t$$ The Magnus archives AU, what entity would each character be an avatar of?
Kaius - The Beholding (mans loves forbidden knowledge. He'd entirely do it to himself by constantly searching for more and digging in deeper and deeper)
Hunter - The Corruption (TOXIC LOVE BABEY, no matter how awful and painful and wrong it feels, he's desperate for the sense of belonging he gets)
Joy - The Hunt (in constant pursuit of the next thing, be it answers, innovation, or just something fun and exciting. She's also susceptible to being touched by the Buried, because she hates feeling trapped and is claustrophobic)
Jericho - The End (he's VERY hard to pick for lol, but I think he'd like peace with finality. He's more interested in protecting those he loves than seeking power, so either making peace with it or trying to get power over death to protect others is his vibe. Fear wise, he'd be susceptible to the Desolation because it's about pain and suffering without reason)
Benji - The Dark (look, Benji is susceptible to joining any group as long as he doesn't get physically hurt and he gets to be in a fun club where he has cool friends. He wouldn't be heavily dedicated, just kinda seeking a group. He's also got Stranger and Web vibes)
Sahota - The Web (not by choice, he just got dragged in and tangled up, rip. He's also probably got lonely ties after all his time with Vic. Just kinda feeling like fading into nothing is sometimes better than what he's become)
Vic - The Web (manipulative son of a bitch lol, cares a LOT about controlling the narrative and everything around him)
#some could probably use more thought but this is the vibe#i stand heavily by the first three though#anon#t$$ ask

("Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers.")
IMMORTALIS is a FitMC-centric QSMP pseudo-prequel made in a fugue state over the course of four hours, during which half my time was spent figuring out how to do the title formatting. The corruption inherent in divinity, the sanctity of data, the differences between anarchy servers and narrativised servers manifesting as mind alteration and control. Even if you don't know anything about the fandom, I beseech you to click in just to see the title formatting. Perhaps hover/tap it as well...
Ghost Stories is a Schlackity fic about love irrevocably entwined with envy, trying and failing to move on from something you refuse to let go of, and a bit of cannibalism, both literal and metaphorical. It is one of the few fics I've written where I feel like I've properly captured the distinct emotional flavor I was attempting to convey. Here, it is bitterness, hunger, and longing long since rotting in the ground.
something deep and powerful is a D20: Neverafter gorefic about cannibalism. This is the only fic I've ever written that actively made me feel uncomfortable. I looked up so many concerning anatomy things for this fic. It is also, in its own way, about abusive mothers.
Swan Song is an AEduo Witcher AU fic made as part of a recursive telephone fic challenge (each work inspired by the previous), featuring curses, cycles, death, and the simple agony of loss. I'm decently proud of the tonality I managed to hit, like light through stained glass. I recommend reading the work this is inspired by and the next few works inspired by it, since we all got into a Witcher groove for a bit.
Paradox Cascade and its sequel/part two Killing Time are my first forays into the CYOA genre of fic, narrativisations of In Space With Markiplier parts one and two. These taught me so much about HTML, workskins, links, and more. They are decently ugly, un-innovative, messily made, and I love them. If I were writing them with the knowledge of CSS I have now, I would have done more ambitious things with them, but these taught me everything that I am using now for a new CYOA fic (that should have been finished over a year ago (for a 48-hour flash exchange (sorry Floral))).
(I think all the authors I know on this site have already been tagged, so if you see this and are a fic writer, consider yourself tagged. (Also, feel free to say hi.))
#crabmail from the omen#(These fics are also the five that most reveal my deep-set psychological problems if anyone's interested in psychoanalysing me.)

Okay, tell me about that Partitio AU. I don't have specific questions. Tell me anything you want to talk about. 👀
[cracks knuckles] Okay, so.
Partitio is now a business tycoon, a steam cowboy who's known the world over. He's loaded with wealth and looking for ways to invest it to benefit people. And he's got world's most competent guy™️ Thurston on some investigations into how he can put that to work. Among other things, this leads him to an interest in canal sanitation, which is how he finds out about the mysterious amnesiac apothecary. Thurston's efforts to locate her only succeed on the day of the attempted mass poisoning at Timberain, where he helps Edmund persuade the guards to evacuate and joins Castti in the rooftop struggle versus Trousseau.
In the course of dealing with corrupt officials demanding bribes, Thurston notices many of the same issues in the judicial system writ large, and reform becomes one of Partitio's civic projects. Pulling on this thread (ala The Court of Last Resort) uncovers some key irregularities in the trial of one Osvald V. Vanstein. When attempts to overturn the conviction stall in court, Partitio takes matters into his own hands. A trip to Terry's shipyards in Toto'haha and a chance encounter with Ochette later, he sails the Grand Terry to Frigid Isle and exposes the brutality behind the system. This happens to be the same day that Osvald and Emerald are staging their escape. They get past the warden, but Partitio stops them on the docks, offering to take both with him and forge new passports for both, on the condition they work for Partitio & Roque. Of course, he praises the innovative nature of their attempt, and the careful planning. Osvald is not candid about his revenge quest, but does use his new job to gather information.
