Hi hi! I'm not sure if you've written smth like this before, but if you haven't could you maybe write smth short about Kuro being jealous of Ryuuji taking up Rin's time for dates and such? I really just think fics from kuros pov of bonrin's relationship adorable

How Do You Like Meow?

It was warm against Rin's chest, drawing soft purrs from the cat sidhe. The halfling was scratching Kuro's chest, and using Kuro's horns as a place to balance his phone, which was mildly annoying but everything else was nice so Kuro ignored it. His paws stretched and relaxed in a gentle massage, tiny claws catching on Rin's shirt.

Ryuuji paused outside the room, read the text message again and confirmed that, yes, Light had said to take Rin, and it was past eight and likely to be an all night thing.

Feeling a bit like dirt, Ryuuji rapped his knuckles against the door to Rin’s shared room.

Rin pulled himself up, setting Kuro on his warm pillow. Kuro watched with a dismayed chirp as Rin moved to the door and opened it with a curious sway of his tail. Kuro's eyes squinted in a glare at the sight of Ryuuji in full exorcist uniform.

Ryuuji reached for Rin’s hand, catching it and murmuring an apology as he leaned in to give Rin a kiss on the cheek.

“It’s Lightning,” he explained. “He just told me that the Nakamura case can’t wait. He wants us to go question Tanaka and investigate the Kesshou Mansion for any demons or signs of summoning. Tonight.”

Rin's only response was a long sigh and a mumbled, "fuck" before he was tugging Ryuuji inside to get dressed.

Kuro yowled, rolling to expose his belly and flicked his tails.

"Rin!"

"Not now, Kuro. We have to go." Rin said, hurrying to dress. Light was impatient and would come find him and his smell would sink into everything and make Rin crazy later.

Kuro hissed, staring at Ryuuji with his tails lashing. He sat up, licking a paw as he tried to think of a way to make Rin stay. But nothing ever worked.

Ryuuji would always come and drag Rin off and Kuro would be left alone for hours. Then when Rin returned, he would collapse in bed only to be gently woken up by Ryuuji. They would be off to school, and Kuro would be alone again. It was even worse when Rin left for dates or tutoring or whatever else was happening.

Rin was always gone and Ryuuji was always the one to take him.

Rin finished tugging on his belt, having to pause to untangle his exorcist pin and huffed as his tail went under the belt rather than the more comfortable over. Once that minor inconvenience was solved, he was catching Ryuuji's hand, gave him a kiss and was leading the way out of his room, only half listening to Ryuuji's apologies and tossed a, "bye Kuro!" over his shoulder.

That's pretty much what Kuro had been hearing constantly since Rin got his meisters (and a boyfriend)... "bye Kuro."

The cat sidhe stood with a sad chirp, tail low.

He would find a way to make Rin stay home with him. Maybe he should get Ryuuji a present? Humans did that when they were trying to ask nicely for something. Then Ryuuji would stop taking Rin. But just in case that didn't work. A more aggressive approach?

Kuro's tail lifted to a hook, and he slunk from the bed, rubbing his cheek and side against the doorframe as he sought out a way to keep Rin home.

The sun was rising by the time they were home, and Ryuuji was more or less having to drag his poor boyfriend up the steps to the dorm. It had been a horrifically long mission and he felt like utter dirt for it all.

The mansion had also been haunted in the worst sort of ways, and Ryuuji really just wanted to crash for a few hours before they had to get up and go to their classes again.

Once they were inside he called out a greeting so Kuro would know they were back, locked the door, and guided Rin up the stairs towards Rin’s room. He opened that door as well, and got Rin to the middle of the room. He left the bedroom door cracked so Kuro could come and go as he willed, and set to getting their uniforms off.

Kuro was on the bed and staring at them both with solemn eyes, so Ryuuji mumbled a tired greeting while he set the clothes on the desk so they could be put back on in far too short a time.

He then pulled Rin to the bed and flopped down on it for a brief nap. Kuro hissed, but Ryuuji was far too gone to hear him at all as he wrapped Rin up in a hug. Rin’s arms went around his chest, Rin’s head tucked itself under his chin, Rin’s leg curled around his, and Rin’s tail looped itself around his hip. Firmly wound up in each other, Ryuuji joined Rin in sleep.

It felt like the alarm woke him up all of a minute later, and then he had to shake Rin awake. Kuro was watching him with wide eyes, and that would always be a little unnerving to wake up to, but it was just part of life with Rin.

He dumped Rin’s clothes in his lap and moved to pull his own on while Rin stared at his own clothes in sleepy confusion.

Kuro climbed on top of the clothes and head butted Rin’s stomach.

Finished with his own uniform, Ryuuji dragged himself to the doorway and his boots. He grabbed one and pulled it on his foot, and moved to tug the other one on as well, pausing when something slightly solid and slightly soft stopped him.

Pulling his foot free, Ryuuji peered down and promptly felt himself entirely awake as a shot of horrified adrenaline pumped through his body. He flung the boot away from him with a screech, not caring that it hit the wall and left a dirty scuff on the paint, and caring a lot that the mouse spilled out on the floor. He scrambled back from it, yelping out a string of curses he could hardly understand, and slipping on one of Rin’s discarded shirts. He fell down with a loud thud! and gulped in a panicked breath as he tried to scoot himself further back.

Why was there a dead mouse in his shoe?! Had it crawled in there to die?! Had it already been dead?! Had he killed it?!

Nirvana! Were there more?!

Terrified at that thought, Ryuuji sprang to his feet and up onto the bed behind Rin in one bound.

"What?!" Rin cried out, getting to his knees and dumping Kuro to the floor in his rush.

He scanned where the discarded boot had been thrown and found the source of the panic. A mouse. A dead mouse that Kuro was currently picking up and carrying towards them.

"Kuro! Drop it!" Rin wasn't that squeamish but Kuro seemed too pleased with what was obviously his catch. "Was… was that— did you put that in Ryuuji's boot?"

Ryuuji’s hands clutched at Rin’s shoulders, keeping him between Ryuuji and the approaching dead mouse. His boyfriend was not afraid of them (not that Ryuuji was) and Ryuuji didn’t feel bad sacrificing him as a shield against the disgusting thing.

(Put it in his boot? What in the everloving hell had he done to the cat sidhe to make Kuro hate him that much?)

Rin watched Kuro with horrified fascination as the cat dropped the dead mouse on his bed and batted at it with both paws.

"A present!" Kuro chirped.

"A present… why? You— no, no mice in shoes, Kuro. People don't like that."

Kuro's ears went back and he sighed like he was disappointed.

"Present for Ryuuji," Kuro tried.

"Apparently it's a present for you, babe." Rin said over his shoulder.

Ryuuji shifted around so Rin was still between him and the dead mouse.

“I—why? ‘Cause it’s dead? I—thank you,” he stuttered the words out, wanting nothing quite so much as to kick it far away but also not at all wanting to get his foot anywhere near that close to it. “But…you don’t have to do that.” Please, please don’t do that.

Kuro purred, satisfied and picked the mouse up. He ran off with a last purr to dispose of the mouse and Rin couldn't stop the laughter. Well… they weren't tired anymore.

"Do we really have to go to class?" Rin grumbled.

Kuro slid to a stop in the hall, listening to Ryuuji's answer.

Ryuuji gave a full body shudder as he (cautiously) stepped back onto the floor.

