Hi Rikki. If Bonnie doesn't like vampires and Klaus doesn't like witches in canon, how do they make sense as a couple?

Long post warning: I think it's important to note that Bonnie doesn't hate vampires and never has. She hates the bloodshed and violation of humanity that comes with vampires. If anything, Bonnie does hate killers. When she meets Kai and finds out he murdered his family, she immediately has a problem with him.

Bonnie’s entire arc was not about hating vampires. Now why is this change ignored by the fandom? Well, who knows. Bonnie has never outright attacked any vampire simply for being one. Just those who were causing harm to her friends or have hurt her directly. Fans don’t try to acknowledge Bonnie and write her off as a vampire hater for 8 seasons. When Bonnie accepted vampirism from ALL her friends. She places their own emotional-needs and wellbeing before her own but that isn’t enough for fans. Bonnie’s emotions are defined as irritating and judgmental when the entire show is about humanizing vampires.

Bonnie doesn't have the luxury like Caroline and Elena to flirt with murderous vampires. Until the very end of the show in season 7 with Enzo at that time Bonnie she claims Damon is her bestfriend. That’s before Elena and Caroline. There’s issues there as well but I won’t get into that. Yet even with the hypothetical thought of Bamon there’s still this continuous negativity directed on Bonnie’s end. Julie insulted Elena just to prove a point. The Bamon Ban existed and it was real. It may have applied to Bamon but with the writer being so vocal about their dislike for Bonnie it meshed with all Bonnie ships.

Klaus hated what his mother did to him and his siblings. He hated his mother for binding his wolf side. The blame for those actions has been to his parents only. There was a never a moment in canon where Klaus blamed anyone else but his parents for what happened to him and his siblings. Bonnie is a witch just like Esther, but why would Klaus hold her accountable for something she did not do. Bonnie wasn’t even alive when Esther did that! It’s ridiculous take to think Klaus would blame Bonnie for his trauma and would not like her because she’s a witch like his mother. Bonnie is NOT Klaus mother and has never been in a maternal position to Klaus. Notice this claim and outright refusal doesn’t exist when people discuss Stefan and Klaus friendship. Stefan wanted revenge for what Klaus had done and they’re still well liked. Caroline can celebrate Klaus death in season 3 and fuck him in season 5 they’re one of the most popular ships. No questions on either of these but it’s Bonnie that people have such a huge issue getting over when it comes to Klonnie shipping. For a ship that is so small and limited in canon there’s always a fan commenting on how “disgusting” and “illogical” the ship is.

Klaus had allies in witches like Gloria, Greta, Genevieve and Maddox. He’s had sex with both Greta and Genevieve who are witches like his mother. Freya is a witch, Hope is a witch. Klaus did not wake up everyday blaming and hating these other women for the actions of his parents. So I must ask again, why would he turn to Bonnie and hate her simply for being a witch? Doesn’t make sense to me. In 2x17 Isobel and Katherine discuss Klaus and witches. Klaus was abandoned by Ansel he still slept with werewolves like Hayley or Lana.

The fandom places rules and regulations on Bonnie because the writers did. I’ve given enough evidence to prove that Klaus would be willing to date anyone despite his parental trauma, as would Bonnie if she is given the affection and chance too. The problem will forever rely in the writers and the fans who continue to push these narratives. A ship so little like Klonnie shouldn’t have many fans arguing about how disgusting and gross it is. Why is shipping Bonnie with Klaus (or any non-canon character) disgusting but none of the canon white centered relationships get this type of reaction. Finally, if the series kept up with Klaus taste in witches the only woman who matches the woman Klaus was intimate with at that time would be Bonnie.

Full Episode Commentary

2x17: Know Thy Enemy

Elena lied to Jenna for nearly 2 seasons, pushed it to the extent that her relationship with Stefan took priority over Alaric's relationship with Jenna. It wasn't Damon who turned her into a liar. It was Stefan. Elena used to be honest, used to be real. Not the only thing Stefan did to her, but I'll cover this more when I get to 3x22. Right now, Jenna is learning about Isobel.

Elena's lies are the only difference between the first two seasons and the third. With Stefan, Elena is openly in love with him, but hiding his vampirism. With Damon, Elena is open about his vampirism, but hiding she's in love with him. It's best to watch Damon's journey with Katherine, especially in season 2 because Elena will repeat that same journey with Stefan in season 3. I'm talking about their back-to-back fall and un-fall. Damon's, then Elena's.

Why these brothers ever listen to Katherine is beyond me. She doesn't want them to tell Isobel she's there because she wants to keep her options open. She basically has two teams working separately, and for her benefit. If one screws up, she has the other.

Damon is left with the unfortunate task of telling Alaric that his dead wife is visiting his ex-girlfriend. Jenna meeting Isobel is pretty much like Liam meeting Damon. They're both supposed to be dead. I suppose someone in a dishonest ship would support a dishonest ship. To the extent they'd blame someone else than carry the blame themselves. Elena blames John for Isobel showing up at the house, and Jenna being pissed because both she and Alaric have been lying to her. Let's not carry the blame because we are liars, let's just blame John. I do like John getting punched, but he's being just as real as Damon. Had Alaric and Elena been honest from the beginning, they wouldn't be dealing with it now. It's not John, it's Alaric and Elena who are to blame for lying, period. Jenna shouldn't need to get the truth from John, her boyfriend and her niece should've had the respect to tell her themselves. Let's not coddle the 17 year old who's nearing adulthood. Like holy shit. Bonnie, Caroline, Jeremy, Matt, Jenna. Everyone pays for Elena's lies because only the truth can protect them. Jenna simply pays the most. I mean... Alaric and Elena might as well turn her into a vampire if they're gonna have her living in the dark. That's how real this is. And yes, I still blame Stefan because this is what he pulled Elena into. That's why I don't care that Elena lies to Stefan. Don't be mad at the liar when you're the one that created her.

Matt is still running around, pissed as hell because he just found out about vampires and knows that Vicki was bitten by one. I'm talking about their scene at the end of the pilot episode. From dishonest to dishonest. Damon was the one that made sure Vicki could utter "Vampire." He didn't want to lie and hide, so he bit her and left her uncompelled at the bonfire for the sake of truth. Now Stefan and Elena are supporting Caroline compelling Matt to forget. Yes, the liar and the liar he created are trying to get Caroline to continue lying because that totally helps. And fans believe Stelena is healthy. Uhm, what? For Matt to consider forgiving Damon for what he did to Vicki, Damon would first have to admit the truth as to why he turned her in the first place. I'm not talking about the bullshit lie he spits about turning her out of boredom. I'm talking about the real reason he turned her. Damon should have an open and honest discussion with Matt about Vicki's last days, about why he felt he did her a favor. I think the series covers something like 6 or 7 years. And in all that time, Damon turning Vicki only becomes an issue for Matt when he has to ring the bell to bring in Cade… oy. They literally wait 6 seasons for Damon and Matt to talk about Vicki, that's how ridiculous some of the writing is.

