I just published Fin comme l’aiguille d’Étretat, le Lupin. Finesse n'est pas dans le genre, roublard, menteur, rusé, futé, mais la finesse n'y est pas où les détails sont tellement gros qu'ils en deviennent mythiques de toutes les prestidigitations. Onto the actual plot- a cop and a priest walk into a bar basically. (i’m not even joking) so they both do that and they flirt things are said and done woahh (they kiss holy shit :0) They end up sleeping togheter but before that janette was like ‘heyy i’m aro-spec let me explain what that means and how i don’t do romantic relationships” and Adele is like “uh huh. definetly listening” she isn’t. she does not care at all. So basically they have a friends with benefits relationship but then Janette is like “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE A HUSBAND” since adele is not polyamorous and did not tell Josh about it.

They split up, and don’t talk for a while until Adele’s son, Ryan, ends up being involved in a cult ritual that ends up with him getting his arm chopped off. Adele knows who did it (janette who did not agree to that ritual) and ended up getting revenge. In the form of arson. She was mostly commiting arson because she was just annoyed at Janette and a little bit for her son she isn’t a good mum. So Janette gets burnt alive and then ends up getting resurrected by weird blue spirits called Sprites that curse her with if she cuts her skin, little blue flowers and foliage burst from her skin trying to push their way out which is dangerous! So she has to stay out of town- in the woods- because everyone thinks she’s dead and she’s just planning her way to kill adele.

yeah. there is so much more lore i could go into but i will save that. for later. :D

Reviews: Homophobic Cop Marries Gay Ghost, President’s Son Gets Together with Prince

Recently watched 2 movies with gay main characters in different genres. One was Red, White & Royal Blue (available on Amazon), one was 🌟 Marry My Dead Body 关于我和鬼变成家人的那件事 (available on Netflix). Spoiler-free thoughts below 😊:

❤️🤍💙 Red, White & Royal Blue is an American romcom. It has a 10/10 trailer—incredibly inviting. The movie depicts many women in power, I love that! Many witty jokes, nice! The movie might be better if it were a drama series instead; to save time, it zoomed through the falling-in-love part with the use of text messages—the production team packaged that as well as they could, but it was still too rushed. The ending left me wondering if there could’ve been a tiny bit more to make it feel more complete. Though the movie doesn’t score as highly as its trailer in my opinion, it’s still a decent movie.

(That reminds me of how That Musical Montage in episode 1 of the Heaven Official’s Blessing donghua made me super keen to watch the rest of the series, but it turns out that that was the best part. Quality-wise, Red, White & Royal Blue is overall better than the TGCF donghua though.)

👻👮‍♂️💓 Marry My Dead Body is a Taiwanese mystery + comedy + supernatural movie. Let me copy the blurb from Google: “Wu Ming-Han, a straight policeman who is homophobic and ghost-phobic, accidentally picks up a red wedding envelope while collecting evidence. He finds himself betrothed to the envelope's owner Mao Pang-Yu, a gay man who died under mysterious circumstances. The duo must work through their differences and join forces to solve the case, seeking justice for Mao.” (Real-life context: marriages between dead people and live ones are/were an actual thing in Chinese culture.)

I’ve just finished watching this movie, love it! Let me get the “con” out of the way first: I wish the movie ended differently! The ending was not unsatisfying, it’s just that I personally could have been more satisfied.

Okay, now I am free to gush.

This movie is HILARIOUS. Won’t describe the humour here, you can see it in the trailers on YouTube.

I love the unravelling of the mysteries (police cases). The feelings would not have hit half as hard without them and the exploration of Maomao’s non-romantic relationships (formed during his life) after his death. Even though I highly value a good plot apart from the romance when I read/watch something, I like talking about feelings more, so that’s what I’ll do.

I have Intense Feelings about these guys. They went from being Not Keen about getting stuck with each other to being really cute together—I notice that the movie managed to do this EVEN WITHOUT having them hold hands or do anything physical beyond that. That is crazy. Romantic physical contact is great, but if you can show chemistry without it, and with minimal flirting—that is exceptional.