“Yes, Rin. We do.” Then in a softer tease, “Well I don’t. I have absences I could use. Someone else has already used all of theirs.”

Rin growled playfully and shoved Ryuuji.

In the hall, Kuro growled in a not playful way and dropped the mouse to instead move to sit disapprovingly in the doorway. That plan didn't work. He would have to try something else.

“Take out or cooking?” Ryuuji asked as he unlocked the door. “I’m happy either way, I just wanna eat.” He was famished and he was blaming it on being awake through the entire night with nothing but a shared protein bar.

He pulled it open for Rin to enter and followed after him with a yawn.

"Take out." Rin didn't think he could cook. He was so tired that he could fall asleep standing up. Ukobach wouldn't be happy if Rin accidentally broke something in his kitchen.

Rin greeted the cat sidhe that was laying on the stairs with a wave, yawning and dreaming of collapsing into bed. He wasn't certain he would be awake enough to get his shoes off.

"Hi Rin!" Kuro called, walking next to their feet with a gentle bump of his body to their ankles.

Ryuuji helped hold Rin upright while his boyfriend clumsily toed his shoes off. He got his own boots off a moment later, calling a quiet ‘hi’ to Kuro as he placed an order for a delivery from the deli with both of their favorites and an extra side of tuna for Kuro.

He half led, half carried Rin up the stairs towards the awaiting bed, shivering a little in the cold dorm. (Thankfully half his clothes hung out at Rin’s place now so he wouldn’t be left cold.)

Setting Rin down on the bed and trying not to laugh at how Rin promptly flopped over onto his side, Ryuuji moved to find his sweater and get a start on his own homework so he could turn in early.

The sweater wasn’t on the dresser where he’d left it. Frowning at that, Ryuuji turned his gaze to the desk, but the sweater wasn’t there either. It wasn’t on Yukio’s side of the room, and Ryuuji was debating just stealing a blanket and warming up that way when he saw a sleeve poking out from under the bed.

Ha!

Ryuuji hurried over, pausing at the last second as he remembered the entirely unwelcome gift in his boot this morning. Swallowing down a rush of discomfort and anxiety, he tentatively grabbed the sleeve and pulled it out from under the bed.

It was just a sweater, no mice —

It had been a sweater. It was now a sleeve with a lot of shredded yarn attached. Either the mice here were truly monstrous, there was a demon hiding somewhere, or Kuro had just…shredded his sweater.

“Rin?” Ryuuji asked, rising back up and holding the ruined remains of his warmest sweater, “do you smell anything in here?” Did he need to do an exorcism?

Rin flapped a hand and mumbled, "no. Nothing but us."

He lifted his head to fix his tired, groggy eyes on Ryuuji and the sweater— well… what should be a sweater that he held.

"What the hell?" He asked with a frown, sitting up to get a closer look.

Ryuuji sat next to Rin, tugging up one of the blankets to wrap around his shoulders. “I don’t know. I left it on the dresser.” He glanced up at Rin. “Have you had clothes getting ripped?”

"No…" Rin picked up a frayed corner, noting the individual strands that had been chewed on.

Kuro was watching them once again, always a couple inches away from them. Rin's eyes narrowed at the slight red yarn caught between Kuro's toes.

"Kuro?" Rin was hesitant to ask. It didn't make sense. Kuro was always so well behaved. "Did you—?"

Kuro's ears fell to press flat against his head and his tails flicked but he did not answer. That should do it. Rin would stay with Kuro now. No more long hours alone.

Ryuuji looked down at his poor sweater, and back up at Kuro. “Why?” he couldn’t help but ask, entirely confused. “Is it ‘cause of the mouse?” He looked at Rin. “I didn’t mean to be rude, but—” he looked back at Kuro. “Just tell me next time? I’ll apologize.”

Kuro yowled and hopped up in Rin's lap, head butting Rin and batted a paw at Ryuuji.

"No! That's not it! You take Rin away. All the time."

Kuro's words made Rin frown as he translated them for Ryuuji, petting Kuro between his horns in a silent apology.

Ryuuji blinked a few times as he worked through all of that.

Why had he left Kuro here last night? Kuro could have easily come along. He could easily come along for most of their missions.

Did he drag Rin away a lot? He supposed it could look and feel like that. (But why did his sweater have to die? Now he was cold and he didn’t have another one over here.)

With a tired huff, Ryuuji set the sweater aside to dispose of properly later. “Kuro,” he said, trying to keep the frustration out of his voice, “tell me that. Don’t just destroy shit or leave dead things in my stuff. I didn’t know you were missing Rin. I… We’ll try and remember to bring you along on missions, but holler if we forget.”

Dates were another matter. It was always awkward to try and kiss Rin when Kuro was hanging out on his head, and he felt silently judged any time he tried to cuddle or romance his boyfriend. But…

“I’ll try and plan stuff around Yukio’s schedule some more so you’re not here all alone. Or figure out some stuff we can do with you. Some stuff.”

"And I can smuggle you into school if you behave yourself." Rin offered.

Kuro meowed, doing happy bounces on Rin's lap before hopping over to Ryuuji's and bonking his head against Ryuuji's chin. He balanced his paws on Ryuuji's chest and licked his cheek.

"We can try that!" Kuro purred.

He ate a dead mouse earlier, Ryuuji couldn’t help but think with a barely disguised shudder as Kuro licked him. He pet the cat sidhe anyway and promised himself a long and thorough shower until all remnants of mouse were entirely gone.

Ryuuji then wrapped his arm around Rin’s waist. He was still going to cuddle Rin even if it put his sweaters at risk. It’d take more than a mouse (ew) and ripped sweater to stop that.

Kuro planted himself on Rin before stretching out as fully as he could to lay on both of them.

He would just have to take what he could get. (And there were plenty of mice in the dorm to bribe them with.)

13. How much planning do you do before writing?

answered here HOWEVER sometimes i DO plan things.... (usually if me and hua are brainrotting over a particular au, we'll hash out all the details ahead of time LMAO)

for example, the 10tihay kaisae au has an entire outline for it!! the order of events, how i want things to get resolved, little details about each character, etc.

planning usually happens for the Long Complicated Ideas because that way i can keep track of any twists or developments i want to get to before writing them down

(but also i will write Out of Order so usually if i have an idea, i jot the scene down itself and insert it wherever it ends up needing to go lol)

19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs.

HMMMMMMM i could be mean and give u a tidbit i've already sent u sdlfkjskldfj but lemme find something that i'm 90% sure you haven't already seen uhhh....

