A NOTE REGARDING WIKIS AND LORE DOCS

I've mentioned this in Misutamojis before, but just realised there was nothing about it here so:

Please don't create public lore docs or wikis for GITM.

I totally understand that the story is already sprawling and there are a lot of characters to keep track of, but here is my reasoning behind this request:

GITM is still in its very early stages, there is so little that you concretely know about any of the characters/story that it is likely that any character bios people write will be fundamentally incorrect. Same goes for lore about the worldbuilding and the Sight. It's much easier to spread misinfo than fact, and certain stuff in fic is kept deliberately misleading/vague for fun story purposes.

GITM is not a TV show and I am not a showrunner. I am just another DCA fan on the internet who wants to chat about their OCs, I should be allowed to do that without having my every word indexed. To be clear, as I have said many many many many times in the past: people quoting what I say in discord, analysing my casual art/magmas/drabbles, or screencapping casual convos and jokes to pull them apart to dissect details from it makes me really really uncomfortable. If people started screencapping what I say to stick it on a doc for proof of XYZ thing about a character you guys haven't even met yet... I would probably stop interacting on this server point blank. Please imagine how you would feel if people were screenshotting your desktop background to read your filenames so they could theorycraft. That has happened in this server. More than once. Please stop. Your FOMO is not more important than my boundaries.

The intended reading experience for GITM is... reading GITM. Yes sometimes I share my personal headcanons and tidbits for characters, but I promise that all of this stuff will be discovered in fic. I don't want people to learn about Fool's favourite songs from a google doc. I want you to learn about it from GITM. That is why I am writing GITM: to tell you about these characters.

I would like the opportunity to make a GITM wiki myself at some point in the future.

I understand this might be frustrating, I know the lore is overwhelming as it stands. As always, if you have questions about the characters, you are welcome to ask in one of the discussion channels- I don't mind people @ ing me for that- I love talking about GITM! I am always happy to answer new FAQs at length.

the way that he stopped introducing himself as 'champion of the undersea, hero of the deep' ever since he came back from the luxbris but the moment the tree asked him who he was he started rattling off titles. as if to prove himself. slipping back into that oh so familiar pattern of hiding behind accomplishments and expectations.

how when the tree asked him again who he was after confronting him with the truth, he didn't have an answer. how he's been trying to figure out his place in the world but then again he hasn't really because he's afraid. afraid that he's nothing. afraid that without that safety blanket he's insignificant, hollow, that if he went looking for answers he would find all the proof of all his most insidious anxieties and insecurities. that behind all the destiny and glory and honor gillion has nothing to identify himself with, nothing anyone would find noteworthy. that his life will be devoid of direction, and therefore devoid of meaning. that if stripped from what he's been taught he would be worth nothing.

and so despite all the discrepancies, all the little things that didn't add up, despite his growing mistrust of the elders and their teachings he never asked, never could bring himself to venturing out beyond what he thinks he knows.

but now he has, and it feels just as empty as he'd been dreading

There’s this pretty big disparity I’ve noticed between how nolan (omniman) is interpreted in mainstream stuff vs his like actual character in both show/comic

Fanon nolan interpretation:

-doesn’t feel remorse or empathy

-oh he’s soooo cool he’s so swag and smooth talking

-genuinely doesn’t care for his son esp not his wife

-never cared for the guardians

-you don’t get it he’s actually right guys!! Genocide good!

-this also ties in with just reducing mark to the “guy who gets beat up nonstop” and debbie to “the pet”

-they definitely think this version of nolan abides by human bigotry shit like sexism

Canon nolan (according to show and comic):

-oblivious to A LOT of social cues and overall very socially inept (very blunt and dry tone of voice so he always sounds kinda mad even if he isn’t)

-actually cares about his family and friends but has trouble expressing it verbally, more show than tell

-cared ab the guardians and they were his friends but he repressed the hell out of what he did bc of guilt (and he’s dumb)

-says things like “curses” and “moon it up”

-monologues a bunch like holy shit

-very physically affectionate with the people he’s v close too (he also smiles guys!)

-makes jokes without trying (kinda hard to catch bc of the deadpan tone at times)

-would realistically be confused by earth’s own forms of bigotry and shit

-bookworm and wrote and documented things even before becoming a writer on earth!