I love it when Elena stands up for herself, but girl has no sense whatsoever. It's like Stefan turned her into an idiot. I suppose she wants every vampire coming for her, and never mind what hell it would be for both brothers having to fight them all. Isobel offers her a safe home, and she's like… no, I'd rather put myself at risk in my own home. Only an idiot would completely ignore a good idea. Good thing Damon isn't Elena. He doesn't need to like someone to work with them. Katherine ripped his heart out, but he's still open-minded. Damon is the kind of person that would work with his worst enemy to protect someone he loves. Elena would ignore her worst enemy despite her worst enemy giving her great advice. She's foolish that way. However, I will say that Isobel was already compelled by Klaus. I say this because Elena didn't need Isobel to get her a home. She is perfectly safe in her own home. No vampires can get in without her say so, and a house is a house. It's my guesstimation that Isobel is trying to get Elena to Klaus before the ritual because that's what Klaus compelled her to do, but no big deal if she can't pull it off.

I really love what they do with Damon and Bonnie in these episodes. The secrets Damon keeps. He turns Bonnie into their secret weapon against Klaus. Think about that when you think about their love triangle.

Damon: Great. We'll have to put that on our list of things to do today. Harness ancient dead-witch power. Bonnie: You know where the witches were burned? Damon: Did I forget to mention that?

Damon knows where the witches died due to their order of events. When he woke up after his death, he watched them pull Katherine into Fell's Church and set it on fire. He then met up with Emily. She told him she was able to protect Katherine, and he was there to witness them kill her at the witch house.

Isobel and Katherine meet up. Like I said, I'm pretty sure Isobel is already under Klaus' compulsion, and Katherine has no idea. I consider Damon more intelligent than Katherine. People don't make deals with Klaus. They do for Klaus or they die. Why Katherine would believe Isobel capable of making a deal with Klaus is beyond me. She hasn't even been a vampire that long. I think Alaric said something like two years. I suppose they like their intelligent characters having duh moments. Isobel talks about Jenna the way Enzo talks about Stefan. "John told me Rick was dating auntie vanilla." The vanilla insult is hilarious because it really is an insult. Men like Stefan and women like Jenna are likely to lose their partners to affairs. I'm not saying that sex shouldn't be special. I'm saying that you don't have to be vanilla for it to be special.

"I was more than willing to play it their way if I had to, but they're floundering. Their witch has lost her powers, and they've used their only weapon to kill Elijah. If I stick with them, I'm dead. You showing up changes everything."

Katherine is such a sucker.

"Let me be honest with you. Don't mistake the fact that we haven't set you on fire in your sleep for trust."

lol… Katherine should've put her trust in Damon. The fact that they're all chilling in the family room with no fear should've been Katherine's biggest clue that they've got shit under control. Katherine is the one running around like a chicken with its head cut off. The fact that Elena has time to go to a fundraiser without fear of Klaus should've been another clue for Katherine that she's screwing up their perfectly good plan.

"Cause I tried to save her. Emily was just my key to getting Katherine back before I knew what a nasty little bitch Katherine was."

Damon likes to hide the truth of himself, the beuaty of his humanity. In his scene with Jeremy and Bonnie, is careful in how he words things. He wants to make sure Bonnie doesn't mistake who he's calling a bitch.

Witches aren't really cool with vampires because of what they are. They believe in balance. They don't even like Stefan, it's more like they tolerate him. They certainly don't like Damon in their house lol. A lot of this stuff repeats in the third season as they prepare Elena to become a vampire. The moonstone, the soap dish, the witch house.

Klaus is torturing the hell out of Isobel. You can see it written all over her face. She knows she's putting the pieces together for her own daughter's sacrifice, and she can't stop it. Had she turned to Damon, he could've found her a loophole.

Isobel bites into John and uses him to distract Stefan. This is how Katherine takes over for Elena. "You've got some serious explaining to do to the Council about John being not so dead." Katherine was fine for a moment, but she outs herself when she acts like she's talking to Damon. She had no idea that he took over the council, he literally runs it because Carol put him in charge. So no, he doesn't need to explain anything.

Because of Caroline outing herself, Matt is so pissed that he attacks Liz. He wants to see how they covered up the death of his sister. Damon finds out that Katherine took the moonstone. A nice shirtless scene for him.

They pull their scene cuts between two betrayals... Katherine betraying Damon and Isobel betraying Katherine. Liz is using Matt to get information about the vampires. I love this scene of Bonnie and Jeremy… doing the leaves up like she and Luka did.

"I'm at your house, but we have to hurry. Damon knows your lodging tricks. It will take him all of 20 minutes to find out where you're staying."

Damon and Stefan are only worried because Elena is missing. This episode is their epic plan failure because of Katherine. Stefan repeats this mistake in 3x9.

"So maybe there's a part of me that's buried here, the - the human part. The part that I abandoned when I - when I chose to become a vampire."

I love this cemetery scene between Elena and Isobel. Heartbreaking, but beautiful. It's also a nice parallel for Damon.

"I'm done now."

"I'm done?"

Isobel went out the way she came in. Klaus compelled her to do it in front of Elena for dramatic impact. He wants her to know his power, his reach. Alaric and Isobel are Klaus' first two victims in Elena's life.

"I'm all alone. My mom doesn't care, my sister's dead, and all of my friends are liars, and you're a…"

Even Jeremy and Tyler have been lying to Matt. Bonnie and Elena are the reason I can't stand their season 2 plan. They're both planning to sacrifice themselves rather than coming up with something better together. Bonnie could've asked the witches about the elixir, but nope.

This is one of my favorite scenes of John, even though I think it's insane that he and Elena gloss over the fact that Klaus compelled Isobel. Isobel had less control than Stefan does when he rips into Elena.

"You screw up everything, John. Everything you touch just falls apart. But you're the only parent I have left… so maybe I can learn not to hate you."

John and Damon have this in common. Damon sabotages things. They do a lot of switching with these brothers. Like with these men witches. Had Damon spoke to Jonas, they would've had them on their side. Had Damon went to the fundraiser instead of Stefan, he would've talked Katherine out of betraying them.

"That literally makes Bonnie our secret weapon."

As I said before, beware the brother that creates secret weapons. Especially when we're talking about Damon hiding the good in himself. Human Damon is written alongside Ripper Stefan. That's how Damon's comment in 1x5 bleeds through season 3. "Now nothing can come between you and Elena. Except the truth."

Have this body language parallel.

Klaus took over Alaric's apartment and his body. He's getting in with the group to make sure they have nothing that can stop him. Elena's necklace ends up in Alaric's apartment because of Katherine. A good place for it because I consider Alaric a centerpiece in their love triangle. Both Damon and Stefan parallel him in their own ways. Damon parallels Alaric with Isobel, Stefan parallels Alaric with Jenna.

Eijah is still daggered in the Salvatore cellar. Proof that deals are made to be broken. When Damon gets the cure, Stefan has no reason to leave town. Because he chooses to leave anyway, Katherine's comment will become Stefan's truth. "That right there was the biggest mistake you've ever made."

so, you wanna introduce your friend to Gravity Falls but they don't wanna watch all 40 episodes? you wanna do a re-watch but skip the more filler-y ones? I got your back.

here's a guide to which episodes are strictly necessary to watch to understand the overall continuity of the show, and which can be skipped and/or come back to later. I managed to cut it down to 24 episodes (counting the finale as 3 parts, not 4 as it is sometimes divided into).

-Mxy interrupted it in s2 (2x12) and in s3 when a fucking robot did it in Argo (3x21).

-Once again, the Mxy’s ep. It was hot, it was beautiful, it was THE kiss of the entire series (2x13)

-A lot but maybe not at the first sight: They are both superpowered aliens, they shared a planet and some history, they both (thought they) lost their family and friends, they both were alien immigrants on Earth, they were both superheroes and leaders, they both shared values and morality, they both were adorable space puppies at the day and kickasses at the night.