HAVE SOME RYUKURO

Igaguri's head immediately snaps up from his laptop when Kurona unlocks their dorm door. "Where have you been, man? Everyone is fr—" and despite the hoodie Kurona is wearing, Igaguri's eyes zero in on the hand-sized conglomerate hickey on his neck. "What happened to you?!" Before Kurona can even begin to respond, Shidou follows him through the doorway and gives Kurona's roommate a cheeky wave. "Sorry for stealing your shark. It will happen again."

an eventual tidbit for "home is where your teeth sink, love"!! i'm having a good time writing all these dynamics eheheheh

OOOOO have a fic that will never be posted !! hua and i were collabing on a rinsagi hoodie swap fic back in like. april or may? and we both got caught up in other projects and never got to it. i was writing isagi pov so have this:

bachira (12:55pm) why do you need rin-chan’s contact isagi WHY ┬┴┬┴┤( ͡° ͜ʖ├┬┴┬┴ isagi (12:58pm) that was creepy never send me that one again bachira (12:58pm) ┬┴┬┴┤( ͡° ͜ʖ├┬┴┬┴ Isagi sighs and tosses his phone down onto the bed. At least Rin’s hoodie is the same soft material as Isagi’s own – not that Isagi would’ve expected differently, it’s just… Weird, to be wearing Rin’s hoodie. Because of course, as soon as Bachira had confirmed no contact, Isagi figured fuck it and put on the hoodie he had on-hand. No one needed to know. He looks down at himself, sees “ITOSHI” plastered over his heart, and tries not to think about it. It’s no different than his own, really, just a little bit bigger, the sleeves coming down over Isagi’s hands and the hem a little baggier than his own, and Rin probably never wore it anyway. Hesitantly, he lifts the collar to his face and breathes in. Blue Lock laundry detergent. Of course. Yeah, Rin probably never wore it anyway.

AAHHHH EPISODE NAGI!!! I need to know your thoughts!! You can put a spoiler warning for other ppl maybe? PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW 🙏🙏🙏

JQNSNWNSMS YES! When I reblogged my original post earlier, my brain was still kinda fuzzy- but I’m good now! I’ll be more than happy to share :D

Spoilers below the cut!

I think this goes without saying but I FREAKING LOVED IT!!! I loved seeing Nagi’s perspective on the events of season 1! From the opening where we learn a little bit of his life prior to meeting Reo to his thoughts during the various matches- all wrapped up on one big Nagi package! I was giggling the entire time whenever he was on screen: he’s just so CUTE!

“Nagi of the living dead” made me cackle so hard he is ADORABLE!!! And using the goal netting as a hammock until Reo was all “Hey don’t you want your phone back?” Cause his video games are his go to’s 🤣🤣🤣

Also can we talk about Zantetsu? I know his whole thing was brief but what we got of him was so good anznannsns they really introduced him putting his clothes on wrong like- my guy AHBXBSNXNSN I do like the moment in the baths with Nagi and him and all the feels that came with that; it was small but it made me really like our lovable idiot! 🤣🥰💖

Y’all- this movie made me love Reo! Listen- I wasn’t a hater, but I also wasn’t like; Reo’s biggest fan either? It’s complicated. But now I’m 100% down with Reo- he really grew on me this movie and I liked how we got his thoughts and feelings after Nagi left him. It really added a layer to his character and made him out more than just a guy who was feeling petty. (Which- we all knew wasn’t the case in the season but like, having that confirmation was so good??) Also seeing the post credits scene with him giving Nagi his gloves and being supportive- they made UP Y’ALL AHHH! 😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m so happy I can’t even begin to explain it!

A lot of the movie though was rehashing the season: which isn’t a bad thing cause 1.) Nagi POV and 2.) I got to see Chigiri on the big screen and y’all don’t even know how happy that made me! Raichi was hilarious as ever- I loved his “straight out of your nightmares, pal” line; he sounds like Cartman and acts like Sanemi and he’s just the best! 🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰🥰

Ugh god I loved this movie so much! I will admit; and this is my own fault really- but I was kinda disappointed we didn’t get the post Rin match fights with Barou and Chigiri. I thought the second half would be a continuation of when after Isagi left, but that didn’t happen. Again- it’s my own fault for assuming that was in it: it didn’t take away from my experience or joy watching the movie at all! I just wished we got this scene animated:

Who knows- maybe season 2 will have it??? I just really wanna see Chigiri and Barou being looney tunes anznannsns 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Again; not disappointed- the whole movie had me giggling and laughing and kicking my feet and excited from start to finish. I adored it very much!

Those are my thoughts! I probably have more but as of right now those are what comes to mind! When it comes to crunchyroll I’ll definitely be rewatching it again- Nagi’s faces alone are hilarious, and Reo is becoming a firm favorite! It was truly amazing!

Cherry Tree - Mizuena

In which - Ena comforts Mizuki and they confess to each other.

pairing: mizuki akiyama x ena shinonome

genre: a bit of angst/comfort, fluff

word count: 1,5k

first time writing on here and I have no idea how it works! :D

Pov: 3rd Person

'They're late,' the brunette thought, annoyed. She dipped her pen in the pink color again and kept drawing. Her mood dropped every minute she waited for the slightly over-motivated, pink-haired person. 'C'mon... I can't concentrate without them, where is Mizuki?' Ena exhaled. Then she put her pen down and stretched.

"Enanan!!" A person suddenly said and Ena jumped. She didn't notice the sound of someone joining the vc on nightcord. It was Mizuki. "Hey, Amia! You're late." Ena said, annoyed but happy her friend finally joined. "Yeahhhh sorry, I got caught up in something haha. What are you doing? Ah, and I saw the pic you posted on Instagram earlier! You wore the dress I made for you again but didn't credit meeee. That's really mean you know?" Mizuki said in a playfully mean voice, silently giggling.

"Come on Amia, everyone knows that you design my clothes sometimes. Also, I was working on some of the sprites for the music video earlier so would you like to check it out?"

"Mhm, I'll gladly do that hehe," Mizuki answered. Ena quickly send over the sprites she was sketching and Mizuki instantly opened them. They were pleased by the progress of their best friend. 'We are best friends... right?' Mizuki thought to themself. They were still very insecure even after they told their group about their insecurities. They sighed.

"Something wrong Amia?" Ena asked concerned. Amia. Something in Mizuki's heart started to sting. Why did it feel so wrong? "Uhm... no, nothing's wrong don't worry Ena haha..." Mizuki facepalmed in their mind. Ena was so not gonna believe that.

"Amia you can't fool me, there's definitely something wrong." Ena started to get really worried. What was bothering Mizuki so much? They seemed really happy when they joined just a few minutes ago.

Mizuki froze. There was something in Ena's voice that felt so familiar. So warm. Tears started to form in their eyes. "I..."

"Hey, c'mon Amia, you know I'm here for you and I'll never ever leave you. You're my best friend after all." Ena tried to comfort Mizuki but she felt like it didn't really work out. She sighed and put away her pens and closed the little paint boxes.

"I... I know but..." Mizuki tried to hold back the tears. "Do you want a hug?" Ena blurted out. "...What?" Mizuki was confused, did they understand right what Ena just said? "Do... Do you want a hug? Like right now? We could meet in Sekai. If- If you want of course." Ena felt her cheeks heat up. This was so not like her. But she liked Mizuki a lot. And she really wanted them to feel better, she can't see them sad. That would be too much for her heart.

"Sure, I would appreciate that..." Deep inside, something felt warm. Mizuki just needed Ena to be there. To be theirs. Friends. Just best friends. Was not enough anymore. They knew that they loved Ena. More than just with their whole heart. But with their whole soul, life and existence.

"Then let's meet in Sekai," Ena said, confirming her choice. "But... isn't it too late for you?" Mizuki asked, hesitating. "Aw come on, we went to Sekai to save Yuki how many times at... I don't know, 4 am? I don't mind spending time with you at this time, you know?" Ena rolled her eyes. That Mizuki. Always so smug but is asking if it's really okay to meet in Sekai when it's 4 am.

"I'll wait for you there." Ena logged off and started untitled.