-feels extreme remorse and guilt for his past actions but again has trouble showing it

I didn't post about it at the time because I figured I'd wait until I had them up in a nice display but due to Reasons it's going to be a while before I get said nice display, so I figured I'd mention now that @candidcantrix is a lovely person who traversed little nerd shops in Japan to acquire me a birthday gaggle of Little Guys for which I am eternally grateful :D

(mgv) the first few heats after giselle's birth leave house consumed with parental devotion. he is protective to an insane degree and if she isn't gone to stay with someone before his heat really kicks in, any and all energy that would have gone into sex instead goes to being feral over the baby. example:

house and their pup are curled up in a nest he has carefully constructed for Maximum Comfort + Hide, practically wrapped around her as they nap. wilson left earlier to go grab a snack house had asked for and got sidetracked while at the store (keeps finding stuff they may want/need/might like and it becomes a Whole Thing) so he ended up being gone for long enough that house dozed off. when he comes back and house hears the sound of the front door unlocking, his eyes shoot open and he's instantly growling -- he's not even really awake, just running on pure instinct while his brain struggles to catch up. it's enough that when wilson walks in and hears it he stops on reflex -- an omega, in heat, nesting, with a pup, growling? alpha weakness. shakes them to their blood even when it's their omega because when instincts run high like that. even those in bonded pairs will tread carefully because the omega will Not Hesitate. it's not until wilson hesitantly calls out to him that house shakes himself out of it ("rrrrmrrgghhrrr--" " 😰 house?" "--rrrmpp?"). then when wilson walks in with the snack and whatever other little tokens he found he plays it extra safe as an apology for being gone for so long; keeping his head bowed, placating notes in the scent he puts out, staying a respectful distance away from the nest until house explicitly permits him to come closer (house rolls his eyes when wilson hesitates to enter the nest even though he so clearly wants to)

I just remembered that the main conflict between HMS is Heart and Mind hating each other and violent rejecting harmonisation bc I'm just so used to Soul being the problem and Heart and Mind being loving brothers who just like to play fight a lot

Like… Heart and Mind are extremely cruel to each other in canon

Heart literally attempts to murder Mind and Mind mocks Heart as he tortures him

That's so horrible, and yet in the la la land of AXYER world they're driving home from a party and buying Taco Bell and Heart's not wearing a shirt and Mind hasn't slept in four days

Self insert rambles: Haru (PART 2)

(Part 1)

So for those who don't know much about Zenless Zone Zero stuff, there are phenomenons called "Hollows" where giant black domes appear randomly & swallow up areas.

The air inside them can corrupt any living being (humans, animals & robots who passed a test of sentience) depending on their own Ether aptitude. The higher your aptitude, the longer you can work inside of Hollows without even wearing anti corruption equipment.

High ether aptitude can also give you better job offers that are related to Hollows.

Haru however, has low aptitude. Yet she lied in her resume that it wasn't, just so she could get her current job. Her co-workers haven't noticed it because Haru is very good at making up excuses. (Yes she does wear custom made anti-corruption gear. No I still am yet to design them)

Secretly, she is afraid of entering Hollows. She had an experience when she was younger.

Staying in the hospital wasn't fun.

Because of the heavy rainfall & extremely bad weather for several days, it took a longer time to rescue the trapped families inside the newly formed Hollow. Unfortunately that amount of time was too much for anyone with poor aptitudes.

Haru hated the boredom.

No one at school visited her. All she could do when visiting hours were over was to stare at the transparent medical wires plugged in her arms.

Haru learned how to eavesdrop that time. She overheard her neighbors sob as they lost their elder relative. Corrupted & transformed. She listened to the medical staff gossip about how close she, Haru herself, was so close to corruption too.

The hollow outside of her window seemed to mock her every day & night. Almost like if she could hear it.

"Can I learn how to stop Hollows?" Haru asked to the nurse who was change the fluid bags.

"Oh? You weren't scared when you were in there?"

Haru thinks for a while & she shakes her head.

"I want to make them go away. So it doesn't happen again." she looks out at the window again. The same hollow still hasn't changed its shape & neither did the rain stopped pouring after she was rescued.

Haru no longer hears the hollow mocking her anymore.

Its tone has shifted.

Now it whispers for her to come closer.