Bridal Carry: A character carries his Love Interest in his arms and/or vice versa. 

As much as I don’t think it applies to a show where a superpowered person carries people like a sack of potatoes in almost every episode (following this trope, Kara would end with: J’onn, Clark, some dude from crossover, Kelly. Cat and a horde of other characters), context matter:

-In the Flash crossover, Mon-El was carrying unconscious Kara. And while Kara carried a lot of people this way (or was carried like that by J’onn, Kal and some super dude in other crossover), the context matters: she was affected by some superpowered being, because of the struggle she had with her lover and he carried her like that into a crossover ep they shared with another canon couple to fix their love. OTHER THINGS

Mon-EL: I think of this because I'm reading this play right now, Romeo and Juliet? 

Kara:Yeah, I've heard of it. Right and there's this moment at the end where I am right now, where they're about to run away together and to live happily ever after. And I can't help but think that that could be us. You know? 

Kara:Yeah, but Juliet and Romeo both die at the end. 

Mon-El:...I did not see that coming.

Kara:I'm Supergirl, I don't run from anything. 

Mon-EL:Yeah, I know. It's one of the more annoying things about you. 

Kara:Thank you. 

Mon-EL:You're welcome.

Mon-El: People don't really change. 

Kara:Sure they do. You did. You've become someone incredible and unselfish. Just give her a chance. 

Mon-El:You really think I'm incredible? 

Kara: *crinkling* No. I just said that to get you to listen to me.

Kara: When Mon-El first landed here, we didn't understand each other. But we found a connection. Through the kindness in our hearts.

Mon-El: Whatever you want. I'll go back to Daxam, I'll be your prince. All of it. Just stop hurting her. 

Rhea:I have your word? No tricks? No resistance?

Kara:This is Mon-El's life. Please. 

J'onn:I cannot disobey the President of the United States. I know it's easy to let emotions get involved, but there's a protocol. I'm not the one calling the shots right now. I know how much you care for Mon-El. But this is too dangerous. 

Kara:I have to save him. I know you understand. Once that ship leaves he's gone forever.

Kara:Please. J'onn, I can't lose him.

Mon-El: You came after me. 

Kara:Every time.

Mon-El:I think we could all stand to be a little more like you. More optimistic and brave... 

Kara:I think you were pretty brave. 

Mon-EL:No, I just did what I knew you would have done. And it was terrifying.

Mon-EL: I didn't want to burden you before. Um... I know you've moved on... From us. But I didn't just come back here to help you fight Reign. When I left Imra, she asked me to sort out how I felt. And not just about her. About you. And I've been trying to convince myself that friendship between us was the right thing. But I think I've been lying to myself. I'm sorry to spring this on you in the midst of you trying to acclimate here. 

Kara:Don't be sorry. 

Mon-EL:I just don't want to hide things, pretend like they don't exist. 

Kara:After you left, I had a dream where I was walking down this path. A lot like this one. It was peaceful, and serene and... You were there, waiting for me. And all I wanted was for you to be in that field with me. Now you are.

Once Upon a Time 4x02 “White Out” Review

So, David apparently learned his fancy sword fighting skills from Anna! Didn’t see that one coming. And Bo Peep is apparently a warlord? Who thought that was a good idea? Emma and Elsa bond while Emma almost freezes to death. And David and Hook kind of bond while trying to save Emma.

Summary: Elsa creates an ice barrier around Storybrooke so she can find her sister, but ends up trapping herself and Emma inside. In the Enchanted Forest, Anna visits David and helps him against the warlord, Bo Peep.

Opening: Ice Wall

New Characters: 

Bo Peep: I’m sorry, she’s just so ridiculous. What writer thought ‘Hey, I know! We need to create a warlord for Charming to fight. He has sheep, let’s make her Bo Peep?” Anyway, all we know is that she’s a bully and she can somehow brand people with her crook to make them part of her flock so if they try to leave instead of paying her, they won’t be able to. Bo Peep wants Charming’s horse in exchange for what’s owed, but he won’t give her that either. Charming tries to get Anna away from the farm, but apparently Bo Peep has taken her for collateral and also, she’s been branded. Charming does end up fighting and beating Bo Peep, despite the fact that he’s had one sword fighting lesson.

In Storybrooke, Bo Peep is a butcher. She’s quite bitchy to David and refuses to help him find Anna, so he and Hook steal the crook instead.

Character Observations:

Charming/David: Wow! I thought the hair was bad in The Shepherd but it’s so much worse. Anna goes to see him in Misthaven. He’s apparently a friend of Kristoff’s. Charming is pretty smart as he deduces that Anna is not who she says she is and that she is Kristoff’s fiance. Although, he does think he’s invited to the wedding, and considering it was supposed to have already happened, I guess someone got left off the invite list. Oops. Anna asks to stay in his barn, and that’s when Bo Peep shows up. She is basically extorting money from them so no one will harm their sheep, but Charming and Ruth(!) don’t have it. Bo Peep asks for his horse for an extra day, but Charming won’t part with it. If they don’t pay, the farm is hers. Charming, stupidly, tells his mother they should just leave and start over somewhere else (how, you just said you don’t have any money?) in front of Bo Peep, and she brands them with magic. Apparently she can now find them with her crook no matter where they go (well, that would’ve been useful when Snow and Charming were courting and on the run). Anna tells Charming he should fight Bo Peep, but he can’t fight a warlord and her small army with his fists. Anna teaches him to sword fight. So, I guess that answers any questions we had in The Shepherd about how Charming knew how to use a sword. Charming loses easily to Anna and claims he can’t fight. Anna tells him he can’t keep running away and that he’s never dealt with loss if he’s going to be such a coward. Charming tells Anna about how his father was a drunk and ended up dying at the bottom of a ravine and that’s why he can’t fight Bo Peep. Despite all this, Anna still wants to continue to train him if he wants. She tells him to meet her the next morning in the barn. The next morning Charming wants her to leave before Bo Peep gets there, but he’s too late. She’s already branded and apparently kidnapped Anna to get Charming to do what she wants. A few hours later Charming meets Bo Peep at some random gazebo (is this supposed to be her property? Is the manor in the background hers?). She thinks Charming is stupid for attempting to fight her guards (and considering he just learned to fight yesterday and gave up pretty quickly, I do to), but he somehow manages to dispatch them easily. Bo Peep fights him herself and almost wins, but Charming manages to move right as she comes at him with her sword and it embeds in the gazebo column. Charming ties her up and uses her crook to find Anna. Charming goes to rescue Anna who jumps on him, thinking he’s with Bo Peep. She praises him for winning the impossible battle. Charming gives Anna the horse he refused to part with when Bo Peep wanted it instead of the farm, and she’s off to find Rumplestiltskin.