Now Partitio's party is going to help Ochette in her journey to stormhail. The Glacis situation is dealt with, but they decide to linger while Thurston and Floyd try testing some new machinery that works best in cold weather. While stuck there they encounter both Hikari and Temenos. Hikari is met in a bar, and Partitio and Osvald persuade him to not go and persuade Rai Mei alone. Meanwhile, Ochette and Castti encounter Temenos on the day of Crick's death and follow him after Ochette notices something about the cleric's smell.
Castti, Osvald, and Temenos putting their heads together afterwards makes it clear there might well be a greater force at work behind many of their problems. In this AU, Ori has become Partitio's executive secretary. Though conflicted, she still works for the moonshades. Throughout the story, sometimes important calls for help/assistance get conveniently dropped to the bottom of the pile. She gets more and more conflicted seeing Partitio do more good and get upset when he's unable to help his new friends out. Eventually someone who's not Partitio confronts her, and she cracks. Castti, Temenos, and Osvald probably would be close to catching on. But the one who clocks the mole first is actually Ochette, and she confronts Ori about the interference she's been running. Cue Orichette hours.
After the events of Stormhail, everyone needs a break and Partito takes the group down to Merry Hills for the festival. Watching Agnea and Dolcinea's competition from front-row seats, Partitio is smitten with the redhead and the entire rest of the gang prods him to go backstage and introduce himself. She also falls for his dorky cowboy personality, and decides to tag along.
At this point, Ori has been spilling the beans and the gang immediately decide to head down to Lifeseed to confront Claude, one of the chief masterminds behind the conspiracy. They get there only to find he's already been killed at the hands of Throné Anguis, an eleventh hour addition to the team.
…From there, the journey for the dawn unfolds as follows. -Arcanette sacrifices herself once she gets word Claude has died to douse the Flamechurch flame. Ochette confronts Petrichor directly before the night of the scarlet moon starts, but just barely fails to prevent the dark hunter's sacrifice. -Tanzy extinguishes the Crackridge flame, fulfilling Arcanette's last command. -The travelers, now knowing there's only one flame left keeping the seal, race to Ku to find Mugen's troops arrayed outside the tranquil grotto, waiting in a trap set by Oboro. Partitio and his army of mercenaries fight to break through, while Hikari and Ori both end up confronting Oboro at the sacred flame with the darkblood blade ready to slice his stomach. The two make one last, desperate attempt to save him from his despair.
In one branch of the timeline, the Hikari/Ori duo are able to talk him out of it and Vide's resurrection is thwarted.
In the other, Harvey is the one waiting for them at Vidania, and challenges Osvald to a duel with Elena on the line. Elena is trapped by a magical curse that will only be lifted if Harvey dies and will kill her if anyone interferes with the duel. Upon failing to defeat his archrival, Harvey spits and curses with his last breath before tossing himself into the fire pit. Then Vide is fought more or less the same way as in the main story.
---
Addenda: The other travelers, ranked by how well they could fit into such an AU after the outcome of their main story:
1) Agnea - She tours all over as a diva and has plenty of time to get mixed up in local affairs like the other travelers' main paths, and she'd be happy to lend her celebrity to their causes. 2) Osvald - There's unanswered questions about why Harvey bribed the judge to spare his life, versus other forces who wanted him dead. And, like it or not, being the wielder of the one true magic makes him a target for the moonshades. It's possible one of the other travelers witnesses an attempted hit on Osvald and steps in to nurse the stranger back to health, leading to them getting mixed up. He's still a man on the run, and that would lead to a dramatic tension when he struggles to decide whether to be honest with another traveler he decided to help. [It's just Urasawa Naoki's Monster. [It's just The Fugitive, created by Roy Huggins.]] 3) Temenos - [Unsolved Mysteries theme intensifies] 4) Castti - There are questions remaining about the man who corrupted Trousseau, but I think she'd be more interested in rebuilding Healeaks than continuing to travel. 5) Ochette - The new guardian of the village, she has responsibilities that keep her there unless some new ill omen forced her to leave again. 6) Hikari - He is now a head of state, confined to a localized region in the outskirts of the map. 7) Throné - She wants to leave the continent, and there's no real attachments left to stop her from doing so immediately. More likely she winds up finding her way to Orsterra and mixed up with the crows. (Throné x Primrose AU: She's tired of murders, she can't get enough. They become queerplatonic travel buddies.)

