BALITANG LOKAL: Algorithm Computer Services failed to repair PC broadcasting equipment for OneNETtv Channel due to extreme financial difficulties [#OnlyOnOneNETnews]
(Written by Mishelle Patangui / Area Manager for OneNETtv Channel and Assistant News Writer of OneNETnews)
DUMAGUETE, NEGROS ORIENTAL -- On Wednesday morning (October 17th, 2024), a local computer repair shop 'Algorithm Computer Services' (ACS) was unable to repair Rhayniel's personal computer (PC) broadcasting equipment at 'National Highway, Brgy. Daro, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental'.
OneNETnews was first to learn that the broadcasting services of OneNETtv Channel in Dumaguete City refuses to pay the computer repair costs by Rhayniel Calimpong's parents, who is the only independently-funded internet broadcaster and online news reporter, and his parents are facing financial difficulties, making it hard for them to cover the said costs of computer repairs for his small freelance news business.
The repair costs is much more than PHP10,000 (or roughly U$D173). Social media and physical donors have also refused to donate internet TV station, which automatically resulted unfortunately in financial difficulties for indefinite suspension of broadcasting operations beginning this Friday (October 18th, 2024) after the mall opening hours at Power Mac Center for the nationwide launch of Apple's iPhone 16. ONC Foundation will start a massive donation drive effective this week in mid-October 2024, all the way up to early 2025.
Dumaguetenos can support to send donations at 0994-269-6055 for both GCash and Maya users. International donations like Ko-Fi, Throne, Wise or PayPal are all available at "https://allmylinks.com/feling009". Taxes will be shouldered through the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Supposedly, due to a series of PC crashes… Rhayniel wants to upgrade the system from his outdated operating system of Windows 7 to Windows 10 in the section of Solid State Drive (SSD), then cloning his own 1-terabyte hard disk drive (HDD) at Western Digital as a back-up, following the expensive production of audio and video editing between Sony Vegas and CapCut, and the only broadcast source is on Open Broadcasting Software (OBS). His online broadcasting media and journalist career for nearly 15 years, may or may not come to an end without your support.
This would allow him to resume full broadcasting operations for OneNETtv Channel and continue his nearly 15-year career in online media and journalism in the City of Gentle People.
----
EDITOR's NOTE: We are featured on Dumagueteno's FB Group, but too controversial to discuss from the sucked mods in Dumaguete City. For those interested to donate, you can visit over to our news blog or via AllMyLinks site.

I SIGNED UP FOR THE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM!
it's 7 courses, roughly 20 hours each, at the culmination of which I'll have to hand in a 25k novella for a panel of Canadian authors to evaluate. so obviously I'm going to write about an ancient demon who swallows the soul of a baby and enters its body, only to get trapped and essentially regress, so that its generals have to hover around nervously trying to parent it.
#aghhhhh I was just thinking about how I need to cut costs and now I'm going back to school 😭 but I'll make it work#only got the one life

I'm debating starting a youtube. One of the things I love about learning how to do stuff is sharing the process and skills involved with people and that seems to be the preferred platform for that kind of thing; I find that with a lot of what I'm making it's so niche or weird that there's not easily findable tutorials on how to do what I want to do, so maybe it would help if I made them? Tiktok is okay as a quick and easy way to slap process videos together but I kind of hate it and I also don't like how unsearchable and short-lived content is there.
Youtube would be a lot of work, and I'm not convinced it would be worth the effort, but on the other hand, if I could get some traction there, it would be nice to have passive ad revenue to offset project costs without having to directly sell the random crap I'm making.
I dunno, guys. This site has been home for my art for a long time, and I don't see that changing, but it would be nice to have resources to put into some of the larger projects that aren't directly sellable.
#there is so much I wish i could do if i could justify the cost of the projects#and i can already do a lot! I'm not complaining#but ugh#marketing art. not the most fun.#and to do it properly i would need to spend some decent money on camera gear#because my phone would not cut it#still not putting my fucking face on the internet though