David and Emma go to find out why the power went out and come across Elsa’s ice wall. Hook joins them. Hook and Emma have a conversation about dating while David goes to listen to something over the car radio. When Emma goes to look at the ice wall, David decides this is the perfect opportunity to ask Hook his intentions toward Emma. Look at David trying to be the protective dad. At least he’s not threatening Hook or telling him Emma will never like him anymore. David and Hook decide to play hero when Emma is taking too long at the ice wall and end up spooking Elsa, who basically creates more of the wall and blasts David and Hook out. Emma and Elsa are now trapped and David figures out they need magic to get them out. Emma contacts them through the walkie-talkie about finding Anna and the necklace Elsa found. Elsa threatens to freeze the entire town if they don’t find her sister, which alarms David and Hook. They go to Gold’s shop and let them know about the necklace and David realizes he knows who Anna is. David finds Bo Peep (now a butcher) and basically steals her shepherd’s crook to see if he can find Anna since she was branded back in the Enchanted Forest. David and Hook rush back when Elsa alerts them to the fact that Emma is freezing to death. Can I just say that I love the whole bromance happening here between David and Hook. See, when they work together they’re just delightful. David talks to Elsa through the walkie-talkie and uses the words Anna said to him to defeat Bo Peep. Elsa recognizes them and that gives her the courage to melt a hole big enough to get her and Emma through. Back at the loft, David shows Elsa the Bo Peep’s crook and they try to see where Anna is. It looks as though they can’t find her, but eventually, they hear her heartbeat, so they know she is still alive. Mary Margaret comes in with baby Neal and wonders who Elsa is. David explains they’re going to find her sister because their family finds people and they don’t like to give up. 

Elsa: She decides that until she and Anna are together, no one is leaving Storybrooke and erects an ice wall around the border. It knocks down a power line which apparently knocks out the power to the entire town? I’m not really sure why. Also, why are there power lines at the border that would knock out the power to the entire town? Anyway, Elsa is hiding in the ice wall for some reason. How that is helping her find Anna is beyond me. Luckily, Emma somehow sees her moving around and goes to check it out. Elsa is overly aggressive with Emma, considering she needs help finding Anna, but Emma calms her down. At least until David and Hook come over and basically threaten Elsa (pulling your gun out, not a smart move David). They sufficiently freak Elsa out enough that she causes more of the ice wall to form and an avalanche to happen, effectively trapping herself and Emma in the wall. She also loses Anna’s necklace down a crack when she and Emma are knocked over during the whole ordeal. Emma asks her to undo the ice wall. Elsa hesitates because she knows she can’t, but covers it up by telling Emma she’ll undo it when they find Anna. Elsa keeps up with the threats when Emma talks to David and Hook through the walkie-talkie, which is just getting old at this point. I know Emma, David, and Hook don’t know she’s just a soft teddy bear, but since the audience does, it just doesn’t hit right. We get no sense of imminent danger at the moment because we know Elsa won’t make good on her threats. Emma calls Elsa out on not being able to control her powers because she is the same way with hers, and just hearing that someone else has powers crumbles Elsa’s (internal) walls. She confesses that Anna helps her control her powers and that’s why she needs her. Elsa gets concerned when Emma complains that she’s tired and needs to lay down. She realizes the cold is killing Emma and she can’t do anything about it. Elsa starts asking Emma about her powers and the conversation evolves into both of them being thrust into a life they weren’t prepared for (Elsa as queen, Emma as the savior). Great girl bonding between these two. Elsa apologizes for trapping them in the ice, but Emma is getting too cold and Elsa is now worried. Eventually, David comes back and convinces Elsa that he knew Anna and they can help her if she can just get Emma out. This helps her enough that she manages to make a hole in the ice wall so they can rescue Emma. David thanks her for getting Emma out, but Elsa feels guilty for endangering Emma in the first place. She is grateful that David still plans on helping her find Anna. Elsa attempts to take down the ice wall around the town, but it won’t budge. 

Mary Margaret: In the stupidest D plot to come around, Mary Margaret, who just had a baby, like two days ago, is enlisted by Leroy, Happy, and Granny to get the power back on in the town. Mary Margaret who has already been complaining of no sleep because she has a FREAKIN NEWBORN, has been made mayor (according to the three amigos), because she was the one who enacted the curse this time around. So they head off to the power company to try and get the power back on for the whole town. I’m confused. The ice wall knocked out one power line, and instead of getting that up and fixed, Mary Margaret has to turn something on from the power grid? Maybe I just don’t know enough about how power works, but none of this makes sense. Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest start going on about how they can’t do anything without electricity and it finally reaches the boiling point when Happy just starts naming off all devices that are abbreviations and Mary Margaret loses it. She screams at them for getting so upset about the loss of power when they grew up in the EF with no power whatsoever. That’s their cue to leave and let Mary Margaret (and a sleeping baby Neal) deal with the power outage themselves. Mary Margaret attempts to read the instruction manual (that’s in Japanese) and thinks she’s got it, but it still doesn’t work. When baby Neal starts crying, she realizes that the grid needs fuel, and she finally gets the power on.

Emma/Hook: Emma’s trying to help Henry through Regina’s meltdown over Robin and Marian, but Henry is too upset that Regina doesn’t want to see him. The power goes out while Emma is trying to comfort Henry at Granny’s. She and David go check it out. Hook joins them having discovered in the short time since the power outage that the ice wall goes around the whole town (there’s a lot of town, it’s not as small as they keep making us think it is). He sees the downed power line and deduces that’s the reason for the outage and Emma compliments him on becoming a 21st century man. Emma and David ponder why the ice wall has been put up and Hook, quite seriously, says to take them out one by one. He may be charming, but let’s not forget he was a cold-blooded pirate for 200 hundred plus years. David goes to listen to the police radio (who is on this thing? Did they hire some more deputies we don’t know about?), and Hook mentions he should’ve brought champagne since it’s his and Emma’s second date. She’s confused about when they ever went on a first date. He’s counting their chasing after the ice monster as the first. He says if they only count quiet dinners they’d never get one. And then Emma suddenly sees something in the ice wall and leaves Hook to go ‘check it out’. I honestly don’t know if she really saw Elsa or if she was just trying to get out of the situation because she’s still not ready to define their relationship. Hook looks pretty devastated at her avoidance. And that’s when David decides he and Hook need to talk about his intentions. I find this whole conversation extremely funny considering Hook is older than David. Anyway, Hook clarifies that he wouldn’t fight for someone he just sees as loot (and he seems really offended that David would still think about him), and that whatever they become is just as much up to Emma as him. That’s exactly the kind of guy Emma needs. Not someone who says I’ll fight for you, but someone who wants to be on your team during the fighting. Emma gets trapped in the ice wall and Hook is pretty much hysterical trying to get her out. Luckily, David is a little more level-headed. When Emma finally gets out, she immediately goes into Hook’s arms (!!) and he bridal carries her to the car to go home. At the loft, Emma is given many blankets to warm her up, and she and Hook are holding hands. Swoon! And he continues to hold her to keep her warm and she lets him!!

Anna: Apparently, she is responsible for teaching Charming how to swordfight. Anna travels to Charming’s home and introduces herself as Joan, for reasons (secret mission). Charming immediately knows she’s Kristoff’s fiance due to the fact that Kristoff is the only person he knows in Arendelle and she’s wearing an engagement ring. Anna’s not very good at being stealthy. After Bo Peep’s visit, Anna teaches Charming to swordfight, and despite his reservations, he manages to beat Bo Peep’s henchmen and Bo Peep after one day of training. Anna being in danger gives him confidence. Anna is very surprised that magic seems to be very common in Misthaven and inquires of Ruth about someone who can help her with Elsa’s magic. She writes down Rumplestiltskin’s name for her and Anna is off to find him.

Regina and Henry: Regina is wallowing. Henry is trying to cheer her up, but she doesn’t want to speak or see anyone. I get Regina is upset about the whole Robin/Marian thing, but Henry is her son. Not to mention he lives with her part-time. And, they haven’t spent any time together since he got his memory back. Regina’s really that upset that she wouldn’t want her son there for comfort? 

