What role,if any, should zoo play in conservation/ education?
Zoo’s should be more helpful towards the species of animals they are inhabiting rather than worried about being profitable. Moreover, zoo should try to invest its Some of the profit towards conservation of the species if it is endangered by providing better conditions for the animals in the zoo by making environment like their natural habitat as it will help to keep endangered species alive. I suppose zoos play a crucial role to provide knowledge to visitors who are having interest in lthe animals of zoos. zoos should generally be spreading knowledge and be donating part of the proceeds to conservation of species.
Is it ethical to keep animals in zoos? If so, what size/type of animals or zoo ?
Zoos have their own significance as they represent a peice of wildlife that cannot be seen otherwise, but, keeping away animals from its natural habitat or duplicating the wildlife for animals is unethical as they loose their freedom which is incorrect. Although, the concept of safaris is fascinating, it does not harm or captive any species.
Do you enjoy visiting zoos ?
It has been almost 2 years in canada due to busy schedule I didn’t get enough time to visit any zoo here but i have been to a lot zoos in backhome and i use to enjoy zoos where animals behave freely in the forest and people visit in a vehicle there which goes around the park .
This a vedio taken by my father 8 years ago i went to a zoo in Delhi,India with my family . We saw two hippopotamus fighting . This Zoo name is “Welcome To Delhi Zoo”

Paragraph on mindfulness
In this busyworld where mostly everybody is workaholic ,nobody have time to enjoy being in present in this world. But if you want to slow down it is possible by mindfulness exercises, its all about slowing down ,observe and enjoy every moment in life. I personally enjoyed it in class when our prof Kristina Hunter gave us some rasins to observe, smell and taste it slowly. This exercise really help me to get out of stress of studies and after that exercise i always try to do this exercise with my everymeal and i tried this technique with my homemade staple food and believe me i was feeling so relaxed . As i like to do meditation by doing yoga ,this exercise also work as meditation which help me to concentrate on every work i do either that is job or studies. I think it is very important to do these exercise daily to slow down in our hectic schedule because it takes away the anxiety and tensions in our body and calm us down.

Oceans
What are your primary concerns about the oceans ?
My primary concern about the ocean is increase in ocean temperature due to greenhouse gases and warming the atmosphere because ice is melting due to warmer water temperatures, I fear we will eventually lose very unique climates like the ones up north that sustain life for may species,we will start to have coastal regions that are being threatend by risking sea levels.
What, if anything ,do you plan to do about it ?
I plan on supporting green comapnies,Recycling more, carpooling more as well as walking and taking the bus when i can to lower my carbon footprint and i will also try to share knowledge on how others can cit down their carbon footprint to allow less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

What do you like about your food system?
As i am a vegeterian, i dont eat any type of animal source products like chicken, beef, etc or dairy products like eggs except cheese and milk. I usually eat cooked vegetables, pulses, rice and wheat chappati in my main course. I like my diet because I suppose that vegeterian diet have higher fiber content which is necessary for proper digestion and to improve body digetion, have high nutritional value which keeps my skin healthy. Moreover it is economical , because vegeterian food is more cheaper as compared to non vegetarian.
What dou you dislike about it ?
Though vegeterian diet is environmentally friendly yet ,the diet is not that good because i dont get some essential nutrient which are only which are available more in non vegetariandiet for example vitamin B12 which is an essential nutrient that’s almost exclusively found in animal sourced food, such as fish, meat, dairyproducts and eggs.

The step i want to take is to grow own fruits and vegetable in my backyard because i believe this step will help me to reduce my cost i spend on groceries every week and can enjoy fresh and organic products. This option can fit best for me and my homies. Moreover, i also start using other method’s like reduce household waste as i did waste audit at home to help me reducing my household food waste.According to me, Growing our own food at home will be next step to control food waste and to enhance food sustainability.

