The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and Radio-Canada will eliminate about 600 jobs and an additional 200 vacancies will go unfilled as it contends with a $125 million budget shortfall. The public broadcaster said Monday that CBC and Radio-Canada will each cut about 250 jobs, with the balance of the layoffs coming from corporate divisions such as technology and infrastructure. Some of the cuts will be made immediately while others will be carried out over the next 12 months.

Volkswagen CEO Says 35,000 German Job Cuts Are ‘Good News’
Volkswagen’s deal with workers’ representatives contemplates 35,000 jobs in future Germany-“is good news”, said the company CEO on Sunday.
It is one of the biggest adjustments planned in Volkswagen’s German operations capacity reductions under the last-minute agreement between the manufacturer’s workers.
The agreement followed months of strife with employees, arising from the car manufacturer’s indication for the very first time in its 87-year history that it might close plants in Germany, accompanied by a plan of wage cuts, that led more than 100,000 Volkswagen workers to strike at the company’s German plants early December.
“This agreement is good news for Volkswagen,” Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume told Frankfurter Allgemeine in an interview on Sunday. Read more

Volkswagen CEO Announces Job Cuts, Plant Closures, and Restructuring in 3-4 Years
Volkswagen CEO, Thomas Schaefer, stated on Saturday that the automaker has no choice but to implement job cuts and plant closures in order to achieve €4 billion in cost reductions.
In an interview with Welt am Sonntag, Schaefer emphasized that the company must find comprehensive solutions to address its challenges. “Any solution must reduce both overcapacity and costs. We cannot apply a temporary fix and continue as is, as it would eventually have serious repercussions,” he said, according to Reuters.
These remarks come amid an intensifying dispute with workers, which is expected to worsen the situation. Workers have threatened to strike in December and are urging the company to find solutions that avoid factory closures and major job cuts, particularly in ongoing negotiations regarding pay and capacity.
Schaefer noted that most of the layoffs could be managed through normal attrition and early retirement. Read more

McKinsey in particular drove home the message that head office had to be further pared back, with the head-office staff of 1,100 cut by up to 60 per cent, and that would entail drastic reductions in the economics and strategy units.

Today has been a shitshow, in the purest form.
The two remaining members of my team got laid off. I'm the freaking "project manager," but how am I supposed to do everything without a team?? Like, these guys were basically my left and right arms for keeping things running, a core unit.
No warning. No time to prepare or figure out solutions or do a hand off. One guy just sent an SOS message letting us know he was being laid off, and the next thing I learn is that guy 2 is gone too.
And I'm left to clean up the mess. The real kicker? Guy 2's wife is supposed to give birth any day now.
Like, these are people's lives. And I know they'll be fine, but when people say companies don't have loyalty anymore, this is what they're talking about.
I've just gone through all the emotions today. Rage. Sadness. Frustration. Numbness. Back to being pissed off lol.
I like my job reasonably well most days, but this sucks so hard.

I made @wolfythewitch 's fox Bill design out of polymer clay
It's pretty thin (so thin I'm afraid it'll snap in half anytime I lift it)
Front and back side:
#I love crafting stuff but it's more time consuming than drawing (and less satisfying to me) so I don't do it as often#this would make a pretty cool pin. too bad it's so fragile#this is useless btw. I'm afraid it's break even if I store it somewhere#but at least I had fun making it#like an idiot I decided it would be better if I used only yellow and painted the details after baking it#fast forward-> me trying to paint it with a permanent black marker and a white gel pen that's definitely not for that job#this design will forever be imprinted in my brain as the best fanmade bill design actually#gravity falls#gravity fowls#bill cipher#arts n crafts#polymer clay#don't look at my ugly fingers#this is obviously not actual folded like an origami. I just cut the pieces I needed (the body is one piece folded in half tho)#btw I used the oven just to bake this. rip the environment

Boeing Layoffs: Hundreds Fired in the U.S., Impacting 17,000 Employees
Aerospace giant Boeing has initiated significant layoffs in Washington and California as part of planned workforce reductions in the U.S. These cuts will ultimately reduce the company’s headcount by approximately 17,000 employees. As part of this process, around 400 employees in Washington and over 500 in California have been laid off.
Previously, Boeing announced plans to downsize its workforce by 10% over the coming months as it grapples with financial challenges, regulatory issues, and the aftermath of a two-month machinists’ strike. However, CEO Kelly Ortberg clarified that the layoffs were not a direct result of the strike but were necessary due to overhiring in recent years. Employees were informed in advance about the decision. Read more -- https://theceodialogs.com/