Only moments later, she was in Sekai. The grey and almost empty world started to change little by little. She remembered the day when Mizuki and Rin found a really beautiful cherry tree. They immediately called for the others to show them the beautiful sight. Not only was it super pretty, but it was also warm. It felt so warm just sitting underneath the tree, admiring the cherry blossoms that would never stop blooming.

"I'm here Ena..." Ena turned around to see Mizuki. Their hair was a bit messy and their eyes were slightly red and puffy but they looked so sweet. "Amia, it's good to see you," Ena gave them a soft smile. Mizuki tried to smile back but it didn't quite work out. "Come here," Ena softly said and Mizuki quickly walked over to her.

Ena embraced Mizuki and they have never felt so loved before. It's been a long time since they got a warm, sincere hug. "I'm always here for you Amia..." "Mizuki... It's Mizuki... We're best friends, right...?" "Of course Mizuki."

And so they stood there. Ena gently brushed over Mizuki's back, just enjoying the hug and trying to comfort them. "I'll always be there if you need me, I promise," Ena whispered. "Thank you so much, Ena. You mean the world to me," Mizuki whispered back.

After maybe 5 minutes Mizuki gently pushed Ena away to wipe away the tears that escaped their eyes. "Let's go to the cherry tree and cuddle, okay?" Mizuki asked shyly, looking to the ground. "Yeah, let's go," Ena answered and took Mizuki's hand.

They walked in silence. But it wasn't an awkward kind of silence, it was comfortable.

When they reached the cherry tree, Ena sat down and pat to her lap. Mizuki put their head on her lap and closed their eyes. Ena just smiled at their peaceful expression and started to play with their hair. Mizuki's breathing calmed down and Ena thought they fell asleep.

"Haha... you look so cute when you're asleep. I hope you don't have nightmares. I really wanna tell you that I love you, you know? But I'm scared... Of getting rejected. Maybe one day..." Ena mumbled.

"Hehe, I love you too Ena~" Mizuki whispered back. "Y-You're awake!?" Ena's face got really red and Mizuki turned their head to look at her. "Yes I am, I love you so much. You mean the world to me!" "I love you too, Mizuki," Ena smiled, her face still bright red. Mizuki also started to blush but they were too happy to care.

"So... what were you upset about earlier? If you want to tell me of course," Ena wanted to know. "It's just... you calling me Amia after everything we've been through, it hurts. And I was scared that were not really friends you know..." Mizuki started to mumble because they felt silly after the confession.

"Oh Mizuki, I'm so sorry, I thought that you wanted me to keep calling you Amia. And never ever think that were not friends. Because we are. I mean, I love you, we could even be more than friends if you're okay with that. I mean, I don't know if you'd even want to be in a relationship with a girl so-" while Ena kept on rambling, Mizuki got up and sat on Ena's lap.

"Shut up, that's enough." And with that, Mizuki lifted Ena's chin a little and cupped her face. "Can I?" Mizuki asked, Ena just nodded. "Say it please~" "Yes, y-you can." Ena's face turned even redder. Mizuki closed their eyes and got closer. Then they locked lips with the girl they loved so much. Ena's lips felt so soft and they were melting into the kiss. Ena put her hands around Mizuki's neck, pulling them even closer. Ena could taste the cherry chapstick Mizuki always told her about and she never wanted to let go. But they shortly run out of air, so they broke the kiss to breathe.

Only to lock their lips once again. And this time Ena was way needier than before. She opened her mouth slightly to lick over Mizuki's lips. Mizuki started to smile into the kiss and opened their mouth as well. Then they gently licked over Ena's lips and tried to enter her mouth. Ena let them and after a few minutes of making out, they stopped because even though they stopped every time to catch their breath for a second, they were exhausted.

"That was... So good. Mizuki I love you so much." Ena smiled and tears of joy formed in her eyes. "Aww, Ena I love you too. Do you wanna be my girlfriend?" Mizuki also smiled and Ena nodded, "I'd love to!" Then she started crying because she couldn't hold back anymore. She was so happy that the person she had liked, no, loved for months is finally hers. "Can we stay like this for a while?" Ena asked while Mizuki held her tight. "Of course, cutie." Ena started to blush even more. "Thank you..."

And so they fell asleep under the cherry tree.

Rin found them there at 8 in the morning but decided to let them sleep because they looked exhausted. Instead, she decided to tell Luka. Maybe something would change again in this Sekai. Maybe this Sekai would soon be full of happy thoughts. Maybe the key to saving Mafuyu was near. Maybe Kanade would find her true feelings too. Maybe.

I'm bored and in a kkg brainrot mood, so i'm just gonna rant about my opinions of kakegurui ships and i will make some headcanons:

Kirasaya

Ok i had to start with them bc they're just too iconic, i think they have one of the most interesting and complex dynamics in kkg, they really got me obsessed with them, it's probably my number one kakegurui ship and the reason i started watching the show and reading the manga. Honestly yeah their relationship has some power imbalance, since sayaka is kirari's secretary, and is probably disfunctional, but contrary to what some ppl say kirasaya is not abusive, kirari never physically or emotionally abuses sayaka throughout the story. Anyway they're a 10/10, peak lesbian yearning, if they don't kiss at least one i will jump the author. Probably one of my fav ships ever, i think they're made for each other and i can't see kirasaya with anyone else, they're just so good together and their chemistry is >>>>>>

Yumary

Ok this one is kinda an unpopular opinion bc most people like yumary, but honestly i can't get invested into it, there's something in this ship that doesn't make my heart go "fuck yeah they should be gfs". Personally i don't ship yumeko with anyone bc i can't imagine her in a relationship since her main thing is being a compulsive gambler, her existence revolves around it and she forms relationships when they're useful for her gambling games. I think yumary could be friends with benefits for some time, but after a while mary would probably break it off because i don't think she can handle a sexual/romantic relationship with yumeko and after a while it would make her go nuts. A friendship between them is already messy and complicated and honestly i don't think they are compatible that way. Yes they have chemistry and there's probably some mutual attraction but to me it's a no. Also can cishet dudes stop fetishizing this ship ? My vote is 6/10, mostly bc mary doesn't seem much physically comfortable with yumeko, idk mary just seems off with her in that sense and i prefer them as gambling partners or friends.

Meariri

I honestly love this ship, especially after reading the manga, they have such an great dynamic, i think they both care about each other, they have chemistry and i think they're compatible and that their personalities compliment each other, mary is often loud and aggressive and passionate while ririka is more closed off and quiet, they're like fire and ice and this case i think the saying "opposite attract" works with them. Mary counts on ririka and i love the fact that she is so comfortable with her physically (mary is almost always the one to initiate the contact, holding her hand, touching her head, etc) and ririka gets inspired by mary to be her own person and chase her goals. Plus they're really cute together, aesthetically i find them the most attractive couple, i'll give them a solid 9/10

Itsukaede

Lmao i don't even know if this is the correct ship name for itsuki x kaede, ok i don't hate it and i think they could work as a couple, it's not my cup of tea bc m/f ships bore me, but i like their relationship, they have the kind of old married couple dynamic that always works. 6/10.