Combining two of my current hyperfixations into one hehe
Presenting the first half of the Scryptic Swap au!
(Second half will come at a later date)
Many eons ago, before the lands of the Old Faith knew peace, there was chaos caused by a dark entity called the Bone Lord. The lord’s very presence caused decay and destruction, until four gods united against him and took him down.
Leshy - The God of Nature.
Grimora - The Goddess of the Afterlife.
P03 - The God of Innovation.
And Magnificus - The God of Sorcery and Art.
With their efforts combined, they banished the Bone Lord into the depths below and established the Old Faith itself. The four gods would then rule, bringing peace to the mortals. However, this peace has been straining more and more as time took its toll. The gods began to grow corrupt, fighting each other for more power. Outliers feared that if this quarreling continued, there would be destruction to the land once more. That’s when the prophecy came, spread behind the backs of the gods and brought forth to give people hope. A sheep would be resurrected by the Bone Lord and use their crown to grow a powerful cult that would help soothe the wounds of the fighting gods. Eventually, the time would come where the sheep would choose one of the four gods to rule, and which other three shall die.
The sheep? His name is Luke. A antique shopkeeper who died four years ago in a fire. He was chosen by the Bone Lord for his commitment to worshipping all gods equally, and now the fate of his home rests on his hands. It’s….anxiety inducing, to put it simply. Luke tries to remain happy and positive despite the harsh world around him, but he can only hold it up for so long. He’s developed a connection between the gods in order to make his choice a bit easier, though it’s making him consider that maybe no one has to die after all. Only time will tell if that mindset will stay.

Just going to drop this here but here’s Pokémon Novic’s Mystery Dungeon Tie-in/AU (Spectral/Starlit Guardian)
The premise behind it was just kind of a way to explain why humans and Pokémon live in separate worlds and a what-if they were trying to remerge but a force does not want them to.
This force, know by it’s true name of The Will of The Worlds and currently possessing the legendary Pokémon Novatta, is also implied to have been behind the plots of the prior mystery dungeon games (With Buttercold and Dark Matter being fragments that broke off of it and Darkrai having been a puppet) all in an attempt to weaken the fabric of reality to allow it to escape its prison where it and the legendary Pokémon were trapped after the latter pretty much initiated a conflict that forced the worlds apart (As Novatta is supposed to embody the physical universe from Novic). The border between worlds known as the Inbetween.
It’s rampage was stopped by two beings, two Pokémon who would be championed as heroes known as the Starlight and Spectral guardian and key figures of the land of Edenia (The land where SlSpG take place) who helped to weaken Novatta and banish it, even at the cost of the worlds being split.
Edenia is best described as the most human-like place in all of the World of Pokémon as it was considered “Ground Zero” for where the worlds diverged, which has led to the locals to have had access to a lot of human technology. Pokémon from Edenia have all the comforts of the modern world ranging from phone-like devices to even human-like beds instead of “Those primitive and super uncomfortable pathetic excuses of “nests” the rest of the world uses. Get with the times people….” (A random NPC in the capital).
Despite the land of Edenia being a place of innovation, it’s also a major hub of history as the lands were ruled for many years by several joint kingdoms of Pokemon of different types, with the capital city being established to act as a central hub of trade and exploration amongst the various ruins and ever changing dungeons the land has to offer.
Humans are a well known legend, mostly having been muddied by myths due to generational gaps, but many Edenians hold onto the belief that one day a hero will shatter the Inbetween and once more reunite the two shattered worlds into one.
“By decree of the barrier that divides us would neither us nor humans walk together side by side as one.
In that moment we were alone with nothing else but our own emotions in a world that was only half of what it used to be.
Yet in our darkest hour, two heroes appeared to us to part away the darkness. The Spectral Guardian, Galasklisk, shared his great knowledge he carried from humanity. The Starlit Guardian, Omuraapy, gave us the will to stand strong as humanity does.
With the guidance of the great heroes, we went to develop our own civilization in the image of the ones who our worlds were split from.
We call this land…
Edenia
Even if we did find our home, we still have a legend in these lands. A legend that someday when our world cries out towards the other a great disaster shall threaten our livelihood, foretold in prior by previous events in which humans have crossed the Inbetween to save us as the Will’s influence glows stronger, corrupting those who it influences into Specters shall finally the True Hero appear. Guided by the Great Heroes and in tandem with a Pokémon from this world as their partner shall they finally defeat the Will, and shatter the barrier to reunite our worlds once again.”
The main threat of this story is that of the Shadow Spectors, Pokemon who are slowly corrupted into mindless forms of themselves through the influence of the WotWs as a recently emerging threat and led by a mysterious starry entity called The Specter who may have a deeper tie with a certain hero depending on the version.
