You and Coral met in school, probably because of a shared interest!!

You were both kids, Coral was playing with the sand behind the school (making castles etc.) and you joined her because you thought her castle was very cool

"Can you help me build a sand castle cool like yours?" and Coral rolled her eyes, "Fine. But you have to follow my instructions, okay?"

After that you two spent a lot of time together

You fell first but Coral fell harder

You started dating around age 15, you asked her out (you were terrified.)

"Coral? I was thinking, maybe, if you want... We could go to the beach tonight? Like we used to do when we were kids?" You're extremely nervous, kicking rocks down the path as you two walk side by side.

Coral shrugs, hands in her pockets, "Sure. I'll tell Mizzen-"

"Actually, I was wondering if it could be just the two of us?"

Coral accepts, though she's confused because you almost never hang out without Mizzen

When you arrive at the beach, you immediately throw yourself in the water, trying to have Coral to join you

I think Coral hates swimming tbh. I don't know why, I just get that feeling

Takes a bit of convincing but she finally jumps in the water with you

You start playing around like splashing each other and just, enjoying your time together

Then, when you get out and are drying your hair with a towel you finally grow the guts to confess your feelings

"Coral I... I think I like you. Like, as a crush." You specify, when you see Coral's confused look.

It takes her a bit to make what you said sink in, but when she does she walks over to you looking all serious

You're scared because you think you fucked up, but then she looks at you sweetly and goes "Can I kiss you?"

And then you kiss!!! It's like you imagined it during all those sleepless nights when you'd have sleepovers, dreaming of the moment you were currently living

You can't believe it's happening, and when you break apart, you start softly laughing, Coral joining in

You tell Mizzen the day after and he's like "I KNEW IT! Thought it'd take you less to date though"

You go on lots of dates (dates being code word for walking around the block and talking about anything

Which is something you did before too, but now you also kiss and cuddle

I can see Coral preparing some sort of picnic surprise for you for your birthday, under the tree where you two would relax under on summer nights

"I- why?" Carl looks over the edge of the Spiderman comic, eyebrows pulled together in a way that makes you wanna kiss the shit out of him. You sigh dramatically and sit up from where you laid on the bed, snatching his comic.

"What the fuck?! Give it back baby" Carl protested, already reaching for the comic you've placed behind you. Tutting your tongue, you grab those outstretched hands and kiss his knuckles. Carls face immediately alights with an adorable blush — maybe you could skip the nail painting and just make out?

"Let me paint them and I'll give it back" You grin as you hold tight to his very pretty hands. He debates internally but decides he really needs to finish that comic; its an issue with black cat and she's really hot, not as hot as you of course but still..

"Ugh okay fine" He pouts, failing at hiding his smile when you laugh victoriously. Picking up the blue nail polish to match your own, you begin painting his nails with such a gentle touch Carl swears you're an angel. Until you, totally by accident, leave a long swipe of the polish on his thumb.

"whoops" you say dryly with an endearing smirk, continuing to paint on the Weezer blue color. Carl just rolls his eyes, leaning forward to kiss your forehead while affectionately calling you a bumbling idiot!

Once the paint dries, you run around to everyone in your guys group and show off his 'pretty nails'. Carl's face burns red while this happens but he can't help but enjoy it, your giggles and smiles making the embarrassment worth it.

pairing: platonic!mizzen x mentor!reader summary: for the last assignment of the year you and the other top 23 students of the academy were assigned a tribute to turn into a spectacle for the watchers; you just wished you didn’t get the young boy with such soulful eyes. warnings: canon death, second person, scenes used from the movies (besides some changes I made) based on the song ‘i bet on loosing dogs’ by mitski

the first time you looked into those soulful eyes were when they were filled with tears, the emotional distress not hidden from watching eyes of the capital who only smirked and chuckled at the illuminating picture.

“district 4 male tribute, goes to (name) (last name),” you could vaguely hear the giggles coming off your classmates at your misfortune but you payed no mind, only looking at the bottom of the screen where it held his name; Mizzen.

you decided that the best way to gain his trust would be by proving yourself. so here you were, on the platform waiting for the district 4 tributes to be escorted out of their section of the train with a couple bottles of water and an assortment of wrapped goods.

when they did, the first that stepped out was festus’s tribute—radiating a threatening aura that almost made you back off—before mizzen popped his head out which made your confidence spike, knowing you would take your chances with coral if that meant keeping him fed.