Ryomeko

I can see it happening, i don't ship it, but i don't mind it either, i'm kinda neutral about ryota x yumeko, but i think he's one of the ppl who care about yumeko the most in that academy (with also mary ofc), the ship is boring bc ryota is bland (he's a good guy don't get me wrong and he defo doesn't deserve the hate he gets) and as i said previously i don't ship yumeko with anyone. Sorry i gotta give it 5/6 out of 10

Yumedari

Ok i love midari but just like yumeko, i don't ship her with anyone bc i see her as someone who's too much unstable for relationships, but i know that canonically she loves/likes/is attracted to yumeko so i don't hate this ship, i think it's decent, the only problem is that yumeko hates midari. Still i think that since they're the most insane mfs in that school somehow this ship could work. 6/10

Yuridari

Again midari in my eyes is kinda unshippable, but this ship is not bad at all, they would have that kind of bickering married couple dynamic like itsuki and kaede, i like it but it doesn't do much for me. 7/10

Ryomary

Jsjssjsksk i looked the name of mary x ryota's ship on wiki so if it sounds weird it's bc i don't know their ship name and i have looked at the first site google gave me. This ship is hard no, mainly bc ryota is very bland and i consider mary a lesbian (i read that she is a canon lesbian but idk if it's confirmed by the author, let's say lesbian mary is just my hc) so shipping her with men feels like a hate crime to me, mary is for the girls only, 4/10.

Tsumary

They are kind of cute together right ? I think they're adorable, tsuzura is mary's first love and i think that someone like her would make mary very happy. I still haven't finished kkg twin, so my opinion on tsuzura is incompleted and it might change, i don't hate her but i find her character a little basic/boring so even though this ship is cute it doesn't make me fall in love with them. 7/10 bc probably also tsuzura had feelings for mary and they have a healthy dynamic, you can see they love each other.

Midasaya

I enjoy this crackship, i know that they both like different people but i headcanon that they were together during middle school or that midari had at least a small crush on sayaka during that time, before kirari came to hyakkaou i like to think that they explored their sexuality together so midari was probably sayaka's first kiss, her first date, etc, so they would have history together and we also see that midari knows sayaka bc her character is described through her pov during tower of doors. I find this ship pretty funny bc sayaka is always so serious and composed and midari is a ball of chaos. 7/10

Yumesaya

This is another crackship i don't mind and find hilarious, yeah i'm a huge kirasaya stan but i'm also a multishipper and sayaka deserves all the girls in the world, so the more the merrier. I like to think this ship as one sided love in which yumeko sort of pines after sayaka and i think it would be very interesting to see kirari being jeaulous that sayaka is getting yumeko's attention. We saw jeaulous/protective sayaka in kakegurui, but i would also like to see how kirari reacts when someone tries to take sayaka away from her, it would be really interesting. Obv this would create some tension between kirasaya and also between kirari and yumeko, almost a sort of love triangle dynamic. My opinion is that yumeko is just too unstable to settle down, also they both probably would get bored/lose interest in each other after the heat of the moment. 6/10

Ririsaya

Sorry but i really can't see it happening not even if i squint, but i really enjoy the ririsaya fanfictions and i think those works are pretty great even though i don't ship them very much. It would be interesting if both twins were in love with sayaka and there was some tension/coldness between them for a while bc they liked the same girl (maybe i read too many fanfictions). My headcanon is that both sayaka and ririka had a crush on each other when they first knew each other and for sayaka it was probably pretty confusing bc she already had feelings for kirari. I see them as friends, 7/10

Yumemisaori

Again idk if this is the correct name of the ship, many said that yumemi and saori are a healthier/mentally stable version of kirasaya and i agree. the dynamics are similar bc we have the secratary that is willing to do everything for her boss and the relationship is a little more balanced, i think they would be very cute together, but sadly they had very little interactions and if i could see more of them i would probably ship them even more. I like them 7/10.

Sachiko x Mary

I didn't even find a ship name for this couple, so they must be pretty unpopular, i like both characters and their antagonistic dyanamic is very interesting, but i don't ship them much bc i think mary needs/wants someone who is completely different from sachiko, who wants to make mary her pet and mary is someone who cares very much about her freedom, her indipendence and wants to make her own choices and this completely clashes with sachiko's extremely sadistic and domineering nature. I prefer them as enemies who have some sexual tension or enemies with benefits or one night stand adventure, but nothing more. 5/6 out of 10 bc the only mary ship i really love is meariri and i also like tsuzumary a bit.

Sachiko x Mikura

This is probably one of the most unhealthy relationships in kakegurui, but i kinda like it. Their dyanmic is pretty much vertical with sachiko who has all the power and makes mikuro do everything she wants and mikura who is completely obsessed and devoted to sachiko (my opinion is that she developed a sort of stockholm syndrome towards sachiko). I think that someone like sachiko could never have genuine romantic relationships bc of her extremely sadistic nature, she sees ppl like toys to break and what she enjoys the most is seeing ppl suffer, so the only compatible person with sachiko is someone extremely masochistic like mikura. Giving them a 6/7 out of 10 bc their interactions are fun/interesting and spice things up.

Rin x Ibara and Yumeko x Kirari

Hard no to both of them, i don't ship incest, yall can do what you want but personally it's a huge no for me. When i first started watching the anime at the beginning i thought yumeko and kirari had some sort of tension and could have been enemies to lovers (lmaoo i was so naive), but then i discovered they were cousins and i saw more kirasaya interactions so i got completely turned off by this ship. 3/10 to both of these ships.

Sachiko x Sakura

Now this ship is very sexy, idk why i like it but i do, yes i don't see sachiko with anyone besides mikura, but this pairing is not bad at all, even though it's a crackship. I think they would be rivals with benefits and would argue a lot and then make out/have hot sex. 7/10 (maybe it's too high but since these are just my opinions i won't be objective)

Mary x kirari

Uhm is there really someone out there who ships them ? Yeah i thought they had some sexual tension in s1 with that tea scene, but it's a no from me, i don't like it and i don't think they're compatible in any way, i can't see kirari with anyone who isn't sayaka. 4/10

Yo! We're getting closer and closer to the finals. This chapter is a montage/time skip of sorts going through the rest of the consultations. There is also a Katsuki pov at the end that is kind of in the middle of Izuku's pov. For an update on explody boy.

Edit to a previous chapter. It was pointed out for chapter 1 of this part that Izuku should have asked Aizawa about what to do with Bakugou. I more was thinking they wouldn't have done that 'off screen' but I added a small part anyway. :) You can read it if you would like, but basically Aizawa agrees to Maijima and him being the ones to talk to Katsuki but not keeping the fact that the info is from Izuku a secret. And there you have it! Everyone in the first year has more or less been talked to and certain issues addressed! If you have any other things that bother you in canon, let me know! I don't guarantee I'll do everything because there's only so much you can do. ;) Also, for some of these characters, I did rely on support items they already had by the time of the joint training arc. At least to get something for each and every one of them.

I don't have everyone immediately accepting Izuku's thoughts. Some need to think about it and then there's Aoyama. I see him as a 'lead a horse to water but can't make them drink' situation. Willing to listen to Izuku but not necessarily take his advise. Now for things going on in canon, I have my own ideas of what to do and will not confirm or deny things until it comes time to post that part. ;) 'Cause suspense and no spoilers. But by all means speculate all you want. :P

So Kouda. Now I have an idea for an animal companion for him and those on the discord may recall that brainstorm. But I'm open to what others think! Seriously, the boy needs a zoo. Give him all the animal friends!