Ewaste
I usually dont buy much electronics but i have some: cell phone, apple watch. Well i never thought about ewaste in past because everything is working fine because these are rechargeable and it reduce e-waste. I know in future may be it stop working or i get bored of it then i know companies like Best Buy which recycle old electronics or if i get bored of using any electronic i will send it to backhome india where my cousins can use or they can also donate to needy people. I guess this way is better then ending up electronics in land fill . At last , in future i will also try to purchase things that will last me in the long term and not something that will need to get replaced in the near future.

Slow movement
Listen to one of the podcasts on implementing “slow” in the modern world. The podcast that I chose to listen to was Welcome to New Slow City in which a fellow named Carl speaks to William Powers about a book he wrote about living slow.
3 opportunities
Slowing down to your natural rhythm can bring you genuine self gratitude and bring you happiness that you didn’t assume was once previously possible.
Another opportunity for implementing the Slow Movement is to reduce phone usage. This can be as simple as not bringing your phone into your bedroom or taking one hour before you g o to bed as a phone-free time.
A third opportunity to implement the Slow Movement is performing a slow exercise. Slow movement exercise reduces stress while realizing the other health benefits from exercise. One example of slow movement exercise is yoga. Yoga can help to reduce stress and improve breathing while increasing heart rate.
3 Challenges
Not everybody can understand the concepts of slow, sometimes you can feel isolated with the new concept you are taking on, especially when you are adjusting to becoming slow.
Adjustments in lifestyle can be hard to become accustomed too, sometimes giving up certain habits is more difficult than one may have thought.
The third challenge of the Slow Movement is defining its goal. If the goal of the Slow Movement is to eliminate the usage of electronics, it will be difficult to encourage the population to participate. Therefore, the Slow Movement needs to focus on small changes that are more palatable to the masses.
I would like to implement the Slow Movement into my life. First of all , i would try to disconnect from cell phon and instead of using more technology during my lesuire time i will do some physical activities and spend more time with my friends, who are my only family here because i am an international student . Moreover, steps to achieve this movement will include getting my homework done by lucrative plan, enjoy my meals with my friends rather than eating alone. In addition,i will try to introduce the concept of slowing down to family and friends so that we can slow down together.

What promotes human connection to nature?
The strong human connection to nature is truly attainable by experiencing it. the most effective manner is spending time within nature aloof from urbanization. Nature itself describes the freshness and freedom. Natural beauty can enable it to attach with nature internally whereas urban beauty could bring artificial nature, however, it will disappoint reality at some point. even though there are town parks out there, they cannot replace nature. Stepping out from the busy world wherever we are able to live right now is an opening move to connect with nature. we should always try to get rid of a while to explore the contents of nature. Visiting national parks, walking through woods and alternative places where you can feel yourself at intervals nature can assist you to make sturdy connections with nature.
What promotes disconnection from nature?
In this scenario time that we spend in nature is less than we spend on phones. computers or another gadget because Technology feeds us a never-ending diet of entertainment due to which we are getting lazy and don’t go out to explore and enjoy nature which is also affecting our health. We have been living in a world where we rely on things that pulls us away from nature.
Is there a danger to a growing disconnect from nature?
At a point where we see at our associations with nature, it is in our slightest intrigued. Firstly, innovation is getting more into us, pulling us away from nature. Getting too stuck into gadgets influences physical and mental well-being. We have no time to go out and explore nature. When we are detached from nature, we have no care for our nature. On the other hand, whereas urbanization develops deforestation takes place at the same time. We have been so cruel that we cut trees for land, mine mountains and devastate the common habitat which in return is influencing us. We have crushed the ecosystem and at the same time we are forgetting that human depends so much on a biological system, which is very critical for well-being and livelihood
WORLDVIEWS
I have read a very interesting article by Suzanne C. and Michelle A. called “Eccentric and Anthropocentric attitudes toward the environment” this article talks about 2 studies that show, how individuals' behaviour and attitudes towards the environment are measured and affected by many factors. After reading this article I personally classify myself into ecocentric as I believe that everything is interconnected and we have to look at a bigger picture.
Wild spaces
Can parks meet its dual mandate of access and protection?
I believe it is very challenging to have full protection to areas of land that permit access through humans. Like the instance Prof. Hunter gave in class, even taking walks through a region doing nothing at all can startle animals and probably separate a number of animals from their young. With any kind of human contact as well, I consider animals stray from their herbal wild state and commence to adapt to having human beings around. I assume there can be strict policies to get entry to parks, such as limited things to do in the park and specific components on hand for humans that could assist closer to partial safety but not full protection of the parks. There could also be restricted access that solely allowed certain people in the park. Though I suppose there are choices to higher defend parks, I sense it is not absolutely possible to grant both access and protection of parks at the same time.
How can this be achieved in Wapsuk?
I think Wapusk National Park is working towards this dual mandate of access and protection with the people who represent their management board. I think it’s important to have representatives looking out for the goals of Canada, more specifically Manitoba where the park is located, even more specifically those that live in Churchill nearby, and lastly of those Aboriginal groups that have long-lasting ties and understanding of the land at the question. Having so many perspectives with so many interests at mind is important in making large decisions. More directly, I think Wapusk is working towards access and protection through the activities they allow. One in particular that I thought effective was the helicopter rides to get an aerial view of the land. This keeps humans directly off the land but also gives them a look at the park, if not a better one then actually being on the ground.