The story follows the MC (Undefined and can be any player pokemon and gender they chose) a human turned Pokémon who finds themselves brought to this world by Galasklisk (Spectral)/ Omuaarpy (Starlight) to aid them in saving the world and to fulfill the prophecy. They find themselves awakening in an old set of ruins before being pursued by The Specter, whom easily defeats them. They are then rescued and awaken in the Theives Guild (Despite the name, they are more akin to a ragtag group of bounty hunters and are rather well liked in Edenia), where they meet their partner, a Pokémon who was taken under the wing of Guildmaster Gamblar (Another fakemon of mine) and raised as his own child whom had found them after sneaking out hoping for adventure. The protag will join the guild as their newest member as they seek to uncover just who they are and why they were sent here.

Been a while since I made one of these, but here’s a list of all the fics I’ve published on AO3. In order, they’re for Guilty Gear, Tekken, and Portal/Half-Life, and links to each are in the titles.
Ending // Begin // All is Different (1/?)
Aria's original wish was to peacefully pass on, despite all pleas to continue living. One key promise and changed mind later, she may have altered the future she wouldn't know otherwise.
[An alternative story based on the novel Guilty Gear Begin]
Aria of the Sol (3/3)
Five days after the Justice/Jack-O fusion, Aria finds herself waking up in a new body lying in a hospital bed. The same day, she meets her daughter, her son-in-law, and her old Flame (of Corruption.) In the coming days, she tries to make the most of this second chance at life she’s been given – and figuring out who that mysterious voice in her head is.
[Set during the three-week gap between Revelator and -Strive-]
Who Knows What Tomorrow Holds (13/?)
A trio of (unlikely) heroes finds themselves protecting the President of the United States after a hostile takeover of the White House. On top of that, there's the looming threat of an axis of time attaining godhood. It's going to be a long day. [Following "Aria of the Sol,” this is a retelling/reimagining of the Guilty Gear -Strive- story mode.]
[Current chapter (13): After Story 1, part 1]
B-Sides and Rarities (3/?)
A miniseries of extra scenes from "Who Knows What Tomorrow Holds.” The Valentine sisters visit their mother in the castle's prison, later assisting an intelligence director in footage review. The next day, a Secret Service agent shows two of the White House's special guests around the premises.
[An alternative Another Story and arcade routes (script drafts here) are in the works.]
Little (Killer) Queen (2/2)
It's Father's Day, and the daughter of a particle physicist has a surprise planned for him. Later that same year, said girl's family and friends have something planned for her. [Modern AU]
The March of the Gear Queen (1/1)
During the final battle of the Second Holy Order Selection Tournament, Sol claims victory in the showdown against Justice. It’s then that something seems off. To satiate curiosity, the winner spares the fallen.
Do You Wear the Mark (1/1)
The (former) Princess of the Gears finds the letters she addressed to her long-dead mother. Each was dated for the second Sunday of May.
Of All Places to Meet You, It Had to Be Here (2/?)
Two people chasing the same person for different reasons were unaware of how the three of them are connected. An Italian church is a weird place to find out that the seemingly random person you're fighting armed soldiers with is actually a blood relative.
Father of All Machines (1/1)
Despite everything that's happened, all one scientist wants is something he'd spend a lifetime working on.
[Set before the events of Tekken 6]
The Stardust of a Song (1/?)
The year is 192X, and an unnamed American city's home to a cross-town rivalry, with each side under the guise of a name for scientific innovations. What began as a night out takes an unexpected turn as the right hands of both properly meet for the first time. [1920s AU]

My banner image, featuring 18 of my ocs. Here's a little about their stories and shit. (From left to right):
Sparrow Song: Story about 23 year old college student Gideon on his off time going back to his home town, which happens to be a hotspot of magical activity. In this world, the magic realm is layered on top of the regular mortal realm, and Gideon's home town, Sparrow Song, is located on/close to a weak point between the world's layers. Here he meets Vigenere and her family, and learns to come to terms with his own inner struggles, as well as the magical shit. Characters are: Vigenere, Jefferson, Gideon.