You know those wooden dinosaur skeleton models you can buy from museum gift shops, that are usually simple and variably off-model? I used to have a tripod Tyrannosaurus back when I was a kid decades ago.
So there's a company in Chile that makes those, but scientifically accurate! Wonder Artistic Models. I've known about them for couple years now, I think, but after losing my job couldn't afford to buy one.
Untill now.
They had a pretty big discount campaign last month and hey, guess how that went.
Oh, boy, let's see how well this goes!
#the models themselves aren't actually too expensive most of the time#but fedex shipping to Finland cost about the same as the model itself#(more actually since the model price was discounted)#145 pieces oh boy!#the laser cut wood smells nice though!#the jaw and skull are articulated!#and tail has couple joints too

as a 16th century clergyman what does machete think of the printing press
I think by the time he was born the printing press had been around for almost a century and a half, so I'd reckon the society as a whole was largely past it's initial novelty and controversy. Machete himself is bookish and nerdy, he's very invested in gathering knowledge about various topics and trying to piece together a good picture of how the world works. Getting access to reading material would be a lot harder if every book was still copied individually by hand. His standards are pretty high though, there's a lot of poorly translated, shoddily printed and flimsily bound books around and he's prone to scrunching his nose at them.
#his relationship with faith is kind of fraught and unhealthy#but as a top ranking cleric he's nonetheless fiercely protective of the church's interests that's his job#the reformation and the invention of the printing press enabled people to start spreading bootleg vernacular translations of the bible#suddenly folks had a chance to read the holy book in a language they could understand (if you were lucky enough to be literate at least)#this was a big deal remember it used to be only in latin and essentially gatekept by priests#not to mention you could now buy a copy of your own the cost of books had crashed they weren't necessarily rare luxury items anymore#you don't just go and cut out the middleman that's not how this is supposed to work#distressing times in the catholic church#answered#anonymous

ok last post of the day
I still think Ludinus is delusional with this tape because like. He's trying to convince a dysfunctional family of fuck-ups that a dysfunctional family of fuck-ups isn't worth saving.
someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think his whole point is "the gods destroyed Aeor rather than destroying their siblings which would have been the easy solution that would've ended the war"
but the thing Ludinus isn't getting is that Bells Hells would understand the gods. They almost killed each other over a sword like two nights ago. Laudna has an evil dead lady in her head slowly gaining more and more control over her. Orym is destroying himself to get the job done. Imogen is a couple rock bottoms away from being a vessel for Predathos. Fearne's daddy issues might end the world. Chetney refuses to talk about his problems until they are staring him down. But they will not do the "easy" thing. They will not get rid of each other because the idea of that is so unfathomable that they would rather try and fail to save each other than succeed at anything less noble. So Imogen and Laudna try and make a relationship work. The whole group agrees to at least try to communicate. Orym protects them, even though logically he should probably neutralize at least some of them in the best interest of the world. Fearne relies on her friends to tell her the right path. Chetney makes them gifts and slowly unravels the hidden parts of himself.
it's not whether the gods are right or wrong. It's not "poor wizards" or "the gods should have just left". Morality has always been a shifty thing in this campaign, so at this point I think it's out of the equation. Now what matters is what Bells Hells see when they look at this tape. Do they see what Ludinus sees, a bunch of illogical decisions that ended a great (read: dystopian) wizard city? Or do they see themselves reflected in gods-made-mortal?
(and for the people who really want to talk about the morality of this, I'm now like 95% sure Predathos is not going to stop with the gods so we have the end of the world to contend with)
#i love grey morality#i eat that shit up for every meal of the day#but again this comes down to Ludinus cutting off all meaningful relationships#and therefore not understanding a family that will stick together at all costs#you can't show a group of people a reflection of themselves#and expect them to agree to killing it#cr downfall#critical role#critical role downfall#bells hells#cr3#cr spoilers

3 Things NOT to scrimp on during the cost of living crisis
Although we may be feeling the pinch of the cost of living crisis and might have less money left at the end of every month, there are some things that you shouldn't cut from your budget...
Collaborative feature It’s tough times; bills are increasing, interest rates are going up and even food is more expensive – or, in some cases, scarce. It’s therefore natural to want to take a second look at your monthly budget and reduce your outgoings. BUT before you slash some costs off your expenditure, it’s a good idea to consider how important the bill is and what kind of negative effect…