Sh-sh-shout out to Divergent and Bigsmile on the discord for logicking (I know that's not a real word. :P) out that Katsuki could secrete explosive sweat all over body, but the ignition spot is just his hands. The suit is sort of Dune inspired collecting liquid from all over his body and could work to replace the storage tanks. It could also automatically fill the smaller grenades instead of manually adding cartridges with is an unnecessary extra step. I don't have an exact design for the gauntlets in mind but just slimmer than they are in canon so Katsuki can actually use his arms.

Sh-sh-shout out to Coup on the discord for being the science friend when it comes to Kodai’s quirk. The whole affecting size but not weight or mass or whatever. It was a bit ago and I don't remember all of it. :P If I got anything wrong, this part or otherwise, I apologize and please let me know. ^____^ I am no expert and am relying on others and the internet.

The transcripts Monoma mentions are in part 2 chapter 12! Also, I had fun having them interact again. I want them to be friends! Though there will be bumps because of their personalities. ;) First name basis though!

For redesigns that I actually took the time to sketch out, we have Tokoyami and Hitoshi! Coup had some points when it came to Hitoshi's helmet to make it more comfortable but I was too lazy to redraw things. :P It's good enough to get you a general idea though! Izuku's new helmet design to be revealed at a later time. ;)

There's this smll theory that popped up in my head about the Sunarin redemption arc. It was origianlly mentioned in one anon ask that the queen was doing something sketchy in the background and she is going to use Keiji in the future. There was also an ask quite a while ago where you mentioned that one of the princes was going to die but later on you decided not to kill him off. Im guessing the prince who was supposed to be die is Keiji. But initially back then I thought it was gonna be one of the twins who was going to die (most likely Atsumu) cause they're troublemakers. With all of the info above I have theorized that what the queen is doing is super dangerous to the point where one could die. Currently in the latest chapters, Suna acts like he has literally no chance of redemption. So how will he get his redemption? As I was saying the queen's dirty work is obviously something dangerous and we(y/n) accidentally or even intentionally get involved trying to stop her and almost die and Sunarin saves us becoming a huge factor in his redmption arc.(that's my theory.) But before that Suna will try to become a better person for us in a way that one heroic act can't give him redemption completely. Oh, and I also have a feeling that Iris's mom, Kate is involved in the queen's plans and that's how she got married to Omi. Ngl, it's pretty fucked up that we have a evil mother in law and a slut of a sister in law.

Adding to this ask with my thoughts on chapter 14. I was bawling when Suna and us were in the bedroom and we were seeing ourselves in his Pov and he saw as someone outwardly beautiful. Also, props to Omi, Samu, and Tobio for helping prepare the dinner thing. (especially omi.) I'm pretty much biased as a sunayn truther but this I've gotta give Omi points. Honestly, they all deserve better. With the exception of the queen and Iris. And I know a lot of people were fuming about the lets get divorced ending and saying Rin was irredeemable and deserved no redemption arc but I see it in a different way. Regardless of what Iris said whether it be about the pregnancy or some deep dark family secret but I'm sort of proud of Rin for finally taking responsibility for what he did in the past like a grown adult should. Karma is catching up to him and he's finally taking responsibility and on the way to the right path. Finally, to end this long ask, I was pretty sure that Iris getting an abortion was the best option but seeing some anons point out that the child is innocent and that y/n is a girls girl in the end of the day led me to have some empathy for unborn child. (but still slightly hoping maybe a miscarriage could happen) Thank you for taking the time to read this long ask :3

yep yep, the queen has plans to utilise keiji if things do not go her way 👁 oooh and you would be absolutely right on that! it was mentioned before that rin’s redemption arc will be kinda different in the sense that he’s not necessarily trying to be a good husband, but he will be trying to become a better person. it’s just the question of what he will do for us that will make us want to go back to supporting rin 🤫 i cannot confirm your other theories for now BUT the ones you’ve mentioned will be revealed in dtd16!

oh yes the whole scenes in the beach house were so vulnerable and emotional 😭 ALSO. thank you for mentioning the rin thing, i think with how despicable he’d been, its quite easy to overlook the fact that rin is trying in his own way to take responsibility for the things he’s done and wanting to change. very minor character development, but development nonetheless! as for iris keeping the baby or not however hmm... well we already know neither iris nor rin want to keep the baby, and since yn is such a girl’s girl, if the mother doesn’t want to keep it then yn would do her best to support either way 🤔 thank you so much too for taking the time to share with me your thoughts, i appreciate it! 🌷💫

Why do you always defend Ryuji during the impure king arc? He treated Rin terribly!

I'm going to come at this from the pov that you actually want to know and aren't just trying to bait me.

So...

This is one of my favorite panels (it's from chapter 34.)

It's rare to get a group shot with everyone (even Takara) and it's fun because everyone is going casual. (Also Renzou's side eye always gets me speculating. Yukio or Izumo? Who is he staring at? Is that an Illuminati foreshadowing? I have so many questions, lol.)

Now, something I always notice (partly because he's my fave, and partly because I use it in fics a lot) the only one with any visible wounds is *drumroll* Ryuuji. Bandage on his cheek and lip.

Funny thing about that? He didn't get it in the fight. Nope. That's from Rin. The only visible injury on any of them was one Rin gave them.

Is that fair to say when Yukio also decked the hell out of Rin, and Yukio got his ass kicked by Toudou? Nope. That bandage disappears and reappears through chapter 34 (Kato's human and sometimes forgets to draw things in) but still, the only one of the students to be shown with a wound is Ryuuji. That he got from Rin. Which I think is a big thing.

Now, the Kyoto arc is a big deal for me because it's basically Ryuuji's arc, and if it wasn't obvious, he's my fave, lol. But I think that the anime season-- which I dearly love -- also leads to people making a lot of incorrect assumption about the exwires&Yukio (minus Izumo because of the bus scene.)

and I don't particularly think the anger that group gets is at all warranted. I've gone to bat for Yukio about all of that, and I'm all too happy to explain why I don't think Ryuuji was in the wrong for that arc. (Not to say Rin is either. I'll get to that.)

First thing first. Ryuuji is the only child of Tatsuma Suguro, the master of the Myodha. They are a Buddhist sect of exorcist monks that were united when Ryuuji's ancestor defeated the Impure King. When Ryuuji was a baby, Satan murdered a lot of people in the sect. By the time he was about ten, they'd lost more than 2/3rds of the monks in his order, the temple was considered to be bad luck and everyone in it was ostracized by the community. There was no escaping that kind of constant look down. At that point, his father decided to join True Cross, which a lot of monks looked at as a betrayal of their core beliefs. A Catholic presenting organization? Blasphemous! They lost even more members.

They were forced to confirm to True Crosses restrictions/protocal and get meisters --but Tatsuma did not get any. At that same point Tatsuma stopped putting a lot of effort into the temple and started to go to bars and clubs and things, and get a terrible reputation as a drunk womanizer. (We the viewer know this is because of Karura, but Ryuuji doesn't learn that until much, much later. For Karura to work, Ryuuji had to believe his father was the dead beat he pretended to be.)

Ryuuji, who deeply loves his people, saw all this happening and got more loyal to his people and more determined to make them as powerful as they had once been. He grew to resent his father and the shameful life he led, and went to True Cross to get his meisters without Tatsuma's permission. In fact, he was ordered not to go. He went to the Academy with the intention to not return until he had been licensed, and then only to start working at the Deep Keep and eventually take over the Temple duties.