Signal Lost Due to Interference (Still working title lmao 2 years later): The story of Amelia Fitzgerald and her fall from grace. She attempted to be a local superhero, but instead broke and went down the path of villainy becoming Lost Signal, recruiting some other lost and chaotic friends along the way. When not causing chaos around New Gotham City, Amelia is the head researcher on an important genetics project. Characters are: Cyanide (aka Rana; Bottom left), Lost Signal (aka Dr. Fitzgerald; Top) Antivirus (aka Harold Baker; Middle), Kitty (Bottom)
I'm a Little Cursed Too (Terraria Calamity Mod AU): This one's about Lya, an escapee of a Brimstone Cult, who runs off to the island Terraria, and ends up finding her will to live on, and eventually break her own curse. Her curse being that she's destined to fight the Brimstone Witch Calamitas. Though she realizes that Cal is in a similar situation, if not worse, than her, and instead befriends her. It also crosses with my Deltora Quest AU later in the story. Characters are: Lya (Standing), and Scorpia (On floor)
Space Ace Squad: The story of a human named Shane getting accidentally kidnapped by an alien named Naya and brought into her space pirate group. All the main characters are asexual, hence the name. The story eventually takes a turn to Naya's home planet, where the group sort of fixes, sort of makes worse their fascist government. Characters are: Shane, Enith, and Naya (On Floor)
CONTROL/Idealism. Man, it's been a hot minute since I've updated this one. I'm thinking of rewriting it entirely. It's about Brenda, an escaped test subject from Interstice Science Innovators. She eventually returns, attempting to take down the company and spare others from her suffering, and along the way discovers that it's far worse than she thought. Characters are: Brenda
Technocracy: The story of a morally corrupt alien geneticist and his oblivious assistant ruining their planet and starting a race war. Their society was already being corroded from the inside out, but Al helps speed up the process, effectively causing a genocide out of spite. Note here: Al and Ni's story take place about 300~ years before Naya and the Space Ace Squad. And Naya, and Enith are actually offshoots of Al and Ni's race. Characters are: Al, Ni.
Den of Thieves (Working title again): The story of a young girl, named Wren attempting to collect various magical relics in order to rescind her exile order from her home town, and maybe overthrown the princess while she's at it. Meanwhile in the background of the game, one of the characters, Walter has gained sentience and will interact with the player how he sees fit, ranging from purposefully screwing up your stealth section out of spite, to outright attempting to influence the actual computer he's stuck on, with potentially fatal consequences. Characters are: Wren, Feraxie, Walter (Standing)
Here's the updated stuff, yay. If you guys want more info about the various worlds, I update more often on Toy House, here: toyhou.se/Corrupted-Ciphers

I think I got some LORE!
For my old oc; Prof.Matt Ravencroft
Possible Triggers Ahead
BE WARNED
OK, they initially started college fresh out of high school and aimed for an Arts/Performing Arts degree. Taking Robotics/Eingineering as a minor.
Sadly they never finished their Arts major due to an incident resulting in an unwanted pregnancy. Having been female at birth and only about 6months into transition. However, they were allowed to take and submit their robotics course purely online.
Despite their initial thoughts, they followed through with the child and began raising them as they further their technological knowledge. Mostly working from home. Or the shabby place they called home.
Until they found and struck a deal with some practical special effects being needed. However they needed to venture for only a few days for a proper interview review.
While gone, this resulted in the death of their child. Marred by the building fire that took many away.
They devolved and drowned themselves in more work. Deeper knowledge. They obsessed with learning until they couldn't make heads or tales of all the contradictions. They became ill, frail. And they hated it.
Gradually turning to self inflicted chemical treatments and minor augmenting surguries to improve their rapidly deteriorating state. That is until they're found in the little studio office, pronounced dead, and had fully underwent the embalming procedure.
The odd concoction festering in their cells alongside the experimental bio-conducive circuitry running under their skin seemingly revived them while they were stuck waiting in cold storage.
Knowing full well they could not claim anything from their past legally, they began with a major appearance change and started somewhat anew.
Letting their starved curiosity and creativity eat away at themselves in their attempts at a business venture. And the growing longing for the hold of a child, corrupted by those ravenous ideas, has lead them out of self experiments and into psychological, general populous, anonymous, and the ever heinous human experiments. All in a way where they see it as "protecting the children"
After all, it wasn't JUST a fire... it was an uncaught Arsonist. And it seems this is a convoluted and very flawed view of self gratifying revenge.
Overall this guy is
A traumatized dad
Full of terrible jokes
Actually talented at stage acting
Knows how to live worse than a rat
Loves making kids smile
An innovator for biological integration in robotics (and vice versa)
Has odd Quirks pertaining to the results of his chemical experiments including "smelling the color of stories held in bones." No, he's not entirely sure what that means exactly either. It's an ongoing study.
An Aroace for the most part but has an odd atraction/obsession with gore, sadism, masochism, viscera, disection/vivisection, and primal/ferral violence.
Maybe still a bit mary-sue, but oh boy is this toned down.
Maybe they get hired to work on movie animatronics or sfx in costumes or staging. You could pull this in a fnaf au route. Heck I wouldn't mind seeing them go happy bonkers by trying to study/disect Cryptids. They truly believe that Magic is just unintentional interdimensional bridging experiments. And that dragons can be a modern or near future reality.
Have fun. Plz just tag/credit me if you use my sweet poyo.