Questions:

Does Storybrooke get power from outside the town? Did the ice wall cut it off? We saw one power line down due to the ice wall, did that give power to the whole town?

David mentions to Belle and Gold that they had Anna’s necklace. He doesn’t mention anything about the pendant. How does Belle pick it out of their inventory cards on the first try? Did she just assume that because there’s an ice wall, the necklace would be the snowflake one?

Anyone else think that Bo Peep had somehow put Anna in the snowflake necklace?

So, once Charming beats Bo Peep, does that mean she won’t try to extort money from her anymore? Seems a little iffy to just leave her when she could come back and harm Charming and Ruth.

Has Anna’s wedding been rescheduled? She invites Charming and Ruth to the wedding, but they hadn’t been invited originally. Had this whole adventure happened, Kristoff’s one non-Troll friend wouldn’t have been invited. 

Anyone else not hearing the heartbeat? I honestly can’t remember if I heard the previous times I’ve watched this episode, but I did not hear it the numerous times I watched it for this review. I only knew what was happening due to closed captioning.

Who is the mysterious woman with ice powers that runs the ice cream shop? A relative of Elsa’s? The Snow Queen? A random person who also has ice powers?

Observations:

Anna tells Charming her name is Joan. In the movie Frozen, Anna talks to the painting of Joan of Arc that’s on the wall.

The mobile above Baby Neal’s crib are sheep.

Emma and David think babies dream about laser tag and bullfighting, lol.

The snowflake necklace is broken in Storybrooke.

Anna does the cool little sword flip that is Charming’s signature move.

I’m assuming Anna and Kristoff never got married as David would have been at the wedding and met Elsa and known Anna was her sister if they did.

The ice cream shop is called Any Given Sundae.

Timeline Issues:

If Anna met Charming before he was even Charming, it has to have been over 30 years since that meeting. Which would make Anna older than Elsa at this point, unless she was part of the curse.

Lots of good stuff is happening in this episode. We get some development with Emma and Hook. We now know Elsa is not going to be the villain and that this half of the season’s mystery partially seems to revolve around finding Anna. But also, who is the mysterious ice cream lady?

So I held off posting anything because I really needed to compile my thoughts first and what I’ve concluded is um......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH LOOK AT IT, LOOK AT THEM, IT’S HAPPENING, MY HEART, I SQUEALED WHEN I FIRST SAW IT, I’M SO GIDDY

This was literally me when I saw it:

Okay but for real, we love this. And with the twist at the end of 2x17, everything has been written immaculately and honestly I’m just so impressed with this show that they went that deep, they’ve really taken due care with the creation of the show in each and every detail. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better it did, and I’ll be honest I was getting worried when in regards to the Nace content slowing down but now I realise that not only was it deliberate but they were saving up for this (at least that’s how I see it).

Now one of the biggest questions on our minds as Nace shippers has obviously been as to whether or not this moment is going to be, as I’ll say, “real” but I’m gonna say that we shouldn’t worry either way as to whether this will be in Nancy’s mind or a real moment between her and Ace. Now, putting aside all complications for now in relation to Amanda and the as ever annoying Gil, as far as I see it it’s real either way; if this happens in Nancy’s mind then it means she’s finally all in on how she feels and it will be a real moment for herself, accepting what it is she feels for Ace, and if this is for real outside of her mind (which btw I would absolutely die of joy) then they’re both finally on the same page and they both take on the responsibility of navigating what they’ve been dancing around and what they feel goddammit. 

I’ve got so many theories of what might lead up to this scene that we’re gonna get, because make no mistake they will kiss and it will be epic, but that’s for me to obsess over, besides words can’t do it justice right now. As far as what I’d like to see for them when they enter a proper relationship together, and yes I say when because there are no if’s at this point, and not to mention they’re definitely endgame; like how they’ve been slow burn, I want things to be subtle, little moments, very gradual, maintaining they’re investigative duo thing, maybe even not really telling anybody they’re together, having little nods with them holding hands and other stuff like that, and if you thought personal space was a thing of the past before then you won’t even remember it when they’re a thing. Oh Oh and maybe even having reminiscing moments where they remember times from past sleuthing’s to investigate or something, looking at each other with an affectionate gaze in their eyes even just for a split second, maybe even a “that’s when I knew I liked you” moment, or Nancy actually cuts her hand this time and Ace fixes her up, little touches that linger. Oh dear, see just like that I’m spiralling but anyways, yeah you get the gist, the list goes on. Small ones before big ones, and maybe the the odd big moment between the little ones at times of importance, yada yada.

Also, don’t think for one moment that in 2x18 it’s going to be without scenes of Ace being in fear of Nancy’s life, as this image below shows:

And if we look closer:

See me with them hands, because there’s no way he’s holding her like that if he’s not a) scared as hell for her or b) got feelings for her. That’s not just a supportive set of hand placements, that’s a “don’t you dare take her” and “I can’t lose her” kind of set of hands placements, specifically full on affectionate hand holding and hand on arm placement. You could say I’m reaching but I’m really not, this pic could easily have had everyone holding her or close in some way, but they chose just to have Ace doing this? that’s PLANNED. Which means that whilst Nancy’s coming to terms with what Ace means to her, Ace is definitely doing the same. Ace will definitely have his moments, looking at Nancy and most likely coming to some serious terms about what he feels. Even though they’re not necessarily, and most likely not, going to be boyfriend and girlfriend at the start of season 3, it’s end up like that at least, I’m sure.

Also on a quick note I was looking at this promo pic:

Nancy’s wrist is straight up cut wide open, and from the lack of blood the Wraith must really be doing a number on her at this point if it weren’t already apparent from the otherwise zombie-fied appearance she’s got going on.

I bet they’re looking at Nancy, and from what I can tell the room matches up with the one in the previous pic, I’m guessing whatever contraption that box with the vials and stuff on it is has something to do with it or something.

Anyways, to say I’m excited would be an understatement. As much as I don’t want the season to be over yet, we’re definitely getting a feast, and with season 3 being a given I think we can handle it. Aside from the rising of Nace, Nancy Drew has and continues to be the one to raise the bar with every aspect, certainly I will remain intrigued with how they’ll progress everything going forward with everyone. Also, it’s most likely that season 3 will come sooner rather than later, at the earliest from what I’ve read it’ll likely be towards the latter end of this year that it’ll premier and at the latest is early next year. I mean any wait is torturous, but under the circumstances I think we’ll manage. Also, Nancy Drew is being moved to Fridays for next season so put that in your diaries, we are not letting this show go.

That’s my 2 cents anyways, anything any of you guys wanna add please do. What I’ll say for now is I am LIVING for this show, can’t wait to see what’s next. Keep up the good work! (oh and to all the haters of Nace in particular, keep it coming because in case you hadn’t noticed we’re winning and it just makes sense, I don’t need to explain to you why they’re perfect together, anything I say that’s for me and the rest of us to enjoy, I’m not doing it for you)

Is he talking to Taylor here? I don't think so. My guess is that Taylor's not even there yet. I feel like this scene is in Bobby and Athena's house. They probably have a small gathering there to celebrate the success of their call. My theory about the "great" line is, Eddie comes to Buck to where he's standing and invited him to his house to finally meet Ana for dinner or whatever. Buck of course agree and he felt like uncomfortable ( I have no proof to back up his discomfort but the way how he looks when he said "great" doesn't look or sound like he's excited or happy) then Eddie is glad Buck agrees and leave him to meet the other people in the area. That moment is when he said "great" and then the doorbell rings signaling Taylor's arrival.