(Side note: I think it would be harder to convincingly depict a heterosexual pair arriving at romantic feelings the way Wu Ming-Han and Maomao did: (partly) through constant banter and trading barbs. A man looking down on a woman would have come across as a lot meaner because the threat that poses is larger in the patriarchal society we live in.)

Wu Minghan went from casually homophobic to being on track for bisexuality for a ghost, such character development. The scene where Wu Minghan genuinely calls Maomao “my husband” for the first time is AMAZING, unexpected. At that moment I was like, oh my god, he loves him. Or at the very least, he has good potential. It had taken a series of hilarious strong-arming, including a close call with the loss of Wu Minghan’s family jewels, to make this dude marry Maomao, but now he’s calling Maomao husband—in that particular state, at that timing. I cried. I was smiling at many points throughout the movie, I also cried at some points. I said something similar when I wrote my review for Merman’s Fall: a book/movie that makes me laugh and cry will go at the top of my favourites list. Unlike my danmei list, my favourite movies list is too short for me to put Marry My Dead Body at the top or bottom, but it’s definitely in there.

Isn’t it interesting how the GameStop ma’am video coincided with the time when the Karen meme was extremely popular, but I’ve never seen anyone once call him a Karen? Even after yelling at the top of his lungs at a polite employee, after threatening physical violence, after throwing and kicking shit around the store, after threatening another customer who did nothing except tell him he was being extra?

I think it really comes down to trans privilege. Everyone in the vicinity knew that was a violent male, and we are all aware of what is at stake when interfering with a mantrum like that. I wish we could see what would have occurred if a) a woman tried that, or b) a gender conforming man tried that.

I believe trans women are straddling this line where they get all the benefits of being a male, like freely expressing your anger and aggression however you feel like it, but also with none of the consequences since we must all walk on eggshells to prove we are not phobic. I think if an average man did that, causing harm to property and physically threatening both a male worker and female customer, someone would have rightfully called the cops.

youre absolutely right. no one can say how they truly feel because no matter how delicately they put it, it would be considered transphobic. it feels like everything transwomen ever do is always ignored and covered up or excused. when it is high profile like chris chan raping his mom or bruce jenner committing vehicular manslaughter, the "transphobia" becomes the focal point and not what they actually did. what actual woman could kill an old lady and still get woman of the year? what woman would be met with even base level respect after sexually assaulting her dementia ridden elderly mother?

even in cases where this isnt some crime but things are just offensive, like in the case of dylan mulvaney getting to represent womanhood, its brushed off as transphobia. like why would you regard anyone whose only been a woman for 6 months as some authority on womanhood, especially one that refuses to even refer to their experience as womanhood? even the most well meaning and supportive of leftist normies see an issue with that but i guess its easier to call them all terfs and conservatives than address actual criticism. thats how it always goes.

TW!: Fat phobia, Body Dismorphia

I have been told my body fits the beauty standard. I have a hard time seeing this and not over analyzing myself in the mirror. I don’t think I’ve ever had an eating disorder, but I definitely think I have come close.

When I was about 12 or 13 years old, my family and I were going on a trip to visit family in Korea. I remember telling my mom that I have to stop eating a week before my trip, so that when I see uncle he would either say nothing about my body or tell me that I lost weight. My uncle, was a physical trainer at the time and had a lot to say to my father (his older brother) about how I need to watch my weight because I couldn’t properly do a sit up 2 years prior. I was 10. I proceeded to arrive in Korea and my grandmother would keep pushing her delicious food on me and I would always take a couple bites out of respect (I don’t know what was more disrespectful eating a couple bites and leaving left over or not eating it at all.). Then one day the children were playing and I was with my aunt in the living room. We heard screaming from one of the kids. She and I both bolted up in urgency and ran towards the commotion. Except I don’t remember what happened after I got up. I passed out and ended up hitting my head on a ledge on the other side of the living room. I woke up to my aunt rushing towards me as I felt a large amount of pressure on the back of my head. Luckily no blood was drawn but I woke up laughing and had a big bump on my head for about two weeks.