Now, for my anime only peeps, there are a few key scenes they cut out for time (or something. I don't know. I didn't plot the anime out, lol.)

One: While Koneko is in the hospital for the arm Amaimon broke, he lectures Bon about how reckless he was to run into the forest after Rin. That he is the heir of the Myodha and that he can't be reckless. While that is happening, Renzou brings news that the Deep Keep (the True Cross office connected to the Myodha temple) was attacked and that Renzou's father and Ryuuji's father were there and probably hurt.

Two: The train scene goes down differently than the anime. They have an argument about Rin's flames, Rin ignites and gets in Ryuuji's face, and Ryuuji is surprised he isn't burned, but before any further convo can happen, Shura makes them spend the rest of the train ride with Bariyons.

So by the time they get to Kyoto, Ryuuji, who has seen Rin use his flames twice now when he was angry -- and likely has realized he's been using them all along and has yet to see Rin do anything like control them -- chooses to more or less not interact with Rin for a while. He is immediately pulled away from the group to get extra debriefings (benefit of being the bocchan) and learns that one of the people he's devoted his entire life to are likely a traitor.

Meanwhile you have Rin -- not knowing any of the stress and drama going on, but able to tell that everyone is stressed because no one in the Myodha is good at pretending they aren't stressed to hell and back -- trying to get his friends back. He's always around, always trying to start convos, and when he isn't doing that, he's up on the roof, failing to light his candles properly and clearly annoying Shura with it.

Ryuuij's next interaction after the train is to tell Rin to shut up when Rin is following him and won't leave him alone. He takes the bento and storms off and finds out more about traitors and is still not allowed to find or talk to his dad. (And it is hilarious that Rin got to have a convo with Tatsuma while Ryuuji hasn't and he would be so annoyed about that if he knew, lol.)

They then don't really see each other --yeah there was breakfast but they're both hungover and not really talking -- until the break in at the Deep Keep.

This is THE KEY moment in the struggle, in my opinion. This is the core of their problems, and it happens because neither one bothered to ask what the other one was going through. Both boys react in an entirely reasonable manner to what they know/believe.

Ryuuji has no idea that Shirou died and that Rin was there, and that Rin considers it entirely his fault. None of the exwires do. I don't even think Yukio knows most of the details there.

Rin has no idea how neglectful Tatsuma has been, or what any of Ryuuji's issues with him are. He just sees Ryuuji yelling at his father without hearing why he's yelling. So Rin intervenes and tries to get them to make up -- because he knows how much it hurts to have your dad die and your last words be hurtful.

But at this point, Tatsuma can't apologize and he needs Ryuuji to think the worst of him because honestly, Karura is a little trouble making bitch and forget the Impure King, he was the big bad of this arc, lol. (The contract Tatsuma has with him requires him living a double life. Karura feeds off lies and mistrust.)

So Ryuuji, who at this point is trying to come to terms with this boy he really thought he knew being nothing at all what he thought, who has seen him failing to control his flames over and over again, is now being lectured by someone he knows doesn't understand anything about his relationship with his dad. He writes Rin's words off and tells Tatsuma to get lost anyway because it's clearly all his dad seems to want to do. His temple is crumbling around him and Tatsuma is the only one who can intervene, and as far as Ryuuji can see, he just won't, and he can't keep fighting to get his dad to fix it.

Tatsuma does go, and even if Ryuuji doesn't show it, that hurts because Ryuuji really did idolize his dad and really just wants his dad to take back over the temple and fix everything.

Rin yells at him that he isn't cool, and starts to ignite. Bon doesn't react to that until Rin is charging him, then he reacts by summoning a shield that Rin breaks through before grabbing him by his collar and yelling. Rin decks him so hard during this fight that he flies across the room. So hard that he is the only one of the group bandaged during the Kyoto Tower trip.

Ryuuji doesn't get Rin off him. Nope. Juuzou jumps between them to save Bon, who he genuinely believes to be in grave danger. Ryuuji just watches the entire thing happen in a kind of shock.

Rin once again displays to Ryuuji that he is not in control.

And with that in his mind, while he's icing his swollen cheek, Ryuuji hears that the boy he trusted, the boy that was lying during all their friendship (he doesn't know Rin was told to lie, and he doesn't know if he can trust anything Rin has said about himself because once someone shows that something they said was a lie, it's hard to know if other things were a lie too) the boy who has now shown on three separate occasions that he wasn't in charge of himself and very dangerous for that lack of control-- is in imminent danger of being executed and he immediately goes to help him. He finds out about his father and that most of the stuff he's believed his entire life was in fact a lie, and he still gets Rin free and still goes to help.

The Kyoto Arc is Ryuuji dealing with the fact that everything he believed might not be true. It deals with him having the things he thought were foundational torn away and still striving forward. It has him deciding to trust his friends and pushing past his own prejudices and assumptions to grow even when it seems like it won't make any difference. It has him offering to sacrifice himself for his friends and family and ends with him, bandaged cheek and all, going on an outing with his friends to places he's never even seen, damaged, changed, but better for it all.

So yes. I absolutely support Ryuuji in this arc and every other arc. He's a wonderfully written character -- like all of Kato's characters -- and he follows his gut and morals and expects everyone else to do the same. He never asks anyone to do something or give something he isn't willing to, and he didn't (in my opinion) treat Rin 'horribly' at any point. He told him his flames were dangerous, he was shocked that the son of Satan had just been chilling with the other students like he couldn't ignite, and he mostly just tried to not interact with Rin because he had a lot of other shit he was dealing with and Rin was just not that big of a priority for him to figure out at that time. Ryuuji was a HUGE priority for Rin, because getting his friends trust back was his only real goal in that arc until the Impure King stuff happened, but it wasn't the same for Ryuuji.

So yeah. Ryuuji wasn't wrong and he wasn't right. He was just doing his best with what information he had, and he made adjustments when he got new info.

And at the end of the day, he's a great character. A character doesn't have to be correct or always in the right to be great. I think aoex has a lot of great characters, and some of them are very much on the 'wrong' side. You don't have to like Ryuuji. You can think he's just a bully and it really won't change anything. I shall keep writing about him and all the other characters because it's fun and they're wonderful to create stories for.

Come Back to Me Pt.1

Follow up to Rin and Felix meeting at a park bench for the exchange of money and a Ouija board. Actual whump/sickness in this one, as Shayne's bad habits catch up on him. Part Two will be from Charlie’s POV.

Swallow the World, Halloween: Part 3

Shayne was sitting on the picnic table with his feet on the bench, and Charlie was sitting on the bench with his back against the table. Shayne had never seen him sitting with one leg crossed over his knee before. Relaxed. Confident, maybe. He might have looked slightly intimidating if he wasn’t wearing a bright yellow jumper. Or if he didn’t keep tapping his pink smoothie against Shayne’s leg.

“Piss off, I’m not touching that thing.”

“Damn it, Shayne!” Charlie laughed. “I asked for soy yoghurt specifically so you could try it. I threw dairy under the bus for you.”

Shayne sighed. Fuck’s sake. “Give it here.”

He took a small sip through the straw. At first, all he could feel was an icy stab in his throat and chest. He closed his eyes and breathed through his mouth, drawing the warm, early autumn air into his lungs.

“There’s no way it’s that bad.”

“It’s just fucking cold. Reminds me of –” Demons sliding down my throat. “Y’know.”