& that scares her.

god hes genuinely such a good skill check

like. i know it sounds strange because hes one of the very last bosses you have to fight but

he really is

hes the final wall before you can fight the rest

if you can't beat him as intended there's no way in hell you're beating the rest

because like. even up to the sentinels

you can just annihilate them

but you HAVE to be able to dodge his attacks

hes got too much health, and hes got mechanics in place to nullify attempts to cheese him

hes the true skill check of the calamity mod

no other boss comes close to how he makes you feel fighting him

he truly does make you feel like you're fighting a god though

with the devourer of gods, it doesnt necessarily feel like a fight for your life. it's that, sure, but it's also a fight for divinity

it feels like a climb to new heights

i love him as a boss

he's so well executed

the music also feels this way though

it reaches a crescendo mid-battle and he transforms, showing you his true power and with it, a new theme

and it goes harder than DIAMONDS

like every battle after truly feels like a battle between gods.

but devourer of gods?

it's a battle between mortal and immortal

and it FUCKS

it makes you feel so powerful

he truly is the gateway to true power, as well

the final tier of gear is locked behind him

his first phase feels like he's playing with you, almost

it's kinda reinforced when you get him down to 75% hp and he goes "Don't get cocky!"

but when you get him down to 60%, he transforms

he gets much larger, much longer, and the difficulty of the fight increases significantly

i dont like to call him a gatekeeper because he's so much more than that but

he is a DAMN good one

he is the gateway to divinity, and you have to break it the fuck open with all you've got

i have some hcs for ranmaru's family... which will probably be broken with any new info ehe... oh well. ranmaru's mixed japanese/vietnamese & has been an orphan passed between a couple of homes (& once, attempted to be placed back w his biological mom, though that didn't last very long) before he was given to the tran family.

he stayed with them for a few years, but never really emotionally clicked with them, with disinterest in reconnecting with his vietnamese side. he generally came off as dispassionate toward a lot of things at the time - except for woodworking, which his father of the time often did. unfortunately, he had to stop when he fractured his wrist; any chance he had begun to grasp to find a good hobby or connect with any one of the family through this was cut short. especially as this was also cause for him to leave the tran family.

he stayed in the orphanage until he healed (though he still struggles with precision), joining the kageyamas when he was about ten. it took about a year for him to open up to them a bit instead of constantly acting standoffish (esp refusing to go to school when he didn't feel up to it, but that's more from. apathy than actually trying to 'rebel' like he did for the first week or so... where he'd ignore them in the halls, not ever talking at dinner... he doesn't do that anymore, but he's still a bit awkward about interacting with them as he becomes a teenager)

later on, he hyperfixates on street fashion, esp goth+alt... i personally don't hc ranmaru as autistic or anything, but he is bipolar and this was something that really did begin to pull him out of his depression. he also tentatively tried manual wood-carving again, after he got reacquainted with sketching out [fashion ideas], though it's not as much of an interest as it had been. both for his difficulty doing precise work, and associations with the previous family...

honestly, he kind of regrets not fighting harder to stay w the tran family, bc in hindsight they were fine people (even if he was put off by their insistence to show him vietnamese culture at the time; and even now is neutral, leaning negative, toward that part of himself), but he likes his current family alright.

it. also hasn't quite hit for him at this point in his life that he can change what happens, and that life musn’t be a 'it is what it is' situation (arguably, it doesn't hit him until he's dead; with his doll's actions & his real self's last words...). he ends up just resigning himself to it all. not really. taking control. not on his own, at least. he has hobbies, sure, and he likes them enough! but he just can't see himself doing anything worthwhile. and his passion for fashion just feels a little... unrealistic, to him, and he truthfully hasn't really put in the work with researching it to see if it's even something he'd like doing professionally.

Qrow and RNJR vs Tyrian is such a SAD fight scene to me tbh like it's just the combination of it coming right after they've all travelled through all these pillaged towns and watched people die in preventable ways in a region that’s already notorious for being borderline uninhabitable on TOP of having come back from Beacon falling and losing Pyrrha & Penny... just Ruby pushing herself to fight Tyrian bc she feels obligated to do so out of already carrying guilt over all those people she couldn't save so that no-one else around her gets hurt (because of her) and Qrow trying to keep the kids out of the fight because he doesn't want anyone to get hurt (because of him). On top of the fact that Tyrian as a >30-something yo guy just decides to call the Actual Child(TM) he was threatening and stalking and attempting to kidnap a bitch regardless of whether or not it's in the heat of the moment and she maimed him that shit tends to stick in ur mind bruh

i had this oc brick who was a vast and buried avatar who died and got buried and then crawled out of the grave to their two boyfriends who also ended up having fucked up stuff happen to them. i used them for tma rp

and this one unnamed oc who was a corruption avatar, corruption avatar that has a garden full of fruit trees (mostly orange) the trees all look healthy from the outside but the inside is decaying, and the fruit they make are already filled with mold grew orange trees and made jam. she became an avatar after finding an orange on the ground but she knew it wasn’t from one of her trees. like she knows it’s not hers but she brings it in anyways and when she peels the orange it’s all just mold, even though it looks perfect from the outside. that was just an idea i never used her for anything