“excuse me,” your voice was soft and your touch even softer as you tried to get the attention of the peacekeepers escorting them, at first not even gathering their attention but the two tributes instead which caused them to stop in their place.

the men clad in grey looked towards what gathered their attention, making them stop in annoyance, your crimson academy uniform alerting them of a possible reason you’d be here.

glad you had gotten the recognition you needed you hastily stumbled out the words before they were transported into the other car waiting just a few feet away, “i brought something for my tribute, i would like for them to have it before they’re taken away.”

despite their obvious reluctance they knew you came from a family that held a high place in society, which meant if they didn’t oblige they could possibly loose their job (if you decided to be petty), so they hesitantly gave you a nod which caused a smile of appreciation to bloom on your face.

quickly, you pulled out two wrapped sandwiches—grilled cheese and turkey—and a bottle of water before making your way infront of mizzen who coral was ultimately guarding, “i didn’t know what you liked, but i know this is better than starving.”

and when mizzen didn’t immediately grasp your offerings, you shot a look to coral trying your best to show you didn’t mean any harm, hoping to persuade her so she could lower her guard on him. there was a prolonged pause before she stepped away, mizzen eagerly grabbing the food before looking up at you.

you smiled at him one last time before leaning close to his ear to whisper to him, “i’ll come find you again soon to bring you more food. i’ll see you later, alright?”

and as the peacekeepers led them into the cattle car you could almost make out the childish smile he shot your way in thanks.

his form was jittery as you entered the arena, his eyes consuming every inch of the place where his body would take it’s last breaths if he didn’t emerge as the victor. the swirling thoughts in his brain making him oblivious to the fact that he had desperately grasped onto your hand.

at first, shock coursed through your body but seeing the far-away look in his eyes you let him grasp onto you for comfort, gently leading him around the arena as you scoped out for places he could hide or when he needed it to have the advantage.

only minutes after, your attention was averted to the shakiness under your legs just before a burst of dust tumbled down. immediately taking action, you tugged on the hand you were holding so you could lead him to safety, completely disregarding yours…disregarding that a piece of debris was coming right for you.

the impact was rough, causing your hands to break apart as the rubble casted it’s weight over your legs. but when he looked back with fear in his eyes all you did was call out to him to run.

and when your eyes were slipping shut, the last thing you saw was mizzen desperately fighting the peacekeepers hold as he called out for them to help you.

all you could do was watch from the screen as the holographic snakes broke out of their confinements and slithered across the dirtied arena floor. mizzen’s pace slowing for just a second as exhaustion finally caught up to him, unknowingly giving the snakes an open opportunity for another kill. tears prickling at the corners of your eyes as wave after wave consumed his body.

the venom was quick to kill most of his nerves, enough that instead of seeing coral looking back at him he saw you. a desperate plea leaving his lips in his final moments, “(name!!)”

i’m losing by their side

“and there goes merciless mizzen!” lucky flickerman excitedly announced, “have a good summer (last name)!”

you hastily got up from your chair, head up high until you were fully out of everyone’s view. only to quickly cover your mouth to quell the beginning of your anguished sobs, as you stood alone outside—those soulful eyes now dark and void of life.

How irresponsible, Mark thinks. The Farmer is always stretching themselves thin. From managing their farm, running people's errands, fighting monsters within the shadows–the Farmer has a lot on their plate.

And despite Mark's initial indifference towards the Farmer, pity begins to well when he sees the Farmer sleeping so soundly beneath the tree in the Woodlands. Sleeping so peacefully that even the bypassing insects weren't startled by their moving chest.

Might be from exhaustion, he thinks. No wonder; day and night the Farmer goes here and there doing things of many sorts.

Mark sighs. How can the Farmer be so irresponsible. Sure, sleeping on the open grass under the shade of the oak tree seems nice, but he'd reckoned the Farmer might get rashes and itches all across their body.

Mark approaches the Farmer, crouching so that he can see the Farmer's face that is partially obscured by their straw-hat (did the Farmer bought it recently?), gently nudging the Farmer to wake.

Yet, the Farmer remains oblivious towards Mark's nudging. Instead, they lean more towards the tree, a small, satisfied smile etches across their face as they say "Just five more minutes," as though Mark was waking the Farmer up from their daily sleep.

