with Naomi Wildman throughout the show. As the girl’s godfather, he’s the only one who can get her to bed at night, with stories of the Great Forest in “Mortal Coil.” But he truly shines in “Once Upon a Time” when his impulse is to protect her from the possibility her mother could die, but it ends with both he and Naomi growing when he learns that being honest with her will help them better survive trauma together.
When is a Vulcan no longer a Vulcan? We loved the vulnerable, un-Vulcan Tuvok in “Riddles” and we love Neelix in this episode even more. Once again, he shows what a great caregiver he is by selflessly caring for others. It’s even more personal because the Tuvok-Neelix relationship has built over the show, so Neelix’s support of his friend really pulls at your heartstrings, especially with the heart-wrenching ending.
See anyone you know? Neelix gets two different farewell scenes with Kes in Voyager. The first is a touching goodbye in “The Gift” when they know Kes is transcending to a new type of Ocampan. The second might be the only good moment from the deeply problematic “Fury” in which a tormented Kes is rampaging around the ship but Neelix treats her with the affection and empathy he always has.
She’s a fine specimen of Klingon womanhood I ran out of room in the EMH post to include how uncomfortable I felt when he insists Harry Kim bang Officer Ch’Rega in “Prophecy” even though it’s clear Kim doesn’t consent. But you know who’s down to clown with a Klingon mistress? Neelix! He successfully gets the tall drink of bloodwine off of Harry’s ass and onto his own. Everyone wins! Qapla’!
Coming full circle Neelix’s character gets the perfect ending in “Homestead.” See above how we started the series with Neelix feeling guilty that he wasn’t there during the Talaxian-Haakonian war and accepting that he’ll never go home again. And here we see him off after he’s saved a lost Talaxian colony and gets to rejoin his people. It’s the most complete character arc of the show.
—
Worst moments
Always let your scavenger be your guide This isn’t all to say Neelix is a perfect angel. We first meet him when he’s scavenging around in “Caretaker,” and the very first thing he does is trick the Voyager into helping him free Kes from the Kazons who have captured her. Which is admirable, mind you, but he goes about it through deception and cunning. Not the best impression to make for the first time we encounter him.
Your ceiling is hideous This is one of those moments that isn’t entirely Neelix’s fault, but is definitely bad for him. What’s a better way to respond to having your lungs stolen from you as his were in “Phage”? I’m not sure, but it’s probably not constantly whining, wallowing in self pity, and accusing Kes of having an affair with Tom. Not a good look, though I certainly can’t say I’d handle it much better.
You don’t know where I was the night Rinax was destroyed As we said above, Neelix’s backstory that comes out in “Jetrel” really deepens his character. It’s also where we learn that he dodged the draft during the Talaxian-Haakonian war. I can’t judge him for hiding from a war he doesn’t believe in, but I sure can judge him for lying for many years that he was actually in the defense forces because he was ashamed for being a coward.
Get the cheese to sickbay This one’s just silly. What a strange development that it turns out the reason the ship is malfunctioning all over the place in “Learning Curve” is because the brill cheese Neelix whipped up to attempt to make macaroni and cheese. The schplict that Neelix brings on board infects the bio-neural circuitry of the ship, and it feels like a joke more than anything else.
Order the diapers. We’re about to become parents. Let’s put aside the “Kes is only two years old!” argument that we’ve had on the podcast myriad times, and instead have the “Neelix is a possessive and selfish partner” argument that’s actually warranted. In “Elogium,” when Kes is going through a traumatic life stage that forces her to decide if she’s ready to have children, Neelix somehow makes it all about him, which is gross.
How do you know where everyone’s quarters are? Speaking of Neelix being a bad boyfriend, he continues to be a controlling, jealous piece of shit in “Twisted.” Not only does he whine when Tom gives Kes a birthday present, but he also accuses her of being the town pump because her eidetic memory makes her remember where everyone’s quarters are. And then he vanishes randomly and we never get an apology!
Food fight! Most of these bad Neelix moments are clumped in the first couple of seasons, and that’s because it’s here at “Parturition” that the writers realized they needed to stop leaning on the jealous boyfriend trope and fix the Neelix-Paris relationship. It really was that bad. They were such children, starting a food fight over Kes and acting like animals during mating season.
No bone about it Remember how we gave Chakotay credit for not going out of his way not to desecrate a gravesite in “Emanations”? Apparently Neelix has no such qualms. He’s really gung ho to make some tools out of some humanoid bones he and Hogan find in “Basics.” And sadly for us, it ends up with Hogan getting killed by whatever monster or other left those bones there!
None of us knows what’s coming This episode would have made way more sense if it happened a season earlier. By “Fair Trade,” midway through season three, Neelix should know better that he doesn’t have to prove himself around his found family on the Voyager. But instead, he throws Tom and Chakotay under the bus and threatens his own life so he can get a map and continue to be the quadrant expert.
You sound as though you’re saying goodbye It’s not often that you’ll find one of our moments be a scene that didn’t happen. When Neelix resorts to a certainly suicidal plan to trick the black market dealers in “Fair Trade,” he thinks he’s going to die, but he never has a scene with Kes. I can’t forgive the writers for cutting a scene of him saying goodbye to Kes, who has ONE inconsequential line in the whole episode.
I want to hear about the Great Forest again If we can give Torres shit for how poorly she deals with trauma in “Extreme Risk,” then we can also share the disapproval for Neelix with how abysmally he deals with his mortality in “Mortal Coil,” as he nearly spaces himself. This is another reason why it’s clear the Voyager needs a counselor because even if the crew knew how to ask for help (they don’t), there’s no one to ask.
All we need now is a mark Being such a people person, Neelix also gets himself into trouble by being way too trusting. He easily falls for Dala’s nun story in “Live Fast and Prosper” like an absolute rube. And then when he and Tom are trying to prove they’re not rubes, Neelix picks the EMH to play a shell game against, who is absolutely the wrong mark. What a couple of rubes.