Then here it is, Buck and Taylor finally talking and even said they make a great team.

But what makes Eddie decides to finally introduce Buck to Ana after more than 3 months of dating?

Again, my theory about this came from a pattern of events that happened from the previous episodes. Eddie's impulsive decisions has something to do with Buck's actions. Here's why.

Taylor Kelly was first introduced in 2x06 Dosed episode. Buck clearly show interest on Taylor after rescuing her on that chopper. It was also clear he show his interest when Taylor visited the firehouse for a documentary. Everybody was there to witness, including Eddie.

Shannon was first introduced in 2x07 Haunted episode through Carla's insistence. Carla talked sense to Eddie that Christopher needs his mother though Eddie made it pretty clear he doesn't want Shannon back in his life but because of Carla and the school, he finally gave in and invited Shan to his house. After the argument, he considered reconciling with his wife after the school visit and kissed her. Though hesitant at first, he kissed her again like kissing all his pain away.

Buck jumps back to the dating scene in 2x08 Buck Actually episode. He had sex with Taylor in a public restroom. He even went as far as talking about it to the 118 especially with Bobby. Eddie was there and he heard it. Also, during the episode, Ali's been calling Buck but was hesitant at first. Closing the episode, he finally agreed to meet Ali in a shop. That's when they started dating.

It is now known to everyone that Buck is dating Ali. This is when Eddie finally had sex with his wife in 2x10 Merry Ex-mas episode. After having sex and arguments, Eddie invited Buck instead to join him and Christopher to visit Santa. Buck loves to cry about the military surprised their family videos, Eddie realizes that he fully needs Shannon for Christopher.

Buck and Ali's relationship continues to grow (but there wasn't any build up) Buck finally found an apartment for himself so Ali can stay whenever she wants. Eddie and Shannon's relationship reconciled but it feels like they're both walking on eggshells. The only push that Eddie needs is that when Shannon though she's pregnant but was false alarm. She felt like Eddie looked at her as Chris' mom but not his wife anymore and so she wanted file a divorce and eventually died in 2x17 Careful what you wish for episode.

In 2x18, Ali left Buck. She loves him yes, but she can't handle Buck's job anymore after seeing him almost died.

Season 3 both Buck and Eddie are single. Hmm suspicious.

In Season 4 (LS's crossover episode) Buck was caught staring to Marjan by Hen and Eddie confirmed it by saying "you're staring" looking disappointed. Disappointed Eddie joins Judd, Paul and Marjan instead of his partner. He was intrigued why Buck was staring at her and decides to follows her on Insta. He talks about Buck helping him build the skateboard (It was Buck's idea anyway) and not-so defending him that he's harmless but mostly. It was bordering defending but clearing him while staring at Marjan to get a reaction from her. And later on asked her to follow back Buck in Insta. A mission accomplished for Eddie.

In 4x06, Buck announced the software update to Buck 3.0 - Kinder and Gentler version of himself. It was also his declaration of moving on from the past and starts to look for his future because he was tired of looking behind his shoulder. Eddie processed all the new information and even said that Buck should allow to give himself some time to process. An advice that he's been doing to himself, allowing some time to mourn more. STUCK. Eddie met Ana again. He talked about it to Buck but nothing came out of their conversation. He almost forgot about it when Buck's bratty attitude cornered him in front of his team mates about Ana's love languages (Like as if Eddie knows, right?) Hen, Chim and Bobby interrogates him about her. It was then implied that Eddie has no plans of dating Ana but it was Bobby that pushed him to go back out there to find something real. So Eddie dates Ana in an episode called JINX.

After learning Eddie's date (an implied scenario) Buck let himself back to the market as well in 4x07 and dated Veronica. It ended up in a disaster. He talks about it to Eddie even if the date didn't end well. Information is key.

After learning of Buck's back to dating again, Eddie dates Ana again, in her house. A Math date which he set an alarm for. Eddie did even say she's a terrible Math teacher but a great cook and an amazing woman. Just like a female version of someone. Buck is terrible at Math, can cook and obviously an amazing guy. Buck asked Eddie how was the date and he answered without looking his eye that she taught her MATH. It was an intentional slap to Buck's lack of Math knowledge. Why mention Math? I will never understand. Also, Taylor Kelly is back again. Covering at the same time the 118 attending the call. Buck was with Taylor most of the 6-hour waiting call while the 118 we're almost together. An implication that everyone knows including Eddie that Buck is with Taylor talking to her the whole damn time. So that night an impulse decision was made, he tells Chris that he's seeing someone. Christopher didn't take the news right and went straight to Buck's. Since they didn't show the scene where Eddie picks Chris to Buck's house where most probably he learned that Buck just came from a double date with Taylor and Albert with Veronica, and after learning Taylor called Buck to ask for a miracle, another impulse decision Eddie has made, he let Ana introduce her to his son too soon..

While Buck and Taylor continues to be friends, Eddie and Ana's relationship continues after 3 months of dating as seen by the time jump in 4x10 Parenthood episode.

As you can see, everything that Buck does first, it affects Eddie... In a very SUBTLE WAY. Another perfect example was the lawsuit. Buck's lawyer told Buck to stop communicating to the 118 (including Eddie) until the arbitration. The none contact triggered Eddie's past from Shannon. It was an implication that he put Buck in Shannon's position. The none contact has seen Eddie in an instant downward spiral. His impulsive decisions and constipated emotions led him to jail and almost kill someone in an underground fight club. This is the same person who will do everything for his SON, fyi.

So what I'm trying to say again here is, after the episodes 4x11 and 4x12 where most probably a Buck/Taylor centric episodes, Eddie's gonna make an impulse decision again and invite Buck to finally meet Ana to his house. And Buck, most probably bring Taylor with him. We'll see about that.

I want you to pay attention to the second gif, Danny's reaction here is of someone that is recalling something in that precisely moment, and then when he remembered, he looks back at Steve surprised, amazed because is Steve referring to this? Because, whene did Danno said that? Oh right!

So! When Steve says that so sure, Danny tries to recall when did he said that, that's the face, and then he remembers their first date, and how flirty they were with each other, and then he looks back at Steve like 'Really? Are you talking about that time? Okay, let's come back to the flirt game!'

So... From that moment on, Danny starts using the word 'buddy' several times, but painting it with flirty tone.

(Yes, please go rewatch this, because there's a huge change on their behavior after Steve says "You love me.")

After this, we have Steve, trying to caught Danny's attention, while spreading his macho energy, and flirting with him with smooth and cool movements in this scene...

Simple. 

My thought... every question fans have are of the first three seasons. They'll push through to that painting in Drexel, reveal Red's identity, then end it. Sam Milhoan, Gina Zanetakos, Victor Fokin, Meera Malik, Diane Fowler, Takoma Park, Swan Lake, and Liz's Montreal DNA test were in the first season. Carla Reddington, the Harbormaster, Red’s shooting, and Tom Connolly were in the second. The Cabal, the hydra map, the glasnost file in Lady Ambrosia, the Drexel painting, Scottie and Christopher Hargrave.... all in the third. Liz's second memory wipe is there too. Liz's memory wipe and Takoma Park are the only storylines I imagine them pulling more flashbacks.

I believe Meera’s daughter will push half this list because while my Tom Domino theory is huge, it won’t take much. She should be able to connect most of it. Fokin, Fowler, and Connolly will connect with a single fingerprint id. Because Ressler put a flag on Tom’s aliases in 2x17, it could very well have continued into the timeline of Liz’s second memory manipulation, and Ressler have no idea.