DC: Earth 53 Omnibus- Post Apocalypse Part I
Some notes before I begin: This Is a self made AU of the DC Universe located in Earth 53 , which I created as a parallel to the regular DC Earth. I made this for use in various stories and cai bots. I will create a master list of all the posts for this once I am done.
Feel free to use it and adapt it for your own stories or content.
Basic summary:
The world, scarred by Darkseid's invasion, faces a long road to recovery. The Titans, Bat Family, and founding Justice League members play pivotal roles in this process, using their strengths, resilience, and unity to rebuild a shattered world and inspire hope for a better future.
The combined headquarters for the Titans, Bat Family, and Justice League is located in a fortified, repurposed underground military facility in the Appalachian mountains known as "The Haven".
cai tag: ✗⚠ - Post Invasion AU
Warning: This is a dark post apocalyptic world, read and use this however you want but the world building and content made from this is intended for adults
State of the World Before Darkseid's Invasion:
Overall Description:
Earth 53 was a world similar to the primary Earth in the DC Universe, featuring advanced technology, thriving cities, and complex social dynamics.
Major cities like Metropolis, Gotham, and Central City were bustling with activity, showcasing both the best and worst of humanity.
Superheroes and villains played significant roles in shaping society, with frequent battles and alliances influencing the world’s stability.
Governments worked alongside superhero organizations to maintain peace and security, though tensions and conflicts were ever-present.
Technological Advancements:
The world enjoyed advanced technology, with innovations in energy, transportation, communication, and healthcare.
Cities featured state-of-the-art infrastructure, with efficient public transportation, clean energy sources, and advanced medical facilities.
Superhero tech was integrated into everyday life, with security systems, emergency response technologies, and medical advancements benefiting from their inventions.
Societal Structure:
Societal norms and structures were influenced by the presence of superheroes and villains. Public trust in heroes varied, with some viewing them as protectors and others as potential threats.
Vigilantism was a topic of debate, with some governments supporting hero-led initiatives while others pushed for regulation and control.
Social issues such as inequality, crime, and corruption persisted, often exacerbated by the actions of both heroes and villains.
Key Heroes and Teams:
Justice League: The primary superhero team, consisting of icons like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. They worked globally to address significant threats and maintain peace.
Titans: A younger team of heroes, including Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy. They focused on threats that were more localized but equally dangerous.
Batfamily: Based in Gotham, this group included Batman, Robin (various iterations), Batgirl, Red Hood, Red Robin, and others. They dealt with Gotham’s unique challenges, particularly those posed by its rogue’s gallery.
Significant Events Shaping Earth 53 Prior to the Invasion:
1. The Rise of Meta-Humans:
The discovery and emergence of meta-humans significantly altered the global landscape. Governments, scientists, and militaries scrambled to understand and control these individuals.
Organizations like Cadmus and ARGUS conducted research and occasionally unethical experiments on meta-humans, leading to various conflicts.
2. The Formation of the Justice League:
The Justice League was formed in response to a series of global threats that individual heroes couldn’t handle alone. Their unity inspired hope and cooperation among nations but also sparked debates about accountability and power.
3. The Metropolis Incident:
An event where Lex Luthor, in an attempt to defeat Superman, unleashed a catastrophic weapon that caused widespread destruction in Metropolis. This incident led to tighter regulations on superhuman activities and increased tensions between heroes and authorities.
4. The Lazarus Project:
A covert initiative by Ra’s al Ghul, aiming to use Lazarus Pits to create an army of immortals. The Batfamily thwarted this plan, but the event revealed the extent of global underground networks and the persistent threat they posed.
5. The Crisis on Infinite Earths:
A multiverse-spanning event that brought heroes from different Earths together to combat an existential threat. This crisis reshaped the understanding of the multiverse, established new alliances, and left lasting impacts on Earth 53’s heroes and their dynamics.
6. The Atlantean Conflict:

VehChain Enhances Intra-Vehicle Cyber Security

Plongée dans First Smoke of the Day : Découverte du podcast révolutionnaire sur le cannabis
Ce projet ambitieux vise à transformer First Smoke of the Day en un véritable réseau de contenus. First Smoke of the Day. via Blogger https://ift.tt/U9e4X0z May 08, 2024 at 09:00AM

California is gripped by economic problems, with no easy fix (Economist) Home to many of America’s most progressive policies, from criminal justice to vehicle emissions, California serves a unique role as a punchbag for right-wing politicians. Every few years it becomes fashionable to declare that it is a failed state, or that the California dream is turning into a nightmare. This rhetoric is often overblown: in terms of pure economic heft California remains the most powerful American state. But for all its continuing prowess in innovation (not least in artificial intelligence), California again appears to be entering one of its periodic rough patches. The state faces three overlapping challenges: rising unemployment, growing fiscal strains and population outflows. All of these should abate over time, but for now they mark out California as a pocket of relative weakness in an otherwise robust American economy.