“Sorry, I should’ve warned you.”

Shayne was ready for the cold on the second sip, and the tart strawberry flavour made his cheeks tingle. The acidity was still sharp on the way down, but pleasant in the same way as splashing your face with cold water. There was also a sweetness he wasn’t used to, but wasn’t put off by either.

“Yeah, okay, that’s actually nice,” he admitted as he handed the cup back to Charlie, whose eyes brightened.

“You want some more?”

“No way. It’s yours.”

Charlie didn’t push it, but he still looked pleased with himself. He looked away in favour of gazing out across the park, at the sunshine lazily casting shadows through the yellow leaves. He let his finger hover close to the top of the straw, twirling it gently with his telekinesis without even looking, but that wasn’t what had Shayne’s attention.

He was examining the silver possession scar that curved around Charlie’s neck, invisible to the most people, but a clear mark for a demon killer. For Shayne. He felt a little light-headed with frustration at the fact that they still hadn’t made any progress with getting that demon out of Charlie. That he hadn’t made any.

It also felt a little strange to be taller than Charlie for once. Shayne wondered what would happen if he slid across the table, just a little to the left, and rested his head against Charlie’s. Imagining the smell of his hair from that close made Shayne’s own hair stand on end, and didn’t help with the slight dizziness.

A light whistling sound rushed past his ears. Echolocation; softer and more elegant than it usually sounded, but still unmistakable.

“You hear that?” he asked tightly. No. No, there was no way… He’d only been gone from the house a few hours; Madelyn and Watson wouldn’t care about that. Not enough to follow him all the way to the city.

Charlie looked up at him. “Hear what?”

That was when Shayne spotted him; a familiar figure across the park, sitting alone at another picnic table. His golden complexion and ridiculous clothes would have made him stand out anywhere, not to mention those glowing yellow eyes.

“Fuck.” Shayne hopped down and sat next to Charlie.

“Whoa - what is it?”

Shayne pulled his friend’s shoulder so that they were both turned and leaning towards the table. Shayne was hyper-aware of Charlie’s flesh and bone hidden under his clothes, how real and solid he was. How breakable. Shayne felt like his insides were slowly tightening, pushing more and more pressure up into his skull.

He blinked as Charlie’s hand rested against his cheek, tilting his head to make their eyes lock. “Come back to me. Shayne, you look so... When did you last eat something?”

Shayne couldn’t remember, but he also couldn’t see the relevance of the question. All he could think of were vampires elitists so desperate to rid the world of demons that they would set a trap for the kindest, most amazing –

“Th-the –” Fuck. Why was his voice so shaky? Why were Charlie’s eyes so blue, and why was he seeing four of them? Shayne tried to focus, lowering his head to his hand when the dizziness didn’t pass. “The – the guy on the bench over there, can you – can you quickly check if he’s looking at us?”

Charlie laughed gently. “What? Why would he be –?”

“Just – please.”

“Who, the guy in the suspenders? I don’t think so. He’s just – wait.”

“Wait?” Shayne’s breath suddenly felt like it wasn’t going all the way to his lungs. He clutched the side of his head. “Wait what?”

“He’s looking over at Rin, and – and the guy she’s with.”

Shayne looked up and saw Charlie’s lips move again, but couldn’t remember if he’d replied before leaning back and getting to his feet. He couldn’t remember how he made it so far across the park with his head feeling so floaty, his legs so shaky, his thoughts so detached.

Elliott intercepted him before he got to the side of the park where Rin was sitting. He called out his name a few times before tearing ahead, turning, and shoving Shayne backwards. Shayne stumbled but managed to catch himself, adrenaline clearing his head a little.

“Why the fuck are you here?” Shayne growled. “And who the fuck is Rin talking to?”

“Try and stay calm, alright?” Elliott raised his eyebrows. “You want a repeat of what happened with us last time?”

Remembering the agony of being punched by Elliott made Shayne almost gag. He stretched his jaw and tried to steel himself. “If she gets hurt, Elliott, I’ll – I’ll put you in the ground, whether you’re dead or not. You and your little friend.”

“Seriously, watch yourself, Shayne.” Elliott’s eyes darkened as he bared his fangs, which Shayne had seen rip open the ribs of a deer. “No one’s gotta get hurt here, man, let’s just –”

Shayne stepped forward, tightening his fists. “Let’s just nothing, you son of a bitch.”

“Shayne?” Charlie took hold of Shayne’s arm from behind.

Shayne froze up before he could even think about where to hit Elliott first. Charlie’s hold wasn’t strong, but it still made the wrong chemicals fire in Shayne’s brain, and he had to choke back the instinct to lash out.

He shivered as he realised Charlie was seeing him this angry. The rampageous energy leaked from his limbs and his heartrate dropped, though the panic was still screaming in his head. It was like his body was forgetting the danger while his brain fixated on it.

Elliott nodded over Shayne’s shoulder. “Who’s your friend?”

Shayne stepped right between Charlie and Elliott. He reached back with his trembling free hand, shivering again when he felt Charlie take it. He wasn’t sure anymore if all of this holding was purely for Charlie’s benefit.

“You – you don’t go near him, Elliott,” he breathed. “You don’t even look at him.”

“Okay, relax, man.” Elliott nodded, careful not to break eye contact again. “You want to tell me what you’re so worked up about?”

“How about the fact that you’re here,” Shayne said, “while our friend is meeting someone she’s never met before –?”

The way Elliott’s eyes glistened caught Shayne’s attention. No, this was no coincidence. There was a member of the Aldridge clan that Shayne had never met, and the hooded seller had to be them. The confirmation settled like cement in his stomach.

“The Aldridges planned – planned all of – all of this,” he muttered. Shit, why couldn’t he get his voice to come out any damn louder? Everything was coming out in such short, pathetic bursts. “Unless – unless this goes all the way – all the way back to –”

“Shayne, listen,” Elliott said. “Me and Fee didn’t have a choice in this. Besides, isn’t this something you needed, to help your friend?”

Shayne shook his head, wanting to draw Charlie a little closer behind him, but realising he couldn’t get any closer. His shoulders were already pressed against Charlie’s chest, and most of his weight already seemed to be taken into Charlie’s arms.

Charlie was holding him.

“Shayne, look,” Charlie said, moving one hand to rest on Shayne’s waist. “I can see Rin, and she’s just talking to the guy. She’s fine, if you just look.”

“He’s right.” Elliott’s face was swimming in and out of focus. “My boy would never hurt a fly.”

“Then why all the secrecy? Mad- Madelyn…” Shayne didn’t mean for it to be a whisper, but it was.

He’d wanted to make Elliott tell him whether or not Madelyn had orchestrated this, if she knew Shayne had been hoarding demons in jars, if she knew about Charlie.

God, he felt so weird.

The weight of the panic in his stomach made him feel like he was going to throw up, but all that came out of him were mumbled fragments of thoughts that burned whitely in his head. “Mads and Watson, they – they found the - they know about – don’t they? They – they’re going to… Charlie?”

“Yeah? I’m here. I’ve got you.”

“They – they’re…” They’re going to hurt you, they’re going to kill you, they’re going to make you go away, they’re going to –

“Shayne?” Charlie whimpered.

The last thing he remembered thinking was that Charlie must have abandoned his smoothie somewhere, because there was no way he’d be able to hold it and catch Shayne on his way to the ground.