Describe where and when you spent your time in nature?
Not only did I spend but enjoyed my leisure time in nature by visiting Gimli beach in august,2019
What did you experience in your time in nature? What did you see, hear, smell, feel?
I went there with my best friend, and I was very excited because it was my first time when I saw the beach I felt calmness in the environment because there were few visitors and I heard chirping of birds, sound of waves when hitting the shore, sound of little cold breeze when touched my jacket all these sounds were amazing. Moreover, I felt sunshine on my body which was giving me relaxation, and greenery around the beach was soothing my eyes and I smell the aroma of sand when mixed with water. Well, I felt that nature was taking away my depression and anxiety from my body and in return giving me happiness and after spending my 3 hours over there I decided that I am gonna slow down my busy life and gonna enjoy nature more.

How did the information presented in the talks above affect how you think about nature?
These TED Talks made me aware of, not only the "pretty" parts of nature but also about how important every individual organism is to the ecosystem.  the first Ted talk “How trees talk to each other” was enlightening and affect my thinking about nature. All my life, I perceived trees as competitors because of how they try to outgrow each other to absorb sunlight and just simply take carbon dioxide and produce oxygen for other livings beings but I never thought there is something  more beyond this like, underneath the ground, there is a whole intricate network of roots that help the trees to communicate and help each other's and how they favour their own kins. Simply put, they act like a family and   We need to appreciate their value and curtail deforestation and try to recover all the trees we have lost to it. Talking about the second ted talk “ why I love vultures”   really reinforced the idea that although something might not seem useful, things in nature have much more value than we initially perceive. Vultures are also critically important to get rid of bacteria and I think we need to take every action we can to save this vulture species from extinction because  One imbalance can affect the entire hydrolytic cycle. Well, It was very interesting that the speakers felt very passionate about a specific animal or part of a forest and inspire me to think more about nature.
What aspects of nature and biodiversity do you feel are most important to protect? How can you take action to protect this aspect?
I believe the most essential aspects of nature and biodiversity, that are most acutely deserving protection at this time, are the forests. Forests provide many natural functions in our environment. The trees in the forest act as a carbon storage site, a source of oxygen formation and a habitat for many species. The trees in the forest also utilize water and thus, mitigate the effects of flooding. A healthy forest is part of a healthy ecosystem which is ultimately important for human health and well-being. To protect the forests, I can do my part by not wasting paper and by using recycled paper as often as possible. I can also help by educating others and encouraging them to live an eco-friendlier life. The last thing I can do is get involved with planting trees in areas that have been destroyed by either natural disaster or clear-cutting.