Chapter 4: A shoulder to cry on  They haven't heard from Eddie in 3 days since Shannon's passing and Buck is worried. An additional scene set between 2x17 and 2x18

It was months later when Buck used Eddie’s key for the second time, half wishing it was for an actual emergency because at least then he would know what to do.

It had been three days since Shannon had passed away and he couldn’t help but worry about Eddie. Realistically, he knew that Eddie had Chris, his Abuela, and Tia to keep him company, but it wasn’t enough to stop him from worrying until he heard from or saw the man in person.

No one had heard a word from the man since the accident, not that he expected to hear from the grieving man, but all of his attempts to contact the man had him stonewalled and left on read with nary a reply, so he could only begin to imagine how the man was doing.

“Any word from Eddie?” He asked while they took the opportunity for a 3 pm lunch, passing Hen her sandwich, hoping that maybe he’d reached out to someone.

“Haven’t since the hospital,” Chim responded in between mouthfuls of his sandwich and looked to Hen who shrugged and shook her head empathetically.

“Last I spoke to him was when I let him know he could have a much time as he needed and that wasn’t much of a conversation.” Added Bobby as he packed away the sandwich fillings.

Buck nodded along in understanding but still feeling uneasy, unsure of what he could do to help his grieving partner. It takes him the rest of the shift to decide but eventually he figured it would be worth it to at least check on him in person on his way home after shift.

Before leaving the station, he sent a quick message to Eddie.

Me: I know you haven’t answered any of my other messages but thought I might stop by on my way home tonight, just thought I’d give you a heads up if you didn’t want me to.

Eddie: Read 8:28pm

It was nearing 9 pm by the time Buck made it to Eddie’s place. He intended to be there much earlier, but he ended up stopping along the way to pick up a Nutella pizza and beer figuring Eddie might like some comfort food.

Buck checked his phone when he parked outside Eddie’s house. Taking the lack of response as a sign that he didn’t not want him to come over. He slid the beer and pizza from the passenger seat into his lap before getting out and locking the truck.

As he walked up to the house, he hesitated a few steps from his Jeep briefly reconsidering this whole idea, doubt colouring his thoughts about whether or not he was overstepping just to give himself peace of mind. With a bite of his lip, he surged forward to the door pushing past the indecision and gave it a cursory knock before using the key to unlock it.

Upon entering, he could hear the faint sound of the tv as he tentatively made his way inside calling out to Eddie, wondering if he was even going to accept his presence. Moving through the house he passed the empty living room immediately noting the lack of Chris’ presence and energy within the walls despite the hour, the heavy weight of sorrow taking his place.

He found his partner in the kitchen peering absentmindedly into the fridge seemingly unaware Buck had been calling his name and watched as he startled slightly when he closed the fridge door having taken nothing out of it.

“Uh, hey man. Thought you might like some company.” Buck said cautiously, unable to read Eddie’s face like he normally could. Eddie’s eyes momentarily flickered with what looked to be gratitude before taking the beer out of his hand and carried it to the living room.

Taking that as an invitation to hang around, Buck followed him, concern blossoming in his chest. Eddie set the beer down, immediately taking one, and opened it as he collapsing on the couch. Buck did the same, placing the pizza down next to the beer and fell into the adjacent armchair.

The tv was quietly playing some kind of nature documentary and it was only now that Buck noticed looking around that most of the lights were off except the lamp sitting behind the couch bathing them in muted light.

He turned his attention back to Eddie, who has slouched down into the couch, staring glassy-eyed at the tv with the beer resting on his leg, untouched. He looked exhausted, with dark shadows under his eyes and hair mussed. It looked like he hadn’t shaved since Buck last saw him which, considering the circumstance was unsurprising. All in all, he looked like what you’d expect of a man who had recently lost his wife.

“I – Uh, brought a Nutella pizza, it’s not the healthiest of choices but I’ve always found that it’s surprisingly good comfort food. Though, you don’t have to eat it if you don’t want to.” Buck rambled, unsure of what else to say. Eddie barely acknowledged that he heard aside from a quick glance at him and the box, staying silent as he turned back to stare off in the direction of the tv.

Buck rubbed the back of his neck feeling kind of awkward, “Look, man. I don’t know how you must be feeling right now, but I’m here if you wanted someone to talk to or I can just sit here quietly…” he took in Eddie’s far off expression, “…or I can just go if that’s what you want.”

He moved to get up taking the quiet as an answer, but Eddie quickly snagged his wrist, halting his movement. Buck looked down at him, who in turn was looking up at him with glistening eyes.

It was then that Eddie uttered a small, “Don’t go, not yet.”

With a look like that, Buck couldn’t imagine being able to deny such a request, his heart just wouldn’t allow it.

He sat back down, choosing instead to take a seat next to Eddie on the couch, shuffling closer to him until their legs were pressed together. Eddie sagged into the couch following Buck’s seating choice and released what sounded to be a relieved sigh, seemingly taking comfort in the contact. After some moments he leaned forward and set the still untouched beer on the coffee table and then rested his forearms on his knees with his hands hanging between them and head bowed.

“The house is so quiet when Chris isn’t here, even when he’s asleep it never feels like this. My Abuela and Tia have been here ever since they found out about the accident but today, they thought it might be a good idea for Chris to stay with them tonight just so I could have some time for myself to process.”

He absentmindedly reached for a slice of pizza and took a small bite of it before setting it on top of the box, “I just don’t know what to do with myself. The funeral is a day from now, my family and her family are coming, and I have no idea of what I’m going to do or say.”

He continued, voice now thick with emotion, “I was ready to be a family again, I thought we were having another kid together and then we weren’t. I was ready to be a family again and she wanted a divorce and then she died just like that,” Eddie choked back a sob, “Even after all of that and everything that we went through, I still loved her.”

It was then that he started to cry in full force over this admittance, letting the grief and the emotions that were mingled in with it flow through him through his tears.

Not knowing what to say, Buck did the only thing he could think to do and silently wrapped a supportive arm around Eddie’s shoulders as he crumpled in on himself.

Eddie’s body shook with the heavy sobs as he turned his head into Buck’s shoulder, soaking the material of his shirt with his tears. Feeling his heart break for the man that he’s grown to care for, Buck rubbed soothing circles into Eddie’s shoulder as he cried, knowing there was nothing that he could say that would ease this kind of pain.

They stayed like that for some time, Buck just holding Eddie until the flow of tears start to dry up and Eddie pulled away, wiping at his face and looking embarrassed. Buck let his arms fall away, allowing Eddie as much space as he wanted.

“Sorry, I’m never like–”

Buck interrupted him with a stalling hand before he could finish what he was about to say, “Don’t say another word, you have nothing to apologise for. I’m here for you, whatever you need, even if it meant just being a shoulder to cry on.”

“Thank you,” breathed Eddie softly as he gave him a small smile.

“Did you want me to stay?” Buck asked gently, seeing now that Eddie might need the company.

He watched as Eddie slouched down and rest his head on the back of the couch, tilting his head to the side look at him. “Could you? You make it feel less quiet, you always do.”

Buck slumped down, mirroring Eddie as he took in the smoothed lines of his face in the glow of the tv, making himself more comfortable while keeping his knee in contact with Eddie’s.

