Summer had escaped. She'd escaped Salem!

Just one problem. She had no idea where the hell to go from here. She was battered and bruised and exhausted and if there was a way off this stupid grimm infested continent she didn't know it.

Her aura was low, barely there, really, but she thought she might have enough, if she could just summon enough to use her semblance she could focus it and-

The grimm continent fizzled out around her, everything went white, and she found herself... she didn't actually know where. But there was a shell shocked Raven staring at her.

Summer managed a grin before she passed out.

There were dark circles under his eyes, and it was clear that he was exhausted. Tai had known that dealing with an infant was always going to be tiring, but he hadn't exactly expected to have to do it on his own. He also hadn't anticipated how fussy Yang would be, but he could also just be so tired that she seemed worse than she actually was.

He'd just finally managed to get her down for a nap when he saw movement in the shade of the trees just past the edge of the house.

A sigh left him as he picked up the baby monitor and headed outside. He knew exactly who it was…., but not why she was here.

"What do you want, Raven?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest. He'd done his best to be patient with her, letting her drop by to see Yang occasionally, but that patience was wearing thin.

immediately the hairs on the back of qrow's neck stand. immediately the shotgun triggers of his heart pull. boiling scarlet eyes squint in a pinched scowl. what kind of a question even is that?

as soon as that look comes, it goes. as soon as that wave of a million scalding memories washes over him, it goes. not unlike the presence of the mentioned woman in his life. his shoulders slump, taking with them all his feelings, firmly stomped into the dirt. which is about all the credit Raven ever seemed to give them, anyway, anytime he talked to her.

"i don't hate Raven."

why does the truth always sting to say out loud? ...is it also hard to hear? he's never looked so vulnerable. but that's what happens when your twin's no longer there to watch your back and boost your strength.

"...i've felt hurt. i've been angry at her, sure. ...but have you seen what's out there in this world? tch," he scoffs, "trust me, i have. an' there're things so much more worthy of hate, let me tell you."

yes, he's seen worse. like when he used to survive with Raven. fight with her. fly with her. take advantage of those moments just to see her. ...and while he watches the skies for her, constantly.

it would be easier if he did hate her, wouldn't it? he would have a target to blame all his messy feelings on. he could write her off as corrupted and irredeemable, and not have to think about it anymore, or let hope sit so heavy in his heart.

but he knows that's not right.

he knows she has her reasons, even if he doesn't agree. he knows she struggles, too. he doesn't know why they can't still face his and her struggles, and the world, side by side. that's what qrow wants. to be family again. any pain Raven's capable of causing him is because he cares. any rage he expresses or distance he creates due to her betrayals and misguided stubbornness comes from a place of loss and of love.

qrow shakes his head, feathered hair fluttering along with.

"i've never hated Raven. not in any of my thoughts. not once."

"...I'm sure there are those who wish I would say yes. Unfortunately, the answer is no."

Before everything, she had put her utmost faith into the military. She had not been faking loyalty in the actions she had taken, had not been feigning fealty. It was that utter devotion that had blinded her to all of the things she was doing.

Or perhaps, that was the easiest lie to tell herself: that she had been blind to it. It was an easier thing to accept than knowing that she had seen all of it, been so painfully aware of the pain that she and the others had caused, and stood by. It had only been in those last few weeks that she had allowed her mind to wander, to think of what she could have done if she had left sooner.

And who would she have even been, if she had left? If before everything, she had simply taken her leave from the military, who would Winter Schnee have been? She couldn't guess, couldn't imagine a life where she hadn't become the soldier that she was working to unmake now.

No use in focusing on things she couldn't change.

"By the time I thought of desertion, it was... a foregone conclusion. I suppose if you want to pinpoint an exact moment... hearing James speak of taking down the SDC ships... I could not stand idly by."

what does their perfume smell like, and how much do they put on?

Yang has a single perfume bottle that she filched from the vanity of a particularly wealthy woman one raid. She is unaware a bottle of it costs upwards of 200 lien, and if she knew she might make a point to use it more than every now and then. It has a floral scent that lingers, and while she has no way of identifying the exact scent, she thinks it's quite pleasant.

When she left the tribe to find Ruby, Yang gave it to her mother. A gift, she'd said. It suited Raven more than it suited Yang, she'd said.

On her first official day at Beacon, upon getting back to her dorm, she finds it sitting on her bunk. Raven must think she's so cute for returning it and the implied meaning the act gives. Or something.

Yang would hardly complain.

Even if she was ready to reunite with the rest in order to help and find Cinder again, there was something pulling Neo back from completely mixing with the civilians yet.

It's not like waiting outside of Vacuo was a great idea, though, but with the help of her Semblance, she could at least make herself a seat and an umbrella to get some more shade. Sure, she could do way more, but she didn't want people to just spot her like if she was a circus.

The only things that have been crossing this area were Grimm, nothing that the illusionist wasn't capable of defeating, but sometimes life made a turn and had a great timing for making two different people meet.

But the last person Neo expected to see, was Raven Branwen.

As soon as the mute spotted the familiar figure, she stood up from where she was sitting, and even if her heart skipped a beat, she stood her ground- smiling.

This could be...interesting.

Does he miss Raven? Does the sun rise in the east and set in the west? Is the moon shattered? Are the Grimm drawn to negative emotions?

It's one of those questions that's barely even a question with how simple the answer is.

But it's also not simple at all. Then again, his relationship with Raven never had been. It had been one of those things that no one had expected to work as much as it did, least of all the two of them.

Taiyang has loved Raven Branwen for decades, at this point, and he still misses her, even now, after everything that has happened, after everything they've been through. And he knows that part of him always will. He'd built this house for them, thinking that they'd spend the rest of their lives together, coming back home after missions, raising Yang, building a life.

And she'd just…..left. And it had broken something in him.

But damn him, yes, he still missed her.

"I'm always gonna miss Raven," he finally says. "I would be lying if I said there's not some hurt there, but….I still love her. That's not gonna change…., and neither is missing her."

Would they be able to just…..pick back up where they left off if she came through that door right now? Absolutely not. But that didn't change how he felt.

it had been so long , & summer was sure that something akin to friendship had sparked between the two . if there was one thing summer was sure of , it was that she didn’t want to lose raven .

“ summer ..” she lightly spoke, the other woman’s name always sounding so gentle in her words. “ i — i’m not here to make friends, i’m here for my training, for the license and then i’m gone .. qrow too, we aren’t here to learn to kill grimm ..— we’re here to learn to kill other huntsmen.” ravens jaw clenched tight.

“this is what our family want from us , what we’ve been taught and what we will do. our family .. the tribe ..” a soft sigh. “that’s all.”