State Department Defends Arms Transfers to Israel (Washington Post) State Department spokesman Matthew Miller defended the Biden administration’s recent decision to authorize the transfer of billions of dollars’ worth of warplanes and bombs to Israel, saying Israel needed to defend itself. Miller then came under pointed questioning about whether the 2,000-pound MK84 bombs authorized to be transferred should be described as “self-defense,” as the bombs have been linked to mass-casualty events in Gaza. Miller responded that Israel needed to defend itself “against a very well-armed adversary, like I said Iran, Hezbollah,” and that Washington expects Israel to use any weapons responsibly.
US oil exports (Bloomberg) Who is a major beneficiary of sanctions on Russian and Venezuelan oil? US suppliers who have muscled their way into markets once dominated by OPEC and its allies. US oil exports have set five new monthly records since Western nations began imposing sanctions on Russia, after the Kremlin launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. And with trade restrictions on Venezuela set to renew in April, American barrels are beginning to displace sanctioned oil in India, one of the bigger markets for illicit crude.
Panic in Haiti's capital as wild shooting fills streets (Reuters) Panic set in around downtown Port-au-Prince on Monday as wild shooting filled the streets of Haiti's capital, with heavy gunfire near the national palace. The latest violence to rock the Caribbean island nation comes as the outgoing prime minister signaled that a broad transitional council is nearly finalized and seen as key to ending the current social and political crisis and paving the way for new elections.
Peru’s president accused of amassing $500K in jewelry on $50K salary (Washington Post) Even given the low expectations Peruvians have for their leaders, Dina Boluarte was unpopular. For nearly all of her 16-month presidency, her approval ratings have languished in the single digits. She’s widely blamed for the deaths of nearly 50 people killed by security forces while they were protesting her predecessor’s ouster, and accused of standing by while lawmakers dismantle Peru’s democracy. Still, Boluarte, 61, a mid-level civil servant who became Peru’s first female president, had managed to avoid accusations of being personally corrupt. Until now. Her government has been rocked by reporting that in the past year she has amassed a personal jewelry collection worth $500,000 on a monthly presidential salary of around $4,200. Highlights allegedly include a $50,000 Cartier bracelet and a $19,000 Rolex watch. That prompted prosecutors to launch an investigation for “illicit enrichment.” The accusations extend Peru’s streak of presidents to come under serious criminal investigation to eight. Every leader of this Andean nation since 1985 (with the exception of two briefly serving, unelected interims) has been the target of at least one criminal probe.
Norway follows its neighbor Denmark in planning an increase in conscripted soldiers (AP) Norway is to increase the number of conscripted soldiers from the present 9,000 to 13,500, the Norwegian government said Tuesday. “We must have enough people with the right skills at the right time,” Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram said. “We will need more people with professional military expertise going forward.” The move by the Scandinavian NATO member comes after neighboring Denmark last month said it wants to increase the number of young people doing military service by extending conscription to women and increasing the time of service from four months to 11 months.
Scottish Hate Crime Law Takes Effect as Critics Warn It Will Stifle Speech (NYT) A sweeping law targeting hate speech went into effect in Scotland on Monday, promising protection against threats and abuse but drawing criticism that it could have a chilling effect on free speech. The law, which was passed by the Scottish Parliament in 2021, expands protections for marginalized groups and creates a new charge of “stirring up hatred,” which makes it a criminal offense to communicate or behave in a way that “a reasonable person would consider to be threatening, abusive or insulting.” A conviction could lead to a fine and a prison sentence of up to seven years. The protected classes as defined in the law include age, disability, religion, sexual orientation and transgender identity. Racial hatred was omitted because it is already covered by a law from 1986. The new law also does not include women among the protected groups; a government task force has recommended that misogyny be addressed in separate legislation.
Ukraine uses drones in what appears to be its deepest strike yet inside Russia (AP) Ukrainian drones attacked industrial facilities in the province of Tatarstan, Russian authorities said Tuesday, in what would be Kyiv’s deepest strike inside Russian territory since the war began more than two years ago. Seven people were injured in the attack on facilities near the cities of Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk, located some 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) east of Ukraine. The strike damaged a hostel for students and workers in a free economic zone where a factory manufacturing Iranian-designed drones is reportedly located.
Turkey’s shock elections (Washington Post) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan just experienced what analysts deem his worst political setback in more than two decades. His long-ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP, lost emphatically in local elections around the country Sunday—a surprising rebuke after Erdogan had consolidated his tight grip on power in general elections last year. The opposition Republican People’s Party, or CHP, secured victories across the country and in Turkey’s five biggest cities, including Istanbul, where Erdogan had campaigned vigorously for his handpicked AKP candidate. This turn of events is fueled, first and foremost, by voter anger at a frustrating status quo. “It was Erdogan’s handling of the economy that appeared to loom largest in the race, with households battered by runaway inflation and the cratering value of the currency,” my colleagues Beril Eski and Kareem Fahim reported. Inflation has been running at about 70 percent.