Mark sighs, again. How helpless. With one swift motion, Mark hoists the Farmer up, craddling them protectively to ensure their security within his arms before walking. Their home is not that far, so it is not that far of a journey.

But such sudden movement immediately jolts the Farmer awake, their eyes widen as they were lifted out from the earth below before they begin to register the presence of strong arms around them, securing them in place. Only when the Farmer turns towards Mark does they speak.

"M-mark?!" the Farmer's mouth agape, still trying to make sense of the situation, "What are you doing?"

"Bringing you home," Mark says, his face stoic and cold as ever yet his tone betrays the warmth that already exuding within, "You're tired."

The Farmer doesn't know what to say to that. Indeed, they were tired.

"I..." Alas, there's no other appropriate response but a little, "Thank you... Mark..."

Despite his overall apathetic aura, his lips quirk upwards a bit, though not noticeable enough for anyone to notice.

"You know, it's amazing how you manage to keep all those plants alive..." he sighs, now the Farmer's farm is within views. He sees a vast piece of land decorated by nothing but crops that the Farmer had planted. Otherwise, there's untouched land beyond the fences.

"Yet you can barely take care of yourself." and Mark's expression soften a bit. He then looks down at the Farmer, who has a bewildered expression across their face.

"You ought to take better care of yourself, okay?" and as if the last wall had collapsed, the Farmer witnesses Mark smiling. Not at anyone else. Or anything else. But at them.

The Farmer smiles. Again, still confused, yet they're slowly taking in this development.

"Thank you, Mark."

✦Even if she was hurting she couldn't help but feel always way better when she would hear your voice, it calmed her down and brought her down to earth and distracted her from her injuries

✧As you grew older she always insisted that you take more frequent breaks because she hated when you'd feel burned out

✦As you were teens she had a rebellious phase and she often insisted on taking you on a ride on her sea horse and explore beyond Tearcrown, sometimes she'd even sneak out quality foods and sweets that only loyalty could eat so you can have at least a taste.

✧After growing up she accepted that she has feelings for you and sees you as equal, and one day as she took you to your childhood favourite spot and there she confessed in the privacy of your secret place, and as you sat there you two made two bracelets for eachother that represented your love for each other

✦And by her orders she explained to the guards that she would feel way safer if you'd join her for the night and that's how now you guys are cuddling close, to each others arms, and this action always brings crimson coral closure and piece

✧She really likes holding you and you holding her, her entire day schedule is filled with little to to physical touch, so, at the end of the day, having you in her grasp, just brings her so much happiness and just a calm feeling that drives her to a peaceful slumber.

"To be honest, I wouldn't know what I would have done without you"

𖤓One thing she vividly remembers is this specific scenario from when she was younger:

𖤓'sat in front of the mirror, and some of her sisters trying their best to untangle her hair without it biting their arms off, so her hair would always be unstylised and sometimes tangled in which thay would make her quite insecure'

𖤓But when she heard that you'd be a sort of personal maid/butler for her she was kind of concerned how her hair would react because she didn't want it to intimate you or hurt you

𖤓But surprisingly it didn't really have a problem with you, it didn't have a problem with you touching it, brushing it and overall styling it. She was in awe when you managed to do it for the first time and from then on she insisted that you'd help her with this matter

𖤓Slowly by having hair styling sessions you two would talk with eachother and open up about past experiences, what you liked and didn't like etc etc.

𖤓And as time went by you two became inseparable, and because of her more closed off nature she really placed a lot trust in you, she'd always trust you with some more sensitive feelings of hers and she'd always appreciate the way you'd reassure her and your presence would always make her feel better.

𖤓After a while when she noticed she had feelings she mostly kept them to herself, of course you are the one that she trusts the most, but it felt like something so intimate that she just had to keep it in

𖤓But even if it was a secret, her actions weren't repressed one bit, now she'd subconsciously stand closer to you, her finns would flapp and rice up when she'd see you and the star that hangs at the back of her head would glow just a little brighter.

