It is actually so funny to get back online to learn that someone's been block evading, discover on desktop that I have 7 asks that have since been erased from my inbox because the person's account was nuked for it, and find out it's because a mutual is not changing their mind about a ship that I have literally never mentioned publicly because it's that boring to me. Like, bruh, sorry, get better taste, idk what else to tell you

Calling this situation a "mess" was an understatement. The city, overrun with their countrymen gone insane and rogue Magitek; the imperial palace had faired no better, if not worse. The few civilians they had been able to save were terrified, weakened from the cold and hunger, and what was left of his soldiers could offer little in the way of succor or solace. None understood what was happening or why, including himself. All they could do was hole themselves up within this train station and wait, either for the other legions to arrive to assist, or for death. Quintus gritted his teeth in pain, but a low hiss still escaped in the form of a sharp exhale. He had been laid out on one of the train car's seats, his armor removed and greatsword placed elsewhere, so that the medicus could tend to his wounds. But there was only so much that they could do without the proper tools at their disposal. His torso and leg had been patched up with makeshift bandages, but the prognosis was grim considering that their main defense against infection -- and to curb the pain -- was pouring liquor onto the afflicted areas. The bitter, unrelenting cold stung worse than usual, probably because of the wounds to his pride. The power that had been keeping the aetheryte running was being diverted to keep Tertium's lights powered and the heaters running, but how long would it last? And how long could they hold out here regardless, given their lack of available supplies and resources? Yet there was nowhere to go, nowhere to escort the civilians to for their safety… "Damn," the Legatus cursed under his breath, forcing himself into a half-upright position in spite of his body's screams of agony at the movements. Even the limited materials used to tend to him could have, should have been used to treat the rest of the wounded, and yet… He shook his head as if to shake away those thoughts. If he were to die, after all, who would guide his men? Even his second-in-command had fallen during their escape from the palace and city. His gaze shifted over to the tattered Garlean standard that had been set up nearby in the car, and his jaw tensed, lips pursing before he spoke again, more to himself than to anyone else: "T'would seem we are at an impasse."

Tues. April 11, 2023: A Promised Stretch of Good Weather to Support The Writing
image courtesy of Jill Wellington via pixabay.com Tuesday, April 11, 2023 Waning Moon Sunny and pleasant Ready to curl up and catch up? It looks like we’re plunging straight into summer, skipping spring this week. Friday was frustrating. On the upside, I managed to write 9 ½ pages on FALL FOREVER. I caught up with Thursday’s missed pages, wrote Friday’s pages, and worked ahead through…