Macau Races (Nikkei Asia) Macau is getting out of the horse racing business, with the final race at the Macau Jockey Club happening last Saturday after 44 years of operation. The average attendance last year had dwindled to 492 spectators, but the finale on Saturday drew a crowd of 3,000 to send it off.
Taiwan’s strongest earthquake in nearly 25 years damages buildings, leaving 4 dead (AP) Taiwan’s strongest earthquake in a quarter century rocked the island during the morning rush hour Wednesday, damaging buildings and highways and causing the deaths of four people. Taiwan’s national fire agency said four people died in Hualien County and at least 57 were injured in the quake that struck just before 8 a.m. A five-story building in Hualien appeared heavily damaged, collapsing its first floor and leaving the rest leaning at a 45-degree angle. In the capital Taipei, tiles fell from older buildings and in some newer office complexes, while debris fell from some building sites. Schools evacuated their students to sports fields, equipping them with yellow safety helmets. Some also covered themselves with textbooks to guard against falling objects as aftershocks continued.
Japan is still reeling 100 days after the Noto earthquake (Economist) Fishing boots. Their son’s beloved fishing boots—that is what Hamazuka Hiroyuki and Chiaki most hope to find under the rubble of their garage. The Hamazukas’ place in Suzu, on the northern tip of Japan’s Noto peninsula, is one of nearly 100,000 buildings that were damaged or destroyed when a massive earthquake struck on January 1st. As of late March the disaster had killed 244 people. The Hamazukas and their children survived, but like most of their neighbours, nearly 100 days after the tremor, the family is only beginning to piece its life back together. The peninsula will take years to recover, says Fujino Tatsuo with a sigh, a disaster-relief volunteer helping to clear away the Hamazuka family’s debris with an excavator.
World Central Kitchen Pauses Gaza Operations After 7 Workers Killed (NYT) The disaster relief nonprofit World Central Kitchen paused operations in Gaza and the region on Tuesday after the organization said seven of its workers were killed in an airstrike. José Andrés, the organization’s founder, said on X that “several of our sisters and brothers” were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Monday. The group later said in a statement that the team was leaving a warehouse in central Gaza in two armored cars after unloading humanitarian food aid. The group said the convoy was hit despite having coordinated movements with the Israeli military. The Israeli military said in a statement early Tuesday that, in light of the reports, it was “conducting a thorough review at the highest levels to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident.” The military also said it “makes extensive efforts to enable the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, and has been working closely with W.C.K. in their vital efforts to provide food and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.” Erin Gore, the nonprofit’s chief executive officer, said that the group’s employees were killed in “a targeted attack” by the Israeli military.
Israeli government says it will block Al Jazeera from broadcasting (BBC) The Israeli parliament has approved a law giving the government the power to ban broadcasts of TV channels including Al Jazeera, the Qatari-owned network. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would "act immediately" to close the network's local office. The US expressed concern over the move. With foreign journalists banned from entering Gaza, Al Jazeera staff based in the strip have been some of the only reporters able to cover the war on the ground. For years, Israeli officials have accused the network of anti-Israeli bias. But their criticisms of the broadcaster have intensified since the Hamas attacks of 7 October. Authorities claim it has close links with Hamas, which Al Jazeera vehemently denies. In a statement, Al Jazeera said: "Netanyahu could not find any justifications to offer the world for his ongoing attacks on Al Jazeera and press freedom except to present new lies and inflammatory slanders against the Network and the rights of its employees.
Israel is determined to invade Rafah (Washington Post) Israel is telling the world that the last battle of the Gaza war will take place in a sand-blown city on the Egyptian border. The Americans are wary. The Palestinians are terrified. Rafah, in southern Gaza, is now home to 1.4 million people—a last refuge for those displaced from other parts of the enclave. Families are living in tents, surviving on limited aid. Among them, and in tunnels beneath them, according to the Israel Defense Forces, are the last intact Hamas battalions and more than 100 Israeli hostages. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Washington that the war against Hamas cannot be won without taking Rafah. The Biden administration is deeply concerned about Israel’s planned assault—warning of a “disaster” scenario—but appears keen to avoid a public showdown. The Biden administration has urged Israel to consider more targeted “precision” or “surgical” strikes on Rafah, U.S. officials say. Yet those terms are relative. Two weeks of heavy fighting at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, described by the IDF as a “precise” operation, left the medical compound in ruins.