𖤓And Golden Citrine cookie teased the hell out of Mystic Opal when she caught up with her infatuation with you and by the end encouraged her to confess because by the end of the day she can't just hide her feelings forever

𖤓And she took het sisters advice at heart and the hole week she was preparing herself to confess but by the end of the week she was so stressed about confessing to you that she accidentally distanced herself away from you

𖤓And as you were preparing her hair for her night routine before bed you questioned if you did something to upset her, at that moment she realised she can't take it no longer and just let it all out

𖤓By the end, she ended up crying because it was never her intention to hurt you because you were so beloved to her but she was afraid how you'd react but by the end after comforting her and taking about it she gave you the most gentle kiss on the cheek

𖤓Even if that is one of her first relationships, she's actually a really good partner, she's calm collected and when you two are alone she feels so safe with you that she lets herself and her emotions to be vulnerable without worrying about any sort of judgement

𖤓She feels so happy and comfortable with you, she just wished she could give you all of the love of the sea just for you to have

Golden Citrine cookie

"Wanna join me on another trinket hunt?"

❂When she first met you the very first thing that she did was bring her to her room to show you the various golden trinkets that she found from those hollow whales!

❂They all looked to mesmerized undet the moonlight and their reflection could easily light up her room with a really soft golden light

❂She mostly would sneak you out Tearcrown so you'd have some time alone and find more trinkets for her to add to her collection

❂At these treasure hunting trips she'd be as exited to talk and rant about how some things tip her off, just like how crimson coral doesn't really get her sarcasm but she'd be as excited to hear more about you!

❂She'd always insists in you joining the rest of the gem mermaids everywhere because she considers you as family and deeply cares about you

❂Another thing you'd do together was cleaning up any dirty trinkets, because after all she wants them to shine brightly under the sun and the moon light!

❂She has a surprisingly good maintained hair! She just enjoys not having it tied up and letting it free so she never really insisted on having hair care sessions because it was so easily maintainable

❂The moment she realised she had feelings for you is when you two would on one of your treasure/trinket hunting adventures and you'd look so interested in her little rant on how much she loves her shiny jewelry, your expression was so focused and interested on what she had to say that she outright confessed right here and there!

❂Of course later on, around that night before coming back to Tearcrown she said that she genuinely ment it and that she truly really does adore you and asked you properly if you'd like to be her partner

.𖥔 ݁ ˖As you two took care of the last plants she took a deep breath and handed you over a flower in a glass sphere, it was so beautiful! It even had the ability to glow in the dark!

Star Coral Cookie followed her Gram’s instructions and it pointed her to a lone house near the sea, a small dock to the side with a boat waiting. She approached the door and knocked on it as she waited, making sure to call out to the resident to let her presence be known.

“Hello? Does Y/N Cookie live here? I was told what you could help me with the lighthouse!”

“The lighthouse?”

The door answered to show a cookie matching the description Grams gave to Star Coral. Y/N Cookie…they look just like in the photos Grams had when she was younger! They barely look like they aged a day since then!

Y/N Cookie opened their door to look at the lighthouse far off in the distance, their expression falling a bit when they noticed the dim light of the lighthouse.

“So the lighthouse is having those issues again, I see. You..wish to make it shine bright like it used to?”

“Yes! To make it as bright as the moonlight! Grams told me that you helped her last time, so I wondered if you could help me too.”

“Grams? You mean your grandmother? Come to think of it, you do look familiar..you’re a member of the Corals, right?”

“Yes! I’m Star Coral Cookie! My Grams says that you knew her from back then when the lighthouse was last dimmed!”

“It’s been a while! O-Of course! I’d be glad to help aid you cookies once more to restore the bright shine to the lighthouse! Give me a minute to prepare!”

“Thank you, I might’ve be a little lost without your help!”

“If we’re going to do this, we’re going to need the Star Song. Did your grandmother give it to you?”

“She said I’ll need it to see the moonlight…”

“Take a look in the lyrics, you’ll find your answers there.”

“Really? It’s there?”

“Yeah, but save that for later. We need to get going.”

“We can take my boat, I don’t want you to carry all the weight for me.”

“I appreciate that, because my boat needs a touch up after floating there for a while, hehe.”

Star Coral giggled alongside Y/N Cookie. Her Grams had told her how much of a silly cookie they were. Looks like they hasn’t changed throughout the years either!

As they do so, Y/N Cookie looks out at the sea and moon in the sky, a look of..longing on theYT face.

They wonder if..they’ll see either of those two again….
