au where sirius flees the crime scene as padfoot, so instead of going to azkaban, he ends up at a dog shelter. and he's not very adoptable bc he's big and scary and clearly a bit traumatised, but he's SO GOOD with the puppies and all the staff adore him, so they keep him there to mentor the puppies.

and then one day remus gets lonely and starts visiting dog shelters. he can't afford to adopt/take care of a dog, so he just sits with them, takes them for walks, etc.

and then one day he visits padfoot's dog shelter. he shakily offers to take padfoot for a walk. a brotherly embrace ensues. remus adopts not only padfoot but the 17 puppies who consider padfoot to be their father the end <3