“Okay then, I’ll stay.” He breathed, knowing that he would do anything Eddie asked of him

They stayed like that for a couple of hours, with Buck quietly telling Eddie about all the calls that he had missed over the last couple of days, embellishing where he could. Eddie for his part, did his best to respond and ask questions when appropriate, but as the time passed, his answers shortened and started turning into hums, and eventually he slid sideways against Buck, lightly snoring.

Buck carefully moved out from under him and gently set him down on the couch, lifting his feet up so that he was lying more comfortably on his side. He then went to Eddie’s room and grabbed the comforter and a pillow and brought them back to the lounge room, easing the pillow under his friend’s head before draping the comforter over him.

With hands on his hips, he tore his gaze from the sleeping man to survey the rest of the room and decided to, at the very least, clear up the coffee table, gathering the beers and pizza, moving them to the kitchen. Placing both onto the bench, he scratched his head in dismay.

There were a number of dishes piled up beside and in the sink. It looked as though nothing had been washed in a few days, that is not to say that Eddie didn’t have or use his dishwasher, he did, except for the fact that it was currently half full of clean dishes.

Realising that it was too late to get stuck into them now as it was past midnight and not wanting to wake Eddie with the clattering of dishes, Buck made a mental note to tackle the cleaning in the morning and instead put both the pizza and what was left of the beer in the fridge.

When he returned to the living room, he kicked off his shoes and set them by the door before grabbing the blanket draped on the back of the armchair and settled into the chair for the night watching the quiet rise and fall of Eddie’s chest, letting the rhythm lull him to sleep as he kept his promise to stay.

Eddie woke up suddenly for no discernible reason, confusion muddling his thoughts as he took in his surroundings. Why was he sleeping on the couch? And how did his comforter and pillow get from his bedroom to the living room? He jolted upright, now realising that the reason he woke up was because there were noises coming from the kitchen.

A quick surge of panic rose within him and he threw back the comforter preparing to defend himself against the intruder as he heard the footfalls travelling towards the kitchen doorway. Almost as quickly as it had come, the panic vanished and was replaced by relief as soon as Buck came into view carrying two mugs of coffee, bringing forth the memory of the night before.

“Morning.” Buck greeted as he set down a mug in front of Eddie on the coffee table before sighing and falling into the armchair.

Looking him up and down, Eddie noticed that Buck was wearing exactly the same clothing as he was the night before, minus the shoes. The blanket that was usually folded and draped on the back of the armchair was now bundled and spilling over the arm.

Eddie took a sip of the coffee, watching Buck as he did so.

“You stayed.” He murmured over the lip of the mug, both unsurprised and surprised that the man had stayed in the awkward chair for the night just because he asked him to stay.

“I said that I would,” answered Buck easily.

They fell into a companionable silence after that, not feeling a need to fill the air with words, instead sipping contentedly at their coffees. It wasn’t until he had finished half of the mug that Buck announced that he answered a call from Pepa on Eddie’s phone earlier, saying that she would be over with Christopher in an hour or so.

Once their coffees were drained, they straightened up the living room, gathering up the bedding from the couch and took it back to the bedroom, it was here that Buck cleared his throat, “Hey, Eds.”

Eddie hummed in response, focusing on smoothing out the comforter.

“I know we’ll be on shift when the funeral is scheduled, but if you want, I’ll ask Bobby if we can stop by…”

“You don’t have to Buck, it’s okay if you guys can’t make it, I’ll have my family there,”

“I want us to. To be there for you.”

Touched by his insistence, Eddie looked up and gave him a small smile, “That would be nice.”

Buck matched his smile with one of his own, “Okay then.”

And that was that. Buck left shortly after once everything was in order, claiming that Eddie should take some time to himself to clean up and sort himself before his son came home, to which he didn’t disagree as he ran a hand across his jawline.

It was only after Buck had left and Eddie had taken a shower did he notice that the laundry hamper in the bathroom was void of any clothes causing him to do a double take. Puzzled, he headed to the laundry, still wrapped in his towel, only to discover two neatly stacked piles of freshly washed and dried clothes, one for him and one for Christopher.

He smiled to himself taking his stack to his bedroom and got dressed. Stomach now grumbling from the lack of breakfast, Eddie made his way to the kitchen to discover that Buck had also cleaned every inch of the kitchen. All the dishes had either been washed by hand and stacked or been put in the dishwasher which was only a few minutes away from finishing its cycle.

He opened the fridge revealing the last surprise of the morning, a jug of pancake batter with a post-it note attached to it, “Eat Me! :)” was inscribed on it in Buck’s scrawl causing Eddie to actually chuckle to himself, something that he didn’t think was possible since Shannon had passed. He pulled out his phone and send Buck a text.

Me: I hope that note isn’t suggesting that these pancakes will make me a giant like Alice. Me: Thanks again for everything you’ve done.

Buck’s response was almost immediate.

Buck: Can’t say I can promise anything about the pancakes ;) Buck: No worries man, I said I’d have your back.

Eddie smiled at the phone before putting it in his pocket and turned his attention to making some pancakes wondering how he could even come close to returning the favour. As it turned out, that opportunity came about sooner than he expected.

A List of All of Sam Winchester’s Injuries

Now, this list might not be the most accurate. I did not sit down and watch every single episode in full, eyes glued to the screen for every time Sam got injured. I only skimmed. Here’s a gif I made to show how I did it: 

(sorry it’s bad quality, it’s the first gif I’ve ever made) I skimmed through the episode and used the little preview screen to look for any time there was fast movement, blood or a spell that might require someone cutting their palm. I also kept an eye out for angel-banishing sigils. Since I only skimmed, there’s a chance I missed some injuries or even times that Sam was magically healed. So again, might not be an accurate list but I did my best. Feel free to tell me anything I missed. 

Here’s a key to help you through the list: - most of this lists the actual injury, e.g. “cut on left temple” but other times it’ll list an action that may cause injury, e.g. “thrown into wall” - “thrown into / against” means that he impacted the object, but the object did not break / he did not go through it - “thrown through” means that the object broke on impact and he ended up on the other side - “internal pain” means that someone used magic to do something to him, but I have no idea what, all I know is that he looked in pain and was mostly gripping his stomach - “handcuffed” means actual handcuffs were used, “tied around wrists” means either rope or zip-ties were used - “punched” means just punched in the face, any other area on the body will be specified - any episodes that aren’t on the list means he wasn’t injured in them

Some misc notes: - I do not include injuries that don’t actually happen, e.g. future visions, nightmares, hallucinations or a fake reality - I might be inconsistent with the amount of times I specify what was used to knock Sam out, and not specifying. Sorry about that. It’s because I either just couldn’t see the object, or I was lazy that day - I don’t usually specify the size of the injury either, I usually just say “cut”, sorry. I only realised 6 seasons in that I probably should be specifying the size, and also taking screenshots, but I couldn’t be bothered going back back and fixing it, nor could I be bothered specifying the size from then on. I’m sorry, it was just going to feel weird if 6 seasons in I only then start specifying - I don’t include possessions as injuries, but I do specify when injuries happen while possessed - I include some commentary of what kind of injuries I thought should’ve happened based on the action - There’s also a list of Dean’s injuries, but there won’t be a list for Cas. Going into this, I only wanted to know Dean and Sam’s injuries for some redesigns I want to do, I didn’t feel it was necessary for me to know Cas’ because he won’t have scars in my redesign (at least his vessel won’t). Please don’t expect me to go back and make a list for Cas, this already took up so much of my time and I don’t want to do it again.