And now, 8 years later, I am sitting on my boyfriend’s bed after eating a Panera meal. My first meal of the day (aside from butter on a toasted bagel I had this morning after my 8am class). A bowl serving of creamy tomato soup and two baguettes. I feel full, content, yet guilty. Content is not good to maintain skinny. If I’m not still a little hungry after eating, then I ate too much. I don’t eat three meals a day even though I should. But honestly I’m not hungry enough on a day to day basis to want to eat. My fear of fattening up contributes to this, probably. I don’t exercise either because life has always felt so bleak so the only way to maintain the slim figure is to stay hungry. Maybe I am just lazy. Going about it in a cop out manner. But, I am still unhappy with my body. The way that my body is lacking in muscle and mostly inhabited by lard.

8 years later, I don’t deny the cosmetic surgeries anymore, because now it could come into fruition and I could look the way I always wanted. And it’s almost as if, my mindset has gotten weaker and is crumbling under the weight of society’s standards. As my brain begins to shrink, my thoughts will be ever expanding. 8 years later, I wish I didn’t still feel this way about myself. I wish I felt comfortable in the body I have. These thoughts make me inherently fat phobic, and I feel terrible about it. I believe all bodies are beautiful, in all shapes and sizes and colors. Just not on me. But I could be. I am jealous of people who can maintain such beautiful minds and bodies. My life has been a constant battle between me, myself, and I.

It’s a never ending cycle and it all comes down to me,

I am ashamed of myself.

who’s surprised by all this , I mean really ? 14 Times Crooked Cops Were Caught Being Racist Fools

Just when they thought they were being slick, someone exposed them.

When an officer is accused of police brutality, the consensus is that they had prior racial biases that led them to abuse or even kill a Black person.

One would think tracking down a pattern of racial bias would take a lengthy investigation. But often times, all it takes is the exposing powerhouse no one can hide from: social media. 

Officers think they’re slick with cryptic messaging or spam accounts. In reality, their use of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter is just the same as a regular person’s. No one is exempt from getting exposed and no one is immune from cancel culture.

Torrance Police Officers

An investigation from the Los Angeles Timesfound a series of text messages among Torrance police officers, mocking the shooting death of a Black man. Officers shot Christopher Mitchellwithin 15 seconds of approaching him, as he surrendered with his hands in the air.

“Was going to tell you all those [N-word] family members are all pissed off in front of the station,” said one officer. 

“Gun cleaning party at my house when they release my name??” another officer was found saying.

At least a dozen officers were connected to racist and homophobic text messages including the sharing of racist memes. The lawsuits against the officers costed up to $10 million. 

Chicago Police Lieutenant

Just when a report from the Civilian Office of Police Accountability was ready to expose him for filth, Lt. John Cannon handed in his resignation.

Per the Chicago Tribune, Cannon had a racist spam account on Facebook under the alias “Samuel Hipster.” He told investigators it was meant to be a joke but his posts were far from humorous. 

One post was a meme of former president Barack Obama wearing a turban with the caption “Obama is ISIS.” Another post read “White privilege is a myth perpetuated by those who hate white people.” 

He was bound to be fired anyway as COPA found him unfit to serve in the department. 

Jacksonville, Florida Sergeant

Sgt. Douglas Howell is under internal investigation by the Sheriff’s office for being caught tweeting a slew of racially insensitive comments, per First Coast News.

He came for every group of color but in one 2013 tweet, he said Black people were one of America’s biggest problems. With his Twitter fingers he violated department policy by engaging in speech expressing racial bias. It’s not confirmed if the tweets are Howell’s but if they are, somebody’s gettin’ fired (Beyoncé voice).

Victorville Federal Prison Corrections Officers

A pending investigation is looking into a crazy-racist Instagram supposedly owned by a group of corrections officers at Victorville Federal Correctional Complex, per East Bay Times.

The account, “goodverbal,” had allegedly made racist, homophobic, xenophobic... everything-phobic posts about fellow guards and inmates. Some posts even joked about sexually assaulting women inmates. 

The Bureau of Prisons said they can’t confirm who runs the account but when they do, criminal prosecution is on the table. 

Illinois Police Officer

Springfield Police Department Officer Aaron Paul Nichols was exposed for a variety of white supremacist posts on social media, found the Huffington Post. 

Nichols made jokes about killing Black and Jewish people among other obscenities like saying Hitler “did nothing wrong.” Oh, and this quote:

“N–gers ruin everything. Even if it’s White doing the stealing they’re likely selling the meat to blaq [sic] run restaurants or trading it to n—gers for dope. Real talk.”

Anonymous Comrades Collective, a group that tracks down neo-Nazis and such, reported the posts leading to an internal investigation. He ended up resigning instead of talking to investigators. 

Wichita Fire Department

Capt. Keith Niemann was suspended for three days without pay after his racist WhatsApp messages were exposed, per The Wichita Eagle.

Niemann sent a photo of himself in an ugly Christmas sweater with a cartoon version of the Wardy “Woody” Joubert meme with a Christmas present covering Joubert’s crotch. “I have a big package for you,” read the sweater. He also held a mug with Joubert’s picture and a “vulgar saying.”

Another supervisor was disciplined for sending a photoshopped picture from “A Christmas Story” with Flick sticking his tongue to a Black male body part instead of a pole. 

Speaking of Wichita...the SWAT Team

Racist and sexist messages between SWAT members all the way back to 2015 were found in an internal department investigation, according to AP News. One text mocked George Floyd’s death and joked about the use of excessive force.

Per the city’s report, the officers were not disciplined as they should have been and the internal investigation was mishandled. All officers are now required to attend training sessions on racial discrimination and civil rights violations. 

Maryland Park Police Officers

Mark Miles of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police filed a lawsuit against his fellow colleagues after receiving a number of racist and abusive messages, per The Daily Record.

The officers joked in a group chat about starting a race war. Sgt. Stephanie Harvey was accused of proclaiming herself as a mysogynistic racist and suggesting to kill Black Lives Matter protestors. 

Miles also said when he tried to speak up about the issue, he was retaliated against by his colleagues. In his complaint, he called for Harvey to be fired.

South Carolina Police Chief 

Sullivan’s Island Police Chief Chris Griffin is being sued by two women who allege he sent unsolicited racist and sexist images, per The State. The women say they received around 20 messages that were “sexually explicit, racist and demeaning.” 

They reported the texts to the executive director of the SC Police Chiefs Association and an investigation launched into the incident. Griffin’s membership to the association was revoked. 

Briarcliffe Volunteer Fire Company 

Fanita Bility, 8, was shot and killed by Pennsylvania police after her family vehicle was falsely identified in a drive-by. The Briarcliffe Volunteer Fire Company was put on a 30-day suspension when their members were found making racist comments mocking Bility, per NBC News.

Their comments were recorded in a virtual meeting that allegedly went on for two hours. 

Oakland Police Officers

Nine Oakland cops were disciplined for sharing sexist and racist posts on social media, per the LA Times. Seven of the cops were suspended for 25 days. The other two had already gone to other agencies.

Their Instagram account, “crimereductionteam,” featured memes joking about police brutality, rape and other inappropriate content. Third-party investigators confiscated the work phones of 140 officers. 

The district court judge hasn’t decided how to handle the Instagram scandal yet. 

Michigan Police Officer

A Warren, Michigan police officer is under investigation for making extra racist Facebook comments, per WDIV 4 Detroit. The officer allegedly said Black people are the “biggest racist people in the world” and proceeded to slam our community with every stereotype possible. 

The standout post was: “Glad I wasn’t born [Black]. I would kill myself.” 

The department claimed an internal investigation is underway. It’s unclear if the cop, whose name was not made public, was suspended. 

Pittsburgh Area Police Breakroom

Per AP News, a group of Pennsylvania officers tried to be sneaky and formed a private Facebook group to talk all they trash they want.

From anti-BLM posts, slamming cops who kneeled with protesters to Blue Lives Matter polluted the page. Originally, the group talked about all the boring cop stuff. Then, it got nasty. Many of the members were from Allegheny County. 

It’s unclear if the cops faced any discipline for their nonsense. 

Aurora Police Officers

Four Aurora Police Department officers were fired for taking a selfie at the site where Elijah McClain died, per NPR. The officers mocked the carotid restraint Elijah was placed in, partly resulting in his death, in the photo. 

The photo was shared to one of the officers charged in McClain’s death, Jason Rosenblatt, to “cheer him up.” 

Rosenblatt was already fired after the incident. Two officers in the picture were also fired and the third resigned.
